Curiosity can be either a really good, or a really bad thing. It can end in fortune, or it can end in disaster. Many people avoid acting on their curiosity due to the fear of it turning out bad. But you decided to take the risk.
You used to work for the company Nightmare. Because of that, you did a lot of things you’re not proud of. For one, you fought a group of teenage magical girls to try and obtain the Dream Collet. Just the memory of trying to defeat them makes you cringe. But you’re glad you still keep in touch with them. After all, they’re the reason you were able to turn a new leaf.
But even though you’ve left the evil company, you still harbor some magic abilities. And with them, you decided to run a little experiment.
A while ago, the Pretty Cure went to the Mirror Kingdom and had to fight dark versions of themselves. Each one was made from a crystal. Cure Dream had managed to befriend her evil counterpart, Dark Dream. But Dark Dream ended up sacrificing herself for her, shattering the crystal.
You’ve always wondered what would happen if Dark Dream was able to live her second chance. So after a quick trip to the Mirror Kingdom, you came back home with a handful of crystal shards, and a crazy idea.
~~~~
You never would’ve guessed it would have taken this long. Nearly three whole months and 107 attempts later, a very puzzled Cure Dream doppelgänger stood in the exact same spot the shards used to be. You huffed tiredly, convinced that you’d used every ounce of magic left in you. But you still smiled at the fruit of your labor.
“What’s going on? Who are you?” Dark Dream asked, understandably confused. “How am I alive?” She stared down at her hands, moving them to confirm that she was in fact living.
“I’ll gladly answer all of those questions right now.” You chuckled.
You provided a quick, yet informative summary of your experiment. Dark Dream listened intently, her wide eyed expression never faltering. She was still processing being alive once again, and now she had even more to take in. But she knew she couldn’t bear being left without any answers, so she just dealt with the shock.
“And here you are now.” You finished with your explanation. You folded your arms, and exhaled loudly, truly in disbelief about your success.
You allowed the girl a few moments to think and process everything. It was only fair, after all. You prepared yourself for any future questions she may ask, but what she did end up asking was not something you were expecting.
“Where’s Nozomi?”
After taking a moment to get over the unexpected question, you gave your answer. “Well, it’s the afternoon of a weekday. So she’s probably at school. In fact, she should be getting out soon.”
“I want to go see her.” She declared. And by the sound of it, she definitely wasn’t asking. So you figured that if she was gonna go, you’d rather her not go alone.
“Alright. I don’t know where she goes to school, but I do know where she goes after. I’ll take you there. Oh yeah, but you should de-transform first.” You pointed to her outfit. She looked at herself as if she didn’t notice. But she quickly did as you said, reverting back to her normal self. She still looked exactly like Nozomi. But the way she dressed was quite different. She wore a reddish, gothic lolita style outfit, complete with black lipstick.
Not wanting to waste any time, you simply ignored her appearance, and led her out of the house. And with Dark Dream trailing closely behind, you headed straight to Natts’ House.
~~~~
After explaining everything to Natts, he very reluctantly allowed Dark Dream to hang around. Though, he still watched her like a hawk. But knowing his trust issues, that was understandable. You luckily didn’t have to deal with Coco or Milk as well, as they had gone to Palmier Kingdom for business. So the only thing you now needed to do was wait for the Pretty Cure.
After a very awkward ten or so minutes, the door opened with the jingle of a bell. “Natts!” A cheerful voice called out.
“Up here.” He responded from the upstairs lounge.
You heard loud footsteps run up the stairs, then Nozomi finally saw who was there waiting for her. She froze, dropping her school bag, as well as her jaw.
“Whaaaaat?!” She exclaimed very loudly, practically shaking the building.
After locking eyes with her, Dark Dream smiled softly, and stood up. “Hello, Nozomi.”
At that time, the other girls had made it upstairs to see what all the fuss was about. They were just as bewildered to see who was there as their friend was.
