a/n : hehehehehe. THIS IS CRAZY IDK WHAT I WAS DOING PLS IGNORE THE MISTAKES AND HOW EVERYTJING IS ALL OVER THE PLACE. anyways im back to unemployment heh. been playing minecraft and kinda ignoring this fic ugh 😒. but it’s here!! if you havent read the first part its here !!
the night still buzzes in your veins, the lingering high of the concert making you feel weightless. beside you, basil is still laughing about something, your footsteps unhurried as the two of you walk through the thinning crowd.
“man, that was crazy,” basil says, running a hand through his damp hair. “thanks for convincing me to join the band.”
you smirk, wiping off your sweat with a towel and leaving it hanging around your shoulders. “we needed someone useless enough to play bass.”
basil scoffs, shoving your shoulder. “you’re full of shit.”
you just laugh, the adrenaline still fading from your system, your limbs starting to feel heavier, more grounded. basil grins, triumphant, but your laughter softens, your expression shifting as something heavier settles in your chest. you hesitate, licking your lips.
“hey, uh,” you start, glancing at him. “i have to tell you something.”
basil slows his steps, sensing the change in tone. “what’s up?”
you inhale, exhale. flex your fingers. the words have been sitting at the back of your throat for too long, and if you don’t say them now, you don’t think you ever will.
“it’s about sophia.”
basil raises an eyebrow, waiting.
your throat tightens. “i like her.” then, quieter, more certain.more raw, “i’ve liked her for a long time.”
basil doesn’t react at first. just blinks at you, processing. then, after a long beat, a slow smirk spreads across his lips.
“so you finally grew a pair.”
you groan, tilting your head back. “bro, shut up.”
basil lets out a laugh, clapping you on the back. “nah, this is good. you should tell her. i mean, she’s been weird about you since you came.”
your brows furrow. “weird how?”
basil shrugs, but the glint in his eyes is unmistakable. “she’s been—”
“she’s been acting all… i don’t know, restless? like she’s here but not really here, y’know?”
you frown, gripping your water bottle tighter. “what do you mean?”
basil tilts his head, thinking. “like, okay. earlier, before the set, she was all quiet. which, first of all, unheard of.”
you huff a small laugh. yeah, that does sound weird. basil takes a sip of his drink before adding, “oh, and she keeps staring at you.”
your grip falters. “staring?”
basil smirks. “yeah, dude. like, eyes glued to you, totally zoned out, caught in the moment—i swear, it was embarrassing. Like damn, get a grip, soph.”
you feel warmth creep up your neck. “you’re messing with me.”
basil rolls his eyes. “yeah, because i have nothing better to do than gaslight you about my little sister having heart eyes for you.”
you click your tongue, shaking your head, but before you can respond, something catches your eye.
a few paces ahead, past the clusters of people drifting between food stalls and game booths, sophia stands beside alex at one of the carnival stands. the glow of the overhead bulbs bathes her in soft gold, illuminating the sharp lines of her profile. the delicate furrow of her brows, the subtle downturn of her lips.
she’s watching alex play one of those rigged bottle toss games, her arms crossed tightly over her chest, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. if she’s trying to feign interest, she’s not doing a very good job. alex is losing. badly.
basil lets out a sharp laugh. “he sucks.”
your jaw locks. the response catches in your throat, thick and bitter, before you manage a curt, “yeah.”
basil glances at you then, catching something in your tone, something restrained. he doesn’t push, but there’s a knowing glint in his eyes when he tilts his head toward the booth. “c’mon, let’s go say hi.”
you exhale through your nose, set your shoulders, and follow him.
you weave through the thinning crowd, the smell of fried dough and butter lingering in the cool night air. as you approach, sophia spots you first. her gaze flickers toward you in a sharp, fleeting moment, like a reflex. but instead of holding it, she drops her eyes just as quickly, snapping back to alex.
that’s new.
you can’t remember the last time sophia actively avoided looking at you.
not that you have time to dwell on it, because alex lets out a groan as another ball bounces uselessly off the rim. “dude, this game is rigged,” he mutters, dragging a hand down his face.
sophia doesn’t even pretend to disagree. “or you just have no hand-eye coordination,” she says, dry and unimpressed.
“nah, it’s definitely rigged.”
basil snorts. “what, still blaming the game for your lack of talent?”
alex turns at that, grinning when he sees you. “hey, man, this shit’s impossible.”
you barely hear him. you’re still watching sophia. still waiting for her to acknowledge you. but she only nudges alex’s arm, shifting slightly away. “just let it go, dude.”
alex scoffs. “nah, watch, i got this.” he tosses another ball. it ricochets off the rim and lands unceremoniously on the ground.
your lips curl, sharp and mocking. “wow. impressive.”
alex shoots you a glare. “you think you can do better?”
you step forward, tugging a couple of bills from your pocket and handing them to the vendor. “yeah, actually.”
it’s instant. sophia’s head snaps toward you, like the words have struck something in her.
you don’t acknowledge it. don’t acknowledge her. instead, you roll your shoulders back, picking up a ball, your fingers curling around the smooth surface. your movements are casual, practiced, but beneath the surface, something burns.
your jaw is still clenched from earlier. your mind still reeling from basil’s words, from the way sophia hasn’t met your eyes, from the way she stands beside alex, arms crossed like she’s closing herself off. you’ve spent too long standing still, too long waiting, too long biting your tongue. so you aim, exhale slow, and throw.
the ball hits the rim, bounces once, then sinks straight through the bottles.
the vendor whistles. “damn, nice shot.”
alex groans, dragging a hand through his hair. “what the hell.”
basil bursts into laughter, clapping alex on the back. “ just admit you suck.”
you ignore them, your focus fixed on the row of prizes dangling from the booth. you glance at sophia then, for the first time really looking at her since you walked up.
“which one?” you ask, your voice measured, careful. sophia hesitates.
for a fleeting second, something wavers in her expression. a flicker of uncertainty, of something almost vulnerable, before she forces it away.
she licks her lips, eyes darting to the stuffed animals. “that one, i guess.” she points at a small blue penguin.
the vendor grabs it and hands it to you. you turn, holding it out. sophia stares at the toy, her grip on her own arms tightening slightly. then, slowly, she reaches out.
your fingers brush. you feel it. warm and brief, a barely-there spark. but sophia pulls away.
you don’t.
sophia doesn’t know why she hesitated. it’s just a stuffed animal. it shouldn’t mean anything. but when you look at her like that. patient, expectant, like you care. her chest tightens.
her fingers curl around the penguin, but her hands feel unsteady. she pulls away too quickly, needing distance, but it doesn’t help. her heart is still racing.
she doesn’t know why she feels this way. or maybe she does, and she’s just trying too hard to ignore it.
she clutches the penguin close to her chest, her fingers pressing into the soft fabric like it’s something solid to hold onto.
then alex laughs. “damn, i should’ve let you play first.”
your lips twitch. “you should’ve.”
basil coughs, barely covering his amusement.
“well, it’s fine,” alex says, tossing an arm around sophia’s shoulders. “i still got the girl, so i win in the end, right?”
you freeze.
it’s immediate. the way your whole body tenses, your breath catching in your throat. the way the warmth in your veins turns to ice, the words landing in your chest like a punch you hadn’t braced for.
your fingers curl into your palms, nails digging into skin. sophia stiffens under alex’s arm. you see it. feel it.
then, finally, sophia meets your gaze.
your jaw clenches. you don’t say anything. sophia’s throat bobs. she exhales sharply, then mutters, “we’re just dating. it’s not official.” she says as she pushes alex’s hand off of her.
the words hang in the air like a frayed thread, fragile and stretching too thin. alex frowns, blinking. “uh, isn’t that the same thing?”
“not really.”
“wow, congrats,” you try to say, forcing the words past the knot in your throat. your voice tried to stay steady, to sound like you mean it. but it comes out flat, hollow. basil looks at you sharply, his gaze bouncing between you and the couple. he wants to punch alex. you can see it in the way his jaw clenches. but more than that, he wants to comfort you.
before he can do either, you force out a quick excuse. “um—i gotta go tinkle. you know… that set was crazy.”
sophia shifts at your comment. her eyes flick to you, searching, and you know she can tell something’s wrong.
before basil can stop you, you’re already turning away, moving fast.
the moment you’re out of sight, the pressure behind your eyes becomes unbearable. the world blurs at the edges, lights smearing into streaks, voices muffled against the pounding in your chest.
you were too slow to say anything. too slow to brave it. too slow to tell her how you felt before someone else took the chance.
you swallow hard, blinking against the tears, but they keep coming, hot and relentless.
before you started blaming yourself. a body collided with you. “oh sorry- yn?” it was lara. she was already looking at you with concern written all over her face. “lets sit down.”
she grabbed your wrists before you can even tell her to go away. lara doesn’t give you a choice. her grip is firm but not forceful, her pace steady as she leads you away from the crowds, away from the suffocating buzz of the carnival. you don’t fight it. you don’t have the energy to.
your chest feels too tight, your throat raw from holding back everything you don’t have the strength to say.
lara doesn’t speak right away. she waits until you’re both settled on a bench near the edge of the boardwalk overlooking the sea, where the noise is distant enough to feel bearable. only then does she turn to you, eyes scanning your face, piecing things together without needing to ask.
for a moment it was quiet. the sound of waves could only be heard between the two of you. “stay here” said lara breaking the calming silence. you didn’t react. your mind was out of it.
after 5 minutes, lara came back with two ice cream cones. lara hands you one of the cones without a word, pressing the cold treat into your palm. no hesitation, no questioning. just an unspoken understanding.
you glance down at it, then back at her. “really?”
she shrugs, already taking a bite of her own. “figured you needed something to shut your brain up.”
you let out a quiet, breathy laugh, the first genuine one in what feels like hours. the weight in your chest doesn’t disappear, but it shifts, just enough. “thanks.”
lara doesn’t acknowledge it, just nudges your knee with hers and leans back against the bench, eyes locked on the dark horizon.
you both sit there, letting the silence stretch. it isn’t awkward, isn’t heavy. it just is. the waves crash against the shore, the distant sounds of the carnival hum in the background, and for the first time tonight, you feel like you can breathe.
you don’t say it out loud, but you’re grateful. not just for the ice cream, but for lara’s presence, for the way she doesn’t press for answers you aren’t ready to give.
after a few minutes, she exhales sharply, tilting her head. “i’m just saying, if you had to lose out to someone, alex is a really pathetic choice.”
you snort, shaking your head. “dude.”
“what? he’s a douche.”
you roll your eyes, but the corner of your mouth twitches. “apparently, that’s not a dealbreaker.”
lara hums, feigning deep thought. “tragic.”
“mhm.”
the night air is cool against your skin, the scent of salt and sugar lingering in the breeze. your ice cream is starting to drip down your fingers, but wiping it away feels like too much effort.
you were enjoying your ice cream until the silence was broken once again when someone called your name.
“sophia?” lara mutters, barely tilting her head.
you freeze for a split second before turning around.
sophia is standing a few feet away, her expression shifting the moment your eyes meet. for a brief moment, she looks relieved. almost pleased. to have found you sitting alone. her shoulders loosen slightly, the tension in her stance easing. but then she sees lara.
her expression falters. the subtle warmth in her eyes cools, replaced by something sharper, something guarded. she presses her lips together, crossing her arms over her chest, posture stiffening like she’s bracing for something.
you don’t say anything. just wait.
“we’re leaving,” she finally says, voice even but not as casual as she probably wants it to be. “come on.”
normally, you would’ve stood up immediately, tossed the rest of your ice cream and followed without hesitation. but you don’t.
sophia notices.
her grip tightens around her sleeves as she watches you stay seated, licking the last bit of your ice cream off your fingers like you’re in no rush at all. she shifts on her feet, waiting for the inevitable moment when you’ll sigh, stand, and trail after her like you always do.
but you don’t move.
she exhales through her nose, impatient. “yn.”
still, nothing.
something twists uncomfortably in her stomach. this is different. this isn’t how things go. you’re supposed to come with her. you’re supposed to listen, even when she doesn’t ask nicely.
she turns on her heel, expecting your footsteps to follow.
but they don’t.
sophia stops after a few steps, a cold prickle running down her spine. her fingers curl against her arms as she turns back around, trying not to look as thrown off as she feels.
she watches as you exhale, finally shifting forward. you stretch a little, wiping your hands against your jeans before patting lara’s shoulder, murmuring something too low to hear.
and then you walk right past her.
sophia barely steps aside in time, the air between you charged with something heavy, something unfamiliar.
no glance. no acknowledgment.
you just keep moving, heading toward the set to gather your things.
sophia stares after you, the unease in her chest settling like a weight she can’t shake off. she doesn’t understand this feeling clawing at her ribs, the frustration bubbling beneath her skin. it’s ridiculous. you were just sitting with lara. just eating ice cream. there’s nothing wrong with that.
and yet, she hates the way it makes her feel.
Tumblr media
on the ride home, the car is quieter than usual. not tense, not awkward. just quiet. the kind that feels intentional. like no one wants to be the first to break it.
you sit by the window, gaze locked on the passing streetlights, the glow casting shifting patterns across your face. your hands rest in your lap, fingers curled loosely around the fabric of your jeans. you haven’t spoken since getting in the car, and you don’t plan to.
sophia sits beside you, her arms crossed, legs tucked up slightly like she’s trying to make herself smaller. she keeps sneaking glances at you, waiting for something. maybe for you to turn and meet her eyes. maybe for you to say something, anything, like you always do.
but you don’t.
your silence feels different tonight. it’s not the comfortable kind, not the easy kind. it’s heavy, distant. like you’re not physically here and it’s bothering her more than it should.
when the car reaches sophia’s house, you step out without a word, moving straight to the trunk to grab some of the equipment. basil does the same, shooting you a glance, but he doesn’t say anything.
sophia follows, watching as you walk ahead of her, shoulders tense in a way that’s so unlike you. usually, you’d be the one cracking a joke about how you always end up carrying the heaviest stuff or making some offhand comment about how you basically live here at this point. but tonight, you’re just quiet.
it’s throwing her off.
inside, you set the last bag down in the usual spot near the couch. basil disappears into the kitchen, giving you two some space—not that you seem to notice. you just straighten up, dust your hands off, and let out a quiet exhale.
“alright, i’m heading out.”
sophia blinks. “oh. you’re not staying?” usually you’d stay for awhile. chatting with basil , play with their dogs or even annoying sophia. but today.
“nah, i’m tired.”
she waits for it. the usual—maybe a teasing remark, a lazy grin, even a light shove to her shoulder. but it doesn’t come.
instead, you just nod at basil, say a quick “see you” to him, and then. nothing. no glance in her direction, no hug, no playful ruffling of her hair that you know she pretends to hate. your eyes really do look tired.
just silence.
her stomach twists.
she stands there, watching as you walk out the door without looking back. something about it makes her chest feel tight, an odd pressure settling in like she’s missing something. like she’s done something wrong.
before she even realizes it, she’s following you.
by the time she steps onto the driveway, you’re already in the driver’s seat, hands gripping the wheel like you can’t wait to leave. her stomach twists. she hesitates for a second, fingers tightening around the sleeves of her hoodie, before raising a hand and tapping lightly on your window.
you roll it down, and suddenly, you’re looking at her. really looking at her.
it makes her nervous.
up close, she can see it clearly—the exhaustion in your face, the dull weight in your eyes. you look drained, like you’ve been running on empty all night, and she wonders why she didn’t notice it sooner.
“uh—your set,” she starts, shifting her weight, suddenly unsure of what to say. “it was really good today. i didn’t get to tell you earlier.”
your lips twitch, barely forming a smile, but it doesn’t reach your eyes. “thanks.”
sophia doesn’t like this. the quiet. the distance. the way you feel just out of reach. she knows you would’ve been teasing her. for complimenting you. but nothing. not even a grin from you.
she lingers, arms crossed over her chest like it’ll help ease the discomfort pressing into her ribs. typically, you’d stay. even if you were tired, you’d still crash on their couch for a while, maybe steal something from the fridge before heading home. but tonight, you’re already leaving.
“see you next week, soph.”
she blinks. “next week? you’re not coming tomorrow?”
you shake your head. “can’t. got stuff to do.”
the answer is too easy.
she shifts again, fingers gripping her sleeve. “you sure? it’s still early. you could—” she stops herself, biting the inside of her cheek. she doesn’t know what she’s asking for. doesn’t know why she suddenly doesn’t want you to go.
but you just sigh, rubbing a hand over your face before nodding. “sorry soph. im busy— i just— i dont think im feeling well.” you stopped, eyes meeting sophias.
and for a second, she forgets what she was going to say. sophia swallows. her voice catches in her throat.
sophia doesn’t say anything. she just watches as you roll the window back up, put the car in reverse, and pull away.
and she stands there long after your tail lights disappear, arms wrapped around herself, wondering why it suddenly feels like she just let something important slip right through her fingers.
Tumblr media
the following week has been dull for sophia. not because she doesn’t have anything to do—she does, as her schedule is packed with rehearsals, school, and the usual chaos of balancing everything at once. but because she rarely sees you anymore.
and when she does, it’s different.
whenever she walks into a room and you’re there—laughing at something her brother said, leaning back on the couch like you belong—her chest tightens in something close to relief. but before she can even think about joining, you’re making some excuse, getting up, slipping away before she can say anything.
it’s deliberate. she knows it is.
but it’s the worst when she sees you with lara.
the two of you have been close lately, too close for her liking. lara leans into your space, nudges your arm, laughs at something only the two of you understand. it makes sophia’s skin itch, her fingers twitch like she wants to tear something apart.
(she doesn’t know why it gets to her so much.)
at least here, during tutoring, you can’t run.
you’re sitting across from her, flipping through the calculus textbook with that familiar, unreadable look on your face. you’ve been quieter than usual, more distant, but your explanations are as sharp as ever, walking her through every problem with the same level of patience that makes her want to watch you forever.
she wonders if you know how amazing you are at this. not just at math, but at explaining things, at making the hardest problems feel manageable. she watches the way your fingers tap absently against the paper, the way your brows furrow when you’re thinking. she wants to tell you.
she doesn’t.
instead, she taps her pencil against the desk, glancing at you. “hey, the silver screen is this friday. you wanna come?”
you pause, glancing up from the textbook. “alex won’t go with you?” the words come out before you can stop them, and you hate how they sound. detached. like it doesn’t sting to picture her with him.
you know exactly what the silver screen is. an annual event the school organizes, setting up a massive projector on the football field, fairy lights strung up around the bleachers, blankets spread across the grass. students bring snacks, some come in groups, others… as couples.
you remember your sister talking about it when you were younger, how she met her husband there, how it was one of those nights that stuck with her forever. she told you it had this kind of magic to it. something meant for the kind of people who find love in stolen glances and shared laughter under the open sky.
but the idea of sophia in that setting—with alex—makes your chest tighten.
she shifts in her seat, her pencil tapping against her notebook. “he’s going camping or something.” she shrugs, but you notice the way she’s watching you closely, like she’s waiting for something. “anyway, it’s not that serious. just a movie night.”
just a movie night.
you swallow, forcing your gaze back down to the calculus problem in front of you, but the numbers blur together. you should say no. you should tell her you’re busy, give her some excuse, avoid the way this entire conversation makes you feel.
sophia feels like she’s standing on the edge of something dangerous, something she doesn’t quite understand. she should drop it. should let yn change the subject, move on like this was just some offhand suggestion.
but then she speaks again, quieter this time. “you don’t have to, obviously. just thought it’d be nice.”
and that, more than anything. makes it impossible to refuse.
the silence stretches, and sophia suddenly regrets every decision she’s made in the last two minutes.
“yeah,” you murmur, gripping your pen a little tighter. “i’ll think about it.”
relief rushes through sophia so fast it almost makes her lightheaded. she nods, trying not to seem too eager, forcing herself to focus on her notes. but her heart is still racing.
she doesn’t know if this is a good idea.
you have been avoiding her lately, and sophia doesn’t know why. she sees it in the way you always leave the moment she shows up, how you makes excuses to be anywhere else. even during tutoring, she feels the shift.
and maybe that’s why sophia is scared. because for the first time in weeks, she’s found an excuse to keep you close.
sophia doesn’t push. she just nods, a small, almost satisfied expression crossing her face before she drops her attention back to her notes.
she’ll deal with that later. right now, all that matters is that you haven’t said no.
Tumblr media
sophia doesn’t even like flowers that much.
but alex had shown up out of nowhere, smiling as she handed over a single baby’s breath, saying something about how she was sorry that sophia missed the silver screen.
sophia barely registered the words. she just held the flower between her fingers, nodding along, trying not to overthink how wrong it felt to be standing here, listening to alex talk when all she could think about was you.
and then alex was gone.
sophia barely had time to process it before you appeared, stepping up beside her with that unreadable look in your eyes.
“nice flower,” you said, gaze flickering down to the small bloom in her hand.
sophia didn’t even get the chance to respond before you plucked it from her fingers, twirling it once between your own as you started walking. instinctively, she followed. there was no hesitation, no second thought—just the pull of you leading the way, and sophia falling into step beside you.
as soon as you start walking, you begin talking.
something about your day, something about how your morning was a disaster because you spilled coffee on your notes, and then how lara had the audacity to laugh instead of help. something about that makes her twitch. you’re still talking, completely unaware of the way sophia’s stomach twists when you bring up lara.
“—and then lara said i need to get a life because i spent my saturday fixing my guitar instead of going out, but she was literally—”
sophia isn’t sure why she feels weird about this. you and lara have always been friends. but hearing just how much time you’ve been spending together lately makes something uncomfortable settle in her chest.
before she can stop herself, the words leave her mouth. “lara likes someone from the girls' football team.”
you pause mid-step, blinking at her. “okay?” okay?? what was she even expecting you to say?
she has no idea why she said that. no idea why she felt the need to say anything. you stare at her for a second longer, like you’re trying to figure out if there’s a point to what she just blurted out. and maybe there is. maybe she just wants you to stop bringing her up so casually when it’s already so obvious that lara gets more of your time than she does. but you don’t push. you just shrug, muttering something about how you hope lara finally gets her love life sorted out, before continuing whatever you were saying earlier. sophia barely hears it.
her face feels hot. her hands are clammy. she keeps her gaze forward, hoping you won’t notice. she needs to get a grip.
you keep talking like nothing happened, like sophia didn’t just embarrass herself for no reason.
her face is burning. she can still hear her own voice echoing in her head, the absolute stupidity of it making her want to crawl into her locker and never come out. why did she say that? why did she care?
sophia nods along, half-listening.
she wants to focus on your words, she really does, but all she can think about is the fact that you’re talking to her again.
after a week of cold shoulders and passing glances that never quite landed, you’re walking beside her like nothing happened. you’re initiating the conversation, keeping the space between you light and easy. and god, she missed this. she missed you.
she barely even notices when you toss the flower into the trash without a second thought. she’s too busy watching the way you move, the way your hands gesture when you talk, the way your voice dips when you complain about lara. it’s familiar and new all at once, and she hates how much she’s hanging onto every word, desperate to make up for the days you kept your distance.
before she knows it, you’re outside her classroom. she stops, blinking up at you as you roll your shoulders back like you’re bracing yourself.
“i’ll go to the silver screen with you.”
sophia’s breath catches.
“i’ll pick you up at six.”
she barely processes the words before you’re already stepping away, disappearing down the hall.
her hands are ice cold, but her face feels like it’s on fire.the bell rings, but she doesn’t move. she barely hears it over the way her pulse roars in her ears. students push past her, some rushing into the classroom, others lingering in the hallway, but sophia doesn’t register any of it. she’s stuck—feet planted, hands gripping the hem of her sweater, head tilted slightly down as her hair falls over her burning face.
her lips twitch, and then, before she can stop it, a smile breaks through. and suddenly, her whole chest feels like it’s about to burst.
fireworks. that’s what it feels like. like someone just lit a match inside her, and now she’s sparking. she barely remembers how to breathe.
someone bumps into her shoulder on their way into class, snapping her out of it. she blinks rapidly, heart still hammering against her ribs, and forces her feet to move. she slips inside, head ducked low, smile still tugging at her lips, fingers twitching at her sides.
she doesn’t think she’s going to hear a single thing the teachers say today.
