So I've been been playing Jake hunter memories of the past recently and like Im pretty forgiving of localization weirdness because localization is like the hardest job in the world and I'm especially forgiving of localization weirdness in stuff that came out in the 00's, especially things like Phoenix Wright where puns and joke names are fairly baked into the original, but man. Jake hunter and Valente disano, huh .....mafia boss valente disano

So this is the residence of Italian American mob boss Valente disano who is american and lives in America like we do as Jake hunter American man who lives in America with his American shoji doors huh

American boss of the mafia in America with his full suit of American samurai armor which is displayed as he does american mafia crime in america huh

#like its not a bad game and this localization is perfectly fine and has a lot of character in its dialogue #it really nails the film noir talk and while theres some typos its far better than what we coulda been stuck witn #(the original localization that cuts a bunch of episodes for no reason lol compared to that memories of the past aint half bad)#but man. every day saburo i mean jake pretends hes not japanese. you cant lie to me jake. i know the truth #i think another reason i didnt mind it as much with Phoenix wright is outside of all the burgers they dont emphasize that they live in #the us all that often like most of the time its just kinda vague like i dunno its san frantokyo whatever #but whew......jake jinguji really wants us to know that this is america #also can i just say how i think jake hunters english name was a bad choice #like okay u couldnt use his Japanese name fine okay but jake #jake hunter......those are two white elementary school boys who i got in fights with as a kid #like you need a real film noir name for this kinda character. he shoulda been called dick. bobby. jim #yknow something a little more 50s and a little less 2005 #fun game tho its very classic japanese adventure game like the precursor to what we think of as visual novels #extremely linear and pretty easy which i like cause sometimes you want that #i like to play a little before bed like its a book and im reading a chapter or two to sleep fjrbebbgbtdjjf
