Puppy Love Pt. 2
Pairing: Bucky x F!reader
Warnings: Fluff
Length: 984
Summary: You and Bucky finally name the new puppy and introduce Alpine.
A/N: If you haven’t read pt. 1 yet, here’s the link! How would y’all feel if I made this into a mini-series? I just love the idea of Alpine and a puppy!
I do not give consent for my work to be translated, copied, or sold!
Once Bucky opened the door, he fell in love. How could he not? The way that the puppy looked up at the both of you, wagging it’s tail was too much for both of your hearts.
Bucky sits on the floor with the puppy, petting it and smiling. “Ok, I can see why you brought it home.”
You close the door behind you, making sure Alpine stays out of the room. “Yeah, he’s too cute.”
“It’s a boy?”
“Mhm!” You hum. “We do need to take him to the vet though, gotta make sure that he has all of his shots.”
The puppy lets out a soft bark and you hear a soft meow on the other side of the door. The puppy tilts his head before wandering to the door to sniff out the culprit. He sits at the door, pawing at it with his tail wagging.
“He really wants to meet Alpine,” You smile back at Bucky.
Bucky smiles at you but you can tell that he’s getting nervous. You place your hand on his knee and gently kiss his lips.
“Alpine is going to love him, I promise you.” You reassure the super soldier.
Bucky nods and looks back at the door. He notices that the puppy has gotten up and is playing with Alpine’s paw that she managed to wedge beneath the door. Bucky relaxes a little and smiles.
“You know, we should probably give the puppy a name.” Bucky looks at you.
Your smile widens. “Ok, let’s think of some names and then we’ll narrow it down.”
Bucky pulls you into his lap as you both watch the puppy, thinking about his name. You play with Bucky’s fingers as the names start to come to you.
“Ok, I have 5,” You turn and look at Bucky.
“I have a couple too,” He smiles at you and gives you a quick peck.
“Ok, you go first!”
“What do you think about Max?”
“Uh… I don’t hate it.” You shrug.
“Ok, well you give me a name and we’ll switch off.”
“How do you feel about Archer?”
“I feel the same way you feel about Max. What about Buster?”
You laugh at that name. “I’m sorry, I don’t want you to think that I’m laughing at you, it just sounds like what an old person would name their dog.”
Bucky pinches your hip and you yelp. “Hey! I’m not old!”
You snort. “Says the man who is 107. Ok, what about Romeo?”
“I’m definitely vetoing that one. What about Rocky?”
“I would love the name Rocky if he was like gray or black, but he’s a light brown.” Bucky nods his head and looks over at the puppy, still playing with Alpine.
“Yeah, you’re right.”
“How do you feel about Peter?” You suggest.
Bucky looks at you with a raised eyebrow. “Are you only suggesting Taylor Swift-themed names?”
You gasp and dramatically place a hand on your chest. “How dare you accuse me of something like that? I would never-” Bucky gives you one look and you cave. “Ok, yes I am. But you love her too and she has some pretty good dog names.”
Bucky nods his head in agreement. “You got me there, I do love Folklore and Evermore. But we are definitely not naming our dog Peter.”
“Ok, fine!” You sarcastically roll your eyes and Bucky laughs.
“What do you think about Charlie?”
You hum in approval. “I do like that one. What about Benji?”
Bucky tilts his head. “I don’t like that one very much. I don’t have any other names so you can tell me your last one.”
“What about Whiskey?” Immediately the puppy turns his head and looks at you.
“Well I guess he just chose his name,” Bucky laughs as Whiskey makes his way to the both of you.
“It’s a compromise. It’s still a Taylor Swift reference but it’s also your favorite drink.” Bucky hums.
“I think that we should introduce Whiskey to his sister, don’t you think Doll?” Bucky gets up and offers a hand for you.
You gladly take his hand and pick up the puppy, giving him a kiss at the top of his head. Even though you reassured Bucky that Whiskey and Alpine would get along just fine, you couldn’t help but feel nervous. It’s only been a couple of hours and you both already love Whiskey to the moon and back so if you had to find a new home for him, it would be devastating.
“Let’s introduce them.” You nod your head at Bucky and he opens the door.
Unexpectedly, Alpine is sitting at the door waiting for all of you. She is a pretty independent cat and only wants attention when she craves it, usually late at night before bed. Bucky bends down to pick her up to move to the living room, a place that would be more neutral for both animals.
Alpine jumps out of Bucky’s arms and waits patiently for you to let Whiskey down. The puppy squirms in your arms, also wanting to be let down. You look at Bucky, who’s sitting on the couch, and he nods at you. You gently put the dog down and sit beside Bucky.
Whiskey immediately starts to sniff Alpine and she does an inspection of her own. The two pets stare at each other for a minute before Whiskey bolts with Alpine chasing after him.
You let out a relieved laugh. “Oh, I’m so glad that they’re getting along.”
Bucky wraps his arm around you and gives you a kiss. “You called it Doll.”
You both hear a crash come from the kitchen and your eyes widen. You hear Whiskey barking and Alpine meows right back, almost as if the two are arguing.
“We better check on them,” You say as you get up.
Bucky gets up and shakes his head. “Acting like actual siblings.”

skz hyung line x taylor swift eras
hi stayswiftie ville!!
so, im hiperfixated on both subjects and i love associating taylors eras with the things i enjoy, so w skz it would be no different :) here's my opinion!!