Tumblr media
sophia had to stay back until four for cheer practice. it was now 3:57.
she stepped out of the locker room, still adjusting the strap of her gym bag, cheeks flushed from the last half hour of cheer practice. she was let off early for once. her coach had other meetings to get to, and sophia didn’t mind. in fact, she was almost relieved. because it meant she got to see you. not for tutoring. just… to be with you. and even if it was just a few minutes walking to your car and getting driven home by you, it was something she’d been looking forward to since the morning.
she hummed quietly as she walked down the quiet hallway, shoes squeaking softly against the floor. it was nice to finally have a moment where she didn’t feel like she had to run into alex or sit through another lunch of watching you laugh at something lara said.
when she passed the music room, she slowed down. you said you’d be there, working on something for the club. just a quick touch-up for an upcoming assembly or whatever. she thought she’d check on you, see if you were ready to leave.
but then she saw you.
you were there, standing by the far piano, eyes crinkling in that way that always made sophia’s chest ache. and beside you was lara. laughing at something, close enough that it made sophia’s stomach twist. your shoulder brushed lara’s when you leaned down to show her something on the sheet music.
sophia couldn’t move.
she should’ve just gone outside. waited like a normal person. but instead, she was frozen there, just outside the open doorway, like some kind of idiot. watching two of her friends laugh over a song she didn’t care about, in a space that suddenly felt like it didn’t belong to her.
and she hated that it made her mad.
lara had only known you for what, a few months? but somehow she had you laughing, smiling, letting her in. meanwhile, you could barely look sophia in the eye last week. she was your date to the silver screen, and yet she didn’t feel like she meant anything to you.
so she turned around. quietly, without saying a word.
sophia walked to the front of the school and sat on the stairs, bag at her feet. the late afternoon sun warmed the concrete, but she barely noticed it. her thoughts were louder than everything else.
why did it feel like this? why did her chest feel tight every time she saw you with lara? why did she hate that lara could make you laugh so easily? and more than anything—why did she care so much?
she already had alex, didn’t she?
except alex didn’t make her feel like this. he never did.
she buried her face in her hands for a second, trying to breathe past the knot in her chest. this was stupid. she had no reason to be jealous. you weren’t even hers.
but then she heard the door open behind her.
your voice came next. soft, almost surprised. “soph? what are you doing out here?”
sophia looked up, blinking fast. the sun caught on your hair, and you squinted slightly against the light as you stepped down toward her. and just like that, the irritation and the jealousy faded into something warmer. something she hated to name.
“you ready to go?” you asked, adjusting your bag.
sophia nodded, getting up quickly and brushing off the back of her skirt. “yeah.”
you didn’t mention lara. didn’t say anything about what she might’ve seen through that window. and maybe sophia was grateful for that.
but as you started walking beside her toward the parking lot, close enough for your arm to brush hers, sophia realized something quietly. no matter how much time passed, or who else was around, being next to you always felt like something she didn’t want to lose.
she had to do something. but as for now, she could not wait until silver screen to spend time with you.
Tumblr media
it was finally friday. the day of the silver screen.
yesterday’s tutoring session was strange. sophia wasn’t herself—distant, distracted. her eyes kept drifting away from the textbook, and her responses were slower than usual. she was zoning out, completely out of it. and no matter how many times you asked if something was wrong, she just shook her head and gave you a half-smile.
you hated how fast your mind jumped to alex. hated how easy it was to assume he had something to do with it. maybe they argued. maybe he did something stupid again. maybe sophia was finally tired of pretending to be okay. or maybe—maybe it had nothing to do with alex at all, and you were just projecting.
still, the silence between you two yesterday stuck to you more than it should’ve. especially with how much you were looking forward to seeing her again today.
you were leaning against the wall outside your second period class when lara walked up to you, balancing her iced coffee in one hand and her phone in the other.
“you good?” she asked, eyes scanning your face. “you look like someone broke your guitar.”
you scoffed. “just tired.”
lara raised an eyebrow. “tired of watching sophia and alex exist, or just tired in general?”
you didn’t answer. instead, you looked down, kicking lightly at the floor. the way she said it so casually, like she already knew exactly what was bothering you, made your stomach twist.
“look,” lara said, taking a sip of her drink, “i’m not gonna give you the whole ‘move on’ speech. but maybe… take a chance?” you glanced at her, confused. “on what?”
“on anyone,” she said simply. “any girl who even breathes in your direction. flirt back. talk first. give someone else a shot.”
you laughed, dry and a little hollow. “that’d be you, then.” lara snorted. “please. you’re attractive, but you’re not my type.” you clutched your chest dramatically. “ouch.”
“you’ll live,” she teased. “just… stop shutting people out. you never know who might surprise you. maybe tonight, some cute girl’s gonna walk up to you under the lights and change everything.” you rolled your eyes but smiled, soft and small. “we’ll see.”
“we will see,” lara said, and just as she was about to continue, someone appeared beside you both.
“hi, guys!”
you turned. sophia.
she was smiling too brightly. her voice slightly too chipper to be casual. her eyes flickered between you and lara, and for a second, she looked like she was regretting even approaching. but lara, oblivious or simply unbothered, grinned.
“just the person i needed to see,” lara said. “music club needs extra help for the orchestra set-up on sunday.”
sophia blinked. “orchestra?”
“yeah,” lara nodded. “stage layout, equipment prep, stuff like that. we’re a little short on hands on saturday. you in?”
sophia hesitated. “i don’t know… i might be out with alex that day.”
your stomach dropped, but your face didn’t change. you just offered a tight-lipped smile, eyes unfocused. lara nudged sophia’s arm. “yn and another girl is gonna be there.” sophia turned to look at you, and you met her eyes briefly. you didn’t say anything. you didn’t need to. she hesitated again, visibly torn. “…maybe. i have to see how saturday goes.
“well, if you change your mind,” lara said, giving sophia a knowing look, “it’s always open. besides, yn could use a friend there.”
sophia opened her mouth to respond, but nothing came out right away. you didn’t press. you just watched her quietly, your expression unreadable. she didn’t know what she expected to see in your face, but whatever it was—it wasn’t there.
Tumblr media
sophia could hear the doorbell ring, followed by basil’s unmistakably loud voice yelling, “your favourite person is here!”
she paused at the top of the stairs, heart ticking a little faster. she didn’t know why that made her blush. maybe because it was true. or maybe it was the panic that you might’ve actually heard him from outside.
she smoothed her sundress, quickly brushing down the fabric as she gave herself one last glance in the mirror. cheeks warm. hair in place. smile soft but not too eager. okay.
when she finally walked down the stairs, she spotted you through the open front door. leaning against the railings in your leather jacket, talking to basil with that casual charm of yours.
you looked—cool. your hair, your posture, your smile. it wasn’t fair. you looked like you belonged in a movie. basil nudged you, laughing about something, and for a second sophia almost turned back around just to take another breath.
then you looked up and saw her. your whole expression shifted. “soph,” you said, voice low but warm, and something in it made her freeze for a moment.
you weren’t smiling like you normally did. your gaze moved from her eyes to her lips to her sundress and then back up again. like you were taking her in all at once. she stepped out of the house, barely remembering how to walk. you tilted your head slightly. “you look…”
you didn’t finish the sentence, but your face said enough. “thank you,” sophia smiled, cheeks heating as she fiddled with the strap of her bag. “you clean up okay too.”
basil scoffed. “okay? look at her. leather jacket? hair actually tamed? she’s trying to impress.” you rolled your eyes. “shut up.”
“don’t knock her up!” basil called out dramatically as you both started walking down the path. “bye, basil,” you said dryly, grabbing sophia’s hand for just a second to guide her past the uneven step. she nearly tripped anyway, too caught up in the feeling of your fingers against her skin. when you let go, her palm missed it immediately.
“you ready?” you asked once you reached the car, your voice soft again. different from how you spoke to basil. only for her. “yeah,” she replied, eyes shining just a little too brightly. “ready.”
the drive to school was quiet, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. the windows were slightly rolled down. music played softly from the stereo. sophia peeked at you once or twice, each time hoping you wouldn’t catch her. but you did.
and you smiled.
once you arrived, the field was already starting to fill with groups of people. string lights hung across the trees, dim but glowing. the screen wasn’t lit yet, but the projector was being set up. blankets, snacks, pillows. people were settling in.
you popped the trunk and pulled out a folded blanket and a small cooler bag. “you came prepared,” sophia said as you led her to a quieter near the back. “had to,” you shrugged, setting everything down carefully. “wasn’t sure if you’d eaten.
you laid out the picnic blanket, smoothing the corners before sitting down. sophia joined you, eyes drifting to the cooler bag. “wait,” she said, “you made sandwiches?” you avoided her eyes. “yeah. i mean. just in case you got hungry.” “you made these?” she asked again, genuinely surprised. “for me?”
you shrugged again, clearly flustered. “it’s not a big deal.” sophia reached for one of them, unwrapping the foil carefully. it smelled good. “no, it is,” she said softly, grinning. “it’s really cute.” you ducked your head, ears turning pink. “don’t say that.”
“what? it is,” she said, taking a bite. “and it’s good.”
you tried to act unfazed, but your fingers kept fidgeting with the edge of the blanket. sophia felt warm. not just from the food or the air, but from you. from the effort you put in. from the fact that you remembered she liked her bread toasted just a little. from the fact that she was here, with you, without a textbook or a group or anyone else getting in the way.
it hit her all at once. how rare this was. how special. just you and her, under the lights, and nothing else demanding your attention. you leaned back on your palms, watching the people around you start to settle down. the movie hadn’t started yet, but the energy in the air felt almost anticipatory.
sophia glanced at you again. you weren’t looking at her. but she wished you were. she didn’t know what any of this meant yet. but she knew how she felt right now. and it was… happy. unreasonably happy.
Tumblr media
sophia couldn’t stop glancing at you.
the movie had started. drive me crazy, a film she’d only ever half-watched once on cable, but now it played on the huge projector screen. the kind with soft music and bubble fonts and girls with shiny hair and boys who suddenly realize the best thing in their life has been there all along. it felt like a cliche, and yet… here she was. on a blanket with you, under strings of dim fairy lights and the vast sky, heart threatening to beat right out of her chest.
you were leaning back on your wrists, one leg stretched out, the other bent casually. your leather jacket was still on, despite the warmth of the evening. it made you look even cooler. like the main character in a teen movie who didn’t even try to be charming. you just were. and when the screen lit up your face. those golden streaks of light dancing over your cheekbones. sophia had to physically remind herself to look away.
she was flustered. every time your arm brushed hers, she stiffened slightly. not because she didn’t like it. because she did. too much. it was impossible to ignore how close you were. how your knees would occasionally touch when you shifted. how you’d offer her little comments about the movie in a whisper only she could hear. each time you leaned closer, it felt like the air thinned around them.
sophia didn't realize how cold her hands were until yours touched them.
the movie had been playing for a while now, and most of the lawn had quieted into the soft hum of popcorn munching and screen-lit faces. she wasn’t even watching anymore. not really. her eyes were forward, but her mind was sideways—on you. the way your foot tapped gently against hers, how your knuckles occasionally bumped. your presence beside her felt too big, like it was crowding all the space in her chest, and yet she wanted to be closer. she needed it like oxygen.
your fingers brushed hers again, this time more intentionally. and then, before she could prepare, you reached for her hand and held it. gently. warmly. like it was the most natural thing in the world.
her breath caught. she didn’t look at you.
your thumb ran lightly across the back of her hand, just once. slow. curious.
“your hand’s freezing,” you whispered, voice low, careful not to disturb the fragile quiet between you.
sophia blinked. her brain stuttered. “oh. yeah. i guess i—i didn’t notice.”
you were still holding her. still rubbing soft circles, like your trying to warm her hand. then came the breeze. not strong, but sudden, slipping under her sundress and making her shoulders tense. you didn’t say anything.
you let go of her hand just for a moment, and the cold bit at your skin immediately, sharper now that you weren’t distracted by her touch. she looked up, confused, just as you slipped your arms out of your jacket. the motion was smooth. you didn’t say anything. you didn’t need to.
the air was cool tonight.that in-between kind of cold that settled low in your chest and made your breath curl in front of your face. the sky had turned dark, still holding onto the last traces of daylight. she shivered once, barely noticeable, but you caught it.
you shuffled closer.
your jacket, still warm from your body. draped over her shoulders. not quickly, not casually. you made sure it settled right. that the collar tucked against her neck. that the sleeves didn’t slip off.
sophia went very still. the warmth hit her first, curling around her like a second skin. then the scent. faint leather, something piney from your cologne, and something else, something she couldn’t name but had always associated with you. it wrapped around her like a memory she hadn’t let herself remember.
her fingers twitched at her sides, like she wanted to hold onto it. like she wanted to hold onto you. when she turned her head to look at you, you were already watching her.
your face was different in the low light. softer. your features drawn in shadow and the gold cast of the nearest lamp. your eyes, usually so easy to read—were darker now, unreadable. they flickered with something quieter. something closer to hope. closer to fear. you weren’t smiling. you weren’t teasing. you just looked at her.
long and soft and still.
“thanks,” sophia said quietly. her voice came out tight, breathy. she meant to sound casual, but the words caught in her throat before they even made it out. her fingers brushed the edge of your jacket, holding it closed like armor.
you didn’t reply right away. your eyes dipped, briefly, instinctively—to her mouth. then back up.
you didn’t let it linger, but she saw it. “of course,” you murmured, your voice a little rough. a little softer than she’d ever heard it. and for one long second, neither of you moved.
it was until a body dropped onto the blanket beside you guys. “hey,” came the casual voice, disrupting everything in an instant.
you turned your head, blinking. sophia flinched. and just like that, the spell broke. but she didn’t let go of your hand.
your eyes was met with soft, delicate smile with smooth, glowing skin. her eyes lingering for just a moment too long. “you’re yn, right? i’ve heard a lot about you.” said the girl with a wolfcut who just interrupted them. yn’s face softened with a smile, that casual, approachable one she always wore. “yeah, that’s me,” she replied, her voice as warm and pleasant.
the girls gaze flicked over to sophia, and for a brief second, there was something mischievous there, something almost knowing. she didn’t acknowledge her presence, though; she just looked right back at yn with a tilt of her head. “i’ve been hearing about you from some of the other members in the music club. cant wait to get to know you better this weekend”
sophia’s jaw clenched, but she forced herself to breathe. her gaze flickered to yn, waiting for her reaction. yn was shocked then she started smiling back, polite. “oh! you’re karina?” karina nods with a charming smile on her face.
karina's voice was light, almost flirtatious, and sophia could hear every word like a slap to the face. “im sure we’re gonna have a good time. you’re pretty involved in the music club.”
sophia's fingers curled into fists again, and she forced herself to take a deep breath. she could feel the heat rise in her chest, that simmering jealousy she couldn’t quite control, couldn’t hide. it was like the walls around her chest were closing in. she was fuming, but she had to hold it together. karina was still talking, still leaning in just a little too close to yn, but sophia couldn’t look away. it made her feel restless, uncomfortable in her own skin. she hated how karina looked at yn. hated how she seemed so effortlessly at ease with her.
“maybe we’ll get to do some more events together. you and me.” karina continued, her voice sweet like sugar, but with an edge that made sophia’s skin crawl. yn laughed lightly, more because she didn’t want to seem rude than anything else. “yeah, i guess so.”
sophia’s fists tightened again. she wasn’t sure why it bothered her so much. it wasn’t like karina was doing anything wrong. but it felt like a punch to the gut every time she’d glance at her.
without thinking, sophia nudged yn’s side, the action coming out sharper than she intended. her voice was almost a whisper, but it was tight with the edge of frustration. “im cold,” she muttered, hoping it would make yn pay attention to her, if only for a moment as they were still talking about the next day.
yn blinked, caught off guard. she looked at sophia, her eyebrows knitting together slightly in confusion. for a split second, sophia thought maybe she’d gone too far. maybe it was too obvious. but then, yn smiled, her face softening, and before sophia could process what was happening, yn’s arm was around her shoulders.
it was a simple, just an arm, draped over her, the warmth of it soaking into her skin. but sophia’s breath hitched, her heart skipping a beat. it felt like the world was narrowing down to just the two of them, karina’s annoying chatter blurring out of focus. the warmth from yn’s body pressed against hers, and sophia’s mind went completely blank for a moment. the tension that had been building up inside her. the jealousy, the frustration. melted away for just a second, leaving her with nothing but a rush of warmth.
karina finally glanced down. it was brief, just a flicker of her eyes toward the arm yn had draped over sophia, but it was enough. her mouth pulled into something between a smirk and an apology. “oh,” she said, the word cutting through the air just a little too knowingly, “have i caught you two at a bad time?”
sophia stiffened, but yn didn’t flinch. “nah,” she replied, casual, as if her arm wasn’t currently setting sophia’s entire bloodstream on fire. “we were just watching.”
karina’s smirk deepened for a second before she lifted her hands in mock surrender, tone playful. “my bad. i’ll leave you guys to it.” she looked at sophia this time, and for once, actually acknowledged her. “nice jacket, by the way.” then she got up, brushing off her skirt like she’d just lost interest, and disappeared into the crowd of blankets and folding chairs.
sophia didn’t say anything for a long time. she just sat there, eyes fixed ahead like she was watching the screen, but she wasn’t. the movie might as well have been static. she couldn’t hear anything over the pounding in her ears, couldn’t feel anything except yn’s arm still resting gently on her shoulders, the weight of it, the warmth of it, the casual closeness.
she was flushed all the way to her ears. she knew it. she could feel the heat crawling up her neck, her jaw tight as she tried not to let it show, tried not to make it obvious how dizzy she felt. her skin buzzed under yn’s touch.
you shifted beside her, not moving away. just closer. like you sensed it. you could feel the way her breathing stuttered. “you good?” you asked quietly, leaning down a bit so your voice barely rose above the rustle of the crowd and the hum of the movie playing in the background.
sophia glanced at you, your face so close it made her stomach twist. your arm still around her. your eyes soft and unreadable. she blinked, then nodded a little too quickly. “yeah,” she said, her voice small and clipped. “just… wasn’t expecting her.”
you raised an eyebrow, eyes flicking back in the direction karina had gone. “karina?”
sophia didn’t answer right away. her lips were pressed tight, her fingers knotted together in her lap. “she’s annoying,” she muttered eventually, the words coming out sharp.
you blinked, surprised by her tone. “she’s not that bad.”
but that only made sophia’s jaw clench harder. not that bad.her heart stung, irrationally and stupidly, like she’d just been scratched raw. the thought of you spending hours with her tomorrow, alone, laughing like that again, her leaning in too close while you smiled and didn’t stop her—it made sophia feel sick. her thoughts spiraled.
“she clearly likes you,” sophia said flatly, eyes fixed on her lap, voice barely above a whisper. “not that you noticed.”
you tilted your head slightly, caught off guard. “what?”
“nevermind.” her tone was too bitter to continue. she hated how obvious she sounded now. she wanted to take it back, but the words were already there, suspended between you.
you didn’t say anything for a second. just looked at her. studied her, the way her shoulders were tense under your arm, the way her jaw twitched slightly when she wasn’t speaking. “are you okay?” you asked again, softer this time.
she turned to look at you finally. and the look in your eyes. concern and, maybe even something warmer. it made something in her snap. she didn’t know what possessed her.
“i’ll come tomorrow.”
you blinked. “what?”
“to the orchestra setup. with you and karina.” her voice was firmer now, more controlled, but the edge was still there, bubbling just under the surface. “i’ll help.”
you hesitated. your brows lifted a little. “i thought you said you hate doing stuff like that.”
“i changed my mind.” she swallowed, staring right into your eyes. “it’ll be fun. right?”
and then she smiled, too wide, a little fake, but her eyes were burning. because if there was one thing she knew in that moment, it was that she could not let you and karina be alone together tomorrow. not when it felt like everything was tilting, slipping out of her hands.
you looked at her for a long second. then your lips parted, like you were going to say something, maybe call her out on it, maybe ask what this really was. but you didn’t. you just let out a soft laugh, shaking your head.
“sure,” you said finally, smile curling at the corners of your lips. “the more the merrier.” oh you were oblivious.
Tumblr media
the next morning sophia woke up late. she woke up with her alarm ringing and drencehd in sweat. she hurriedly got up and checked her text. "im already here where are you?" she cursed herself for not telling basil about her plans for today. if not he could've woken her up. 'useless ass brother' sophia got dropped off by basil, she was extremely late. 2 hours late to be exact.
she wanted to leave the second she entered the auditorium because of what she saw. she saw you squatting near the apron fixing some wiring. she could see some of you back muscles peeking through the white tanktop you had on. she almost passed out.
but what made it worst was karina who was sitting on the edge of the stage. she was admiring you. your back to be specific while typing on her phone. something inside sophia lit up. she could feel herself getting angry and frustrated.
she stomped over to where you both were. karina noticed sophia’s angry walk over. “oh you’re here?” karina said with disinterest in her voice. sophia rolled her eyes at that. you on the other hand turned around upon hearing the footsteps. a bright smile immediately took over your face.
“you’re finally here!” you said in a teasing manner. getting up from your squatting position, while wiping off your hands on your jeans. sophia got a whole view of your body and she almost shuddered. your loose jeans were making your boxers peak out. sophia was caught off guard when you immediately went to hug her.
sophia hugged back of course while glaring at karina who was rolling her eyes at you two. sophia prayed you miss the way her face went red when you suddenly greeted her with a hug. “sorry im late” said sophia looking down, drowned with guilt.
you patted her shoulder. she looked up at you and that stupidly adorable grin was on your face. “it’s okay! you can help finish arranging the chairs.” you pointed at the stage behind karina.
sophia pointed at karina who was sitting on the stage idly tapping on her phone. “why isn’t she doing anything.” her tone had a hint of annoyance.
you turned back to smile at karina. who returned it. “oh she already got started arranging the chairs.” sophia only hummed at that and got to work. walking past karina who didnt even spare a glance at the girl who was glaring at her.
you got back to work. sophia was still embarrassed about being late in front of you (and karina). sophia kept sneaking glances at you while you’re working. watching the way your shirt rides up when you reach for something. the way your arms flex when your pushing onto the wires hard.
sometimes between that you joined her in arranging the chairs since karina didn’t help. but she enjoyed the view of you carrying the heavy chairs for her. it made something inside her stomach swirl.
sophia feels stupid. she’s thinking of stuff she should never imagine. she shook the thoughts away from her head as quickly as it came.
after awhile karina leaves the auditorium to grab something from the music room. suddenly the silence wasn’t awkward anymore. it was comfortable. the scrapes of chairs and sounds of tape and clattering was calming.
it was until you broke it. calling for sophia backstage near the curtains. “soph could you help me with this.”
sophia glances up and sees you by the curtains, your hand tugging gently at one of the thick panels that’s gotten caught up in some tangled wiring. you’re halfway bent over, one hand braced on your thigh and the other tugging carefully at the wires. the fabric’s bunched, looped over itself, refusing to budge.
“this one’s stuck?” she asks, walking over.
“yeah,” you nod, straightening up a bit. “i need you to hold the curtain still while i pull this out. it keeps getting worse every time i try alone.”
sophia nods, stepping beside you and gripping the curtain from the side. her hands sink into the thick material, and she shifts closer to reach the tangled part. just one small step. but it’s enough to close the space between you.
