Goro watched on as he saw Vaughn inching closer and closer to the fire, any closer and he'd be sitting directly in it. It was cold in the badlands, all the Aldecaldos were bundled in their winter best. Vaughn absolutely hated it, realizing the colder it got, the worse he felt.

He held his hands up near the flames to try to warm them. His hands always froze up the most, and his nose was practically numb, and before he could stick his nose in the flames, Goro sped walked over and plopped down next to him, and mug in his hand that was pipping hot and steaming.

"You could probably use this." He held the cup out for Vaughn to take, but Vaughn kept his focus on the fire. "V?"

"Huh? Sorry.. I guess the cold wind is really getting to me.. thank you." He gently grabbed the mug from Goro's gloved hands and held it close to his chest, letting the steam hit his nose.

Goro watched him with interest, his lips were shivering, his eyes were clenched shut, but the moment the steam hit his face, he became more at ease. Goro always knew Vaughn was dramatic, it couldn't have been less than 55 degrees, maybe even 60, but Goro also knew it was a good opportunity to scoot closer to his lover, putting an arm around his backside and hoping his shivering would let up some.

"It is meant to drink you know." Goro spoke up.

"Do you even know what it is?" Vaughn side eyed Goro, responding in almost a chuckle. Vaughn got his answer when Goro didn't say anything. It was always funny to see how clueless Goro was when it came to anything food or drink related from the city. "It's hot chocolate."

"It looks like liquid dirt.. what are those white things?" Goro pointed his finger at the little white floaties sticking to the side of the mug, Vaughn couldn't help but bust out laughing.

"You've never seen marshmallows before? I thought you were a nomad."

"Those are marshmallows? Please, say no more, V." Goro waved his hand away and looked around camp, so many people had mugs in their hands, every sip of their drink they took made it look like they were in heaven.

"Here, try some. I find it hard to believe you've never had this. Not even in Japan?" Vaughn started lifting the mug up to Goro's mouth, his fingers sliding through the handle effortlessly, while his other hand lay smoothly on Goro's thigh.

Goro's head leaned back, he looked at Vaughn with squinted eyes. "No.. never. It was not something I sought out."

"You can't run from your problems anymore, just take a sip." Vaughn put the mug directly to Goro's lips.

"I can get up and walk away, you know?" Slowly, Goro moved his face closer to the mug, sighing and rolling his eyes before partially opening his mouth.

"I'd never let you, see where my hand is?" The grip on Goro's thigh got tighter, a tiny grunt escaping his mouth before he finally opened his mouth more and took a small sip.

The remnants of the liquid were traced along Goro's mustache, an adorable moment Vaughn wished he could have captured through photography.

"Well?" Vaughn asked, waiting for Goro's lecture about how awful it was.

"It is.... not terrible. I suppose I can see why people drink it when it is cold outside."

"Not the answer I was expecting, but I'll take it. C'mere you got some on your face." Vaughn took his thumb and wiped the chocolate drink off of him, before caressing his cheek with his other thumb. He leaned in and kissed Goro lazily before burying his head in the nape of his neck, letting the warmth of his lover take away any remaining shivers he had.

"You want more?" Vaughn asked, eyes unintentionally shutting, the relaxation setting in.

"No.."

"You hate it don't you?"

"Yes, V."

Both burst out laughing, Vaughn set the mug on the side of him, instead focusing on Goro's warmth and the fire in front of them.

1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care about anymore? Probably Ste/Jamie from the movie Beautiful Thing (1996). I joined a very active mailing list at the time, so many beautiful fics were shared between everyone. Now there's less than 20 fics on ao3 for it, when it was such a rich, vibrant, loving community.

2. Which ship would you consider your first one? Probably Peter Pan/Wendy from when I was a little kid, lololol

3. Your first fanfic was about which couple? Probably Peter Pan/Wendy but they were in the form of comics, entire new adventures for the whole crew with drawings on every page. When you're a kid and don't even know about fanfic/fandom works but creativity is still second nature.

4. Do you remember the first couple you saw fanart of? Gosh, I don't remember anymore.

5. Have you ever gotten into ship discourse? Nope.

6. Did you use to have any NOTP or have one currently? Yep. Got my blocked terms set up everywhere cuz I just don't want to see it.