Nozomi ran to her, grabbing her hands in hers. “It really is you! But how?”
“I revived her. It took a ton of trial and error, and even more power, but I did it.” You proudly explained.
“But why?” Rin questioned.
You simply shrugged. “I was just curious.” This made her give you a judgey look.
“I can’t believe it! This is so cool!” Nozomi said, bouncing up and down a bit from excitement. “I promised you a second chance, and now you finally have it!” She pulled Dark Dream in for a hug. “We can finally be friends too!”
While Dark Dream was initially taken aback from the embrace, she smiled from Nozomi’s words.
“But what do we even call her? Dark Dream isn’t a normal name.” Rin mentioned.
“Oh, yeah.” Nozomi said.
Everyone thought for a moment. Then Urara came up with something. “Oh! What about ‘Nonomi’? It sounds like ‘Nozomi’!”
Natts scoffed. “Well that’s just-“
“I have no issue with that name.” Dark Dream interrupted before he could voice his opinion.
“Okay! ‘Nonomi’ it is!” Nozomi said happily. “It’s decided!” And to go with her catchphrase, she thrusted her whole arm upwards, pointing into the air.
“This is all cute and everything, but where is she gonna stay?” Rin asked, acting as if she was the only one with common sense.
“She can stay with me. I have the room. I mean, if it’s alright with her.” You said.
“Okay. I have no problem with that.” The newly named Nonomi responded.
“And you can go to school with us!” Nozomi said, clearly ecstatic.
“What’s ’school’?”
“Oh boy…” Rin sighed.
Karen placed a hand on her shoulder. “It’ll be fine. There are plenty of us to teach her everything she needs to know.”
“Oh! And I have plenty of books I can lend her!” Komachi added.
Natts sighed. “This is all just too much. I think I might close the shop for the day.”
He wasn’t wrong. So much had happened in such a short amount of time. Especially for Nonomi. She’d been revived by you, reunited with Nozomi and gained a new home and life all in one day. But she was completely ready for it. Nozomi had offered her friendship and a second chance, but her death prevented her from living it. But all thanks to you, she’s now able to. And she couldn’t be more happy.

A/N ~ This fic became longer than expected, so there’s gonna be a part 2.
~~~🌹~~~🌹~~~🌹~~~
It was your weekly hangout with your friends, something you looked forward to every week. Every Friday night, you’d meet with them at Cafe and Bar Time, and have a few drinks. Well, a few drinks usually turns into half of you being completely drunk.
But this time, you were determined to keep one of them sober. To be specific, your best friend, Kurumi Mimino. She’s the prime minister of some faraway kingdom, apparently, though you don’t know much about it. What you do know, is that you’ve had a crush on her for a while. She’s so confident and straightforward, and she doesn’t have any trouble saying what’s on her mind. You wanted to keep her and yourself sober, because you planned on confessing to her that night.
~~~~
The cafe was filled with the sound of laughter and the smell of alcohol. As expected, Rin was already drunk as a skunk, and Nozomi had to practically hold her to keep her from falling face first on the table. Kurumi had already had a few drinks, and was getting a bit tipsy. You decided that it was a good place to stop her from drinking any more.
“Hey, Kenta!” Kurumi shouted over to the man behind the counter. “Refill please!”
“Ah, hey, I don’t think you should drink anymore.” You nervously stopped her.
“Eh, why not?” She asked, a bit annoyed.
“Um..” You tried to quickly come up with an excuse. “You still have work tomorrow, don’t you? You don’t wanna have to deal with a really bad hangover.”
Kurumi sighed, and folded her arms. “Guess you’re right…”
You let out a sigh of relief, and turned your attention to Rin, who was crying over nothing.
~~~~
The hangout was over, and you and your friends all said your goodbyes. Karen headed back to the hospital for work, and everyone else began going home. Nozomi was taking Rin home first, as she was on the brink of passing out from being so drunk.
Before Kurumi could part ways with you though, you called out to her. “Wait!”