“okay, now pull that bit there,” you say, gesturing toward the bundle of wire stuck behind the fold.
you both move at the same time. she lifts the curtain, you pull the wire, and something shifts under her feet.
“fuck-” the fabric jolts loose suddenly and swings inward, wrapping around both of you in a slow, heavy sweep.
sophia stumbles forward, instinctively trying to untangle herself, but her arms catch around your shoulders when you tried to stand up straight to catch her.
“fuck,” she breathes out, eyes wide. “sorry—i didn’t mean to—” but she doesn’t pull away. She couldn’t. the curtain has fallen mostly closed around the two of you, trapping you both in this soft, dark cocoon.
she realizes how close your faces are. you’re pressed so closely together that your foreheads could touch if one of you leaned in an inch. and in the dim light, she can see every detail of your face. the way your lips part as you catch your breath. the way your eyes flicker to hers. your hand is still gripping her waist, firm and steady. she can barely hear her own thoughts over how loud her heart is beating.
a beat goes by.  all you can think about is how her lips are right there. how they’re soft and pink and shiny with the same vanilla lip balm she always replies when she’s distracted. you’ve stared at her mouth more times than you’d admit.
wondered what that lip balm tastes like. wondered what she tastes like.before you said something. you whisper, almost like a confession. “i can’t do this anymore”
before she could ask you what. you pulled her in. you kiss her.
it’s not rushed, not hesitant either. it’s warm and slow and steady, like you’ve thought about this for a long time. like you’ve needed it. your hand around her hips was clutching onto her, and she freezes at first. because you’re kissing her.
her body goes stiff, and her heart stops. but then, almost like she’s waking up from a dream, her eyes flutter closed and she kisses you back.
the tension snaps like a rubber band. her hands tightens around your shoulders, dragging you impossibly closer to her, the curtain rustling around your hips. it’s messy, a little desperate. lips parting and clashing. her fingers dig into your shirt trying to feel you even more. she feels the way you sigh against her mouth, and it makes her dizzy.
her mind is spinning. this is happening. this is real. you’re kissing her, you want her, and she’s never wanted anything so badly in her entire life. her nose is filled with your scent. all she could think about is you. how good of a kisser you are. how she needed you–
“y/n!”
you and sophia tear away from each other like lightning just struck between you. both of you are wide-eyed, breathless, lips red and swollen.
sophia’s still holding your arm. you’re still gripping her hip. you let go at the same time.
you blink fast, heart still thudding. you clear your throat, trying to act normal. “yeah?” your voice
cracks slightly. you clear it again. karina’s footsteps get closer. you rush out from behind the curtain, hair mussed, shirt wrinkled, face burning.
sophia doesn’t follow immediately. she stays hidden, hand pressed over her mouth, heart racing. she can still feel your hands on her. the way your thumb had dug into her hip, the way your lips had moved against hers like you knew what she needed before she even did.
her mouth feels bruised. her skin is flushed all the way down her neck.
you kissed her.
you kissed her.

“Is this seat taken?”
I look up from my French toast to find Bianca of all people looking down at me. We’re not friends and we don’t talk much around school, but we don’t have a problem with each other either.
“Uh, no. Go ahead.”
“Thanks,” she smiles softly – a rare sight – and takes a seat across from me with her breakfast tray.
The Quad is filled with students and their parents, all of them having breakfast one last time together before having to part ways again later today.
“So, your parents left early?” Bianca asks, her voice surprisingly gentle.
I finish chewing and swallow before answering hesitantly. “Uh, yeah. You could say that.”
Bianca was one of the students who saw Lara and me yesterday when we got back to Nevermore with Weems, so she must have figured my parents came for an actual visit this year.
She frowns and spoons some cereal in her mouth. “Everything okay?”
I pause and put down my fork. Why is she asking all of this? We never talk about anything not school related. Yes, I get why she took a seat at my table because there’s literally no other free spot in the entire Quad, but when she sat down I wasn’t expecting her to strike up a conversation.
She must sense my hesitation because she straightens and smiles sheepishly. “I’m sorry. I hope I’m not overstepping. Just thought you might wanna talk because I know what it’s like to have less than ideal parents…”
It takes everything in me not to gape at her because where the hell is all this coming from? She seems sincere, since her eyes keep nervously darting down to her plate.
“It’s fine,” I say quietly, still feeling the weight of Lara’s goodbye in the pit of my stomach. “I just… don’t want to talk about it. I’m sorry your parents aren’t all that either.”
She sends me a tight-lipped smile and nods, quietly accepting I’m not in the mood for talking.
We go on eating, each of us minding our own business until I hear Enid across the Quad, standing up to her mom.
From what I heard, she’s been on Enid’s case about wolfing out all weekend, so I’m glad she’s finally showing some backbone and standing up to her.
I finish eating, savoring the last bit of French toast that makes me feel a little better about what happened yesterday before getting up. Bianca shoots me another smile and I reciprocate it half-heartedly before leaving and putting my empty tray away.
It’s a nice morning with the weak autumn sun streaming into the Quad, but I saw that it’s supposed to rain later today, so I plan on just spending the rest of the day in my room.
As I’m about to slip into the school, I notice a commotion on the other side of the Quad and look back only to freeze for a second when I see the entire Addams family standing there.
Huh.
I have no idea how they’re here, but it looks like their charges have been dropped.
Gomez Addams is beaming and takes in the Quad for a moment before leading Pugsley to the buffet.
Wednesday and her mom stay back, letting their gazes drift over the students and parents with eerily similar calculating eyes. It seems like they’re looking for someone, and when their eyes land on me, I realize that that someone is me, which makes shivers run up my spine.
While an unreadable glint flits through Morticia Addams’ eyes, Wednesday’s face reveals nothing about what she’s feeling at the moment. I do hear her heart stutter for a moment though, but that seems to have to relate to the way her mom touches her lower back gently, nudging her forward to follow her dad and brother.
I blink, and quickly turn away, hating how even now, after everything that’s happened, her eyes on me make my stomach flutter.
I stare at the cursor blinking on my laptop screen, not knowing how to start my essay about the outcasts of the seventeenth century. I’ve done all the research in the library, and now, because I have nothing else to do, I just want to get it all written down, but for some reason I just can’t concentrate.
The cursor keeps blinking, almost as if mocking me, and I stare at it for a moment longer before shutting my laptop with a sigh.
It’s useless. I’m not going to get it done anytime soon.
I’m about to flop onto my bed to wallow in self-pity when my eyes get caught on a slip of paper on my nightstand.
I frown and pick it up only for my heart to flip when I see a phone number on it. Below it is a little heart with the letter L, so I immediately know who it’s from.
“Lara,” I whisper, feeling my throat close as I scramble for my phone on my desk. I open it and go to call her, but then I remember our parents might be around and they probably don’t know about Lara giving me her number, so I chose to shoot her a text instead.
It’s a simple hey, and for a minute it goes unanswered, but then Lara comes online and three dots appear before she texts back that she misses me.
I go on to ask how she is and if our parents were mad about her running away. She tells me they were more worried than mad, but that she’s grounded for a month, which makes me chuckle softly.
I miss her so much already, I can literally feel it in my bones, but the fact that I can at least text and call her now eases some of that weight.
We text back and forth for over an hour, much to my delight, until I hear some shuffling outside my door.
I pause and put my phone down, frowning when I hear Enid's muffled, “Wait!” outside my door.
I cross the room and open the door, freezing when calculating dark eyes snap up to meet mine.
“Wednesday?”
The raven haired girl straightens up and clenches her jaw, almost as if embarrassed she was caught doing something she shouldn’t have been. She’s wearing a black and white checkered knit sweater and black slacks instead of her school uniform and for the first time since meeting her, her hair is not in its signature two braids. Instead it’s in a low bun that looks a little messy, which is very unlike her. She also has dark rings under her eyes, making her look more like a corpse than she already does sometimes which, for some reason,  doesn’t stop a warmth from spreading in my stomach. Quite the contrary actually, seeing her disheveled makes her look almost adorably human for once.
That must be what a night in jail does to you…
I still have no idea how she managed to weasel her  way out of that one, and how she somehow managed to prove her dad innocent, but that’s a question for another time.
Right now she’s here, with Thing warily perched on her shoulder, and I have no idea why.
I glance to my left where Enid is frozen mid step, looking between Wednesday and me with a cringe.
“I’ll–Uh. I’m gonna go.” She nods to herself and clicks her tongue before turning and rushing away.
I clear my throat softly and look back at Wednesday and Thing, crossing my arms subconsciously.
“What are you guys doing here?”
My voice comes out resigned and quiet rather than mad, but I don’t have the energy to change it.
Wednesday’s lips twitch and she continues to hold my gaze for a moment before looking off to the side.
I raise an eyebrow and look at Thing, who just taps on Wednesday’s shoulder to get her to say something. I hear her inhale, but before she can say anything my eyes land on what she’s clutching to her chest.
“What’s that?”
It’s clearly a leatherbound notebook, but she must have brought it for a reason.
Her grip on it tightens and she meets my gaze again, her face unguarded for once but still unreadable.
“It’s for you,” she admits, standing tall but her voice wavering ever so slightly.
“For me?” I repeat incredulously.
She swallows and scoffs softly almost as if she can’t help it. “That’s what I said, isn’t it?”
I don’t know whether to be surprised or offended. “I–Yeah. So, what is it?”
She hesitates again, a muscle in her jaw twitching before Thing pokes her ear in encouragement.
She swats at him with one hand and hisses, “Do that again and you’ll be down to four fingers,” before almost reluctantly handing me the notebook.
The leather is smooth and warm in my hands, but there’s nothing on the cover to indicate what it might contain. I meet her eyes once more, feeling a ripple of uncertainty coming off her before flipping to the first page.
My breath gets caught at the sight of the symbol of my pendant sketched into the middle of the page, and I flip to the next page with shaking hands. My eyes darting over the handwritten notes, not taking anything in until they snag on one word.
Ægiryn… Written in Wednesday’s scrawly, cursive handwriting.
I snap the book shut, my heart pounding and stare at her.
She knows.
My mind runs wild with what this means for me, but then I see Thing shift on Wednesday’s shoulders and I direct my glare at him.
“How could you?” I say, sounding breathless.
First the whole Rave’N debacle, and now this. He told her what I am… After everything that’s happened. He told her. I knew I never should have trusted him. He’s just like–
“He didn’t do anything.”
Wednesday’s voice snaps me out of my thoughts and I look back at her with bewilderment.
“I figured it out,” she adds, clasping her hands in front of her. “Although once I knew, I made him tell me everything he knows about your kind.”
Of course she did. I always knew it would only be a matter of time before she found out. I mean, she literally threw a knife at me… I just didn’t think it would be this soon.
Also, Thing might not have betrayed me in the way I thought, but he did tell her more about what I am and I don’t know how to feel about it.
I flip the notebook open with trembling hands, feeling like the rug has just been pulled out from under my feet, and skim through the pages.
History of Ægiryns… Weaknesses…Powers…
It’s all there, almost like an exact copy of the book from the Nightshades’ library.
I have no idea how she figured it out, and quite frankly I don’t want to know. What I do want to know though is why she would want to rub my nose in it.
Is she taunting me? Is she threatening me?
I snap the book shut again and shove it against her chest, scowling. “What do you want from me, Wednesday? Is this some kind of joke to you?”
“What? No!” Her eyes widen in an unprecedented display of shock and she’s quick to grab a hold of a book when I let it go so it doesn't fall. “I don’t want anything from you. This is just–” Her eye twitches and she looks off to the side again. “Thing told me about the book that was stolen. The one from the Nightshades’ library? About your kind… Last night, after my mother and I came up with a plan to prove my father innocent, I asked her for help in putting this together for you. Thing said you don’t know much about your own powers, and my mother is a well of information about all kinds of outcasts.”
My scowl melts into a confused frown and I cross my arms again, genuinely taken aback. “So it’s supposed to be a gift?” I ask warily.
Wednesday nods, still not meeting my eyes.
“Why?”
She huffs and digs her manicured black nails into the spine of the notebook. “What happened at the Rave’N– I… I should not have gone with Tyler. I should have gone into the woods with you and Eugene.”
My eyes widen and I can’t help but actually gape at her for a second when I realize what’s going on. She’s trying to apologize.
This doesn’t change the fact that she did what she did, but never in a million years did I think she’d apologize for it, much less with something like that notebook of hers which she put together with the help of her mother.
It must have taken hours to get this all written down, and now I understand why Morticia looked at me the way she did earlier in the Quad.
She knows what I am, too, and she was trying to gauge my potential reaction to Wednesday giving me the notebook.
I soften ever so slightly and fight the urge to brush a strand of Wednesday’s bags out of her eyes. And then, before I can stop myself I say, “Well then, it looks like you didn’t want to dye your hair pink after all.”
Her eyes snap up to meet mine, a crease forming between her eyebrows, but before she can ask what I’m talking about I add, “You know, since you said you’d rather dye your hair pink than ask your mom for advice. Remember? At the old meeting house?”
Surprise, relief, and something akin to amusement flicker over Wednesday’s face and for once, she doesn’t know what to say. She just nods stiffly and holds the notebook out to me again.
I take it, feeling my fingers tingle when our hands brush and clutch it against my chest. “Thank you.”
She dips her chin in acknowledgement and turns to leave, but before she does, she mumbles, “I promise, I won’t tell anyone what you are.”
I swallow thickly but don’t say anything, as she turns and leaves. Thing waves timidly, still perched on her shoulder, and I wave back, completely rattled by what just happened.
I clench and unclench my hands before finally getting enough courage to knock on Enid’s and Wednesday’s door.
There’s some shuffling and then the door opens to reveal a breathless Enid.
I raise an eyebrow, my nervousness momentarily forgotten, and ask, “You good?”
She nods and runs a hand down her fluffy pink sweater. “Fine. Just running late for a date with Ajax.”
I can’t help but smile a little. “Ah yes. You two finally figured it out, didn’t you?”
She rolls her eyes but her cheeks turn a faint shade of pink as she gestures for me to come inside. “Shut up.”
I raise my hands in mock surrender and chuckle softly. “I’m just saying, I told you.”
“Yeah, yeah…” She rushes to her side of her room to finish applying her blue eyeliner while my eyes stray to Wednesday’s side of the room.
It’s clean and organized, just like last time, but she’s not there. There’s only Thing who’s reading a glossy pink magazine on her bed, which I’m sure he got from Enid.
“Weems took Wednesday to visit Eugene,” Enid says when she catches me looking around the room. There’s a certain knowing lilt in her voice that makes me want to deny I was looking for the raven haired girl, but there’s really no point in it.
So, I just hum and wrap my arms around myself before remembering I wanted to ask her about her mom and what happened during parents’ weekend.
“I saw you arguing with your mom earlier…Everything okay?”
Enid finishes drawing on her eyeliner and turns around with a bright smile. “Everything’s fine. She wanted to send me to a Lycanthropy camp over the summer because I still haven’t wolfed out yet, but I made it clear I’m not going. I’m going to wolf out in my own terms and if she has a problem with that, I don’t want to hear about it.”
Pride fills me and I wordlessly close the space between us to hug her. She squeaks in surprise because I’ve never initiated a hug like this before but then she sinks into it and hugs me back.
“I’m so proud of  you. That takes guts.”
“Thank you.” She squeezes me and pulls back to look at me. “How are you? You know, because of Lara and your parents…”
I sigh and take a seat on the edge of her bed. “Not so good, but that’s nothing new. Lara left me her number though, and we’ve been texting, so that’s good. But my parents? Yeah… I don’t know.”
I know Thing is right there and he can hear everything I’m saying but I honestly don’t even care anymore. My family situation has never really been a secret as much as my identity has. I just never liked talking about it and when someone asked questions about why my parents never came to visit, I’d always make up an excuse.
Enid’s smile turns sympathetic and she asks some more questions about how Lara’s doing before her phone chimes and her eyes widen. “Crap. I’m so late. I gotta go.”
I get up and move to leave as well since Wednesday is not here, but then the door opens right as Enid reaches for the handle, and Wednesday comes walking. She’s back to her old self with her two braids and neat bangs, but there’s something gnawing at her. It’s ugly and vicious and cuts bone deep even if she doesn’t want to admit it, and within a second I realize it’s guilt.
Of course. She was just out visiting Eugene…
Her eyes meet mine and she pauses for a moment, obviously surprised to see me, before her eyes land on Enid. “Ajax better show up this time or I’m going through with what I said last time.”
Enid smiles and I frown because even though Wednesday sounds like she genuinely cares about Enid, I have no idea what she could possibly mean. Seeing my confusion, Enid is quick to fill me in, though.
“If he breaks my heart, she’ll nail-gun his.”
“Oh.” I don’t know what else to say. I mean, what could I possibly say to that? It’s morbid and exactly something Wednesday would say. The only surprising thing is that she might actually mean it, which once again goes to show that she cares about Enid.
Enid’s phone chimes again and she grimaces, quickly uttering an apology for having to leave so abruptly before darting out of the room.
Wednesday turns to her side of the room and goes to sit at her desk, but not without raising an eyebrow at the magazine Thing is reading.
I actually came here to talk to Thing about the whole soulbond concept I read about in the book from the Nightshades’ library, since it wasn’t mentioned in Wednesday’s notebook, but now that she’s here, I don’t exactly want to bring it up.
Ever since reading about  it for the first time, her face comes to mind when I think about it and despite what’s happened, my infatuation continues to persist, which gives me reason to believe my powers have bonded me to her somehow.
I go to leave quietly, but Wednesday turns around in her chair and says, “Are you planning on brooding in the middle of the room for the rest of the night? Because if so, I don’t mind. Just do it quietly.”
I huff, mildly amused and rub my neck awkwardly. “I’m not brooding.”
She raises an eyebrow and crosses her arms, looking ready to object but I go on before she gets the chance.
“I-Uh…I wanted to thank you for the notebook again,” I say.
I don’t expect anything other than a nod of acknowledgement, so when she actually looks away and mumbles a quiet, “It’s the least I could do,” I’m genuinely shocked.
There’s an unspoken tension simmering between us, and I don’t know how to handle it, so after a couple of seconds of silence, I move closer until I’m leaning against the edge of her desk with my arms crossed. She looks up with an unreadable expression, but doesn't tell me to leave, so I don’t.
“So, you were arrested for graverobbing?” I ask with a hint of amusement in my voice, which makes her glare at me for a second.
“I wasn’t graverobbing,” she states and if I didn’t know any better I’d say she was pouting. “My mother and I merely gathered evidence proving my father’s innocence.”
“I see,” I tease gently, which makes her glare harden before she realizes I’m joking. Her face actually softens then and the tiniest of smiles tugs at her lips.
Her giving me that notebook doesn’t change what she did, but it did make me let go of most of my bitterness towards her. That hint of a smile on her otherwise stoic face also makes my stomach flutter, confirming my stupid little crush on her is far from gone.
“So, what actually happened with your dad? I mean, you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to I just–”
“He was arrested for the murder of Garret Gates, but as it turns out, Garret Gates was already dying of nightshade poisoning when my mother stabbed him to save my father,” she cuts me off, explaining without a second thought. “My father took the blame for her back then…Garret Gates wanted to kill all outcasts with the nightshade, but ended up poisoning himself before attacking my father in a fit of jealousy.”
“Holy shit.”
“Yes, I know. A shocking turn of events. But it doesn’t matter anymore. Garret Gates is dead and my father has been cleared of all charges. Now all that’s left occupying most of my waking thoughts is that monster and the missing body parts of its victims.”
“And Crackstone,” I add quietly, which makes her nod.
She averts her eyes for a moment, running her finger along the bottom of her typewriter before getting to her feet. She looks at me with such an intensity, it makes me actually take a step back and uncross my arms.
“At the old meeting house, I had a vision, remember?”
Do I remember? I almost scoff in disbelief because of course I do. I literally held her in my arms, shielding her from the rain and the cold while she was unconscious. Knowing that saying that would only freak her out though and maybe pull back, makes me simply nod in reply.
Thing  already mentioned something about Wednesday’s ancestor Goody Addams almost being burned alive by Crackstone in the old meeting house because of his effort to cleanse the world of all outcasts, but I don’t know much more than that. She doesn't know I know about it though, but I don’t mention it when she goes on to tell me that part of her vision. However, when she mentions how Goody managed to escape, my breath hitches.
“There was this boy,” she says, her eyebrows furrowed. “I don’t know his name, but he couldn’t have been older than fourteen. He helped Goody by lifting the trap door under the fireplace. It had gotten stuck and Goody couldn’t manage to open it herself, but then this boy helped her. His eyes… They were glowing gold when he used his powers to lift the trap door. I didn’t know what it meant at the time, but now I know he was an Ægiryn.”
I’m definitely not used to her knowing what I am because her saying the boy was an Ægiryn makes me flinch slightly, but I don’t interrupt as she goes on.
“Goody tried to convince him to escape with her, but he refused, returning to what I’m assuming was his sister who was still chained to the ground like the rest of the outcasts. He tried to free her, but he’d drained most of his powers helping Goody.” She looks down and runs her fingernail along the grain of her wooden desk, quietly adding, “He used the rest of his powers to calm her down in their final moments.”
I swallow dryly and cross my arms. That boy died for his sister. He died saving Wednesday’s ancestor. I don’t know what their relationship was like, but if Wednesday doesn’t know his name, Goody must not have known either, which means they didn’t know each other and he still did what he did.
He gave and gave until there was literally nothing left to give…
A foreboding shudder runs through me and I blink, realizing Wednesday is watching me closely.
“Crackstone also had a signet ring,” she says slowly. “It was small, so he couldn’t wear it, but he had it tied around his neck with a thin leather band. It had the Stillmark symbol on it.”
The Stillmark. That’s the name of the symbol on my pendant. The symbol I now know represents our people.
Hatred and fury courses through my veins at the thought of Crackstone stealing it from the boy, only to then wear it himself as a taunt.
I understand now why Thing and Wednesday destroyed his statue. If they hadn’t, I’d do it myself right this second, but they did, so there’s nothing for me to do now other than silently fume about it.
“I don’t know how yet, but the monster, the murders, and Crackstone are all connected somehow,” Wednesday says when I stay silent.
I glance at Thing who climbs onto Wednesday’s desk, tapping his assent.
I bite the inside of my cheek and let my eyes dart around the room. She’s right. There has to be a connection. And after what Wednesday just told me about Crackstone, I want to do everything to make sure that fucker’s legacy stays dead and buried.
“So, what now?” I ask.

___
The moment the cameras stopped rolling, the room exploded—not only with noise, but with movement.
Staff rushed the stage from every angle, ushering people off, managing cables, confetti, and chaos. I stood frozen, just behind the other six girls now officially named Katseye, my eyes unfocused as I tried to anchor myself in reality.
Everything felt too bright. Too fast. Too loud.
I had barely heard my name being called. And yet, the words still rang in my head:
"Katseye will shine with seven stars."
I had trained myself to smile for the cameras, to walk with poise, to never let emotion crack my face. But as I stood at the edge of the stage surrounded by noise and cameras flashing in every direction, my breath caught in my throat. My knees felt soft.
The crowd was still chanting their, our names—Katseye, Katseye, Katseye— making all of this scene more real than ever.
Suddenly, I'm back in reality when I feel someone looking at me. It's Lara, gesturing for me to join her and the rest of the band backstage.I followed her, my body trembling with adrenaline and disbelief. The girls hugged me again in the hallway. There were cameras on them still, staff rushing by with headsets and clipboards, but all I could feel was the pull of their arms and the ghost of the spotlight on my skin.
It felt unreal. It was unreal.
I was in.
***
But by the time the stage lights died completely and the seven were herded into their shared room, the air shifted.
