BOO HC DESIGNS FOR PUFF PUFF AND DEEJAY

I thought it would be fun to whip up a doodle of Puff Puff and Deejay in my vision! and I also thought it would be fun to write abt my hc YFM backstory and how they met!

Read If u want to but here it is! (Don't mind how ass my writing is)

Puff Puff and Deejay have known each other since childhood. The pair met when Puff found a lonely Deejay, crying after the incident with his step-dad. Knowing that Deejay was going through awful things like he was, Puff Puff would talk to Deejay and make him feel better by letting him play with his airplane and dragon toys. Because of Puff Puff's kind act, he and Deejay would become the bestest of friends. Despite Puff Puff's weird behavior and his lack of intelligence, Deejay didn't mind since he enjoyed Puff's company. For a long time, it was them against the world, until seventh grade when they met a new student named Benatar. Even though Puff would tease the poor British boy for being too soft, Deejay offered to befriend Benatar with the same kindness Puff showed him many years ago. The duo became a trio and they couldn't be happier.

One day, after moving into a better household with his grandma and grandpa, Puff Puff found himself watching music videos on MTV. After a long binge, Puff Puff had a brilliant idea that he would tell his friends. At school, Puff Puff proposed the idea of starting a band with his friends just so they could be cool. Deejay and Benatar were on board; however, the majority of the group didn't know how to play instruments. Benatar was the only member who was able to play both guitar and piano while Deejay and Puff Puff didn't have any musical talents. After a discussion, it was decided that Puff would be the band's lead singer and Deejay would somehow learn to become a dj. The band was almost completed but Puff Puff knew that they needed a drummer. That’s when Benatar introduced his new friend Axel into the friend group. After presenting some immaculate drumming skills, Axel was welcomed to the band and Your Favourite Martian officially began.

The band had a rocky start however. Because of High school, YFM wasn’t able to write any songs or perform at events since everyone was so busy. This was until Deejay got himself kicked out of his house which eventually made him drop out of school since he felt like there wasn’t a point in attending any more. When Puff Puff noticed, he had a conversation with Deejay which inspired him to drop out of high school as well. Not only as a way to support his best friend but as a way to get YFM back on its feet. While writing their first few songs, Axel joined the two in dropping out since he never cared about high school and wanted to be famous instead. After completing the writing stage and waiting for Benatar to graduate, YFM was able to create their first song; My Balls. It became a hit which inspired the group to not only make more music but buy themselves a tour bus so they could pursue music and flee from their old lives.

Sett and dealing business in Navori

For a man who holds the power in the underbelly of Navori, there’s no way he isn’t more involved with enforcing, especially when they are within his grasp and/or around the Pit. A la typical mob boss fashion, you pay a fee for protection for an allotted amount of time, this ensures that any trouble caused by anyone in the vicinity of your home, bar, market stall, restaurant, what have you-- they fall within Sett’s territory, thus they’re fucking with his stuff. Punishment for that is dished out pretty quickly too, so it’s not too bad of a set up. And it’s not any sort of insanely high amount of gold, after all he’s trying to keep the area around him nice and orderly so no eyes pry too closely to what's going on below.

There are some areas that tend to elude his grasp, yet, are still within this realm he tends to “control” and it’s usually stray market stalls in the rural parts of Navori. Why does he do it? He’ll never tell you, at least directly. But anyone could tell from the way the owners greet him as if they’re one of his own, much to his chagrin. They’re usually folks his Ma knows or often shops from, or folks who have known him since he was a little kid. Any sort of trouble comes their way, be it a robbery, someone else trying to get them to pay enforcing fees for protection, threats, etc-- best know it’ll never happen again if it’s anything Sett’s got to say about it.

Outside of enforcement and the Pit, he has a hand in running an inn & bar as well. This is an area he tends to leave calling cards to see who the next big thing will be for his enterprise, makes scouting a little easier, especially if they’re starting shit within the walls. It’s also easy to see who is full of hot air and shit talk, he loves to deal with those types getting them to shut up in five seconds flat. While in comparison, the inn isn’t anywhere near as lavish as the Pit is, it’s done with purpose-- make it inviting. There’s a door behind the bar that leads to an area where he enjoys doing business which shares a little more aesthetic crossover with the Pit, usually reserved for those trying to strike a deal with him for something in return, usually never works out for them though.

Tig and Deejayne are the reason why I even started my redesign journey in the first place! I just didn't like how Deejayne was just basically a Deejay recolour while Tig's designs went downhill since gen 2. And thats why I decided to put my own spins on the both of them! For Tig I combined a few aspects of her previous looks while for Deejayne I wanted her to look like her own person!

Your Favorite Martian Headcanons, pt 2 of ?

This time, I'm doing it with Gen 2.

Puff Puff

He's going into therapy now. Gen 1.5 him was an asshole and now he's trying to improve.

He's in a huge situationship with Tig, trying to be better for her, but he kinda doesn't know how.

Despite his job as a waiter, it is better pay than his previous job.

Puff Puff lives with his grandma after she left the nursing home back in 1.5, but he lives there half-time. He leaves when he's either on tour with the guys or if he vanishes since he tends to do that sometimes. He always comes back, though. Surprisingly, he is very protective of his Meemaw.

He's made amends with people he's messed things up with. Him and Deejayne aren't friends but are on civil terms now.

He eventually got back in touch with Wilton (Nerdy dude from gen 1.5) and they talk a lot.

Deejay

Him and Deejayne are still very close! They facetime very often, and Deejayne invites him over during the holidays.

He uses online therapy since it's more in his budget, and he definitely finds YFM to be a therapeutic outlet.

His change of voice was because he got vocal lessons from Puff Puff and Benatar.

He got back in touch with estranged family.

Over the years since gen 1.5, Deejay is no longer the "voice of reason" since the guys all matured more and now the role of being the voice of reason is a little more evenly distributed among the 4 members.

He's still in charge of paying Netflix, though.

Axel

He decided to get buff since constant and structured movements helped him focus on his songs and calmed him down.

He's got folks somewhere, he doesn't know where. But he does know that his number one family is in an RV.

Both him and Puff Puff stopped being too mean to Benatar after he openly expressed a dislike for it.

Over the years, the guys have gotten closer as the four of them matured and understood the need to be more deeply connected in order to be a stronger band. As a result, Axel is more open to talking about how he feels now and encourages his bandmates to do the same.

He's still crummy with emotions, but he tries. He mostly uses the drums to convey his feelings.

He's getting treatment for his herpes back in gen 1.5. He's a lot more responsible with sex now.

Benatar

He actually became more assertive over the years. He's still polite, but he doesn't let anyone disrespect him anymore.

He teaches Axel English work and literary analysis since Axel was unable to finish high school.

He was initially picked on because he was the odd one out in terms of lifestyle. The other three were poor and had physically abusive parental figures in their lives. Benatar had a nice house and was well off, but his mother was emotionally, verbally, and mentally abusive, and his father was around but he wasn't emotionally available for Benatar and would frequently parentify him. This explains his passive and quiet demeanor in the past generations of Your Favorite Martian.

He plays GTA 5 and stops at the redlights, acts nice to everyone, but gets headshots every mission, gold every mission, and he stalks pedestrians at night. Don't worry, he stalks all genders of NPCs at night. He's also terrifyingly good at escaping the cops.

He had Puff Puff sing "Real Girl" for him because he's still too shy to sing a whole song by himself. He hasn't done that since "Jupiter."
