matching tattoos with yakou furio
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: yakou furio x gn!reader
cw: none, this is pure fluff!
Tumblr media
you and yakou had thought for a while about getting matching tattoos, but struggled to find something that fit the two of you
yakou is more the type for huge tattoos that cover his entire upper body, while you didn't want a tattoo that was that big
and then there was also the struggle of finding a motive that would fit the two of you
though in the end, you two went for something perhaps a bit generic, yet still sweet
both of you had one half of a heart tattooed on your index finger
and when interlinking fingers, your tattoos combined into one complete heart
it was a tattoo that wasn't very eye catching, but whenever you showed it off to others, they thought it looked rather sweet
though the two of you plan to get another tattoo in the future, once you can finally decide on a bigger one both of you are satisfied with…

Chapter 18: 百鬼夜行 - Hyakki Yakou
The Night of the Hundred Demon Parade
Your head has definitely cooled down. The distance you put between you and Noritoshi was surprisingly helpful.
You can finally see how emotional you were when you lashed out at him during your breakup. Of course there were still things you had to clear up with him, but his words were enough to calm you down.
He's not a liar. You thought. If he has some things to explain he will. So the anger ebbs away into a low simmer as you put all that aside and focus on the biggest thing right now.
War with Geto Suguru.
◇◇◇
You were summoned back home by the head of the clan. AKA, your dad.
"The Tsuchimikado clan is also participating in this war. But we will be there to assist more with recovery and evacuation, rather than frontline combat. Y/n and Hiroki, both of you will also join the combat team."
Your father will guard the recovery center (clinic on site), while your mother and some other clan members stay inside the clinic.
You purse your lips together as you walk back to the room after the meeting ends. Hiroki walks along with you. He looks down at you from the corner of his eyes.
"Don't you dare try to do this on your own.”
"I know."
You won't.
◇◇◇
December 24, 2017.
6:00pm
Location: Kyoto City, the Sacred Land of Jujutsu.
The Night Parade of a Hundred Demons Begins.
You were all stationed 20 minutes prior to the beginning of the battle. Windows and police officers who were working in cooperation with the Jujutsu Society had cleared out the crowd, leaving most of the streets bare.
It was more difficult than expected, with hundreds of office workers still in their buildings, rushing to finish in time to go home early for Christmas eve. Most of the sorcerers have been stationed in the busiest locations in Kyoto.
Noritoshi and Hiroki walked towards the central location on either side of you. They were near to you at least, and it saves you the time from looking for them in the crowd of curses.
Your eyes met Noritoshi's. His eyes softened as he held out a pinky towards you. You tapped your pinky against his.
'Stay close to me.' He mouthed.
'I know. I should be the one saying that.' You mouthed back.
'Are you still mad at me?'
You turned to look at Hiroki who was very very obviously trying to ignore the both of you, head turned away to give you both a bit of privacy.
The other Jujutsu sorcerers in the same squad were focused on clearing the area of civilians.
You drew closer to Nori, tugging on his sleeve. He didn't hesitate to lean down close.
"I promise I'm not mad anymore Toshi. I'm just-"
You hesitated, throat clogging up as his father's words echoed in your ears.
His eyebrows furrowed in worry.
"Just- stay by my side. Okay?"
He pursed his lips and nodded, taking the chance to squeeze your hand. "Okay."
◇◇◇
From a distance, a Kitsune smiles upon seeing the bustling city of Kyoto. Under the cover of a glamour, people only saw a strikingly beautiful lady. Dressed in expensive white furs and silk clothing. Her hair, long and black falling past her waist, with red ribbons tying it back.
But to the curses, she was their leader. A nine-tailed fox with the sharpest fangs and an even sharper mind.
Fire danced along her palms as she slowly walked forward, with nine long white tails tipped with red, gently swaying in the wind.
"It has been over 400 years since I was in this city. It has changed far too much."
She watched as a family of four passed along, with a little boy and a little girl all bundled up in cute thick coats, excited at the prospect of Christmas.
The little girl held a teddy bear in her arms. She grinned up unknowingly at the Kitsune, waving a hello.
Holding out one delicate hand, the Kitsune's black and sharpened nails stretched towards the group. She scratched them one by one.
