Castle Swimmer x Final Fantasy X-2 AU Update

Updated the list a bit and now have some background and plot. :3

PLOT:

At some point Neth gives Siren +10 cool points since the other two girls are being annoying, and he mentions that makes him at -23 since she once said he was at -33.

Neth: “Congrats. Today you graduate to whole numbers.”

Siren: -half distracted- “I knew I’d get there if I only believed...”

“What are you looking at Siren?”

Siren: “Something strange is going on on the screen...” -all three octo crowd around him- “Do you guys always have to invade my personal space when I’m trying to share the screen??”

All 3: “hmmmm...” THEN

Mono: -nods yes-

Mucku: “Yep”

Neth: “Only way to read it, really.”

Al 3 practically squishing his face with theirs.

Siren gets or has a “Merman” dress sphere. May also be the experimental guinea pig for it which leads to a scene of them seeing Siren in a small pool on deck as a shark mer.

Galoo can read memories as in canon, but also see physical fragments of them when she’s close to or in the farplane. Kind of like what happens in X when following Tidus’s dad around in Zanarkand. She falls in the pit like Yuna did by accident somehow and in the pit sees “Shuyin’s” memories of Zanarkand, and then Shuyin attempts to possess her but she’s saved in time by Mono. Galoo follows a helpful memory out. When they get out, Galoo reveals what she can see and they realize the pits are connected to the farplane.

Kappa is from “another time or world” like Tidus, but isn’t a dream of the Fayth. He’s found trapped in stone and released? Or something similar? When Kappa is center, the audience learns what’s up with him.

Everyone is under a “Water Sign”.

Mono, Mucku, and Neth are still “Octalia” though they’re human bodies because their sign is an octopus, which gives them dark magic. Siren is under the shark, of course, which means he gets to keep his sharp teeth, etc.

Koi fish sign are supposed to be extinct, until Kappa. Holy magic carriers from a thousand years ago.

The Octalia defeated Labbu/Sin, but at a great cost. Before, a sacrifice would be chosen at random via a magic roulette that the Octalia refused to be apart of before as they felt sacrificing someone every ten years to keep Labbu happy before he goes on another rampage was the cowardly way out. They were despised for wanting to fight Labbu rather than appease him, and their people were spared from sacrifice (but not Labbu) for a century due to not joining the roulette.

(Don’t know what the roulette is yet)

Sacrificed persons are known as High Summoners and must still go through the whole shibang to get the final summon, which is the final offering.

Reason from the Octalia never worked and they finally decided to do something about it; they threw their hat in the ring, so to speak, and the new High Summoner was Mono. But the Octalia weren’t about to just sacrifice one of their own. Instead, they used it as an opportunity to get rid of Labbu for good, and succeeded... but now there’s only about a dozen of them left. Mono lost her voice, Mucku lost her memories, and Neth lost her arm per canon.

At some point Mono tosses whoever is Beclem into the ocean for being a piece of garbo, which is what Yuna should have done versus that stupid obstacle course. You have nothing to prove to that douchebag!

When Kappa is found by the Gullwings (keeping the name for now) he becomes part of their crew while trying to figure out this new era... doesn’t hurt that the Navigator is cute.

Like Yuna did for Brother, at some point Kappa overhears Siren very plainly confirming to someone else down at the bar he does have a crush on Kappa. Whoever “Brother” is is lamenting, part drunk, his crush on Mono and Siren reminds him Mono is gay. “Brother” suggests if only he was gay he could just date Siren, who pretends to gag. Siren reminds his friend gay doesn’t mean immediate attraction to every person of the same sex and he only puts up with “Brother” because he knows he’s a good guy who is willing to learn and grow. When “Brother” asks why Siren likes Kappa, Siren easily says “He’s cute, funny, sweet...”

Kappa likes seeing Siren as a mer-shark and makes terrible fishing pick-up lines at him.

