3. Least favourite fic you wrote this year

This is such an interesting question! My least favourite would without a doubt be Bring Me To Life, because it is a Glee parody of My Immortal and therefore terrible by default lol. I've thought about deleting it so many times. I feel like that's cheating though, so in terms of serious fics, I guess I would have to say... maybe You Make Me Feel So Young? It's part 2 in the He Forgets Me, He Forgets Me Not verse and it's not that I dislike it, but it's just partly song lyrics and I dunno, not all that interesting to me although I do still think it feels very real and it did come from an emotional place when I wrote it. I also wrote it in an hour and didn't edit lol so like, that's probably a contributing factor as well.

12. Favourite character to write about this year

Easily Kurt Hummel. Exactly nobody is surprised by this, I'm sure.

19. Any new fics to start next year

Nothing in particular comes to mind. I'm sure there will be something, but right now I have some WIPs I'd like to finish before I get started on anything new that's too big.

21. Most memorable comment/review

Wow this is so hard. And it's really making me wish I did a better job of keeping track of comments that I get, because I've gotten so many really wonderful ones, and it would be nice to be able to go back and easily look at my favourites. Is it cheating to say all of the comments I got while writing IWOAK? Because they are definitely what got me through that fic (and if anyone ever wants to read/reread it and leave some more comments, I would not complain). But other than that, I'm going to have to say the most memorable comment(s) was this exchange between @gorgxoxus and @blog-carmex on Shut Up and Kiss Me.

I think the season 4 chemistry was fine and we know behind the scenes things were fine as well (thinking of Bryant park specifically) but it was really season 5 that stood out to me where the acting seems distant. I can’t think of any bts moments here except for the kiss in episode 1. And this was before I knew about cc so it definitely made me think they started to grow apart but why that would affect their acting or why they would let it affect them, I’m not sure, given they’re both great actors. Maybe it was the script or maybe it had to do with certain people’s presence on set but I’m not sure which season that began.

Hello anon. There are 2 moments that stood out for me in season 5. The lack of eye contact during some of the dancing and the missed kiss after ‘I’m still here’. However on reflection that dip during ymmfsy was tricky and let’s remember C fell or tripped quite frequently in songs so I take that as him focusing on the dancing. I don’t blame him. D has been known to drop people while dipping (nye 2019).

In the other scene D is behind and to the side of C. I think that was missed timing and not deliberate.

There was lots of angst in s.5 too. With Ku/rt feeling overwhelmed and Bl/aine feeling anxious at Ku/rt’s success. So they are portraying a relationship being tested.

There were also things happening off screen in 2013. C/ory’s death for one. Which hit the cast hard. We also had M on set at Burlington mall. C’s face said it all. LU tour (called the straight tour). I’m sure that was a stressful time for both.

However there is so much to be greatful for in S5. D and C gave us some amazing Klaine chemistry moments. Which I’ll post below so this outweighs and concerns I had. These guys didn’t lose it and these scenes show that.

The above more than compensates any tiny concerns I had early on in fandom. We also got some great CC too.

And my personal favorite.

Believe me anon. Their chemistry stayed intact. That gif above is the kiss that wasn’t required. They did it anyway. I doubt D refuses anything C asks for.

Am I the only one who thinks that Chris's 'weak' acting in 5x14, particularly YMMFSY, was intentional? I thought the whole point of that sequence was to show that things weren't as perfect as either of them thought. Plus Kurt was already annoyed at Blaine due to the bedbug incident of the previous night and hadn't gotten any sleep. I have always thought that him looking a little disengaged (but not too much) was on purpose.

I absolutely believe Chris’s acting choices were intentional.  I think he (and Darren) knew what was going to happen in season 6 (I believe there’s an interview somewhere that confirms this), and knowing what happens in season 6 adds a new layer to what goes on here.  

One of the unfortunate things about not having a full season in New York is that we kind of skipped past Klaine’s honeymoon stage, and went straight into their struggles of living together.  Add in the fact that Glee often does broad strokes with its stories, we don’t get smaller, happier moments, which I think, had they been allowed in, would have balanced what was going on during the NYC arc much better.  Case in point -- Kurt’s rather happy at the end of the episode as they’re walking hand in hand and looking at flowers.  Their life together isn’t terrible, and Kurt does love Blaine, but the situation they’re in is not what they wanted or expected, and they both still had a lot of growing to do -- with themselves and their relationships.  

And yes, when you take YMMFSY in context, it is after that dreadful night of bedbugs, layered on top of the fact that Kurt’s already feeling claustrophobic, layered on top of the fact that Blaine’s trying way too hard to make them an old married couple when they’re still in their early twenties.  They’re skipping a good three or four decades, and Kurt’s just not ready to be there --- even as Blaine’s pushing him to be.  That doesn’t detract from the fact that there are happier moments in the song (the pillow fight!).  It’s awkward, but intentionally so.  Kurt’s not happy.  And that’s a deliberate acting choice on Chris’s part --- having nothing to do with whether he was annoyed or not.  

I also like to point out that there are other reasons Kurt’s annoyed that aren’t just tied with Blaine.  Rachel has been obnoxious, and obnoxious for a while, and Kurt’s irritation with her outweighs anything having to do with Blaine (why he continues to live with her, eesh, idk).  He’s also genuinely annoyed with Sam, who lives on his couch, and prevents him from sexy times with Blaine.  And then there’s everyone not taking things like Artie’s mugging seriously.  Kurt’s life is a jammed mess full of needy people, and he doesn’t have a moment alone to just be himself -- hence his conversation with Elliott.  

