It seems the Gleeks/klainers like you who have been there from the beginning love season 5b and the newer crowd in last five years hate it. And I think it’s what they did to Blaine’s character in that arc.

He’d been such a high achiever, leader of glee club really, getting into Nyada and engaged and they made him into this dependent wreck who lied and smothered Kurt. I don’t like what they did to his character at all.

weeell of course you know that i'm gonna disagree with that whole last part bc that's not what they did at all

they clearly showed us blaine struggling with body image issues that were exacerbated by his mental health issues. he was never a perfect person who had it all together, even when he was leading show choirs and getting good grades and getting into elite performing schools. we see these issues as early as season two. being oblivious to kurt's obvious feelings, overstepping with people like burt when he asked him to talk to kurt about sex, being unsure of himself - with his sexuality, not understanding people's intentions with him, not sure if he could even be a good boyfriend himself. He was kind of always a "wreck" and it's funny that that used to be what people hated about him and now people seem to see it as a reason to love him all the more

And like. Idk I think he had a dark point in s5 where he was handling things wrong and not communicating or coping like he should've been. I don't think he was 100% leaning on Kurt for support or smothering him. We actually get to see them doing their own things in those few episodes, like Blaine with June and Kurt with Peter Pan. They still support each other when they're off doing their own thing, but say that a success for one of them is a success for both of them bc they're partners who root for each other and know how to cheer the other one on

But even before that I mean, Blaine just went through a huge life change in graduating high school and moving from Lima to New York. That's no small feat. Everything's different, school is stressful, Kurt gets put in the damn hospital. Things are chaotic, and different, and scary. And we see all the NY characters coping with their new circumstances at different points in time. Sam, Santana, Mercedes, Rachel, Kurt - they all have different points of doubt, of feeling like they don't belong or not knowing what direction to go in. Blaine was far from the only one floundering, and it's unrealistic to expect any of them to be 100% sure of themselves and their lives at any point in time, but especially in s4-5

And I appreciate your ask and how you phrased it, with the dichotomy between original fans and newer fans. Because to me that also reads as the divide between older fans and younger fans. As in like, people who were teenagers or older who watched the show when it aired, and the teens or young adults who have just gotten into the show in the last few years*. Because those viewing experiences are bound to be different

I've had around a decade to watch and rewatch Glee, to process everything in it, and for my thoughts and opinions to morph and mature. Not to mention a decade of brain development and personal growth and life experience that would shape how I view a teen show like this. I didn't start watching Degrassi or PLL until relatively recently, and I know my thoughts on those shows now aren't the same as they would've been if I was watching them when they originally aired, either as a kid, teen, or even young adult

Obviously I'm not saying age = wisdom but when it comes to something like media analysis I do think that more life experience gives you more perspective and helps you understand things like this a little differently. I mean my blog is just shy of being 5 years old and I know there are things I said in 2018 that I don't agree with anymore. You just process things differently and you're gonna have changing opinions the older you get, that's just how it is

all this to say i think you mischaracterized blaine and did his s5b self an injustice lol. but that's just my opinion. i'd like to hear from some older/younger/newer/older fans and see if this is a common pattern

Should Kurt have been with Karofsky, Adam, Sam Blaine, Sebastian or Chandler? Which is the most interesting relationship? Which is the healthiest?

Ooh, interesting.

See, Sebastian interests me because the impression I get is that if you watched Glee at the time, the Warblers just have a whole subculture? Sebastian feels like such a minor character to me, the equivalent of let's say an S6 newbie or Sunshine, and yet he has a huge presence that feels more down to fandom than, like, anything in the show.

So with my usual 'I am weird and engage with Glee incorrectly' disclaimer noted, let's go! Overanalysis!

Karofsky - Romantically, no, honestly. I love the idea of them having a more solid friendship, especially with their past, but honestly I find that friendship stronger than a romance? Like, they definitely feel like they have different wants in a romantic relationship, so I don't know if they'd necessarily be compatible, but I like their dynamic.

Adam - Okay yes the rights issues with the song are gross, but also. look, guy sees a cute twink, invites him to watch his show choir, and attempts to seduce him via acoustic "I like big butts." It's a crime he's not more recognised that is just pure Glee right there. I do have a soft spot for his arc tbh, so much of S4 definitely felt rushed and like it didn't have the time it needed, but that vibe of the NYADA equivalent of Glee Club being something Rachel was paranoid of, there's some fun stuff there. Navigating adult life was always one of the interesting things to see, and I can see the draw. (Then again I also like Brody so I might just be wrong about S4 relationships)

Sam - Huh, I never really thought about them, outside of the very start? If what I heard about Sam originally being intended to be gay is right, I could see something interesting developing way back then. Maybe being more open at his last school, and needing to find new friends at McKinley. That angle I like, but I don’t necessarily know that I see Kurt with Sam after he got more fleshing out. Unless we go poly with Blam anyway. 