The blood and life force was sucked out of the humans, making them fall to the ground. Gray skinned and hollow, their corpses immediately started rotting on the ground, and their eyeballs fell out of their sockets.
The energy was absorbed into the Kitsune as cursed energy, giving her youth and power.
People began to scream.
"Now then, let's feast upon the humans to our hearts' content."
Her fellow demons smiled. Behind the Kitsune, the Great Black Tsuchigumo of Kyoto twitched in delight.
◇◇◇
You stared off into the distance, trying to squint at the surrounding area. Hiroki was using you as his arm rest, as per usual, but you ignored him.
"See anything?" He asked.
"Not really. I can feel something heavy though. But I can't really pinpoint the location of the curses."
"No shit."
You brushed his arm off, annoyed.
“Over there! I can see them!” Todo yelled. It took a moment for all the sorcerers to realize that the horde was coming in from one direction.
“What on earth…” you were in shock. A huge, large swarming mass of black was approaching all of you. As it grew nearer, the lights illuminated the figure.
It wasn’t a black mass. It was a horde of at least 300 curses, ranging from grade 4 to grade 1. There were skeletons, sitting atop gaunt horses, howling with rage from afar.
Tsukumogami, consisting of umbrellas, old sword hilts, tables, and books, were all moving forward. They are items filled with resentment from being abandoned by their owners, which made them burst forth as vengeful curses. Bloody ghosts of old widows with pale faces and black unkempt hair, quickly crawling on all fours, bleeding profusely from their elbows and knees.
And those were simply a fraction of the curses you could make out from the frenzied chaos. The promise of death hung in the air. It almost looked like a scene out of Hyakki Yakou paintings on ancient scrolls.
“Stand clear.” You held out a hand and drew out your cursed energy.
You folded your thumb in, swept your right hand down to the ground and up in a semicircle, facing the horde of curses.
“Wide Range Oscillation technique: Niflheim.” They all froze into solid ice 20 meters away from you.
To be more specific, everything froze. A layer of frost covered streets, lights, even the plants, as the temperature in the area plummeted. You uttered a silent apology.
You immediately adopted the Inferno position. “Cursed Technique Reversal: Inferno!” You swapped your palms and the ice exploded. Everything turned from ice into flame and ashes in the matter of seconds.
The squad moved forward, taking down the remaining weakened curses. You had taken down only about a third of the frozen curses. You clicked your tongue in annoyance. It wasn’t enough.
Power was exchanged for a broader attack range.
Some of the stronger curses looked to be in good condition. Especially a Special Grade which approached Todo. He was lured away from your group following the Yokai lady. One with an extremely long dangling neck. You caught a flash of her opaque white eyes with splotches of blood red, filled with a silent murderous intent.
Chills ran up your spine. Some of the curses came from old legends and tales. They're bound to be more powerful than average.
You flew up into the sky, watching the battles. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw a civilian woman crying whilst holding a little girl to her chest. Immediately you dived in to kill a three headed ghoul, slamming it down against the pavement.
You gave them a once over, confirming no injuries before reaching out to them, “Come here! I can bring you to a safe place!” They quickly held onto you as you walked them out of the center of chaos.
“Hiroki!” You screamed. It wasn’t smart of you to leave the battlefield, but you prioritised evacuation and rescue above all else.
I’m busy!” He had his double-edged sword out, swinging it wildly and flawlessly against the curses. Another loomed to your right, the little girl screamed before you held out your hand, flattening it into a pancake before it disappeared.
“Follow me.” You brought them to the clinic. Your mother was inside making ointments with your uncles who specialize in reverse cursed techniques. “Mama! Civilians!”
Your mother motioned to the windows and medical staff, “We have emergency paramedics on site. Come here.”
The little girl clung to your pants. “Big sister, aren’t you coming along with us?”
“No, it’s okay, you go with your mom to somewhere safe okay?”
She reluctantly left you behind, carried by her mom who profusely thanked you while sobbing. “You saved our lives, may I have your name please!”
“Tsuchimikado.” You felt a lump form in your throat, but this wasn't the time to cry.
After they had left, your mother quickly gave you more essential medicines in glass amber vials.
“Off you go. And come back safely to me.” She kissed you on the forehead and bid you goodbye.