Mezzo Plays Final Fantasy X-2: Part 14

Yuna is picked up and back on board the Celsius in no time.

Everyone else is relieved to see she's okay.

She takes the time to explain what happened to her, and her meeting with Shuyin and the hot guys. She mentions the name Lenne, and Shinra says something of interest.

So that's who she is? She apparently wore that dress 1000 years ago.

"What Shinra said surprised me, but only a little. So there really was a connection."

Nooj and Gippal seem to have the situation under control, for now.

It's not like the Gullwings can really do anything, anyway.

Before Yuna leaves the bridge, Rikku tries to get some info. Yuna says "Not really, just his face."

A new chapter means the engine room has been restocked with more goodies.

Yuna finds Paine on the deck, and hands the two spheres to her. At first it seems like she doesn't want to talk about it.

But just as Yuna turns to leave, she changes her mind.

"The three of them were candidates for the Crimson Squad. And I was the recorder assigned to their team."

"The best were to be assigned leadership of Crusader chapters across Spira...

The Squad was destroyed before that happened. Most of the candidates died. An accident. The four of us were separated then. Things happened.

I don't get it. I was there. I saw everything. But still, I don't know why it happened that way. Even now.

So I went to look... for some answers."

Yuna: "You became a sphere hunter."

She always did want to fly on this thing anyway.

Rikku pops up to ask what's going on. Paine says she won't tell, and the three of them laugh.

"We used to laugh like this once. The four of us. I've been chasing my past for so long..."

"What about you? Shuyin isn't who you thought, is he?"

This makes Rikku concerned that they'll end up leaving the Gullwings. Both reassure her that that's not happening, yet at least. Rikku and Paine head back inside, leaving Yuna to ponder to herself.

"So many things seem intertwined. But nothing leads to you."

She returns to the bridge as well.

The commsphere network is up and running, and it seems there's trouble afoot. Let's take a look.

Before we do, though, we can also talk to Shinra to view the two spheres given to Paine.

This shows the squad together in Bikanel, fighting some fiends. Things start to look dire, then Nooj just stands in front of one and drops his weapon. Thankfully, they managed to survive.

Paine asks if he's a death seeker, and he confirms it. So why? The only response she gets is "It's my life to throw away."

On the second sphere, we find the squad discussing the then-upcoming Operation Mi'ihen. They wonder if there are truly machina powerful enough to destroy Sin, and what they'll do when the Calm comes.

Baralai: "First he wants to drop dead, and now he's looking for excitement."

The four of them laugh together.

With the commsphere network up and running, we can now check in all across Spira. A few locations don't have spheres installed, since I didn't visit them in chapter 3.

On Besaid we can say hi to Wakka. He tells Yuna that he's got things under control here, but there's trouble across the rest of Spira.

Beclem was apparently recalled to the Youth League HQ.

At Kilika Port, we find the sphere being carried by someone through the town.

She takes it to her home and reveals herself.

The Youth League's having some issues without a leader. They're trying to find a new one, but not having much luck.

She didn't go through with it, because she's too busy looking after herself.

Speaking of, here's the one installed at the Youth League HQ. Yaibal says that he believes Bevelle is planning an attack, and he wants to respond with a preemptive strike.

Yuna has her doubts about this. He ignores her.

Over at Bevelle, it sure doesn't look like they're planning an attack. Maroda is another of Isaaru's brothers, who was once his guardian as a summoner. He's also a Youth League member performing recon. New Yevon must be in quite the mess if they let him walk around the place.

Yuna takes a break to discuss what she saw. Things don't look good.

And there's the Vegnagun threat too. Shuyin's controlling it, and whatever he has planned probably isn't good. Nooj and Gippal are probably trying to destroy it, but...

Yeah, that's an issue.

Nooj asked Yuna to 'take care of things topside'.

But what can she do?

Violence isn't exactly what she had in mind.

Hm.

