Well at thispoint in the story, spending a lot of time with her crush for totallybusiness reasons after he gave her unlimited access to the city archives iskind of a guilty pleasure. XD Um but also…hoarding all the interesting littlecurios she has collected in her attic maybe? I don’t know that Lottie honestlyfeels guilty about any of that.

35. What are they like as a friend?

Lottie is agreat conversationalist, because she likes to talk but especially likes tonudge her friends into talking so she can learn from their stories. She is alsoa great storyteller! Depending on her friend’s personality, all that chatter canget annoying, though. But if she finds someone *coughAdicough* with sharedinterests, she will enthusiastically delve into those interests with them! Andfor those she knows best (Xipil especially, that twin bond) she has a knack foranticipating their thoughts/ideas, figuring out what they’re getting at even ifthey have a hard time expressing it. (Well, that’s mostly just Xipil, but Lottiewith an introverted friend is likely to develop the same knack. She’s observantand good at putting clues together, except not always savvy to the social cuesfor when she’s annoying someone with her exuberance.)

Ahhhh it wouldbe great if I knew more VAs than just the CritRole cast… XD Um the purple HawkeVA would probably work great for her since that was pretty much where I startedin developing Lenni’s personality when I started her playthrough?

None that I’vedrawn/written her with so far, but getting piercings and/or a tattoo would behighly likely for her!

The sweetestthing possible! Probably caramel apple spice something or other, or somethinglike that? I avoid drinking my carbs as much as possible so I have very littleexperience in the kind of sugary drinks Lenni would crave!

42. What’s the dumbest thing your character’s done?

Oh Lenni. She has done a lot of dumb things in her time, afterall, but she does not let that stop her! Hm…probably getting scammed by a conartist herself back when she was first orphaned, which in turn led to her tryingto run scams of her own, which sometimes worked out and often did not, it was alot of trial and error and getting run out of towns that got wise to herschemes. She always just tries again in a new town though! Which is either veryresilient of her or…continuing to try to con people when it’s clearly notworking out might actually be the dumbest thing she’s done. XD

For Dal:

14. Can they cook? Can they bake?

Indeed she can!(Vi would be jealous, probably.) Most of the skills I picked for her werepretty domestic – she’ll be much happier settling down with her family inIxamitl than adventuring, that’s for sure – and cooking was rank 3 or 5 Ithink? Dal is happiest when occupied with tasks that make her feel helpful, andgravitated to kitchen tasks pretty early on (along with thegardening/herbalism, because she enjoyed seeing what she could do with theherbs she was growing) and has developed into a pretty intuitive cook.

19. Hobbies

Well, thecooking and the gardening of course. Reading, sometimes. She’s watched Siofraknit often enough but never got around to learning it from her, alas. She willattempt to learn embroidery in Ixamitl but that may not go any better than Vi’smuffins…

33. How have they changed over time?

As far as my ideaof her, she was originally supposed to be older, a bit more jaded, actuallycapable of intimidation via divine glow (I put intimidation on her skill listbut it ended up so way out of character I only tried once to use it, and thatwas after she was ex-godlike and also was an attempt against Yarrow so ofcourse it didn’t work XD), and nowhere near the skittish little sweetheart sheended up being. As far as her actual character development in game, she has hadto…confront a lot of things she took for granted and decide what really mattersmost to her? And navigate dilemmas where her innately extreme honesty may notalways be the best policy? Basically she’s scarred for life, really, buthopefully comes out of it all stronger in the end…

37. Do they have any phobias?

I mean she’s abit scared of everything out in the real world so far but I don’t know if that’sa phobia as much as excess caution from a tiny girl in a big world. It’s morejust that so many things are new and unfamiliar to her, rather than actualphobias. I have yet to identify actual phobias for her…She probably did have afear of public speaking but at some point she gained some ranks in Oratory (she’sa priest, come on, she’s gotta do sermons sometime) so she has worked her waypast that fear to some extent.

51. What were some inspirations for your character (people,movies, games)?

Uhhhh…wellmostly the reason for her being so quiet and hesitant about everything is thatthis was Ranna’s first time in a ttrpg and I was slow to figure out how to roleplay. :-D My next character will hopefully be a little more decisive? Otherthan that, the inspiration for Dal was mostly just looking at the rpg guide andseeing “Dawn Godlike” and going “YES I WANT THAT” and also I apparently can’tnot play an orlan if orlan is an option. (I’ll probably be a LK orlan in thenext campaign, of course XD)

And then for that last one…

46. If this character was in a musical, what would their motifbe (what kind of instruments do you hear, what’s the tempo, etc).

