From the DDT archives: these two screenshots have something in common in that the reaction's of an unrelated person to the right completely distracted me from the action.

CORE Pro presents The Co-Op 2023 JTO vs. CORE 03/31/23 Pico Union Project - Los Angeles, California Attendance: 311
Match #1
JTO: Yasu Urano vs. CORE: Kerry Morton - Kerry Morton tried for his inverted facelock into an elbow drop, Yasu Urano countered into a backslide but only got a two count. Urano picked Morton up and hit a straight jacket powerbomb, but before he could follow up DDT wrestler and former JTO competitor KANON appeared at ringside eyeing up both Urano's King Of JTO championship belt and Morton's NWA World Junior Heavyweight belt. Morton rolled Urano up from behind, but Yasu kicked out at two. Morton met Urano with a superkick as Urano got back to his feet and got the pinfall. Winner: Kerry Morton
- The JTO locker room stormed out and chased off KANON. Ryuuya Takekura got on the microphone and challenged KANON to a match at TAKA Michinoku's These Days II event later this weekend.
Match #2
JTO: GIRLS 2 TOP (Tomoka Inaba and Yuu Yamagata) vs. CORE: Billie Starkz and Kenzie Paige - Billie Starkz split Yuu Yamagata's nose open with a forearm strike and then hit her with the tombstone. Starkz positioned Yamagata half way out of the ring and tried for a swanton bomb on the apron but Tomoka Inaba grabbed Yuu by the ankles and pulled her out of the way. As Starkz crashed on the apron, Kenzie Paige wrapped a chain around her fist and swung on Inaba, but Tomoka ducked under and landed a right hook to Kenzie's liver. Yuu Yamagata hit Kenzie with an enzuigiri and Inaba followed with a PK. Yamagata locked Kenzie in the Just Facelock until Paige tapped out. Winners: GIRLS 2 TOP
Match #3
JTO: Ryuuya Takekura and Akira Juumonji vs. CORE: Starboy Charlie and Marcus Mathers - Marcus Mathers with the 450 splash on Akira Juumonji and Starboy Charlie with the second rope skytwister press on Ryuuya Takekura, but they both missed and landed hard on the mat. Brogan Finlay came out of the crowd brandishing a steel chair but was cut off by Eagle Mask who was seconding at ringside. Akira and Ryuuya hit Marcus Mathers with stereo PKs, one to the sternum and one to the spine. Takekura hoisted Starboy Charlie up and drove him into the mat with a delayed chokeslam and picked up a win for the JTO side. Winners: Ryuuya Takekura and Akira Juumonji
Match #4
JTO: Aoi, Misa Kagura, and Sumika Yanagawa vs. CORE: Athena, Raychell Rose, and Queen Aminata - Queen Aminata landed a headbutt on Aoi followed by a superkick to the back of Aoi's head from Raychell Rose. Aminata and Rose knocked Kagura and Yanagawa off the apron as Athena hit The O-Face on Aoi and made the cover. Winners: Athena, Raychell Rose, and Queen Aminata
Match #5
JTO: TAKA Michinoku vs. CORE: Nick Wayne - Nick Wayne went for the rebound cutter on TAKA Michinoku, Michinoku caught Nick and turned it into the Just Facelock but Wayne reached the ropes. Kerry Morton, Starboy Charlie, Marcus Mathers, Billie Starkz, and Kenzie Paige made their way out of the locker room but they were held off by CORE officials and the rest of the JTO roster who had been on high alert since KANON's early appearance. This did prove to be a distraction for TAKA who turned around into a superkick from Nick Wayne. Wayne went to the top for a swanton bomb, but TAKA got the knees up. TAKA spiked Nick Wayne with a Michinoku Driver and got the three count fall. Winner: TAKA Michinoku
Match #6
JTO: Ren Ayabe and Fire Katsumi vs. CORE: The Last Wave (Titus Alexander and Mr. Takeshita) - Ren Ayabe had Titus Alexander suspended in his lifting full nelson lock but was saved by a running knee to Ayabe's back by Mr. Takeshita. Titus Alexander slipped behind Ayabe and drove him into the corner for the Chaos Theory, but Fire Katsumi broke up the pin. Katsumi tried for a jumping knee of his own on Titus Alexander but was hit in mid-air by a cloud of salt thrown by the devious Mr. Takeshita. Titus caught Fire and hit the northern lights suplex to gain the pinfall. Winners: The Last Wave