Blaine - Who’d ship Kurt and Blaine? Weird.  Okay, seriously. I answered an ask on Blaine a while back, but the short version is, yeah, they have great chemistry and help push one another which is kinda what you want from a relationship. Blaine presenting himself as more put-together than he is, Kurt getting to know him, and them figuring everything out. Obviously, great stuff. 

Sebastian - As above, I wouldn't have called Sebastian as, like, in the running? I could see it, but that's with the caveat that part of what I like with Sebastian is his development, the "It's funny until it's real," which is. so much of Glee in a nutshell. I think pairing Kurt with someone who's more of a cynic could make for something interesting.

Chandler - ...unironically thought they were cute that episode whoops. Like, clearly just Kurt unused to meeting other queer people, but was sweet, if. Kurt baby no.

So, all in all:

Healthiest - are people going to be made if I say Adam? Like, no slight on any of the other ships, but it was generally a pretty healthy, comforting relationship. Adam wanted Kurt to find something he liked, Kurt seemed to find him fun, and it gave Kurt something solid in New York to lean on. Compare to say, Klaine, they have way more friction because Blaine can be a bit of a hopeless romantic and sometimes sees things differently to Kurt, while Adam and Kurt seemed to generally be on the same page.  Which, Klaine is just how relationships can be, it’s something people have to work through. But as far as Kurt and Adam go, it’s... simpler, and sweet. I’d liken them to Sam and Rachel (...which feels like another controversial opinion but hey), they’re cosy, if maybe not the stuff of epic love stories. 

Most interesting - huh. I'm tempted to say Kurt/Sebastian despite barely thinking about them before making this post. They definitely seem like they'd play off each other well. Plus, realistically, non-canon ships are always going to be more interesting than canon ones because there’s so much more ‘What if?’  Kurt seems to be someone that has a paranoid streak himself, so pairing him with someone that can be as cutting as Sebastian would make for a new angle. (Plus Kurt/Warbler means you get the scene of the Warbler having abysmal fashion sense because they’re used to only ever wearing blazers) 

Should have been with - Chandler I mean, gotta say Klaine. Maybe they have friction sometimes, but that’s just what happens in good stories, and where development comes from. The fact they don’t stay the same, the fact they’re comfortable enough to be completely open with each other in order to find the points where they clash, and they have the willingness to try and grow. They complement one another so damn well, even if they never quite seem to be what the other expected.  Like, comparing to the above - Adam is cosy, but the storyline with him has nothing to do with the romance. And Sebastian, post-development sees him turn into Blaine anyway, and pre-development needs to go through a heck of a lot before I can see him and Kurt being in the same room without attempted murder.  As far as ships that feel like they have a shot of being endgame - ones where, if a show ended on them together, I wouldn’t be sat around with the feeling that it wasn’t enough of a journey, or it didn’t feel like it would last - Klaine win out.

Brittany's president storyline

yeah,,, this is just awful, brittany is really rude and disrespectful towards Kurt but for some reason kurt apologises and has to make amends even though Brittany was so clearly in the wrong, then brittany makes some girl power point and tells the guy she told to be embarrassed about taking his shirt off that it's bullying to call her an idiot for believing in leprechauns, she makes some big issue over how underestimated she is, then proceeds to prove why she was so underestimated in the first place by pledging to ban hurricanes and taking her shirt off on Tuesdays, also some fucking dino themed prom... I hate it here

2. Santana's coming out

the writers did not put an ounce of thought into this, the guy that outed her is somehow the hero?? and the one scene in which Santana takes autonomy and comes out to her peers herself is cut from the episode??? also her coming out to her grandma, although naya is amazing in the scene, is just so out of place, the only time we hear about Santana's grandma prior to this is santana talking about her grandma verbally abusing her, and there's no mention of how the negative reaction from her grandma impacted santana, it's honestly like they forgot it until s6 (which is a dogshit season overall)

3. Rachel bombing her audition

this storyline would be fine if Rachel didn't get into nyada at the end, but her fucking her audition up, being immature and harrasing the dean is rewarded in the end which is just annoying. I understand that Rachel is an extreme person so it's not bad writing that she would act like that after failing an audition it's just shit that she get's rewarded for it

4. the troubletones

an arc where under appreciated glee club members stand up for themselves and get what they deserve??? no,, but what they do have is Santana calling finn fat and brittany joining because santana tricked her into thinking leprechaun asked her to, honestly didn't give a flying fuck if they won or not by the end.

