RP Partners Wanted (Discord)
So, Iâve been dying to get back into RPing and been having a hard time finding roleplay buddies. So, Iâve decided to make my own ad. PLEASE only message me if you are 18+. You can message me at Mazie #7866 on Discord.Â
Fandoms/Ships (Bold are characters I want to play):Â
The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings: Legolas/Gimli Bilbo/Thorin Erestor/GlorfindelÂ
Star Trek:Â Spock/Jim
Xmen:Â Charles/Erik
AVENGERS:Â Tony Stark/Bruce Banner Tony Stark/Bucky Barns DC: Tim Drake/Conner Kent
Plot Bunnies:Â
The Nanny: I have a weakness for nanny AUs. Could work for a few ships. Charles/Erik: Erik is a single father of four - Anya, Wanda, Pietro, and Lorna after wife Magda divorces/disappears/dies. Erik needs help with the kids. Enter Charles Xavier, looking for a job since university kicked him out when they found out he was a telepath and supposedly couldnât be trusted not to cheat. Bilbo/Thorin: Thorinâs sister Dis needs help taking care of two young dwarrows after the death of her husband. With Dis going back to work now that her husband canât, and Thorin working in Bree to help put food on the table, neither can spare the time. Then Thorin meets Bilbo Baggins in Bree, a hobbit willing to babysit the boys in exchange for the occasional help around the house, and really, Mr. Oakenshield, sir, itâs no trouble, I watch the kits all the time, whatâs two more? Spock/Jim: Jim Kirk and Carol Marcus are not married. Still, they share custody of their son, David. Jim has returned to Earth from his latest mission into space, and now that Carol is going on her next mission, itâs Jimâs turn to care for David for the next five years. Jim is overwhelmed and in dire need of assistance when the agency sends him Spock, a nanny from planet Vulcan of all places. OR TâPring assisted Spock through his Pon Farr. She stays with him only as long as the resulting pregnancy lasts, choosing to leave the 1/4th human child with Spock and marries her lover Stonn instead. Spock is a Starfleet professor and in desperate need for someone to watch the baby while he is at work. Enter Jim Kirk. Tony Stark Deserves Better: Could be with a Bucky or a Bruce. Iâd also RP with a Steve, though only platonically. Basically I want to explore Tonyâs trauma more, delve into that kidnapping PTSD, child abuse, and self-hatred. I want the other Avengers to actually see past the playboy facade and realize that Tony Stark Has A Fucking Heart. Back To Erebor: Thorin Oakenshield survives the Battle of Five Armies but Bilbo doesnât know. Bibo returned to the Shire almost immediately, unable to take the grief and thinking himself still banished from Erebor. After Thorin recovers, circumstances somehow bring them back together. (I would LOVE to also have little Frodo around.) Mirror Mirror: Probably the kinkiest plotbunny on the list, Iâd like to play with Mirror Spock and Mirror Kirk. After Marlena takes up with a different captain, mirror Spock arranges to take on the role of âcaptainâs (wo)manâ himself to keep mirror Kirk from viewing him as a threat. Gimmie some oâ that frienemies-to-lovers-to-tâhyâla goodness. Post-Tarsus IV: Jim Kirk and the other Tarsus Nine are sent to Vulcan for rehabilitation under vulcan mind healers after the Tarsus Massacre instead of being sent directly to Earth. Jim, thirteen years old, is fostered by Sarek and Amanda Grayson. Slow burn. Royalty: *gestures to the whole list* Itâs a weakness of mine, take your pick. Two princes, a king and servant, I donât care, just give me some regency in there. Arranged Marriage: This one goes nicely with royalty AU. Also could be just about any pairing. A weakness of mine. A/B/O: Yes, I know Iâm a trashfire. It makes some very interesting world building, get off my back. And feel free to tell me YOUR ideas! This is hardly an exhaustive list of all my interests. :)Â

⢠harry potter being a huge worldwide pop culture phenomenon.... with the frenzy to have the books on the day that they were released etc midnight movie releases etc.
⢠also seeing the rise and fall of jk rowling
⢠the battle between being a potterhead/harry potter fan or a twihard/twilight fan.... and the battle between the two franchises in cinemas
⢠oh yeah, Donald trump just being some celebrity figurehead that said âYOUâRE FIRED!â a lot bc of âthe apprenticeâ. TAKE EVERYONE BACK.
⢠also the rise of Gordon Ramsayâs image of being a super sweary & aggressive chef... when in real life, or on other shows, heâs actually a nice dude.
⢠the second stage of mobiles going from flip phones to iPhones and being a literal computer in your pocket
⢠also having a separate iPod & phone in your pocket... to just having it all on your phone.