8. Currently, do you have any OTPs? Yes! songxiao, but also xiyao as well. The former I write all the time, the latter I made a few fanvids for, but oddly don't read much fic for. I adore a lot of xiyao fanart, but I take songxiao anyway I can get it ♥

9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together? Will/Lyra getting together was a major plot point in His Dark Materials but I'm still salty about them not getting to stay together. However, their not staying together is the heartbreak that keeps them together in my heart :P

11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, would've been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over? Hmm, I can't think of any. I've been in fandom a long time but I would either like a canon pairing or the work itself, but I honestly don't actively ship much.

12. What is your favorite crack ship? ??? I mean I ship two swords, Fuxue/Shuanghua, but I don't consider it crack :P

13. What is the couple you read the most fanfics about? BBC Johnlock most likely, for the several years I was inhaling fics about them.

14. What do most of your ships usually have in common? Competence and each having respective strengths that complement one another. EDITED to add: Them not being together in canon really kicks it up a notch--Wendy growing up and moving on? Will & Lyra separated in different dimensions!? Sherlock faking his own death?! Song Lan becoming a fierce corpse and XXC's shattered soul? OMG. That's when I get O B S E S S E S S E D !!!

15. What you absolutely hate in a ship? This is hard for me to answer--I was about to write down something from my NOTP but it was also present in an OTP, so really I can forgive a lot if the chemistry is there. It just comes down to vibes, I either feel it or I don't.

i write a lot of original characters , so any of the ships i have with my writing partners ( katarina/mirage w/spookyhubby , aiko/eiji w/solivcgant , jay/django w/puckish-rogue , aiko/el w/cupid ) . i have a lot of original characters that i don't write anymore , but i love their old ships too , but the main reason i don't write them is because people wouldn't be interested in them :( as ppl r barely interested in my ocs rn a;lskjdfa;lskjdf

but in terms of canon characters i don't have any really big ships that are canon , i have preferred ships that i have for them even though i don't write them necessarily , but the others would be ( sage/yoru w/galaxythixf , sage/reyna , sage/viper , neon/fade , soraka/voli w/valhiir , soraka/therapy , soraka/sett , soraka/pantheon , lux/jinx , lux/caitlyn w/ferinehuntress , soraka/vayne , uhh ... i just be rattling this shit off give me a moment ... viktor/jayce , mc/eiji w/solivcgant , mc/seven , ethan/therapy , chara/therapy ... sage/jett ) although the list isn't extensive , and doesn't cover everything : i think chemistry is the most important in a ship and if two characters have it then i'm always gonna consider them an otp LMAO !

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?

it very much depends on where those muses are in life ; generally for younger muses i don't really believe or like age gaps more than 2 - 3 years , esp with muses that are ... at the very least below the age of 20 , but i base it very much off what i think and find comfortable in relationships in my life . like , katarina is around 28? 29 and one of her main ships is around 39 , but i find that more appropriate since they're both well and full adults .

HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY ARE CONSIDERED NSFW?

i think a lot of it borders on suggestive when you're mentioning arousal , but any touching of things that necessarily would be covered by underwear is enough to call it nsfw in my book .

ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?

um . yeah . i think a lot of shipping comes from the muses chemistry , obviously , but a lot of it also comes from how much chemistry i have with the mun outside of it . a lot of times if i don't feel comfortable with a mun it'll be a lot harder to ship with me .

... no ? to both ? i think all relationships ( romantic , kinship , friendship , familial , etc ) to muses are an integral part of developing the muse you have , obviously , but your entire muse shouldn't revolve around one ship / ships , they're more than just the people they're connected to .

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SHIP IN YOUR CURRENT FANDOM?

i'm a multifandom blog . pls don't ask me that . for valorant i guess it'd be sage/reyna , sage/yoru , sage/omen and sage/jett , for league it'd be ... lux/jinx? i guess? or aphelios/sett or ezreal/ekko and ... a lot of others ; there's like 130+ champs in league BAHA . i don't have many fandoms outside of that .

But, like, tell me about Uta. Do you self-ship with her? Do you have an OTP for her? What's your favoritest head canon for her? Do you have a favorite fic you've wrote with her in it? Or maybe one someone else has.