5. Quinn's overall arc

the whole pregnancy thing just took up too much time when I wished s1 focused more on the outcast kids than it did Quinn, the pretty popular girl, but I would be fine with Quinn's arc if it ended at the end of s3, but alas it didn't and I needed to experience s4-6 Quinn. 'I do' is a fun episode but it's unfortunately a gem amongst shit rather than a representative of Quinn. her character goes around in circles to an annoying point, every 5 minutes she comes to the realisation that defining by herself isn't great but proceeds to define herself by more men, then cries when the men she's only using for status/money actually don't really love her.

listen, I find the over glorification of s2 klaine compared to other seasons a bit annoying,,, but s2 klaine just hits man,, the fact that they're besties and so clearly in love with each other but their relationship naturally grows from being best friends to boyfriends throughout the course of the season is just so amazing to watch

2. Mercedes path to being a singer

Mercedes was unfortunately so often delegated to being the supporting character for other people's storyline but even though this storyline deserved more, I loved what we did see, mercedes is clearly a strong person who stands for what she wants and is empowered by it, she doesn't let knockbacks stop her from achieving her dreams and it shows a side to her character that we hadn't see before.

3. Kitty's overall arc

yeah this girl is an absolute evil bitch, but it's interesting to watch a character who actually leans into being an awful person instead of trying to justify it with some tragic backstory, yeah the storyline acknowledges kitty's background and how it may affect it her, but they never act like it completely overrides her behaviour, and it's really nice seeing how she changed and actually enjoyed being in the glee club

4. Kurt's coming out

I think this is a really well built up storyline, we understand kurt and we see how much he wants to be accepted by his father and the lengths he will go to get that, we also understand burt and the type of guy he is,, this build up to the tension to Kurt's coming out moment is done in a really nice way that just makes it so satisfying when we get that moment of kurt telling his dad he's gay and his dad does accept him, and I also like that his dad's acceptance isn't completely perfect but it feels authentic.

5. Santana in s4/5B

Santana just really comes into her own and blossoms at these points for me, she isn't just the petty his school cheerleader, she's caring, even if it's expressed in unconventional ways, and she has personal ambition and we see her actually work towards it,, this overall just feels like the perfect progression of high school santana, like it's the most clear and perfect upgrade that we see s6 doesn't exist in this household

oh my GOD anon you do NOT know the can of worms you have opened talking glee is maybe my favourite topic of conversation

ok so i discovered it when i was like 14 which was a terrible time to discover glee because 14yos are insufferable and i was absolutely no different, and then you add "actively watching and enjoying glee" to that and i become the worst person you have ever met. also some context about me, i was like a theatre kid but with no talent, like i grew up attending theatre classes and i loved musical theatre but i could not sing, dance OR act. this actually helped because i was already annoying but if i could SING?? oh i would have never shut up

anyway so glee obviously very much resonated because high school kids singing musical theatre and yeah im like that too!! i like consumed it at a rapid pace and then it became my personality for like 2 years, like i was OBSESSED. i got my sister into it, who is a fellow untalented theatre kween, and oh boy we were NIGHTMARES. i had the tumblr. i had the fanfiction.net. both have since been deleted but i was INN

my love for glee ended up getting phased out/replaced by teen wolf but oh boy is that lil glee hole still there. im like "yeah idk im not as obsessed with it anymore" and someone says "tell me your thoughts about kurt/blaine" and i pull out my powerpoint. (yes i do have a real powerpoint its like 70 slides. we had a powerpoint party a few months ago and i, who had been preparing for this my whole life, came with receipts. everyone was sort of in silent horror the whole time).

anyway my favourite characters are: rachel (LISTEN. was rachel objectively a horrible person? yes. were the multiple times i wanted to smack her? also yes. was she also incredibly entertaining and acted exactly like every annoying theatre kid i came into contact with? oh absolutely) blaine (i am a blaine APOLOGIST he did so many things wrong but he is my babygirl and i just ignore all the bad parts) santana (shes my bestie <3 like im not hers but she is absolutely mine) and sam (hi sam ily *twirls hair*). ill stand on this hill that s1-3 were good. s4 was eh. s5 was really bad. s6 was batshit and i love her.