only the hyung line bc i lost inpo during lmao
wc: 420
notes: grammatical errors, ts unbearably, perhaps a wrong view of their personality (?) & i went to far on hyunbini im sorry 😭😭😭 i love them
bang chan - speak now / reputation!! - bro went to a lot and talked about karma multiple times, rep is something made to perform and impact, at the same time as it has insecure and more of melancholic lyrics. of course all the members went through this, but it's just that is chan more yk. and sn is just. yes. "something in his deep brown eyes has me saying 'hes not all bad like his reputation'" & all of superman & never grow up & back to december 'bout chans room :( & LONG LIVE AND TIMELESS FOR SKZ !! &@,#, im gonna shut up now but i actually have a entire playlist with these and others songs, letmk if you wanna check out :))
lee know - 1989 - i see a lot of this album associated with seungmin. for me, i see more of minho, its just the vibe that he passes on to me, since i don't know him deeply. but it's something more hidden from the media, living your youth in strange ways alongside people u appreciates, idk if it makes sense but ok kansmwj
changbin - debut / taylor swift - oK LISTEN. I KNOW HES SO COOL AND GOD OF RAP AND THEY HAD TO TAKE THE POCKETS OUT OF MY PANTS BECAUSE I WAS JUST WALKING WITH MY HANDS INSIDE THEM bUT- have you ever seen him with THE cowboy hat in topline mv? 🥺 but it's about the beginnings you know, all the way from 3RACHA to stray kids, rock and country on the same album just like we have 'sorry, i love you' and 'thunderous' in noeasy or 'leave' and 'lalalala' (all produced by changbin) he deserves everything! and your talent and effort should be recognized as many times as necessary <33 (and deep down, i also love imagining changbin with a goat with a pink lacy bow on it head KABSEKDHEKJD
hyunjin - evermore - i stand by that so fucking much you have no idea . hyune has a huge impact on stage of course, tHE photos with the red hot chili peppers shirt also made me feel,, things. but he is so much more than that :( he is an hopeless romantic with such beautiful piece arts about love and feelings. he has also shown interest and lived answering philosophical questions in the bubble community (rip 🌷) *han also mentioned that he talked a lot about philosophers with hyunjin, right? i'm not sure now* his arts also have a lot of shades of brown, yellow, gray and black and personally, these colors are very fall colors and "omg i'm in tremendous melancholy" vibe aswell so = sad autumn = evermore. HE ALSO POSTED ABOUT BETTY FROM FOLKLORE AND THESE TWO ARE SISTERS🤓. i really want to someday be able to talk about the lore of 'no body no crime' for him, also talk about the sapphic vibe radiating from 'ivy' and he would love it so much, 'champagne problems' too!! and after that he can post a beautiful photo on insta with 'evermore' in the background ((yes i took the delulu pills today

Midnights vs Daylight
Thoughts on TS Midnights title and promotion (This will tie into my ‘Thoughts on the Eras tour’ theories)
I think we can all agree that folklore and evermore were pandemic products. If there had been no pandemic, it stands to reason that Lover would have led directly into Midnights (especially with the way the re-recording process has inspired this album). And that’s interesting because Lover was originally meant to be titled Daylight.
So instead of getting an album called Daylight, we now have an album called Midnights, the polar opposite. Could that be because daylight never came after all and she’s stuck in an eternal night?
Midnights announcement and visuals
In the midnights announcement on socials, we got two images: the cover of Taylor holding the lighter, and the image under the announcement text from the promo photo shoot. Immediately, these two do not look like they are front and back of the same album. The cover image on white background has a modern classy but glamourous tone to it, and the announcement photo has a depressed 70s vibe. So the duality here is not hidden, and that confused me at first, but I do think this is deliberate and once we got the Anti Hero mv, it became clear why:
Midnights is about hiding your true self in favour of protecting a beloved public image and Taylor has perfected this to such a degree that her public and private personas have become two separate entities battling each other until they finally learn to co-exist, as we see in the two Taylors in the mv. One is the quiet contemplative one, the other is the loud party girl. One writes the songs, the other is the performer. One is the trusting people pleaser, the other knows that everyone will betray her. These two Taylors and their differences are the overarching theme of the video, and that theme carries over into the dichotomy of the midnights album style: Private vs public
Front: She’s wearing her glittery stage make up here so while we can’t see her outfit, I do think this is meant to be the performer Taylor. She’s holding the lighter open and looking at the flame, which to me feels a bit threatening, like she’s poured the fuel and is about to drop a match into it. And what did performance Taylor do this year on tour? Ah yes…burn the Lover house. (More on that HERE if you haven’t read my lover house theory). We should have seen it coming 😊
Back: The second image has even more to unpack, both in the photo and the text. I wasn’t a gaylor on the internet back in 2022 so forgive me if I’m repeating what other people have already pointed out. Taylor is inside with the curtains drawn, blocking out the outside world, looking hopeless with her head in her hand and phone in the other. The old phone could be a reference to the one she uses in the Anti Hero mv to call for help, so maybe she’s trying to call for help here and no one is answering. Or it could be a nod to the red phone from MMWM which many have pointed out could be a reference to the ‘red telephone’ Moscow-Washington hotline during Soviet times, which was used to deliver encoded messages. I like this interpretation, because the way she’s holding the receiver looking so devastated really gives me the vibe of someone who’s been on the phone with a person for ages who is just not getting the message. Almost like someone whose constant flags and encoded messages are falling on deaf ears (to a large majority)… I’ve also noticed that there is a framed photo of two people on the table in this house where she supposedly paces the floors alone at night, but can’t really make out enough to say anything more than that.
Now for the text: I’m by no means the first person to point out that the ‘lanterns lit… out searching’ is from one of Emily Dickinson’s letters to her lover Sue which seems a fitting comparison for Taylor, the writer of many lyrical love letters to her muse and lover. But what really gets me is the sentence
‘Just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve … we’ll meet ourselves.’ Why the ellipse? The sentence would have made perfect sense without this, so why add that deliberate suspense? What happens when the clock strikes 12? In the following months we also got the ‘it’s a clock’ video announcing that the four midnights vinyl covers together make a clock, and then the Eras tour literally starts with a countdown to midnight. Clocks ticking down to 12 are also in both the Bejewelled and Karma mv, so safe to say this means something. The obvious one is the Cinderella connection, which was probably an Easter egg for the Bejewelled mv, but if that’s all it was then it could have stopped after the video was out. Notably also, Cinderella’s party ends at midnight, whereas Taylor’s starts both in the mv and on tour. Midnight is the first minute of a new day, so this seems a lot more about new beginnings for me, than eternal darkness. I’ve pointed out in a previous post that Taylor references the song ‘Naughty’ from Matilda the musical in her Eras tour performance of Anti Hero. That song not only references Cinderella heavily, it also includes the lyrics ‘Every day starts with a tick of a clock/ All escapes start with the click of a lock.’ So… interesting that the announcement post mentions both ticking clocks and cages. Is she escaping from her self-made cage at the strike of midnight? Which brings us to the final, but very loaded, sentence of the announcement.
Meet ME! At Midnight
Before you come at me, yes I know, that’s not how it’s written. It’s meet me, not ME!, but that would be first and foremost, way too obvious, wouldn’t it. I still think that this is where she is taking us with this sentence, back to the beginning of the Lover era, the dawn of daylight, if you will. If you need a reminder, ME! was the first single off of Lover and kickstarted the sunshine and rainbows parade that was meant to be her coming out with the glorious ME! OUT NOW post on Lesbian Visibility Day in April 2019. This whole summer has felt strangely similar to that, with cruel summer becoming a single and playing endlessly on the radio, Taylor being unashamedly queer in public and surrounding herself with other queer artists, gaylor discourse in mainstream media outlets, and then of course, Karlie Kloss of all people showing up to the last LA show. The congratulatory comments under GLAAD’s instagram post from the VMAs felt much the same to me as the ones under TN’s post of the ‘proud’ bracelet back in 2019. The people that get it, get it. We are officially in the soft launch period.
