fav thing about the knives out movies is that it “doesn’t matter” who the culprit is at the end of the story, not really anyway.
yes it’s satisfying when benoit reaches the conclusion that “a-ha! it was Annoying Rich Jerk #6 all along.” but it’s even more satisfying when our WOC protagonist ends up prevailing over ALL the Annoying Rich Jerks. it doesn’t matter that Chris Evans and Edward Norton are the culprits, every single one of the wealthy assholes deserve comeuppance for lying, stealing, cheating, being casually bigoted, etc.
i just love how rian johnson builds a compelling mystery every time and gets us interested in a whole array of suspects — only for us to realise at the end that they are all deserving of exposure, of being toppled.

To that anon, it's not people saying "Chris is a "flop" since Marvel" never heard one person saying this, just his "fans" .
The only comments I always read from people/general public is that CHRIS EVANS IS A REALLY TALENTED ACTOR AND DESERVES TO BE IN BIG AND GOOD MOVIES. And they keep mentioning his big roles like Snowpiercer, Gifted, DJ (series), Puncture, Sunshine, KO. Beside Captain America of course.
This is what I always read from general public and everyone and trust me I basically live on the internet so I check every comment etc and they end up on my homes.
GENERAL PUBLIC LOVE CHRIS AND THEY WANT THE BEST FOR HIM BECAUSE THEY ARE AWARE HOW TALENTED HE IS AND THAT HE CAN ACT HIS ASS OFF WITH THE RIGHT DIRECTORS !!!!
I think overall, the GP mostly know Chris from Marvel, Knives Out, a niche group would know Snowpiercer and Sunshine. For a lot of the GP they don't know the main differences between the Hollywood Chrises. However, I think they're like, "Oh, that guy! I like him."
Chris is a very captivating actor. I've said it once, and I'll say it again, he demands attention when he's on screen. Your eyes just naturally gravitate towards him.
But to be fair, how many of the GP watched Ghosted? Pain Hustlers? The Gray Man? I think that's where some of us struggle with are the GP watching all of Chris' movies? Probably not. Or if they do, is it memorable? This isn't me picking on Chris by any means, because I could say the same thing about Hemsworth, Pratt, and he who shall not be named 🤫
At the end of the day Chris is carving the career that HE wants. As long as HE is fulfilled, and satisfied with the work, I'm not sure why it matters at all. I think there's a lot of people that want him to be the award bait actor, and I've just never got that vibe from him. I think he wants to be respected, and yes, praised even. But I also think he wants to enjoy his time at work.
I hope that he thinks about stepping behind the spotlight again. Whether directing OR writing.

Something that interested me with Before We Go is it’s success on VOD.
Here’s the article on deadline that spells it out: https://deadline.com/2015/09/chris-evans-before-we-go-vod-hit-radius-1201512733/amp/
Now that’s a fanbase! That’s the success that a dedicated fanbase will bring in by seeking out a little movie he directed and starred in.
While he’ll always have fans I’m sure but,
1. there’s always going to be the next star possibly coming up to replace him.
2. He’ll have Marvel fans but only for nostalgia purposes if he does a future Cameo as Cap or Human Torch.
3. Many recognize him as Captain America, but not Chris Evans. My friends and family can only name Knives Out as the only other movie he’s been in. They don’t even remember Fantastic Four. Only my friends who also had celebrity dream crushes on him know his other work and projects.
So yes, Chris I’m sure will always have fans. However, I do not see him repeating the success of Before We Go again now that he is losing half his fanbase (my guesstimate watching all of this). A Godiva ad isn’t going to trend for him now IMO.
Unless his Gene Kelly project gets an awesome hot director and attracts other key talent to the project, I just don’t see it being a big win for him. Chris really has an awful script picker. He should have stayed in Project Artemis instead of doing Pain Hustlers. I will laugh my ass off if Project Artemis does well now.
Honestly, I’m kind of confused by the wedding promotion. Unless it’s to promote Pain Hustlers (which kind of icky, but that’s how HW works). If he intends to fade into the horizon for a few years to have that family he keeps talking about, then why all these articles for a wedding? Or is this his last Hurrah for awhile?
Unfortunately, leaving Project Artemis was dictated by Jason Bateman leaving it as director and setting the filming schedule back. It then conflicted with Red One filming, and he had committed to that film first.
I think that the weddings being so heavily promo'ed should set off everyone's internal alarm that neither of them are really quitting their careers to go play "happy homemakers" in the suburbs. If that's all they meant to do, there would be one little blurb in People and that's the end of it. This level of overkill is trying to drum up interest from producers/directors/the public in their future projects or to get interest to call their agents with project offers. None of this is organic, as nothing through any of this has been.

