FAVE CREATORS ART CHALLENGE: @ivashkovadrian edition
here goes number two of this series, my dearest daphnée!! absolute angel, the sweetest cupcake and stuffed with talent <3
i want to start with my fave set of yours this year, your eddard stark fancast one. because it's such a sexy fancast and i'm in love with the font you used. the coloring is sooo pretty as well!!!
next we have this gorgeous set. the blending is incredible, especially that first gif, so damn good. (god knows i always struggle with blending faces so i'm like even more in awe!!). great font choice, matches the vibe so well. and that always lovely coloring you have.
special mention to this set. god knows smaller gifsets can also be stunning and this is a perfect example. the coloring is on fucking point, magnificent!! the layout is so nice, the cropping on your gifs is incredible.
this vampire set?? omg. i'm a sucker for a deep rich red. i'm in love with all the different effects you used in this set. the first gif is amazing showstopping incredible. the fonts are wonderful. that 5th gif with the sorta glitch effect is SO NEAT. this set is making me want to watch this show, not gonna lie!
shoutout to this set for the sheer creativity of it. this book feel is so clever and cool. it's not the most complex set i guess but i still really like it!! because not complex does not mean it didn't take a lot of time to create. and i think you can really see how much effort you put in it.
another great set is this one imo. it's really funny, you really outdid yourself haha. the blending is stunning, the colors are beautiful and the font matches perfectly. (it still hurts and i'm still bitter about it but i can appreciate the art of it 😂)
and last but not least, my ultimate super fave love of my life and not just because it's yenralt lmao. in my opinion this has your best blending, the purple is of course so very THEM but also gorgeous. the thread thing adds so much, the fonts are soooo pretty. the scene choices!!! THE FEELINGS!!!!!!!! gahhhhh. truly magnificent gifset, i'm just staring at it in awe. i would frame it and put it in my room if i could.
there we go! it was hard to choose cause there's so many wonderful sets and i couldn't talk about all of them obviously. i noticed you didn't gif that much this year but i hope you'll feel more inspired in 2025. or not, and that's ok. as long as you're happy! you're an amazing person and ily no matter what 😊😘

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @scary-monsters <3 ty ily
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 6! One for The Witcher and 5 for JJBA.
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 6,498 <3 So few!!! For now <3
3. What fandoms do you write for? JJBA, One Piece and maybe a few others in future. Buuut mostly those two right now. Even if the OP shit is unreleased. And Resident Evil!!! Hopefully soon.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Well this is sorta easy with only 6 works in total. BUT. His Sweet Kiss (Geraskier fluff), Letters from a lover (compilation of short letters from characters), If I could be with you tonight (Gyro angst), Ties that Bind (Dio fic...... that I uhhh,,, haven't continued. Whoops) and Phantom Pains / Fleurs Captives (Diabeth angst) !!!
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes! I do try to! I don't get them very often, mostly because I'm only recently getting back onto writing platforms. But I do try to. I like people who enjoy my works to know the support is appreciated.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Definitely Phantom Pains. Out-of-the-blue Diabeth angst ending in grief and regret... I do love writing angst and I don't shy away from sad endings either! Although I do love a good happy end too <3
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Speaking of.... His Sweet Kiss is definitely the happiest one, at least so far. My lost-to-time fics from the Wattpad era weren't exactly happy, so I think a fluffy mess like HSK is the best right now.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Not yet. Yet. It'll happen eventually I'm sure.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I do! I have yet to publish any of it, though. Mostly because I am incredibly picky when it comes to smut, and by extension incredibly finicky with my own smutty works. As for what kind? Ah... a mix.
10. Do you write crossovers? I don't. I don't even think I'd necessarily consider it for anything other than a crackfic.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I have not! But I have had people copy my writing suspiciously closely.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? I have not, but I would be honoured if someone offered to, and I hope that at some point I'm fluent enough in another language to do so myself.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I have not. I'm semi-open to the idea of it, but also... kind of sounds stressful.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? Ahhhh..... Geraskier held my heart for a very long time. I'm also a YenRalt truther, though. I struggle a little to compute ships nowadays but I think Dinopants is really fun. and Satosugu.