“Thanks Ma, I will.” You flew out of the makeshift clinic and quickly dove back into the battlefield. Eyeing the surroundings, crushing and tearing apart curses with your technique left and right.
Until you saw a curse launch itself at Noritoshi while he was preoccupied with a 2nd grade curse. You immediately shot forward, stood back to back with him, and pushed out a palm which activated Tornado.
“Thank you.” He gasped out, realizing he was close to having been hit.
“They seem to be swarming around you. I wonder if the smell of blood is affecting the curses.”
As if on cue, a bunch of giant cursed leeches crawled towards the both of you. You flew up, quickly jumping from building to building to stab through them. Before returning to Noritoshi’s side.
It was true. The location where he is at is incredibly congested. You continued this for about an hour or so, fighting curses back to back, surrounded by flames and smoke.
“This must be Deja Vu.” He exclaimed. Both of your eyes met and it felt like time slowed down. This very reminiscent of your first shared vision together. You wondered if he thought the same.
“It’s reality.” You retorted, throwing a spear just beside his face, killing a curse.
Noritoshi moved seamlessly around you. It was frustrating how well you both matched up as partners in battle. Even though you weren’t as close to him as you used to be, your body knew how he would move before it even happened.
Stupid soulmate bond and stupid handsome man.
As he swung his arm towards you, you ducked low and his fist met a third grade curse, pulverising it. You smoothly threw a dagger towards a looming curse, watching as Noritoshi jumped over your back to avoid it and launch arrows against incoming curses behind your back.
There was not a single wasted movement from the both of you.
He was also watching you move out of the corner of his eye. Your whip lashed out, like a fork of lightning. Well it was accurate, since your metallic whip did conduct electricity while you activated Goldenrod, stunning the curses around you.
A huge Kappa, covered in moss and dripping with muddy water, launched itself at Noritoshi. He fired three arrows, but it bounced off its belly. You didn't hesitate to lift him into your arms and fly into the air, narrowly missing the Kappa as it crushed the ground where you both previously stood.
"Y/N, I should be the one carrying you."
"It’s fine. And shoot your arrows at his head." You set him down in mid-air and he scrambled back into your arms.
"Don't let go!! I'm going to fall"
"No you're not, I'm not letting go of you." You held onto his sleeve.
He set a foot down to feel a solid invisible floor under him. You're both about 500 meters above ground. "Curious." Then he fired arrows straight into its brain with pinpoint precision, immediately killing it on the spot.
"How did you know it was the head?"
"Ah, Hiroki has faced some before. He had to learn it the hard way." You let him hold onto your back as you flew over the chaos, launching attacks when you saw openings.
Noritoshi couldn't fire arrows like this so you had to set him down, in another area that's a bit more quiet than the first one.
You both continued fighting for a while, thinning the crowd of curses easily. Far too easily. Noritoshi was grateful you had his back. It was as you promised during your first mission. Not a single curse touched him.
Before long, the area was cleared. Your eyes narrowed as you sensed a looming heavy presence of a powerful curse.
Noritoshi's hand slipped into yours on pure instinct, "A special grade is near, my love." You didn't have the thought to push him away, after having promised to stay by him.
You chewed on the inside of your cheek, before whirling around, your twin blade flipping out from underneath your sleeve. A huge black spider, much bigger than you remembered it being, came into light. This explains the lack of curses nearby.
The Tsuchigumo had changed. It had grown far larger and more fearsome than the last time you remembered it to be. Geto must have fed it more human remains.
It had the face of a demon, with two large red horns, its body had a black human-like torso which ended at the waist. From there, it was connected to the round body of a spider. There were 8 legs, with sharp red claws extending from the ends of each one.
But it's eyes were exactly as you remembered. A luminescent green that seemed to glow in the dark.
Your body remembered the feeling of fear for a moment.
“I’m right here.” Noritoshi whispered, bringing you back to the present. Things are different from before.
The Tsuchigumo lunged forward, but Noritoshi was prepared. He quickly threw out a pack of blood, “Blood Manipulation: Crimson Binding!” The Tsuchigumo lost its balance as its legs were tied by thick strands of blood.
It was able to tear through the bindings, but it took a few seconds to do so. That was all the time you needed.