Whoo this article is brutal and the writer threw so much Shade at Chris, Dwayne and Ryan Reynolds, but……the writer didn’t lie.
https://www.the-independent.com/arts-entertainment/films/features/chris-evans-red-one-b2642572.html
On the positive side, Chris still has hope to turn his career around to better, so I’m hoping after RedOne is done, his next three movies are well received by critics and audiences alike.
Dude is still so likable and loved that even though the writer threw major shade, they still see a bright future for Evans if he just gets his winning go to formula back and his head back in the game.
Now as a fan, I too expected better after his Marvel run, but his projects haven’t been THAT bad compared to other actors, but that also depends on which actors he’s compared to, we had high expectations from him after Marvel but the difference of where he was with Knives Out vs now is huge.
So, here’s to hoping Chris gets his head right and cleans up his professional and personal life so we can get back to the Chris everyone knows and loves. 🥰 that man still has all the potential in the world, but he has to want it for himself. He needs to go back and study his earlier work and maybe he can see how his acting has changed, but I think he over does it in comedy’s now because he’s trying to copy Ryan Reynolds. He doesn’t need to do that, he has his own natural charm and perfect comedic timing as displayed in (The Losers, What’s Your Number, Fantastic Four movies, Scott Pilgrim, Nanny Diaries, Cellular, Before We Go, Push, etc)
So many people are still rooting for this dude, he just needs to end the obvious bs and get back focused on his craft. He did pretty good in Pain Hustlers.
Hopefully we get a career rebirth from him. 💙
Yes good luck to him.

who i write for
i first want to say thank you so much for all the support this blog has received; all the reblogs, likes and comments are so, so appreciated, beyond words, so you’ll just have to trust me when i say i’m really grateful, especially because i know i don’t write much — i have no idea how blogs you upload like every two or three days (or everyday) do it, i admire you.
and i do want to say a new one shot will be released soon! promise. please stick around.
i first started this blog by saying i’d write for marvel and harry potter, mainly, and that i wanted to write for rick and morty, the end of the fucking world, and some other random shows i like; that’s changed, i’m not into harry potter anymore. i am sebastian stan’s wife, guys, so i’m mainly going to write for his characters; two days ago i watched fresh (yes for the first time, i’m aware i’m late) so steve kemp fics are coming up. so, here’s a list for characters i write for:
marvel
- bucky barnes
- loki laufeyson
- stephen strange
- steve rogers
- wanda maximoff
but these are not concrete, if you have a suggestion or request for any other marvel characters, send them my way! i’ll be happy to look into it, i’ll be happy to write for it.
other
- sebastian stan as steve in fresh
- chris evans as lloyd hansen in the gray man
- chris evans as ransom drysdale in knives out
for sebastian stan characters, i’d love to write for charles blackwood (we have always lived in the castle), nick fowler (the 355), and max burnett (sharper) but i have yet to watch these films. at the time of writing this, i am still recovering from fresh, and therefore can not watch any other sebastian stan films because i’m in my steve kemp era, thank you.
stay safe and take care!
love, cinnamon girl.

Thanks for the tag @practicalghost
Last song: First Burn from Hamilton because I am a musical theatre nerd at heart.
Last show: I'm pretty sure the last actual show I watched was Andor.
Last movie: 2010's The Losers. Not as good as A-Team, but I am a fan of Chris Evans.
Currently watching: Mando S3, of course, and Ningen Fushin. It's an anime with a really long title.
Currently reading: Technically, I'm between books, but I am trying to read the books for the sequel trilogy (SW EP 7-9) because I wanted to see if the hints to Reylo were really there. (Also, the characters feel very different in the books than in the movies. I honestly don't like Rey.)
Current obsession: I don't like using the word obsession, but am I upset that I have no one to talk to about The Inheritance Games and its sequel The Hawthorne Legacy?!?! Yes. Yes, I am. It's really good. It's like Knives Out but with more teenagers. If you haven't read it, you should.

