Chaser Game W Season 2 episode 3 might be the first successful try this show had at being somewhat serious. I actually really did feel bad for both of them despite all the mess. If they can keep up this tone I might actually enjoy the second season :D

Im gonna rant about I Was The Final Boss as I analyze the characters everybody is not seeing the way the author intends to present them, and provide insight on Baphomet and Reaper's relationship.

I don't like how people are shitting on Baphomet's feelings towards Reaper.

Calling it sudden, ingenuine, out of nowhere.

It breaks my heart that people absolutely missed the point of his child-like smile in the first chapters when he finally felt human emotions.

That Baphomet had always been capable of so much more--why else would he have developed a consciousness when he was a Mob Monster, and climbed his way up the tower?

Why else does he feel so much emotions like rage when he realizes how weak he is? When people break his toys, people he's fond off in his own Baphomet way of being battle-crazed?

Why else does he seek life outside the tower--why else did he, with all his heart, wish to be human?

Baphomet has long since expressed humane characteristics even when he was a monster---it started with curiousity, envy, and then fondness.

I don't understand why he can't fall in love when he can feel anger for people in his own baphomet ways. (He remembered the crew that followed him around in the mines even if he didnt remember their names and took revenge. He cherishes the grannies in his neighborhood. He even thinks of Beelzebub as well, feeling partially responsible for the guy turning into a human child when it was indeed his own very selfish wish, and not the demon's.)

From the very start, ever since he questioned the status-quo and climbed the Abyssal tower to be its boss, he had already stopped being just a demonic beast shackled by the system.

Like a human, having free will and doing whatever the hell he wants---why wouldn't he also fall in love?

Remember that Baphomet is a demon beast that has long since stopped being JUST a beast, ever since he started fiddling with the damn smartphone in the tower and started listening to music and harboring interest in humans. He's actually not as incapable of these human emotions like love that people seem to think. Yes, even if he's battle-crazed---which is why I love his character actually, he's not just a protagonist in a box!

HIM, GOING THROUGH HUMAN EMOTIONS AND EXPERIENCES IS ONE OF THE MAIN POINTS OF THE STORY that you can DEFINITELY see the author put a lot of care and thought into showing.

Gradually learning empathy, which made him hesitate to kill loki. falling in love with a human who kissed him out of nowhere, and feeling his heart flutter at that, she occupies his thoughts and then seeks out to see what it's all about, only to be rejected--god, I loved that chapter. all of which he, too, criticizes himself for, but that's because---he's literally "human" now! He is no longer trapped in the tower, no longer shackled by his "base program" of "kill humans," and has free will and free thought, all of which he is discovering as we progress into the story!

It's literally just him, former demonic beast, being "human."

If his eyes can sparkle and marvel at the ocean when he first saw it, if he can take interest in games and love human food, while all the while being genuinely faithful and sincere towards his battle in life of being the strongest being in the world and uh, being obsessed with tearing limbs apart.. why can't he grow especially fond of a particular human and embrace the feelings that come with it?

He had great chemistry with Reaper---they were these polar opposites that you wouldn't begin to wonder why he'd be fascinated with her---because she didn't make sense, but Baphomet had always been curious, despite his deadpan and idgaf moments. She was comfortable to be around with, and she understood one thing about him best---that he was someone who didn't understand a lot of things, and she accepted that. Still got along with him well and NEVER held his ignorance against him.

There was also her recurring ideology---an understanding of demonic beasts being more than just creatures to kill, but creatures that can be reasoned with. Creatures with wills. Being treated like any other human, capable of evil? I cannot see how that isn't going to be interesting to Baphomet, and it had always shown how he considered her words and listened.

It may be questionable, as a thorough victim of the Gate Shock. Why doesn't she hate them? Why doesn't she despise them?

The thing is---in those moments of her trauma, and even as she lived on---Reaper despises herself the most.

How powerless she had been. Which is also why she kept emphasizing how strong Baphomet is.

To her, the one at fault wasn't the monsters who surrounded and killed everybody they touched.

It was also the hunter who took advantage of her mother and the granny. And of course .. her, who had no choice but to eat her mother's corpse to survive.

So I don't understand how people are missing this about Reaper.

I don't understand why Baphomet can't fall in love.

I don't understand why it's out of character, for this character who used to be just an entity programmed to only kill and be killed---who already went against that system and developed his own thoughts, opinions, and questions as a simple mob of a demonic beast---to develop romantic feelings towards the only person who showed him softness and intrigued him so.

I actually like that he instantly confronted his feelings once he knew what it implied, it's very in character of him to not be afraid of confrontation! It's very in character of him, to first be in denial, and then finally, follow his curiosity, never afraid, but cautious and curious.