“Niflheim!” You pushed out a hand, and it froze. You closed your hand into a tight fist, "Enhanced Gravity. Output at 35%".
"Slicing Exorcism!"
It was too much for the curse, your huge mass of cursed energy squeezed it down. Combined with Noritoshi's attack, it was exorcised in an instant, dissolving in black and violet sludge.
And from its remains, a huge pile of skeletons and skulls came rolling out. Remains of the deceased humans it kept to maintain its larger form. Typically, this doesn't normally happen with curses, as they usually disappear without a trace. There was lingering curse energy on the skulls and bones.
You staggered back to Noritoshi, who quickly caught you.
It felt so anticlimactic. Even as you killed this curse, it doesn't change the fact that life goes on. You do the same thing every day. Without her.
You turn to look up at Noritoshi as he wipes away a few stray tears ever so carefully. Even with the chaos in the background, he takes time to bring you back down to earth. "Y/n. We have to keep fighting."
‘Can you handle the stress?’ Was left unasked.
You nodded. "Yeah I'm good to go. Thanks Toshi."
A huge explosion took both of your attention and you quickly turned to move forward. Clearing the area that was suddenly flooded with crows.
Tengu? You guessed, but didn't think any further as you burned them all with Inferno. Making them turn to ash with one hit.
You failed to realize that Noritoshi hasn't followed your lead. Not noticing the skulls on the ground come alive and attack him. He quickly went on the defensive.
It was living hell on earth. You had never seen such a large amount of curses all at once. And they weren’t just grade 3 or 4. These were fully fledged grade 2 and above curses.
You spun around and finally realized Noritoshi wasn't beside you.
“Noritoshi? Toshi?!” You looked around before seeing him a few feet back. Why did he stop moving? You followed his line of sight until you saw it. The Kitsune whose eyes were glowing a bright golden color, hands stretching and sweetly beckoning to your soulmate.
He had a look of longing as he slowly walked towards her. You were so confused. It looked like he was in love with her. That look in his eyes made your stomach churn with envy.
“TOSHI!” You ran towards him.
He looked over to you, eyes widening. He looked back at the Kitsune, then back at you seemingly confused and unable to move.
“What are you doing?!” you hissed.
Her eyes glowed a bright Crimson red. A red magic circle formed on the ground under Noritoshi.
Oh no. Your body had moved before you realized, going forward to reach him.
Your fingers stretched as far as they could towards Noritoshi's, but it missed him just by a few inches.
They say all is fair in love and war. But to you, it never felt that way. Nothing was fair.
Frustrated tears ran down your cheek as Noritoshi was pulled by an invisible force, quickly settling down a few feet away from the Kitsune, to her left.
A ring of fire emerged around him, lighting up his features in a hauntingly beautiful way.
Hiroki was in the same situation on her right side, you numbly realized. As well as two other Jujutsu Windows assigned to your area. They struggled but were trapped within an invisible barrier that encapsulated the markings on the ground.
"I wouldn't move if I were you. Little miss esper chan. You move and they die." She sang. Her voice was melodic, making you a bit woozy.
For a moment you thought she looked like Sora, but you cleared your head, refocused on her, and remained still. Your vision clarified, seeing the features of the Kitsune clearly.
There was a huge amount of cursed energy seeping out of her. The Tsuchigumo was like an infant in comparison to this Kitsune.
The two other windows behind struggled against the flaming magic rings, but they couldn't move.
She flicked a hand, the circles glowed and a flash of light appeared. Thorns pierced both windows and they crumpled to the ground, twitching. Dark crimson spilled across the ground.
Well fuck. Your palms began to sweat, and your thoughts were moving at a breakneck pace.
"I'll save those two for dinner."
Your insides wrung themselves in anxiety at her words.
"But these two are obviously close to you. Your scent hangs over their bodies. Would you like me to spare one?" She smiled, salivating from seeing the pain and hurt on your face.
"Make a choice. Choose one man. The one you love more."
"Jujutsu Sorcerers always face death in their daily endeavours," Satoru's words echoed in your ears.
Time seemed to slow down. Your memories quickly flashed before your eyes.