“What? What is it?” Kurumi asked, turning around to face you.
You took a deep breath. “Can you come with me for a minute? I want to talk to you.”
“Oh. Okay.” She said, and walked over to you. She playfully linked arms with you, making you laugh.
You led her to a bridge overlooking a road. There weren’t too many cars out, as it was pretty late.
“So what is it? Don’t keep me waiting!” Kurumi said.
You sighed, preparing yourself. “I like you. I have for a while. I understand if you don’t feel the same, but I just needed to get this off my chest.” You looked at her, awaiting her response.
After a moment, Kurumi laughed a little. “Yeah, I know.”
“What? Really?” You asked, surprised.
“Yeah. The whole group knows, actually. I mean, it was kind of obvious.”
“Oh.” You turned away, embarrassed. It was really that easy to tell?
Kurumi smirked, and placed your hand on yours. “Aww, don’t be so flustered. It’s cute that you’re that into me.” She teased. “And just so you know, I feel the same.”
You quickly turned your head to look at her. She was looking at you with full confidence, but a slight blush was on her cheeks. Or was that just from the alcohol? You couldn’t tell.
You smiled at her. But after a moment, Kurumi’s faded, and she turned away.
“What’s wrong?” You asked her.
“There’s something I’ve been needing to tell you too. I should’ve told you this a long time ago.” She said.
“Oh. What is it?” You asked.
Kurumi sighed, and looked up to the night sky. Thousands of stars were visible, and the clock tower was also in sight. It was the perfect view.
“So you know the whole Pretty Cure thing?” She asked.
“Yes, of course. How could I forget? The town was almost destroyed.” You laughed. She did a little as well.
To be fair, you didn’t know a whole bunch about the event. You just knew that these young girl superheros saved the town from shadow monsters.
“Well… I was one of them. In fact, all of our friends were too.”
You were silent in shock. That was the last thing you expected her to say. Also, the fact that you’ve been friends with superheros and had no idea was something you needed time to think about. But you didn’t exactly have that time. You needed answers.
“What? How? Everyone? But those girls were so young! And how did you even-?” Kurumi stopped your rambling with a hand to your shoulder.
“I’ll explain everything to you.”
And she did. You learned of the first time they transformed when they were all in middle school. You learned of Bell and the shadow monsters. You learned about the Palmier Kingdom, where Kurumi’s from. And the Time Flowers, and how they gave her and the others the ability to transform back into Pretty Cure.
But the end of it, you had no words. It was just so much.
“You gonna say anything? Or are you just going to stand there?” Kurumi asked, a bit annoyed at your lack of response.
“Yeah I just… wow. I’ve been friends with the Pretty Cure the whole time and had no idea. Not to mention, you’re from a kingdom that’s not even on Earth.” You said, still blown away.
Kurumi laughed. “Yeah. But there’s still one more thing.”
You turned to her. “What? There’s more?” You were a bit scared. What now?
She led you into an alleyway. After checking to see if the coast was clear, a puff of smoke enveloped her. When it cleared, she was no longer there. Until you looked down. Where Kurumi was standing, was a small, pink bunny-like creature.
“What?”
The sun beamed down on the town, and the heat was beginning to set in with the shift from morning to afternoon. It was unusually hot for an autumn day. Nevertheless, Komachi Akimoto didn’t falter in her work. She labored on, trimming leaves and picking up trash. She vowed to always keep the community garden in top shape. So when her hands became sweaty underneath her gloves, and her body became hot, she payed no mind.
“Hey Komachi!” A familiar voice called out to her. She instantly whipped her head around in its direction, her long ponytail following suit. Much to her delight, you were coming her way.
“Hello, (name).” She smiled gently. She wiped the dirt from her gloves onto her apron.
“The garden’s looking good as always!” You complimented, scanning the area.
Komachi blushed. “Thank you. I just do whatever I can for the community.”