SPOILERS AHEAD AS I CONTINUE TO YAP

That's what makes the season finale all the more painful, and while it upsets me for the author to suddenly spring unto us that Reaper had another personality within her that earned the name of being the Apostle of Gluttony---

(AN EDUCATED GUESS from Yeoruem completely being conscious as she asks him to save and kill him... There is A LOT MORE that happened to Reaper that, I think, just couldn't be fitted in the events of the finale, and is something to be thoroughly investigated in season 2.)

---who took the brunt of the trauma from the Gate Shock, and all the while have her instantly try to kill Baphomet.....

My guy didn't even have any moment to spare to know what's going on, just that he felt so betrayed, confused---why else did he instantly activate the code?

For that day, he lost his will to fight.

I'd like to think, the moment he was fighting her, that just like how he was able to see Loki's past, he watched her as well.

And understood that she had turned into a monster that needed to be killed, whose only salvation is death.

For his first fucking love to turn out like that, my heart breaks for him, and the fact that y'all don't see any of it at all. how this was a huge fucking slap to the face of his fate.

That even as a human, his fate is destined to be bloody.

That's what bothers me the most and I need people to know!!!! That Minu Cha!!! Baphomet!!!! Is not!!!!!! incapable!!!!! of developing feelings!!!!!! even if you headcanon!!!!!! him as ace!!!!!

Disliking him for being actually so human, to fall in love easily, how ironic when that's the story that people gloss over with how cool and merciless the author paints him to be most of the time.

After this though, love is gonna be the very last thing in his head.

But I hope, Reaper's death won't be in vain. I want her to taint him so much, the image of her, everything that she was, that she'd be like a stain in his red shirt.

I want to see her in the things he does, not just completely erased like this, and find out what in the ever living fuck happened to my girl.

synopsis: your daughter misses jay, but as a pilot his schedule requires him to be in places but at home. So she sulks and sulks..

“Come on, say hi to appa” you coo at your 3 year old daughter who refused to talk to her dad, “yeorum-ah i miss you so much, i promise to come back to you and give you all the cuddles and all the kisses. Let’s not be mad at each other hmm?” Hearing your husbands voice trying to convince your daughter to finally open her mouth and respond. A smile appeared on your face, reflecting your amusement. 

But she was your daughter, maybe jay’s genes did not even try to fight at this. Your husband, a pilot was once again gone for his work. A grueling week with multiple destinations was for sure hectic. “He said the same thing last time” your daughter mumbles, pushing the phone back to voice barely audible because of her pout.

You gently try to console her. “I know it’s hard, sweetie,” you say softly. “Appa has to be away for work, but he loves you very much.”

Mumbling again, “But it’s not the same when he’s not here. I miss him mmh…..” she complains shifting again on your lap. you sigh, understanding the pain in your daughter’s voice. 

You know too well the sacrifices involved and the strain it places on your family. “I miss him too,”you admit, talking to her as you gently rub yeorum’s back. “But we’re so proud of him, and he’s working hard to provide for us. It’s just for a little while longer. So can you talk to him?” Jay watches through his phone as your daughter finally sits still on your lap, “That’s my girl, appa apologizes for making my little princess this sad.”

“I wish you could be here right now” yeorum says as she overdramatically lets out an exhale, Jay gives a reassuring smile. “Me too. But I am thinking of us every moment. And when i get back, we’ll have all the time we want together.”

With her lips curved up to a smile, your daughter looks convinced now “Will you do anything i want when your back here?” She asks as your husband raises his eyebrow and chuckles softly, trying to predict the little one’s answer “Yes honey, tell me anything you want or want to do. Now, what does my baby want?” 

“You’ll play princess-princess with me!”

jay thinks, about the time when yeorum watched her first ever disney princess film, where her eyes first caught the glammed up looks and the pretty dresses, she wanted to recreate it on her dad. Well, she actually wanted to do it on you but then she claimed, ‘eomma s’already a princess’ 

Jay sat on the floor of the living room, smiling as yeorum carefully applies makeup to his face. She’s holding a small brush with great concentration, her tongue poking out in focus as she sweeps bright eyeshadow across his eyelids.

“close your eyes, appa!” she says with a giggle. He obliges, chuckling softly. She hums a little tune while she works, drawing thick lines around his eyes and then reaching for the lipstick. 

“You look just like a princess!” She says passing the mini pink hand mirror to her now pretty appa.

Just as he’s about to comment on his new look, his phone buzzes on the table. He picks it up and his expression shifts from amused to concerned. “Oh, man. I’ll be there in 10 minutes don’t worry”

Yeorum looks up at him with wide eyes, her signature disappointed pout evident on her face. “Appa, you have to see how pretty you look first!” she insists, holding up a small handheld mirror.

