Hi, I'm TBSkyen. I make videos on YouTube sometimes. This is my main tumblr blog, the "brand" blog as it were, where I maintain my Social Media Presence™ on this site.

I use the ironic ™ to signal my personal discomfort with the work of being a minor media personality even while I still do that work and make a living off it.

I have a sideblog called @tbposting, mostly for shitposts and reblogs, and in my opinion I have pretty darn good taste in reblogs, so you can follow that if you want. It's also where I'll do random personal posting, microblogging, etc.

This main blog is primarily for 1) answering asks, and 2) posting my Original Content™, usually my main channel videos, as well as the occasional longer essay or critique. Sometimes I'll reblog an interesting or useful thing, or boost a friend's work, but I try to keep the spam to a minimum.

About Me

I am a thirtysomething content creator whose primary expertise is character design.

I have a bachelor's degree in English, never finished my master's, did most of a bachelor's degree in history, and that's it. These are my academic qualifications, no more and no less.

My professional experience is primarily being a freelancer and self-employed creator. I spent the better part of a decade working as a commission artist, running webcomics, drawing fanart, and the occasional animation work and not safe for work commissions, and I have at this point a decade of experience and self-study in the subjects I cover. I have also done online community management for, god help me, almost twenty years, so that's a part of my skillset I'll never escape.

I do not have any particular professional creative industry experience, although given what I hear from my professional friends, sometimes that seems like a blessing.

Please maintain a critical distance when engaging with my work. I am a critic. My work is very rarely meant to be taken as authoritative or didactic, and when it is, I will make it clear in my writing. Just because I speak with confidence doesn't mean I am trying to assert objective truth.

FAQ (before you ask)

Q: Will you ever do a video about ____ ? A: The answer to this question is almost universally "maybe someday, if I have time, and if I feel I have anything worthwhile to say." And the more realistic answer is "no, because I already have far too much on my plate and I have burned myself out too many times." In general, please don't ask me this question, I will most likely not answer it because I have given the same answer a thousand times, but I still feel guilty about not answering them.

Q: Will you continue your series of videos about ____ ? A: Yes! I will continue the let's plays I started, I will finish the Boss Designs series, I will do another What's the Deal With, I will do more shorts about the subjects I've got going on. The main obstacle is, again, my tendency to overload myself.

Q: Do you have a PO box? Can I send you something? A: Not yet, but I'm looking into it. It may be a while before I get it set up.

Q: Do you have merchandise? A: A little bit, yes, at tbskyen.redbubble.com.

Q: What's your opinion on [game/movie/comic/book/etc]? A: I struggle to answer very open, broad questions like this. Most things I have opinions about, I have multiple opinions, and different ones depending on the perspective and specific element in question. I'm much more likely to answer specific, bounded questions.

Q: Can I send you fanart? A: PLEASE. Askbox, tag me on bluesky, send it to my email! I love seeing every piece of it!

Q: Why do you never appear on camera? A: A forest witch cursed me to look not quite but ALMOST like Paul Giamatti in all photos and videos ever taken of me, and his laywers sent me a cease-and-desist.

Q: Are you gay/straight/bi/other? A: The decision I've made for myself, at least for this period of my life, is that privacy is precious, and once given up can never be reclaimed on the internet. I am open about being aromantic (not asexual), because it's a sometimes invisible and underdiscussed identity, and I know it would have helped me a lot to see someone speak about it when I was younger.

The rest of it is for me to know, and for you to speculate about, although preferably somewhere I can't see it. I accept that this is a part of being a Personality, but it still feels weird, y'know?

Q: Is it weird if I find your voice kinda hot? A: I've put a lot of work into developing this voice and making it nice to listen to, so that's not weird at all and I find it quite complimentary, thank you.

I generally don't mind people doing flirty/thirsty posting about or at me, just so long as we all understand that 1) you should never give a stranger like me information which could be used to harm you. Nicer-seeming YouTubers than me have turned out to be monsters.

And 2) it will never go beyond playful online flirtiness. I like to fluster my live chat, I'll flirt back in an ask or a post maybe, but I am not flirting with you, or inviting any kind of closer intimacy with you, the person I responded to.

Think of me like a comedian doing crowd-work at a show - you can chat to me in the bar after the show, but when I asked you what you do for work I wasn't looking for a personal connection, I was doing my work as an entertainer. Please no sending me nudes, or propositions, or confession letters in my email inbox. We are strangers, and I am always performing a persona in public.

