notes. hi guys ik you’re probably getting sick of all the xiao content which im so sorry about but i had to bc today is my two-year anniversary with xiao <3 plus it’s the first post of the new year so ofc i had to write for him ! it’s shorter than most of my other xiao posts tho so hopefully you all won’t find it to be too boring …

glittering stars twinkled across the moonlit sky as the vigilant yaksha stood at the balcony of the wangshu inn, gazing towards the liyue plains beyond. he was waiting for someone; a certain person that he'd met right on this balcony what hadn't even felt that long ago. 

it was certainly far more difficult circumstances back then; liyue was struggling from the loss of their archon, and he was left to pick up the pieces. up until then, the adeptus never thought he would find peace for himself. that was, until you came into his life. 

the sound of footsteps creaking on the wooden staircase snapped him out of his thoughts. he would recognize those footsteps anywhere; that, and the familiar voice that exclaimed, “i’m back!” 

xiao turned from where he stood, a tiny hint of a smile forming on his lips as he greeted his lover. “i was waiting for you, qingxin.” 

there you stood with a sheepish grin on your face, plate of almond tofu in hand. "sorry, i got held back a bit from work. i made dessert for you, though.” 

your husband pressed a kiss to your lips. “thank you, dear. it’s been a while since i’ve had a taste of your cooking.” 

he turned his head away, voice lowered. “i’m sorry for making you come over to the inn instead of our home, but i wanted to meet with you here tonight.”

you nodded, reaching forward to grasp his hand in yours. “i know why. it’s a special place, and today is a special day, right? for you, for me, for us.”  

xiao didn’t reply for a moment. “…‘the moon is beautiful tonight, isn’t it?’ that’s what you told me at this same spot, two years ago.” do you still remember the events of this day back then?” 

“of course i remember.” you walked towards the edge of the balcony with xiao in tow, leaning against the railing. “the lantern rite was in full swing this time of year. i wanted to watch the fireworks with you, so i came over the wangshu inn with some tofu.” 

“but i was off fighting monsters,” xiao remarked. “i apologize to have kept you waiting for so long that night.” 

“no, but that’s what made the moment special, y’know?” you smiled at the memory. “i waited here in this spot for what seemed like hours, calling out your name. the sun had already set when i arrived, and at one point keqing even told me i was going to miss the celebration if i stayed here and tried to drag me off.” 

you turned to face him, and xiao nearly lost his breath. “but then you came.” 

you looked ethereal standing there, bathed in moonlight, the serenest of smiles on your face. 

“i did,” he replied, squeezing your hand. “and that was the moment my life changed forever.” 

“for the better, or for the worse?” you joked. 

he flicked your forehead. “don’t ask such dumb questions, silly.” xiao looked up towards the sky, the moon high up in the sea of stars. “it’s just the same, isn’t it…”

the conditions that night been exactly the same as this; except the sky had been lit up with fireworks two years ago. the same year that he had kneeled on this balcony, confessing his love for you as colorful sparks lit up the sky. 

“will you marry me, y/n?” 

“the same as what?” you asked, leaning your head on his shoulder. 

the adeptus shook his head. “nothing, just thinking out loud.” he looked down towards the first floor of the inn, where traveling merchants were still strolling about. “a shame the lantern rite doesn’t start until later this year. we could have watched the fireworks show together again.” 

“i thought the vigilant yaksha hated the lantern rite,” you teased him. “is the conqueror of demons getting soft, hm?” 

xiao slapped your arm in protest. “shut up.” he looked away, grumbling. “i only said so because i know you enjoy the display, mortal.” 

you laughed, a sound that was music to his ears. “you’re so silly, xiao.” you smiled and gave him a kiss. “that’s okay, the stars are enough of a show for me.” 

“is it now?” he pressed another kiss to your lips, one hand running through your hair. “well then, i know the perfect place where we can watch the stars.” 

you followed his hand as it pointed up towards the roof. 

“yippee!” 

as you settled down to stargaze, his arms wrapped around your waist so you wouldn’t fall, xiao couldn’t help but think to himself how lucky he was. he had always thought his karma meant he couldn’t feel happiness, but now you had come into his life, and for the first time he felt at peace. as if he could finally be happy, after a millennia of suffering. 

yes, in some ways being immortal was a curse; but it was also a blessing, for if he was just a mere mortal long ago he wouldn’t have met you. the light of his life, his love. xiao was so glad to have you with him these past two years, and the adeptus promised himself that he would never leave your side, until forever do us part.