Hey, that's actually not a bad idea.

They could hold another concert.

And they know just the guy to help with it too.

"I began this journey hoping to find you. But now I know that may never happen. Still, I will keep walking these roads. I have to find where they connect. I have to see for myself."

Let's check out the commspheres again.

Shelinda's interviewing people on the streets of Luca. This woman says "I think it's about time the people in charge stop fooling around and get their acts together."

At Mi'ihen Highroad, Rin is investigating whatever caused the machina to go haywire. Yuna offers to help, and he links her to a network of commspheres set up across the road. I checked all of them, but couldn't find anything of interest.

The one in Djose Temple just gives us this guy, who speaks to us in Al Bhed.

And at the Moonflow, apparently Tobli has disappeared.

The Gullwings will have to check in person. There's no opportunity to stop anywhere else either.

Buddy accidentally dropped them at the road leading to the south bank. He recommends they just walk over there.

Seems we're not the only ones looking for him. These guys appear to be more Al Bhed debt collectors.

There are also some bandits on the road, which are no trouble at all.

Aha, there he is. As soon as they spot him, he runs away.

He's pretty fast too. We have to chase him up and down the road a few times.

Nyoom.

After crashing the sled, he moves to the north bank, and the Gullwings follow.

Well, there's one way to avoid your pursuers.

They eventually meet up with him at the gate to Guadosalam, and tell him about the concert they want to hold. But where should they hold it?

I'm sorry, what? You want to host the biggest crowd in Spira underneath the neverending lightning storm? Okay then.

Tobli's Hypello assistants volunteer to gather people for it.

Above the Calm Lands, the Hypellos leap into action.

Quite literally.

Shinra's working on some tech stuff.

There are quite a few characters that won't be in use as of the time I made this list... But it had been a while since I played the game.

It's too many characters not to use, so I may either make the idea much, much smaller than the game or wait to plan more after I either replay it or watch it.

Additionally, unlike my other two AU's, Mucku, Mono, and Neth would be the "main characters". I just enjoy the idea of transferring their dynamic to this way too much. xD

Anyway, because there's a lot missing and a few details to etch out... Take this with a grain of salt for now.

(The only ones I'm certain about are Siren and the witches.)

I’m thinking about writing either a Castle Swimmer characters in the FFIX or FFX-2 world fic.

I’ve got IX more fleshed out in my head, but X-2 seems funner…

You spend a lot of time with the Youth League, don't you Vi? So what do you think of it's more prominent members? like Lucil, Elma, Yaibal, and Beclem?

❝Lucil is such an incredible lady, like. Wow. She’s really done it all, hasn’t she? Fierce and fantastic, I’m really glad she decided to lend her strength to the Youth League. She’s gonna help take Spira very far, I feel.❞ If he wasn’t annoying Nooj, he was definitely checking up on Lucil and what she was up to. ❝And, like, I admire Elma for similar reasons. She’s got that fire. But, even with all of her fire, her spirit is good and lovely. I really do think Lucil and Elma are two people that make the Youth League complete. Really! They’re nice to me. It makes me happy that they greet me with smiles and respect.❞

Now, for Yaibal and Beclem. They were unforgettable, too.❝I like Yaibal’s drive, his enthusiasm. I wish I was as hyped for something as he is for the Youth League. Like, I believe every great organization needs a hype man. He fills the role super well. Like, don’t you think? Everyone needs zest like he does. It’d make for a better world. Now, Beclem… Ah, he's— I can appreciate someone who’s no bullshit, I guess. I do think he can chill out, I mean. It’s not that serious. Though, I guess when you’ve seen as much shit as he has, you can’t help but to take everything super seriously. I just, uh. I dunno. It’s not that deep, and I hope he realizes that. Not entirely sure how he feels about me. I am an former server of Yevon, after all. Still loosely affiliated by being a sender, or whatever. Whatever. Anyway, I appreciate all of the members.
