Summary: Nervous on his first day on the job as a cop, you opted to try and help Steve calm down and relax. However, while doing so, you ensured that you’d be in for one hell of a night when he got back from work.

Genre: Fluff, a little suggestive.

A/N: I don’t know what this is. Honestly, this isn’t my best work, but this has been sitting in my drafts for days and I figured I might as well post it. I hope it’s still somewhat enjoyable! And if anyone wants a part two with smut, I’d be willing to try and write one.

“I don’t think I can do this.”

Looking up from the cup of coffee in your hands, your eyes locked with those beautiful amber ones of your husband’s in the mirror. He was busy fiddling with the collar of his button up shirt, the jacket with the familiar “Hawkins PD” logo on it hanging open on his broad frame. It was chilly outside, the rain and wind making it necessary to wear one. His glasses were perched on the tip of his nose, his eyes nervously darting between you in the mirror and his outfit.

You placed the cup down on your nightstand and made your way over to Steve, wrapped your arms around him from behind and rested your chin on his shoulder. “You’ll do great, Stevie,” you reassured him, your tone soft and sincere.

Steve inhaled, before exhaling a shuddering breath. “I don’t know,” he began quietly. “I feel like I’m gonna throw up. Maybe even die.”

You hummed and pressed a kiss to his clothed shoulder. “Take a deep breath, okay?” After he followed your orders and took a few deep breaths, you continued. “You’ll be just fine, Steve. I know it. You’ve been working hard for this. Plus, if push comes to shove, you know Hopper will help you out in a heartbeat. He loves you.”

Steve managed to give you a small smile at that. “Sure. The ‘don’t fuck it up, Harrington’ and pat on the back he gave me at my graduation screams ‘I love you’.”

“It does if you’re Hopper,” you told him through a small chuckle, stepping back when he turned around to face you. Instead, you looped your arms around his neck, your husband’s hands going to rest on your hips. “But seriously. I know you’ve got this. You worked your ass off for it, and it shows. I promise you’ll be just fine. And hey, if anyone gives you trouble, I’m just a phone call away. I’ll come to your rescue.”

He chuckled at that. “My hero,” he said, before leaning in to give you a soft, tender kiss. His nose bumped against yours, and his glasses pressed against his face awkwardly, but he didn’t care. When he pulled away, he smiled at you lovingly.

You returned the smile. “So do you feel better?”

“A little bit,” he began, his thumbs tracing idle circles on your hips. “I still feel like m’gonna throw up, but at least I don’t feel like I’m gonna die.”

“That’s good,” you replied. “Well, not the throwing up part, but the not dying part is great. Who else is gonna give me such awesome back rubs if you’re gone?”

Steve laughed and rolled his eyes. “Nice.” He stepped back from your embrace and fiddled with the zipper of his jacket, his hands a little shaky and only being successfully zipped up because of your assistance. “Thanks.”

“Don’t mention it.” You glanced behind him at his car keys, before looking back at him. “Well, officer Harrington. All you need to complete this…” You pressed your hand against his chest and trailed it up and down slowly. “...very sexy look is a pair of handcuffs, don’t you think?”

“Yeah, and a gun,” he began, completely oblivious to the innuendo behind your words. “But I’ll get both of those down at the station. Hopper’s orders.”

You smiled and shook your head, stepping back from him and heading over to the nightstand to grab your coffee. “That’s not what I meant, but okay.”

Steve frowned. “What did you—” You nearly burst out laughing when a look of realization spread over his face. “Oh.”

You took a sip from your coffee and sat back down on the bed, smiling brightly. “Yeah.”

He scratched the back of his head, a small smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. “You into that kinda thing? I mean, you’ve never brought it up before.”

“Guess you’ll have to wait and see, huh?” You blinked up at him with a faux innocent look. “I promise I’ve been a good girl, officer.”

Steve inhaled sharply and closed his eyes. “You’re playin’ a dangerous game.” He opened his eyes and glanced down at his watch. “And I’ve gotta go soon.”

You hummed and got up from the bed again, placing the cup back where you found it and walked back over to Steve. You straightened out his uniform for him, before leaning up to press a kiss to his lips in greeting.