"It's normal to put your life on the line. It's sad but normal to lose your friends, comrades and family. I don't think there's a lot of Jujutsu Sorcerers who haven't faced a form of loss before. Knowingly or unknowingly." He had told you as he stood with you before Sora's grave.
They had some degree of information on your technique. You knew it was Suguru's doing and regret ever showing him how it works when you were so young.
"I am merciful aren't I? Choose one man and I might just spare his life. Or I might spare the other one's instead. Who knows?" The Kitsune sang delicately as she slowly paced around. Holding both men hostage.
"Won't you take me instead?" You asked.
"Darling, no!" "Shut the fuck up sis!" Both men yelled at the same time.
The Kitsune smiled as though the cat got the canary. "Oh I wish I could. How I wish it could be! But if I take you, you could tear me to shreds in an instant. After all, you took down that Tsuchigumo in an instant didn't you?"
You stood still, not daring to move and noticed that the windows have stopped moving. Dead, you assumed.
You analysed her powers in the span of a few seconds. First, she seemed to have a limit as to where she can activate her magic circles.
Second, how many circles can she activate at once? Why weren't you taken as hostage as well.
You must have had something they didn't. Or something that didn't make it easy to fool you. You saw Noritoshi getting hypnotised momentarily. Maybe it was that knowledge that saved you.
Third, is the attack activated within the circle, or do her attacks merely use the circle as a target point?
Your eyes are better than most and you're gifted with fast reflexes. You tried to think back on the two that were taken down by her earlier.
It was a piercing attack. Even if it's from outside, your spacial warp barrier can only work in one area at a time. Using it around both men isn't possible for you right now.
So it came down to your speed. You really are forced to choose someone.
"Make a move without answering me, and I will fire at both of them."
And you have to make sure your body doesn't make a single move for the time being.
Your eyes flicked over to Hiroki, who looked so helpless that your heart broke. He seemed to have accepted death. He urged you to get to Noritoshi with his eyes.
Then you tried to look at Noritoshi the best you could. He was staring at you like he was at a museum and you were a piece of art. You were so shocked by how calm he looked.
"Your brother." He smiled. He drank in the sight of you, blood of curses and curse users alike all over you. But still every bit as radiant and as beautiful as you always have been to him. Wanting to engrave your image in his final moments.
Oh how he loved you so much. "Go to him, my love."
You closed your eyes. You had to choose to let one go tonight.

wearing yakou's jacket
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: yakou furio x gn!reader
summary: you forgot your raincoat and yakou won't let you leave without one, so he lends you his!
Tumblr media
"where are you going?"
you were about to head out of the nocturnal detective agency, when yakou stepped in front of you, glancing down at you.
"i wanted to buy some meat buns. why? do you still need something from me?"
yakou raised an eyebrow.
"okay, let me rephrase that: where are you going dressed like this?"
he almost sounded like some possessive boyfriend and him gesturing at your body didn't help much with that.
"something wrong with my outfit?"
you huffed defensive, which only caused yakou to shake his head and sigh, before taking off his jacket.
"it's raining outside, genius. like it does everyday! if you don't wanna catch a cold, then you have to wear a raincoat!"
as he spoke, yakou wrapped you in his jacket and carefully zipped it up. it looked way too big on you, but it was so comfortable and warm. and it smelled just like yakou… and like cigarettes.
"there, much better! and not so cold anymore, right?"
yakou smiled down at you, even lowering himself to be eye to eye with you, only to pull the hood of his jacket over your head.
"t-thanks…"
you mumbled in return, only pulling the hood further down, in hopes of yakou not seeing how flustered you had become when he had leaned in so close to you…

dating yakou furio
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: yakou furio x gn!reader
tags: wholesome fluff, secret relationship, protective boyfriend!yakou, cuddling + kissing + making out, sharing clothes
Tumblr media
yakou is the type who would like to show off his partner to his friends and colleagues, mostly because they wouldn't believe otherwise that he pulled someone as amazing as you
however, due to his job he has to keep his relationship with you a secret and only a select few know that he's dating you and even fewer of them even met you
yakou knows how dangerous his job is, so he tries to keep you as far away from it as possible, which he doesn't always manage to do
yakou tells you not to visit him at work, which you don't always listen to
he always acts like he's upset with you for not obeying him, but he's always happy to see you around at the detective agency
when it's just the two of you there, he'll take the day off and the two of you just laze around all day, cuddling on the couch
yakou is a huge cuddler and once you start to cuddle, he gets very clingy and you won't get rid of him for the rest of the day
more than often you'll stay the night at the detective agency because of it, which was why yakou bought that couch to begin with
his bed was rather small and wouldn't fit two people, so on days when you visited him, he took the couch instead and let you sleep in the bed
yakou often lets you wear his clothes when you stay the night and he especially enjoys seeing you in his big rain coat!
