Reading information online drives me insane sometimes. How hard is it to just,,, write the facts as they are rather than merge in personal speculation or headcanon (/hj) in there. There’s the stuff that is unanimous and is plainly stated in-text universally, then there’s the personal speculationnnn brought in by whoever wrote it and once ur able to notice it it’s really hard to not find reading some things written by others a tad annoying- especially when trying to find stuff for research purposes.
just tell me what’s there!! Dont make things up to fill in gaps,,, i get the desire to do so for more fulfilling narrative purposes (whatever it may be) buT GAAAAHHHHHH this why i always end up having to do my own hands-on research 💀 honestly doing that has netted better outcomes anyway.
all this reminds me of methods i was taught in all of my critical history and literacy courses though, weirdly enough.
#cozy texts#there needs to be clearer lines between speculation and trying to just. explain something as it is.#this happens a lot in like…fan wikis.#yeah i shouldnt expect professionalism in whats written by many volunteers who dont communicate with each other for a universal voice-#but i also see it in some other academic spaces too. (tho even in those cases we are always encouraged to be able to detect this stuff)#I dont really get this heated when its over opinion pieces tho or intrpretation works.#cuz thats kind of the point.#another perspective is the entire point.#BUT ALL THIS TO SAY NHNNNNGBHH DONT RELY ON OTHERS really just! conduct ur own research#it might feel like more of a hassle but at least you will know what ur seeing and looking into for yourself#rather than relying on secondhand info that might not even be legit or riddled with excess fluff.#theres a time and place for fluff
