Borlish and Markish translations from 1 Corinthians. These lines were used as the forenote for (and inspired the title of) Elsebeth Scheider’s 1795 work Through a Black Mirror, usually cited as the original parachthon romance.
Oy veim nos par spegl n’oscurtað ; la cossy verreu nos visaç a visaç. Oy connosc jo ne part ; la cossy le connoscray jo com so jo connuð.
/ɔj ˈvim no paʀ ˈspil no.xɪʀˈtaθ | la koˈsi veˌʀaw no viˈzaʦ a viˈzaʦ ‖ ɔj koˈnɔx ʒo ne ˈpaʀt | la koˈsi la ˌko.noˈxʀe ʒo kɔm ˈso ʒo koˈnɪθ/
Thogh seeth we now as by a black mirre, yet shalth we be in sight yathre. Thogh know I now but by deals, yet shall I know all as am I knoun to God.

excerpt from first-edition Borlish translation of the above novel. Released by Hautcligs Edition in 1798 (a remarkably short delay for translation at the time, although in this case a French copy was published yet three months earlier).
Eð accougl ne cainç Adelait reconnoy l'abject perpetuitað luy jait avant. I poðe parmettr ag Capitan de le pardr sou un ciel xenic calscon, e l'hom denir a coup e cos enter l'isolaðessem de jamay.
And immediately Adelaide understood the terrible infinitude cast out before her. She could let the Captain lose her under any xenic sky, and become at once and entirely the most isolated person in history.
L’idea attraghen.
The thought appealed.