“Go,” you whispered, pecking the corner of his lips for good measure. “Go make the world a better place, officer Harrington.” You leaned in close to whisper in his ear. “We’ll test the whole handcuff thing when you get back.”

The look he sent your way as he slowly retreated backwards sent a shiver over your spine. You knew that if he didn’t have somewhere to be, the two of you wouldn’t leave the room that day. But alas, he had a job he needed to get to. You would have to wait until later that night to do anything about it.

You laughed lightly when Steve stopped and strode back over from the door to give you one final kiss, gently pushing him away when it got a little too heated for someone that needed to be out of the house in five minutes if they wanted to be on time. “Woah there, cowboy,” you halted him. “You gotta go.” Despite your words, he continued to press little kisses to your face, making you smile. “I’m serious. Go.”

Steve looked like a man in agony when he finally pulled away. “It’s your fault, you know?” he said. “You were the one that put that idea in my head. How am I supposed to focus after that?”

“With great effort,” you joked, before giving him a peck on the cheek and stepping back. “Now go. You don’t wanna be late on your first day.”

Your husband sighed deeply and nodded, adjusting his glasses on his nose. “Okay,” he began. He sent you a pointed look. “Until tonight then?”

You nodded. “Until tonight.”

Steve straightened his jacket, grabbed his keys from the dresser—keys he would have forgotten if he hadn’t decided to turn back and give you a kiss—and turned back to you. “I love you.”

You smiled at him softly. “I love you too.”

With that, Steve finally left the room. You could hear his footsteps retreating down the hall, and you sat back down on the bed. While you knew you had other things you needed to think about, there was only one thing on your mind:

You were in for one hell of a night.

Catching up with Jo had been everything you could’ve hoped for. When he reached out a few days ago after he arrived in your hometown for the off-season, you could only hope it would go well, but it’s been like nothing has changed at all, like he never left and you two never lost touch. He’d had you laughing and reminiscing the whole time. That all went away, though, when you watched his smile turn serious.

“Look, there’s an actual reason I asked you to come here with me today,” you could see the nerves swirling in his eyes, making a pit grow in your stomach.

“Oh, okay, um, what, uhh, what did you need?” 

“So, there’s something I need to tell you—actually, a few things. First of all, I met this girl in Toronto,” he smiles, but it doesn’t reach his eyes.

“That’s great, Joey,” you give him a tight smile, ignoring the way your heart clenches at the news.

“Yeah, so, um, we’ve been on a few dates, and I, uh, I think she’s waiting on me to make it, you know, official. But, uh, before I do, I really need to get this off my chest, and I need to know what you think about it,” he gives you a look, and you’re nervous all over again.

“Okay. What do you have for me?” 

“I think I’ve always been in love with you, and I’m not sure I can love anyone else until you turn me down,” he says it quickly, like it’s been fighting to come out of his mouth all day.

“What?” you were shocked, you never expected him to tell you anything like that.

“I’ve been in love with you since we were in middle school, but I was too scared to tell you before I left after I got drafted. I wanted you to know, but I chickened out. I didn’t think you’d feel the same. Now, I met this girl, and she’s really great. She is! She’s just not you. I can’t move things forward with her unless I know you don’t feel the same way. Either way, I still feel like you deserved to know. Especially if we’re gonna stay close after this, but I probably just ruined any chance of that. So, um, yeah,” he trails off at the end of his rant, unsure what else to say.

“I wish you would’ve told me sooner, Jo,” your face is still covered by a stunned expression.

“Yeah, so you wouldn’t be holding me back, right? I get it. It’s okay. Thank you for hearing me out. I’ll let you go now,” Joseph looks dejected, and you realize you could’ve been a bit clearer.

“No! I- I wish you would’ve told me sooner because we could’ve been together this whole time. I’ve been in love with you for as long as I can remember Joey,” you give him a reassuring smile, hoping that maybe now the two of you could be a little more than friends.

“Oh thank god,” he breathes out a sigh of relief, “Wait, so is this our first date?”

So I edited this post a few times since what I wanted to convey just couldn't come out, and then I stumbled across this explanation.

And all of this!