More odd observations/unpopular opinions

So...we know that the timeline for S4/S5/S6 is totally messed up. I'm not even gonna try and unravel that Gordian Knot of ridiculousness and just assume that Brittany can, in fact, bend time and space with her mind.

This observation is simply about the whole "let's live in New York" thing.

Head canon says that when Santana tells Brittany that "I want you to come to New York with me" in 5x13 that's what happens. They go to Lesbos, then to Hawaii, then New York. Take note of the wording. Words matter.

I have read blogs saying that Brittany lives with a dancer friend or a relative or whatever while Santana stays with Mercedes. I can 100% get behind that because 1) Britt is so over Rachel and about 90% of the ND bs. She has no desire to go to Rachel's Broadway debut and spend the night on the Rachel-ego express or spend more time with people like Rachel and Blaine (especially given how badly Rachel mistreats Santana - yes, Santana can be a bitch but her bitch mode is usually a REACTION, not an ACTION). It seems like none of them grew up and failed to recognize that Santana HAD changed (except Mercedes and my head canon says Mercedes knows Britt's in NYC and helps cover for her and Santana and, despite Glee's abysmal treatment of friendships, I am 100% certain that Mercedes has heard all about their trip) and B) (and this is the BIG REASON) There is NO WAY IN HELL that Santana leaves Brittany alone on Lesbos without a phone or passport (seriously...they leave for Lesbos in May/June of 2013, Rachel's debut is in April 2014...Brittany shows up in June/July of 2014 - Santana has been out of touch with Brittany for a minimum of a month and then leaves NYC not knowing where or how Britt is? Yeah...that totally tracks...*eyeroll*.) Brittany is wearing a Hawaii shirt at the end of 5x22 so "I thought you were on Lesbian Island" is totally a cover-up (note that it's Mercedes that drives that whole expository conversation - leading it where it needs to go).

So...head-canon says that they've been in New York since April (ish) since Santana goes to Rachel's debut on April 24th (and it seems like that's the first time anyone's seen her in 10 months...that was quite the vacay they took).

Ok. That takes care of the 5x13 of it all. (I think). In 5x22, everybody leaves NYC (for LA or Lima or Reno or wherever). The loft and Mercedes' brownstone are packed up and emptied out. This is June/July 2014. Mercedes and Brittany leave to meet Santana in Reno and they embark on the mall tour which, apparently, lasts 4 or 5 months since they're all back in Lima for Homecoming 6x2 (traditionally, in the US, homecoming is in October - at least in the schools around my neck of the woods. For example, my alma mater's Homecoming this year - 2022 - is October 22nd). Again, head-canon says; they have nowhere to live in NYC right now because of the above moving out scenario. So they do the mall tour and head back to Lima for Homecoming and to re-group. Then they stay to help the Glee club get up and going again. And they stay after they get engaged because planning the wedding from NYC would be a logistical nightmare especially since they can't get married in Ohio and have to cross the border into Indiana.

In 6x3, Santana says "I was thinking. I think that you and I should live in New York together." Obviously, Santana already had the ring and was getting ready to propose and this is her way of making sure she and Britt are on the same page. Again, note the wording. Words are important. In 5x13 it was, "I want you to come to NY with me" in 6x3 it's "I think that you and I should live in NY together". It's not that the writers forgot (at least, that's my head-canon) about what was said in 5x13 - it's that the circumstances have changed and, instead of just both of them being in NY they're now going to LIVE TOGETHER in NY. I think the word choice is significant.

As I said, this is my head-canon. They were in NY together from April 2014 until June or July of 2014. Then the mall tour, now in Lima to regroup. Now Santana is asking Brittany if she wants to live together (this is a big step for two people to go from dating/living separately to moving in together and Santana is making sure - because we know Santana is always a little insecure - that Brittany actually wants the same thing Santana wants. Even after Brittany says that would be amazing, Santana is STILL surprised when Brittany accepts her proposal).

I know everyone likes to drag the Glee writers (I am also guilty of that cuz, honestly? I think Glee sucks about 75% of the time) but, in my mind, they didn't exactly screw up in this instance so much as left everything way too vague.

Anyway - this is way longer than I intended and it's my head-canon/opinion - take it for what it's worth.

