as much as i hate bella telling will her story of becoming a mermaid, i think what i hate just as much is max telling gracie's story to lewis and cleo instead of her actual granddaughter
#it just kinda bugs me.#like sometimes i wonder why they even bothered making charlotte her granddaughter#we don't get any meaningful flashbacks of the two of them#which would be cool because we get to see gracie later in life#as well as getting some cool character development#and like i know max wouldn't tell the same story#but something would've been better than nothing!#maybe we could've a flashback of how they met or something#which would've been extra 50's mermaids stuff!#win-win!!#h2o just add water#charlotte watsford#gracie watsford

consider: h2o au where gracie is charlotte's paternal grandmother, and annette was her daughter in law. charlotte's father disappeared under mysterious circumstances when she was a child. when she meets lewis and his three friends who always act so strange around water, she spends months trying to unravel not only the secrets of her grandmother but her dad's sudden disappearance, too
#ooooooo i like this a lotttt#this could be a really interesting fic!#h2o just add water#charlotte watsford

or when rikki and emma terrorized lewis and a small child at the marine park... or when rikki and emma fought each other in public... or when emma made an ice slide at elliot's game... or when they used their powers at the volleyball game... etc etc etc
thinking about emma telling charlotte that she should only use her mermaid powers when absolutely necessary and preferably in private, when a few episodes prior girlie was near terrorising charlotte and her mother for the fuck of it all at the failed sertori-watsford dinner 🥴
#genuinely hilarious to me how hypocritical they are#that's a well-rounded character lol#h2o just add water

noticed a tiny crumb of emma character development in a recent rewatch: in 1x01 'metamorphosis' emma has her phone with her on mako island, and cleo says she is 'always really prepared.' however in 2x11 'in over our heads' when emma wants to call lewis to ask him about zane's treasure hunt, they have to use cleo's phone because emma forgot hers. That's Growth!

tentative chewis dating timeline: charlotte and lewis start spending time together in 2x03 ‘the one that got away,’ no more than a few weeks after the full moon that gave emma, rikki, and cleo new powers. in 2x10 'missed the boat’ they kiss for the first time, and by the next full moon in 2x13 'moonwalker’ rikki refers to charlotte as lewis’s girlfriend. presumably they made things official around the time of the events of 2x10 'missed the boat.’ the next full moon takes place in 2x17 'moonstruck,’ with the one after that triggering charlotte’s transformation in 2x21 'and then there were four.’ lewis and charlotte break up in 2x25 'sea change’ and charlotte loses her tail during the next full moon in 2x26 'unfathomable.’ if we consider that they were together for the duration of three full moons plus a few weeks, charlotte and lewis’s relationship lasted for in and around four months

I hated Charlotte Watsford
When I was younger, and saw H2O for the first time (the second season), I hated Charlotte Watsford. And I loved hating her! But that got me thinking, several years later. Why? What was it about Charlotte that made her so hateable?

i'm no math scientist BUT hear me out: the theory behind the creation of the mako and irish moon pools according to season three canon is that a comet broke off back in the day which contained components of moon rock, thus creating the two moon pools. what if cleo, rikki, and bella were only able to partially deflect eva's comet at the end of season three? what if it broke up and created new moon pools all around the world? what if the number of known moon pools rose inestimably and created dozens and dozens of new mermaids?
#oooooo i like this theory#especially considering the irish moon pool just seems to be a hole in a cliff#like where a comet fragment must've hit it#h2o just add water

Each of the girls’ powers: Bella Hartley.
Gelidkinesis: Gelidkinesis is the power to turn water and all things that contain water into a jelly-like compound. A merperson using it also shows the ability to change its viscosity (making jelly to catch Cleo’s fish)
