One of the things that always drives me nuts about the Oct 3 entry is how Arthur and Quincey come to Renfield’s cell and they all just sit there waiting to hear from him what happened, when they already should be able to conclude that 1) this is not an accident, he has been attacked; 2) there is no attacker present nor was any seen entering or leaving, so the attacker is probably Dracula; 3) there’s therefore a pretty strong chance Dracula can get inside the asylum; 4) ergo, someone should go check on the Harkers to see if they’re in danger. I was just sitting listening to Re: Dracula and fuming as they wasted time.

If Van Helsing had sent Arthur and Quincey to get their anti-vampire supplies and check on the Harkers while he and Seward operated on Renfield, instead of waiting for certainty, Dracula might have been stopped. This is no time for Victorian propriety!

(On another note, I just read the TVTropes entry for The Magnus Archive and Jonathan Sims was such perfect casting for Seward given the commection to The Beholding. It hungers for information and records but can’t draw conclusions from them, and that’s also Seward to a T, he keeps such detailed notes but can’t pick up on any connections even when they’re obvious.)
