Official cancellation announcement for Ice Adolescence

Unfortunately the Yuri!!! On Ice movie “Ice Adolescence” has been officially cancelled by Mappa on the 19th of April 2024 on Twitter.

Regarding the postponed release of “Yuri!!! On Ice the movie: Ice Adolescence”, we have come to the decision to unfortunately cancel its production.

We deeply apologize for not being able to meet the expectations of all those who have been waiting and have continued to support us throughout these years.

The production committee and staff have been in constant discussions to create and to deliver the movie, but due to various circumstances, we have had to make the difficult decision to stop the production.

We sincerely apologize to everyone who has been anticipating its release and thank you once again for your continued support.

I remember years ago after YOI had come out, I started looking up more MAPPA anime and suggesting them to my friends. I felt like MAPPA was doing something different with anime and their shows were beautiful and unique. I really wanted to support them. Looking back just makes looking at how far down they’ve fallen all the harder.

I hope someone leaks the movie or script

I know it's near high impossible with how guarded Mappa is with everything involving yoi, but it would be nice getting at least a synopsis of the story they worked on, so we could know at least some of Victor's lore. Maybe some sketches or storyboards. Skaters worked on it, didn't they? Maybe choreography. The movie was so close to being finished and we get nothing except a few empty words? Is the movie forever going to be lost in Mappa's server or some producer's USB? All that work and passion that went into it for years?

Well done MAPPA you have fucked up royally on this one… probably one of the biggest fumbles in fandom history let’s be real!

YOI singlehandedly saved their fucking company but nooooo they got a bit too bigheaded with their 15 fucking shounen projects that the very fucking anime that put their name on the scene gets completely fucked over!!!

MAPPA didn’t deserve YOI and I wish them a very happy fuck you in all their future projects!

i will be honest though i feel like the twst anime was announced way too early for them to just never give us any news on it?? like i only even got into this game in february of this year but i remember thinking to myself "hey wait, wasn't there supposed to be an anime for that twisted wonderland game? did that get canceled or something?" months before then. and looking it up, i see it was apparently announced on october 14th 2021--almost two years ago now. so what is going on with it! :( i'm not asking for it to be released immediately, just for some kind of update! and i also wish they had said before that twst fest would mainly consist of a q&a with the voice actors so everyone wouldn't have gotten so hyped and started expecting huge news.