I hovered by the door. I didn't feel like I had the right to sit yet
Daniela was the first to speak. Her tone wasn't cold—just careful.
"So... this is real." She looked y/n up and down, then offered a small smile. "Seventh member. Didn't see that coming."
I hesitated. "Me neither."
"Okay, wait—what just happened?" Manon said, spinning in a wide circle and nearly knocking over a bouquet.
"I know," Megan groaned, half-laughing, collapsing onto the couch. "My brain is literally on airplane mode because honestly, I thought the surprise would be a solo collab with LE SSERAFIM or something. But you?" She pointed playfully at me. "Way cooler."
I gave her a polite smile but didn't know how to respond. It felt like I was balancing on a tightrope. Too shy and they'd probably think that I didn't belong. Maybe they'd think that I was trying too hard.
Sophia took off her heels and sighed with practiced elegance. "Well," she said, "I think it's clear this is our new reality."
Yoonchae glanced toward me, smiled briefly, then leaned over to grab a protein bar. "Seventh star."
"I—" I finally spoke, and my voice felt thin. "I'm really grateful. I just didn't think—"
"That you'd be added in the final five seconds of the broadcast?" Lara finished, grinning. "Yeah. Wild."
I smiled faintly when Sophia sat next to me and gently nudged my shoulder. "You did amazing tonight. You held your ground in the choreo. And your vocals were—"
"Powerful," Manon finished, flopping dramatically into a beanbag and tossing her hair over her shoulder. "Like, seriously. That last verse you threw in? I felt it in my bones."
I smiled, grateful. But inside, I was unraveling. They all already had memories together—laughs, arguments, sleepless rehearsals. I'd watched them bond while quietly wondering where I belonged. Now I expected to jump into a dynamic that felt... set in stone.
A short silence fills the room, each of us realising what we have achieved. Then the calm is broken by Lara's cheerful tone: "Let's get ready, girls! Our life as Katseye is about to begin! "
Next to me, Sophia stands up and adds "Let my life as a charismatic leader begin!"
I let out a soft laugh, quickly followed by the other girls. The laughter intensifies as Sophia's loud laugh echoes in the dressing room.
"A charismatic leader's laugh indeed"adds Yoonchae mischievously.
"Say it the louder ! " exclaim Daniela and Megan, who can hardly stop laughing.
"The maknae these days.... Whatever, let's go celebrate with our families and the rest of the girls, we've got a long night ahead of us" says Sophia with a smile on her face, a soft blush on her cheeks.
Then, I look at my phone, and see lots of messages from my family, congratulating me on my success, including one from my mother who's waiting for me outside. The dressing room falls silent as the rest of the group leave, and when only Manon is left, she pulls me out of my concentration: "Are you coming, y/n? Your family must be dying to see you. Come on, don't keep them waiting !”
I looked up at her and replied, 'Yes, I can't wait,  I'll be right there.' Manon walked over, clapping her hands. "Okay, everyone pause" She points one finger at a non-existent audience  dramatically. "This is a historic moment! Y/n, our surprise plot twist. The French twist!"
I couldn't help but laugh. Me and Manon had always exchanged little bits of French backstage. It had made me feel less alone. But now... now I was one of them.
Was I?
I didn't feel like it. Not yet.
***
Later that evening - The Dorms
The dorms were buzzing. A staff meeting had handed them new schedules, branding info, a soft embargo on social media until the formal reintroduction. Everyone was exhausted, yet wide awake from the adrenaline.
I was sitting on the sofa in the shared living room, reading by myself, listening to the noises coming from the kitchen.
"Wait, Manon, you can't put butter in a mug cake—"
"Do not disrespect my grandmother's methods—"
"Daniela, are you texting the vocal coach at midnight?"
"I'm just asking if she meant E-flat or E-natural, okay?"
No one had been rude. Not directly. But I felt it—the slight delays in response, between some of the girls when she spoke. The tightness in Daniela's tone. The unspoken truth: I was not a part of their memories. Not yet.
The thought was interrupted by a voice behind me.
"You're thinking too loud."
It was Sophia, holding two mugs of herbal tea.
"I thought you might need this," she added, handing one over. "Megan's already knocked out. Daniela's still pacing. Manon's stress-baking cookies in the microwave with no recipe."
I cupped the mug in both hands, grateful for the warmth. I laughed, just a little. Sophia sat beside me on the sofa. Her posture was effortless, elegant even in exhaustion.
"Wanna talk about it?" she asked.
I hesitated. "Do they want me here?"
Sophia didn't answer immediately. She looked down at the tea in her hand, then met my eyes with calm honesty.
"I think everyone's still adjusting. We had this idea of what Katseye would look like, and then suddenly—there you were. But adjustment doesn't mean rejection."
I swallowed. "Daniela didn't even speak to me tonight."
"She's competitive," Sophia said gently. "You probably remind her that she doesn't have control over everything."
That landed harder than expected.
"But," Sophia added, "you'll prove yourself. You already are. And believe me—Megan likes you. Manon adores you. I trust you. That's three out of six."
I gave a soft laugh. "Half."
"It's enough to start with."
The hallway light buzzed softly overhead.
I took a slow sip of tea. In the other room, I could hear Megan laughing in her sleep—Megan, who had gone out of her way to compliment my vocals even if her jokes hit a little fast. Manon had insisted that I try the microwave cake earlier. Sophia had given me this moment, this calm.
I didn't have the full group yet.
But maybe, just maybe, I was starting to carve out myplace.
"I want to be worth the surprise," y/n whispered.
Sophia smiled. "You already are."
***
Hallway – Around  2:00 AM
The apartment was quiet now.
I wandered out into the hallway in oversized socks and one of the Katseye crew hoodies. The silence was a relief, though it also made me feel exposed, like an echo in someone else's home.
I stopped in front of the bathroom mirror and stared.
I looked the part. Sleek hair, delicate makeup, poised expression. The kind of girl people looked at and said, I am meant for this.
But inside? My chest still felt hollow. I thought about the fans watching the broadcast. I imagined them pausing the screen when her name was called, turning to each other with confused faces.
"Who's that?"
"Wait—why her?"
I hadn't trained with the others for as long. I hadn't had the same story arcs. I was the "surprise twist," the unexpected card played at the last second.
I silently made my way to the balcony, grabbing a blanket from the sofa. Lara stood there, her phone in hand. "Couldn't sleep?"
I shook my head, then respond "What about you ? Why are you here so late at night ?"
" I was just talking to my sister, she was as surprised as I was by the announcement of a seventh member." She stops talking, looks at me curiously for a moment, then adds "Sit with me ? The bench is big enough for two.”
I sit precautiously next to Lara, and seeing her shiver slightly, I spread the blanket over our legs.
"Thanks, Lara. Look, I know we haven't had much chance to talk today, but I'm grateful to have you by my side in Katseye. Who else would I have been able to practice my rap with?" She adds with a light laugh.
"I must admit, I would have missed it too, Lara, but I realised what I was missing when I heard the six names called, it was quite extraordinary !"
"I can imagine that when I heard your name, my heart missed a beat, so it must have been multiplied for you !"
"Yeah, I still can't believe it," I said, smiling.
"I know it hasn't been an easy day, the atmosphere's been pretty tense, Dani's on edge, I haven't been the most friendly person myself and I'm sorry... It's just that it's hard to see your plans turned upside down. But disrupted for the better, don't let you think otherwise, we're all happy to have you around even if we don't express it in the same way..."
"True. But I can't wait to discover the world of the music industry, to make the crowds sing, to travel, to become an official adult in this world and above all to discover the new home that the label has promised us ! " I exclaim, my heart a little lighter thanks to this moment.
"We have a lot of memories here of Dream Academy, but it's time to fully join Katseye and discover our new housemate," Lara replies to me, thoughtfully, stargazing.
"As long as I'm not with you, I could sleep in peace, without having to hear you sing in your sleep," I tease Lara, nudging her in a friendly way.
"Hey, that only happened once !" she exclaims offended.
We laugh together and sink into a comfortable silence. Lara rests her head on my shoulder and for the first time today I feel confident, light, as we share this moment of calm before the storm.

iii. The Katz/DA talking about Bannern/n in interviews
When Daniela and Megan were doing their section of a tiktok video for Billboard about how well they knew their members, they were asked “which of the girls’ pulls the hardest”.
“I feel like it’s a tie between Lara and Y/N realistically,” Daniela glanced over at Megan for support.
The Chinese-American hummed in agreement, “Yeah. Lara has this whole girl crush aesthetic goin’ for her and it’s definitely a big hit with a lot of fans. Y/N has a cleaner, old money vibe, so she pulls more with like people we used to meet. Like remember, back in dream academy?”
Daniela laughed, “Yeah, it was so hard tryna eat with her.”
“People would just come and ask her for her number, but she was tak—!” Megan slapped a hand over her mouth, earning a wide-eyed hiss from Daniela. The redhead laughed nervously, shaking her head to dismiss what she almost said. “She just wasn’t interested, so she’d turn down so many people.”
“So yeah, definitely Lara or Y/N pulls the hardest.”
In another interview of Sophia and Manon talking about how they balance their work and life, the Filipina shared ways she kicks back on days off to make sure she put self care first.
“Yeah, I love cooking for the girls, it relaxes me.”
Manon raised her mic, “I think we also just all go out together and hang out like normal friends, y’know. We go out to dinner, go to the movies and go shopping when we can.”
“Yeah, I remember when we first debuted, you and Y/N would go out together a lot.” Sophia mentioned without realizing.
Manon eyed the camera, nodding her head.
“Yeah, retail therapy solves everything,” Manon joked, “I do enjoy a good trip to the mall and like a long night out with all of us when we’re free. Super therapeutic.”
On Emily’s instagram live, questions about Manon and Y/N’s relationship during the survival show were asked.
“Wow, you guys are going straight to the point, huh?” she chuckled, “Y/N and I were pretty close on dream academy, but her and Manon were 100% closer. The management liked pairing them together a lot on the show cuz they looked really good together onstage, but they spent so much—and I mean, so much—time together off set.”
user01 is y/n currently dating anybody?
user02 when did you last talk to y/n?
“Y/N and I still talk a lot, but she’s really busy. She called me a couple days ago, but yeah, I really miss her.” Emily pouted, “I am not sure about her personal life, but that’s not a secret I’m in a position to share.”
The blonde’s face visibly irked, her expression changing when she spotted a comment about Y/N’s old instagram posts.
“I just know Y/N has a good thing going in her life right now. She really loves what she does and she loves all the support you guys show them.” Emily nodded, “And honestly, at the end of the day, the real fans will support Y/N through whatever.”

20 - hold that thought
tw: mention of excessive drinking habits
a/n : long chapter ahead
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“come on we’re gonna be late !” renjun yelled from your living room as both you and lara were still getting ready.
you don’t why you’ve agreed to go knowing how bad the last party went like, but specially that you weren’t someone who enjoyed partying nor enjoyed going to frats.
lara interrupts your thoughts by giving you a back hug while you stood in front of the full length mirror, “you’re gonna be okay tonight ?”
“why wouldn’t i be ?”
“i’m sure jeno and mark will be there, no ?”
you sigh, “i don’t think jeno would and as for mark, i don’t really care, he’s the one who did me wrong why should i be the one avoiding him”
yeah but still
“you’re right baby” she smiles at you, giving you a quick kiss on the cheek.
“you look absolutely stunning by the way” she adds “i’m sure someone tonight will take your mind off of him”
“lara !” you smack her arm with a loud laugh.
she grimaces and continues laughing “you think haechan is an option ? i don’t know how i’ll feel about it but not gonna lie, it’ll be so sexy though, fucking your like, nemesis” she says between air quotes
“never. he’s unfuckable and just because we’re cordial at the moment doesn’t mean that i hate him any less by the way” you say, taking one last look at yourself in the mirror before grabbing your bag to head to the living room.
“he’s kinda cute if he knew how to shut up and be decent” lara sighs
“who’s cute ?” renjun peeks from his phone upon your arrival
“haechan” lara answers him, wiggling her eyebrows
“he is actually, he’s just a bitch and y/n’s sworn competition” he fixes his hair looking at his phone’s camera before standing up “can we fucking go now”
“yeah yeah” you sigh.
the three of you arrive at the familiar frat house that you’ve unfortunately, memorized top to bottom.
unexpectedly, there wasn’t a lot of people and you’re sure you weren’t there early.
as if renjun was able to read your mind, he looks your way and smiles
“this is sexily intimate, exclusive parties are never packed and it makes it so much better for you know, gossip” he smirks.
“of course you’d eat the hell out of gossip” lara nudges him
“look who’s talking !” renjun smacks her back
“does this mean you’re finally gonna shoot your shot at jaemin ?” she asks him as you’ve finally all reached the main gate.
“i’ll try. i always get flustered when i see him, his eyes are so doey and big” he shakes his head shyly.
in front of the gate was a frat guy you didn’t recognize, his light brown hair covered his forehead as he held a typical red plastic cup, an obnoxiously small tablet in his other hand.
“shoo shoo babygirl, get to the front, you’re the one who got us invited” renjun sing songs
“ugh i already hate this” you groan but do as he says, walking in front of them, trying to manifest the very last bit of confidence you’ve had left.
the boy looks up from his over the board bright tablet, eyeing you up and down before he lazily asks you
“got an invite ?”
“uh verbally ? i mean by text” you answer back awkwardly
“who invited you ?”
“haechan”
his eyes light up and he flashes you a big smile
“holdup… you’re y/n? ma-”
“y/n ! you’ve made it” you hear haechan from behind him as he puts an arm around that boy’s shoulders and grips his neck tightly making wince in pain.
“sorry for the up the notch security, we take exclusive parties seriously” he gives you a grin that you reciprocate with a cringe, probably.
“uh no worries. thanks for the invitation”
“of course. hi renjun and lara” he winks at your two friends behind you
they both answer him with a nod as lara grips your arm protectively.
“okay move away yangyang, let the baddies in” he smacks the boy which you’ve learned was called yangyang and gestures with a swift hand move, for you to follow him.
the three of you walk behind him as he waddles overconfidently.
the front yard had a few people sitting down on the grass smoking stuff you probably shouldn’t even question, while soft ambiance music was playing in the background.
haechan doesn’t stop there and takes you three from the side of the house, to lead you to the huge backyard where the pool and jacuzzi were at.
“here we go” he turns around dramatically, giving you a wink.
can he like not ?
“i hope you enjoy the pool, it’s warm as hell”
you look to the side and see a few people that you don’t necessarily know, swimming and chatting around.
you recognize jaemin, confidently sitting by the side of the pool, a glass of wine in his hand and a towel around his shoulders.
“oh my god he’s so hot” renjun whispers to you which makes you roll your eyes
“keep it down horn dog” you hiss
next to jaemin were who you think is chenle, who you’ve recognized from his nctu eagles jersey and another boy who was struggling to keep eye contact with you.
“oh yeah, those are my homies, na jaemin, zhong chenle and park jisung. don’t bother, they’re all losers” haechan claps his hands together, giving them the middle finger which jaemin returned before blowing him a kiss and winking at the rest of you.
“did he just- did he just wink at me?” renjun asks, a shaky hand making its way to his chest
“jaemin would wink at a squirrel, don’t take it personally” haechan deadpans.
renjun rolls his eyes and confidently makes his way towards the side of the pool where jaemin was seated at and removes his shirt before jumping inside.
“someone has a crush ?” haechan laughs
“oh yes” lara says still eyeing renjun’s attempts to swim but ending up looking like a twelve year who had just learned how to swim
“thank god we have jeno on lifeguard duty” haechan chuckles
you almost choked on your spit, coughing uncomfortably upon hearing jeno’s name and as if on cue, you see him coming out from inside the house, shirtless, with a towel spread on one shoulder, eyes looking straight at the pool.
he doesn’t see you as he’s too focused on watching renjun struggle in the pool which irks haechan and makes him say out loud, extending his arm towards him.
“thank you JENO for your service. might wanna save that kid” he smirks, gesturing with his head towards renjun.
jeno looks away from the pool to look at haechan before quickly catching a glance at you, trying his best not to give away anything about how he’s feeling.
“nobody should’ve let renjun inside the pool” he says quietly “RENJUN!” he yells for him
haechan laughs in the background as your eyes followed jeno, who throws himself inside the pool to join renjun.
“he’s so ice cold” haechan shakes his head.
both you and lara don’t respond and shift uncomfortably.
“well lara if you don’t mind, i’m gonna take y/n a few minutes away from you” haechan smiles widely at her, dimple showing.
he has dimples ? since when..
focus y/n
“uh sure” lara nods before letting you go.
at the last minute, she softly grabs your hand and mouths dramatically: text me!
you give her a frantic nod and follow haechan inside the house
“sorry for that” he chuckles “just wanted to have a few moments with you to apologize for how i’ve been acting in lab. you’re right, i’ve always been hangover and not on my best behavior and i realized, it must’ve been giving you a hard time” he says, almost sincerely
“it’s okay. at least you’re apologizing for it now”
“yeah” he smiles “beer ? realized how dumb i looked ordering wine for this birthday party but yeah, i can give you wine if you want”
“i’ll take a beer thanks”
he nods, crouching down to pick up a beer from the cooler, a huge sigmaphi logo plastered on it.
he opens it for you before handing it to you with a dramatic bow
“thanks” you giggle
he gives you a nonchalant nod and continues walking
“not to pry you know, i know we’re not there yet” he takes a sip of his beer “but is something going on with you and jeno ? i know he’s cold by nature but i thought you two were very close”
you sigh, wiping your mouth before speaking
“kinda not on speaking terms right now”
“oh shit sorry. big fight ?” he looks at you curiously
“difference in opinions” you answer back almost immediately
“happened before ?”
damn was he curious
“uh, not for this long” you answer him, looking down at the floor.
“his loss you know, i’m sure he was in the wrong” he sighs dramatically
you laugh, genuinely, which takes you by surprise and you try to hide it with a cough which makes haechan scoff amusedly.
“wanna try the jacuzzi and get your mind off of lee jeno” he takes the beer away from your hand and sets it down on a random counter
“uh sure yeah” you nod, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear
“okay let me get us some more drinks, you can go there first, i’ll be right back”
you nod and watch him take his jacket off, the white and green tank top that he was wearing, with the sigmaphi logo on, was hugging his figure nicely which made you quickly look away, shyly making your way back to the backyard and towards the jacuzzi.
it was placed in a rather secluded area in the backyard, where just a few people were sitting down on the grass, chugging down drinks and smoking all sorts of things.
you see a rather tall man come out of the jacuzzi, his figure catching your attention as he had a stupid birthday hat on his head that spelled “birthday boy”.
so this is jaehyun ?
he catches you looking at him and gives you a quick nod which you answer with a very quiet “happy birthday”
“thank you. enjoy the party” he says causally, as he walks past you.
you smile to yourself and continue walking towards your destination.
another shirtless man, there was so many, you thought, was standing in front of the jacuzzi, his back to you, as he was shuffling with some stuff
you were barely able to see anything as the light from inside the, way too fancy for a frat party, jacuzzi were blinding you, making you put a forearm above your eyes and on your forehead.
you quietly clear your throat and try to speak up as the sound of the water running was muffling everything
“uh are you gonna use it?”
the man standing jumps up but quickly recovers, shuffling again with his stuff frantically.
he doesn’t answer you though which you thought was valid considering how loud this thing was.
“hello, sorry i was ask-” you tap his shoulder
but he cuts you off by turning around.
you barely recognized him.
his hair has grown so much and was dyed to a very light brown color that unfortunately, matched his dark eyebrows and features perfectly, making you almost wince in nostalgia.
his body looked the same to you, his body lines that you’ve spent nights memorizing were looking right back at you, almost in a mocking manner, as you tried so hard to look away but ultimately failing miserably.
his familiar guitar abused fingers were awkwardly wrapped around his wrist, a habit you knew he always did when he was nervous.
it felt like you were in his arms just yesterday and that whatever happened was just a horrible nightmare that you’ve just awoken from
“sorry i’m late, these dogs drank all of the beers”
you were barely able to hear haechan’s voice between the loud sound of the water running and the ringing of your ears.
“oh i’m seeing you’ve just met mark. mark this is y/n, a new friend of mine and my lab partner” he stands next to you, shoulder brushing against yours.
mark gulps, eyebrows furrowed, but he quickly recovers and flashes that smile that you’ve once adored, and maybe still do
“hi y/n”
“hi”
“damn this is awkward” haechan snorts “be more friendly mark! sorry y/n he just came back to uni, i think the lack of socializing for a year has taken a toll on him” haechan nudges you before setting the beers on the sides of the jacuzzi
mark didn’t say anything and was barely looking at you, his eyes darting away in every possible direction but you.
“wanna join us mark ? i think it’s time we catch up and speak” haechan yells from the jacuzzi, arms spread out confidently.
“no it’s alright. i’ll leave you both to it” mark scratches the back of his neck, bending down to pick up the shirt he had just dropped
“goodnight y/n” he whispers
“good-”
“come in y/n” haechan yells again, a beer already in his hand, head thrown back.
you don’t spare mark another look for you own good and mental stability and quickly remove the long shirt you’ve been wearing to cover your bright red swimsuit, making your way inside, sitting down next to haechan.
you could feel his eyes practically devouring you but ignore it as you snatch the beer from his hand and chug it down
“woah, you good?” he reacts, eyes wide in surprise
you groan as the bitter taste overwhelms your mouth, throwing away the empty can.
“that was my ex” you say, barely above a whisper
“what ? this shit’s loud as f-” he points next to him at the water running, his index finger moving dramatically
“mark is my ex!” you yell
haechan looks at you in silence.
you couldn’t decipher his facial expression but his eyes were intensely fixed on you
“sorry. that’s must’ve been shitty for you… or him! if you broke up with hi-“
“he broke up with me”
haechan nods. opens another beer and silently hands it to you.
“wanna talk about it ? i’m a very good listener by the way” he tries to joke around
you smile, cheeks feeling hot from the heat of the jacuzzi and the alcohol slowing getting to you.
“dated him end of freshman year of college. i was so in love with him and i thought he was too. felt like i was so understood by him and we shared the same humor and interests. i had wanted to major in music and he was a music major, so we bonded over that. spent countless of nights writing songs together and singing them after we fought over what kind of melody we should compose” you take a break to smile as the memories come back flooding.
“i was so happy but then he slowly started to change. he would leave me on read when i messaged him or not show up to a date. and when he did show up he was so distant and seemed like his mind was on something else. then i felt like he started to drink more and wasn’t able to write a single lyric without having a drink first, but i never took it seriously cause it didn’t seem like a problem af the time, and maybe it never was, i don’t know. and then one day, he just sends me a text saying that he’s gonna be leaving uni and that whatever we had was distracting him from pursuing his music career”
you take a breath before continuing, “turns out i was just a distraction” you chuckle bitterly
haechan looks at you, an almost apologetic expression on his face that quickly fades away when you look back at him.
“he’s a piece of shit”
“yeah” you laugh “a big one”
“nasty one too” he laughs, pearly white teeth showing
you don’t know if it’s the alcohol creeping up on you or this whole situation clouding your judgment and taking away some of your functioning brain cells, but you thought haechan looked so beautiful at that moment.
head thrown back in relaxation, cheeks rosy from the heat of the water, hair wet and slicked back and a huge smile on his face.
focus y/n, that’s literally fucking lee haechan
“you still love him ?” he brings you back from your intoxicated thoughts
“i don’t think so”
“good” he smiles
“good ?”
“he doesn’t deserve you” he shrugs
you giggle at that, a bit too loud.
yeah i should probably put that beer down this is embarrassing, you thought
“i like it when you laugh” haechan says, a serious look on his face
you don’t answer but smile at him, putting down the half empty beer on the side of the jacuzzi
“and you have a pretty smile” you say back at him, not daring to look at him.