So, is there going to be a hard launch? Maybe. With all this open queerness I could totally see her just gradually turning it up until she gets photographed kissing a woman in public one day and it’ll just be a case of ‘deadass thought I made it obvious’… But the lesson from the 2019 (not so soft) soft launch was that a lot of people would still rather default to accusations of queerbaiting than assume that she is queer herself (as shown by what happened to Kit Connor last year), and I’m sure she wouldn’t want that again. For that reason, and the fact that she did have a plan to explicitly come out in the past, I think she may have another go in the future, whatever form that may take. One thing I will say, as it ties into this midnights to daylight theme, is this:
With all this clock/countdown imagery, it is notable that the three different versions we have so far of the midnights album are all chronological on a clock. Starting at the top, we have midnights, then the 3am edition, then ‘dawn’ which is around 6am, so to complete the circle we’d need a 9am (or near enough) version. I know that seems unlikely, as 9am is definitely morning and not night anymore, but maybe that’s the point, that at the end of midnights we have a daylight version. ‘You’re loosing me’ is still not officially out on streaming so there is a glimmer of hope that maybe one more version is coming.
What era are we actually in…?
It’s hard to remember that we are actually still in the midnights era with all the re-releases stealing the show and the throwback to lover with cruel summer. But given that the masters heist foiled her plans to come out and made Daylight into Lover, it makes total sense that the 'midnights to daylight' era is the one that includes those important re-releases to further this journey.
She has made so many positive changes and additions to these ‘Taylor’s versions’ that I think it’s just as much about owning her work, as it is about owning the narrative she puts out there. And on that note, it may not be a coincidence that the titles that Taylor has left to reclaim now are her birth year, her name and her reputation, all things that are intrinsically linked to her, and she has arguably never been more authentically queer out in the open. I’m not saying these next three re-releases are suddenly going to have she/her pronouns, but they may have vault tracks that would never have made the cut back in the day. And if we thought the 2017 version of rep was already unbelievably gay… I won’t make any predictions for the tv, but I have high hopes.😊 And I still think that if we end with debut (tv) in June 2024 (Pride month), then ‘TAYLOR SWIFT OUT NOW’ isn’t looking too far-fetched. And I recon if I was putting out something called MY version of MY name, I'd want to make sure that it absolutely reflects who I am. It did surprise me initially that debut wasn't the first album to be re-released and it's in fact now looking likely to be the last one, but it makes sense if she is using it as an opportunity to go back to the beginning and re-write the story. What a boss move that would be: ‘My version of ME, OUT NOW’ and maybe she really means it this time.
My prediction is, that the end of the midnights era will also be the end of the re-releases (some time next year) and with the final one we end the night and step into the daylight. ☀🌈

The Tortured Poets Department Review
Now that I've sat with it for a few days, I actually have some coherent thoughts on TTPD, though I won't know where it falls in my overall rankings for a while.
Overall
The thing people aren't getting is that this is Taylor Swift. This is, quite honestly, one of the most quintessentially Taylor albums she's ever released. It has the lyricism of Folklore, the sensibilities of Evermore, the self-awareness of Reputation, the storytelling of Fearless, the specificity of Debut and Speak Now, the vagueness and metaphors of 1989, the synths of Midnights, the rawness of Red. It's American Gothic. It's fictional. It's nonfiction. It's confessional, it's scathing, it's cringe, it's clever, it's more than a little crazy.
She admitted things in this album you couldn't waterboard out of me. People say it's the most unlikeable she's been, but it's also the most human. She's not censoring herself to keep her likeability. That's brave.
Fortnight [feat. Post Malone]
Do I like it? Yes. Do I think it should have been the album opener and the lead single? No, probably not. I'm planning on doing a track by track breakdown later, so I'm not going to go in depth on the lyrics here, but there are some interesting metaphors. You can tell she thinks she's slaying the "I want to kill her" line, and while she is, I don't think she's serving as much as she thinks. A vibe. On my playlist but not on repeat. 7/10
The Tortured Poets Department
The title track. This should have been the opener and lead single. It makes a much better mission statement for what this album is than Fortnight does. Who's gonna hold you like Taylor Swift? No fucking body. The production is.... twinkly? for lack of a better word. She's being specific and metaphorical, making cultural references, and she's self-aware--this is Taylor Swift, people. A vibe. Not on repeat, but only because I have others I prefer, not because I don't love it. 9/10
My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
It's a metaphor, it's tongue in cheek, it's self-aware, it's heartbreaking, it's a bop. She knows the relationship is toxic and killing her, but it wasn't always, and so she keeps holding on hoping it will go back to the way it started. At the end, she accepts that it won't be going back. Lyricism? Peak. Beat? Peak. On repeat. 10/10
Down Bad
Incredibly real and human. She's reflecting on the feelings of being love bombed then left behind, how it feels so good until it really, really doesn't. A call back to New Romantics. The lyrics say sob, the beat says dance. 10/10 on loop.
So Long London
A track five. Does it live up to the name? I'm not sure. It's sad, certainly, but it doesn't have the rawness of All Too Well or My Tears Ricochet. It's more resigned and tired. She's accepted that the relationship has fallen apart and now she's just tired, frustrated, and ready to be done. Even if she's sad, she still has some control, and that makes it a little easier. Drags on a little long for me, but the flip of "so long" is definitely clever, and she has some very relatable lyrics, and I see the purpose to it being on the album. 7/10.
But Daddy I Love Him
Love Story's older sibling. Again, I won't get too into it bc I want to do a breakdown. She's self-aware but it doesn't help because she's just desperate to make her own decisions. Calling out conservatives and small-town churches. Cringe in places but that's our girl. Minus a point for the baby lyric being in the chorus instead of like. the bridge. Half a point back bc you SHOULD have seen my face. 9.5/10.
Fresh Out The Slammer
This has some juicy information, but I'll save that for the breakdown. Very metaphorical, but also specific enough we know what's going on. Excellent story-telling. Really brings us into the headspace she was in at the time. I don't have it on repeat but through no fault of it's own. 10/10.
Florida!!! [feat. Florence and the Machine]
Flop. The drug metaphor isn't that creative and while there are a few decent lyrical moments, it's just not that good and the soundscape isn't interesting enough to redeem it. That said, even a bad taylor swift song is better than a lot of other artists. 5/10.
Guilty As Sin?
I don't think I've ever heard a song approaching this issue (emotional infidelity) in this way. It's got all the hallmarks of a Taylor Swift song: pop culture references, references to her past discography, religious symbolism, an outro that matches the intro. It's painfully honest, unapologetic, and human. A bop. 10/10.
Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?
Mad Woman and Mirrorball are shaking in their boots. It's giving horror, it's giving Salem Witch Trials, it's giving a reflection on fame and its effects. It's terrifying, it's haunting, it's beautiful, it's heartbreaking, it's unhinged. 10/10 doesn't feel like high enough.