The New Beginning USA Night 1 - 1/30/2019; Full Giant Baba Memorial Card Released: Tanahashi/Yoshitatsu v. Miyahara/Sekimoto
The first of the New Beginning USA shows took place last night in LA. We all know the issues with these cards, and I’ve already bloviated at length about them. They are what they are.
The New Beginning USA - 1/30/2019, Globe Theater, Los Angeles, CA
Alex Coughlin TLD Clark Connors (10:00)
Jonathan Gresham d. Tyler Bateman (Modified Jackknife, 11:36)
Colt Cabana d. Shane Taylor (Clutch Hold, 10:22)
Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr. [SZKG] d. Marty Scurll & Brody King [Villain Enterprises] (Archer > King, Killer Bomb, 13:09)
Jeff Cobb [FREE] d. Karl Fredericks (Tour of the Islands, 6:57)
David Finlay Jr. [Lifeblood] d. Chuck Taylor [CHAOS] (Trash Panda, 15:31)
One Night Only Roppongi Vice: Juice Robinson & Tracy Willams [Lifeblood] d. Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero [CHAOS] (Robinson > Romero, Pulp Friction, 32:20)
Y’know, I love me some Roppongi Vice, but I am not sure we needed a 32:20 prelude tag match for Juice Robinson v. Trent Beretta, which will be Friday. Finlay v. Chuckie was No DQ, and pretty surprised Finlay won that, if I’m honest. Doubly surprised Brody King took the fall in that match. Cobb must have squashed Fredericks, good grief... No word yet as to video release of this show.
AJPW released the full card for the Giant Baba Memorial show on 2/19/2019, today being the 20th Anniversary of Baba’s death at age 61 from cancer.
The main event of the show is an absolute stunner: IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi will be teaming with former partner, and current AJPW freelancer, Yoshitatsu, against AJPW’s Triple Crown champion Kento Miyahara and BJW World Strong (and AJPW World Tag Team, and ZERO-1 AWA World Heavyweight) champion Daisuke Sekimoto. Sadly, I know who’s taking the fall here, but this should be a GREAT match.
Tomoaki Honma, whose career began in BJW before working in AJPW and NJPW, will be in an 8-man match with Young Lion Ren Narita, BJW’s Yuji Okabayashi & AJPW’s Naoya Nomura. The only real change from what we knew before, is Naomichi Marufuji v. Masaaki Mochizuki has become a tag match.
Abdullah the Butcher’s retirement ceremony will have all sorts of luminaries as part of it, including Keiji Muto, Stan Hansen, and the original Tiger Mask, Satoru Sayama. Should be a real hoot of an event, honestly.
Full card for the event:
Giant Baba Memorial Battle Royale: Mitsuo Momota, Kim Duk, MEN’s Teioh, TARU, Ryuji Hijikata, Yuto Aijima, Joel Deaton, Masao Inoue, Tsuyoshi Kikuchi, Masahito Kakihara, Tamon Honda, Yasu Urano (Referee: Mighty Inoue)
Masanobi Fuchi [AJPW], Yuma Aoyagi [AJPW] & Yoshiaki Fujiwara [FREE] v. Taichi, TAKA Michinoku & Yoshinobu Kanemaru [SZKG]
Eight Man Street Fight Bunkhouse Tornado Tag Team Deathmatch: Atsushi Onita [FREE], Kendo Kashin [FREE], Hideki Suzuki [FREE] & Hideki Hosaka [FREE] v. Shuji Ishikawa [AJPW], Great Kojika [BJW], Mitsuya Nagai [Dradition] & Hikaru Sato [Pancrase MISSION]
Tomoaki Honma [NJPW], Yuji Okabayashi [BJW], Naoya Nomura [AJPW] & Ren Narita [NJPW] v. Kazushi Miyamoto [FREE], Tomohiko Hashimoto [A-TEAM], Daichi Hashimoto [BJW] & Takuya Nomura [BJW]
Abdullah the Butcher Retirement Ceremony: Guests: Keiji Muto, Stan Hansen, Satoru Sayama, Hisashi Shinma
Naomichi Marufuji [NOAH] & Jinsei Shinzaki [Michinoku Pro] v. Masaaki Mochizuki & Shun Skywalker [Dragon Gate]
Jake Lee & Koji Iwamoto [AJPW] v. SANADA & BUSHI [Los Ingobernables] v. Ayato Yoshida [K-DOJO] & Shota Umino [NJPW]
NOSAWA Rongai [Tokyo Gurentai] & Kaz Hayashi [W-1] v. Mil Mascaras & Dos Caras
Jun Akiyama [AJPW], Takao Omori [AJPW] & Taiyo Kea [FREE] v. Satoshi Kojima [NJPW], Yuji Nagata [NJPW] & Osamu Nishimura [FREE]
Kento Miyahara [AJPW] & Daisuke Sekimoto [BJW] v. Hiroshi Tanahashi [NJPW] & Yoshitatsu [FREE]
The next show of the New Beginning USA will be tomorrow, 2/1/2019, although much like last night’s show, I won’t be blogging about it until Saturday, which is also when the first night of The New Beginning in Sapporo takes place. See you then. There will be a title match main event, and Tomoyuki Oka makes his US debut in his Dominator Great O-Kharn gimmick.
- 2/1/2019, Grady Cole Center, Charlotte, NC
Karl Fredericks v. Clark Connors
Colt Cabana & John Skyler v. Lance Archer [SZKG] & Shane Taylor

From the DDT Pro Archives - Ken Ohka’s Right To Challenge Contract Cash In: A Tragedy (6/28/15)
Here we have one of the most Ken Ohka moments in the history of DDT Ken Ohka moments. At 2015’s King of DDT show, he chose to cash in his Right to Challenge Contract for the KO-D Openweight Title in the middle of Yasu Urano’s title match with Kudo. He pinned Urano to win the title…and immediately got cashed in upon, when Kudo used his Contract to get an immediate rematch. (There were a number of these contracts floating around at this point.)
Naturally, Kudo wins the belt back, and Ken is left to wonder what went wrong. It’s truly peak Ken Ohka…and it still makes me cry a lil bit.
#real talk i still hold a bit of a grudge against kudo for this#ddtpro#ddt pro#ken ohka#kudo#wrestling#my stuff