I'm not sure why but ever since the internet was blessed/cursed with "Battle for Nightmare Moon" (Reminder I don't support Hypercrystal) It has consumed my brain to the point I have created an entire au based around it. For the longest time, I've wanted to share it, but at the beginning I was stopped by social awkwardness, followed by the Hypercrystal controversy & not wishing to be associated with him. But now that I've used Tumbler more, I've gotten more comfortable sharing this hyperfixation of mine & all the craziness that comes with it. Starting off, here's the general outline in regards to my take on bfnm (I have yet to figure out a name for my version of bfnm). 1. Time frame - Each season would be written to take place during the same time period as their respective bfdi season counterpart (ex. Season 1 - 2010/2012) 2. Gender - Yes, gender. Why? Well to go with the opposite theme, my dumbass brain decided to default gender-swap each character (With a few exceptions, e.i Winner) lest I decide otherwise. Now why am I mentioning this? Because various other takes on bfnm has the cast keep the gender the same as their bfdi counterpart, which sometime causes people to I guess correct me- but hey, these are open-source objects, nor was there confirmed genders. 3. Cast - You think I just limited myself to the opposites? Ha! Lol no. So before the whole Hyper drama (We'll get to that soon), I had planned to involve the characters from another video of his that were also open-sourced (e.i What if bfdi had new team members) as contestants because, like everything else, I could. 4. Hosts - Bringing up the drama again, before such, I decided to have Hypercrystal as a character, being the host. Why? Because every version of bfnm I saw had a mock announcer box of some sort so I wanted to be unique I guess (idk I'm thinking back like 9 months). Now, this hasn't changed in the slightest, for I have pre-planned too much to be ruined by drama, but also out of spite (The trauma I have prepared for this crystal ball). However, that's not the only crystal I've snatched (e.i the 100kly Object show contestants), recreated the assets & all because these goobers are too silly. Oh yeah, also the number hosts are negative versions of themselves (except x, bro became y).

Jiro was on his way to Obscuary, unknowingly being watched over by his dear older brother. It's quite dangerous around Obscuary, after all. Zenji wanted to make sure he was safe.

The dark eerie forest surrounding the dorm was extremely off-putting... but somewhat inspirational too. Maybe Zenji will write his next ballad about this place?

"Edward. Where's Rui? I need to pick something up from him."

It was just like Jiro to so fearlessly stride through the dingy woods, walking with purpose as he made his way to get some herbs from Rui. The charming reaper was usually tending to the garden at this time...but he was nowhere to be found... however, there was another familiar face occupying the garden.

Jiro spoke coldly as he crossed his arms.

"You can just go in the cellar and grab what you need, no need for Rui's blessing. I'm looking for him as well... I'm not feeling well."

"Oh, I remember you. Zenji Kotodama, isn't it?"

Jiro cocked his head.

"If you're not feeling well, you should see someone at Mortkranken or the infirmary. I'm busy right now but if you tell me your symp-

Ed's crimson eyes stared directly into Zenji's. Could he see him too? Or perhaps he was mistaking Jiro for his big brother?

Jiro's brow furrowed at Ed's words and interruption. Just as he was about to correct him, Rui came jogging over.

"Big J! Hey! You haven't been waiting for me long, have you? My bad~"

Ed smiled brightly at Rui's presence and opened his mouth to speak. Rui flashed him a scowl.

"Ed, can you clean your own room? Just this once? I need to help out Big J!"

The lethargic vampire sighed, eyes flashing back to Zenji.

"Fine, fine. I'll just have our other guest keep me company."

"My my, it's not often I see such a kind soul stay in this mortal plane post-mortem. Will you keep me company for a little?"

Rui rolled his eyes before gesturing Jiro to come with him. Zenji bid goodbye to his little brother as he left. He felt comfortable leaving him in Rui's care, Rui is a good man. However... Zenji didn't feel the safest with the sanguine-sucking captain of Obscuary.

Zenji swallowed his fears and took a step forward.

"But of course! Who would I be if I passed up such an opportunity to mingle with the esteemed captain of Obscuary?"

"Great. I have this YouTube video I wanted to show Rui... but it seems he's too busy to indulge in me. "

Zenji lit up at the mention of "YouTube".

"You enjoy watching online videos? That's simply wonderful! Oh, do I have the channel for you!"

Ed's head cocked to the side.

"Really? How about we talk more in my room. I don't like being outside like this, even if it is always night here."

Zenji nodded, following Ed as he turned into a bat and flew into his room through an open window.

Ed's room was... atrocious, to say the least. Zenji had never seen such a filthy and unkept place. The stench alone could kill him all over again. And what's that weird liquid in that jar over there?

"My apologies, it's been a few days since Rui's cleaned the place"

The unsteady poet nodded, forcing a smile on his face. Ed patted the spot next to him on his bed as he pulled out a large tablet, holding it far from his face as he squinted and slowly tapped at the screen.