“should we do something about it”
“i’m drunk”
haechan nods understandably.
“another day?”
“yeah hold that thought maybe”
“i definitely will” he smirks.
what the fuck ?

ynstjohn: how did I bag YOU?
↳ jjmaybank: HA PPPPLLLEASE
you’re curled up next to jj in his bed, the second to all the boys movie playing on his laptop, light flickering softly across the room. the popcorn's half-eaten, your feet are tangled under the blanket, and everything feels warm in that slow, sinking way that happens when you know time’s running out.
“lara jean is so dramatic in this one,” he mumbles, head resting against the wall. “like, girl. breathe.”
you snort. “says you.”
“me?”
"dont even. you're so dramatic." you laugh, pulling the blanket up to your chin. “you got all sulky the other day when i didn’t text back for an hour.”
“okay, first of all,” he says, turning toward you, “you left me on read. you never leave me on read.”
“you were watching my location, you knew exactly what i was doing.” you laugh through your words.
“and? doesnt matter, i needed answers.”
you shake your head, grinning, and he bumps your shoulder with his. it’s easy like this. familiar. but you both feel it, that quiet ache hiding underneath the laughter.
the movie plays on, the dialogue fading into the background as your thoughts drift. he doesn’t look at you right away, but you feel his thumb brush lightly over your knuckles.
“when you leave… it’s at like 8am, right?”
you nod, “yeah.”
“so i’ll only get to see you the night before.” his voice is a little rough now. “cool, cool, cool.”
you glance up at him. “are you okay?”
he leans his head back against the wall, eyes closed for a second. “nope.”
you wait for a second, actually worried for him.
“but i’m gonna be,” he adds, shooting you a dimpled smile to let you in on his joke. “just gotta figure out how to be your long-distance boyfriend without going insane.”
“you’re gonna be fine.” he pulls you into him and you laugh into his hoodie, voice muffled when you say, “you’re gonna miss me like crazy, huh?”
“i already do,” he says. “and you’re still here.”
you lean in and kiss him, quick and easy and familiar.
and when you settle back into his side, his voice is barely above a whisper against your hair, “you better save the third movie for when i visit.”
you smile, eyes fluttering closed. “deal.”

"i'm gonna take a shower real quick," you say to lara who's sitting next to you watching a random show on the tv.
"mkay," lara hums, nodding her head, not really paying attention.
you kiss her cheek quickly before getting up off the bed, grabbing some clothes from your drawer and then heading into the bathroom. you leave the door cracked open a little bit, turning on the water and waiting a moment for it to heat up.
after a few minutes, you strip off your clothes and climb into the shower. the warmth of the water has you letting out a soft sigh, running your fingers through your hair. you hear the door not-so-subtly open wider, and not but a minute later the curtain is pushed back. you know it's lara, obviously, seeing as she would always follow you into the shower whenever you would.
lara's arms wrap around your waist and she rests her chin on your shoulder. "you feeling okay?" she asks softly, moving your hair over your shoulder so she could kiss along your neck.
"mhm," you hum, tilting your head to the side to give her more access to your neck. "just wanted to relax before going to sleep," you answer. a quiet moan falls from your lips as she bites down onto your neck, soothing it by licking over it with her tongue. one of her hands trails down between your legs, finding your clit and gently rubbing it. "lara..."
"let me help you relax, baby," she whispers into your ear. she leaves another bite mark on your neck as her fingers drag along your folds, collecting your slick on her fingers. "you're already so wet," she murmurs against your skin.
you can feel her pressing against you as she pulls you closer to her, awaiting your response. "please," you whimper.
lara spins you around to face her, kissing you with such force a whimper escapes your mouth as she pushes you against the wall. your arms hook around her neck and you gasp quietly when she picks you up by your thighs, the tip of her throbbing cock prodding at your entrance. you throw your head back as she pushes inside of you in one thrust, hitting the wall with a thud feeling her fill you up completely.
"fuck," you whimper, eyes closing as she slowly pulls out before slamming back into you.
"open your eyes," she demands, "keep your eyes on me." she builds a steady pace, her cock hitting all the right spots in you in this position, and there's a sinister smile that forms on her face at the sounds coming from you.
you force your eyes to open when she tells you to, staring into her dark eyes with your jaw fallen open and loud moans echoing. "o-oh shit! lara!" you whine her name, overwhelmed by the pleasure you were feeling that you could barely form a coherent thought let alone a sentence. "oh my g-god!" your eyes roll back when you feel her hit your g-spot, gasping out her name.
"you're so fucking tight, baby. you were just made to take my cock," she says in a sultry voice. "god, you look so good like this. so pretty taking me like a good girl. my good girl." there's a sense of possessiveness in her voice that makes you clench around her cock, feeling the veins against your walls as she continues to pound into you.
"'m your g-good girl mo-mommy, f-fuck it feels so good!" you're too fucked out to even realize what you said, but you can see the way her eyes change and her wicked smile grows bigger.
"yeah? you like mommy fucking you like this?" she taunts, her cock twitching at the sight of tears filling your eyes. "is my good girl all fucked out already? you can barely even think, can't you?"
the tears in your eyes are on the verge of spilling as you whine and nod at her words, your hands clawing at her back. "ye-yes mommy i l-love it so much!" you can barely think, just like she says. the only thing on your mind is the feeling of her cock practically splitting you open at how rough she's being with you, her nails digging into your thighs tightly. you can feel your orgasm approaching, and you grab her shoulders for support as you gasp. "'m gonna cum!"
"wait for me," lara tells you, her cock twitching again at the few stray tears falling from your eyes and the way you're clenching around her. "you'll cum when i tell you to."
you whimper at her words, nodding while noticing the way she speeds up her thrusting into you, resulting in you only getting louder. "lara, please, please let me cum! 'm so close, please!" you beg shamelessly, not caring how desperate you sounded.
"fucking wait," she hisses out. her thrusts are becoming sloppy, hips stuttering as she nears her own climax. she leans forward and kisses you deeply, moaning against your lips at the way your walls feel gripping her cock. she pulls away for a second, lips nearly touching yours as she quickly says, "cum with me, babygirl" and kisses you again.
moaning into the kiss as she kisses you, waves of euphoria rush over you and you swear you're seeing white as you cum all over her cock. she cums at the same time you do, thrusting up into you one last time and moaning with spurts of her cum filling you up. your eyes close in bliss at the warmth of her filling you up to the brim, whimpering when she parts from the kiss and slowly pulls out of you.
she carefully puts you back down on your feet, her arms wrapping around your waist to keep you upright as your legs tremble. "you relaxed now?" she asks, lightly teasing at the dazed expression on your face.
"mhm," you hum, nodding your head.
"you want me to take you bed?" she says softly.
"please," you nod again.
"okay," she pecks your lips quickly, turning off the water and gently wrapping a towel around you. she picks you up and leaves the bathroom, going back into the bedroom and putting you down on the bed. "i love you so much," she tells you. "i just want you to know that."
"i love you too," you smile at her. "now come lay down, it's cold without you here."
"well of course, my dear," lara smiles back.

›› tan lines and good times

sypnosis -»what was supposed to be a vacation turns into meeting possibly the prettiest girl you've seen in your life
beware -»fluff , small smut scene , kissing , confessing, swearing, pining , mutual liking
talks-» hihi , finally had time to write a long fic!! , I missed writing things like this , hope you like it!! mwaa — released this early for @sixflame438
taglist (open); @ohmyhaely @nyssalvr @vrtualstar @jellaaa @c-yerim @nakylvr @chuugetmesohigh
to be fair you agreed to this — your friends had planned out going to the beach for months and it's finally the day , what you failed to tell them was that you were gonna have to leave earlier due to some complication with your schedule
now trapped inside a van with cruel summer playing in full blast and your friends singing at the top of their lungs
"it's a cruel summer with you" marquise sings along with the speaker as she drives , lexie was busy feeding ezrela some chips and karlee was sleeping
you plug in some earphones and close your eyes , taking in the view outside the vehicle
"are we near yet?" ezrela says as she munches on the chips previously fed to her by lexie
"yep , just wait a bit more" marquise replies steering the wheel
Tumblr media
the place was gorgeous , airbnb karlee booked was spacious and had the view of the beach — you got the smallest room since you didn't want to sleep with anyone else
"y/n! let's go!" you hear ezerela call for you , you finish tying up the strings of your swimsuit before wearing a skirt to cover your lower half
"soo what do we think?" you said as you ascend from the stairs , showing your actually not so bad fit
"hot"
"stunning!"
"okay let's stop stalling and get to the beach then!" marquise pipes up , you all walk towards the beach , helping each other apply a good amount of sunscreen
the waves were amazing , the sun wasn't too hot and the place wasn't so crowded — it was truly a gust of cool wind — well obviously you still had work to worry about but that's a problem for tomorrow for now you wanna soak up the sun and get a beautiful tan
"I'm kinda thirsty — I'll buy us a drink , what do you guys want?" you ask the rest of the girls — well actually only karlee and lexie since the rest was already splashing around in the water
"pineapple juice will be good" lexie replies "make it two for me and ezrela" she follows , "ill have strawberry shake and I think emily and marquise will like a fruit punch each" karlee says before you walk to the nearest store
god help me right now — the seller? or maybe owner? honestly it didn't matter she was gorgeous — her long black hair fell perfectly over her shoulders and her face seemed like the best artists in the world sculpted it
"hello?—just those?" she asks before you stop staring at her , "oh uh- yeah just that" you replied cheeks heating up in embarrassment — okay now's the perfect time to channel your inner confidence and ask for her name
maybe not? — wait stop doubting yourself, but at the same time it's not like you'll be staying here for a long time might as well take the risk
you read her name tag , lara , what a beautiful name for someone equally as beautiful
"i love your swimsuit by the way" lara mumbles as she types in your order — your heart was beating out of your chest, you felt flustered to say the least
"thank you , i love your fit too" you replied shyly
you stand to the side as she hands you the receipt and drinks, as you walk away from the store you feel her eyes glued on you — you check the receipt and you saw a small smiley face and phone number scribbled at the bottom
you looked like a child geeking out that she gave you her phone number – as you sat next to your friends they had this suspicious and doubting look on their face
silently telling you to spill what happened, "fine...there was this girl in the store and she was so beautiful, her voice was like honey dripping, her skin glowed and her hair was flowy" on and on you rambled about how perfect lara was
"okay chill out, just give the rest their drinks, besides we need to go back it's getting late" karlee says
in unison all of you nodded before walking back to the airbnb , you were lost in your thoughts thinking about how you could've just bagged the prettiest woman ever
the gorgeous skies were painted in hues of orange and pink as the sun set within the horizon — your mind clear from any thoughts other than relaxing and maybe ms. pretty girl
Tumblr media
you lay in bed rethinking the whole encounter — it felt like it was a scene in a very cheesy rom-com, but seeing as how you have been so affected by those simple actions she took maybe it was more than being flustered
your body turns to the side sighing out of frustration, first is why the hell are you catching feelings and why are you suddenly so head over heels for the girl you barely knew
Tumblr media
the sun has barely risen when you wake up, the rest of the girls were still asleep — the breeze was fresh and cold yet the skies were this darkish blue
you decided to take a morning jog, to shake off the drowsy state you were in and maybe when you come back the rest wouldve been awake
you lace your shoes and adjust the straps of your tank top to the perfect length before opening the door leading outside of the airbnb — you plug in your earphones and started the jog easily
you passed by a couple of houses and establishments, but most were still closed due to the early hour, you admired how peaceful the place was compared to the city, how clean and quiet it is
you passed by lara's store — it was surprisingly open, offering some breakfast options, you read the sign hung up on the window — the smell of bacons and eggs lured you into going in — tottaly not your girl crush
"hello goodmorning, what can i get you started on?" lara asks as you take a seat on the bar right infront of her, she looks up and immediately recognized you, "hey pretty girl, what brings you back here — in this early hour even" lara joke
"it smelled heavenly in here — and because i was on a morning jog" you replied casually "I'd like some bacon and cheese sandwich and what drink is good?"
lara thinks a bit before writing on the paper she had on hand, "i think you'll like what ever ill serve" lara winks before walking to the kitchen and handing in your order
the desi girl walks to you and sits next to your chair, tying up her hair with some loose strands framing her face — "you haven't texted me yet?, what nervouse?" lara teases
"i got busy what can i say?" you replied — sort of staring at her face, she was perfect literally her eyes was one like a fox or tigers they were sharp yet gave a clear window into her emotions
"take a picture it'll last longer" lara says, grabbing your phone and taking a selfie, "now you have a souvenir, y/n's beach experience featuring lara" lara giggles
"best souvenir, if i do say so myself" you replied, smiling at the now wallpaper of your phone
the conversation flowed freely before you even knew it, it was already 7 am — crowds of people were starting to line up for food outside the store
"hey i wouldn't want to keep you from working' thanks for the food, see you later?" you said to lara — "see you" she softly responds as she helps the customers in, you left a hefty tip and a cute doodle on the check
Tumblr media
you breathe out as you sit on the sofa at your airbnb, small beads of sweat dripping from your forehead to your neck — you smile remembering the stupid topics you and lara shared opinions about, you had way more in common than you think
"soo where have you been" lexie asks as she walks and sits near you — it was obvious she had just woken up aswell, "morning jog, and some breakfast" you replied — "at the girl you told us yesterday?" lexie says casting you a side eye
"maybee~" you replied a hint of mischief in your voice — "you're like the gayest girl i know" lexie jokes making you laugh
"hey can you really blame me, she's so beautiful and we have so many things a like" you rant on and on to lexie
well till you looked over, to lexie now sleeping her hoodie hiding her obviously closed eyes, "wow okay supportive queen" you scoff in faux disappointment
Tumblr media
later that day you decided to finally text lara's number that she had given you the day before — adding the nickname "lara (maybe my wife)"
y/n: hi lara!, its y/n how are you — are you working rn?? ^^
it took a few minutes before lara responded, in which you pondered whether you should've even texted her
[lara (maybe my wife)] has texted you!
your phone dings in notification, you then opened the text delighted to see laras response
lara (maybe my wife): not really luv, its slow on days like this — earlier there was an morning rush though
y/n: i was wondering maybe later by 11 pm maybe you'd like if we went for a swim and after i treat you to lunch?
lara (maybe my wife): cute way to say you want to have a date — okay then, wear something like you wore yesterday that swimsuit really suited you ;)
you giggle, flustered by her response — fuck butterflies there was a whole zoo in your tummy by this point
y/n: confident, i like that — see you later lara!
Tumblr media
you stare at your neatly placed clothing options on the bed — ezrela also looking at the clothes with a critical hint in her eyes, "this white one or this pink one" you hold up the bikini tops matched with a flowy skirt each
"the pink one def'" ezrela pipes up, you wore it, applying light make up on your face a fresh pinkish blush and glitters on your eyelids
"all good, see you guys later" you bid farewell to the group taking a stroll to laras shop — seeing her already dressed in a purple bikini top and a white long skirt, golden jewelries accentuating her wrist and waist line
"hey!" you greet lara as she smiles warmly embracing you, her tropical yet smooth perfume invading your senses
"so let's go? by the way, I love your fit it's so cute" you compliment as you two start walking along the beach — the waves adding a calming sound
"so what brings you here," lara asks, as she pushes back some stray hairs on her face
"a group vacation, me and friends planned this long ago, and we just now get to actually do it" you replied, laying a blanket on the sand to provide you two a comfy place to sit
lara nods along with you, as she hands you a soda, "i know its hot drink some" lara laughs lightheartedly
lara lays down as the sun casts a soft glow on her skin, you admire the woman, admire her confidence that practically oozed out of her being, her passion for the place and everything that makes her lara
"i would love to live here" you mumble staring at the ocean, its blue waves and the people that swam care free in it — "really?" the girl asks
"yeah, it's so calm — not that it matters but all I ever knew was the city, being drowned in work, my breaks were day dreaming about a better life" you replied
"why not move here then, i can help you — i know some people who would gladly help you find a cheap place to rent or buy" lara responds, she sounded genuine
"i can't, work is so frustrating" you grunt, lara sits up and places her hand atop of yours
"how about don't worry about that right now okay? — enjoy the peace you get from here, with me okay?" lara gently reminds you, making your worries fade
"thanks," you hum
Tumblr media
lara splashes around in the water, her laughs a balm to your heart — she splashes some on you making you scream as you two chase each other on the shallow end of the water
"come back!" you run after lara toppling over her on the sand, with a soft grunt,
"ouch! — no cheating!" lara says as she tickles you to get you off her
Tumblr media
hours passed like seconds, by the time it was 2pm you two mutually agreed to eat at your airbnb — "my friends are there though i hope you dont mind" you say to the woman
"i don't, let's go," lara says hooking her arms with yours, sand rubbing against both your skin
at the airbnb you offer her some clothes and a shower, karlee occasionally spying on you two — and marquise not so subtly taking pictures you know for "keeps sake"
lara looked gorgeous in your shirt, a small part of you swelled with love as she smelled like you because of the shirt, you cook some gyozas and tonkatsu which you two happily shared over some cheesy rom-com
lara soon lays her head on your lap, staring up at you, you pretend not to notice but the beat of your heart says something else — her hands were intertwined with yours
you tried to act like the movie was suddenly so interesting when honestly it wasn't — lara sits beside you suddenly her soft hands placed on your cheeks
"can i?" lara asks, her voice vulnerable as she searched for approval in your eyes, "yes, please" you replied making lara smile and connect both your lips together, her hands drifting to your nape as she deepens the connection
lara moves to your lap, smiling as she continued kissing you only pulling away when you two needed air
"i love you, so much" lara mumbles as your hands wrap around her waist pulling her flush against yours
"i do too, isnt this funny though? we met like a day ago" lara laughs, "what can i say huh, we just clicked" you replied with a little boost of ego
"shut up" lara slaps your shoulders as she blushed
Tumblr media
time flew by and suddenly it was night time stars decorated the skies as people slowly drained from the beach
"i think I'll stay the night here" lara mumbles as you two hug laying down, "ill like that" you murmur back placing a quick peck to her head
soon the desi girl was asleep her head buried in your chest, you sigh wondering how did you even bag someone in the span of two days not to mention the woman was perfect
you might just have to move here, "woo!" karlee silently cheers you, as the rest of the girls teased you
you flip them off, laughing at their antics, eventually succumbing to sleep as well, i guesd the sofa was comfier with lara hugging you

arthur frederick and the new producer: chapter 6₊˚⊹♡
Tumblr media
words: 6,170✦ .ᐟ
♯┆arthurtv slow burn, bach and arthur podcast
after lara leaves bach and arthur’s podcast, you become her replacement. after discovering that arthur hates change, it takes a lot for him to warm up to you and become friends. it also takes a lot for him to admit how he truly feels about you.
. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁౨ৎ. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁
Chapter Five
. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁౨ৎ. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁
Chapter Six ₊˚⊹♡
After a while, you realised it was getting late. You stood up, brushing your hands against your thighs. “I should probably get going,” you said, glancing at Arthur.
Arthur stood too, his hands in his pockets. “Yeah… uh, thanks for coming over.”
You gave him a small smile. “Thanks for letting me in. I’m glad we talked.”
He nodded, his gaze briefly flicking to the floor before meeting yours again. “Me too.”
Outside, the cool night air hit you, and you began the walk home, the conversation from earlier still swirling in your mind. But one thought kept returning, the photo.
Once you were a few streets away, you pulled out your phone and opened your chat with Isaac.
You: Hey, did you send that photo of me and Arthur to him?
The reply came quickly.
Isaac: Why?
You frowned, typing back.
You: It’s his phone background.
There was a pause before Isaac replied.
Isaac: Oh. Well, I just wanted to make fun of how stupid he looked.
You rolled your eyes, knowing there was more to it than that.
You: I know you’re lying. Just tell me the truth.
Another pause. Then, finally:
Isaac: Fine. He asked for it. He asks for all the photos of you.
You stopped walking, rereading the text.
You: He asked for it? Why?
Isaac: I didn’t ask. I figured he had his reasons.
You bit your lip, staring at the screen. Arthur’s reserved attitude opening up, the photo, his hesitation earlier, all of it started piecing together in ways you hadn’t fully considered before.
You: Okay. Thanks for telling me.
Isaac didn’t reply immediately, but you didn’t need him to. You slipped your phone into your pocket and kept walking, your thoughts were all Arthur. Nothing but Arthur. That had been lately, everything that you saw reminded you of his face. His beautiful face.
When you got back to your flat, Emma was in the kitchen, scrolling on her phone with a cup of tea. She looked up when you walked in and set her phone down. “Well, how did it go with Arthur? Did he spill his mysterious secrets?”
You sighed, kicking off your shoes and dropping onto the couch. “It was… a lot.”
Emma raised an eyebrow. “A lot as in, it went well, or a lot as in, it was a disaster?”
You looked at her, debating how much to share, but then the memory of Arthur’s phone screen popped back into your head. “Okay, it went mostly fine. We talked about some stuff, but then I noticed something, and now I’m confused.”
Emma leaned forward, clearly interested. “Oh no, what did he do?”
You hesitated, trying to downplay it. “His phone background is this photo of me and him. The one I sent to Isaac that time.”
Her eyes widened, and she immediately slapped her hands down on the table. “What the fuck?”
You winced. “Yeah, exactly.”
Emma stared at you, her mouth open, waiting for you to explain more. When you didn’t, she finally said, “Do you think he likes you?”
You groaned, throwing your head back dramatically. “I don’t know! Maybe? It’s weird, right? Like, why would someone do that if they didn’t?”
“Exactly!” Emma was grinning now, clearly enjoying the situation more than you were. “That’s such a ‘likes you’ thing to do. Why else would you make someone your background? It’s like, classic lover boy behavior.”
You buried your face in your hands. “Stop it. Don’t call him a lover boy.”
She laughed, leaning over the back of the sofa. “So what are you gonna do about it?”
“Nothing! What am I supposed to do? Ask him? I’d die of embarrassment if he said no.”
Emma shook her head, still grinning. “This is so juicy. You’re so into him. You’re in denial, though.”
You glared at her, though there wasn’t much heat behind it. “I’m not in denial. And I don’t know what to think yet.”
Emma shrugged. “Alright, but when he confesses his undying love for you, I want a front-row seat.”
“Emma,” you groaned, though you couldn’t help the tiny smile pulling at your lips.
She raised her tea in mock cheers. “I’m just saying. This is far from over.”
You arrived at the studio earlier than usual, determined to get everything set up perfectly for today’s episode. It wasn’t just another recording day, Arthur had invited one of his close friends, Arthur Hill, to guest on the podcast. You hadn’t met him yet, but from what you’d seen online, he seemed great, funny, and also not entirely in sync with Arthur’s humor.
You busied yourself arranging the microphones, checking the camera, and tidying the small table off to the side, occasionally glancing at the clock. It was still quiet, the building’s usual hum of activity muted this early in the day.
By the time the door finally swung open, it was close to the recording time, and Arthur, Isaac, and Arthur Hill walked in together, laughing at something you hadn’t heard. Their voices carried easily in the small studio space, filling it with a comfortable energy.
“Morning,” you said, glancing up from your laptop as the trio entered.
Arthur—your Arthur—acknowledged you with a small nod, the usual awkwardness back in place. “Morning,” he muttered, his voice low.
Isaac was cheerier. “Hey! You’re early as always. I keep telling Arthur to get here earlier, but you know him.”
Arthur Hill grinned, his energy easy and magnetic, much like Isaac’s. “You must be the one keeping these two from chatting utter shit,” he said, his voice warm.
“I try,” you said with a small smile, standing up and extending a hand. “Nice to meet you, by the way.”
“Arthur Hill,” he said, shaking your hand firmly. “This guy’s been hyping you up.” He jerked his thumb at Arthur, who was already busy unpacking his bag, deliberately avoiding eye contact.