So uh this question may have prompted me to dig out my Noteworthy Composer CD and install it again since it turns out I hadn’t done that yet since the last computer upgrade. :-D I had some plans to try to show-not-tell the answer for this one by putting together a little midi motif for each of them, but then…I found some of my old compositions (like, this was 20 years ago in college, I am Old) and actually…

This one is a pretty good Dal theme! For her I wanted something sort of mellow, sweet, and slightly melancholy, not a whole lot of variation (she thrives in routine, day-to-day domestic life, not this harrowing adventuring business) and it turns out my Winter theme works for that.

And this dance tune works for Lottie! Cheerful, and also - it’s in 7/4 time. We can’t have something too simple for a chanter that clever! And it’s sort of a balladic melody too, also very chanter-suitable.

I’ll have to actually compose something for Lenni though, didn’t find any in the old files that work for her! Something a bit jazzy probably…we’ll see…

"Aluele is the closest I have to a best friend. Kind of sad considering we're ex-moirails, but whatever. Who needs new friends,,,,"

"My friend group. Some of them are assholes and fucking weirdos, but they're MY assholes and fucking weirdos. Unfortunately."

"I had a cute neighbor when I was younger that I crushed on, but I'm not sure if I'd classify him as a first love."

"A pitch black room with ambient sounds, silence, or my favorite music. Maybe I should just get a sensory deprivation tank."

Plum: Do you keep your promises?

"If it matters, yes. If it's about TNT episode release dates, absolutely fucking not."

Primrose: What was your childhood like?

"I don't want to come off as a whiny bitch, but damn that shit was lonely. Had migraines even back then and I was pretty bad about taking out my pain and frustration on other trolls. Not having friends was definitely my own fault, but I'm better now?"

Raspberry: Do you feel remorse for anything you’ve done?

"Maybe not visiting my lusus more? It's happy over at the resort but we haven't had much quality time lately. Is it self serving to blame my job? Because I totally do. If my producer is reading this: fuck you."

Stephanotis: Do you hope to get married someday?

"I feel like a dedicated relationship doesn't need a marriage to like,,, solidify it or anything? And thinking of writing and speaking vows is gonna give me hives. Is it weird that I can't stand public speaking as a podcaster?"

Yarrow: How do you heal a broken heart?

"Probably the same way you heal a broken diamond. Isolation and a good fantasy game or novel to get lost in."

Zinnia: Who do you miss right now?

"Not to be a broken record, but my lusus. Wow, is my guilt showing yet?"

Carnation shakes his head, as do Bud, Violet, and Glory. 

Ren rolls his eye. “I’ve got better stuff to do.”

“I have a crush on the Commander.” Zinnia smiles. “But that’s more a friendship thing. He’s the coolest.”

Rose sighs. “I’m still not over my ex. We broke up a bit before I came to work here.”

Posey starts, “I’ve got a crush on-” 

“Literally everyone.” Basil interjects.

“Hey! Not true! Don’t stereotype me!” Posey crosses her arms. “I’ve got a few crushes. But my biggest one is on 2D! He’s the cutest.”

“Aaand he’s not real.” Grumbles Basil.

“Neither are we.”

“What?”

“Well, what about you, Basil? Who do you like?”

“No one. Everyone sucks. Yarrow?”

“Yeah, I’m going to agree with Ren on this one.” Yarrow answers. “I love girls, but pinning away after someone isn’t how I like to spend my days. Besides, I’m young; I’ve got time.”

Crossing their arms, Basil states. “And it’s especially dumb to be wasting your time crushing on a fictional character.”

“2D is so cute though!” Posey pouts.

“Cute shmoot.” Peppermint growls. “You can fawn over that half-wit wimp all you want. The best guy ever is Murdoc.”

“Yes! Murdoc.” Nightshade agrees. “He’s amazing. He’s a beautiful, soulless zombie.”

“Fictional characters don’t count!” Basil shouts, exasperated. 

“You don’t count!” Both Peppermint and Nightshade sneer.

“As you can see.” Rose smiles as her siblings and cousins continue to shout and bicker with each other. “We all have some problems where love and crushes are concerned.”

“Oh, boy,” Carnation agrees. “Do we have problems…”

Month in Review // Christmas is Over Thank Fuck – December

Christmas is officially done and dusted and honestly, I am so fucking thankful. 