⢠the lame debate of âis print dead?â with people buying and using kindles more than print books (or whatever it is)
⢠the 10 billionth instalment of the pirates of the caribbean
⢠tim burton casting helena bonham carter and johnny depp as the lead characters (and lead love interests) IN NEARLY EVERY FUCKING MOVIE he made
⢠the rise of kpop and the eventual fall out of emo bands
⢠speaking of mid2000s emo bands: the end of fall out boyâs hiatus (from 2009) and the break up of my chemical romance happening in the same year (2013).
⢠emo kids almost crying when they heard that infamous g note or heard the line âwhen i was a young boyâ. living in the âmisery businessâ and wanting to live at ânine in the afternoonâ etc. the âemo holy trinityâ of bands being a thing (fob, mcr & p!atd). also p!atd having 10,000 different ways to write their band name. also finally on the emo point, PON & ZI.
⢠for scene kids or for those that donât know: jeffree starâs weird ~MySpace~ music career and also some other bops by him exist.
⢠the godawful rise of the kardashian/jenner empire....
⢠the rise of influencers and the social media apps that made those stupid, rich fucks famous (snapchat, instagram, twitter, facebook etc)
⢠the modern day rise, fall from relevance and death of hugh hefener and the gross/weird show that showcased the life at the playboy mansion for the playboy bunny women (the girls next door/girls of the playboy mansion)... and the spin off shows that came from it (Kendra/kendra on top & Hollyâs World etc)... and also the weird exploitative interest with the American restaurant Hooters that GOTPM instilled bc all of the playboy women (or maybe just holly madison, bc i canât really remember) worked there at some stage.
⢠and on shows like keeping up with the kardashians etc, the filming of the showâs stars getting plastic surgery during an episode sometimes.
⢠the evermore persistent existence of diet culture bc of kuwtk and other reality shows.... or reports of people like Oprah and Kirstie alley etc being âserial dietersâ on literally NEARLY EVERY FUCKING CELEB MAG while growing up
â˘the rise and sad, horrible fall of Lindsay Lohan.
⢠ok sure Supernatural being on air for like 15 years.
⢠the ridiculous ending of how i met your mother, which was basically the 90s/2000s kids version Friends. and basically, yeah, himym in general since it went for basically 10 years from 2005-2014.
⢠âyoutuberâ becoming an actual sorta viable job title
⢠the golden era of both Disney AND Nickelodeon shows
⢠the discovery channel and other channels that were supposed to be factual documentary channels churning out more and more shows like âduck dynastyâ, âpawn starsâ and ârepo menâ which were really awfully & very obviously scripted reality shows that these channels wanted to disguise as âfactual documentariesâ. effectively making these channels almost as bad as mtv, but in reverse.
⢠mtv being less about music videos and more about bad reality tv shows like teen mom or the life of Ryan or Next or whatever other shows were on there.
⢠the creation of the âbridezillaâ stereotype from shows like âbridezillasâ/âsay yes to the dressâ etc.... and also the 15 million different seasons of âhousewives of.....â, which helped kinda further popularise the gold digger stereotype for women.....especially if one of the women in a particular season was from a ~less wealthy~ background.
⢠SO MANY MODELLING REALITY/COMP SHOWS mostly courtesy of Tyra Banksâs â.....Next top modelâ franchise; and that franchise having 1000 different spinoffs/seasons in the US.... and then heading to other countries (the most successful one being australia) and these shows probably contributing to self-esteem issues amongst teen girls.
⢠the complete difference between young female Hollywood stars (teen stars) actually being allowed to dress like teenagers should be allowed to dress at premieres/award shows & red carpets, to young Hollywood female teen stars being forced by their stylists to dress like young women in their early 20s for these events.
⢠the almost hypefixation on makeup, to the point where children are running makeup channels on YouTube
⢠asmr being a thing
⢠also considering a youtube career for your kid (if you have a kid).... bc those youtube channel kids earn so much just from playing with toys.
⢠the rise and the very much needed fall from relevance of ... and general public disgust for Chris Brown after his abuse of Rihanna in 2009.
⢠Rihanna rising out of that to become a makeup and lingerie business mogul (love her)
⢠âshufflingâ and LMFAO being things. also finding out that LMFAO were actually an uncle and a nephew act.... with redfoo being the uncle and skyblu being the nephew.
