Minjae was a little annoyed because he was obviously talking to you, so he just puts his arm around your shoulder and forcing a smile. "Sorry."

Junmin was scrolling through his phone, waiting for you to get out of the bathroom when he feels a tap on his shoulder. "Oh sorry, im taken." He would nod at the now frowning girl, before walking over to you when you walk out.

"No, I-" sumin was definitely tired of telling the girl no repeatedly, giving her multiple side eyes before walking out of the building and giving you a text. Ranting about the girl.

"You're really pretty." "Yeah, my girlfriend thinks so too." Jinsik would smile to himself, confused on why the girl was frowning and walking away. "Did i say something wrong..?"

Hyunwoo doesnt really know what to say so he just starts flexing his wallpaper and his phone case, proudly showing off his beautiful girl then apologizing

Chapter 7: Secrets in the Shadows

Tension gripped the members of Xikers as they retreated to one of the smaller drawing rooms. The ornate wallpaper and flickering candlelight gave the room an eerie glow, casting long shadows that seemed to dance in time with their rising anxieties. They sat in a loose circle, their eyes darting around the room as they tried to make sense of what had just happened.

Hyunwoo broke the silence. “So, we’re stuck here, in the middle of a storm, with a killer… and an unfinished ritual that might kill us if we don’t complete it?”

Sumin nodded, holding the old book of symbols they’d found. He traced his finger over one of the ancient runes, feeling its strange, almost pulsing energy. “If what Mr. Graves said is true, this ritual could unleash something dangerous if we don’t handle it right. And we still don’t even know what the ‘gateway’ it opens actually is.”

Yechan clenched his fists, his gaze steely. “Whether it’s a ritual or some supernatural nonsense, I think we’re in over our heads. We need to find out who killed Blackwood—and why.”

Hunter looked over at Sumin. “Do you think the book can tell us anything useful? Anything that could help us end the ritual without… finishing it?”

Sumin frowned, flipping through the pages slowly. “It’s hard to say. This text is ancient, and some of it is almost impossible to decipher. But…” His finger stopped on a page covered in strange illustrations of figures standing in a circle, surrounded by dark symbols.

“What is it?” Junghoon asked, leaning forward to get a closer look.

Sumin took a deep breath. “This part talks about a cleansing ritual—something that could ‘seal’ the energy without opening the gateway. But it requires the full group to be present and perform it with precise timing.”

“Then that’s what we’ll do,” Minjae said, his voice determined. “If it means stopping whatever Blackwood started, we have to try.”

They were interrupted by a sudden knock on the door. The members froze, tension tightening their muscles. The door creaked open, revealing Mr. Graves standing in the doorway, his face as impassive as ever.

“My apologies,” he said, stepping into the room. “I thought I’d remind you all of Mr. Blackwood’s arrangements for tonight’s event.” His eyes swept over the group, lingering just a bit longer than necessary. “He intended for you to perform here in the main hall at midnight.”

The announcement struck them like a bolt of lightning. Midnight? That seemed like an ominous time to hold a performance, especially given what they’d learned about the ritual.

Junghoon shook his head. “We’re not performing. Not tonight, not after what happened. Blackwood is dead, and we’re not playing a part in this ritual.”

Mr. Graves raised an eyebrow, as though expecting this response. “Mr. Blackwood was clear in his wishes. Your performance is essential—without it, the ritual cannot be completed.”

Hyunwoo stepped forward, his voice filled with defiance. “We don’t care about completing it. We’re here to find a way out of this nightmare, not to give you whatever power Blackwood was after.”

Mr. Graves smiled—a thin, unsettling smile. “Very well. But remember this: Mr. Blackwood had his reasons for bringing you here, and they go beyond mere performance. The ritual he intended is older and more binding than you might realize. Refusing to perform may have consequences you cannot foresee.”

Without another word, Mr. Graves turned and left the room, leaving them with the unsettling implication that refusing the ritual might be just as dangerous as completing it.

Seeun shivered. “What are we supposed to do now? If we perform, we might open this… gateway. But if we don’t, it sounds like something even worse might happen.”

Sumin looked back at the book, his mind racing. “The cleansing ritual is our only chance. If we time it right, we might be able to neutralize the energy before anything… crosses over.”

Yechan nodded. “Then that’s our plan. We stick together, and we do the cleansing ritual. We won’t let Blackwood’s plans go forward, not without a fight.”

The group agreed, each of them feeling a renewed sense of purpose. But the doubt lingered—one of them might be the killer, hiding behind a mask of friendship. It was impossible to know who they could truly trust.

Hunter put a hand on Sumin’s shoulder. “Let’s prepare. Midnight isn’t far off, and if we’re going to stop this ritual, we need to be ready.”

As the group stood and prepared to leave the drawing room, they couldn’t shake the feeling that they were being watched. The shadows seemed to shift and pulse around them, as if the mansion itself were alive, reacting to their every move.

The clock chimed in the distance, each toll echoing through the halls, counting down the minutes until midnight. And as the group ventured deeper into the mystery of Blackwood Manor, they knew the real test of their courage—and their unity—was only just beginning.
