a few explanations for some things that have come up!!

why a 1v1 pvp?

tumblr polls don’t have either a ranked or a multiple choice options, so this is the best next thing. if i had more than 2 in each, i wouldn’t know what is ppl’s 2nd choice unless it is the second most frequent 1st choice, so to speak. having 1v1 polls would allow me to compare more data.

also, making ppl choose between two is less choice anxiety-inducing in my opinion. yes, a bit more work for me, but choosing between two is a little less work for y’all :)

why in order?

a few reasons.

first, i think a lot of ppl have a strong association between their opinion on the season and their opinion on the episode, so i didn’t want ppl implicitly comparing the seasons themselves instead of comparing episodes. ofc besides the finale-premiere pairings but i think the fact that they are supposed to be direct cause-effect episodes neutralizes that.

second, due to the fact that the show has a weird balance of episodic and serialized storylines, the general quality of the sequences of episodes is kind of inconsistent. this led me to thinking of this quality of the show as my own kind of randomizer. there are some pairings that are rather unfair, i admit, but that’s just how it turned out to be. i do have some failsafes installed in the calculation of the future rounds, so don’t worry abt that too much.

third, i think it’s a lot easier to compare the quality of the episodes when in context with each other. it’s just easier to remember how you felt going between one episode to another, so it would allow for a more informed opinion.

tumblr fandom is not a representative sample and is very cliquey.

you’re right! but it sure is fun to see two ppl who i know for a fact are mutuals reblog the same post and tag it with “SWEEP” for opposite choices.

on a serious note, yes, there are definitely going to be polls that were heavily influenced by where they got reblogged to, but even within the same circles, opinions range far and wide.

if it makes you feel any better, i can already tell that the polls have traveled across a variety of character-girlism association - and there’s still about a week to go for a good chunk of these polls.

what’s next?

well, we’ll see. once all polls are done, i am going to analyze how each episode did in both of its contests and how each of its opponents did in their own contests as well (and, if necessary to specify even further, how THEIR opponents did, too.)

additionally, i’ll put into consideration just how wide the winning margin is. a 51% victory is obviously different from a 90% victory.

also, even though i do hope for an approximately similar voter turnout for all polls, it would obviously not be guaranteed, as some episodes are simply much more popular or people have stronger opinions about them than about others. i would then also put into consideration just how many people were very active about promoting and voting for it…. even though i do hope i get a lot of votes in all of the polls <3

the exact plan for the future rounds is not exactly clear to me right now as i have a few different options. all would be dependent on the variety and frequency of similar results. there is a chance i would just be using the first round as a preliminary round to figure out how to sort the episodes into better fitting brackets for an actual bracketed march madness type selection. or maybe i’d try to find a way to make it a very specific ranked poll, specifically using the relative results from the first round. + other ideas i have that will become a lot more clear once i have the first batch of official results.

the best thing everybody can do now is just continue voting! all of the polls are tagged with the season number (e.g. #s4 or #s10) for the ease of navigation, so i encourage everybody to vote. the earlier seasons will finish their polls sooner than the later ones, so make sure we’re voting consistently. i would also appreciate any and all promotion for any polls that have less than average number of votes.

he sways with you for a moment before dipping you, pulling you close to him as he absentmindedly moves his lips to your ear, "this next move you need to stick your arms out and trust me"

"what? whY—CHAN!" suddenly you’re lifted in the air and you squirm in chan’s arms, "PUT ME DOWN"

the minute your toes touch the ground, you’re hitting chan but he puts his arms up in defense, "ow (y/n), did you not see us do partner lifts in the show? or were you just watching me the whole time?" 

chan winks at you but you shove him aside, ignoring the butterflies in your stomach, "you could have warned me!" you grumble

chan feels a tiny bit guilty so he pokes you in the side to get you to smile, "c’mon (y/n), you can’t stay mad at me forever"

he pulls out his biggest smile and you try your hardest not to smile back

it’s so hard being mad at him

he pokes you again in the side before tickling you and sprinting away as you chase him and tackle him down

you both lay down in the grass as you catch your breath, "the stars are pretty"

chan immediately interrupts, "you’re prettier" 

you shove him with a shake of your head as he laughs and covers his mouth, "it’s true"