⢠Kylie Minogue suing Kylie Jenner over trying to trademark the name Kylie đ
⢠the realisation that Kesha/ke$ha wasnât actually a super party queen like her songs depicted..... but instead she was (and still is) a hella smart and cool advocate for social issues. finding out that she also had like a 1500 SAT score and took college classes in high school.
and so, so much more.
so the 90s kids
have gone thru the jonas brothers' making, break up, and comeback
saw one direction rise and break up
saw justin bieber rise and fall
are the only ones who happened to watch Good disney shows
have experienced the once-in-a-lifetime experience of the mcu's infinity saga
have seen the climate fall onto its face
went from no computers to computers everywhere in like 2 seconds
#life#about me#ilona makes a big rant/story/diatribe etc on a big post#ilona adds stuff to a big post

Mike Milbury, NBC and NHL protests (Puck Daddy Countdown)
NHL
(In which Ryan Lambert takes a look at some of the biggest issues and stories in the NHL, and counts them down.)
7 â Replacing Edzo
If you thought you heard a big groan at around 4 p.m. Eastern time yesterday, your ears did not deceive you: NBC announced yesterday that it will replace Eddie Olczyk (whoâs battling cancer) in the NBC Sports booth with
âŚâŚâŚâŚ
âŚâŚâŚâŚ Mike Milbury.
Look, this wasnât my decision but I feel like I have to apologize for it anyway: Iâm sorry I had to give you this news.
We talk a lot about how the NHL is tone deaf and NBC Sportsâ presentation is openly antagonistic to the people who watch this sport at least once or twice a week, but this is a bridge too far even for them. I canât believe this dumb decision was made, except to say that itâs the NHL and NBC, so of course it was. Truly amazing and regrettable.
If you have some extra cash lying around, you might want to invest in mute button futures.
6 â Weâre still talking about it
Ah, well, nowâs the time for every rich white guy in the NHL, which of course leans super-conservative, to give their takes on the Trump thing so they can, a) miss the point of the kneeling protests in the first place, and b) be extremely rich white guys about it.
Thatâs all to be expected. I honestly donât know what other answers anyone might have expected from the NHL rank and file on this, especially given that a lot of these guys barely have high school educations and lots of them have suffered traumatic brain injuries. Seeking nuanced opinions on even an uncomplicated political topic like, âIs state violence against racial minorities worth discussing?â is really asking for the moon.
And I get that Gary Bettman quote from last spring about, âWe donât want the NHL involved in politics,â which is awful funny coming from the league that really embraced You Can Play, as though gay rights are somehow not an inherently political issue even in 2017.
Hereâs what I think people miss in all this: Sports isnât and canât be divorced from politics, because nothing is divorced from politics. Every aspect of life is touched by politics in some way. If people want to pretend otherwise, I get it. Politics is an exhausting thing to think about 24/7, but every veteran who gets a standing ovation at a game, every national anthem, every TV ad for the armed forces, and even the goddamn Winnipeg Jets logo is in some way a political issue. We are sold nationalism on just about every front in this sport, and have been forever. The Miracle on Ice wasnât a big deal only because a scrappy team beat a juggernaut, but it was U.S.A. over USSR, capitalism over communism, and a real-life manifestation of the festering Cold War resentments that, hell, weâre still dealing with.
The vast majority of hockey players are from well-to-do white families because itâs one of the most expensive sports to play and the barrier to entry for lower-income families (which hey, what a coincidence, also happen to be disproportionately made up of people of color), and a majority of them arenât even American. Thatâs not to say there arenât racial issues in Canada, Sweden, Russia, etc. to address, but theyâre far less overt there than they are here, and Justin Trudeau hasnât called Wayne Simmonds a son of a bitch on national TV. But to expect these guys to understand where Josh Ho-Sang â who had a great quote about the issue yesterday â is coming from? Thatâs silly.
They should, however, make the effort. Which is what the kneeling protest is all about.
And as for the whole âPenguins in the White Houseâ thing, yeah, itâs stupid. Whether they support him or not â and they almost certainly do â theyâll be used as props for a doddering Fox News grampa to say, âArenât they amazing folks? And they respect me, so much. Great team. Unbelievable.â That would have been the case regardless of what the Warriors chose to do.
But now, itâs even more of a hot-button issue, and for all the stuff you can say about Trump, you gotta acknowledge his media savvy. Itâs not like Crosbyâs gonna put on a MAGA hat and go on a rant about how Mexicans are all criminals-in-waiting, but heâs gonna be there yukkinâ it up with the guy who did. âHa ha ha,â Sid Crosby will say after Trump tries to impress him with a story about a Playboy bunny he annoyed in 1992. âThatâs funny, Mr. President.â
Crosby et al have the benefit of keeping politics divorced from their lives. Itâs this Tina Fey crap all over again: âWhy canât we all eat cake? Why canât we all just not talk about the issue and respect the office?â Because some people have more pressing material threats to their lives than this, and the Trump administration is all those threats made manifest.