This is riding off the language stuff in sagau but I just cant get it out of my head a reader who uses tumblr slang every once in a while. like they meet the Traveller and they're like "Omg I'm so cheesed to meet you!!" And the Traveller is just like "???" meanwhile Paimon integrates that into her vocabulary. And then maybe at some point, if the reader has a vision they're like "MAIMING AND BITING YOU" "THAT'S IT! I'M SENDING YOU TO EEBY DEEBY!" while their poor teammates are so confused. Just imagine going over to ppl like Razor, Klee, Chongyun and going "Awwww my lil scrunglos"

Missing Your Warmth Already-Xiao Fic

Characters: Xiao x Dead gn Reader

Summary: you died in a war against a god, right in front of him.

Warnings: angst/no comfort, reader could be an adeptus(but not one of the yakshas), if you´d like then xiao dies too(i could make that a part two??), very short

Note: its my first time writing smt like this, pls dont tell me how bad it is(i already know it). hope you´ll "enjoy" reading this, love you.

He was looking at your lifeless body, his legs almost couldn´t hold him up anymore. if only you were still here to comfort him and hug him, so he could lay on your chest and feel the warmth of your body. Instead, when he gave in and fell down on his knees wanting to hear your voice again, just one last time. In the feeling of the emptiness take over him, he doesn´t notice his fellow yaksha asking if he's ok. Instead pulls your body, which was once so warm and full of life, now cold and lifeless in his arms. he eventually gave in and cried, he wanted to scream his lungs out, and to destroy the world for taking you away from him. Yet he could only sit with your dead body on his lap, stroking your hair like you once did to his. It felt calming, but that was quickly taken away when he touched your skin, the feeling of your ice-cold skin on his, he couldn´t bear it.

he tried to calm himself down, like you said he should when he was stressed or felt down. but it wasn't the same, you weren't there to help him, instead right there in his arms lying dead, not being able to help him be calm and collected as before. He didn't think life would ever get better after your passing but still hoped he could get over it, even if it sounded impossible. But it certainly couldn't get any worse, right?

If only he knew what was coming for him and the rest of the yaksha.

one day he’ll normalize celebrating halloween all year round. one day. as childish as he is, venti actually really enjoys taking the mondstadt kids around the few small towns in the area to trick or treat! and just so happens, this year he invited you to go with him too. the two of you make a group costume for you, him, klee, and diona. the latter not being as enthusiastic about someone who isn’t her father taking her trick or treating. eventually that bitterness goes away and she just has fun with the rest of the group. by the end of the night, you and venti had to carry the two children back to their homes because they were both passed out. by the time you got home, it was at least two in the morning. all in all, a fun halloween <3

KAZUHA •

he’s definitely the type of person who, initially, doesn’t want to go trick or treating. eventually you had convinced him, and he ends up having way too much fun with it. he gets a silly costume, a matching candy bucket, and the two of you end up staying out till the sun rises. though, by the end of the night half the candy bucket is empty because he wouldn’t stop taking the peanut butter cups. every few minutes you’d see him reaching back into the candy bucket to grab another candy, and playfully roll your eyes every time he glances at you with his mouth full of candy.

XIAO •

doesn’t even know what halloween is.

“why would someone dress up in a one time use costume and…go door to door asking for candy?…not that i’m not willing to try it, if you wanted to…”

he gets a simple costume, the other adepti (+ shenhe) see him out and about with you and laugh to themselves over it. the vigilant yaksha, conqueror of demons, xiao himself, putting on a silly costume on a holiday only humans celebrate just to make his lover happy? it’s both absurd and hilarious at the same time.

HEIZOU •

mf dresses as a detective. even if he already is one there is no stopping him. and he definitely goes trick or treating every year, no doubt about it. he may be a professional detective, but it’s not like he spends halloween cooped up in his home watching murder mystery movies all night, he did it once and regretted it bc he didn’t get any candy.

who’s the most ticklish character

Xiao will always be the answer whenever he shows up alksdjflksa but I feel like Faruzan could compete with him since she's been locked up for 100 years. She has probably forgotten what it feels like after being sealed away and would scream bloody murder if someone tickled her for the first time in so long

who’s the character that most people would assume isn't ticklish, but actually is

Also Xiao because he comes off as so unapproachable, which works out in his favor because it means that someone like Benny receives all the tickles for him instead