Fiddling with your thumbs, you nervously tried to find words, and avoided her gaze. “Is something the matter, (name)?” Komachi asked.
“No, nothing’s wrong! I just wanted to ask you something.” You admitted.
“Oh, okay. We’ll go ahead.” Komachi smiled sweetly, making your heart melt.
“I was wondering if you’d like to go out sometime?”
Komachi froze, her heart skipping a beat. “Out? Like on a date?” She wanted to confirm before getting too excited.
“Yes. If you want.” You said, scratching the back of your neck bashfully.
A wave of happiness and nervousness rushed over Komachi. Her face felt unusually hot from being flustered. Or was it just the heat?
She wanted nothing more in the world than to say yes, and go on a date. She’s been in love with you for ages. However, she hasn’t told you because she didn’t feel deserving of your love. People who love each other shouldn’t keep secrets. And unfortunately, Komachi has a big one.
She’s a Pretty Cure. She wants desperately to tell you, but there are three issues. One, she wouldn’t even know where to begin explaining. Two, it’s supposed to be a secret. And three, she wants to keep you safe.
But despite all that, she just couldn’t bring herself to say no to you. So, she decided to face the consequences at a later date.
“I would be delighted (name).” She said. You smiled wide, happy that she accepted. “But…”
“But?” Your smile faded a bit, confused.
“There’s something I need to tell you first.” Her face got serious.
“Oh! Alright! What is it?”
Komachi looked both left and right, then behind her. “Not here.” She then lightly grasped your hand, and led you away.
~~~~
As you entered Komachi’s home, a pleasant, homey vibe and aroma flooded your senses. You both took off your shoes, leaving them by the door, before continuing on.
Komachi led you to a room with large, sliding doors and a small coffee table with cushions. She motioned for you to sit down, so you got on one of the cushions. “Would you like some tea?” She asked with a smile.
“I would love some! If you wouldn’t mind, of course.” You said.
Komachi hummed. “I won’t be long.” She then left the room, leaving you alone.
Now that all the rushing was over, you finally got the chance to be nervous. Komachi didn’t seem like the kind of person to hide big secrets. So what could it possibly be? You sat there contemplating while kitchen sounds were made in the background.
Minutes went by, and any possible answers still hadn’t come to you. But you were out of thinking time, as Komachi came into the room with tea. She sets a cup down in front of you, and one where she would sit. To your surprise, she also set down a plate of daifuku.
“Thanks Komachi! This looks really good!” You were quick to say. Komachi smiled, and got on her knees to sit on the cushion across from you. She picked up her cup, and took a gentle inhale of its scent before taking a small sip.
You copied her actions; holding the cup in your hands and taking in its scent. It was a pleasant aroma. And although it may be strange to associate a smell with a person, it truly reminded you of her. Komachi watched as you took a sip of your tea, hoping it was to your liking. She was always seeking approval.
“That’s really good, Komachi!” You said, after lowering your cup.
“Wonderful, I’m glad!” She smiled. Then her face got serious. “So, about what I needed to tell you.”
You subconsciously leaned in, curiosity taking over. “Yes?” You asked, placing your cup down, and taking a daifuku off its plate.
“Before I tell you, you need to promise be you’ll keep this a secret.”
You stopped mid-bite. “Of course! I care about you Komachi, so I’ll never tell anyone. I promise.”
Komachi blushed, and cleared her throat before continuing. “So…” You leaned in closer, taking a bite of your daifuku. “have you ever heard about the Pretty Cure?”
You let out a “Mhm!” Before chewing and swallowing. “Yes, I have. They’re those young girls that have been getting rid of those shadow monsters, right?”
“Yes, those are the ones.” She sighed, and continued. “Well, I’m one of them. Cure Mint.” She said with full seriousness.
If it was anyone else who had said that, you’d be sure they were joking. But this is Komachi. She wasn’t one to lie or joke around about something like this. And her expression further proved the fact that she was telling the truth.
