The yoga master Swami Vivekananda was Sri Ramakrishna’s beloved student. From Sri Ramakrishna, Vivekananda gained the knowledge of yoga and spread it around the world.
To propagate the spiritual teachings of Sri Ramakrishna and the holistic vision of Yoga & Vedanta, Swami Vivekananda established Ramakrishna Ashram and designed its emblem👆 , capturing the entire message of spirituality.
Swami Vivekananda designed this 👆 emblem, not only to describe the four paths of Yoga, but also to send the message that any of the four paths of yoga we choose, the element of other yoga is present as well.
Explanation of emblem:
“The wavy waters in the picture are symbolic of Karma Yoga; the lotus of Bhakti Yoga and the rising sun of Jnana Yoga. The encircling serpent is indicative of Raja Yoga and the awakened Kundalini Shakti, while the swan in the picture stands for Paramatman (Supreme Self). Therefore, the idea of the picture is that by union of karma, jnana, Bhakti and Yoga, the vision of the Paramatman is obtained.”

What does this word prana really mean? . 👉🏼One may roughly translate the word prana as “energy” or “vital force”, but neither definition offers a precise equivalent of the Sanskrit term that emerged from higher states of contemplation, when thousands of years ago the yogis living in the shadows of Himalayas fathomed the inherent quality of motion and they called it prana. Thus, the word prana assumes the quality of “livingness”❗️ . Prana is ever present in every aspect of creation. . The term AKSHARA is often found in the sacred text of Bhagavad Gita & Upanishads. . ‘AKSHARA’ is a sanskrit word, which denotes the ‘imperishable’ Ātman, the unchanging dimension of absolute SILENCE in man. .   It also stands for the sacred syllable Om as well as Shiva.  . . The term “Thali” is used either for the name of a round platter used to serve food, or to refer to an Indian-style meal made up of a selection of various dishes which are served on a platter. . Connection of Yoga & Ayurveda   • Yoga is a holistic science, which helps to formally unite the physical body with the spiritual being. It takes into consideration all aspects of a human’s personality (physical, mental, emotional) and intellectual) •Ayurveda is not only a medical science, but it is a science of life. ✅Knowledge of Ayurveda can be very useful to our yoga teachings if we wish to approach our teachings in a more therapeutic way. 👉🏼 Some of the similarities of these very important sciences are as follows: 👉🏼Both these sciences originate from the same country and the same traditions. . 👉🏼Both Yoga & Ayurveda derived as parts of Vedic system. . 👉🏼Initially both these sciences had eight branches, the 'eight fold' paths of (Ashtanga Yoga and Ashtanga Ayurveda) . . 👉🏼 For maintenance of health, both sciences explain a similar beneficial diet. . 👉🏼Both sciences have given equal importance to the physical cleansing techniques (Shatkarmas for yoga and Pancha Karma for Ayurveda) . . 👉🏼Both Yoga & Ayurveda have accepted that control over the sense organs is essential for preservation of health. . . 👉🏼For treating psychological disorders as well as physical diseases, Ayurveda has its psychological and spiritual (Sattvavajaya) therapy.