15. What’s a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Oh god, the Dio fic I started and then never continued. It was meant to be a look into Diabeth over the years but I changed a lot of things since I started it, so I may have to scrap the whole thing and restart.
16. What are your writing strengths? Description. I love describing things and spaces and people more than anything and I think that love has lead to a lot of practice. I can be a little flowery at times but I don't particularly mind it. It's not for everyone, though.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Dialogue. I never know how much to have people say or not say. It's something I need to practice. On the flipside, sometimes I have characters say too much and then I completely neglect action. I just need to get better with it all-round.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I do it! And I respect other writers who have the balls to do it (and potentially cock it up). I tend to check, and double/triple check it.
19. First fandom you wrote for? If I'm being honest it was probably Skullduggery Pleasant, back before I even knew Fanfiction was a thing. And I read it out in front of my class at the time. I think I was about 10.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? Honestly? Every since I wrote Phantom Pains it's been my pride and joy. I really love my use of description and imagery and tone in that one specifically. I just really love it.
I don't have anyone to tag.... that Kat didn't already tag. So take this as a free ticket to join in should you wish to <3

"You look like shit." "I'm doing my best."
Songs used for this prompt:
“She’s Got You” and “Sure as Hell Not Jesus”, both by Cosmo Jarvis
---
The guy playing some tiny stringed instrument and singing into the bar’s beer-scented microphone is surprisingly cute. Geralt feels a pang of guilt when he takes a moment to listen to the lyrics that fill the room up to the rafters with heavenly sound:
“I don’t care what you do, She says she’s in love with you But I know the devil wears a thousand faces.”
Geralt orders himself a straight whiskey on the rocks and moves closer to the makeshift stage to better hear the words. It feels as if they’ve been crafted especially for him; especially for the situation he’s come to find himself in.
“So what you telling me, That you found love truly, But let go or you’ll forget the basics... “Like who’s your friends, you know, The ones you always told you trusted; But you’re a double agent.”
The singer has soft, feathery brown hair that sits against his forehead like something out of a 2007 emo calendar shoot and eyes the color of... well fuck me, Geralt thinks, those are the prettiest blue eyes I’ve ever seen in my life.
Whoever this guy is, he’s at least five years or so younger than Geralt, still with a babyish roundness to his face, but his hands move across the strings with the confidence of a seasoned performer. He’s been doing this awhile and he loves it. Geralt can tell by the way his voice wavers and pitches through the lyrics like he’s living every word for the very first time.
“Yes everybody tries, To run two perfect lives, But you’ve changed and boy I cannot take it.
“Minute by minute, A love sweet love, I don’t get why you haven’t had enough. Second by second, It wears you away and you’re gone.”
After this particular section the musician glances up into the crowd to make solid eye contact with Geralt. He plays a series of descending notes with perfect clarity and winks. The white-haired biker ducks his head and takes a sip of his drink, flinching at the strength but appreciative of the smoky notes nonetheless.
“When will you just learn she’s got you Wrapped round her little finger? When will you just learn she’s got you Wrapped round her little finger?”
He glances up again. Was this guy stalking him or what? The only reason he’d stopped in for a drink at all was because of Yen’s constant arguing over the past few days. He loved her, sure, but things weren’t really working out. Every tiny issue seemed to explode into a fight. Every possible way to talk things through went ignored because she wanted a chance to prove her independence and strength; what was the point of having a significant other if you constantly made them feel so horrifically insignificant?
Geralt often wondered why he’d gotten together with the gorgeous but impersonal spitfire in the first place. She wasn’t even really his type, all things considered; but he loves her, he knows.