yakou is a smoker, but if you smoke as well, he'll try to stop smoking for your sake, since he doesn't want you to copy his bad habits
since yakou is very protective of you due to his job, he tries to teach you some basic self defense
but most of the time it ends up with you pinned underneath yakou and the two of you kissing and giggling, knowing you'll never get far with training, since you always end up getting distracted…

Chapter 17: Inferno: Flames of Hell
You wake up in the infirmary. Hiroki had healed you beforehand. You abruptly sat up, looking around the room, before finding him, cleaning some medical tools. “Thanks Niichan.” He smiled as he came over to hug you and messed up your hair.
“It’s okay. I didn't think Satoru would push you this hard. He’s a good teacher for you, much as I hate to call him a good teacher. Did you consider going to Tokyo Jujutsu Tech instead? You could’ve gone ya know, we wouldn’t hold you back.”
You mulled it over. “I think I’m staying here. I’ve settled in and everyone around me is amazing. They’re like a second family to me.”
He smiled before looking a bit annoyed. “Yeah well, glad you like them at least. Someone’s been waiting all this time for you. Rude if I don’t let him see ya, right sis?”
Hiroki walked over to the door and opened it, revealing Noritoshi with one hand up as if to knock.
Your mouth opened and closed.
“Y/n.” He was still so determined. What makes him have so much faith in you? You looked back to Hiroki, but he only gave you his trademark "Get your shit together" look and waved you off.
You walked up to Noritoshi by the doorway, and he stood back to let you through. You both ended walking quietly side by side in the hallway.
Noritoshi smiled, you didn’t run away from him for once.
"Y/n, can we… talk if you're up for it?" He asked quietly, a small sad smile on his face.
You took a deep breath, turned to face him and were thrown into a vision.
◇◇◇
"They've found us, run for it, love." Hotaru dragged you away from the small inn you were both staying at.
You stumbled after him and ran off. A member of the Abe clan had seen the both of you in the midst of fighting curses at an abandoned shrine. They tried to chase the both of you down, but you both fought back and ran further away until they’ve lost sight of you.
But currently, you are facing a much larger problem. A shadow in the distance. Just the silhouette of the curse was enough to etch despair deep in your bones.
With four large arms, two faces and a gigantic body, Ryomen Sukuna could be identified easily. You grabbed onto Hotaru and tried to push you both forward with your technique.
"Uraume. After them. I've heard rumours about a fated pair. It seems as if they are the ones." Sukuna smirked.
"As you wish." Uraume quickly caught up to the both of you.
They quickly froze your escape path, sealing you both in a circle of ice. Hotaru held you as you activated Inferno to break the ice and continued running. You were both dangerously running low on cursed energy. Especially as Hotaru had just fought over a dozen of curses.
"Hooh?? The woman does have power. I want her." Sukuna's eyes lit up madly. He shot a flaming arrow, forcing you to push Hotaru behind you.
Sukuna focused and slashed both Hotaru from behind. Uraume shot shards of ice towards you, but Hotaru shifted your positions.
You watched in horror as your lover took the attack for you. He was bleeding profusely and even his technique couldn’t help him from anemia.
“No no no no no, stay with me.” You screamed at him.
“Misaki, my love, for you I’d burn down the world, travel across thousands of miles, and kill anyone who tried to hurt you. I love you and I’m sorry we can’t be together much longer.” He teared up while cupping the side of your cheek.
“No, don’t go.” You leaned down to press your lips against his, trying to give him a bit of air. But it wasn’t enough. His hand fell limp and he breathed his last. Kamo Hotaru died in your arms.
"Hotaru, no." You sobbed out painfully, hugging his cold body to your chest.