He glances at his reflection and stifles a laugh. “Wow, I look… amazing, baby.” But there’s no time to fully appreciate her artistry. He rushes to the bathroom to wash it off, only to find that the eyeliner and lipstick won’t budge. His heart sinks as he scrubs harder, but the marks remain stubbornly in place. Walking past the washroom, a distressed jay catching your attention. You walk over keeping a hand on his shoulder as he flinches, “Oh my god.. is it not coming off?” You say slowly getting worried and tensed yourself. 

“Yeorum-ah” you call out, trying to keep your voice calm, “what did you use to do appa’s makeup?”

She proudly holds up a set of colorful markers. “These! They were in your drawer!”He groans inwardly as he realizes she’s used permanent markers. His meeting is in ten minutes, and there’s no way to get it off in time. Double fuck.

“Shit. What do we do jay?” You say, trying to rub the eyeliner of his face. With no other option, he throws on a hat and large sunglasses, hoping they’ll hide most of it. As he heads out the door, kissing you and yeorum goodbye. She waves cheerfully. “Good luck appa! You look so fancy!”

He forces a smile, knowing this is going to be an interesting day at work.

You could say, to this day you’re grateful that she didn’t glam you up. 

It finally lift yeorum’s mood up after jay promised her he would once again, play the game with her. Now deep asleep in her room, your and your husband’s laugther echoes as you reminisced about that day. This time you’ll make sure to hide all the permanent markers from the drawer. 

As your giggles go quiet, suddenly feeling shy as jay looks at you through the screen with those lovestruck eyes. “Hi” you say, voice sweet and soft. “Hi” jay says as he brings the phone closer to his face, eyes shifting between you and the camera every then and now.

“You look beautiful, did i tell you that yet?” He adds, As the words left his lips, you felt a warm blush creeping up your cheeks. Your smile widened, almost uncontrollably, and you glanced down, biting your lower lip to suppress the giggle bubbling up inside of you.

He caught the change in your demeanor and chuckled, his voice low and full of affection. “What? Did I say something wrong?” he teased, leaning a little closer to the camera, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

“yeah i heard that a couple of times today” He grinned, unable to contain his own laughter now, the sound of it mixing with yours in a harmonious, joyous melody. You both knew that the words you shared were simple, but it was the way he said it, the way you looked at each other, that made you feel like teenagers in love.

You tilt your head “It’s hard convincing her you know..” you start, “when i feel the same, lonely without you.” you start to smile a little as jay raises his eyebrows and smiles back at you “I know, no wonder where she got this trait from.” he jokes as red tint appears on your cheeks, “But i know, i love you and i miss you every single moment honey.” He says, bringing his camera close to his lips as he kisses it. 

Back in the cockpit, jay adjusts his headset and catches a glimpse of his family photo pinned near his control panel. He takes a deep breath, a mix of longing and determination in his eyes. He knows his absence is hard on them, but he holds onto the thought of their reunion, using it as motivation to get through the flight.

just finished my first bi-annual reading of Magical 12th Graders in 2024

subversive magical girl story, great character writings, very comedic (made me laugh out loud so many times), the tone-shift whiplash between comedy and seriousness/sadness is really fun (i personally think the comedy is well-placed and doesn’t ruin the serious tone at all)

highly recommend if you enjoy reading a subversive and more realistic magical girl story!

For me Gahyeon is on the of the list. She just has the face and the attitude for being that ex that stalk you, acting like it was the most normal thing in the world.

Another maknae would be Yeorum. Don't let her cute face fool you. Even if your relationship is over, you would constantly continue to meet her, always telling you how much she still loves you and miss you.

And in the end Rosé. How dare you leave her? No one can break up with her without her consent, especially when she still loves you so much. Kinda yandere, ngl.

Yongsun é o segundo filho de Kang Yeorum e o primogênito desde sua união com Gyu Hyunwoo, que apesar de reconhecer o filho mais velho da amada como parte da família, se sentia satisfeito por esbanjar um bebê legítimo com os genes de ambos. Em seu coração, Yongsun sempre se considerou o segundo filho, isso era levado a sério tanto pelos irmãos que haveria de ter, quanto por sua mãe. Mas, apesar de não intencional, Hyunwoo acabava por jogar as expectativas impostas ao primogênito no garoto, principalmente quando seu irmão mais velho se revelou um anima ômega. Dongsun estava fadado a permanecer à margem da família, o que não parecia o incomodar diretamente, mas afetava Yongsun diretamente.

