expanding on the matter of: yevon, the teachings, temple life and how it is an unhealthy space for those who follow the path, predatory behaviour and whatnot.
i've mentioned sparcely before how i always viewed yevon & the general temple life to be extremely predatory, especially when it came down to summoners to be. it is my own headcanon as i've dealt immensely with religious trama and i sincerely believe it is something that is a heavy theme when it comes to yuna's character throughout the whole x timeline, further hinted at in x-2 even ( which is why i always disagree when people appoint the game to be superficial! ). an example of how i view it, i took it as personal headcanon that once someone set to become a summoner, the teachings would prohibit you to have children as to not sway the summoner away from their duties with a possible domestic life to be had with a family of some sort — i would even go as far as say that the teachings prohibit you to have a partner or a familiar, whatever could create the comfort of family, be it an 'older' tradition or whatever ( ex. seymour asks yuna to become his bride, and although it is seen as extremely positive, many npc's tend to worry about yuna's pilgrimage, and auron himself makes sure to state how her pilgrimage will continue regardless ) and furthermore i even integrated in my own verses that once you received your first aeon, the summoner would become infertile.
but the toxicity starts even before, especially if you are integrated into temples before you become a summoner. the priests have their goal to make sure that you do become a summoner, that you do not change your mind, that once you step foot into that life you do not back down. spiritually speaking, yevon is soothing, and teaches positive things as a religion does, but in terms of the clergy it is deeply infested with toxic traditions that have not been questioned by those who practice it, let alone defied in fear sin might strike harder. yuna becomes an unreliable narrator when it comes down to recalling her temple life. she tends to romanticize it, recalling how following into her father's footsteps was always meant to be the way, and although she loved him, she did think about wanting to be a normal person, even canoncly. when tidus presents her with ideas about how they would go and watch blitzball, cheer, do things a normal girl should do, even after truly considering it, she still couldn't walk the step, all because of how deeply rooted in her the tradition is, as well, of course, as a sacrificing will so that everyone she loves may live free. but even if she was not the high summoner's daughter, as a priest braska should have done so much work to take her away from the cult. canonicly, braska was a non-tradionalist priest of some sort. first of all, he married an al-bhed, which already got him to receive a bad name per se, but also yuna later on declares how she wishes to be more like him, how he wants to defeat sin "without false hope". there is a specific reason as to why braska asked auron to take her away from bevelle and as a priest who tried to revolutionize the clergy in his own way before even becoming a summoner that speaks volume. he knew until the very end, and he did not wish that life upon his own daughter.
when i wanna point out examples to sustain my theory, i think about isaaru. why does he so diligently follow orders to eliminate a fellow summoner in via purifico, sent there without further questions asked? even if it wasn't yuna ( he shows regret saying 'even if you are lord braska's own flesh and blood' ), he would have simply done it. deal with the traitors.
AURON so you will fight us? ISAARU the temple orders are law.
bevelle, the very fulcrum of yevon, just makes use of priests, summoners and even maesters all alike. it must uphold itself in its own falsehood and it must perpetuate the cycle.
are there cases of summoners who are not so much involved with temple life and still chose to become summoners? yes, of course — dona, for example, is the other face of the medal we get to see. she seems to stand on her own strong beliefs more than relying on temple teachings, and it's clear her intent is to save spira as well, but it all comes down to the same point: wanting their beloved ones to live a sin-free life. she fully believes barthello will live. when it comes down to the guardians, this is another point that makes me uphold my own theory: dona goes out of her way to shame yuna for having many guardians, but it is never frowned upon to have multiple ones by any teaching. actually, circling back to my previous theory of any resemblance of family becoming deterrent to summoners and thus prohibited in some sort of way, i believe yevon follows the course of what guardians are not only for yunalesca ( the story of zanar and yunalesca and yaddayadda your most trusted guardian becoming the new sin yaddayadda ) but i firmly stand on the fact that the teachings prey over the fact of summoners having loved ones they wanna protect from the spiral of death, thus pushing the summoners into being sacrifices more and more. in general, i also find it hard to believe how casual it is that most summoners are very young and ripe.
although i do not count -will- to be any relevant, many people questioned why yuna would even consider going back to her temple life, and how ooc it can be. honestly? i don't really see it that ooc — all because of this theory i have; on top of that, healing religious trauma is not linear at all. i think when it comes down to how ingrained the teachings are, it's hard to imagine how it must even feel. she would 100% return and live the worst of her adult years. in my eyes, x-2 is always a timeline in where she clearly tries to go to the opposite extreme, and instead of dealing with the ptsd caused by what becoming a summoner does to you, and even more, not knowing what to do once the life you promised to sacrifice for the benefit of a clergy that does not care about you as a single person but cares rather about the cyclic spiral of death without questioning it is handed back to you, she simply decides to live fueled by adrenaline, but once the gullwings disband, it feels empty again, and left with healing the scars that will not fade even if you try to do all that you could not do back when.
in my eyes, even in that it shows how deeply rooted the toxicity of the temple was. and, honestly, still is.

I can’t remember if anyone had a final fantasy ask, but what if Desmond landed in Spira (Final Fantasy X). He could go full pirate and I’m sure Edward’s bleed would love it.
Not yet. I mean, there was a Desmond as the same species as Nanaki one and a frog Desmond based on FF frog debuff but there hasn’t been any real full crossover or isekai idea.
I was thinking of how Desmond could be a pirate in Spira considering Sin is there lurking and all.
Then I realized we can make Desmond become a full pirate if we don’t set this in FFX but in FFX2. For this one, Desmond could be the captain of his own airship (which is smaller than the Celsius and is actually made up of extra parts from both Fahrenheit and Celsius) which he got by winning a bet against the Al Bhed. Maybe even call it Kelvin to continue the degree themes of their names)
Now, let’s focus on the plot. Desmond really didn’t want to be a pirate. Not exactly. Calling him one would actually be a bit of a… generalization?
The truth was…
He had a sphere with him when he woke up in this world. And that sphere contains a memory of Minerva talking to him, telling him of a device that they had created which can hop into other timelines. Unfortunately, the device disappeared because… it hopped into a different timeline and they couldn’t find it.
So Desmond is looking for that device to get back to his world. The sphere he got from Minerva is his only clue. She said that the device has a lock that used these ‘spheres’ and he needs to collect them all first. He would know if a sphere is part of the device or not.
Which meant that, technically, Desmond is a sphere hunter.
But because he’s looking for specific spheres, he sorta also steals spheres from other people if they’re the spheres he’s looking for.
So in this one, he and his group are actually a rival of the Gullwings (and Leblanc Syndicate) and he gets in the middle of the whole FFX2 plot along the way even though he’s really just there for those specific spheres.
How does Desmond know he got the right sphere?
These spheres are marked with the letter of the Isus’ alphabet and each sphere contains a memory of the device he’s looking for.
Mostly experiment logs, chopped off pieces of how to use them…
With the lead Isu scientist pf the project going by the name Yevon.

my dream verse / plot is a collective post x-2 ( even way later years ) of muses that end up enclosed in a conclave to elect a new representative for bevelle. basically, the conclave movie plot. yuna gets put in charge of collecting all the most Important :tm: figures and manage them to get together so they all cast votes until an agreement is reached. she's so tired and she just wants to get it done but she was entrusted with this task being the high summoner. baralai is pacific in a honorable way, and seems the most reasonable to get this position. gippal has the most diabolic vape hit of all time in the bevelle sacred hall. leblanc has insane receipts about everyone as to why they should NOT be considered ( indirectly favoring nooj instead ). they all end up fighting about their beliefs in yevon. do you see the vision.
