yet again reposting my silly theory on Deltarune

Lost Girl's first couple of notes sound oddly similar to a certain soundtrack from Yume Nikki, さえない　さずあと (Kienai Kizuato).

This may be a coincidence, but knowing that aforementioned game inspired some things in UNDERTALE and DELTARUNE, like mysteryman's design and man.ogg which originally was a YN fan song made by Toby, this can actually be an intented reference.

And if true, it would be a pretty INTERESTING piece to refer to, as both characters that these songs are related to can have some similarities.

In the location where the song plays resides a creature, refered to as Mars-san, that is surrounded by theories of having connections to some sort of trauma and isolation, like it is basically crying while having some sort of an injury, alone on a distant planet, surrounded by broken machinery, not being able to leave it's room due to the creature's huge size blah blah blah it's not a YN theory ya know.

Not too similar to Noelle... yet.

To meet the creature, you need to fall asleep in a dream in another dream, reaching subconsciousness and thus having connection to it, so maybe repressed memories... of losing someone.

Another requirement to meet Mars-chan is to crash a spaceship to land on the planet, and remember that it is standing surrounded by broken machinery, so the creature may have some connection to losing someone in a traffic accident.

So we have similar songs, themes of repressed memories, lose of someone, basically the main themes of Noelle, implying that there may be even more similarities between Mars-san and her, like her feeling alone or out of place or something idk.

Obviously this may (and most probably) mean ABSOLUTELY nothing and I've officially gone insane alongside the rest of DT community lmao, like I doubt Toby would connect a seemingly important character to fan characterizations of a character built on theories, also all of the previous things in Toby's works weren't direct or so heavy inspired by YN, but it's nonetheless fun to think about.

P.S. Also I forgot to mention but it's worth noting that the song that is man.ogg was originally named after a character Seccom Masada (see Waltz of Seccom Masada), who is the one in charge of the spaceship that lands on Mars, so... another connection or something idk

i follow the YN tag and tumblr shoved a post on my dash the other day that was talking about tumblr sexymen and seccom masada. not even close. i love masada but he is not sexy and people usually just draw him kind of prettified. they don't make him something he isn't. we all know that he's like if tommy wiseau was a seven-foot-tall monochromatic alien with a chitinous exoskeleton and pharyngeal teeth, and we accept this

Final thoughts on YN:DD.

Honestly. It’s a pretty good game.

The biggest issues between this and the original by fans is the more platforming styleof gameplay, more linear layout, and the story. But frankly those aren’t the problems I have.

As I stand, I see YN:DD as a mix between a spiritual successor, and a fan made sequel honestly. And by the end of the game, I can easily see that they weren’t trying to remake the original YN, or remaster it even. Only thing is, is that they label it as a re-imagining which doesn’t do the game any justice what so ever.

The only actual flaw to me in the whole game, is that some fan favorite things that made the game what it is today, were cut short and pretty boring.

Uboa was turned into the most meager of jumpscares and felt like a after thought.

And the second ending with Seccom Masada felt like they forgot about the character and went “oh shit! We better add this in!”

And a few events that would of amped up the feelings the game tried to convey more frequently were passed up, which sucked.

And only other thing that’s a pet peeve I guess is the fact they made the effects... boring? Especially the lamp. Why exactly couldn’t it be her head again? I saw no reason to undo that.

But overall, it’s a pretty good game. It’s not trying to take the place of the original, nor is it trying to be better then it. It sits on its own right next to the original, as a fan made ending basically. A spiritual successor. Not a remake or remaster.