I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
We're at the saloon and I'm happy to be there. Another song that is quintessentially Taylor: country sensibilities, religious themes, self-awareness, story telling, change in the outro, bad decisions made out of love. Not my favorite but only because I like other songs better, not because I don't like it. 9/10.
loml
This may be the saddest song she's ever written. Two meanings to "loml" as there should be. She's heartbroken and it's breaking me too. Vocals are giving "I'm on the verge of tears." Story telling, religious themes, metaphors. It's scathing, it's haunting, it's confessional. I'm not crying you are. 10/10.
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
Lyrics are giving heartbreak, sound is giving bop. So powerful and relatable. Excellent storytelling, and tells us so much about her headspace. We know exactly what she's talking about. It's giving Youre On Your Own Kid. 10/10.
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
The storytelling, imagery, details--all peak Taylor. It's scathing, it's haunting, it's Taylor Fucking Swift. Wild to me that Mattie Healy's family listened to the album and were relieved because it could have been worse when this was in it. This, the take town of the century, could have been worse. Legendary. 10/10.
The Alchemy
If one more person tries to claim this is about Travis Kelsey there will be blood. "Oh but the football metaphor--" she's been doing that for years. Miss Americana, anyone? She's weirdly obsessed with high school football. This isn't about Travis, it's clearly about a rekindled relationship, not a new one. Travis can't spell "heroine" (I don't think he's stupid, but his tweets have proven he cannot spell). Metaphorical, clever, and definitely tells us her mindset. A bop. 9/10.
Clara Bow
This song. The Lucky One, Nothing New, they're both shaking in their boots. A reflection on what it's like to be a pop culture woman, the lies they tell you, and the promises they pull from you. Taylor saying her own name in a song. AND it's the album closer. 10/10 isn't nearly good enough.
Extended Album
The Black Dog
The storytelling, the way she took a single moment of stalking her ex and turned it into a beautiful lament on what it's like to lose someone and imagine what they're doing now, then in the outro brought it back to that one instant--and people say she can't write. Religious themes, references to past songs, this has it all. 10/10
imgonnagetyouback
Before people go around accusing her of copying Olivia Rodrigo, this would have been written before Get Him Back came out, so no copying occurred on anyone's part. They each took the concept and turned it into two very different songs. Imagery, story telling, craziness, a BRIDGE. 9/10.
The Albatross
Story telling, metaphors, literary references, clever turns of phrase, a change of meaning in the outro. Either a reflection on the way she's frequently depicted or is fictional, most likely a reflection on the way she's depicted through a fictional character. Just feels a little distant to me. 8/10
Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus
Heartbreak, metaphors, bisexuals--what more can I ask for? All while she's imagining her ex moving on and thinking about how it fell apart. Objectively good but just not that interesting to me. 7/10
How Did It End?
Another that's objectively good but just not clicking for me. Story telling, metaphors, the lyricism is slaying. Asking how it ended through the lens of a gossip uninvolved in the relationship, but not being sure how it ended herself. 7/10.
So High School
Glitter gel pen. Objectively, not that creative or interesting. It's just a bit of fun. She's not taking herself seriously, she's writing silly song about how she feels like a silly teenager in love, and it does have some interesting lyrics. It's a bop. You know Travis heard this and was like "this is great babe I love it." Objectively, like a six, but this song has a choke hold on me for some fucking reason. 9/10.
I Hate It Here
Everyone's talking about the racists lyric and I swear reading comprehension is gone. Piss on the poor. This is for the girlies who daydream 'too much', who devoured books in middle school, who took things to seriously and too literally. 10/10.
thanK you aIMee
This song is so funny to me. "Here's thirty songs about my mental state and btw fuck Kim K." Serving metaphor, lyricism, and homicide. A mythology reference. A scathing takedown. 8/10 an icon.
I Look In People's Windows
I've not seen nearly enough people talking about this one. It's so relatable, honest, and unhinged. Storytelling, imagery, wondering what if. Heartbreak. I've never heard a song take this approach to these emotions. 9/10.
The Prophecy
The desperation, the feeling of hopelessness, they hit hard. She's reflecting on the repeating patterns of lost relationships, and how it feels inevitable at this point, and how she's willing to beg for it. She's losing hope, and willing to do just about anything to have it again. 10/10 devestating.
Cassandra
I am a mythology nerd at heart, so using Cassandra as a metaphor was a guaranteed way to get me obsessed with a song. She's serving lyricism, story telling, imagery, metaphor, mythology references, anger, sadness, what more could I ask for? Heart breaking. 10/10
Peter
Literature references, lyrics, heartbreak. Objectively, it's very good, but I'm bored. 7/10.
The Bolter
Storytelling, imagery, lyrics, literature references, the Bolter serves it all. I'm not entirely sure what it's about but it's a bop. I think it's fictional, but it's Taylor reflecting on her own life through the lens of this fictional girl. 9/10
Robin
I. Don't care. It's probably got great lyrics or something but I skip before I'm through the first verse because I'm just bored. Sonically, boring. Lyrically, the first verse doesn't redeem it. I've listened all the way through once and it was enough for me. It's not egregious, it's just not interesting. Flop. 4/10.
The Manuscript
I also skip this one but I have more of an appreciation for it than I do for Robin, just because of the subject matter. I have my theories on what it's about *cough* All Too Well Ten *Cough*. I like this as an album closer as well. French press lyric kills me. 7/10.

For era #2 (1989/evermore) of @cruelsummer-ficfest 💕
✨ Gold Rush ✨
My mind turns your life into folklore
I can't dare to dream about you anymore
~
“There’s something I want to talk to you about.”
“Anything you want.”
“You say that every day.”
“It’s true every day. I’m all yours. So what’s on the agenda?”
“You and Lavender.”
“Ugh. Pass.”
“Ron.”
“Why don’t I just throw myself off a bluff into the ocean instead?”
“Ron.”
“Okay, okay. What about me and Lavender?”
“Well, I suppose it’s more so about me and Lavender…”
“Were you snogging her, too?”
“Oh, for Merlin’s sake. I’m going to push you off a bluff into the ocean.”
“Honestly, Hermione, out with it, then. What about me and you and Lavender?”
“I never apologized to you.”
“You did, actually, about a hundred times.”
“For the birds, yes. Not for the rest of it.”
“I think the rest of it was more my doing, so…”
“I should’ve been more clear about my intentions for Slughorn’s Christmas party. And about my feelings for you in general.”
“You really don’t have to apologize for that.”
“I do. You’ve said plenty of sorry’s over the past few weeks, and I owe you some, too. Maybe if I had told you how I felt last year, we wouldn’t have wasted so much time.”
“If you’d told me how you felt, I probably would have snogged you right there in the greenhouse, and we’d have both wound up in detention. Besides, you could say that about a lot of things in the past year—hell, the past few years—but that doesn’t make it your fault that we missed out on that time.”
“I should’ve fought for you.”
“Fought for me? You make it sound like I’m the last of Mum’s Christmas biscuits around nine hungry Weasleys.”