You blinked, caught off guard. “Oh, really?”
Arthur didn’t look up. “He’s exaggerating,” he said flatly, though there was a slight pink tint creeping up his neck.
Isaac smirked. “He’s not, though.”
Arthur Hill chuckled and leaned back against the wall. “I’m glad to finally meet you. I’ve heard the podcast is doing really well lately, thanks to your ideas.”
“Thanks,” you said, your face warming. “But it’s a team effort.”
Arthur finally glanced up, his expression unreadable. “You don’t have to downplay it,” he said, his tone neutral, but his words catching you off guard.
Isaac raised his eyebrows but said nothing, a smirk on his lips. Arthur Hill shot his friend a glance, but if there was a silent exchange between them, you missed it.
“Well,” you said, clapping your hands together lightly to break the tension, “everything’s ready to go whenever you are. Just let me know if you need anything.”
Arthur Hill gave you an approving nod. “Appreciate it. Let’s make this a good one.”
As everyone settled in, you found yourself observing the dynamics. Arthur was louder than usual, though not in a way that seemed unusual for him around his friends. Still, you couldn’t shake the slight jealousy that had crept back into your mind of how you wished Arthur would laugh as hard with you.
Isaac noticed it too, leaning over at one point while you adjusted a mic. “You good?” he asked quietly, his tone light but his eyes curious.
“Yeah,” you said quickly, brushing it off. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
Isaac shrugged, his gaze drifting toward Arthur. “No reason.”
You didn’t pry, but the knot of uncertainty in your chest tightened slightly. It wasn’t the first time lately that Isaac had hinted at something you weren’t fully grasping.
The recording started smoothly. Arthur Hill was a natural, effortlessly carrying the conversation and bouncing off Isaac and Arthur with ease. You stayed behind the scenes, as usual, monitoring levels and jotting down notes for the edit.
Occasionally, you caught Arthur glancing in your direction, his expression unreadable. But as soon as your eyes met, he’d turn his attention back to the discussion. It left you wondering, again, what exactly was going through his mind.
By the time the episode wrapped, you were mentally exhausted from the overthinking. As the others chatted casually and began packing up, you excused yourself to grab a quick drink of water. When you came back, Isaac and Arthur Hill were discussing where to grab lunch, but Arthur was already by the door, his bag slung over his shoulder.
“Arthur, you’re not coming?” Isaac asked.
Arthur shook his head. “Got something to do,” he said shortly, avoiding your gaze.
You frowned but didn’t say anything, watching as he left without another word.
Arthur Hill turned to you, his brow furrowed slightly. “He’s… like that sometimes. Don’t take it personally.”
“I’ve learnt not to,” you said, forcing a smile, though the sting of missing him was hard to ignore.
After Arthur left, the room felt quieter, though Isaac and Arthur Hill seemed unbothered. Isaac was scrolling on his phone while Arthur Hill leaned back in his chair, stretching with a satisfied sigh.
“That went pretty well,” Arthur Hill said, nodding toward the setup. “You’re good at this. Way better than when these two were winging it on their own.”
You chuckled, trying to push past the lingering awkwardness left by Arthur’s sudden departure. “Thanks. But they weren’t winging it, Lara was amazing, I just try to keep things organised, you know?”
Isaac looked up from his phone, grinning. “Organised is an understatement. If it weren’t for you, Lara would probably killed Arthur by now and I’d still be trying to figure out how to use half this equipment.”
Arthur Hill laughed, but then his expression shifted slightly, becoming more thoughtful. “You know, it’s funny,” he began, glancing at Isaac, who was now fully paying attention. “Arthur talks about you all the time.”
You blinked, caught off guard. “What?”
Arthur Hill leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees. “I’m serious. Like, way more than he talks about Isaac here or anyone else. He’s always mentioning you—how good you are at this, how you keep everything running smoothly, how you’re basically saving his ass outside the podcast too.”
You glanced at Isaac, who raised his eyebrows but didn’t deny it.
Arthur Hill continued, a small smile on his face. “It’s nice, actually. I haven’t seen him this happy or invested in something in a while. I mean, I’ve known the guy for years, and he’s not usually so… loving when he talks about people.”
You felt a rush of warmth, but also confusion. Arthur? Happy? He’d only just talked about his feelings with you.
Isaac chimed in, a sly grin on his face. “It’s true. He’ll never admit it, though. Typical Arthur.”
You shifted uncomfortably, unsure how to process this new information. “I don’t know,” you said slowly. “It doesn’t seem like he even likes me half the time. He’s so—” You paused, searching for the right word. “Distant.”
Arthur Hill shook his head. “That’s just him being weird. Trust me, if Arthur didn’t like you, he wouldn’t put in half the effort he does. He’s bad at showing it, but he’s got a lot of love for you.”
You looked down at your hands, your mind racing. The Arthur they were describing didn’t line up with the Arthur you interacted with. But then again, there were moments, when he seemed like he did have love for you, a lot of love for just a friend.
“Maybe,” you said quietly, over thinking such a simple word like ‘love’.
Arthur Hill stood, stretching again. “Anyway, I’d cut him some slack. He’s not great at this kind of thing, but he’s trying in his own awkward way.”
Isaac nodded in agreement, adding, “Yeah, he’s like a grumpy old man on the outside, but deep down, he’s all mushy. Probably hates how much he likes you.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at that, though the thought made your heart ache a little. “Thanks, I guess. I’ll keep that in mind.”
As they gathered their things to leave, you stayed behind for a moment, replaying the conversation in your head. Arthur might be distant sometimes, but if what they were saying was true, maybe there was more to his behavior than you realised.
Arthur Hill’s words stuck with you long after the conversation had shifted. As he and Isaac talked about some podcast Arthur had been excited about recently, you found yourself distracted, running his earlier statement through your mind on repeat.
“Arthur talks about you all the time.”
What exactly did he mean by that? Was it just about your work on the podcast? Your organisation? Or was there something more?
You leaned back in your chair, pretending to listen to Isaac, but your thoughts wandered further. Arthur wasn’t exactly the easiest person to read. One moment, he was closed off, distant, and brimming with criticism, the next, he’d surprise you with an unguarded compliment or a thoughtful gesture, like bringing you coffee, or walking you home, or even…
Your thoughts trailed to the background on Arthur’s phone, the image you’d spotted earlier when you were at his flat. That photo.
You hadn’t meant to notice it, but now you couldn’t stop thinking about it. It wasn’t just that Arthur had it saved, it was that he’d made it his background.
Why would he do that.
Was it some inside joke with Isaac? Or did it actually mean something to him? The idea that Arthur might have chosen that image, out of all the pictures he could have used, sent your thoughts spiraling.
Had Arthur Hill meant that Arthur liked you… liked you? Or was it just his awkward way of praising the working relationship you’d built?
You shook your head, trying to ground yourself. I’m overthinking this. There’s no way.
But the more you tried to brush it off, the more your mind replayed every strange, unexplainable moment you’d shared with Arthur. The way he’d stared at you and quickly looked away. The times he’d gone out of his way to do something nice, only to act indifferent about it afterward. And now, this background.
Arthur Hill’s earlier words came back to you again: “It’s nice to see him so happy. He’s always mentioning you.”
“Hello?” Isaac’s voice snapped you out of your thoughts. He was waving a hand in front of your face.
“Huh? Sorry,” you mumbled, flushing slightly.
Isaac smirked. “Thinking about Arthur, are we?”
Arthur Hill laughed, and you rolled your eyes, quickly changing the subject. But even as they moved on to other topics, your thoughts lingered.
What if Arthur’s distance wasn’t just him being grumpy or upset? What if it was something more complicated? What if he really did like you more than he wanted to let on?
And more importantly, did you want him to?
The walk home felt longer than usual, though the crisp evening air and faint sounds of the city tried to pull you out of your thoughts. They didn’t stand a chance, though, not with Arthur Hill’s words ringing loudly in your head.
“He’s always talking about you… It’s nice to see him so happy.
What had he meant by that? You replayed the conversation a dozen times, dissecting every word, every subtle inflection. Was it just platonic? Professional? Love? No definitely not the last one.
The moment you got through your front door, you dropped your bag and leaned against the wall, pulling your phone out of your pocket. If anyone could clear this up, it was Isaac.
You hesitated for a second, staring at the empty message bar, before typing:
You: Does Arthur like me?
The dots indicating Isaac was typing appeared almost immediately, and you tensed.
But his response was frustratingly stupid.
Isaac: Is he being cold again?
You groaned aloud and quickly shot back:
You: No, I don’t mean as a friend. I mean, does he like me like me?
And then—silence.
The dots didn’t appear this time. No witty comeback, no playful teasing. Nothing.
You stared at the screen, willing Isaac to respond, but it stayed stubbornly blank.
Now, as you walked the familiar route back to your flat, it was all you could think about. Arthur’s phone background flashed in your mind. Arthur Hill’s words echoed over and over. Even Isaac’s lack of a response felt like a confirmation of something, though you weren’t sure what.
By the time you reached your building, you felt overwhelmed by it all. Why couldn’t Arthur just say what he was thinking? Why did every interaction with him feel like solving a puzzle you didn’t have all the pieces for?
You let out a long sigh as you unlocked the door, resigned to the fact that the answers wouldn’t come tonight. But even as you kicked off your shoes and tried to distract yourself with a movie, your mind kept wandering back to Arthur.
And the thought you couldn’t quite shake was this: If he does like me… then what do I want?
You sat on the edge of your bed, trying to calm your mind. The more you thought about Arthur and what had happened, the more your thoughts spun in circles. But you didn’t want to overthink it. You were friends now, no expectations, no pressure. It was nice just spending time together.
You took a deep breath and decided to send him a message. Maybe you were reading into things too much. You typed it out quickly:
“Hey, do you want to hang out soon?”
It didn’t take long for your phone to buzz with a reply:
“Yeah, just let me change real quick.”
You blinked at the message, surprised at how quickly he responded. A smile crept onto your face. But then you realised, you didn’t really mean today.
“Oh, no, I meant another day, like tomorrow maybe?”
There was a brief pause before he responded again.
“I’m not free tomorrow.”
Your stomach dropped a little. You’d really hoped for tomorrow, but you understood. You didn’t want to push him. But just as you were about to put your phone down, another message from Arthur popped up.
“How about today, though? Can I see you today?”
You blinked at your screen, not expecting that at all. Was he serious? Did he really want to hang out today?
You tried to contain your excitement, but the truth was, you hadn’t expected this, not after all the uncertainty. You quickly typed:
“Yeah, I’d love that.”
Then, you added:
“Do you want to meet up somewhere?”
There was a brief pause, and when his reply came, you felt your heart race a little.
“It’s pretty cold out. Would it be okay if I just came over to yours?”
You stared at your screen, trying to process it. Was he asking to come over right now? The casualness of it threw you off a bit, but you tried to keep it cool.
You quickly typed back:
“Sure, that works. Come over whenever.”
You set your phone down, your heart pounding a little faster now. Whatever was happening, it was moving quickly, and you couldn’t help but feel a little excited about what the evening might hold.
About 20 minutes later, your phone buzzed. You looked at the screen to see a message from Arthur:
“I’m here, outside.”
You quickly rushed to the window, expecting to see him standing there, but when you saw him, you stopped in your tracks. Arthur was standing outside, wrapped up in a thick scarf and coat, his breath visible in the cool night air. He looked a little out of place, yet strangely cute, like he’d come straight out of one of those romantic winter movies.
Your heart skipped a beat. You hadn’t realised how much the sight of him would affect you. You stood there for a second, just staring, before you snapped out of it. You quickly rushed to the door and opened it.
Arthur looked up at you, his hands nervously adjusting the scarf around his neck. “Have I got something on my clothes? Oh my god, this is so embarrassing.”
You blinked, surprised at how flustered he seemed. You’d never seen him like this before, and it made you feel oddly warm inside.
“No,” you said, shaking your head as you tried to compose yourself. “You just look quite cute like that… Like you’re traveling somewhere.”
Arthur’s eyes widened, and for a split second, you could see him fighting a small grin. “I am,” he said with a quiet laugh, his voice soft but serious. “To you.”
You froze for a moment, the weight of his words sinking in. Your heart started racing, and you couldn’t help but feel a little overwhelmed by the way he was standing there, so close, in the dark, in the cold. You tried not to let your thoughts spiral.
“Come on in,” you said, stepping aside to let him in. “It’s freezing out there.”
Arthur nodded, his eyes still holding a hint of that shy grin. He walked inside, and you closed the door behind him. The sudden warmth inside your flat felt like a relief, but the tension between the two of you lingered in the air. Neither of you said anything immediately, but the silence was different now. Something was lingering.
You both walked into your room, Arthur was taking off his jacket and scarf, looking around a bit. He seemed a little unsure, like he was trying to figure out what to do next. Finally, after a long pause, he spoke.
“Thanks for letting me come over so late,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. “I think I just wanted to hang out.”
You nodded, smiling at him, trying to make him feel more at ease. “Maybe we should watch a film,” you suggested, glancing over at him. “One of the ones you were talking about on the podcast?”
Arthur’s eyes lit up a little. “Oh, that would be really good.”
With that, you both settled on the bed, and you moved to your TV to get everything ready. As you were picking out the movie, you caught Arthur looking at you from the corner of your eye.
“What’s up?” you asked, turning to face him.
He quickly looked away, his cheeks turning a shade of pink. “Oh, nothing. Just… It’s nice being with you.”
You didn’t look back at him, instead focusing on getting the movie set up. You tried to brush off the sudden rush of warmth you felt from his words. “You’re the one who traveled all the way here,” you said, trying to make light of it.
Arthur’s voice was quieter when he responded. “I know, but you didn’t say no. I was worried I freaked you out for a moment.”
You paused for a moment, the room filled with a sudden silence that felt too heavy. You turned toward him and smiled softly. “No, Arthur, you don’t freak me out,” you said, your voice steady but full of honesty. “I really like hanging out with you, it’s like my favorite thing right now.”
The words hung in the air, and for a moment, Arthur was completely silent. You couldn’t help but feel your heart race a little as you glanced back at him, noticing the way he was looking at you. He was still, watching you closely, as though trying to process what you had just said.
You waited for a response, but there was nothing. So you turned back to the movie setup, trying to focus on it and not overthink. But then, finally, Arthur spoke. His voice was a little unsure, almost as if he was testing the waters.
“Do you actually mean that?” he asked, his eyes searching yours.
For a moment, you were taken aback by the vulnerability in his voice. You nodded, a smile tugging at the corners of your lips. “Yeah, I do.”
You both sat close on the bed, the movie playing softly in the background. The room felt cozy, and for the first time in a while, you felt completely at ease. Every now and then, you caught glimpses of Arthur out of the corner of your eye, but it wasn’t until you noticed him holding his phone in his hand, tapping on the screen, that something caught your attention.
Curiosity got the better of you, and without really thinking, you asked, “Why am I your lock screen?”
Arthur froze for a second, his fingers stilling on the screen. You could see the sudden flustered look on his face, his cheeks turning a soft pink as he quickly glanced at you, then back down at his phone.
“I—I don’t know,” he stammered. “I just thought it was a nice memory I have.”
You raised an eyebrow, not sure if you were imagining it, but you couldn’t help but ask, “With me?”
Arthur looked almost embarrassed now, clearly caught off guard by your question. He shifted a little, scratching the back of his neck. “Yeah, I guess… it’s my favorite thing to do right now as well.”
The words hung in the air for a second, and you blinked, trying to process what he’d just said. You felt a sudden rush of warmth spread across your cheeks, unsure of how to respond. His phone, the lock screen with your photo on it, felt like a quiet confession, and you couldn’t help but feel a little stunned.
Before you could stop it, a nervous laugh escaped your lips. You quickly turned your head toward the screen of the movie, hoping the sudden embarrassment didn’t show too much. Your heart was racing, but you tried to focus on the film, trying to push aside the feeling of being flattered, and maybe just a little bit more than flattered, by his words.
Arthur was quiet for a moment, and you could feel his gaze still on you, but you didn’t dare look up. You were both so close, and the air between you felt thicker now, like something unspoken had passed between you. It was a quiet, simple moment, but everything felt charged.
As the movie played on, you slowly became aware of the gentle rise and fall of Arthur’s breathing beside you. The room felt peaceful, the quiet hum of the film acting as a soft backdrop to the comforting stillness between you. After a while, you could feel his head shift slightly, and before you knew it, Arthur had drifted off, his forehead gently resting on your shoulder. His breathing was steady, relaxed, and it felt like time had slowed.
You sat there for a moment, frozen in place, your heart skipping a beat as you processed what had just happened. He’d come all this way to see you, even though you knew he must have been exhausted from the day. It was such a small thing, yet it felt so meaningful, the fact that he’d chosen to spend his time with you like this, on a whim, late at night.
You smiled softly, feeling content in the quiet warmth of the moment. Your heart felt light, as though everything had somehow clicked into place. Right now, in this moment, you were so happy. So, so happy.
But just as you were getting lost in the moment, the door to your room creaked open slightly, and Emma stepped inside, her eyes scanning the room before landing on the scene in front of her.
Her gaze immediately widened, her mouth falling open in disbelief as she took in the sight of Arthur, sound asleep, nestled up to you. You could see the shock on her face as she froze for a moment, eyes flicking from you to Arthur and back again.
“What the fuck?” she whispered under her breath, unable to hide the teasing tone creeping into her voice. Her eyes sparkled mischievously, and you could hear the smirk in her voice, despite her quiet words.
You couldn’t help the embarrassment that rushed to your cheeks as you tried to adjust your position, trying not to disturb Arthur, but Emma was already too caught up in the moment.
“Seriously?” she teased, a playful laugh slipping past her lips. “This is after all the times you’ve said he’s been ‘distant’ or ‘acting weird?’”
You rolled your eyes, trying to suppress your grin. “Emma, don’t,” you muttered, feeling your face heat up even more. You had no idea how to explain this, or what to even say to her. It was all too much, too fast, Arthur had just fallen asleep, and now your flatmate was witnessing it firsthand.
Emma’s teasing gaze softened a little as she took in the sight of you two, Arthur all curled up against you, the peacefulness in the room.
“I mean, hey,” she said, still grinning, but with a more relaxed tone now. “I’m not mad about it. But damn, you two are like a walking rom-com.”
You couldn’t help but laugh quietly, glancing down at Arthur, who was still sleeping soundly, oblivious to the conversation happening around him. “I didn’t expect this either,” you replied, feeling a little sheepish.
Emma leaned against the doorframe, her teasing smirk softening as she studied the two of you. “Well, whatever’s going on here, I hope you two figure it out,” she said quietly, her voice much more sincere now. She shot you one last glance before walking out, leaving you and Arthur in the soft stillness of the room, as the weight of the evening settled around you.
You woke up slowly, feeling the soft warmth of the morning light filtering through the window. At first, everything seemed peaceful, your mind still hazy with the remnants of sleep. You shifted a little, and then realized with a small start that Arthur had moved in the night. He was now lying down on your bed, still curled towards you, his head resting just slightly closer, his breathing deep and steady.
For a moment, you just stared at him, taking in the quiet scene, how peaceful he looked, how natural this felt. It was such an ordinary moment, but it made your heart race. You tried to shake off the odd feeling stirring in your chest, but before you could get too lost in it, you reached over for your phone, which had been placed on the bedside table the night before.
As soon as you unlocked it, the screen flooded with notifications. Your eyes quickly scanned the messages, the urgency from Isaac immediately catching your attention.
“Where are you? We need to get started for filming.”
“Hey, do you know where Arthur is? We’re supposed to be filming for the podcast today.”
A small knot of worry twisted in your stomach. You hadn’t realized how late it was. You’d been so caught up in the comfort of the night before, and now it seemed you were behind on everything. You quickly began typing out a response to Isaac, trying to get everything sorted, when something else caught your eye. A photo message from Emma. You opened it, still feeling a bit disoriented, and froze as you saw the image.
It was a picture of you and Arthur from the night before. You were both asleep, Arthur’s head gently resting on your shoulder, his arms tucked under his body. Your head was tilted slightly towards his, and in the peaceful moment, it seemed as though you had unconsciously moved closer to him while you slept.
You stared at the photo, the image frozen in time, your heart fluttering at the intimacy of it all. You could tell it was taken quietly, probably while Emma was teasing you earlier, and now here it was, capturing a memory that felt strangely vulnerable and sweet. You hadn’t even realized how close you’d gotten in the night, how much of a part of him you’d become.
Suddenly, everything felt a little surreal. The night, the calm closeness, and now, the photo. You couldn’t help but smile to yourself despite the rush of emotions swirling within you.
You looked back at Arthur, still peacefully curled up against you. It was hard to believe just how much had changed between you two in such a short amount of time. You had gone from awkward interactions and confusion to… this.
You quickly shook off the lingering thoughts and turned back to your phone to deal with Isaac’s messages, but your mind kept drifting back to the photo and what it might mean.
Arthur stirred beside you, his brow furrowing slightly as he blinked his eyes open. It took him a second to fully register where he was, and when he did, he sat up quickly, his eyes wide with alarm.
“Shit,” he muttered under his breath, his voice rough with sleep. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to fall asleep. Oh my god, what time is it? Fuck, we should be at the studio already.”
He scrambled to sit up fully, glancing around in a bit of a panic as if the world was suddenly pressing down on him. You watched him with a little amusement, still half-leaning against the bed, your phone now forgotten in your hand.
“Woah, chill, Arthur,” you said, trying to calm him down with a gentle laugh. “It’s okay, we’ll just go later. It’s not a big deal.”
Arthur paused, looking back at you with a slightly embarrassed expression. “I just feel bad,” he admitted quietly, rubbing his hand over his face. “I wasn’t planning to crash like that.”
You shook your head, giving him a reassuring smile. “Honestly, it’s fine. We’ve got time, and no one’s going to be mad if we’re a little late. I think we both needed the rest anyway.”
He let out a deep breath, his shoulders visibly relaxing as he took in what you’d said. “Thanks,” he murmured, and for a moment, there was an odd sort of silence between you two. He seemed like he was about to say something else, but then his eyes met yours for just a second, and he looked away quickly, his face flushing a little.
You tried not to make it weird, but it was hard to ignore the small shift in the air between you. The calmness of the moment, the way he’d been so comfortable lying next to you. You liked it. you liked him next to you. You liked everything about him. But still, you knew he didn’t like you, does he?
“Alright,” Arthur said with a nervous laugh, trying to change the subject. “So, what should we do? Film later?”
You shrugged, feeling a bit of the awkwardness lift. “Yeah, that sounds good,” you said, trying to keep it casual, even though part of you couldn’t help but wonder where this… thing between the two of you was headed.
Arthur stood up from your bed, stretching as he yawned, clearly still half-asleep but more awake than before. He ran a hand through his disheveled hair and glanced at you, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I should probably head back to mine,” he said, his voice quieter now, still tinged with that sleepiness. “I need to shower and change before we head to the studio.”
You nodded, understanding. “Yeah, no problem. Take your time. I’ve told Isaac we can meet at 2, you’ve got a bit before we need to be there anyway.”
Arthur smiled at that, though there was a hint of hesitation in his eyes, like he was considering something. “You sure you’re okay? I don’t want to leave things awkward.”
You shook your head, offering him a reassuring smile. “Everything’s fine, really. Go get ready. I’ll be here.”
He nodded, though you noticed he seemed a little unsure. There was a brief moment of silence before he grabbed his jacket off the back of your chair and made his way to the door.
“Alright, I’ll see you in a bit,” he said, still sounding a little off-kilter. But before he left, he turned to you with a small smile. “Thanks for letting me crash here, by the way.”
You grinned back at him, trying to keep it light. “No problem, anytime.”
