2023 - My Year In Books and Posts
My Year In Books - Taking a look back at all of the titles I read in 2023. #books #lovereading #bookblogger #yearinbooks
As the year is now over, there is no better time to take a look back at the books I’ve read over the past twelve months. 184 in total – plus two beta reads – so I’m happy with that. Some are novellas, most are full length books. All were wonderful in their own special way. The images below are mostly in the order I read the books, although, as always with these things, it’s very easy to miss a…

Year in Books: 2022
@bookbloggershub @ibliophilert @lovingblogs @sincerelyEssie @blazedRTs #bookblog #yearinbooks #booktwitter #booktwt #yearinreview #bookblogger
The Year in Books went better than I expected. I’m not saying it was the only good thing that I did all year but it’s probably in the top five good things. I have included some graphs if you want to see what type of books I actually like to read. So in 2023, I’m going to do the Read Harder Challenge again. I participated in the Read Harder Challenge in 2022. However, I did not complete the…

I’m rather proud of myself for beating my reading goal by some 30 books! Pictured are the favorites I’ve managed to acquire so far, though I must single out the following books I’ve not bought physically yet for special mention: Chouette - Claire Oshetsky The Firekeeper’s Daughter- Angeline Boulley Nightbitch - Rachel Yoder Mexican Gothic - Silvia Moreno-Garcia The ones pictured: All’s Well - Mona Awad Crying in HMart - Michelle Zauner Such a Fun Age - Kiley Reid Bunny - Mona Awad Whose Story Is This? - Rebecca Solnit Freedom is a Constant Struggle - Angela Davis My Dark Vanessa - Kate Elizabeth Russell Ghost Wall - Sarah Moss Convenience Store Woman - Sayaka Murata The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and The Horse - Charlie Mackesy Kitchen - Banana Yoshimoto All the Light We Cannot See - Anthony Doerr Euphoria - Lily King The Seven Necessary Sins for Women and Girls- Mona Eltahawy Saint X - Alexis Schaitkin RedHanded - Suruthi Bala & Hannah Maguire I’m so grateful for the @libby.app for making books so much more accessible. If you have a library card, check them out and enjoy all the ebooks and audiobooks they’ll give you access to! The local library is an indispensable resource for so many reasons, and a library card has allowed me to enjoy the majority of the 68 books I read this year. #books #shelfie #yearinbooks #reading #favoritebooks #goodreads #library #bookaddict #bookstagram #bookrecommendations #readmorebooks #libraries #audiobooks #redhanded #angeladavis #monaeltahawy #monaawad #sayakamurata #kileyreid #bananayoshimoto #rebeccasolnit https://www.instagram.com/p/CYHOSn6ubJ7/?utm_medium=tumblr

Six Things Sunday/// 1. My #yearinbooks is up on the blog and listing my Top 17 reads of 2017. Go see, link in bio as always. 2. I read 210 books in total this year and I couldn't be happier. 3. My New Year's Eve plans are tame and chill as always. A home cooked meal of Tandoori Chicken and Veg. Biryani and movies with my family. 3. I am going into 2018 with happy thoughts and optimism. 4. 2017 was a decent-ish year for me. Not too shabby! 5. For the rest of the night, once the clock strikes 12- I want to set up my planners for 2018! 6. I am secretly so pleased that the New Year will start with a Monday. It makes my OCD heart very happy. . . #sixthingssunday #books #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagramindia #home #cornersofmyhome #decor #indianhomes #sunday #bookshelf #bookshelves #shelfie #bookblog #bookblogger #mumbai #vsco #vscocam #vscoindia #vscofilter #simplethings #littlethings

You can pretty directly tell how hectic and insane my year has been by the number of books I've been able to check off. I HAVE had a genuinely insane year, especially the past few months, but finishing only 27 books this year so far is and should be worth it. Ideally I'd love to read 50/year...that's only 3600 more books read by the time I turn 100! That's nothing in terms of knowledge. There's SO MUCH out there to learn and empathize and grow and travel with.
Thankfully, there were some great reads in this past year's small mix. Some fun and some important (though fun is also important for many reasons!). You can click the link to see all my books but I'll highlight a couple here.
------
1st was Reading with Patick by Michelle Kuo (thanks Hannah for the recommendation!). It's really rare that I give books 5 stars (there are entire years I go without giving out a single 5) but this one deserved it. It didn't have answers, but it didn't need answers. It makes you care, even for just 300 pages, about America's forgotten towns in the Delta - where Jim Crow laws and gun violence and really everything broken in America sticks while the rest of us move on. It's harrowing and important and reminds you that you're privileged and shows you how one single person can profoundly affect the life of another. READ THIS, bring it to your schools if you're a teacher, and pass it along to friends and family.
2nd was Factfulness by Hans Rosling. You probably saw this at some point if you read any news. Bill Gates thought it was important enough to give it out at his own expense to every single college grad in 2018 - and I understand why. It genuinely brings perspective back to how we think of the world. When we're asked simple questions about global trends we systematically get more answers wrong than a chimp choosing at random. This book explains why and why the world is in a much better state than we think.
3rd is the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. John sent me these! The books are fun, and dark, and have an amazing heroine. They're easy to read without feeling like (or being) YA novels. They have a world that's thoughtful enough to live in your head and not fall apart upon just a little scrutiny. It is a series that sweeps you away in it and you don't want to step out.
------
I got this done early this year! Happy 2019 and happy reading!!

Book number 28 in this #yearinbooks . Once upon a time I was used to share more of my readings here on IG. Once upon a time I didn't obsessed over time schedule, the right hashtags and all the little details that go into an Instagram post. Once upon a time I only wanted to share a moment. These past few days I'm reflecting more and more on this subject. I already have ready to go a blog post kind about these things. Can't wait to share it with you next week and read your thoughts.

Booooooks!!!! In 2016, I read pretty much the same amount of pages over 80 books. Clearly I read longer books this year! And I read more books and pages than last year, even though I feel like I read way less! The book I remember enjoying most is the Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck! #books #yearinbooks #yearinbooks2018 #bookstagram #goodreads #happynewyear https://www.instagram.com/p/BsLWQIMnb9t/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1rd064d520er8