I'm just going to write Xiao for everything at this point lmao it's because Zhongli likes to talk about it so much or he'll tell Faruzan and Benny all the stories about how Xiao would get gang-tickled by all the other Yakshas and Zhongli always points out his tickle spots to them when asked. Like, when they're holding him down to tickle him, Zhongli will reveal where Xiao is ticklish (so everywhere) and describe his reactions like "tickling his underarms procures breathless laughter" or "he might snort if you manage to poke just under his ribs" and this is obviously very embarrassing to Xiao and he's trying to beg Zhongli through his laughter to stop exposing him like this but he can't even form coherent words at this point because he's too flustered to speak alksdjf

who’s the character that somehow knows everyone else’s tickle spots and reveals them to others

As mentioned before, Zhongli knows all of Xiao's spots off the top of his head, but he's also pretty good at guessing other people's spots Faruzan acts like she can guess where other people are ticklish too, but she's usually wrong most of the time and she backtracks like "i-it's not like this is my area of expertise anyway"

Okay so Zhongli knows all about Xiao, but Xiao also knows a few of Zhongli's tickle spots like his geo arms which is the reason why he's always wearing long-sleeved clothing and gloves

Zhongli 100% because the other three are all just naturally very ticklish and Zhongli is strong. Zhongli is ticklish too, but I cannot imagine the other three being effective lers or being able to coordinate themselves to take him down lol closest to maybe being a winner besides Zhongli would be Faruzan because she's feisty but it's not even close

which character didn’t even know they were ticklish until another character tickled them

Okay, maybe she knew she was ticklish before, but Faruzan being sealed away for so long has probably messed with her memory and she probably forgot. Also, what if all her tickle spots changed while she was gone, or what if she initially wasn't very ticklish, but then just grew sensitive over time? She probably found out she was ticklish when Benny snuck up on her and she absolutely screamed when her sides were poked

which two characters have tickle fights all the time

More of a one-sided tickle fight, but Zhongli gives Xiao tickles all the time. Not like full-on tickle fights, but random pokes here and there to get Xiao to socialize with the group or when he goes to check up on Xiao (he knows Xiao is fine when he protests from being tickled) Also, Xiao gets so flustered and embarrassed from being tickled and imagine him and Benny bonding over tickle fights because Benny is also really ticklish and he tries to help Xiao get over the embarrassment of it (not that Xiao asked lmao but he appreciates the intention) and Benny doesn't understand why someone would dislike tickling because it produces laughter and good feelings so he's always tickling Xiao

It's been awhile since you've seen Xiao, you have heard some rumours about the Yaksha helping the (in)famous blonde traveller, it was odd you thought, it isn't in Xiaos nature to really travel along with others unless he feels safe with them. It didn't help much that you haven't even met the traveller but now you hear your boyfriend is.. basically ditching you and your plans for her? AND would let her call out his name if she ever needed him? Well that was the first few punches to your gut, you understand Xiao doesn't think this as much, he's a Yaksha, Mortal feelings don't.. occur to him often. And him being him he can't read social cues, or take signs or hints. He doesn't know what he's doing could temporarily hurt you, and well you'll let it slide, maybe your overlooking it.. your totally overlooking it, right?

Of course he stills comes to the inn and of course you do see him, bug everytime it feels like you see him less and less, your time with each other shortens, and before you knew it he kind of stopped showing up to things you'd planned out. You were upset, honestly your heart was crushed, you knew maybe the reasoning was stupid, and you knew you should let it go and stop feeling so jealous, there's nothing more to it then them helping each other out. You wanted to talk to him about it, not sure how to bring it up. He's always stern, and doesn't often give long enough answers, always short and straight to the point. Maybe.. you'll just wait it out for now?

It's been a bit over a few months, his absence has seriously taken a toll on you. You find yourself wondering.. strange things, is he maybe happier travelling with her? You think about the traveller, how pretty she must look, how many men she's had swinging their heads abruptly to get a glimpse of her. It became horrible, you've started seeing so less of him. you cry, but you know better then to call out his name for your selfish desires. He has his own duties to fufill, he can't be by your side all the time. You felt lost, so incredibly lost it was genuinely mind maddening. Maybe, maybe you should bring it up, maybe you'll let your selfish desires rise, let them take control for awhile.

