"𝕺𝖚𝖗 𝖒𝖆𝖌𝖎𝖈 𝖑𝖎𝖛𝖊𝖘 𝖓𝖔𝖙 𝖎𝖓 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖕𝖔𝖚𝖈𝖍 𝖔𝖗 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖘𝖎𝖌𝖎𝖑 𝕭𝖚𝖙 𝖘𝖎𝖓𝖌𝖘 𝖎𝖓 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖉𝖆𝖗𝖐 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖚𝖓𝖙𝖆𝖒𝖆𝖇𝖑𝖊 𝖙𝖗𝖊𝖊𝖘." - Ursula Lynne 🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷 Selecting one image from 'Witches' - Yogurt Culture Zine's Autumn issue - was impossible... so I left it up to the Fates. The zine fell open on this bewitching illustration by @sketchykraft, accompanied by Ursuala Lynne's enchanting words (quoted above). The pairing captures the community spirit at the heart of @yogurtculturezine, which is a recurring theme in witchcraft too... In each issue, Brian, Yogurt editor and Fairy King, gathers the work of artists in repsonse to a single theme. It's fascinating to see the variety and the commonality between each piece. The latest issue, which has just released, is all about 'Fairies'. 👉: Swipe for 2. 'Witches' cover art by @moxie.saturday 3. 'Fairies' cover art by @samson_arts, available now at yogurtzine.com 4. A sneak peek at my own contribution, which explores fairies in a Generally Gothic way, of course! . #yogurtculturezine #yogurtzine #witches #seasonofthewitch #community #fairies #witchcraft #art #artistsofig #zine #indiezine #gothic #generallygothic #spookynerd #darkacademia #illustration #darkhistory #witchaesthetic #poetry #writer https://www.instagram.com/p/CAljed1gaW4/?igshid=1rw2w7vgn1ofl

🔥Candy Porcelain🔥This series has been published by PhotoVogue @vogueitalia, @haloscopemag, @bloudermagazine, and soon by @polemicalzine, @yogurtculturezine, @darksidecollective, @classicsmagazine & @_inconsequential_ Thanks to the publications & to the muse. 20 years old Ángel is a shy, kind and sweet boy that becomes empowered at night by his alter ego: Candy Porcelain. Since he was 16, he started to be attracted by this nightlife style when he first saw Martina Rey on stage, a local Tenerife diva. Her female empowerment inspired him, and then, Rupaul’s crew did the rest, especially the punk attitude of Adore Delano. She adopted the name Candy in loving memory of her aunt Cande, who passed away because of cancer, it belonged to her the first wig she used. Her act is young, alternative, dark and fishy. Like many new drag queens, her performance is more herself rather than being an impersonator of a singer. However, she admits her best lip syncs include the Spanish singer Alaska and the international Pink, Becky G and Rihanna. This series follows her on her night routine, from her make up, padding, all the transformation to her strong presence around the pub. Ángel has studied Beautician and Hairdressing, and he is continuing his education with Art A Levels. He is not much interested in the disco life: flirting, drinking or drugs, but he really loves the attention he gets as Candy. He confesses that as his drag, he gets fascination and curiousity by many straight men. During the shooting, I got the impression that they were two different people, but I can tell that both showed emotional intelligence, politeness and humbleness. His relations with clients, other drags and the owners of the pub could not be nicer. He is also a DIY Queen, she loves doing her own make up, padding and relies on herself for almost everything. At the end of the night, after the show, I accompany Candy to the backstage again and she reverted to Ángel, the shy guy. He waved a timid goodbye to the audience. It was a visually intense experience. I have always found inspiration in the drag scene. Thanks to Ángel and particularly to Candy Porcelain for their candidness. #pride #gaypride #gay (en Arena Gay Club by Tony Cruz Pub) https://www.instagram.com/p/CB-k_LCI-Rb/?igshid=1j552fhct9ktz

Happy Hallowe’en and blessed Samhain.🎃🖤🍁🌒 ——————————————— Whether due to the thinning of the veil, the traveling of the magnetic North Pole, or the emotional deluge that is Scorpio season, my energy has been WIPED. . Still, I wanted to finally take a moment to rave about the beautiful Autumn 2019 edition of @yogurtculturezine’s #Witches issue, featuring my ribbon piece “Lunacy” here—which references The Three Graces and triple-Goddess Hekate in a stately, priestess-like surrender to cycles. . Like the moon among the stars, I feel both humbled and blessed to be featured among such lovely and varied arts and creative works. Definitely an issue to check out. ——————————————— https://www.instagram.com/p/B4RXjzlAmCL/?igshid=5tqc7setuqu

Barrie 🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯 I've departed a little (okay, a lot) from the Shakespeare I promised. I find myself instead in a world of fairytales. But there is a connection, I promise! To explain, I'm drawing from a small piece I wrote for the wonderful @yogurtculturezine 'Fairies' edition last year🖤. Take a read 👇, have a swipe 👉, and check out Yogurt 🥛. 🧚♀️ First appearing in the medieval folklore of Western Europe, fairies - the fae - have a long and rich history. Nowadays, fairies are often thought of as delicate creatures, flowerlike, with papery insect wings. They take inspiration from our own natural world, but exist in a fantasy parallel. We imagine them leaving sparkling trails and inhabiting tales to delight children. This, however, was not always the case… 🧚♀️ At the turn of the 20th century, life in Britain had experienced many great advancements in science and industry under the rule of Queen Victoria. Domesticity, tradition, and progress were at the centre of Victoria’s reign and, whilst many profited greatly, preoccupations were all rather grown-up and formal. The fairies of the era came from Shakespeare. They were sometimes beautiful, sometimes devilish, often devious and deceitful. With childlike features they were humanesque yet remained inhuman; like the Victorian image, they too were adult. 🧚♀️ Part two tomorrow... 🧚♀️ 📸: 1. ‘The Fairies are Exquisite Dancers’ 2.‘Fairies Never Say “We Feel Happy”’ - both by Arthur Rackham in 'Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens' (James Matthew Barrie, 1906), via Wiki Commons. . #fairytales #gothicliterature #gothicmuses #fairies #peterpan #jmbarrie #victorianliterature #victorian #rackham #victorianhistory #zine #bookstagram #darkaesthetic #books #shakespeare #literaryhistory https://www.instagram.com/p/CKUs9lkA8eq/?igshid=b2lx0yl5jtww