To continue with my own thoughts.

I'm not sure where the takes of Mel is more than Jayce's girlfriend or being reduced to just being at a man's side is coming from that is being spouted.... Meljay shippers know this?

People are annoyed and confused to see what was set up from S1 until S2 Act 1 and the sudden a disconnect of how we got to know the relationship was handled and their final conversation. Most of us would've been fine (I know I would) with the breakup if it wasn't so off and lackluster.

It didn't feel like Mel and Jayce, granted they went through the trenches both physically and mentally, but that understanding is only being applied to Jayce in how he behaves. Mel is just a bystander and has to take it, and she was never like that. Or did her time trapped by the BR just make her numb to everything because she feels so much and hasawakenied as a Mage and empath? If so, the writers did shit to make it clear, and we have to fill in gaps and explanations with headcanons.

Most importantly, Mel only gave and gave to others (professionally, non proffesional, platonical, familial, etc) but got nothing of the sort in return.... not even a hug, a hand squeeze, a how are you nada. That apology she got was, again, so offstandish. I didn't expect Jayce to cry out or be a lovey dovey anything, but he was more heated to scold her a beat. Mel barely got a word out there, too, to explain her side. She doesn't even fully understand her powers...

Also, in regards to interactions, why didn't we see a moment between her and Caitlin? When her mother died, Mel told Jayce to go to her, and had she seen how Ambessa did what she did, Mel would've shut things down, too. But we couldn't see the two of them bond over having lost their mothers?

No one in Piltover was concerned with their influential councilor who went missing for weeks/months? It would've been nice had we seen her and Shoola as the last ones standing or talk about the future of Piltover and the convo moving to Mel returning to Noxus and leaving it in the people's/their hands, but not a lick.

We just see her board a ship because she now has the weight of the Medarda line (who she needs to build from the ground up while the Black Rose is still out there and likely has to deal with more politics in Noxus that is more on the violent side) on her shoulders to a country she's been exiled for who knows how long.

Mel is getting to terms with her powers, her legacy, but even with her mother, Kino, Elora and now going back to a country she was exiled from, AND having to lead a faceless army. WHERE IS HER COMFORT!?!?! Who does she have to share all of this with above one minute.

It also doesn't help that people (yes, shippers mostly cause one scroll on your page they barely talk about Mel outside of ship. Not even about the popular 'she has a larger storyline' takes. Just invalidate why Meljay doesn't and never would work or was always doomed takes in response to OG shippers sharing their grievances.

There is weird and fake trolling in the meljay/mel tag when the same people never had something to say about her/ any of her relationship up until the finale and the last few Meljay scenes.

But now everyone can supposedly yap as some fake intellectual and shade others' people being annoyed, sad, and disappointed in the WAY it was written to THEM for their ship.

Meljay shippers literally had to create a niche tag because the main ones are being spammed with bad take after take and where Mel/Meljay is undermined while claiming it is all in balance in the end. Is that not insane?

Please, miss me with that. It is irritating and condescending.

Shippers in fandom love love and just a relationship in general. This is nothing new so why all these bad fate takes? They are allowed to vent their frustration on how the story for their ship is handled. Most of the same shippers also have an analysis of the characters' they ship and larger storyline that was set. Act 3 plot lines were squeezed in such a way with so many minutes left. I am still of the opinion that we should've gotten either 3 or 6 more episodes to tie all the stuff together properly since the writers themselves decided to introduce all these storylines. There was just a disconnect and OOC behavior in Meljay that wasn't expanded upon in a better way imo.

Dagny Headcanon: Career Day

Dagny has Career Day at the school that she attends, but River has never gone to one of them, due to a job always seeming to pop-up which either runs into or through that particular day. However, the students and teachers rarely question why her mother never comes to this event, because Dagny tells them that she's really busy in the 'disposal' business.