Hello! Why do you like the Hummelberry friendship so much?

ngl , i was a bit worried what had prompted this question since i've not encountered much of a positive outlook towards hummelberry in this fandom except for a very few , but then i remembered about the hummelberry post i had queue'd and this question makes much more sense now

now to the question , why do i like hummelberry . a simple answer would be that they were supportive friends who became a constant in each other's lives whether by choice or circumstance .

most people who dislike hummelberry , either hate them due to their dislike towards Rachel or due to the fact that kurtcedes was replaced by this friendship .As you know , i really do like Rachel and find her extra dramatic behaviour actually endearing and relatable in the way that makes a human act when they put too much of their confidence in their talent and don’t believe their whole personality could be a factor anyone would like them . i used to be part of the second group since kurtcedes was , and still am , my favourite friendship/characters . But i’ve learned to love and appreciate both the friendships and have understood the fact that both the friendships have contributed to Kurt becoming the complex human he is by the end of the show. 

Now . i’m not going to sit here and say that hummelberry was the best friendship or were perfect for each other . each of them had their own faults , and there were times i wanted to knock some sense into them . like s3-4 acted as if kurt was Rachel’s gay best friend which pushed him a lot to the sidelines and made his every storyline revolve around her . and if you look at s1 , there are many instances where kurt wasn’t the most understanding of rachel mostly due to the storylines revolving around finn and treated her in not the most kindest way 

but they really did grow up and became each other’s support system and hyped up each other when the other was down . they still got irritated by each other’s certain behaviour  . But i feel that is one of the things that makes a friendship special . In lady or gaga , when Kurt was doubting his uniqueness and taking it out on elliot , rachel was the one who confronted him and told him he was one of a kind and that his uniqueness is the factor that is going to take him to success . Kurt always does the same for Rachel whenever she doubts herself and her talent . In Glease , both of them where feeding off support from each other to face their  exes ( esp the scene where finchel and klaine have that awkward moment in the auditorium , rachel was the one  speaking in behalf of kurt to blaine when kurt couldn’t even get the courage to look at blaine and kurt doing the same for rachel telling finn about rachel’s broadway audition and hyping her up infront of her ex ) . 

In swan song , when Kurt was relying too much on props to show off his talent , Rachel was the one who reminded him that his voice alone is enough to capture the crowd and told him to dedicate the song to himself and the struggles he had to go through to get where he is today . Kurt was the one who was always beside her when she went through her first broadway show nerves and even genuinely got excited with her when she got her callbacks . 

also they are genuinely such a comedic duo , like in end of twerk coming up with stupid ideas to live carefree ( they are the worst rebels ever ) and in s6 , them as teachers was so hilarious to watch ( people don’t truly appreciate the comedic timing of both these characters as individuals and duo and get a bit caught up in the angsty nature of them ) . and them trying to recruit new members to the club was such a cute and hilarious plotline. 

Their duets are just too good , like the only one i don’t listen to constantly is Get Back . their wicked duet tradition , the happy days mashup are two of the things that bring me so much comfort . And Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead and Popular duets accentuate the comedic brilliance of these characters . 

And hummelberry in s6 deserves a special shoutout , they were at their absolute supportive and best selves in it with a much more balanced friendship as both of them lifted each other up from the rock bottom they’d reached . the scene in llm in rachel’s bedroom where the moment she sees Kurt in a devastated state , she rushes to hug him and give an ear to him forgetting all about the stuff she personally was going through . Her first thought was to give comfort to her struggling friend , look how much of a growth that is ( maybe even a parallel to the s1 bedroom scene where they were pretending to be friends and actually was fighting over finn ) . she’s the one who helped to arrange a meeting with blaine and was with him giving him comfort during that moment in Home gcv where they are looking at a cuddling blainofsky .  and in transitioning , kurt called out all his friends ( even blaine ), to help rachel with the big transitioning she was going through and made her feel less alone to take that big jump . and when she was contemplating about whether to go back to college or take the new broadway show , he is the one that reminded her  about the big second chance they were getting to be back in the crossroads of their lives and choose the path that they’d neglected the first time. 

and atlast the surrogacy , they grew up to trust each other so much to give such an important decision of his life in the hands of rachel . 

so yeah , this became quite long , didn’t honestly think i had this much love for this friendship and i feel like i haven’t even scratched the surface of the good parts of their friendship. Theirs were the only friendship the glee writers didn’t forget about by the end of the show and constantly gave development to it through all the seasons . Again , i’m not saying they don’t come with their faults but it is honestly understandable in a situation where both of them are part of the same industry kind of the same deal with klaine

Okay honestlyyy I don't see how people can claim to love like Quinn or Santana and yet claim to hate Kitty like ??? Kitty is literally their daughter lmao. Most of her insults make me cringe (but it's the same for all cheerios ig) but she's still super funny like idk Becca's line delivery and facial expressions are just top tier so she's still fun to watch

But I also love Becca's more serious acting like she can make me feel so much for Kitty, especially in eps that don't really have much else going for them lmao. Like The Hurt Locker p2 and Previously Unaired Christmas. Like idk she can just steal the show with one well placed emotional scene and I'm here for it!