“Well, that’s sort of how it felt last year, with everybody wondering what it would be like to love you.”
“Who’s everybody?”
“Okay, maybe not everyone. But Lavender and I, obviously. Hannah Abbott and Susan Bones both thought you were quite fit. And I do believe Anthony Goldstein would have been interested if you were so inclined.”
“Huh. Always wondered why he wanted my help with homework instead of yours. Suppose Wingardium Leviosa wasn’t the only one of my charms that caught his eye.”
“You are so lame. Why do I love you, again?”
“You just said it, I’m good with my wand.”
“Anyway…I didn’t like the Ron Weasley gold rush that seemed to be taking place. Selfishly, I hated the idea that I was going to have to compete for your attention.”
“You had it already, you know.”
“Until I didn’t. I didn’t make it clear that my hat was in the ring, and when Lavender kissed you, I folded. You had every right to carry on with her, even though I hated every second of it. I always wondered what it must be like to grow up that beautiful, and then she had you, too…”
“Hermione—”
“I was jealous, and I acted foolishly, and I took you for granted. You had to nearly die for me to see how horrible I was to you. So I’m sorry.”
“Apology still not necessary, but accepted.”
“Thank you.”
“For what it’s worth? You wouldn’t have had to fight that hard, if you had. It’s always been you. No contest.”
“For me, too. No contest.”
“But…do you ever think maybe it’s a good thing I had that little detour with Lavender?”
“You know, the wind really is quite strong out here on the coast. I could make your death look like an accident.”
“I’m serious. We don’t know what would have happened if you and I got together sooner. I do know we’re here now. I wouldn’t trade the path we took, because I wouldn’t want to end up somewhere else.”
“That’s actually very sweet.”
“Always the—”
“—tone of surprise, yes, yes, I know. I should stop being surprised by you by now, but it keeps things exciting, doesn’t it?”
“Good save.”
“Speaking of surprises, do you think Harry realizes anything has changed between us?”
“Hermione, the man has got more important things to think about than if you and I have finally got our heads out of our arses. We’re trying to save the world here.”
“So definitely yes?”
“Definitely yes.”
“I suppose it’s not exactly subtle that you’ve been sleeping in my room every night.”
“We don’t sleep every night…”
“That’s beside the point.”
“I think that’s exactly the point, and—are you blushing?”
“We should get back, Fleur will have dinner on soon.”
“I can’t believe you’re blushing. Especially after last night…”
“Ronald!”
“Wow, two weeks together, and you’re already embarrassed of our relationship. That cliff is looking better and better every minute.”
“You’re insufferable.”
“And yet, you love me.”
“Alas. Yes, I do. And you love me.”
“Yep. I reckon you’re stuck with me now.”
~
And the coastal town
We wandered 'round had never
Seen a love as pure as it

I imagine that, instead of being a lonely Zillennial (21+ cause roaring 20s tossin tossing pennies in the pool, it’s supposed to be fun turning 21, how can a person know everything at 18 but nothing at 22-ooo oo ooo, she’s still 23 inside her fantasy and your sitting in front of me) woman (she/her) covered in cat hair (it’s a party) drinking in my wine-aunt bi-wife energy (I am the bi-but-not-so-much-wife; LGBTQIA+🩷💜💙), I am a ghostly Victorian lady (a better way to put Chronically Ill/anemic spoonie🥄🦓🦄 INFJ/INFP w CPTSD🩵) wandering through the backwoods with a candle in a candlestick holder, writing only on parchment with a feathered quill (instead of ranting from my not-so-new phone on Tumblr at 3:00 a.m. like the Midnights become my afternoons insomniac I am, off to some secret garden in my mind or fangirling on a Swift Stream).
Just a folklore / evermore girlie that would’ve could’ve should’ve been a head writer/artist in The Tortured Poets Department if only my crying a lot was more productive instead I just try to keep making art & am an avid reader of all of the books beside my bed.
I mostly speak now in English (though I grew up learning ASL🤘just not as handy here *pun intended*😅 & I try to keep up with swift fluency for Swiftie acronyms iykyk-yoyok🤣).
🫶 So, It’s me, hi 👋 you can call me “the problem” or Lila (short for Delilah) or Lav (short for lavendar) As in @lavendarneverlands the 1 main blog of ✨mine🪻 (cause lavender haze was taken & alas, there’s nothing I hate more than what I can’t have), so I guess I’ll just stumble on home to my cats, alone… but if you follow this page you can come along💖 I’m usually running back home to you here on what’s the seven-th-ish Tumblr side-blog I have for fandoms like this!
So, Welcome Swifties! Long live the magic we make!
P.S. yes, I’m still a believer: that every Taylor Swift song is actually about her cats.
If you want the D.L.X. bio there’s a more chapter below:
Here’s some basic Q&A’s to trade friendship bracelets:
My Taylor Swift cry song is: Champagne Problems
& if I don’t scream/sing “She would’ve made such a lovely bride what a shame she’s fucked in the head” then I have been beamed up in a cloud of sparkling dust.
Same with “And you were tossing me the car keys, "Fuck the patriarchy" Keychain on the ground, we were always skippin' town. And I was thinkin' on the drive down, "Any time now, He's gonna say it's love," you never called it what it was. 'Til we were dead and gone and buried; check the pulse and come back swearin' it's the same, after three months in the grave. And then you wondered where it went to as I reached for you, but all I felt was shame and you held my lifeless frame.”
I have never been to a Taylor Swift concert. & It is not for a lack of trying. Yes, I hate it here.😂 But yes I watch every stream I can, I love Surprise Song o’clock. Minus the fact I’m bad at math for CT.
Confession: I’m horrible at hearing lyrics right & either really good or really bad at acronyms.
First album heard & album experiences: Debut I heard but it was brief it was really Fearless as the first album I got super into & then went back to Debut after, Speak Now was my age group/childhood, Red was the obsession phase & only sanity in my life, 1989 will forever & always be a bop, Reputation is severely underrated, Lover was all I listened to that entire year, folklore was my true love at first sight, evermore saved my brain in a really tough time, of course the re-recordings are all I listened to Taylor’s Version all day everyday (just waiting for Debutation) Midnights is perfection I loved it day 1 to wherever we are now, Tortured Poets Department is THE album everyone I know heard and went LILA ITS YOU (or should I say ME!).
Current album rankings: — (trying to think technically) — folklore, evermore, Midnights, The Tortured Poets Department, 1989, Reputation, Speak Now, Red, Lover, Fearless, Debut — (trying to think subjectively) — evermore, folklore, The Tortured Poets Department, Midnights, Red, 1989, Reputation, Lover, Speak Now, Fearless, Debut
Swiftie-ness: I do LOVE Fall & I don’t care that I’m basic. Why would you make fun of someone for being excited? In a world where we can like whatever I’m happy to be excited over enjoying TS music. And I wanna be remember for the things I love! + I think she is a gifted storyteller. And her music has put words to what I cannot, I’ve grown up with it steadily, got more into it during Lover, super into it during folklore & super next-level Swiftie during Midnights & Eras Tour but I’ve never not been a fan. Minus the one thing I hate getting stereotyped for: I don’t get weird with it; death threats are too far, stalking someone isn’t being a fan it’s being a stalker, be kind & enjoy enjoying something, but be people people. However that’s not the Swifties I know, I like the friendship bracelet group of y’all! Let’s fandom about it!