The rest of the song finishes out and Geralt sits in his comfortable chair still staring into his half-finished glass of mostly melted ice and some whisky. He downs the rest of it in two gulps and heads back to the bar to order a glass of beer. He doesn’t want to remember what’s waiting for him at home. Doesn’t want to think about Yennefer for the rest of the evening; not with those blue eyes boring twin holes into the back of his leather jacket.
A new song starts up, soft but insistent. It demands his attention. The musician demands his attention without saying a single word to him directly. Geralt feels drawn to him and cannot fathom a reason why.
“Here I sit; If I didn't need nobody, I'd thank God for it, There'd be nothing that'd stop me getting on with it... “It'd be me and my brain And my pain And my shame...”
No but really, has this kid been following Geralt around with a notepad, jotting down every failure and misstep to write these songs? Geralt sits even closer to the stage this time, at a table so near to the performer that he could reach out and touch the handsome musician if he wanted to. He does want to, but he also knows that it would be incredibly strange and rude to do so without consent (or even introducing himself).
The man on stage just looks so soft. Soft and tender in a way that Yennefer refuses to be. Can’t be, maybe.
“Guess I am No big and strong Goliath, I'm a wandering man; And sometimes I get tired and I'm glad a hand Comes and slaps me and then It goes again. I guess you're my friend...”
Geralt listens to the rest of the song with a thoughtful look on his face; every word that spills from the singer’s gorgeously pink lips hits him in a new and different way. This is exactly what he’d needed. He gets out his phone and shoots the violet-eyed demon in his living room a quick text.
To: Yen
We need to talk tonight, but you should pack your shit just in case.
When the little ‘read’ notification popped up he nearly cried with relief. It felt amazing. It felt freeing. He felt like he might sleep for the first time in fucking weeks without her icy presence beside him in the bed, her back turned to his in a show of obstinate, personally enforced loneliness.
Geralt is a cuddler by nature and Yen always makes him feel so weak for needing to be touched. To be loved. She doesn’t need it so why should he? But he does. He really does.
“You're sure as hell not Jesus, but you're saving me! Thank you very much for putting faith in me, Reminding me a light was once so great to be. I'm glad I made a friend that doesn't pray for me!”
After the song is finished, the musician sets his instrument aside and wanders over to Geralt’s table, plopping himself across from the scowling man with incredible ease. He gestures vaguely at the bartender, who sets a strange purple drink in a martini glass before him almost immediately. He stirs it absentmindedly before smiling guilelessly up at Geralt, “You look like shit.”
His voice is somehow stronger when he’s not singing and Geralt loves it. He wants to listen to this man speak and sing and laugh all night; he doesn’t want to go home. He doesn’t want to face the future yet. He wants this moment to last forever. Instead of saying any of that, Geralt shoots the stranger a half-cocked smirk and says: “I’m doing my best.”
“That’s really all we can do. My name’s Jaskier, by the way.”
“Geralt.”
“Cool. Very old-fashioned. Like something out of a storybook,” the brunette, Jaskier, grins. “You like my music?”
“Yeah. I needed to hear it tonight, I think.”
“Always glad to be of service, Geralt.”

Hey, just saw the post about the boob holding and 🥺 yes! Just Geralt on his back, fucked out and soft (probably after Yen had at him for hours with all sorts of enchanted toys 👀) and massaging & kissing her breasts😳
(I absolutely love your work btw :) )
yenralt it is! They're so soft, I love them. Yen would make an amazing dom who is not always soft, but when she is it is amazing. Geralt has an obvs praise kink and she loves to call him good boy. Aftercare cuddles are very good with them.
.
Two different anons but you're killing me with the soft yenralt 🥺
And honestly them two together rn is so good to me. Like most of the time I can see Yen soft domming Geralt and yes his praise kink is unrivaled, like even just Yen praising how hes dressed up nice will get him flustered. But there are times when they need a little more, when Geralt feels like he needs to be punished and told what to do for a bit just so he can have the satisfaction of doing something right, and Yen will go a bit harder on Geralt because she feels like she needs the control, to know she has Geralt under her and with her and just reaffirming that she has him.
