my favorite thing about the chucky/child's play franchise is that charles lee ray is just. a dude. he was a plain jane serial killer in eighties chicago who knew exactly one (1) spell and other than that he is just a guy in a doll's body

#it is my absolute favorite tidbit #like he's not a demon or a force of evil like annabelle or michael meyers #and hes not a dude who came back as a demonic presence like freddy #yeah he was into voodoo but he only knew the one spell he hadn't tried before he wasn't a witch or anything #and yeah he's accepted being in the doll's body but other than that charles lee ray is just a dude #we see chucky the doll as the slasher villain we all know and love and i love #that he is still just a dude from chicago #he still has to use his wits and brute force to kill people except now he's a doll #i love watching that doll kill and being like:#'that's a man from illinois right there"#and he is just so attached to putting himself in those good guy dolls that i forget sometimes that he's still #just a dude #chucky #charles lee ray #brad dourif #child's play