Clowning Levels/Thoughts/Theories: I predict Rep first, & Debut being called Debut Taylor’s Version… though “Taylor Swift Taylor’s Version” would be epic. TBH I’m just excited for whatever they are :-) & yes, I, Eras Tour clown an embarrassing amount😅😂 while also loving where we are in this era/age.🫶💕

"There's something about the complete and total uncertainty about life that causes endless anxiety, but there's another part that causes sort of a release of the pressures that you used to feel. Because if we're going to have to recalibrate everything, we should start with what we love the most first." - Taylor Swift, folklore: the long pond studio sessions
I never realized until this exact moment why Folklore was my favorite album of hers.
I've been wondering about that. I've wondered for some time, now.
I figured maybe it was because I am so ridiculously sentimental, nostalgic, and just straight up emotional a lot of the time.
But then the voice in my head would be like, "Okay, but you're not those things all the time. That's not what you're known as, by the people who know you. You're known as the bubbly, energetic person who secretly struggles with depression from time to time."
So I went back and I was like, "Okay, but then why is this the album that resonates the most? I love Midnights, Lover, Evermore and Reputation too. I adore 1989. But why is Folklore just the album for me?"
I could never answer that question. Or, I couldn't give a satisfying answer, at least.
But I know now.
Because Folklore represents that passion you found and clung on to when the world went to shit and you weren't sure if you or your family would even be here in a year.
Remember that feeling you had back in March of 2020? That feeling of helplessness, that feeling of loneliness. That feeling of being forced to stay confined, and even if you were already an introvert (which I was) it still bothered you that you didn't even have the option to see the people you loved.
A lot changed for me during 2020.
That was the year I said to myself, "Fuck me if I'm going to die of a fucking virus without even trying to pursue my dream."
It was the year I decided to try to get in to Law School, no matter the cost.
Spring of 2021 is when I started writing again, after having written nothing for about 10 years. Summer of 2021 was when I was told I had gotten into Law School despite the odds being stacked against me.
I found so much, back in 2020. I had the worst and best year of my life because I had to face so much about myself that I was not at all ready to face, but once I did, it all turned out for the better.
It made me better. And stronger. And happier.
And I just realized that is why Folklore is my album. Because that album was written in the spring of 2020, when everything was so uncertain, when everyone felt so lost, and lonely, and started reflecting on who they were and what their lives were like.
I know not everyone went through this process, and that's okay too.
But I did.
And I think that's why Folklore speaks to me. It doesn't just make me feel things, it shatters me in every kind of way.
The reason I even started listening to it was because I saw Taylor perform My Tears Ricochet at The Eras Tour, and she did that specific part, that fucking goosebump eliciting part, where she drops to the floor as she sings just not home.
And I remember watching that Tiktok and going, "What the fuck is this????" Because it made me emotional from the get-go.
Now I can barely watch a single performance of her where she sings any song from Folklore without tearing up.
It feels like a soulful connection and even though I didn't think I believed in that, I just might now.
It wasn't written about me, it wasn't even written for me. But it's mine now. That album has brought out more feelings in me than I could ever describe.
It's.. The One.
I'm doing good, I'm on some new shit. Been saying yes instead of no.

Initial thoughts (spoilers)
I don't think this is Midnights 2.0 as some people are saying... but it's also not not Midnights 2.0? There's unmissable hints of Folkmore (The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived would fit well on Evermore (half of it anyway... if you get what I mean)) Like the Jack Antonoff synths are here but they're also fundamentally much more interesting than on Midnights. For example, I love how the synths just sound off and funky on Down Bad which really wouldn't fit the slick production. It would be disingenuous to say this sounds totally divorced from Midnights but it's also not the carbon copy some feared. I honestly think it's much better than Midnights, as she did give up her glitter gel pen as advertised.
Which brings us to the lyrics. You could tell Taylor herself wanted to put the lyrics forward given how forward her vocals are on the mix. Although Twitter will undoubtedly have a field day with "Charlie Puth should be a better artist" (well you can tell they were high), I honestly think this album has some of her most diverse writing yet, from the pop culture references to the person life hints we all know and love (tangent: these will take ages to plow through, that's for sure...). It's reminiscent of literally every previous era. I even hear hints of Speak Now on But Daddy I Love Him.
Again, the main criticism I have for The Tortured Poets Department is that it is way too long. As two separate albums, sure, but 31 tracks is giving Drake levels of blurring the lines between a playlist and an album. Especially The Anthology, yes the songs are beautiful and the lyricism is as strong as ever but after sitting through 25 songs I'm kind of losing track.
Honestly, not to pull a Lover review but cut roughly 10 of these tracks, work in a few catchier hooks, and this might give Folkmore a run for their money. But well.
HIGHLIGHTS: My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys, Down Bad, Florida!!!, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, Clara Bow
lowlights: I Can Do It With A Broken Heart (we have Paper Rings at home...)

my friends who don't know shit about taylor swift requested a pre-album explainer of wtf is going on so i wrote them a little newsletter... if you want something to send to your non-swiftie friends it's beneath the cut
Good morning team,
Why do we need a Swiftie newsletter?
I mean, no one really needs this. But she’s dropping a new album (“The Tortured Poets Department” or TTPD for short) in three days and I’m here to provide you with the information you need before the album comes out. I’ll be back with a post-album review letting you know 1) what juicy gossip was revealed on the album, 2) what tracks you should listen to, and 3) a few things you can say to your Swiftie friends to sound cultured.
What’s this album about?
Okay, I know this is ancient history, but cast your mind back to 2016. Kanye and Taylor Swift are beefing, and Kim Kardashian posts a clip of a phone call that makes Taylor look like a liar. Taylor gets canceled on social media and disappears for a year.
While all this is going on, she meets her boyfriend, the British actor Joe Alwyn. I have no clue what movies he was in at the time, but since then he was in The Favorite and Harriet, and also Conversations with Friends (I think, I haven’t seen it because Normal People put me off Sally Rooney). Here’s a quick timeline:
Late 2017: Taylor comes back with “Look What You Made Me Do” and reputation. People think reputation is a bad bitch album, but it’s actually an album about finding love in a time of despair.
2019: She drops Lover, which is about many things but primarily about how she loves him and wants to spend the rest of her life with him.