But yes Geralt just being soft and touching and clingy afterwards just wanting to hold and kiss Yen as a thank you. And the boob holding started off with Geralt sorta joking saying he wanted to feel her heart and if she has one and Yen just humours him and he keeps doing it and she keeps letting him to the point whenever he cuddles up to her she just brings his hand up closer to her boobs.
Also just thinking about them spooning, both are happy to be the little spoon at some point because Yen loves knowing Geralt is there with her and to just be held and loved, and Geralt too just to know someone doesn't see him as some sort of monster/killing machine and who loves him and is happy to take care of that softer part of him 🥺

I would argue that no matter how soft and romantic Geralt is in his squishy insides, he's still lived the reality of being a witcher for like, 100 years. We already know that Witchers have a fucked up conception of consent (that sorceress also seem to share, as they don't think twice about taking away bodily autonomy and manipulating others through magical influence), so honestly it seems perfectly on brand for geralt to consider sex as a need akin to any other random bodily function.
on that same line, i think the specific issue with essi was that he both felt identified in her, and also saw himself reflected in her in a rather unattractive light as in, to minimize it, he kept finding her feelings kinda cringey bc they were perceived pathetic and desperate, and he kept wondering if this is how yen felt when he himself was with her. And he also felt genuinely bad because he couldn't return essi's feelings. and yes, as you say, Geralt is not good with crying women. (or crying bards).
that said, i do also consider the triss thing to be cheating, influenced by magic or not, because it seemed to imply he like, knew it was influenced but didn't really care?
as for Geralt leaving! I'll admit i haven't read it in like, at least a couple years, but i think it was sorta implied that Geralt ran off on yen bc he had one of those bouts of self hatred and doubt and decided to run off before she could get tired of him and kick her out.
and oh god. TWN... I dunno how they could ruin something as good as Yenralt. Bc the thign they did with the djinn and taking away Yen's knowledge of it (in my opinion) DOES in fact put in question if their feelings are real or not! and what they did with yen and ciri doesn't help even more, like, how can Geralt trust/love her the way he did before? I love how netlix expanded on Yen's character but boy do i hate what they did to Yen T_T
hello! i loved your metas about the the witcher books and i would love to read your opinion about something that i never truly understood about geralt and his characterization (especially based on his love for yen, that is plain in canon).
In the lady of the lake after he finds out yennefer never betrayed him (and was tortured by villegfortz) geralt has sex with fringilla in the stables. Do you think it was in character for him? and what do you think could be the reason for that behavior? cause i have to say... i almost didnt finish the books after reading that passage cause it made me hate geralt a lot. thank you so much if you decide to answer this!
Hello! Thank you! I waited until I got to that scene on a re-read so I could really pay attention and give you my thoughts. And I just finished it, so here they are. (this ask is in reference to this post about Yenralt)
BOOK SPOILERS (obviously, by for anyone else reading)
So, Geralt obviously is crushed by Yen's perceived betrayal when he initially hooks up with Fringilla. He is explicitly bitter and cynical about love in several situations. We are supposed to see very clearly how devastated he is.
But why he has sex with her in the stables after he knows that Yen is imprisoned and being tortured? I don't know. When I first read it, I thought it was a scene similar to the one with Essi.
In the stables, Fringilla is standing there shrieking at him about how he has devastated her. He tends to buckle like wet cardboard under such circumstances out of discomfort and guilt.
You can also interpret it as something he does to make sure there is no chance that she suspects he is lying to her about Vilgefortz's location. He does beat her at her own game, which is quite satisfying.
But they do make a point afterwards to say that Geralt feels "wonderful." That he doesn't feel guilt. That sex clears his mind and gives him physical energy. That the only thing he regrets is that he isn't going to get to have sex again for a long time.