Also like we don't get to know a lot about her so I love coming up with hcs for her family life and things like that. It's fun to speculate on her life and figure out why she's Like That asfjdslk

And it's just nice to see her growth like how she starts out as this mean conniving little bitch who's out to ruin everyone's lives to genuinely caring about and making connections with the other s4 newbies and making amends for how she acted and trying to do and be better. And we get to see how much the club meant to her bc we see how hurt she was in s6 bc of it breaking up the way it did

And I like her relationships with the older characters even if they're mostly in my mind shh like Kurt and Blaine and Rachel and especially Tina lmao. I'm Titty shipper number one idk why I like them so much but they're like my top 5 fave ships lmao

Anyway yeah I just really love Kitty and I think she's wonderful and she's like my seventh favorite character tbh so like good for her. So there's some gushing for you lmao you invited this so xx

I know right that's what I've been saying, she's a Quinntana love child! I hate those surface level takes where she's Quinn 2.0 cause like hell she is, if anything she's more like Santana.

And just Becca Tobin,,, god, this woman does not get enough for her work on Glee. She carried. Her line delivery was the definition of elevating the source material. The way she did the first scene of Swan Song, being a scared little girl instead of doubling down on her evil ways or getting defensive. Like, I get why people can't get over the ED mess but there's so much more to her and even in these early episode Becca carried. "In French it means kill women"??? I'm in love with her.

And you're so right her dramatic acting was something to behold too. She grounded the entirety of PUC with her storyline and reading into Kitty lines is super fascinating but also heartbreaking. I mean, "more like Mary Magdalene"? God, why is she so good. And she does have so much growth even just in the second half of s4 where she slowly integrates into the team until she takes a much bigger role in s5 and that's why it's so interesting to have her back in s6 where her trust was shattered. And to watch her interact with Rachel! A really underrated dynamic. Kitty and Rachel are one of my favourite friendships that could have been. Of course they were, a bit, but it wasn't enough. Kitty is genuinely heartbroken about being left behind and who would have thought that at the beginning of s4.

She contains such multitudes, and yes I'm digging with a shovel to get there but the little crumbs connect so well to make her a compelling character. Intrigued by your HCs for her please go on! I don't HC that much, I think, I just wildly extrapolate from what we get in canon. But I'm so interested because there's so much ground to cover with her. For example, religion starts out as this satire thing with her, like haha she's ultra conservative and close-minded, but it actually seems like she is genuinely deeply religious? Not in the Quinn way where it felt more like external pressure and something she had a complicated relationship with. Kitty is genuinely bummed about the Nativity thing and doesn't feel worthy of playing the Virgin Mary, That's interesting stuff. And when she reaches out to Ryder, even though it's never brought up again it's such an insight into her character.

I loove Kitty gushing by all means please go on, and spread the Kittina agenda too! I never really considered it so I'd love to hear more. All in all people wake up and stop sleeping on Kitty.

Given the huge celebrity paradox problem in Glee (specifically w/r/t Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, but also Jonathan Groff):

Ignoring the fact that she sang it in S6... Rachel actively HATES Frozen.

Not that she didn't like the film or the music or anything.

But she watched it with Kurt and Santana and THAT was a mistake:

For all the people that started Legends recently and post Season 5 but Bitch about the S8 announcement. Bruh we thought it's getting cancelled after S1 but then they announced that Sara is gonna lead and it got picked up again.

We waited months for Season 4 people thought it's getting cancelled for the Beebo move. And waiting for S5 news was horrifying because even Hadacore Avalance Stans and Reactors hated 4B, season 4 didn't perform well. Season 6 got announced during S5 but we waited almost 2 Years for Season 6 to air.....The Flash getting an Announcement now is a bit different like Melissa Gustin is the face of the Show and had a huge net worth because of Glee the show wouldn't go without him. Legends is a Assemble Show that used to have big TV and Theater Actors but that changed, i love Caity but she is not in a 200k per Episode Position of an Actress and the rest of the Cast are basically have no pull. So it's gonna take some longer talks, Keto said she let us know.

