so many people are reblogging that post that says like "a vegan would rather wear all plastic than leather which is part of our symbiotic relationship with cattle" without an ounce of critical thought i wish these conversations could be had with more nuance

#ive watched tumblr make up a vegan to be mad at too many times and now yall got me posting about it!!#industrialised animal agriculture is not and never will be symbiotic #most vegans will go for second hand leather over pleather bc we KNOW pleather is bad for the environment #and guess what??? so is leather!!#yes its biodegradable but the process of curing mass produced leather is very environmentally harmful #and DANGEROUS to the people who make it #unless its made in a place with well-upheld OHS laws #also millions of cattle are bad for the environment for a whole multitude of reasons #its very frustrating caring a lot about something and seeing people make stuff up to invalidate a movement #veganism is flawed #criticise the real flaws #and then lets discuss how we can change animal agriculture to a less harmful system