So, no matter why he does it, whether he did it out of guilt, calculating strategy, or whether he was just horny, he doesn't feel bad about it, on the contrary.
I think we're supposed to accept that he is just Like That. Many times, over and over, we are told that Geralt separates love and sex. That he has sex for any number of reason, but never out of love, except in the case of Yen. And in this case, that he feels totally fine having sex with Fringilla because it isn't real cheating, because it is just sex, not love. I don't think it's too much of a leap to interpret it that way, especially when you get to the scene later, when Yen asks him about it.
When Yen asks him if he cheated on her, he fully lies with no compunction saying he didn't cheat, "not once." She says she doesn't believe him, (she saw him cheat on her in her visions, so she already knew) so he corrects himself by saying, "I only ever thought about you, Yen." And that, she believes. So, that distinction matters to him. He seems to think it was just sex is a sufficient explanation.
As to whether it's in character, I don't know. I mean, he seems to angst about having sex with Essi, and he and Yen aren't even together! And he tells Triss she was a mistake, and turns her down later. So, he takes responsibility and seems to feel regret, even when he shouldn't. If he is anything, it is abundantly sensitive, and he takes too much responsibility for the feelings of others.
But the books do paint him as a bit of a fuckboi sometimes. For example, their first breakup, there is no indication that they are having any issues. Yet, he walks out on her while she's asleep without a word because, as he tells a dubious Nenneke, Yen is too clingy. She is utterly crushed. But hey, you're allowed to leave people. That's just life, right? HOWEVER, he doesn't speak to her or try to contact her for years, yet the next time he sees her on the dragon hunt, he tries to get in her pants straight away, without even acknowledging that he left her and that she might be upset or hurt.
Then when he goes to the Thanned ball with her, and he KNOWS she is surrounded by vipers who hate her and are absolutely gagging to see her humiliated in some way, he very still openly gapes at everyone's boobs in front of gods and country.
Also, even though I don't see the sex with Triss as consensual, since I feel like the presence of magic as an aid to 'seduce' him is inherently nonconsensual, I don't think the narrative agrees with me. It says he wanted warmth and to forget. It gives him that agency. (Though, full disclosure, I don't see it that way.) So, we are supposed to believe that he has already cheated on Yen with her best friend.
So, I don't know. I think it's possible to make the case for either. But it hurts, man. As a reader, we know how horrifically Yen is being tortured and assaulted. So, to see him be like...WELP THAT SEX WAS AWESOME GOOD JOB ALL AROUND, PEOPLE, I'M READY TO GO SAVE YEN...it's painful.
I know there are many people who would read this and feel compelled to be like YEAH BUT YEN DID XYZ TO HIM. But I don't see it as a contest where you pick sides or teams. They're fictional. It's a story. And the witcher saga is telling a very particular story. It is saying that life is inherently messy and people are all flawed, and there are no perfect relationships or fairy tale endings. There is always a thorn on the rose. But ahhh. It hurts.
And tbh, I hope they don't put it in TWN. Firstly for Fringilla's sake. I love interesting, dynamic female characters with motivations having nothing to do with men. And in the books, several powerful woman chars seemingly exist just to be obsessed with, then rejected by Geralt. I hate it. I want more for them. I want more for Fringilla. She is so publicly humiliated by how he fakes her out. (I think it's heavy handed to drive home the point that he doesn't love her, so we still root for him and Yen) And TWN has expanded Fringillas role (I know they also made her more evil, but that's a different topic) and hopefully they won’t have her be the scorned Geralt simp 😭
ALSO, since (IMHO) TWN hasn’t done Yenralt justice, I think putting their cheating in the story would ruin anything the audience feels for them as a couple. You have to take a lot more time than they have to establish the love if you want people to understand why folks stick around after cheating, and imo they haven't done that. So idk, I hope they just cut it out. I want them to finally have a real bonding arc, not more betrayals. Otherwise its just tedious to watch.
(See, I’m not always a book purist lol)