I loved Christmas day but the days leading up to Christmas? I’m good thanks, can I get Christmas without them next year?

Between the chaos that is Christmas and the extra shifts at work (plus a month-long convoluted promotion) and no longer having a best friend, because of course, I am ready to disappear for at least a year.

Sadly I can’t do that so here we are to discuss my month!

I actually got through Charmed very quickly and I have no idea how???

All Stars 4 has only just started but I’m already up to date!

I kind of watched Wreck-It Ralph and by kind of I put it on and sort of paid attention. Oops.

I was planning on seeing Ralph breaks the internet with my nephews but they want to see Bumblebee instead so I guess I’ll watch it next month!

I didn’t watch Ratatouille because I didn’t end up having a movie day with my (now ex?) best friend.

And I don’t think I’ve watched any Buzzfeed Unsolved but I don’t think there has been any new episodes?

Month’s Goals

 Try and post 4 times a week like I have been!

 I wanna try audiobooks again???

 No Borrowing library books unless they’re holds or audiobooks

 Continue going on walks 4-5 times a week. 3 at the very least!

 Keep up with Bullet Journal because it actually helps me get shit done and be less of a mess.

 Try not to eat loads of takeaway, even though I’m gonna be super busy and tired, unless unavoidable.

 Make one of Chrissy Teigen’s recipes because they look Bomb af

I mostly kept up with my blogging schedule!

I didn’t find an audiobook I wanted to read available from my library so I just didn’t listen to any. Plus I’m annoyed at myself because Audible had like a 3 months free trial thing happening and I forgot to sign up until the day after the promotion ended. Also from what I hear the American Audible is better so I don’t know if maybe I should sign up for that one?? I know when I was signed up, I was with the UK one because it was better but I don’t know if they let you do that anymore? If anyone can help me I’d really appreciate it! Also, $17 a month is just a lot of month to me.

I haven’t been to the library unless it was to return books!

I realised that the Bullet Journaling gives me too much power! Here’s the thing, I like things to be customisable because I work out what I want and get angry when I can’t do things that way. Unfortunately, I think Bullet Journals are too customisable for me and isn’t really working?? I don’t know. I’m going to look into other diaries for the new year and see if I can find something that fits me better.

I did eat more takeaway than last month so that’s not great but I also didn’t eat more than I used to so that’s good and what I did eat of it were mostly small things. Still not great though!

I’m trying to make @chrissyteigen’s Chicken Pot Pie recipe and I’ve burnt the crust, it’s taking me ages, my arm is sore, everything is in American measurements, I thought I’d get it done in an hour like an idiot who doesn’t read recipes through properly and I wanna die.

I Did Things

I went to the movies with my mum twice this month!

I also went to the movies with my sister which was good! Then we came home and watched Christmas movies together and things got a little emotional and there was a little miscommunication but we worked it out and I’m hoping that we spend some more time together in the coming weeks.

My sister and I both don’t really have a whole lot of people we’re close to. We’re introverts but we also craving some socialising to a point so I think it’ll be good to have us spend some time together. It would also be nice to grow closer to her because I know we both are in need of people we can trust and talk to openly.

My mum and I babysat my Nephew this month as well and it was so much fun. He’s such an easy baby! Literally you can sit him on the couch and he’ll bounce himself off the back of the lounge for hours. He put himself to sleep doing it. Twice.

Uhhhh I Maybe No Longer Have A Best Friend?

Long story short I told my best friend of over 10 years that I was officially and legally changing my name for Christmas (it was never a secret that I wanted to change it, she’s known for years) and she didn’t react well at all.

I was firm and told her that if she wanted to continue in my life she had to respect me, and that includes respecting my name and be prepared for big changes ahead.

I’ve given her space to process and decide but haven’t heard from her since so I don’t know, it’s a bit up in the air but I’m handling it surprisingly well so maybe it’s a sign that us parting is for the best???

I don’t want to lose her, but I won’t lose myself to keep her. I won’t sacrifice pieces of myself for the sake of others anymore. All that does is validate toxic behaviour and cost me my health and happiness.

She was kind of my only actual real-life friend who I speak with outside of work so uh good thing I’m too busy to feel lonely.

But I’m super grateful for the people I’ve met through the book community, having this blog and talking to you all reminds me that I’m not really alone. I just have to reach out to people which is, um…not easy for me but I’m trying to work on it.