“Really? Those girls look like they’re teenagers! How do you become younger?”
Komachi took another sip of her tea, and told you the whole story. She told you how she was a Pretty Cure when she was younger, and saved the Palmier Kingdom. And she told you that now, with the help of the sinister Time Flowers, she’s able to transform again to save the town from destruction. You listened intently the entire time. Each new detail was more strange than the last, but you couldn’t help but believe it. By the time the story was over, your tea was gone, as well as the daifuku.
“Wow… just… oh my gosh.” You said, still taking in all the information.
“I know it’s hard to believe, but if you just-“ Komachi started, but you quickly interrupted.
“No, no! I believe you! You wouldn’t make all this up.” After this was said, Komachi’s face expressed gratitude and relief.
“Thank you. I’m glad you understand.”
“But there’s one more thing I want to know.” You said.
“Oh? What is it?” She asked.
“These ‘Time Flowers’. You called them ‘sinister’. What does that mean?”
Komachi paused, and stared down into her empty cup. “We don’t exactly know. We couldn’t find any more information about them.”
A few moments of silence passed, before you asked another question. “….Is something gonna happen to you?”
“I don’t know. I really hope not. But for the sake of the town, I’ll continue to fight.” She said.
You smiled, and reached across the table, gently taking her hand. Komachi’s eyes met yours. “And I’ll be cheering for you.” You said. Her cheeks flushed, and she smiled back. “Now, about that date. While this was wonderful, it wasn’t exactly what I had in mind.”
Komachi lightly panicked. “Oh no! This wasn’t a-“
You laughed, before cutting her off. “Relax, I’m just kidding!” Komachi sighed, and chuckled. “But anyway, are you free on Friday? We could go somewhere.”
Komachi gave your hand a squeeze. “Yes, I’m free. And I would love to.” Komachi responded, trying her hardest to hold in her excitement. She was happy that after years of waiting and fantasizing, her dreams of romance have finally become a reality. And not only that, it was with her favorite person, you.

She led you into an alleyway. After checking to see if the coast was clear, a puff of smoke enveloped her. When it cleared, she was no longer there. Until you looked down. Where Kurumi was standing, was a small, pink bunny-like creature.
“What?”
~~~~
“Kurumi?” You called out to the creature.
“Whew! Being in that human form is exhausting~miru!” It sighed, and stretched.
You jumped, and grabbed onto the brick wall beside you for support. The bunny noticed, and looked at you.
“Relax, (name). It’s me~miru!” It said in an annoyed tone.
You paused for a moment. “Kurumi? But… what are you?”
She flipped one of her floppy ears before responding. “I’m a fairy~miru! This is my true form. And by the way, my name is actually Milk~miru!”
“What? So you’re not really a human?” You asked, shocked.
“Nope! Remember how I’m from the Palmier Kingdom~miru? Well, everyone there is a fairy, including me! I only take human form when I’m out in town~miru.”
You were flabbergasted. This whole time, your crush wasn’t even a human. But even so, your feelings were still there. You knelt down to Kurumi’s- eh, Milk’s level. “Well, thanks for telling me. I get why it took so long. Uh… I don’t really know what else to say for this situation.” You laughed nervously.
Milk smiled, and another puff of smoke emitted from her. When it cleared, you were met with shoes. You looked up, and saw Kurumi looking down at you. Oh, she changed back.
She held out her hand. With a smile, you took it, and Kurumi helped you up.
“So, what do you think?” She asked. “Will this soil our relationship?”
“Well, it’s pretty shocking…” You said. “but no. I still like you.”
Kurumi hummed. She then leaned forward, and gave you a peck on the lips. “Good. Now if you don’t mind, I really must be going. It’s not an easy job, being a prime minister.” She waved goodbye, and ran out of the alley.
You followed her, wanting to say goodbye. But when you exited the alley, she was gone. You weren’t upset though, because you just gained a girlfriend.