"Ah, here it is! Isn't this adorable? It's a cat playing the piano!"

"Oh my! This is the cat's pajamas!"

He turned the tablet towards Zenji, showing him the aforementioned video.

"'The cat's pajamas'? Now, that's a phrase I haven't heard in a while..."

"Yes! Language changes and evolves, just like the people who speak it. But I believe nothing holds a candle to the lingo used decades and centuries ago!"

Ed smiled in agreement before going back to tapping away in his tablet.

"My new dear friend, if I may, I'd love to show you the YouTube Channel I mentioned before. It's one of pure creativity, and unfortunately overlooked talent!"

"Oh? Please, do show me!"

The vampire happily handed over his tablet to Zenji who began typing away at the device in a similar manner to Ed.

"Zenji Kotodama Official?"

"Yes! This is where I post all of my best works! My dear friend Haku records and uploads them for me. Kudos where kudos is deserved!"

Ed hummed in intrigue as he browsed through Zenji's most popular uploads. His best one had 20 likes. He tapped on one of Zenji's music videos, Zenji hovering over his shoulder to gauge his reaction.

"Oh my! This is wonderful!"

"Is it not? I pour my heart and soul into my work! I'm over the moon that you enjoy my art!"

The pleased nightstalker nodded as he began to watch another one of Zenji's videos.

"Ah, yes... Your passion reminds me of how tasteful music was back in my day. I need to show this to Rui and Lyca, they'll love it!"

Zenji stood up and spun around with joy.

"Your kind words humble me, new dear friend. Shall we continue basking in the joy of inspired art?"

Ed let out a yawn as he placed his tablet back onto his bedside cabinet.

"Perhaps another time. I'm feeling quite tired, I had a very busy day after all. It's not often I go outside."

"But of course! Get your well-deserved rest, new dear friend! I will return at a later date- when you are feeling more energetic."

The vampire nodded, lazily waving goodbye to Zenji as he phased through the window. Just in time too, Jiro seemed to have finished up getting what he needed from Rui.

Zenji walked with Jiro until he reached the grounds of Mortkranken. He watched with pride as his brother diligently carried boxes of herbs before turning around and making his way back to Hotarubi.

"You were out for a while. Did you get swept away by inspiration again?"

"No, dear Haku! I made a new friend today. The esteemed captain of Obscuary!"

Haku greeted - or more so asked in place of a hello- once Zenji returned to Hotarubi.

"Oh really? Good for you. I'm glad you're back, I was getting worried."

"Oh, Haku! Your concern brings my heart great joy, dear friend!"

"Mmh-hm. I need to go help Subaru with something. Wanna come with?"

Zenji shook his head.

"No, not this time. I have to create a new song in ode to my visit to Obscuary."

"Alright then, good luck."

Haku waved as he left the room, leaving Zenji to his art and practice.

It's the Thought That Counts (Pt. 2)

Junior's POV

My dad and I continued to hug. I didn't know how I could cheer him up, but I knew I had to do something. Hmmmm… I glanced at our huge, flat screen TV and saw a couple walking along the beach. My dad likes to play video compilations of the ocean, because the sound of the waves soothes him. Wait a minute. Dad could invite Luigi to the beach, and propose there! That's perfect! "Dad, Dad!" I exclaimed, pulling away from the hug. "I got it!" "Got what?" he asked. I jumped down from the couch and waved my arms excitedly. "Why don't we all go on a beach vacation! And then you can propose!" Dad looked genuinely interested. "We all?" "Yeah! You, me, Luigi, Mario, Peach, and whoever else!" I said, nearly using all of my fingers to count everyone. Dad also stood up from the couch and began to pace the room. "…That kinda sounds like a plan…" He was quiet for a moment before he made up his mind. For the first time in what seemed like years, he was actually smiling. "Yeah…yeah! Luigi's never been to the Seaside Kingdom, and they say the Sparkling Water blesses couples with true love! "Junior, you're a genius!" Dad bear-hugged me and loudly kissed my forehead. "Thank you, son!!" Despite my slight embarrassment, I blushed and let out a giggle. He put me on his shoulder and hardened his face in determination. "KAMEK!" he bellowed. A few moments later, Kamek shuffled into the room. "Yes, sire?" he asked. "Send out invitations to the Bros., and Peaches. I'm getting ENGAGED!!!"