"The talk of the town huh? You must be the soulmate pair judging by the marks on your hands." Sukuna stepped up with Uraume right behind him.
He was a terrifying sight upclose.
You froze as he knelt down and lifted your chin, "What a beauty you are. I wouldn't mind playing with you for a while and having you all to myself, before eating you up." He licked his lips lavisciously.
"So young, and such soft skin." Sukuna's hand trailed down your cheek and squeezed along the curves of your trembling body.
You never felt more dirty in your life. A man other than your lover, touching you like this. "Be my toy, would you? Your lover is dead after all. Why not humor me?" Sukuna jeered. He didn’t care about your silent sobs, even relishing in how you looked right now.
Utterly destroyed. With a monster claiming he wants you for himself.
He grabbed your chin roughly and forced a kiss on your lips. You snapped out of your shock, feeling your anger overcome your fear.
‘I'd rather die than let him have me.'
And so, you pushed Sukuna and Uraume far away and built a solid air barrier around you and Hotaru.
You thrust a hand out and an oil lamp came flying your way. It broke in front of you. Inferno was activated to spread the flames quickly. 'We are meant to stay together, my love, even if it means death.' You quickly slit your throat with a harsh cut, not wanting to die a slow death in the flames.
You choked out blood as Sukuna came near. He shattered your barrier easily with Dismantle, reaching for you. You panicked. You weren't going to die in time.
And you did the craziest thing you could think of. Activating Niflheim simultaneously with Inferno. Freezing everything around you, except for the still burning flames consuming you and Hotaru.
It didn't help too much. Sukuna produced flames out of his hand, while Uraume easily manipulated the frost.
Lightning shot out of your hands dangerously in your confusion. You don't know what you just did. But it didn't matter. You were quickly losing consciousness.
Crimson splattered onto the ground and over Hotaru’s corpse. You burned past the limits of your cursed energy, releasing bolts of lightning.
Sukuna’s hand reached out and activated his reverse cursed technique on you. “Not so fast.” He looked angry.
He was able to seal the cut, but with the last of your energy, you used Inferno on your body, bursting into flame before Sukuna and Uraume.
They were forced to back away and stared as you and Hotaru both turned to ash, the heat an insane temperature they couldn’t approach.
Sukuna threw his head back and cackled, "The lengths people go to for love. What fools Jujutsu sorcerers are!"
◇◇◇
The vision ends. You and Noritoshi gasp harshly. The hallway is covered in ice.
You slowly realized you unconsciously activated Niflheim. You swiped your palm through the air. All the windows along the hallway simultaneously opened.
The vision was far too vivid.
You covered your throat with your hands as though to stop a wound from opening, remembering how the dagger dragged through your neck bones. The flames felt painful as they ate at your body without your cursed technique protecting you from them.
Noritoshi kneeled down and touched his gut. He felt the poison of Sukuna's slash and Uraume's ice eat his body. After his past soul had died. Hotaru's spirit watched the events transpire from above you. So he was able to see it from a 3rd person's point of view.
How Sukuna had wanted you. How you ended your life for him.
You staggered back from Noritoshi, face as white as a sheet, running for the bathroom with bile rising up your throat.
That vision was eerily reminiscent of how Sora-nee died in your arms. You were on the borderline of hyperventilating.
Noritoshi ran after you, “Wait!”. You stumbled into the girl’s bathroom, opened a cubicle door and vomited everything out into the toilet.
The sounds of retching were loud even from outside. Noritoshi halted in his tracks when he saw that you’ve gone into the ladies room.
Fuck manners. If it was to take care of you, he doesn’t care about being gentlemanly or if he was called a pervert. He rushed in, wrapped his arms around you, pulled back your hair and rubbed soothing circles on your stomach.
You were vomiting pretty hard, to the point where it hurt your abdomen. “My dear angel, shhhh it's okay, I'm here.” You continued heaving and reached back with one hand to push him away. But Noritoshi was incredibly stubborn, not letting go of you.
“Noritoshi I literally smell like shit, please leave.”
“Nope. I don't care. I will take care of you. As your soulmate I’m responsible for you.”
Your eye twitched at that.
Both of you were still trembling from the aftermath of the vision. How terrible and cursed it was, that past life.