"when did you get so smooth? I remember you were always super awkward when you hung out with chaeyoung and I... I miss those old times"

"do you really?" chan's sitting up on his elbows, curious to hear your answer 

when you look at him, you’re surprised to see him close to you and you fight the urge to confess to him, "of course not, I wouldn’t trade the past for the present, any day. you’re chaeyoung’s brother and always will be, you’re one of my best friends and always will be"

"I hate being just that" chan’s avoiding your gaze as he plucks a single strand of grass from the yard and tosses it to the side

"what?"

"ARe you children alright?" and there’s mr. kang returning from his nightly walk with a single eyebrow cocked at you two and a smirk on his lips

"hmmm, just dancing and talking wasn’t just dancing and talking back in my day," mr. kang muses, "you two should go to bed soon"

you both bow to him and he moves on to his apartment, humming some old song

you and chan go to bed and never speak of that night again

everything goes back to normal as if you both didn’t almost confess to each other but your feelings for each other still linger

days pass when graduation rolls around and you all end up going to different, faraway colleges, your friendship halted by the distance and being super busy

a couple of years pass and you decide to use your unused vacation days for a trip back home in iksan

your mother moved into a different district but kept the old apartment, handing you the key while telling you chaeyoung moved back home last year

you knock on the door that was usually kept unlocked for you, "hi! is there a lee chaeyoung her—chan?" 

you’re surprised to see chan instead, a couple inches taller with thin wire glasses on his nose and your ‘I’M CHAN’ shirt on his lean frame

and chan's thinking the exact same thing, "yeah, how could I forget?" he spins you around before catching you again and mustering all the courage he can, "that night, I wanted to tell you how I felt about you, about us… but you told me I was just your best friend"

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?

My A03 username, and main blog and twitter and facebook and freaking discord and literally every single thing is Darke_Eco_Freak either with hyphens, spaces or underscores and basically I was an edgy 11 year old who loved Jak II and the concept of the evil version of the protag Jak. Only I wanted to be extra Edge™ so I added an extra E to dark.

It’s been Virus from this piece of art for some months now. Why? Because Kat made it and I love it a lot so you know

Um damn, I haven’t gotten regular comments in a few months except from my friends whom I spam with my many many fics. I’m actually in another fandom I made another archive account for because reasons but yeah. My friends are my fave

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

I haven’t actually read fic in a while, there’s one or two Daredevil ones I think about but I don’t go back and re-read, my attention span’s been pretty shit for a while.

I’m not subbed to anyone but I have bookmarked 6 fics

None really. My latest fandom isn’t really open for AU’s, well written Au’s at least and yes I’m forever salty over that. Hmm, if there’s one I like to toy with though it’s Evil AU’s, you know the villain turns bad AU? Love em

Idgaf. I’ve written necro, cannibalism, torture porn, self-insert stuff. Honestly I dump most of what my other fandom wouldn’t accept on this one. Plus Fyodor is a very easy character to manipulate for me so it’s always fun.

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.

I’d like to be better about my chaptered fics, not abandoning them and things like that. Also, action scenes, I want to get better at those.  

11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?

I multiship myself to hell. For this fandom I write whatever catches my eye because I don’t know the characters all that well? The running meme of me not watching the show is still a thing. In my other fandom, I’m one of the few writers around and I write every single ship I can think of cause I can.

12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?

One my darke account: 73, on my other account; 10 but I post a lot to tumblr and don’t really cross post all that much.

13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?

I can’t tell you that because I just keep huge word docs around but for the year I’ve written about 600 k so that’s cool.

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

I just write off the top of my head most of the time, I’ll talk out a plot with a friend sometimes but otherwise it’s just whatever I feel as the day goes.

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?

I have, two, soon to be three.

I think I saw someone on ff.net mention it and I started looking at the site.

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?