Luigi's POV

"Mario, fratellino, did you forget to buy some tomatoes?" It was just an ordinary day for me and Mario. I was making pizza (yes I know, very Italian), and I didn't have enough tomatoes for my secret sauce. "Oh, I'm sorry baby!" my brother called. "I'll go down to the store, hopefully they're still open." "Don't forget to buy some milk too!" I said. "And get some strawberries, I hear hedgehogs like those." "OK!" Mario went to the cage of our pet hedgehog, Sonic. "You wanna come to the store, buddy?" he cooed, scooping the little furball out of the cage. "Get some treats?" Sonic grunted excitedly, and nuzzled Mario's face. Mario put him in the pocket of his trousers. "I'll be back soon!" he said. "Bro, I'm pretty sure they won't let you have a hedgehog in the store," I laughed. Mario grinned. "Watch me." I laughed again as he exited the house. But as I was about to start kneading the pizza dough, he came back inside. "Went to check the mail…there's some kind of invitation from Bowser." I blushed slightly. "Bowser? …Why didn't he just call or send a text?" My boyfriend had never sent a letter before. I did my best to swallow my excited nerves and calm my heart. "D'you wanna read it, or should I?" Mario asked. "It's sent to both of us." I dusted my flour-y hands and grabbed the envelope. "I'll do it…" I carefully open the letter and cleared my throat. "Ahem… "…greetings to you, Mario Bros…it is the King's honor and request to have you join him… "…on a 10-day trip to the Seaside Kingdom." Mario squinted. "The Seaside Kingdom? Where's that?" More importantly, why did Bowser want to take me and Mario to the beach…in the middle of February?

The Great Covid Beatles Binge, Day 2: Give My Regards to Broad Street

Hoo boy, here we go!

OK so we open with a stern/bored looking Paul stuck in traffic in the rain and it looks like he's spacing out... hey, Paul, are you starting to daydream? Paul? Is this whole movie about to be a dream, Paul? Oh god

This silly little car! The computer, the carpet, the pool ball gear shift. It's giving the 80's car version of the Beatles house in Help! It's also giving hyper-masculine in a way that is, I'm sorry, not convincing.

This plot is already deeply inscrutable. Something about some missing tapes, a reformed criminal that Paul knows somehow and trusts for some reason, and some ominous business men. Something bad will happen at midnight if the tapes aren't found. OK!

Ringo looks so cool and hot! That vest over that sick as hell dragon shirt. Yes. This scene is genuinely funny, too -- Ringo spends the entirety of "Here, There and Everywhere" and "Yesterday" searching through his mountains of drum equipment looking for brushes, only to find them too late. Apparently, the reason for this scene is that Ringo just didn't want to re-record old Beatles songs!

And now we have Paul, Ringo, George Martin and Geoff Emerick all together in a scene! Makes me think about how George Harrison apparently was a little miffed Paul didn't just call him to ask for filmmaking advice since it was something he had experience with. What could have been!

“Wanderlust” is such a great song, actually, damn.

“I’m not a bad boy, really. I’m just — er, manipulated” John??

Now this is more like it! Surprise Linda in drag, hell yes!

I don't know why this scene is happening? It's a rehearsal for... something? But I'll take it. I love "Ballroom Dancing" and I love vaudeville Paul.

I'm starting to feel like Paul's grandpa in AHDN, "so far, I've been in a train and a room, and a car and a room, and a room and a room." Did Paul's experience on that set define what a movie is to him? "Ah yes, a movie must include lots of transportation from one location to another and then some musical scenes." But dear, it worked because there were jokes! And all four of you to play off each other.

I.......... what

This is Silly Love Songs, of all things!

Again, I don't know why this scene is happening in the context of the movie. Is it another rehearsal for something? A music video? Television special? Who knows, Yoko! But OK here we go, I sure am having fun! Linda is extremely into it. That slap bass kills. There's a Michael Jackson impersonator for some reason? Sure! It makes no sense but I love this man and his bizarre beautiful mind.

So now we're doing band rehearsal in some kind of barn? Or abandoned warehouse? Or something? All of the plot of this movie seems to happen in dialog in cars en route to some ambiguous musical engagement.

“Do you think we can get some heat in here or are we practicing to be Canadians?” God bless you, Ringo.

“Should we try Not Such a Bad Boy” “Do we have to?” “Yeah” Bossy Paul bosses around a Beatle, we love to see it.

Is this song about him or John? 

The French horn player coming in late to record "For No One," inexplicably in a bright red motorcycle helmet, so late that he’s preparing up until right before the solo starts. Reminds me of that story of Ringo recording Hey Jude. But it also feels very symbolic of something. There are so many odd inscrutable details in this movie, it could almost be Lynchian in someone else's hands.

“We’re running, and running out of time too” It feels meaningful but I don't know how.