A expectativa se intensificou ainda mais quando comprovado que o jovem Yongsun era um alfa como pai, sendo motivo de comemoração entre a família. Yeorum, porém, sabia que o filho não tinha o menor interesse em suprir quaisquer desejos do pai, era um híbrido de alma livre desde a tenra idade. Em sua juventude, Hyunwoo apreciava esportes de alta performance e que fortalecesse sua virilidade, enquanto Yongsun se perdia nas fantasias que o teatro da escola lhe proporcionava, era mais atrativo manipular as emoções e fingir ser outra pessoa do que lutar ou correr. Não que ele não gostasse de uma boa exibição de força, na verdade, adorava. Mas poderia fazer isso sem problema algum no palco.

Seria mais fácil se fosse um beta ou ômega, desejou isso um milhão de vezes durante as discussões com o pai, que se intensificaram quando Yongsun se formou. Hyunwoo esperava convencê-lo em algum momento, mas, quanto mais insistia, mais Yongsun resistia, não lhe dando outra alternativa a não ser se mudar para bem longe para encontrar paz e autonomia em outro lugar. A ruptura abalou a todos, mas principalmente a Yeorum que não fazia questão da autonomia de suas crias, desejando os ter para sempre em seu ninho.

O jovem alfa viu uma boa oportunidade para recomeçar em Blossom Grove, mais especificamente em Haebaragi. Era confortável, repleto de pessoas e ares diferentes. Uma experiência boa, ele precisava dessa independência. Poderia correr atrás de seu sonho sem qualquer falatório. No final, tudo valeria a pena, contanto que ele pudesse estar no palco e nas telas.

Sun é apaixonado por teatro desde pequeno e sempre quis virar ator, estava sempre envolvido nas peças de teatro da escola, seja como ator ou contribuindo na produção.

Tem o costume de se gravar imitando cenas de seus filmes favoritos e fazendo comparações, tomando nota do que consegue captar.

Fez aulas de canto na adolescência para participar de um musical, acabando por se afeiçoar ao canto. Ele ainda se envolve em projetos musicais de tempos em tempos.

Sabe tocar saxofone e bateria, e, atualmente, está aprendendo a tocar ukulele.

Além de protetor dos irmãos, costumava tomar para si a responsabilidade de proteger os considerados “mais fracos” dos ataques de bullying na escola. Muitas de suas amizades acabaram surgindo dai (e inimizades também).

Não gosta de sua natureza instintiva devido à semelhança com seu pai, acredita piamente que a caçula da família será uma alpha bem melhor do que ele e talvez poderá suprir em seu pai aquilo que o próprio Yongsun deixou em falta.

Comprou uma motocicleta na época em que tentou adotar o estilo bad boy (por influência dos amigos), mas acabou dando para seu irmão mais velho. A caminhonete que havia ganhado de sua mãe era bem mais confortável e segura.

Sabe falar coreano, inglês e espanhol fluentemente.

synopsis: jay fell sick and all baby yeorum wants to do is dress up like a doctor and cure her daddy.

Jay laid on the couch, bundled up in blankets with a slight fever, eyes closed as he tried to rest. You were tidying up nearby when your daughter came bounding into the living room with her toy doctor kit in hand. 

She carefully set up her things beside him, slipping on her toy stethoscope. "Let me do your checkup, Appa!" she announced with a determined expression.

You noticed the playful interruption, as you gently tried to steer your daughter away. "Don't disturb Appa, baby. It's not the time to play. He needs to rest."

Yeorum shook her head stubbornly, adjusting the stethoscope around her neck. "I will take care of Appa! Don’t you worry!" she declared, her tiny hands already reaching out to pretend to take his pulse.

Jay couldn’t help but smile softly, even in his groggy state. He knew better than to argue with his daughter when she was on a mission.

"You'll get sick too, baby," you tried again, but your daughter was already too absorbed in her role.

"Eomma, shhh!" the little girl whispered, holding a finger to her lips. "Appa is sleeping."

"But I'm not even talking—" you started to say, but were quickly cut off by yeorum’s exaggerated "Shhh, quiet nowww!" 

Jay chuckled lightly at his daughter’s insistence. He closed his eyes, letting her "examine" him with her toy instruments. After a few minutes, she gasped as she leaned in close to his ear and whispered, "The cure for this sickness is… endless cuddles for Eomma and me!"

Jay's heart melted at the sweetness of her words. He pulled her into a gentle hug, despite feeling a bit weak. "Well, in that case, Doctor, I think I need a lot of treatment," he said, smiling as his daughter giggled and snuggled into him, her playful diagnosis bringing him a warmth no medicine could.