Honestly, I don’t see anyone “bitching”? I started the show during 4b, but never paid much attention to whether it got renewed or not since I didn’t join the internet fandom until last june. But yeah, the wait between s5 and s6 was especially bad cause of everything else going on.

Anyway, I can’t blame people wanting to get the news sooner rather than later or being nervous about it. I’m kinda nervous myself cause LoT is the only show I watch at the moment and my absolute comfort show. when I was off the grid again (I was sick) and couldn't get out of bed, I watched the remaining seasons of glee (aka the last three) and I have so many thoughts

first, what was the point of that triangle between jake, marley and ryder. who did they think they were fooling it was so obvious

Kitty deserved a better redemption than the one she got... Which is what makes it so inconsistent... I hated Kitty in seasons four and five but she was amazing in the last season.

Is Santana your favorite character?

Just curious, what drew you to her when you watched the show?

She is :)

I guess I just like how she's a bit of a contradiction? She calls herself a bitch but her actions often say otherwise, even when her words don't. A lot of people get hung up on her rants (which suck, don't get me wrong) but she's a lot more than that if you look at what she DOES around all the bitchy comments. She's loyal. She stands up for her friends. She puts her own life on hold to help them quite often too (Opening Night, Thanksgiving, 100, s6 etc). I have a real soft spot for bitchy characters who let their guard down around the people they care about. Maybe I'm projecting. Yeah, I'm definitely projecting.

Also, as much as I complain about Santana barely featuring in s6/getting a storyline outside of Brittana, I actually kind of like that she was feeling a bit directionless after high school because it's so much more relatable than some of the wildly unrealistic success the others seem to find by the end of season 5? Lights Out is one of my favourite season 4 episodes for Santana (esp the intervention Kurtchel stage for her), and I love, love, LOVE her arc with Mercedes in late season 5 as well. Because it's so clear whenever we get to see Santana feature outside of other people's storylines that she's feeling lost, and doesn't necessarily believe in herself as much as you'd think she should. Which, again, is such a wonderful contradiction since she acts so confident around everyone else.

Quinn said it best: "you're just a scared little girl with low self esteem who's too frightened to chase her dreams."

Sure, Santana goes to NY a little while after that, but that doesn't mean she suddenly finds herself there overnight. Which I love, because it's realistic. And so very relatable.

Finally, in fear of throwing myself into a Pezberry feud spiral again, that's why I actually think it made total sense Santana auditioned for Rachel's understudy. I could write an entire thesis on what was running through her head during Brave, but in short I feel like she saw her friend kicking goals while she floundered and her response to that was to just... copy her? Which is why I also love that she resigned from Funny Girl later even if it was short-sighted career wise, because it was her finally realising she didn't need to copy Rachel for her life to be worth something. Her life was already worth something, even if she hadn't figured out what to do with it yet.

This probably just reads as incoherent Santana babble rather than a thoughtful response. Oops. Anyway those are some of the reasons she's a general fandom fave for me, not just a glee one.

songs I'd like to assign to the glee kids (part I)

Note: I'm pretty well known for making playlists and more playlists, and ever since seeing this post by @cracktastic about assigning, for the 100th episode, the least expected song to the least expected character, I've found myself craving to hear specific characters sing specific songs.

(I've also started another separate list to add on to that post I mentioned, but that will be a post for another day)

So after going through my music library, I came up with a small list of songs for each character that I would love to hear them sing, for various reasons, which i'll do my best to explain.

This got really long really fast, because I like to get into meta and over analyze - I'm also just very passionate about music. For that reason, I'll do 5 songs at a time for a specific character, and I'll be putting a read more.

Also, please be gentle with me - I've watched Glee a year ago, and it's entirely possible I may be missing or confusing scenes and storylines in my head. If I do, let me know!

for Kurt Hummel

This is probably one of my favorite songs ever, and I first thought about it for Kurt after realising how beautiful his voice would sound in it, because of its crystal clear and poised quality. (I liked it so much I included it in a scene on my fanfic too).

If you don't know Bon Iver, or the history of this song, it's the last track in an album full of more..."depressing" songs. It's also the one that has a throughout tone of hope, of recovery after a hard ordeal, of taking some first steps to a better place.

I imagine it would be a good song for him around the time he meets Blaine - when the Karovsky situation is nearly over, and he starts looking back on his school year - Burt's heart attack, the bullying - and, now with Blaine in his life, and a renewed self confidence, he's finally able to confidently step into a better phase of his life and heal from all he went through.