Hello Mr. Darcy! Wow, can I have an entire movie that’s just this Victorian dream sequence? Can we go back in time and do a Beatles movie period piece, please??

The strings in this which are inspired by but are not quite "Eleanor Rigby" are lovely. Apparently this whole sequence is called "Eleanor's Dream," which implies that Paul is Eleanor. Make of that what you will, I suppose.

I like that Linda is a pants-wearing photographer in this period scene. Linda's gotta Linda.

This strikes me as very Evil Beatles. Again, make of that what you will.

Barbara and Linda are acting the HELL out of this going over the waterfall scene damn.

I don't know, I could screen grab this entire segment, it's amazing, it's insane.

But I can't gloss over Paul being horny for Ghost Horse Girl Linda. Incredible.

"That’s it you’re finished. What are you gonna do now?" Well ok at least this one is pretty obviously a reference to the critical reception of his career after the Beatles and again after John.

"Uncle Jim" Ok so I guess this is supposed to be his dad, but what is the point of this scene? And why the monkey? The further I get into this film the more I feel like I am looking deep into this man's psyche but through the murkiest of windows. I'm here for the weird dream symbolism, Paul, but if you're gonna go that route, again go full Lynch and get even weirder.

Just the straight up original recording of "Band on the Run" feels out of place with all these re-records. I wonder why that choice.

His car license plate is "PM 1" That's right, baby, you're number 1.

Another little cute but inconsequential day dream (presumably within the dream that is this entire movie). He looks like Roy Orbison here.

Oh ok Harry was just locked in a cupboard this whole time. So the whole "plot" was pointless. Cool cool cool.

Paul and Harry being giddy and laughing together is cute though, and it makes me wish that that relationship was fleshed out more. Who are they to each other, exactly??

OK so this was definitely barely a movie. There could have been something here, but I'll go back to what I said above -- I wish he'd gone weirder with the whole thing! And I wish Paul himself had been weirder. The character Paul is kind of a dud, just plodding along from place to place and only coming alive when he performs. It's like that Hawaiian shirt is supposed to be a stand in for characterization. But worth it for the music video scenes and for getting a tiny glimpse into Paul's psyche.

While I appreciate the respect and I'm glad you enjoy my work, I'll ask that you don't produce this dub. To put it simply, I don't want the comic to develop any larger of an audience. I'd like to let it fade into obscurity. If you were just looking for a yes or no, there. But if you want more of an explanation, continue reading.

When evil hall blew up, it put me in the spotlight pretty quick. I kinda became a bit of a celebrity within the Tally Hall fandom. And while it was cool initially, it pretty quickly became a bit of a burden. Multiple times I had people harassing me, borderline stalking me, I kept getting pulled into dramas, I had multiple friends turn out to be awful people, and generally I didn't enjoy just being "the evil hall guy." I didn't like being reduced to just my tally hall content. I also didn't like being set to this higher standard and treated like a celebrity. Not only did it create this weird barrier between me and my fans, but it also opened up a wave of people insulting me specifically just because I was the author of a popular thing.

I dont say this to try and garner sympathy, but rather just to help set the stage. In June I released a shitpost dub of the entire comic, and announced it would be the last thing Evil Hall I would do. Plain and simple, I no longer enjoyed working on the comic. What started as a passion project quickly became more of a burden, hense the indefinite hiatus (ironic) that happened after the last chapters finished by me. Infact I'd say those last few months were probably the most paranoid I've been.

With this in mind, I decided the only viable option was to just. Cut the rope. End Evil Hall, and quietly ask that the fandom respected my wishes in letting it fade into obscurity. Allowing it to continue existing would sort of leave me in this endless limbo, where I'd never truly be free from the comic. While I still get an occasional outlier, for the most part the fandom actually listened, which I am incredibly greatful for. I've been able to completely exit that bubble and return to an environment I'm much more comfortable in.

TLDR: Ive moved on from the comic and i really just want everyone else to as well, cause the tally hall fandom is hell

Hi! I’m Lucky! Use any and all pronouns for this blog, it doesn't have a gender at all.

I’m a panromantic, asexual writer, potter, and architect. I've been doing pottery since I was 7, and I set my life to become an architect around the same time. I read my absolute favorite series EVER (Percy Jackson and the Olympians), which has radically shaped my life, when.... I was also 7. Guess that was a big year for me.

I'm a huge fandom enthusiast who gets way too into the things that I enjoy. I'm in many o' fandom, but you'll mainly find me interacting in the Percy Jackson + Riordenverse, The Marauders (occasionally the normal Harry Potter), Dimension 20, and the MCYT (HermitCraft, Life Series, Empires, etc.) fandoms.

