Terribly nonspecific post but man does it make me squirm whenever I see some posts on ship wars I have nothing to do with but that for some god damn reason between the lines they feel the need to mention that the romantic reading/route of the relationship is actually totally superior to the platonic one and only a delusional person would think that platonic and romantic relationships can even be comparable and like... I hate it?
Those are other people liking the characters you like- why do you feel the need to make them feel inferior for not vibing with your definition of love. I don't think anyone deserves hate over their ship or love for a fictional man or whatever but that is no reason to shit on people's headcanons about the exact same fictional man just they aren't smooching him in theirs, it's cool if you don't find the platonic relationships comparable but I for one find them often much more interesting and compelling and don't like feeling like I can't be in part of the fictional man fandom just because I don't want him carnally.

@lunadys and I have been talking. And maybe this is controversial, but we've always maintained that the Veil has gotta come down. It's like so many people hear, "The veil is thin here, the Veil thin here." And Sera MOCKING Solas for how much he says that. AND HOW EASY TEARS IN THE VEIL FORM. And somehow, the idea that the Veil is unravelling seems to go over some people's heads.
It is breaking apart. It is in TATTERS by Inquisition. We've been holding it together with ducttape and a dream.
It's like the floor is rotting out beneath us, and he's ripping it up. But everyone is SCREAMING "Where will we walk!" and risking the collapse of the entire house to stop him.
Why are we all so adamant that Solas shouldn't bring it down in a more controlled and humane manner? He outright SAYS there is no other way. He outright SAYS every other option is worse. He wants you to find a better way, but in the nine years since the last game, how has that been going?
Varric went up those stairs trying to get through to Solas. And presented him with the same speech they have been giving Solas for a decade. I think SOLAS might have actually been getting through to Varric. In that hushed conversation.
So when Solas says, "I have taken measures to minimise the damage." And ROOK decided that he wants to know what the worst case scenario will look like first hand, and kicks out the flooring supports.
I am shit scared.
And from the look on Solas' face. So is he.

Do you think Solas could resist influencing a young Lavellan even if he tried?
Here is a young elf suddenly pushed into a position of influence and power and forced to reckon with the reality of becoming the mask. Someone who is part of a culture that means so much to them but that they have to abandon in at least some respect when they become the Herald, and then the Inquisitor.
Solas is a bastard about the Dalish, but he speaks elven and is interested in their history. Like, he's the only one at Haven or Skyhold who gives a shit about elven history until Morrigan shows up.* He's older, more experienced, and offers his opinions and advice on what actions to take. How could a young Lavellan, especially a romanced Lavellan, not be pushed one way or another by his influence? Even a Lavellan that hates him can still criticize him in a way that is unique to their relationship --"Ma banal las halamshir var vhen." They can express frustration with him for failing to give guidance, for failing to be the type of mentor they want him to be.
So when he looks at them, ten years later, how much of himself will he recognize? And how much of his influence will Lavellan still feel on their skin?
*Leliana and Josie are pretty cool about elves, but they aren't exactly interested in the culture or history like Solas and Morrigan are

something something Varric composing and sharing tall tales about Hawke because "that's what history is. the best stories", thus keeping their memory (however twisted it may be) in history something something Solas preserving the Inquisitor's identity, their real life and decisions in murals that will never be seen by other people to protect them from being defiled by history something opposite sites of the same coin. memory being the only way to keep alive what you have lost. the man who lives alone on an island

Thinking about how angrily solas said there was nothing in the lore to tie the elven gods to the tevinter old gods
and how I think he’s about to find out that isn’t true and it’s his fault