Oh my god yes!! Sorry this took me until today to respond to, I love any opportunity to talk about my favorite girl. 🥰

I do self-ship with her, both solo (UtaWurm) and poly with Sanji (lovingly referred to as the Heartthrob Trio <3). But I do also ship her almost exclusively with Perona! (I'm exploring some other ships with her as well, but this one if definitely an OTP)

I have a few head canons for her!

Shanks did not style her hair as a kid, absolutely no way. I think that job went to Beckmann!

Uta is bi (like most of my faves) but she definitely is very soft for the ladies, particularly a certain cute pink goth girl. When it comes to how Perona and Uta met, sometimes I like to think it's because of Shanks and Mihawk's... connection. Other times, I like to think Perona has always been a fan of Uta's and just fell hard for her favorite idol! If I had to assign a song to PeroUta, I'd choose Monster by King Princess. (if you're a fan of Adventure Time, you should check out the Distant Lands episode called Obsidian too)

Uta not only sings, she also plays piano and a little guitar as well! If you've ever seen the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's, there's this scene where Audrey Hepburn is playing guitar and singing a ballad in her apartment window and it makes me think of Uta every time.

If you thought the ASL bros were a menace, add Uta to the mix for EXTRA shenanigans. She can turn on the charm and the cutesy eyes and create the perfect distraction for the brothers to take a bunch of food and treasure!

Her favorite fruit is strawberries, favorite flower is peony, favorite animal is a rabbit, and she always has a tea for every occasion. She's gotta keep her voice in tip top shape after all!

How did I pull her? She came across me playing music and singing and she decided to sit and play with me. She's very smooth... Sanji also had MAJOR heart eyes for her but could tell I felt a type of way about her, so he backed off until we became an item (she thinks he's a lot but in a cute and slightly pathetic way)

As for fic recommendations, I'm always on the lookout since her tag is pretty barren in that regard. I HIGHLY encourage you to check out my lovely friend @starblazer124 's works! For Family, It's Worth the Fight keeps me up at night. I'll also pitch my fic Sleepy Eyes as well, it's short and very sweet :)

What made you ship it? Believe it or not, I don't remember exactly what it was. It's like the Ultimate Perfect Ship for me, it has everything I could wish for (snark! tension! villain/hero drama! complicated past, mutual respect, some degree of fondness, the "no one can kill/hurt you but me" trope is rampant) AND I can also morph it into everything I want according to how I'm feeling on any given day - and it will always work.

So it really could have been anything. I think the Nightwing run of 1994 is what planted the seeds it but I can't be sure at this point.

What are your favorite things about the ship? As I mentioned, the duality of it.

To expand on what I mean, any dynamic between them will work for me. I love it when Slade is a rapist, or he's manipulative, violent, outright abusive. But I also love it when he takes better care of Dick than anyone else in the world, and he's the only one who truly understands him. I love it when Dick does the sweetest most domestic things around Slade because he feels so comfortable and safe. I love it when he spits blood and resentment in his face, realizing just how bad this man broke him. Slade can be a strong&protective guardian angel to Dick, or he can be the reason why Dick is losing his sanity. Dick can be sweet and playful, or drawn to Slade because he's colorblind to red flags, or he's there because he's being blackmailed, or because his daddy issues pushed him into Slade's arms.

Sometimes they're madly in love, sometimes it's just sex, sometimes Slade is a rapist and sometimes he'd tear to shreds anyone who dares touch his most precious and beloved little bird. Sometimes Dick falls for him despite everything and sometimes he gets this close from stepping over the no killing rule because Slade constantly pushes him over the edge.

I love it. I can do whatever I want with these two and it will work. Sladick gives me oxygen.