Fuck no lol. I’m here writing the rarest of pairs and writing oc/characters, not to mention in first person sometimes and those tags alone mean ppl won’t read. Eh, I’m just posting to archive to bolster the number of fics a character has tbh. (this is for BSD fandom but I’ve never been a popular/famous author in any fandom)

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

Umm, half the time I’m not sure I have ppl beyond friends who read my fics so yeah.

19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

I’d say Lakshmi Persad, a local author. Mostly because I hated having to do that book in lit class and wanted to do better than her.

20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

If you want it, make it. I’m serious, don’t count on anyone to make the content you want to see, do it yourself and people might follow suit, if not, at least you made it. Hella.

21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

I finish stories and still have no idea if I figured them out or not.

22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

I’ve gotten a few, mostly I ignore them. But there was this one fic, it wasn’t for anyone but me and I shouldn’t have posted it at all but I did and someone told me that the characterization was completely wrong for the character I was writing and I ended up leaving the fic alone for months and months. I got back to it eventually but I’m not sure if I’ll ever finish that fic tbh.

23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)

Action gives me joint pain. I just how do you make it flow?

It used to be 300 a day now it’s 2k because apparently I hate myself. Most of the time I meet it, between the two fandoms I write for daily so yay.

Absolutely.

Step back Through Time and Remember my Touch, definitely those two. One’s the original fic and the other is the sequel. Best things I wrote all year

Maybe Gone, that’s a really old one but god the cringe.

Hopefully I figured out those damn action scenes.

I think bringing the characters to life in my own head is the easiest thing.

Not letting lack of feedback get to me cause I’m not writing popular shit, I don’t expect it but god damn it gets discouraging as fuck to see something I worked hard on just kinda flop and drown.

1) Are you named after anyone? As far as I know, No I am not. My name is Paige, and it really isn’t a popular one??? I know maybe 2 other Paige’s.

2) When was the last time you cried?  I cried on my birthday, which was on dec.3rd!! I cried because my cat has a small collection of bottle caps under my bed and my boyfriend and I always add to it, and she was actually playing with them and I was just...overwhelmed w/ her cuteness.

3) Do you have any kids? ahh no, not yet. I’m 22 and I feel it’s too young for me. I would eventually lovvee to have kids. Preferably two.

4) Do you use sarcasm a lot? Mmmmm yeah, it’s one of my forms of humour.

5) Eye color? Hazel!! Leans more towards a forest green fo sho

6) Scary movie or happy ending? I love happy endings, but I also enjoy scary movies...It depends on my mood, I suppose. Usually, it’s romance stuff I’m a big sucker for. 

7) Special talents? Honestly, I’m not that talented. I’m really fast at reading and I have a knack for killing all plants I own except for Aloe!!! I am also a good listener and enjoy helping others with their problems if that counts? (but I see that as being a good person)

9) Do you have any hobbies? I love hiking, taking walks, yoga, reading, writing, singing, photography, getting lost in my imagination, and collecting plants and rocks I find on my adventures!! I also collect enamel pins and like, different gems and such. I always try to tap into my creativeness by doodling and watercolor painting. 

10) Do you have any pets? YES! I love animals. I have a dog named Blue (We call him Bluebird, and he’s a silly Australian shepherd/cattle dog mix), I also have a cat named Penzi (who was found in a Penzoil can) and Walter, who is a grumpy old boy. I want a snake someday, as well.

11)What sports have/do you play? I currently run and do yoga as my athletic activities, and beach volleyball in the summer. I used to play soo many sports when I was younger. I did ballet, karate, eskrima, basketball, and soccer. I was also on the Track and Field team in high school, where I did high jump and long jump. 

12) How tall are you? I’m a whopping 5′5 baby. 

13) Favourite subject in school? I always was proficient in my literature classes. I love analyzing poetry and classical novels. I also have a passion for science, which is what I’m going to school for. However, I really suck at math. Also, I was in an advanced photography class which was super cool!!!

14) Dream job? I’d love to do some science stuff. I’m hoping to get a degree in conservation and environmental sciences, with a focus in freshwater ecology. I just wanna help this world out.

Tom and Jerry fo shizzle I used to love that show so much but its all cgi now and I’m like bleh 2) What helps you when you’re stressed out?