Now, people have brought up the Tim Thomas thing a lot. He didnât go to the White House to protest Obamaâs policy of, I donât know, not abolishing the Federal Reserve or something. Hereâs why this is different: Obama didnât call him a son of a bitch on national TV. Thatâs it. Thatâs the only reason. If guys want to stay home for any reason they choose, thatâs fine. And if you want to talk about it in the media, thatâs fine too. Thomas made himself the subject of mockery for a lot of people, myself included, because he did not articulate what his problem with Obama was. He just said he didnât like Obama. If he had actually said, âHereâs X, Y, and Z of why Iâm not going,â we probably would have still disagreed â libertarians are kooks, to a man â but youâd have to give him the courage of his convictions. On some level, itâs laudatory that he stood up for what he believed in, even if what he believed in was probably dumb.
Meanwhile, unlike Tim Thomas, Colin Kaepernick and many of those players who started kneeling very clearly articulated why they started doing it. The NFL has since transformed the issue, co-opting it from what it was originally meant to be about. In a league with many black athletes, the issue is clear to them. In a league with a lot of white ones, you get dumbasses like David Backes thinking itâs about The Flag or The Troops or The Anthem because theyâve never had to worry about a friend getting shot by a cop during a routine traffic stop.
Whether you respect Trump or think heâs racist, if you donât see what the real issue with buddying up to him is, youâre trying really hard to avoid doing so. And while youâd expect that level of effort from rich white guys anyway â how many now play-act being appalled when Trump does something gross and bad for the 14th time in a week? â itâs nonetheless a thumb in the eye to every other athlete who actually has the courage of their convictions and doesnât just go with the flow because itâs the easy thing to do.
For a sport in which everyone from top to bottom tries so hard to be uncontroversial at all times, youâd think these dumbasses would get why even associating with Trump at a time like this is insanely controversial. Nothing is normal anymore, though, and hockeyâs willingness to associate with anyone who has Trumpâs track record (that is, to openly court controversy) nicely highlights that issue.
5 â Not being on TV
LOVE the idea that NBC wonât show the NHL on any of its properties during the Olympics is some kind of F-U to Gary Bettman and the league. Makes a lot of sense. For sure.
Any Olympic event, like two-man blindfolded curling, is going to pull a better audience share than a Sabres/Wild game on Rivalry Night. That seems to be the bigger issue, to me.
4 â Blackouts
Speaking of not being on TV, one of the weirdest sagas of the NHL preseason is the fact that the NHL has repeatedly blacked out Vegas Golden Knights gamesâŚ. in Las Vegas.
Again, weâre dealing with some real brain geniuses but this seems like something where youâd say, âUhh, actually, donât?â and someone would go, âHmm, yes, that makes sense.â
3 â The Top 50
I feel so bad for Taylor Hall at this point. Did he run over a Norse godâs dog or something?
2 â Unsigned RFAs
Aaron Portzline at the Athletic says the Columbus Blue Jackets are only about $150,000 apart on a three-year deal for Josh Anderson, and that Anderson wants a $2 million AAV. And the team wonât budge.
And wouldnât you know it, the Red Wings are still doing the same thing with Andreas Athanasiou. Heâs sitting on a one-year KHL offer at $2.5 million or so, and the Wings came in at half that for one year or $1.9 million for two. No word, really, on what Athanasiou himself is seeking from the Wings, but that $2.5 million AAV sounds about right.
These are the last two RFAs that still donât have contracts and weâre two weeks into training camps. At least with the Wings itâs something of a cap issue, but for Columbus, itâs not. Thatâs a club with almost $8 million in cap space. Itâs nickel-and-dime BS.
Iâve said it before, but you canât give some of the guys on those two roster the contracts theyâve gotten, then cry poor. Anderson is a promising 23-year-old who had 17 even-strength goals in a limited role last year. Athanasiou, as Iâve discussed at length, seems like he has some runway to improve as well. But these teams would rather jerk around two future âcoreâ guys, such as they are, over less than a million dollars, combined.
Fun league.
1 â Sean Avery
It really takes some doing for me to kind of roll my eyes at any story that paints John Tortorella as a clown and a bad guy, but give it up to Sean Avery for achieving that goal.
This is a lot like the Dril tweet about taking off a Guy Fawkes mask and having the Joker makeup on under it. All set with this dude.
(Not ranked this week: Not signing Jagr.
Guaranteed heâs going to the KHL at least through the Olympics, if not for the whole season. What a waste.)