I had an ask game on the old blog where people would send me Sladick prompts and I would write both the fluff and the dark version of them, and it worked SO WELL. Here's a random entry if you're interested.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? I don't know how unpopular this might be, but despite the whole duality thing I mentioned, I don't like a strictly heteronormative, ring-around-the-finger married, vanilla sex, monogamous relationship between those two. I can easily see them happily together and fluffy and domestic, but I can't process how a "straight, normal life" could work for them based on their personalities (unless it's an AU of some kind like a no capes situation), so I tend to not peruse this kind of content. But it might also be that my queer ass defaults to dislike that kind of relationship in the first place.

in chapter 10, finney found a faded old postcard in al’s bedside drawer signed by someone nicknamed ‘ollie’. this alluded to the fact that al has indeed had former flames! this “ollie” guy being one of them. and i think on some level, finney knows this, too, and that’s why he slammed the drawer shut hahaha. you’re right, al has always been kind of odd and eccentric, but he can also be incredibly charming and charismatic. pair that with his good looks and you have quite the interesting man. people are attracted to him—men and women alike—but he’s feral over finney. sometimes disturbingly so. and we all know finney very much reciprocates his feelings. he has a hard time keeping his jealousy at bay and feels the need to compete with other “pretty” boys like vance who he believes have the power to shift al’s attention away.

we find out more about al’s past flames in future chapters.

finney’s love for him absolutely eclipses any crushes the boy might have had in the past, including donna. and donna had been a pretty big deal. 😳 you’re spot on, though, absolutely no one holds a candle to his love for his magician! it’s intense and all-encompassing in a way he’s never felt before. and we all love to see it. ♥︎

i knowww, my poor baby!! imagine the heartbreak on his little face when he saw donna dating someone else! 😩 but it’s okay. even though wendy bell had been a momentary distraction, in three or so years he’d stumble upon a mysterious magician who would make him forget donna clarke ever even existed hahaha.

of course robin was there to help his best bud through the heartbreak. and we all know he offered to beat the shit out of donna’s new boyfriend for finney. ❤️

yes, absolutely! donna will be making an appearance shortly, and you’re right! she does have a crush on finney—but neither of them have acted on it, so the feelings have just been sort of left untethered. she does become a more prominent character in future chapters, though.

we’ve seen finney get worked up with jealousy on a handful of occasions now, but we’ve never seen al enter that state. that’s why it’s gonna be so fun to write it when the moment arrives because he’s so much more intense about it lmao. and once again, you’re absolutely correct; he’s intense and possessive and can be quite frightening, so whoever does trigger this response in him, he’ll very much go >:(

I honestly don't know if I can properly answer this considering I write ocs here? As far as my personal writing goes, because even counting rp that's the only thing that I can really go off of, I've started to love Pixie x Sommer, specifically in the 'standard' verse as well as their Omega variants in their Val verse. I'm huge on multi-shipping, even with my own characters, so truthfully an 'all time fav' is difficult to name.

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?

It kind of just depends? Anything more than 8 years will have me looking at things a little more closely, but it's muse + situation dependent, and my 'tolerable age gap range' varies depending on the age of the younger muse. General rule of thumb? 4-5 years for muses between the ages of 18-25; then the 8 year rule for muses older. But I also acknowledge experience and maturity is a critical factor in these sorts of things so... case by case basis at the end of the day.

i think a combination of ' the bikini rule ' and intent should be considered . ' the bikini rule ' covers , metaphorically , touches anywhere a bikini covers , so once touches start to be focused in those areas with sexual intent , i ' d start considering that nsfw . touching someone ' s butt as flirtation is nsfw , while jokingly patting someone ' s butt is more friendly , but still suggestive ? goodness knows i ' ve reached over and bopped a friend in the tit as a joke , with no sexual intent behind the move .

I'd like to think not? When it comes down to it, I tend to let my muses take the wheel with shipping, and I'm typically open to it provided there's chemistry and past interactions to go off of. Hard yes, without a doubt, both for my own personal comfort and for the sake of future interactions and the like. Very few of the muses I write here are 'easy to ship' for varying reasons, the most common being severe trust issues + emotional self isolation due to trauma and other factors. Some, like Wolf, Sommer and Phoenix, are violent and abrasive as a primary response. To put it simply; most don't play nice.

ARE YOU SHIP-OBSESSED OR SHIP MORE-OR-LESS?

I kind of just go with the flow? With writing and rp, I have the philosophy of thinking of threads and stories as a vehicle out on the freeway, and while technically we're the ones in the drivers seat at first, these characters we breath life into have free rein to take control of the wheel at any time on a whim, and sometimes you get kicked out of the car entirely and lose control. I love ships, don't get me wrong, but if it happens, sweet; and if it doesn't, I can live with that, sometimes ships aren't meant to happen .