With that, Arthur stepped out the door, leaving you with a sense of loneliness in the room. You let out a quiet breath, trying to shake the slightly awkward vibe that had lingered in the air after his sudden departure. Part of you couldn’t help but wonder what would happen when he came back, whether things would feel the same or if the relationship between the two of you would have changed in some way.
As the door closed behind him, you grabbed your phone again, checking the time, getting ready for your own day. You’d already gone through a whirlwind of emotions this morning, and you weren’t sure what would come next, but for some reason, you just miss Arthur already. Really miss him.

Second Round - Day One (3PO) 3 of 3
Tumblr media
@lostinsixam, @igglemouse, @simstagramsomeone, @daedriyth, @ashubii, @simscici
Tumblr media
Lara: Thank you, thank you! Just wait for my next comeback! *laughs*
Abigail: *shocked* Wha-HOW?! Is this real life?
Lara: Whether it’s luck or talent, I really put a lot of effort into it! As did you Abby
Tumblr media
Abigail: I just wish I was in a better mood today
Lara: I'm sorry. We only get one date this round so I hope you feel better by your turn
Abigail: Maybe I'll grab a snack
Tumblr media
Lara decided she wanted to go to the beach for her solo date.
Deanna: Do you think you're mostly lucky or unlucky?
Lara: Just being here already makes me feel super lucky, honestly! *laughs*
Deanna: Such a compliment *winks* What's the luckiest or unluckiest thing that has ever happened to you?
Lara: If I had to pick a memorable moment, it would be the time I accidentally set one of the DJ equipment pieces on fire. I was still pretty new at it, and a friend had kindly given me the chance to play at one of his shows. But after the DJ booth caught fire, the party turned into complete chaos. Luckily, it was an open-air venue and no one got hurt… so in the end, I guess I was lucky after all, right?
Tumblr media
Deanna: Can we get deep for a bit? My family believe in the watcher but I know not everyone does. Do you believe in fate, you know, destiny? Or do you think we're all at the mercy of some watcher?
Lara: I like to believe that we’re truly free to choose what we want to do, when, and how we want to do it
Deanna: Can I ask what makes you believe that?
Lara: The idea of a pre-written destiny for my life feels a bit limiting. It’s a romantic notion, sure, but I’d rather choose who I’m going to love than live in the uncertainty of whether someone out there is the one
Tumblr media
Deanna: Say you can live anywhere. Where would you live?
Lara: Hmm... definitely San My. I love the big city vibe! The lights, the busy routine, the parties… But Tomarang is really charming too, and I’ve heard the night market is a major highlight. So I think I’d choose to live there as well! Oops, I picked two worlds *laughs*. I’m a bit indecisive... there are just so many fun and amazing places to live!
Tumblr media
Deanna: I have to say I like being in Tartosa because it's close to my family
Lara: I wouldn’t mind living in Tartosa or somewhere nearby. After all, we can always travel to other places for vacation, right?
Deanna: I could be persuaded to move if it was to somewhere stable, not constant packing and unpacking
Lara: Respecting that you don't like to travel much,I’m okay with that too. Traveling occasionally for vacations is normal and even healthy, but even I couldn’t handle traveling all the time. To give you an idea, I don’t go to concerts that are far from where I live; the ones nearby are a whole different story! *laughs*
Tumblr media
Abby has picked the park for her date this round.
Deanna: Do you think you're mostly lucky or unlucky?
Abby: *smiles awkwardly* Well... let's just say if luck favors the bold, then I'm 100% unlucky.
Deanna: What's the unluckiest thing that has ever happened to you then?
Abby: I once tried to prank my sister by putting hair dye in the shampoo bottle, but then I forgot about it, and went to take a shower that night... Let's just say cheese yellow is not my color.
Deanna: *laughing* Oh no! Cheese yellow is the worst
Tumblr media
Deanna: Can we get deep for a bit? My family believe in the watcher but I know not everyone does. Do you believe in fate, you know, destiny? Or do you think we're all at the mercy of some watcher?
Abby: I don't believe in destiny, not the mercy of some Watcher
Deanna: Can I ask what makes you believe that?
Abby: Not because I don't think is impossible, but because the thought of someone else having control over my own life freaks me out. So yeah, I prefer to believe we create our own destiny.
Tumblr media
Deanna: Say you can live anywhere. Where would you live?
Abby: Nordhaven, for sure, it has such a cool vibe without being too much like a big city. But honestly, any Simrope world would be fine by me.
Tumblr media
Deanna: I have to say I like being in Tartosa because it's close to my family. I could be persuaded to move if it was to somewhere stable though
Abby: I get it. I too like being close to my sister, and even my friends. The idea of being constantly on the move isn't appealing to me either. So I think finding a place that we both feel good about, and puts us on equal grounds is key here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the dates concluded it's skill time back at the villa. The contestants get four hours today to focus on a skill of their choice. Kennedy and Lara both choose to work on their charisma. Hedging her bets Abby chooses to study fitness. Getting more specific Kay, Callie and Jerrica all pick studying rock climbing.
Tumblr media
While Deanna is prepping food for everyone I catch up with her about the dates.
Devin: Last round you had to wait and wait for a date with Lara. You get it first this time
Deanna: *smiling* it was nice to spend time with her and Abby. Abby in particular impressed me
Devin: Oh?
Deanna: I know she woke up sad and she was a bit gloomy on the date BUT she pushed through it. She was chatting and flirting despite her mood which felt nice
Devin: Any sentiments?
Deanna: *sad sigh* Not this time. I mean friendship and romance increased but they weren't gold level dates
Tumblr media
Deanna fixed everyone dinner. At this point autonomy is set to full again. Deanna will not start conversations, it's up to contestants. Deanna is locked out of all bedrooms but the rest will have access to beds for sleeping and computer distractions.
Tumblr media
The group is so quiet I check twice that I did in fact toggle on full autonomy. No one talks to anyone while they eat… maybe they've run out of goodwill for the day?
Tumblr media
Deanna: I just want to say, I know you didn't technically win but I loved your song
Kennedy: Shucks
Deanna: I'm sure one of the challenges will go your way
Kennedy: *blushes* Thanks
Abby: *gets even sadder*
Lara: *decides to comfort eat extra fruit salad*
Tumblr media
Kennedy goes to bed early, followed soon by Callie. After doing the dishes Jerrica goes to play on a computer, so does Kay. I guess they all really didn't want to talk. Abby talks! To herself… in the mirror… to cheer herself up so she's excused from the odd behaviour.
Tumblr media
Lara: De, can we talk
Deanna: Sure. What's up?
Lara: I'm just feeling bad about our date. I know it didn't go as well as it could have
Deanna: Everyone has off days. And hey we still got closer
Lara: We did! But umm... I wondered if I could try out another song?
Lara serenades Deanna who swoons. Maybe they didn't have a mindblowing date but let's not forget Lara has a solid lead at this point. Although with her solo date for the round done other contestants have room to shine.

“Unchain me?” — Lara Croft.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lara X fem!reader.
Warnings: subby lara SUBBY LARA, cunnilingus, lara is tied to a bed, cursing, slight hitting? Maybe? Let me know if I missed anything.
I finally finished this I’m so sorry 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️
“You really are gonna torture me like that huh?” Lara gasps breathlessly, trying to break free from the handcuffs she was in on the bed.
Her sight like that, with you between her legs, watching as she was writhing and squirming and begging for your touch was making you dazed, her pussy glistening and begging to be devoured
But you wanted to wait, hardly.
“Fuck baby please… touch me.” Lara breathed, her hips bucking up as your hands touched down her toned stomach, making her breathe even heavier. “Yeah that’s good… more please.. ah thank you baby.” She adds, desperately trying to get you to touch the ache between her legs.
“Please eat me— eat me out please, I need you.” Lara stuttered, her sweat breaking out between her perfect breasts and her forehead, making you lean in and give her plump lips a kiss.
She melted into it, feeling herself leaking into the mattress, moaning into your mouth. Begging repeatedly through the kiss. “Please baby please..”
“You’re so pretty.” You giggle at how adorable she was, she’s so out of it, her eyes half closed, her mouth hung open. Your hands found their way to her breasts and squeezed them gently, making her arch her back into your touch.
Her moans were incoherent, she made no sense whatsoever as she was dying for you to touch her where she wanted you to, she whined desperately, trying to move her hips for any friction.
“Love… please.” Lara gasps out again, her lips finding your cheek as you lean in to kiss her neck, giggling at how desperate she was.
“Okay okay… Only because you asked so nicely, such a pretty girl.” You mumbled, keeping her legs spread.
She chuckled, leaning forward as soon as you adjusted her legs on the mattress, your lips wrapping around the throbbing bud, devouring it as Lara’s sounds filled the entire bedroom.
“Shh..” you pinched her thigh as she tensed up, “fuck—“ she bucked her hips into your mouth, your nose bumping into her clit as she let out an incoherent sentence, You held her hips on the bed to keep her down.
“Baby please—!” She bucked her hips again but you wouldn’t have it so you slapped her thigh. “Don’t fucking push me.” You warned, causing her breath to hitch, squeezing her eyes shut, her bangs plastered to her forehead from all the sweating, she was a gorgeous mess.
You waited for a moment before your mouth was enveloping her all over again, she was so desperate, and tasted so good. “I love you.” You moaned into her pussy, the vibrations sending a lick of pleasure into her core, making her mewl your name into the pillow, writhing and squirming as the chains rattled into the metal headboard.
“Gonna cum—“ Lara stuttered, she barely made any sense, but you understood her perfectly, and you knew she was too pent up to last any longer, gushing all she had on your tongue, opening your mouth to drink her up, licking her clean.
“Not so bossy now are you?” You teased, moving your head upwards to capture her lips with yours, she could barely kiss back either, completely fucked out.
She whimpered, catching her breath as soon as you pulled away, “it felt good— after all this teasing.” She breathed, her eyes opening as you wiped the sweat off her forehead mixed with her fringe.
“Hm.. you took it like a champ.” You teased again, Kissing her forehead, “unchain me please?” She huffed, getting very impatient.
“So bossy.”

The Seventh Star - Chapter 4 - Katseye x 7th member reader
All right reserved
3,6 k
Warnings : none
Notes : Thanks for reading it ! I appreciate a lot your support :)
I hope that my spanish translation was not too bad but I don't know anything about this language, I learned German in school lol.
Also I can't wait for the new EP, what did you think of the teasing of Gabriela so far ??
And for what romance are you rooting for in this story ?
Tumblr media
The following weeks flew by, ideas for Katseye's first EP flowing, training sessions in quick succession.
The seven members woke up, trained, ate and fell asleep in the prospect of this first project.
It was only after a month of hard work following that famous movie night that the company granted us a rare blessing : one full night without schedules.
No vocal lessons. No dance practice. No interviews. Just rest.
But in Katseye's shared house, "rest" translated to blankets tossed across the living room, takeout containers, skin care routines, and one chaotic Spotify queue controlled (to everyone's dismay) by Yoonchae.
I sat cross-legged on the floor, wearing Megan's oversized hoodie and my own fleece pajama shorts, cheeks rosy from laughing too hard.
"I swear I didn't know that dance move meant that in France!" Yoonchae shouted over the music.
"You literally mimed a baguette fight !" Manon cried, throwing a pillow.
Yoonchae ducked and wheezed, "A baguette fight sounds kind of iconic though?"
Sophia padded out from the kitchen with popcorn. "No food fights. Please. I'm serious."
"You say that every time, and we never listen," Lara said, deadpan from the beanbag she refused to leave.
"What should we do then?" asks Daniela.
"I suggest a sleepover !" suggests Megan, overexcited with that adorable golden retriever look.
This announcement is followed by many enthusiastic exclamations from us
"We should do a snack tasting !" I suggest.
" 100% with you y/n !  And we should play a game of truth or dare! It's been a long time since we've had a gossip session !" adds Lara, wrapping her arms around me tightly.
Then I notice over Lara's shoulder that Megan is staring at us with an odd frown on her face. When she meets my gaze, I give her a playful smile that makes her blush slightly, then she looks away towards Yoonchae and Sophia, who are debating how to start the evening.
Daniela, tired of their dispute finally announced "Girls, I propose we ask the voice of wisdom aka Manon to decide where to start."
" À toi l'honneur Manon " I tell her in French
" Girlssssss please include us, we don't speak French" complains Sophia."
She's just told me 'enlighten us with your brilliant mind Great and magnificent Manon' " replies Manon, with a teasing smile on her lips."
Yeah sure, we believe you..."
I then gesture Sophia closer to me so I can whisper the translation in her ear :
"I just told her to do the honours "
"Okay, thanks Google Translate"
" Your Google Translate" I reply with a wink.
Just as we're bursting out laughing, Daniela breaks the bubble we've been cocooned in to tell us coldly :
" Manon has voted for a film, come sit down and keep your voice down so we can get on with it "
I give her a confused look, surprised by her sudden change in behaviour, but she doesn't look me in the eye and turns away to settle down on the sofa.
***
As the group settled, legs tangled across blankets, Megan queued up a movie none of them would actually finish.
I found myself beside Daniela, surprisingly. She's standing very straight and tense, and seems to be avoiding any physical contact with me as we squeeze onto the sofa in the living room.
But as the film progresses, tiredness seems to take possession of her and she settles more comfortably on the couch. Her right arm is pressed to mine, and I suddenly find it harder to concentrate on the film than on the feel of her warm skin against mine.
The older girl didn't say much—but halfway through the movie, she whispered, "Your harmony in the last rehearsal. You shifted the minor note right before I did."
I nodded, eyes still on the screen. "I was matching you."
Daniela exhaled, then said, quietly : "That was good."
I turned, surprised by the softness in her voice.
"I didn't say it earlier," Daniela added. "I should've."
For the first time, I didn't feel like I had to brace myself when Daniela spoke.
"You're still intense," I said with a smile.
Daniela smirked. "And you're still kinda quiet. But it's a powerful kind of quiet."
" Uh thanks.. "
Then she winks at me and turn her eyes back to the screen.
I then settled myself more comfortably against Daniela, relieved to have broken the tension with her, at least for now...
***
As credits rolled, Megan climbed onto the couch arm dramatically.
"Alright, I propose a sleepover tradition," she declared. "Everyone goes around and shares one secret. No skips. No filters."
"No trauma dumping," Sophia added, sipping her tea.
Megan winked. "I said secret, not therapy."
Yoonchae was first. "I used to have a hamster named Beyoncé. She escaped and lived in our walls for three weeks."
"A good start for Yoonchae ! But a little less for her hamster" says Megan with a false look of despair that makes me smile.
Then Lara added : "I wear perfume before I go to sleep. Always. Cause we never know"
Everyone bursts out laughing at this answer, catching my breath, I exclaim:
" Cause we never know what ?"
"I don't know, if someone decides to wake me up or my alarm goes off and I don't have time to get ready. You never know what can happen during the night" replies Lara, who tries to keep a straight face.
" Who is next ?" Manon asks
"I almost quit right before the finale."
There was a ripple of surprise at Daniela's words.
"But then I saw all of you," she added, "and decided to stay."
" It's actually pretty sweet of you " Lara beamed
" I'd say very rare, "  Megan teases gently, earning herself a slap on the shoulder from Daniela.
" But we're glad you stayed",  adds Yoonchae in an adorable tone.
" Time for group hug ! " screamed Sophia
We execute in a chaotic way, me reaching Megan with my left arm, my head in the crook of Daniela's neck while Lara crushes my ribs. Yoonchae is the first to free herself, pretending to catch her breath.
" Enough hugging for today guys. Did someone want to continue ? "
Manon answer briefly : "I was jealous of y/n at first."
I blinked. "What?"
"You walked in like you belonged. I felt threatened. I'm not proud of it."
My heart thudded, but I smiled softly. "Thank you for saying that. I appreciate that you're honest with me"
"Y/n?" Manon calls out to me, "I hope you know that I absolutely don't think that anymore today, I'm so happy to have you with us and so happy to have someone to speak French with".
"Yes I know that" I reply, and even if I had trouble believing it some months ago, the sincerity in the Swiss woman's eyes convinces me.
" What about you  Meg ? Any mysterious secret that you want to share with us ?" Lara asks jokingly
"My secret?" she said, gazing across us, letting her gaze stay on me a little longer. "I'm not as sure of myself as I act. Sometimes I play the confident one because if someone doesn't, we all spiral."
I reached out and squeezed her hand. "It helps. Knowing that you hold us together. But you don't need to,  you don't need to neglect your feelings, you know you can rely on us... on me," I finish my sentence in a whisper.
Megan gave me a small smile. "Yeah, cause I don't just want to hold you up. I want you to rise with us."
"And you will."  Manon adds
My turn came last.
" So, I don't really know what to tell you..."
" Are you sure? I think you can find something." Manon argues
"Okay, so it's not necessarily a surprise for you, but the first few days in this group weren't necessarily easy, because being the seventh element, the surprise element, was pretty heavy and I had a lot of trouble coping with that."
The girls all look at me with a patience and silence that is rare in our group. Megan gives me an encouraging look.
"It wasn't easy, but I'm glad I had you by my side, that we were able to overcome our differences and that we're now so close. I'm so glad I was able to live this experience with each and every one of you, and I wouldn't have liked to have done it with anyone but you. "
"Thank you for telling us all this, it means a lot to us" Lara breaks the emotional silence that has followed my sentence, then moves towards me to give me another hug
" Well, you're definitely a fan of cuddling tonight," I laugh, clumsily wiping a tear from my cheek.
" Hmm, yes I wanted you to notice a few things."
At my questioning look, she adds, much less loudly this time.
"Look around you, these girls love you, more or less in the same way."
I look up and fall on Megan's tender gaze ; the chaotic amusement I often find in Sophia's gaze is here more serious yet strangely affectionate ; Daniela's eyes flick between me and Lara's arms around my shoulders and are filled with an expression I don't want to, well, can't understand.
As for Manon and Yoonchae, their looks are different, and I get the impression, just like with Lara, that we have a kind of unspoken understanding that's more like a sisterly relationship.
"What if we did something less serious? " offers Yoonchae
"Like what?"
"A never I ever? "
"I didn't think you'd be the one to suggest that," I say to Yoonchae with amusement.
"I'm a girl full of surprises !"
***
We then move to Daniela and Manon's room to make ourselves more comfortable together, creating a sort of giant bed with the two girls' mattresses.
We then settle into a circle, each with a glass in hand and in between us a trio of drinks consisting of iced tea, Coke and a simple bottle of water, as we're not really allowed to have alcohol in the house, let alone on the eve of a training session.
We fill our glasses quietly and chat happily, and I'm sitting between Manon and Lara when the latter clears her throat before addressing the group like a TV presenter :
" So, who wants to be the first to ask THE question that will reveal the true nature of each of us ?"
She then looks each of us straight in the eye, so seriously that I'm almost afraid she's reading my mind.
Seeing that no one is stepping forward, Lara drops the sash.
"Well, what do you have to ask us... Dani ?"
"Sólo hablo español, no puedo comenzar, lo siento..." (I only speak Spanish, I can't start, I'm sorry...) Dani announces in Spanish, and even though I don't speak the language, I understand where she is going with this and smile slightly as I observe Lara's reaction.
Indeed, she looks confidently at Daniela before replying in approximate Spanish
"Buen intento... Pero no te preocupes, podemos entenderte. Puedes empezar. "(Nice try... But don't worry, we can understand you. You can start.)
"Ok I surrender, I tried. Well done Lara, I'm impressed ! "
"I know I'm your best student,  unlike your dear roommate," brags Lara, sticking her tongue out at Manon.
"Are you kidding..."
"DON'T FIGHT" suddenly shouts Sophia, making us all jump. Seeing our looks of incomprehension, she adds in a small voice, "I'm sorry guys, let's move on, Dani what's your suggestion ?"
" Never have I ever had a crush on one of my teacher." Dani starts.
I don't touch my glass, watching the girls' reactions. Daniela, Sophia and Lara drink their glasses eagerly, while Megan and Yoonchae are a little more hesitant before taking a sip.
I turn to Manon to give her a high five :
"Not suspicious team ! "
"Yeahhhh "
" If anything, you're the suspicious ones, who's never had a crush on one of their teachers? You've got to keep busy during classes" Daniela accuses us.
We all burst out laughing before an idea strikes me. I turn to Yoonchae and ask :
" Wait, Yoonchae, have you just been drinking ? Tell us the story ! "
"Hmm, It's kinda embarrassing" she replies, her cheeks turning a deep shade of red.
"We're here for it" Lara encourages her.
"Ok... So, you see our dance teacher at Dream Academy ? He was always helping me with difficult part of the choreo..."
"Yoonchae ! You hid this from us !" exclaims an indignant Sophia.
"You'd have teased me to death if I had. Besides, I didn't hide it from everyone, Megan knew."
Sophia mimes a broken heart and wipes away invisible tears, Yoonchae although not a fan of physical contact leans in to hug her with a guilty expression. Sophia smiles at this interaction before speaking again.
"Well after revealing your high treason, can you suggest something YC ?"
"Never have I ever been in a fight."
I take a big sip of my iced tea and cast a conspiratorial glance at Manon, who is also drinking. I also spot Dani and Lara taking a sip.
"Did you fight to protect your America's Got Talent boyfriend Dani ?" asks Megan teasingly .
"That story again," she rolls her eyes with a smile, then adds, "No, it was for a friend from middle school who was getting bullied by some stupid boys on the street."
" Wow Dani, that's impressive, your future boyfriend or girlfriend will be very lucky ! " says Lara admiringly.
"Lara I'm straight but yeah I can get very protective if necessary. So don't forget to call me girls".
She winks at Manon, who pretends to faint, then adds.
"What about you y/n? In what context did you get into a fight ?"
"It was at the beginning of high school, I got into a fight with this boy in my class because he was in love with the same girl as me and he suggested this fight to decide between us. Except that I didn't really take it very well that he saw her as a trophy to be won, so I fought harder than I should have. Result: we both ended up in the nurse's office, but you should have seen his face ! " I finish proudly
"Well ! You should start a Dani and Y/n boxing club," Sophia suggested.
"That's a deal." Dani responds, turning to shake my hand, then adds with a smirk "We can practice hand-to-hand together."
I choke slightly on my drink and start coughing, my cheeks flushed. Sophia pats me gently on the back as Megan asks :
"What happened with that girl after that fight ? Did you two get together ?"
"Nope, she was straight" I reply sadly.
"A universal experience..." sighs Lara.
"Oh I'm sorry about that" Megan gives me a sympathetic smile.
"Your turn Megan !" Yoonchae adds, moving on to a lighter topic.
"Ok, this is kinda a weird question but I want to understand some stuff. Never have I ever eaten food that's been on the ground for more than 3 seconds, on the street."
No one drinks, we all stare at Megan in astonishment before Sophia decides to take a cautious sip. At her confused expression, we burst out laughing.
"It's a debate I had with Soph a few weeks ago and to her it was normal to do that even though there's the 3 second rule and it's dirty on the floor and it looked so normal to her that I felt like an alien. Anyway, I thought about it all weekend afterwards, but now I'm fixed," Megan continues at full speed.
"It's so random, I love you Megan" I say, laughing.
Megan then interrupts her flow of words, looks at me with a positively surprised expression, then lowers her head, smiling to herself, almost as if she were alone in the room.
"An unexpected declaration ! " adds Manon.
"Stop it, you know what I meant" I defend myself, suddenly very embarrassed and aware of how all the girls are looking at me.
In an attempt to change the subject, I try an approach: "Okay, I'm getting thirsty, so here's a suggestion : Never Have I Ever said I love you by accident".