You waited a few nights, hoping Xiao would make a stop to the inn, you'd think he'd know better to at least let you know where he's going. It's been about 4 night with no sign of him, your tired and this time you can't ignore the heavy pang of hurt in your chest, you waited another night, praying to the archons above he'll make a stop, but it wasn't too any use, so you thought. You decided it was late enough you needed rest, it was difficult staying up so late, you were turning your back when you heard swift movements, turning back and seeing Xiao. You looked at him, his face slightly tinted red, with.. tofu in hand, meekly staring you called out to him, his name sounding more like a question. Unsure if he heard you or not you continue looking at him, noticing his ears perking to your voice. "y/n ? Why are you up. It's late." He questions, though his question sounding more like a statement. Taken aback by what you'd just seen you take a moment to compose yourself. " Xiao, can i please talk to you ? I've been waiting for you to come back for awhile, and- i- I just wanted to talk to you before you go... again"

Was born in Fontaine despite being an adeptus, mainly for the fact that his parents feared their child’s safety in Liyue, since it wasn’t safe for mortals and adepti back then in Liyue

He has absolutely no clue about any other adepti and what is deemed normal for adepti, all he is aware of is that he is an Adeptus

^ He has lived among mortals his entire life which might explain why, and the fact he was never near other adepti

His main purpose for being made was to slowly drain karmic dept from the yakshas, it wouldn’t affect him but it would allow the yakshas to survive if his parents actually decided to not leave Liyue

Got abandoned by his biological parents in Fontaine (mostly in fear that Rex Lapis would find out they broke their contract and that he would find them in Fontaine), but then got adopted by the first hydro archon, so he never questioned who his bio parents are

His parents, specifically his mother, wrote a letter to the first hydro archon to ensure that he would be taken care of, as they didn’t want their child to see them suffer to the hands of the Geo Archon if he were to find out that they broke their contract to stay in Liyue

He was absolutely devastated when he found out his mother, the hydro archon, died, and it took him a few (hundred) years to come to terms with it

He does look up to Foçalors as a mother figure, he just never actively admits it in public

He is 2,100 years old

There is a high chance he knows something personal and awful about a lot of people, and will actively use it as blackmail against said person if they plan to try and tell people that he’s not human or anything that has bad intentions towards him or anyone he cares deeply for (familial relationships, friends, etc.)

He assumes a lot of stuff about people, and isn’t that surprised if he’s wrong about it, but he’s always surprised if he’s correct, and it doesn’t help that it’s literally often how he gets his blackmail

On that note: he’s unnaturally observant because of his own paranoia

He laughs at the worst moments; you’re getting threatened by someone? He is laughing. what is he laughing about? He refuses to tell you, so he could just be laughing at you getting threatened, or he’s laughing at something completely unrelated that he saw/remembered

There is a 50/50 chance that his own laugh makes him sounds drunk, despite never having drink alcohol in his entire life he’s been alive

He goes by the name Elliott (I am so original ik) but some nickname he heard people use for him are: Eli, El, “Mortal Adeptus”, or “My Grace” which is exclusively used by Xiao

Elliott saved Xiao once because Xiao somehow ended up in Fontaine, but that caused Xiao to just call Elliott either “My grace” or “My divine one” despite Elliott trying to tell Xiao that he sees Xiao as his equal

Elliott has a Cryo vision from Fontaine, and remember how I said what his purpose was being made? Yeah well since he received his vision, his entire body is just actively freezing cold, and no one can figure out why

Elliott and Xiao: mutual pining, both of them are too dumb to realize the other likes them though, or it’s really obvious that one of them likes the other (Elliott) while the other is in denial about their own feelings (Xiao)

Elliott actively called Xiao the oddest nicknames to his face, and Xiao for some reason never got mad at Elliott for it??? One of the nicknames Elliott has called Xiao to his own face was “Bird Boy”

Elliott, at one point, had to sign a contract with Zhongli so that Xiao could train Elliott on how to use a polearm because Elliott has no clue how to use his signature weapon

Elliott knows how to use a sword and a pole arm now :>

On that note: Elliott’s signature weapon is a scythe, he was gifted it by Foçalors, but since he had no clue how to yet use his polearm, he just used a sword he’s kept on him

He views the traveler as “a child he never had”, basically what Elliott thinks what his biological child would look like and the traveler just happens to look similar to his thoughts of his bio child he hasn’t had, so Elliott is just protective of the traveler <3

Elliott has adopted two kids (both ocs based off my pets), the eldest from Mondstadt and the younger from Fontaine, and both of them live in Fontaine now