I'm currently writing a Marauders era fic! You can go to this post (which is extremely long fair warning) to learn more about it, but it follows the characters' journey through Hogwarts and the first Wizarding War (so 1971-1981). I don't know yet if it's cannon compliment, but right now it can be read as one.

I do not support any type of oppression. I'm a very moral person, and I don't like it when people are getting hurt. I don't care if it's a government who's doing it, or a group of otherwise good people. If they're hurting people, I don't support it and will go to lengths to go against it, fuck whatever rules are set in place. I'll happily throw hands and get in trouble for it, I don't care.

My favorite artists as of the current moment are Barns Courtney, Skid Row, Hozier, and Queen. I have a very wide range of music that I listen to, but whenever one of their songs comes on, I just get really happy.

I am a proud user of the block button on here. If I don't like/whatever a blog is doing doesn't sit with me right, I'll block it. Curating content is a very important thing, and my mental health is bad enough without a dash full of things that make it worse. Same thing goes with the content I make: if you have something to say about it and aren't being respectful about it, your comments will be removed and your blog will be blocked. I don't take shit.

I figured out I was asexual when I was very young. When I was in fifth grade my friend told me how sex worked and I fully didn't understand wtf was going on with that. Being sexualized and talking about sex in an explicit way makes me extremely uncomfortable, it always has. I don't like a lot of things in a lot of fandoms because it is hyper-sexualized and just makes me want to curl up and die (Yes I'm looking at you Jegulus, but I'm planning on writing it different because I do enjoy the ship). If you sexualize any part of this blog or me, we're going to have a serious issue.

I love writing, but I'm still in school, so I don't have the time very often to do so. I try and do the best with what little time I do have, though. If you want any writing advice of any sort, feel free to ask. I love helping people, and if I can do that with something I love, it's even better.

I play video games! My favorites are Minecraft, LoZ Breath of the Wild, and Brawlhalla. You won't typically see this type of content on my blog, I just kinda wanted to throw it out there.

I finally decided what I'm going to do with this Tumblr Account! Aside from the typical reposts of my art, self-promotion and such, I'm going to use it primarily as a live, public diary of my adventure in Vtubing, streaming and content creation, so here goes my very first entry. I think I'm going to try to do this daily, at the very least I'll make one weekly and on big events.

Dear Tumblr,

it's currently 1:22 AM, 12/11/23. I've been interested in becoming a Vtuber for roughly a year now, and have slowly done tons of research, watched hours of Vtuber content for fun and advice, built up art and assets, came up with a new Sona design, customized models, and have spent hours upon hours of work making art and assets related to that goal. Boy they really don't tell you how much work it is to be a streamer/content creator, especially when you're broke and doing it all by yourself. Speaking of broke... I'm currently out of work, money is very low, and I'm very stressed out. I made the mistake of leaving my old job for a new one that I hoped would be a good opportunity, but I had to leave on day one for moral and public health reasons I won't get into. I have put in dozens of applications the last two weeks and have mainly only received automated emails; I have done 2 Zoom interviews for two different jobs, and then was never given a call or email back. My old job won't take me back for reasons beyond me. I admitted this in an OkayDonuts stream a day or so ago, and he said similar issues motivated him to start streaming. This gives me so much hope that I can have the great community and career success that he has that I so desire-If he could do it, so can I! Right? I just really like making stuff, I've always liked learning new techniques both physical and digital; crochet, clay sculpting, wood carving, painting, graphic design, 3D modelling/Texturing, game design. I wasn't good at much as a kid, but art was my passion, and the best part was seeing how happy it made other people. I just want to make cool things that make people happy and create a community of similarly creative people to share our passions and bring more kindness and cool creations into the world. I don't want to be an uber rich Mr. Beast level celebrity, I just want to make enough that I don't need a menial job I suffer at. Simply making a decent living in this world off my art would be a blessing, it would be so much better for my mental health. Speaking of which, if you're reading this....did you know I take commissions? Please commission me, I hungy :'( But seriously, as of writing this, I have $43.20 in my bank account. My phone bill alone is $45. My partner and I have family support, so we'll get by ok, but the struggle and having to ask for help is really getting to me. On the bright side, since we should count our blessings- I have a really nice microphone since my partner tried streaming a couple years ago and is letting me use it whenever I need! I have a really good laptop from my college days that can run everything I need without getting TOO overwhelmed. I have a really good drawing tablet that I bought a couple years ago when I was doing a little better financially (It's much easier to save money when you're living with your parents and work 40 hours a week for $13/hr and your parents pay for everything) Losing my job may be a blessing in disguise because In my stress I have gone into a manic state and began going crazy getting my custom stream Overlays done, fully animated Stream Opening, BRB and Closing Screens, stinger transition animation, a functioning PNGTuber, and multiple drawings/animations for alerts/emotes/rewards/etc. and yes that includes things I didn't know I needed to be a Twitch Affiliate to even use...lol...I'm currently working on an animated lore video for my debut that I will also record a voice-over for. Lastly, a more recent thing-My partner found a gamer chair in the dumpster at our apartment last week after I had spent a couple months trying to find one-the cheapest ones on Facebook Marketplace in our area were like $80-and it's in near perfect condition, only a bit of scuff/rip on the seat and arm rests. How crazy is that? I gave it a good scrub-down and its good to go. I choose to take that as a sign from the universe that I'm on the right path. Wish me luck! With lots of love, Kaeru Kobold