Sonic really seems like the Knives Out of comic movies at this point. (yes I know it was a video game first but let's be real it's a superhero film franchise at this point, and that's okay.)
Jim Carrey was about to retire from acting when he got the Eggman role, and loves doing Eggman so much he's willing to repeatedly come out of retirement for it.
Keanu Reeves has apparently said he'd rather do Shadow than end up in Marvel or Star Wars.
Meanwhile Knives out is the show that let Chris Evans say "eat shit" to a room full of A-list actors one by one immediately after his Marvel contract was up.
Daniel Craig was fed up with acting after doing James Bond so long that he kept getting typecast as him on other projects, until Benoit Blanc.
While I can't really speak to the treatment of VFX workers on Sonic (I assume it's awful) both series at this point seem to be a haven for actors wanting to have fun with a role, even if it's not the sort of thing they'd normally be expected to do.

No because my obsession with Knives Out is not actually about Daniel Craig. I mean, it started there. I came for him and stayed for everyone else. It’s one of the warmest, funniest, kindest films I’ve seen in the last decade and I’m never going to shut up about it.
#I mean Toni Colette as a Gwyneth Paltrow parody?! fuck yes! it was so good#and Ana de Armas??????#incredible#chris evans????#I didn’t even like chris evans that much before knives out!!!!#goddammit it’s so good#the mix of vintage mysteries with family drama and modern social issues is genuinely unique#like I went book shopping after seeing it and asked a fellow knives out obsessed bookseller for books that would match that vibe#and we got close but there was nothing that captured it the mix of all that and humour#anyway I’ve written enough tags now#❤️ u forever knives out#very excited to see the expansion into the mamma mia universe#knives out#glass onion

Let’s just sum this up
Chris Evans is a good looking dude who was able to sell his image thanks to Steve Rogers.
After he quit playing him he kinda lost himself and also what he stands for.
Due to a midlife crisis he is trying to invent himself new but he is failing.
Yes. That’s about it.
I’m a big advocate in actors going to therapy after a job. I think it’s a good way to get back into you mind, instead of the character. Now we have Chris who played Steve Rogers for 10 years. He had some decent success with Knives Out, then the pandemic. He gets on social media, then ASP, then he turns 40 and it’s just non stop. I couldn’t imagine the complex playing Steve Rogers for all those years gave him. But Chris is going to Chris.

I really feel like they were banking on the big names to bring in viewership for PH because every clip I've seen and the trailers really does...nothing for me. I'm the opposite. With Ghosted, yeah it was cringey but I'm a suckered for Hallmark cringey so I gave it a fair chance. Hell, even with The Gray Man and Knives Out I was drawn in by the trailer to see the movie. (Knives Out more than TGM, but still stands) With this, I have 0 interest in seeing the movie, even with "Chris Evans and Emily Blunt" as the title names. It just feels...off. And while, for me, a percentage is his current life choices giving me the ick, there is something else there that just feels weird with the clips and trailer. I'm still undecided if I want to get a Netflix account to watch it or not. TGM had action, even my grandparents watched it on a lazy Sunday afternoon once! 🤣, but I can not see casual viewership on this one, I'm sorry. It just feels bland and over done. Chris' accent shifts mid sentence really throws me off and Emily's character feels very bland to me, but we shall see. 🤷♀️ I loved him in DJ, I wish he would do another series - in my opinion, his acting shines through when he is able to stretch and develop his character. Like I really believed he was Andy Barber, I felt it. And then same with Lloyd and Ransom, which yes were movies, but there's something about those 2 that I connected with...but I'm glad to see you mention Snowpiecer, and then an Anon mentioned Push. Those are two other characters that he did really well in.
My problem with PH is I feel I've already seen this movie. It's just hitting too many tropes from other movies in a way which does not introduce something new. I'll watch a bad movie with a different and new premise over something which feels like regurgitation.