I drink as Megan and Yoonchae do. I'm deep in thought as the girls discuss our answers. When Sophia suggests Never Have I Ever smoked weed, I don't drink my glass and think of Megan and her actions towards me since the beginning of Katseye and even during Dream Academy, all the gentle looks, the reassuring words, the smell of the clothes she keeps sharing with me, the pride with which she defended me.
Then I think of Daniela, her changing character towards me, sometimes cold and mocking, sometimes encouraging and tactile. I think back to our boxing discussion earlier, not quite able to decipher what I'm feeling.
My gaze then falls on Sophia, who is laughing out loud at something Megan has just said. She's always been kind to me in this group, always considerate and attentive to my needs. But she does that for the rest of the group too, doesn't she ?
My thoughts are interrupted by Lara, who in turn speaks up:
"Never Have I ever kissed someone of the same gender".
The girls' expressions are amused as they all take a sip, with the exception of Daniela and Yoonchae.
A long discussion about our sexualities begins, with Lara first, then Megan, who talks openly about her bisexuality, before Manon explains why she prefers to identify herself as queer.
As for me, I express my sexuality with the simple statement "I'm for the girls".
The atmosphere is comfortable and conducive to open discussion, with even Yoonchae and Daniela taking an active part.
***
As the night deepened, the room turned quieter. A few girls dozed off mid-conversation. The lights were dimmed.
I slipped away to the kitchen to find some silence. My chest had started to ache—not painfully, just that quiet, lingering ache of someone absorbing too much emotion all at once.
I wrapped my arms around myself .
Then a soft rustle behind me. It was Sophia.
She carried two blankets.
"You looked overwhelmed," she said gently.
I didn't answer right away. Just nodded, grateful.
Sophia wrapped one of the blanket around my shoulders, then leaned against the counter beside her.
"I used to be as confused as you are," she said. " I know how sharp the silence can feel when you're not sure of your feelings."
My throat tightened.
" I have to confess that I'm not quite sure where I stand. In my feelings, in this group..." I admitted.
"You don't have to worry about the group. You just have to show up. And you do. Every single day."
Sophia looked at me, eyes soft but grounded. "Y/n ... you belong. Not because some fans said so. Because we see you."
That broke something in me. Not in a painful way—but like a lock clicking open.
"Thank you," I whispered.
We remain silent for a few seconds. Then I cut the silence by asking Sophia
"I've got a sudden mugcake craving,  you're in?"
"Of course I am ! "
I take two huge mugs out of the cupboard and watch as Sophia gathers the ingredients.
We work in harmony, I whistling lightly as I crack the eggs while Sophia breaks the chocolate with precision. Once the chocolate is melted, we add the rest of the ingredients, but just as I'm about to add flour rather randomly, Soph interrupts me :
"Be careful ! Don't add too much, you need exactly 2 ounces".
"What's that ? I'm European Soph, I measure in grams."
She grabs the flour packet that was in my hands and precisely weighs the amount into our mugs before handing mine back to me.
"Voilà ! Now all we have to do is heat them up. "
As our mug cakes cook in the microwave, I turn to Sophia :
" Why all this attention to quantity ? You made it sound like it was a super-serious affair for you."
"Yes, sorry, I overacted a bit..." she says, nervously touching the back of her neck "It's just that I'm used to making them with my family and we've always been used to a particular recipe with specific quantities. But I promise it's going to be a blast !"
" I believe you Soph" I add softly
We continue chatting comfortably in the kitchen, until the sound of the microwave brings us back to reality.
***
Satisfied with my mugcake, I return to the bedroom. Seeing an empty spot next to Megan, I make my way over to her.
"Hey you" she said softly
"Hey Meg, I made some mugcake do you wanna try ?"
" Yeah sure, thanks"
I hand her one of the two spoons I've brought before placing the mugcake between us.
" A craving for a mugcake in the middle of the night ?" she asks me maliciously.
"Yes it makes one hungry to share our darkest secrets" I add with a laugh.
"Thanks for thinking of bringing me a spoon".
"You're welcome Meg, I heard that you like chocolate mugcake so you might as well enjoy it, especially since I stole your sweatshirt again"
She details me from head to toe, then gives me an intense look before taking her spoon and dipping it into the cake hungrily.
We then eat our mugcake peacefully, commenting on the actions of Yoonchae and Lara in the middle of a pillow fight.
As Yoonchae throws a particularly petty pillow punch into Lara's face, I feel Megan's gaze on me and turn my head.
"Hmm you've got flour in your hair."
She gently brings her hand to my hair to remove the flour Sophia threw at me earlier, she avoids my gaze, her cheeks flushed.
" Thanks Meg."
"You're welcome..."
The girls then decide to turn off the big lights and tell each other scary stories about what some Kpop stars have supposedly become.
After a few stories, I feel tired and my need to fall asleep increases so I ask Megan with a pout
"Can we cuddle please? I'm falling asleep."
" Oh yeah sure " she answers
She puts her arms ankwardly around me and when I let out a little laugh she relaxes too.
Eventually I fall asleep, all too comfortably wrapped up in Megan's arms, with Sophia's "scary" voice and the laughter of the rest of the girls in the background.
I finally feel at home.

On the drive to the café, you assured your manager you would make sure you all show up to the studio on time. In the black corvette you got from your parents as a gift for your 18th after winning a Golden Globe. Dressed in a grey sweater, a navy MLB cap on backwards, some camo sweats, and some ice, you were definitely dressed more on the comfort-casual side. You knew you were going to be thrown in so many different styles and getups for the day, you needed some relief.
You hadn’t even noticed your heart drumming against your chest until you turned into the last corner the café was on. You usually concealed emotions well, especially when it came to meeting different kinds of people. It was your job to be able to put up a front, but the sound of your heart racing against in your ear was drowning out the sound of the radio.
The café you wanted to go to was frequented by Californian stars, you knew their security personnel was good enough for you to have a private first meeting.
When you parked, you checked yourself in the mirror, yanking your phone out of its holder. You texted your manager a quick message informing him of your arrival before getting out the car. Sophia had texted you they had arrived a couple minutes ago, so you’d assumed they had gotten a seat for themselves. When you entered the coffee shop, you were greeted by the barista you had the pleasure of befriending after many trips here for a snack early before a flight or late after a shoot.
“Hey, y/n, good to see you.” Yeonjun called. He grabbed a paper cup, flipping it in-air before holding a pen to its “I got your usual coming up. Want a bite today?”
You hummed, “Yeah, an eclair would be great. I’m actually here to meet a couple new friends, YJ. Did you happen to see a group of pretty women walking in here?”
He nodded, gesturing towards the back. “Around the cut, I got them a table out of view. Figured it was important.”
You shot him a smile. “Thanks. $30 in the jar for you.”
You stuffed a couple notes in the tip jar, giving him a wink. He chuckled, shaking his head. “You spoil me.”
When you circled around back to the VIP section of this café, it was criminal how fast your eyes scouted the group out of the few people sitting. When they spotted you, Sophia was first to stand, meeting you in the middle for a brief hug.
“Oh my God, y/n! It’s so nice to finally meet you.”
You smiled at her, “Yeah, likewise. Damn, you guys are crazy tall.” You joked, glancing between all six of them. They were a good couple inches taller than you, but their bright smiles and vibrant clothing gave them a softer, friendlier edge. “And more beautiful than your pictures, which I didn’t think was possible.”
They’re all stunning in their own way—each with a presence that demands attention—but one of them catches your eye almost immediately. Her tall, dark and mysterious aura seemed to intrigue you—just like she had when you saw her pictures.
She’s standing just a few feet away, her posture confident but not overbearing. There's an easy grace to her movements as she adjusts something on her wrist, her attention momentarily focused on fixing the crooked bracelet as Manon and Sophia bombarded you with words. Yet, as soon as her gaze shifted to meet yours, it broke through your professional exterior, you glanced down, swallowing thickly to regather your composure. You looked up, feeling Daniela push herself forward between the two eldest members of the group.
“Honey, we are absolutely obsessed with you.” she grinned, tilting her head. She was rather affectionate, loud when she was excited. You could see why your friends recommended texting her to break the ice. “When we found out we would be working with you, I almost broke my phone.”
“Spoiler alert, she did break her phone.” Megan snorted, earning an exaggerated glare from Daniela.
As they bickered about, you found your nerves easing at the chaotic energy these girls brought. Without the supervision of their manager, they were rather unfiltered, and that made you a lot more comfortable. Still, your attention split between the narrative and a certain red-headed Scorpio, who had yet to say anything despite being the one you’ve talked to most online.
You found yourself drawn to her. There's something about the way she carried herself—effortless, cool, but with a quiet intensity that felt magnetic. The other members chattered around you, making small talk, but your attention kept slipping back to Lara, who seemed to sense your curious gaze. She offered you a subtle, knowing smile, the kind that makes your heart skip a beat. And that had only ever happened around one other person in your life, a person who loved playing games with you.
"Do y’know anything about the music video?" When she finally spoke, her voice was smooth, velvety, almost teasing, as if she already knew more about you than she let on. It didn’t seem intentional, like that was who she was, who she presented herself to be. It was so attractive, so electrifying.
"No," you managed, your words feeling a little more breathless than you'd like. "My manager didn’t tell me anything.”
Her smile widened just a fraction, her eyes flicking down your outfit before returning to your face. "I think it’s gonna be fun. But you’ll be in and out the changing room a lot today."
Both of you didn’t seem to notice the knowing glances shared among the other five members, before Sophia cleared her throat, changing the topic. “We gotta head to the studio, have you gotten anything to eat yet?”
You nod, the energy between the two of you palpable now, thick with unspoken curiosity. As the others continue talking, you can’t shake the feeling that there’s something more here—a connection, an unspoken understanding—that might make this experience with Katseye something… memorable. And it’s definitely not just the music video you’re thinking about now.
You can’t help but wonder how deep this connection could go.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You just could not stop thinking about Lara. You wanted nothing more than to get to know her better, get to know what was behind those sharp eyes and gated lips. Her confidence was intoxicating, the way her eyes raked you up and down, despite showing no interest over text and obviously having a lot of people she’s talking to on the side.
You had been welcomed by so many respectful staff, given so many gifts and invited into comfortable spaces. Even when you were finally stripped out of your last outfit and lead to a room to wait while Roy and Katseye’s team made a couple arrangements, you couldn’t stop thinking about her.
It was obvious to you there were more eager members of the band who wished for some time alone, but you just wanted to figure her out. As insane as that sounded, you reminded yourself you only began texting this woman for one weekend, and this morning was the first time you’d laid eyes on her.
“Okay, thank you for waiting, y/n.” Grayson, the director of the music video announced when he walked through the door. “It’s an honour to be able to work with you.”
“Likewise,” you replied with a smile, eyeing Sophia behind him.
“So I’ve explained your parts in this music video. You’re the woman these girls have been thinking about, they’re sad, they’re mad, they’re frustrated with you toying with their feelings.” You nodded along to his explanation, “You’ll be filmed rolling your eyes when they call, ignoring them, flirting with other people and stuff but those are standalone scenes. For another part of the video we’re gonna film last, we need you posing in a photo booth with one of the girls like a cute couple, before walking down the street chasing after another woman you saw through the shop window.”
So you were playing the toxic partner in a relationship; that’s a first, you’ve always been on the receiving end.
“So right now, we have the girls lined up and we’ll do a really quick chemistry screening. Sophia’s up first.”
The two of you shared a quick smile, before you were guided towards a table with two cups in front of a camera. You were then told to act like the two of you were on a date. And though Sophia’s bright expression softened the awkward tension at first, it was obvious when the two of you would accidentally move your hands at the same time and apologize quickly.
The director shook his head, “Okay, the two of you look cuter as a friendship, the romance feels forced on screen.”
Sophia nodded, the two of you sharing a couple words making a joke about breaking up before the leader was invited to leave. Then came Manon, and you knew it was going to be a while.

a piercing squeal rang through your car as your best friend, sophia, dramatically placed her hand over her mouth, almost choking on the guyabano juice she was sipping on.
“jesus! i’m gonna crash the car, soph!”
“sorry,” the filipina covered her mouth again, her eyes wide with excitement and surprise. “it’s just– she said what?”
you took a deep breath, gripping the steering wheel a little tighter. “...that i must be really good with my fingers.”
sophia’s jaw dropped once more, bursting into laughter shortly after, setting her juice down into the cup holder. “oh my god, that’s so bold! what’d you reply with?”
you could feel yourself turn into a tomato, recalling the way lara had leaned in closer when she said it. “i mean, i didn’t know how to respond! i was caught off guard! i kinda just said… yeah and nodded?’
“yeah and nodded?” sophia echoed, shaking her head in disbelief. “that’s your big move? what are you, a middle schooler? you could have played it up! ‘oh, you think i’m good with my fingers? wanna find out?’”
“what if she really just meant that i was good with my fingers in like a guitar way though!” you countered, trying to defend yourself. “i don’t wanna just assume that lara swings like that.”
sophia rolled her eyes, a playful smirk on her face. “girl, if she’s leaning in that close like you said, she’s definitely not just talking about your guitar skills.”
“soph, can we not?” you groaned, swatting her arm playfully with your free hand, “this isn’t a rom-com.”
the older girl laughed, leaning back in her seat. “but it totally could be! can you imagine? ‘coming this june: two girls, one guitar, and a whole lot of sexual tension!’”
you couldn’t help but giggle at the thought, your best friend was too unserious. “june? seriously? and god, it was a mistake telling you this, you’re making everything so suggestive!”
there was a moment of silence as you focused on the road, the gentle hum of the car filling the space. then, sophia’s tone shifted, more earnest now. “but really, you need to be more confident, y/n.”
you raise your brow, humming lightly in response, “where’d this come from?”
the filipina grins once more, “as your best friend, with my amazing intuition, i’m telling you right now, y/n. you’ve got a really good chance with lara.”
“and what makes you say that, soph?”
“I’m telling you, best friend things.”
you shoot her a skeptical look, but she continued, her enthusiasm infectious. “seriously! there’s definitely a spark there if everything you’ve told me is true. just be more confident! just be a little flirty and reciprocate the energy, especially when we’re in south korea!”
“south korea?” you raise an eyebrow, laughter escaping you. “how am i supposed to be flirty when i can barely talk around her?’
sophia waved her hand dismissively, her confidence unwavering. “that’s because you’re a hopeless gay, but!” she said, popping the but, “that’s why you have me!”
you shake your head at the playful jab, chuckling lightly. “gee. thanks for the vote of confidence, soph.”
“anytime, y/n.” the older girl laughs, sipping on her guyabano juice once more. “but seriously, just flirt a bit more, it doesn't hurt to tread the waters a bit.”
you hum in response, nodding your head to sophia’s words. the idea of being flirty, especially with lara, felt like a huge jump, but maybe that was exactly what you needed.
with the trip to korea as part of mission two on the horizon, you imagined the possibilities there. maybe you would listen to sophia– after all, what was the worst that could happen?
-
as you stepped into lotte world, the vibrant atmosphere wrapped around you like a warm embrace. the air buzzed with laughter and excitement, the colourful lights of the rides making themself prominent. you glanced around, taking in the sights: families with cotton candy, friends squealing on roller coasters, and couples taking selfies against the backdrop of the stunning castle at the centre of the park.
you couldn’t believe you were actually here, yoonchae made a passing comment about how she wanted to go to lotte world with the rest of dream academy to pd bang, and here you were– actually at lotte world.
you’re pulled out of your thoughts as you hear one of the dream academy supervisors telling you girls to gather up so you could be split into groups.
once everyone was gathered, the supervisor began assigning groups. “you’ll each have some time to explore, take pictures, and enjoy the rides. just make sure to check in around halfway, so around 2 hours!”
your heart skipped a beat when you found out you’d be in a group with lara, sophia, megan, yoonchae, daniela, and manon. it felt like the universe had conspired to create the perfect scenario.
sophia nudged you playfully, “someone got lucky.” she whispered, a teasing smile on her face.
you couldn’t fight the small grin that appeared on your features, excitement bubbling inside you. being in the same group as lara during your day at lotte world was a complete godsend. as the supervisor wrapped up the instructions, your gaze wandered off to lara, who already had her eyes on you. she gave you a small smile, almost smirking at the way your eyes widened when you caught her gaze.
“let’s go explore!” daniela exclaimed, already pulling out her phone to capture the moment. the group erupted in agreement, and you fell into step beside lara as everyone began to move.
“where to first?” sophia asked, bouncing on her heels.
“let’s hit the roller coaster first!” manon suggested.
“you sure you can handle that though?” daniela teased.
“please, i thrive on adrenaline,” manon shot back with gusto.
the roller coaster, a massive structure twisting and turning against the sky, loomed ahead. as you approached, the thrill in the air intensified. the line moved quickly, and before you knew it, you were strapping yourself into the seat beside lara. your heart raced, a mix of anticipation and definitely not because you were so close to lara.
as the coaster climbed higher, you could feel your stomach drop. you glanced at lara, who was practically bouncing in her seat. how was she so excited? you were about to pass out from the thought of the drop.
you swallowed hard, the ascent feeling endless. the clattering of the tracks was nearly drowned out by your heartbeat. with one final lurch, the coaster crested the peak and paused for a heartbeat that felt like an eternity.
then, without warning, you plummeted down, the rush of air hitting you like a wave. lara screamed, but her laughter quickly followed– it was very different from you, who was holding on to dear life as you feared for your own life.
when the ride finally came to a halt, you stumbled out of your seat, breathless and a little winded. “never doing that again…”
lara was doubled over with laughter, her hair tousled from the ride. “you survived! that’s a win!” she said, flashing you a grin that sent your heart racing again. damn, you couldn’t catch a break, could you?
“i think i need a moment you replied, leaning against the railing to steady yourself. the thrill had been exhilarating, but you weren’t sure you were quite ready for another round just yet.
“c’mon y/n!, we’re just getting started!” manon exclaimed, pulling out her phone. “let’s get a group photo!”
as the others gathered around, you couldn’t help but admire the way lara’s eyes sparkled with excitement. when she stepped closer to fit into the frame, your heart skipped again. you leaned in, acting casually, and have a quick smile for the camera as if the butterflies in your stomach weren’t going crazy.
“okay, one, two… cheese!” megan announced, capturing the moment. everyone laughed as they struck silly poses, but you felt a rush of warmth as you noticed lara leaning slightly closer, as if wanting to be part of your space.
“what’s next?” yoonchae asked.
at the korean girl’s question, sophia clapped her hands together, “teacups!”
with no objections, the filipina girl started dragging everyone toward the spinning ride.
honestly, the thought of spinning in circles again made your stomach churn slightly. but the way lara’s eyes lit up at the idea made it hard to resist.
as the group made its way to the teacup ride, you listened in on the group’s conversation. the lighthearted banter making good background noise as you were trying to steady your beating heart.
once at the ride, the vibrant colours of the teacups spun around you, each one more colourful than the last. “ooh, let’s go for that one!” lara suggested.
“sure, let’s go.” you agreed, pointing to a cup adorned in vivid yellows and pinks.
you both climbed in, with lara settled opposite of you so that the weight could be evenly distributed. before you could grab the wheel in the middle, lara beat you to it, a mischievous grin on her face.
“looks like you’re at my mercy now,” lara teased, her fingers already spinning the wheel, the ride starting to move.
“oh no, what have i done?” you laughed, trying to keep your balance as the cup began to spin faster.
the colours blurred around you as lara twisted the wheel with enthusiasm, her laughter mixing with yours. you couldn’t help but feel a thrill, even as your stomach turned slightly from the spinning. “okay, okay! slow down a bit!” you called out, but she just grinned wider.
“not a chance!” she replied, clearly enjoying the chaos.
when the ride finally slowed and came to a stop, you stumbled out, feeling slightly disoriented but better than when you got off the rollercoaster. “you’re absolutely sick” you joked, clutching your stomach.
“i don’t regret anything.” lara giggled, stepping off the ride as well.
with two rides done, the group decided to take a break and grab some snacks. as you walked over to a nearby stall selling cotton candy, you could feel lara’s presence beside you. “getting cotton candy?”
you nodded as response, “yeah, i mean, it’s practically a rule when you’re at an amusement park, right?”
“well, if we’re going by rules, we gotta hit up the haunted house next.” lara grinned.
“sure,” you chuckle, “but try getting the others to say yes to that”
you offer lara a piece of your cotton candy, scanning the crowd. “actually, where is everyone else?” you wondered, noticing that the group somehow drifted apart.
lara shrugged, her mouth full of sugar, “probably off taking pictures or getting more food. let’s just go!’
against your better judgement, you agreed to lara, not wanting to miss out on a chance on actually getting some alone time with her.
as you approached the haunted house, the dark, ominous facade loomed before you. the creepy sounds and flickering lights creating an eerie atmosphere.
“hm, i don’t think it’ll be that bad” you say genuinely.
“famous last words.” lara giggled.
you weren’t joking though, having sophia as your best friend meant that you’d also deal with her interesting fondness for haunted experiences, making you somewhat resistant to haunted houses.
the line moved quickly, and you two were already stepping side the haunted house. the dimly lit entrance was lined with cobwebs, and the air was thick with an unsettling chill and fog. as you went further in, the sounds of eerie whispers and creaking wood surrounded you.
“okay, this is kinda creepy,” you said, trying to sound brave as a particularly loud bang echoed from the depths of the house.
lara laughed, nudging you with her shoulder. “what happened to being all tough and brave?”
you chuckled, trying to brush off the nerves. “well, i might need a little backup. you know, just in case a ghost decides to jump out at me.”
“oh, is that what you’re hoping for?” she teased, her voice playful yet laced with a hint of something deeper. “to get spooked and have me save you?”
“maybe,” you said, glancing at her with a soft smile. feeling bold, you say your next words, thankful for whatever deity above that you didn't trip over your own words.
“but i was thinking more along the lines of a rescue where you pull me close and i, uh, ‘thank’ you later.”
lara stopped in her tracks, her eyes widening with surprise before a grin spread across her face, a light blush dusting across her cheeks as well. “damn, okay y/n, i wasn’t expecting that from you.”
a small grin appears on your face as you watch as lara shakes her head, giggling at your comment.
as you moved deeper into the haunted house, you found yourself brushing against her more frequently. each flicker of light seemed to bring you closer, your shoulders occasionally bumping together as you navigated the tight corridors.
“okay, that’s just a prop,” lara said, pointing at a creepy skeleton hanging from the wall. “but i’d rather– AH!”
just then, a loud blood curdling scream echoed from nearby, causing you to flinch but makes lara jump slightly and yelp.
without thinking, you pull lara closer, wrapping your arm around her waist. the warmth of her body against yours sent a rush of adrenaline through you, eclipsing the fear of the haunted house.
just as quickly as you pulled lara closer though, you let go right away, afraid to have crossed some boundaries.
you felt your heart race as you pulled away, suddenly acutely aware of the closeness you’d just shared. “sorry, i just kinda did it on instinct,” you said, trying to play it cool, but the heat in your cheeks betrayed you.
lara chuckled, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “no need to apologize. i mean, who wouldn’t want to be saved by a sturdy hero like you?”
your breath caught at her choice of words. “oh, so you think i’m sturdy?” you replied, leaning in a little closer, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. “i mean, i guess i… i do have some good qualities.”
you repeated sophia’s words to you like a mantra as you said that. just be confident, but ultimately that failed you for the next part to come.
lara’s gaze met yours, a playful smirk spreading across her face. “definitely. you seem like someone who could hold their own… in more ways than one.”
you swallowed hard, your pulse quickening. “yeah, well, it’s, um, easier to be… reliable? when it’s… y-you know, in a haunted house,” you stuttered, your confidence wavering slightly.
she raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying the moment. “oh, i’m counting on it. i might just need to put that to the test. out of this haunted house of course.”
you took a deep breath, careful not to mess up your next words, but once again failing. “j-just let me know when you, uh, wanna put that to the test, then.”