A: I use an iPad and I do all my drawings in Procreate now. I like to experiment with brushes, but the primary brushes I use come standard with Procreate. I use the "Procreate Pencil" for my sketches and the "Technical Pen" for linework :)

A: You are so very sweet for asking ❤️ We're all doing really good right now. My dad's surgery went great and he's cancer free and fully healed. My mom is on medication that's helped her a lot. Things are also looking up for my younger sister (she even got engaged this Christmas!). I'm stressed but for good reasons hahaha I'm very thankful and counting my blessings right now.

Anon asked: What's your creative process when going into writing / planning for a comic? Apologies if this has been asked before.

A: I normally start by just jotting down any super rough concepts/quotes in my notes app. If the piece I'm doing involves stuff I don't know by heart (renaissance clothing or certain landscapes or anything like that) I'll work on gathering a TON of resource images. That way I'm not interrupting my drawing process by repeatedly stopping to look up references. I try to do it all up front and have it saved somewhere I can easily access.

Once I have more time, I'll write out the script in a Google Doc. I break up the script by each panel. I won't always have all the elements ready in my head, and sometimes I'll combine panels or separate them more, but I can always adjust:

Once I have a basic script, I can start to rough out the drawings/panels. These are just gestural drawings; I'm not looking to do anything too detailed here. I'm trying to figure out what best captures the emotions/energy of the scene and determine the natural flow of where your eyes will want to read the art and word bubbles:

Then I move on to the "pencils." This is my opportunity to nail down the expressions and flow. Sometimes I'll realize the page is imbalanced so I will redesign the panels so it has more even weight distribution or make it more dynamic/emotional. I always draw the characters in different colors so it can help me make sure I know what lines belong to which character:

A: I liked the relationship we saw between Longclaw and baby Sonic in the movie, but I consider the movie as something entirely separate from the game/comic canon. I don't include any of the movie elements as part of my AU.

A: Hmm, I think my favorite thing about him is how open he is with his emotions. In this show, he's very verbal about how much he cares about his friends and he doesn't hide it when he's sad or upset about something. In other media, Sonic has a habit of masking his emotions. I get that that's part of his personality, but it's nice to see this different side of him. (I also like how he showed more emotions in Frontiers, too!)

A: In the words of Young Neil, 'that's kind of a big question' haha. Simply put, the franchise just fuels me with excitement and joy and love! The character Sonic represents happiness and freedom and living in the moment and loving life to the fullest and I think that's such a great outlook to have. From a meta standpoint, I love how good the Sonic Team is to us fans. They engage with us regularly and put out SO MUCH CONTENT for us, more than any other franchise I'm aware of! I mean there are plenty of other great IPs out there, but you don't get the bombardment of games and shows and comics and social media engagement (etc) that you get with Sonic. I just think that's so cool! The fans love Sonic so much and the creators know that and reward us for our commitment. It's awesome.

A: I gotta go with my boy Sonic! But of course it's better when they team up :D

A: If they're related, I think it makes more sense for Shadow to be Silver's grandpa or great grandparent. I think there are plot holes to say that he's directly his dad but I'm definitely open to them being related. Plus I think people can headcanon/au just about whatever they want, so I'm not against that theory :)

A: Thank you so much, I hope you are too! Oh man this was so difficult but I put a ton of thought into it. And I'm sure there are still tons of actors I'm not thinking of who would be better, but here's what my gut tells me: Older Sonic: Max Greenfield [x] [x] or Jack Quaid [x] [x]. They're so witty and handsome and are built like runners! Younger Sonic: Jack Dylan Grazer Older Amy: Alison Brie. Even if it wasn't a live action movie, I so desperately wish that Alison Brie could be Amy's voice actor. I'm actually working on an animation where Amy is paired with some Alison Brie lines because I think it's such a perfect fit. She's sweet and funny and strong and sexy. She's on the petite side but she has that confidence that just commands a room. A: Firstly, I've said this before but I don't think Mobian age works the same as human age. I consider the Sonic Boom characters as all being what we'd consider as late teens or young adults. They all act like me and my friends did when were were college age haha

A: That's what Tall!Tails is all about! I think he shot up in height and outgrew Sonic immediately. Maybe he got a bit more snarky and might mutter about how annoying it is that Sonic doesn't think things through before acting, but Tails is a sweetheart and I think he'd overall still be nice even while he's in that awkward stage of life.

