Robin Blackburn: "A lot of Beatle songs used to be about childhood..." John Lennon: "Yeah, that would mostly be me..." Robin Blackburn: "Though they were very good there was always a missing element.." John Lennon: "That would be reality, that would be the missing element. Because I was never really wanted. The only reason I am a star is because of my repression. Nothing else would have driven me through all that if I was ‘normal.' " Yoko Ono: "...and happy." John Lennon: "The only reason I went for that goal is that I wanted to say: 'Now, mummy-daddy, will you love me?' "
— John Lennon for the Red Mole Magazine, February 12, 1971.

The Playboy Interviews With John & Yoko
The ninth instalment of The Beatles mythology — and the first major piece to appear after the breakup — was an epic piece of music journalism conducted by David Sheff on behalf of Playboy magazine.
Released as a multipart series starting in December 1980, the content was later compiled and released the following year as The Playboy Interviews With John & Yoko.
After a decade of scattered snapshots and accumulating secondhand retrospectives about The Beatles, John finally took the time to sit with a journalist for a comprehensive exposé about his life and career, including the highly esteemed Beatles.
John's tell-all interview wasn't the first “autobiography” by a former Beatle: I, Me, Mine, George's hand-bound limited edition memoir, was published in August 1980, and severely annoyed John for its lack of reference to him as a musical influence. It's reasonable to infer that John's irritation may have sparked an impulsive decision to do likewise, but tell his side of the story. John's interview reached a much wider readership than George's, and John's sudden demise drew attention to “Lennon's last words” about The Beatles.
One remarkable aspect to these interviews is the amount of time John and Yoko granted it despite being in the middle of an album. The pace and consistency of these chats allowed everyone to relax and open up about various subjects. During the sit-downs with Sheff, John spoke candidly (as he was known to do) about the band, their fame, and the other three — and most crucially, he entertained a track by track review of every single Beatles song. From a myth-building point-of-view, this is narrative gold: it gives new dimension to all the Beatles music that fans have been enjoying for the past two decades.
All in all, the Playboy interviews provide a treasure trove of info straight from the mouth of he who started (and finished) The Beatles. The content is delivered with the urgency and detail of one who knows that any moment could be his last — especially eerie considering the circumstances of his death only days after the first interview was published. It stands as something of a holy chronicle, a sacred text of Beatledom, and also a bit naughty too cuz, y''know, Playboy.
It would take well over a decade before another autobiographical Beatles product would be released. In the meantime, it was high time for a fresh biographical review of the group as a whole...

The Case Files of Kindaichi Kyousuke (Kindaichi Kyousuke no Jikenbou • 金第一行助の事件簿) by Yoko Sato (佐藤陽子) - chapter covers from June Magazine (issues from 1978-79)
A detective story with BL elements seemingly based off a pre-existing fictional detective of the same name with characters inspired by surely nobody in particular