And all of this bleeds through the entire New York Arc.  Kurt is not happy.  And he won’t be until the end of season 6, really.  

Definitely a character thing.  Not an actor thing. <3 <3

Okayyy so this one is hard. If we’re talking like relationship status than obviously s6 because married klaine >>> BUT considering everything else I think I gotta go with s2 klaine. Just because in s6 we had to deal with dave and walter (🤢) but also when they finally did get married it was only for like four episodes!! They didn’t get the wedding they deserved and we didn’t get to see their honeymoon or them with their baby or get to see them STAND NEXT TO EACH OTHER IN THE CLOSING NUMBER 😡 but then in s2 you get blaine being america’s most eligible dumbass™ and cute pining klaine and “i’ve been looking for you forever” and they’re just so cute sooo at the end of the day, s2 klaine wins out

Okay this one is also hard especially because we decided you make me feel so young would be their wedding song (obviously our canon is superior) but got to get you into my life just goes so hard and i love the arrangement of it (the band >>) and i can visualize it so well and it just gets me pumped so as cute as YMMFSY is i think i have to go with GTGYIML

I'm glad they posted that gif of Blaine dipping Kurt from YMMFSY as proof of real love. I suggest they watch the whole song. That's one of CC's most phoned-in performances in the series. Darren's face is bright and happy. The only semi-smile Chris cracks is during the pillow fight. In their beloved dip, he has an actual grimace on his face. He looks pissed off through the whole song! It's classic. And if that was an acting choice, then Klaine should have ended in that episode.

OMG YES!!!! I haven’t been able to rewatch that song once. It is cringy. Chris’s walls are UP and there is NO chemistry.

I don’t understand why they keep using Klaine examples...not only was that a scripted scene, but it was choreographed and practiced. They had to hit marks so the lighting is correct. There is NOTHING about that moment that was pure Chris and Darren except Chris’s anger.

The CCers have created a fantasy land, not only about Chris and Darren but also about how a TV show is  filmed, how closeting happens in Hollywood and how contracts and POAs play out. They don’t believe in coincidences which happen all the damn time if you have your eyes open. There is very little in the CC world that is based on reality. It’s all just made up in order to keep their little train chugging.

Just saw a post asking people to add their favorite romantic k1aine moment gifs and someone posted the one from s5e1 YMMFSY where blaine dips kurt while dancing. kurt's expression as he's going backwards is his trademark s5 tight-lipped scowl. lmao. literally scowling during a dip in an upbeat love song is so romantic! cc peaked in s1. by s5 he couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. his whole onscreen vibe from s4 on implied he was miserable IRL

My favourite romantic Klaine moment is when Kurt stopped being simply passive-agressive towards Blaine and decided emotionally neglecting him was more fun. And then he quickly added emotional abuse as well, because neglect is really only fun if you can break it up with a little negative attention in order to completely emotionally destroy a person. Yay romance!

I mean, sure, they had some cute moments too. And I’m pretty sure CC gave up bothering to act pretty quickly anyway, he focused all his energy on being completely and obviously jealous of Darren. Which was pointless, but eh.

i fucking hate it when people see kurt as the "girl" of the relationship. like what the fuck, its a relationship between two MEN so stop trying to make one be a girl! thats why i literally cant stand when people say kurt's the bottom or "the CEO of bottom" or why i cant let myself enjoy fics where kurt is the bottom every fucking time him and whoever have sex even though i know it doesnt mean the "girl" but so many people see it as that. thats also why i cringe when i see something as insagnifigant that doesnt matter at all like when blaine leads kurt in a dance and dips him because my hatred for gender roles has made me have an aversion to anything that paints kurt in that way even in the tiniest bit. cheerio!kurt/jock!blaine? hate it. people making blaine the hypermasculine closeted football player or badboy or some shit like that? repulsive. when i read some fics i can just tell when they see kurt as the "girl" by their characterization of him. i honestly hate it so much that i find myself becoming a hypocrite by only accepting/putting blaine into the box of the ""girl"". my brain is so fucked up that i can barely even handle kurt on blaine's lap since blaine is smaller than kurt contrary to some people beliefs.

like i cant really blame you bc i know how some people portray it and it's honestly fucked up. but honestly i think the show did a pretty good job of balancing things out?? like blaine dips kurt during ymmfsy and kurt dips blaine during mtaw

and i think blaine more often reaches up to hold kurt's face and kind of "lead" the kiss but we always see kurt on top when they're making out. except for in tina's fantasy lmao

but yeah ive said before that wasting any time trying to fit them into the role of "man" and "woman" of the relationship is stupid as fuck. i mean, basing your relationship around 50s gender roles is dumb as hell no matter what kind of relationship it is. but especially for two guys. and you know it's stupid bc it just switched when the show started portraying them differently.

like oh kurt is into fashion and blaine likes football and boxing? kurt is the girl and blaine is the guy. and the thing that flipped it so that kurt was the guy and blaine was the girl was literally just like. kurt working out and being more stoic. and blaine being more emotional. like do we have to explain how shitty it is to base their whole character off of one or two traits? especially when its those specific traits that you think can only apply to men or women?? so seeing them applied to a gay man means the man must be a woman?? i feel like im just babbling incoherently like a crazy person now but thats how it feels to try and rationalize these people's insane way of thinking xD