2020: Pandemic. Taylor writes two quarantine albums, folklore and evermore. These are primarily fictional, but there are a few love songs about him. He co-writes some of these songs pseudonymously.
2022: Midnights. This album becomes wildly successful. It occupies all of the top ten slots on the billboard hot 100 in the week it comes out. It breaks a bunch of sales records.
2023: The Eras Tour starts! Two weeks in, they announce the break up. Taylor briefly dates Matty Healy of the 1975, who is by all accounts a total asshole. This appears to have been a shitty rebound. A bit later, she starts dating the football player Travis Kelce and everyone loses their minds about it.
It looks like this album is going to be about the end of a relationship of six years and possibly rebounding/moving on.
Okay, but like… why did they break up?
I mean, I don’t know any of these people, so all I can offer you are guesses based on song lyrics:
1 - He was really big into his privacy, which is kind of difficult if you’re dating Taylor Swift.
2 - A lot of songs on Lover are about wanting to get married. There’s a song on Midnights that implies that she wanted to get married and he refused. Yikes.
What’s the promo situation for this album?
The most notable thing to me (and what is this if not me rambling about my opinions) are some playlists curated by Taylor on Apple Music. Each playlist focuses on one of the five stages of grief in mourning a relationship, and they contain songs from her past albums. There are copycat playlists on Spotify, if you’re interested. My favorite is “am I allowed to cry?” which is the playlist for the bargaining stage.
There’s also a wall in Chicago with a QR code that leads to a video of the words “Error 321 13” and a hidden message in her song lyrics that spells out “Hereby Conduct This,” which is presumably a message that will be finished by the time the album comes out.
What do we already know about the album?
16 tracks with 4 bonus tracks. There’s a song with Post Malone (yes, really) and a song with Florence + The Machine. I agree, this is not an intuitive combination, but I’m excited.
Two of the songs are over five minutes long. Two songs are entirely self-written, five are written with Aaron Dessner (from the National), and eight are written with Jack Antonoff (the producer who works with all the pop girlies). Her collaborations with Aaron Dessner are some of my favorite songs of hers, so this is good news to me.
That’s my preamble to the Tortured Poets Department!
I hope this was informative, but I barely scratched the surface. You have no idea how deep this goes. Also, I need you all to know that I sat down and wrote this in one sitting without Googling anything, which probably means I know too much about this subject.
In the meantime, I’ve been listening to “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter which is a very stupid song that is fun to listen to. I’ve also been listening to girl in red’s new album, I’m Doing It Again Baby! which is aggressively mid. If you want to listen to a song on it, I recommend “Pick Me.”
See you in three days!
#i know i oversimplified and omitted a lot of stuff#but my goal was not to scare anybody away#taylor swift#ttpd

moni how are you feeling about 1989 tv?! bucky would love clean 🥺💙 im so soft at the idea of sharing taylor’s music with my favourite characters... they’re real TO ME!!!
now listen... Clean yes.
But "say don't go" fucking got me
i always imagine Bucky caving and buying some headphones, where he would strictly listen to podcasts about the most random things. You know, because the randomness of it all, just a couple girls and guys talking about weird fetishes or the nice things they'd do during Christmas. But sometimes he'll decide to cook and plug in some Taylor Swift, because Sam definitely told him about her because Sam enjoys all genres of music.
But Bucky listens in order. He'll listen to Peter and refuse Debut and Reputation because they're not re-recorded yet, and start with Fearless (TV). Not his cup of tea, but he doesn't give up yet. He'll give Taylor another shot.
Speak Now (TV). "Dear John", "Back to December", "Innocent", and "Timeless" are the ones that got him. He's obsessed now. He listens to Back to December in the damn shower and bursts his throat when singing "I MISS YOUR TAN SKIN, YOUR SWEET SMILE---"
Red (TV). Bucky lays on the floor listening to that rollercoaster. "Begin Again", "Come Back, Be Here", and "All Too Well-10 minute version". He breaks his own heart. He stays inside for a week after that, just him and Alpine. Sam knocks from the outside of his bedroom window, laughing when Bucky throws his lamp and shatters it.
1989 (TV). His guilty pleasure is Style. It's everyone's guilty pleasure. Out of the Woods is on repeat as he runs on the treadmill. Bad Blood ft. Kendrick Lamar plays when he boxes. "This Love", though... Fuck, he's back in depressive mode. He gets to "Clean"... just like "All Too Well", it reminds him of Steve. And Hydra. He shoves his phone in his jacket, covers his airbuds with a beanie, and listens to it on repeat in the pouring rain. When it's done, he's smiling. He goes home and... shoves all the whiskey into a box and throws it all away. Then "Say Don't Go" comes on and he... still smiles. It hits him in the gut, but it made him oddly nostalgic.
He skips Reputation like Peter told him to... Lies. He listened to the full version of "Don't Blame Me" because it's all over TikTok and no one could stop him. He apologizes to Taylor as he hits replay for the 67th time.
"Lover" has him calling Sarah and bullying her for that being her favorite album. He won't admit "The Archer" made him yell "FUCK!" with a knife in his hand (he was cutting some carrots) and accidentally swipe his own finger in the process. or that "Lover" is yet another guilty pleasure.
He made the grandest mistake of listening to Folklore during the Christmas season. All that progress he made in accepting himself and Steve's loss, comes flooding back and Sam has to stay the week with him. Apologizing profusely, "Dude, you should have told me you were on that shit. I was planning on bringing some ice cream, a gun, and a target sheet for that bitchass album." When that episode eases, "mad woman", "hoax", "exile", and "cardigan" are his favorites. "This Is Me Trying" was a one-time listen and he will revisit it once he's truly healed.
Evermore sealed those wounds, "Coney Island" opened one stitch. Champagne Problems is his next shower song, if you can believe that. He's yelling it. In his car, too.
Midnights pulls him back in. "Bejeweled", "Midnight Rain", "Dear Reader", and "High Infidelity" are his faves. Clint squints his eyes super fucking hard at Bucky whenever he hears the small yell of "NICE!" in Bucky's headphones at the compound gym. He knows better than to question the past assassin, though. Clint's got "Karma" on his gym playlist, soooooo... Kate wrapped him up in Taylor Swift magic as well.
All in all, Bucky's a massive Taylor Swift and will defend her against the outlandish slander that seems to drip into conversations at bars, game nights, and online. Bucky's been visited by agents once or twice because of his comments made to haters online. He just smiles and tells them his head is in the right place. For now.
He can't wait for Reputation to drop. He knows he's going to love it, that there is such a thing for the Winter Soldier to be in his "Reputation Era" again, even if the 1900s was basically that for him. But he has control over it. When he plunges a knife in someone's neck modern-day, he wouldn't mind the bass of Taylor Swift's most transformative and astounding album to play in the background.
....
I went deep into this. MCU Bucky needs a fanfic where he dives deep into these songs and each of his favorite songs from each album is a different chapter. Just him and his earbuds, and maybe a corny Taylor cameo in the end lmaoooooooo
Did I answer your question??