Serena was a hard worker. Of her siblings, she pushes herself the most often and with the most incredible intensity. Her training were constant, usually taking place late at night following a long day of insufferable lessons or outings with her forced betrothed. By all means she should rest, but she can't afford to if she was to break free of this hell hole. One such evening, she finds herself sparing again with Yuri, who had become a constant in her training due to her father's interference. However, he did serve some use as a sparing partner and a person for her to vent out her frustrations to. If he has to stick around, might as well have a purpose. After once again managing to pin him to a wall, with sweat dripping down her face, Serena suddenly feels her body turn off. Seems like her exhaustion from the long day and hours of training had finally caught up to her, and her body fell unconscious right onto the retainer's suited form. (Nobles To Yuri. Let's see Yuri Disney Fastplay LMFAO)

On most nights Yuri didn't mind this. He quite enjoyed playing this game with her, actually; one where he could watch her face twist in frustration everytime she failed to put him down in a timely manner. He'd often throw her a bone, allowing her some advantage before turning it around on her in some way, shape or form. Mostly in the verbal sense as she was fairly easy to irritate. Unfortunately, to him at least, in their dynamic it was the only power he currently held over her.

Like this, stuck in this...skin suit, he'd call it, she could overpower him in the physical sense. But Yuri had ways to remind her that his word, and by proxy, the word of her father was far stronger than her will to run him through and be done with this obligation of hers.

But it would seem that tonight even Yuri was reaching his limit though, as evident of his movements starting to lack the usual enthusiasm he reserved for these sessions. He almost didn't even try when Serena caught him slacking--

The force of his back hitting the wall so suddenly was more than enough to rattle this frail form of his, much to his annoyance. Compared to his kin though; Yuri was not one to complain needlessly.

❝ ...This has gone on quite long enough, hasn't it? ❞

As much as Yuri would looooooooove to spend all his nights having the girl chase him around with her teeth bared, he was beginning to become irate with it. It was the same song and dance each night now, and it was starting to bore him. And honestly, he'd rather be tending to his propagation operations. The manor was all sorts of dull and stuffy, and it was solely on him to spruce the place up a bit using his talents. At this rate all the plants he had painstakingly nurtured thus far would dry out and die off before Serena would go to bed.

How funny it truly was though, the tables turning as they were.

That's when all the power behind her hold all but vanished, and soon enough the only thing keeping him against the wall now was the weight of Serena's body collapsed against his own.

Oh...

....Huh.

He was starting to think it wasn't going to work-- The thought tickled him in such a way a light chuckle escaped him as he moved an arm under her own to keep her from slipping out from him and onto the floor. Wouldn't want to wake her up now.

Really, she should know better by now to think he'd play their game fairly.

Once he was sure he had secured his hold on her, he frees his other arm out from under her. He lifts a finger, revealing the perfectly manicured nail had been sharpened to a fine point. A quick glance and it was easy to miss how it had been the only one shaped in such a way, as if on purpose. It was then he brushes the loose strands of her ponytail aside to reveal the nape of her neck before lightly grazing the claw-like nail across her skin-- One of many thin scratches he had managed to tag her with over the course of their fight.

Dripping from the line he drew was a substance far too light in color to be blood... The beautiful pink hue was Yuri's own design, of course. A poison he had developed specifically for Serena and her recent problem.

She surely wouldn't take kindly to the idea of him poisoning her into taking a nap though, so he had kept it subtle by keeping the doses small and building it up over time.

And of course, this was by no means the poison he personally produced. He was still saving that one for the day Serena accepted his loyalty to her. This was just a simple sleep-aid derived from one of the many gardens he had helped to maintain in his time here. He's sure she'll come to appreciate the many things he brings to her table, but in the mean time he'll be sure to appreciate the silence the rest of the night should now bring.

After bestowing the last of his gift to his mistress he'll move to toss her unceremoniously up and over his shoulder. Had he not been her retainer this would make for a quite a scene, but considering his position and Serena's own nature he's sure no one would bother with them as he takes the long way back to her chambers. He had to check on all his precious little sprouts on the way, of course. It helped that the hour was so late though, fortunately for her there shouldn't be any in the halls to witness the scene anyway despite how entertaining it might've been.

❝ Take a nice long rest, princess. Your strikes were really rather weak today, I'll have to report as much to your father, you know? ❞ -

Ok that was definitely supposed to be the most fruity episode of Henry Danger, and that's a show I can barely seen as remotely heterosexual.