I see this one being sung in a quiet moment of reflection, when he's alone. Maybe in the choir room, or even outdoors in a nice garden. In my fanfic I wrote it in a different context, in Blaine's room at night, so I guess that works in my head too.

I'm very fascinated with Kurt's whole storyline in S2 - things start off so rough for him, but when Blaine comes along, and when Kurt is able to grow and shift more and assuming the person he really is, things start looking up. I chose this song for what it promises, and also because I can imagine it in Kurts lower singing register and it seems like a good one for him. Also, yes, I was a kid who owned Speak Now. Sue me.

This song is about first meeting someone very special, and that happens to be the beginning of Klaine. With the almost whispered lyrics, the slowly crescent ambiance and rhythm, it really encapsulates the feeling of everything stopping when you lay eyes in that one special person, and the flooding rush of emotions that happens right after.

Kurt had no idea how much an unsuspecting visit to a rival show coir school would change his life, even less in the midst of the situation he was in. It also seems fitting for Kurt and his early relationship with Blaine because of some specific lyrics ("This is me praying now / This was the very first page / Not where the storyline ends"). Enchanted tells the story of a special first meeting, and hints at something special to come, from the perspective of someone who is awestruck for someone.

Like the one above, this one would fit in early S2, possibly in EP6, after Kurt and Blaine's meeting at Dalton Academy. When he's back home, alone in his room, daydreaming, or when he's back at McKinley in that same afternoon.

"Oooh, how am I gonna get over you? I'll be alright, just not tonight But someday. Hey, I wish you'd want me to stay I'll be alright, just not tonight"

My main reason for choosing this one is because I think it fits very very well with Kurt's voice, and musical taste - its a very vibrant and poppy song, despite the more depressing theme - a post breakup promise of getting over it.

I first thought of it for S4, soon after the Breakup™, but paying close attention to the lyrics (I do tend to get stuck on just the melody sometimes), it makes more sense to place this on during the S6 Breakup - when Kurt finds out about Blaine dating Karovsky, after deciding he wants Blaine back.

So it's a hard situation for him, as we see from his breakdown in the bathroom (poor Kurt!), and he really has to come to terms with the mistakes he made (and the mistakes they both made as a couple), pick himself up, and move on.

I imagine this one being sung during an outing with Rachel, when she's trying to cheer him up and lift him up a little from his depression. My brain readily produces an image of a sunny street or a shopping mall that the two of them walk through, Kurt with some nice vivid colored clothes, finally being able to smile and ready to perhaps start moving on, or at least ready to start considering he will be okay.

This song just reminds me of Kurt. It's one of my all time favorites from Queen, and ever since watching Glee, these two are just connected in my mind. Voice wise, Kurt could definitely handle it.

It's apparently about a "high class prostitute"(? Freddie's word's, not mine), but still paints a pretty and dainty picture, and you can almost picture a porcelain faced lady in her best clothes, delicately smoking a cigarette. It also contains words that probably only Kurt can pronounce out of everyone in the glee club.

Many Queen songs were sung on Glee, but I don't think there was ever a Queen episode. For this one, I suggest a headcanon scenario, maybe during S3, when Mr. Shuester decides to have a Queen week - and Kurt isn't known for going with the obvious choices. He wants to be classy, edgy and impressive, and he sings in front of everyone, half in the choir room, half in the auditorium, perhaps with some fancy decoration and dancers behind him.

This is another one that I picked immediately solely based on Kurt's voice - I really do like his voice with just a quiet, discrete instrumental. Looking into it further, I decided it could really work for Kurt's character.

I didn't go very deep into the intended meaning of the song, because it definitely has space for different interpretations. I choose to go with the breakup one. These lyrics here reminded me a little of the S4 breakup storyline - "We all fall down from the highest clouds / to the lowest ground" - makes me think how well Kurt's life was going once he arrived in New York, with the internship, his apartment situation with Rachel, a new and exciting place where he could freely be himself... and then he's completely blindsided by Blaine's cheating. He goes from being ecstatic and excited at Blaine's appearance, looking forward to share with him all the great things he just discovered, when Blaine's confession sends him to a well of despair, doubt and loneliness. The lyrics "You might think you found the one / until your heart gets ripped and torn" - reinforce the whole situation.

I can see him singing this not long after the breakup, on one more sleepless night, maybe walking alone through the streets of New York, or maybe in a montage of his busy daily routine, while he just gets through the day with a whole lot of emptiness weighing on his chest.