I'm making a playlist of songs that I think Taylor wrote about Karlie and always get caught up in the sadness storm in Folklore/Evermore. I find both pretty hard to listen to, especially if the lens is that Karlie broke Taylor's heart and/or vice versa. My sad parasocial heart can't come from the romantic highs of Reputation and Lover and then think that the two had a huge, heartbreaking fallout. LOL That said, I pretty much treat your lyrical analyses as gospel, so I was wondering if you had a list of the FolkEvermore songs that you think are about Karlie. I think maybe I can eventually listen to the albums in full when I know that the sadness isn't just about Karlie seemingly betraying Taylor and Taylor's heart smashing into pieces. (I do know that the albums are also heavily influenced by the Masters Heist, staying in the closet, and maybe even some of the demons TS has with her dad. I'm sure the pandemic also played a part in all the sadness.)
So yeah, I'm a weird consumer of music. Sad songs make me sob, and I don't love that feeling, haha. So I'm the rare fan who gets too depressed listening to those albums.
Hello 👋🏼 and ok, this is kinda long so let me go bit by bit.
If you want, I can give you some of my suggestions of which folklore/evermore songs should go on a kaylor playlist, but that's only based on my interpretation. Will do at the end.
Thanks for the compliment on my lyrical analysis, I love doing these, but please don't take them as gospel.
A lot of people mistake the acoustic/low production nature of folklore and evermore as sadness, and don't get me wrong, some of these songs are gut wrenchingly sad, but just because a song is slow and acoustic doesn't automatically make it sad. Cardigan is very much a happy end song, TLGAD is super fun (imo), so is No Body, No Crime, and Invisible String. But yes, some of these songs are pretty devastating. Reputation definitely got the 'honeymoon phase' love songs, but Lover had False God and Afterglow on it (and the Archer!), so I'd say that already showed the reality of long-term relationships pretty well, and they're just not all sunshine and rainbows forever.
I don't think a single song on these albums suggests that Karlie broke Taylor's heart...? If anything, Taylor always paints herself as the guilty one/the coward when it comes to that relationship. I think there were definitely insecurities and rough patches that show up in some songs, but the real pain is in working through the 2019 stuff, which is mostly about losing your life's work and someone who was like a father figure.
And you're not weird for consuming music with emotion, good art is supposed to make you feel things :)
OK, so, here's my additions for a kaylor playlist from folkmore (songs that I associate with them): cardigan, illicit affairs, invisible string, betty, peace, the lakes, willow, champagne problems, ivy, cowboy like me, and gold rush.

AtLA Characters and the Taylor Swift songs that make me think of them:
Zuko: Anti-Hero (Midnights, 2022)
I should not be left to my own devices
They come with prices and vices
I end up in crisis (tale as old as time)
I wake up screaming from dreaming
One day I'll watch as you're leaving
'Cause you got tired of my scheming
(For the last time)
It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me
At tea time, everybody agrees
I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero
Katara: the 1 (folklore, 2020)
I'm doing good, I'm on some new shit
Been saying "yes" instead of "no"
I thought I saw you at the bus stop, I didn't though
I hit the ground running each night
I hit the Sunday matinée
You know the greatest films of all time were never made
I guess you never know, never know
And if you wanted me, you really should've showed
And if you never bleed, you're never gonna grow
And it's alright now
Sokka: New Romantics (1989 [Deluxe Edition], 2014)
'Cause baby, I could build a castle
Out of all the bricks they threw at me
And every day is like a battle
But every night with us is like a dream
Baby, we're the New Romantics
Come on, come along with me
Heartbreak is the national anthem
We sing it proudly
We are too busy dancing
To get knocked off our feet
Baby, we're the New Romantics
The best people in life are free
Toph: You’re On Your Own, Kid (Midnights, 2022)
‘Cause there were pages turned with the bridges burned
Everything you lose is a step you take
So make the friendship bracelets
Take the moment and taste it
You've got no reason to be afraid
You're on your own, kid
Yeah, you can face this
You're on your own, kid
You always have been
Aang: The Best Day (Fearless, 2008)
I don't know why all the trees change in the fall
But I know you're not scared of anything at all
Don't know if Snow White's house is near or far away
But I know I had the best day with you today
I'm thirteen now
And don't know how
My friends could be so mean
I come home crying
And you hold me tight
And grab the keys
Suki: Cowboy Like Me (evermore [Deluxe Version], 2020)
You're a cowboy like me
Perched in the dark
Telling all the rich folks anything they wanna hear
Like it could be love
I could be the way forward
Only if they pay for it
You're a bandit like me
Eyes full of stars
Hustling for the good life
Never thought I'd meet you here
It could be love
We could be the way forward
And I know I'll pay for it
If you guys wanna see any other characters, send me an ask!

hello i am a major taylor fan and i like her music bc
1) the vibes are kinda “expansive” (reputation is alt-light, folklore and evermore are folk-light, parts of speak now (imo) are pop-punk-light). basically she almost hits on the genres i’m already into, and i really enjoy that.
2) nostalgia bc ive been listening to her since i was 8 and she was going for a kid-friendly vibe and she’s grown up a bit so listening to her makes me feel comfortable
3) more generally: she does political takes safely (the man = women don’t have it as easy as men. here’s a girl-power anthem about it. you need to calm down = twitter bad, gay ppl good, stop being mean to women!!!)
4) tbh not a popular take but i enjoy her lyricism and i think she’s good at taking specific circumstances and making them feel universal (ie champagne problems or the last great american dynasty or all too well) (tlgad ALWAYS makes me cry and idk why)
5) even her poorer lyricism stirs smthn in me (like yes taylor i do want to go to the lakes where all the poets went to die… how did you know???)
and 6) i think her beginnings wearing more “casual” clothes that you would see in a high school contribute to her success even today, as it contributes to the nostalgia factor i mentioned earlier, especially for women her age and just younger. she’s just like them, she gets them, they’re the same.
in summary i go crazy for taylor swift and will continue to do so but also ik it’s not for everyone (also rec listen to the cruel summer bridge i feel like that jives with anyone)
Thank you for this response! I meant to reply earlier but I forgot. The nostalgia aspect makes a lot of sense because she has been around forever. I actually haven't listened to folklore or evermore yet and I know that's when a lot of people who weren't fans started respecting her songwriting more so maybe I should just try those. I still think saying she has expansive genres is pretty goofy because she literally is just a pop artist but I really don't mean that in a bad way. I'm actually a fan of some of her music and have 1989 on my spotify and stuff I just don't think it's like super different or extraordinary. I get why she's popular I just don't get why she's popular among people who usually don't like those sorts of artists. I'll definitely listen to cruel summer and maybe some of folklore to continue to try to understand. Thanks again!!