A: Aurora has photokinesis, which gives her the ability to manipulate light. This results in a lot of things she's able to do that involve light, but glowing is the easiest thing for her to do (and is the hardest for her to suppress lol). She was born with these abilities but they didn't manifest until she was about preteen age.

A: Absolutely! Her powers are severely influenced by her emotions, so the color of her glow would definitely change based on her feelings. I have her inhibitors glow green naturally, but she could do any color under the light spectrum.

A: Oh that is just too sweet! That metaphor is very perfect for what I write for her romantic future ;) I have said in a previous ask that Thumbelina is her favorite fairytale, but I like your headcanon too!

A: Of course! She's just a regularly lady so she gets sick like average people do. I see her as the type that doesn't get sick often, but when she does it LAAAASTS. (That's how I am and it sucks!)

Anon asked: I know this might be a weird question, but can it be possible if Aurora can do chaos control with a chaos emerald like Sonic and Shadow.

A: I'll be honest, because we don't know much about Chaos Emeralds, I don't know who is capable of using them or not. But because Sonic is capable of using Chaos Control, I'm going to say yes Aurora should be able to as well. I don't think it's a technique either of them can master like Shadow does. Chaos Control seems second nature to Shadow.

Anon asked: if we go by sonic underground lore imagine Aurora finding out that she's technically a princess/duchess. Like sonic always call her princess because that's what dad's typically call their daughters, but then she finds out and her mind just explodes.

A: Honestly, I'm not a Sonic Underground fan. I know a lot of people love it for the nostalgia, but I didn't watch it growing up so I don't have any ties to it and I am not a fan of the story. I'm okay if people want to headcanon tying it in, but it's not for me.

When Tails and CC first started watching horror movies together, CC noticed that Tails was super on edge. To help relax him, she'd take his tails into her lap and pet them to calm him down. A: Ahhh thank you so much! I always thought my Doctor Who art got lost in the void so I'm so glad you found it! TenRose is my favorite DoctorWho ship, so I think by law I have to relate them to sonamy haha. But honestly I think RoryXAmyPond suits sonamy more if you reverse the roles. Rory's absolute dedication to AmyPond--regardless of death--was the definition of love, and that's how I feel Amy Rose is for Sonic. I can't think of any other ships that are good parallels. River Song reminds me of Rouge just that she's savvy and flirty. Forgive me, I stopped watching after Eleven regenerated so I'm not up to date on anything. A: I don't want to reveal too much until I've properly drawn it, but yes for my stories Shadow would confess his love first. He's technically loved her longer since he met her when she traveled back in time to save him so once they've "re-met" I don't think he'd be willing to hide his feelings too long. It's Shadow so of course it has to be so romantic and dreamy~!

ASKS RE: MY GAME

Anon asked: How did you make the Trick Or Sweet Halloween Game, can you show me what you used or did to make it? If you can do a step by step that would be helpful or just tell me how you did it that would be helpful:))

A: Oh man... Honestly, it was way too complicated of a project to explain in just one answer. And I won't be able to explain any of the technical/coding side. I watched so many tutorials but I just couldn't grasp it, so my husband had to code it for me and I have no idea how he managed it. From a non-technical standpoint, I had to first write out the script for it. That means writing out all the dialog and also writing out every option possible. Even though my game was fairly linear, this was still complicated to write. What helped me was using icons and colors to help me know which actions would lead to which outcomes:

Then came the longest part, the drawing! I had to draw a variety of sprites and backgrounds and objects. Also, some of the actions you take make certain items go away, so I had to remember to hide them depending on the path you took. Once I had all the elements, I assembled them in a Slides presentation to test it out. If you're not doing anything too complicated, you could probably get away with making your game entirely in Google Slides. Mine was too complicated and I wouldn't be able to publish it to my website but it was good for testing. When it was ready for build, I had to make a comprehensive guide for Ryan showing what clicks lead to where, what sound effects should be played when, when the music tracks should switch, etc:

He programmed it in Adobe Animate. I don't know how he did it, other than he's just a brilliant babe and I thank god for him lol