You closed the lid, flushed the toilet, then lifted it again. You leaned over with heavy breaths, but it looks like you’re done puking. Noritoshi just sat behind you, his hands stroking your belly, keeping your body warm.
It was nice. But he’s not yours anymore. It was only then you felt something wet on your shoulder. Noritoshi was crying.
“It almost… felt like I just lost you… My darling...” loud hitches of breath echoed in the bathroom.
You froze, not knowing how to comfort him at a time like this. You patted his head, and he leaned into your hand.
Even as you close your eyes, the images keep racing through the back of your eyelids. Flames. Blood. Lightning. Hotaru.
“I need to wash up in the sink.”
Noritoshi gave a soft grunt in reply, arms tightening around your waist. You stood up and half dragged him out of the cubicle. He never lets go. His arm is still around your waist, making you half waddle around the bathroom with him like a penguin with its child.
You brush your teeth with the spare toothbrush Jujutsu High has for its guests and rinse your mouth with several cups of mouthwash, the strong scent of mint hanging in the air. You spat it all out, but you still felt nauseous.
You turned and wiped away his tears with your sleeve. He bent down and tucked you under his chin, breathing in your scent. You were both alive. It was fine.
You pulled back when the door slammed open. It was Momo and Mai.
“......”
“.....”
The four of you had a stare off before realizing Noritoshi wasn’t supposed to be in there.
“Kamo kun, you’re in the wrong bathroom. Have you dumbed down so much you’ve forgotten?” Momo asked with wide eyes.
Mai stared at you and noticed how sick you looked. You just shook your head at her and quickly walked out of the bathroom, shrugging Noritoshi’s hand off of you.
'To hell with all this.', you thought to yourself
◇◇◇
"Wait!"
Noritoshi caught up to you in the hallway, grabbed your hand and turned you around to face him. He stopped caring about where he was.
"I'm never giving up on you. I won't, because I love you and I know that now."
You sniffed hard, tears running down your cheeks. You've had enough of this confusion. If you're being truthful to yourself, you missed him.
You missed Noritoshi and his kind words. His touch and his kisses. His soft bits of encouragement and picnic dates.
You want him back. It was just as Hiroki had said, you were pushing Noritoshi away without giving him a chance to explain himself.
But the vision completely broke you. You pulled your hand away, "Don't touch me. Don't follow me. Don't come near me." You whispered.
Noritoshi swallowed hard. "Why won't you let me explain myself?" But you just shook your head.
"Maybe we weren't what we thought we were." You didn't mean it, but you still forced the words out painfully.
Noritoshi flinched, "Why would you say that? You believed in us. I still believe in us. In you."
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, "That vision. Why did we have it? We could be dooming ourselves by staying together, Noritoshi, I can't do that to you. Maybe I am cursed to hurt the ones I love."
He scoffed. "Preposterous. They are our past lives, but they aren't us. We are different people with different choices. You’re not cursed Y/N, since when have you become so narrow minded?"
You stiffened. "Maybe I have always been so. I'm just tired of everything now. Plus I need to take down that damn curse, even if it kills me." You spun on your heel.
Something inside Noritoshi snapped. He now understands how it feels to be pushed away like an outsider. He grabbed your wrist, ignoring your angry whispers as he single-handedly dragged you back into his room.
This man was strong. Not even your hardest tugs threw him off balance. He slammed the door shut once you were both inside and you felt a bit shaken, not having any place to run.
"Why are you trying to do this all by yourself?! You may be a Special Grade Sorcerer, but that doesn't mean you're invincible! A war is not won by one person. Can't you trust me?" He hissed.
"Trust you? Trust you?! How about me? Big words from someone who didn't even want to let me meet or know the people he holds dear to him."
This was the most idiotic argument you had in your life. You didn't even mean half the words that you were saying. Just wanting to win a pointless argument you wished never existed in the first place.
"I thought you agreed to speak to me if that was still bothering you. You said we would work things out together." Noritoshi shook your shoulders.
You held your tongue not knowing what else to say. Noritoshi was still so sweet after all this mess. Pulling you into a warm embrace, patting your head as he cries into your shoulder.
"Will you stay with me at least? During the war.”
"Of course." You didn't even think as you agreed. Even Noritoshi looked surprised at your lack of reluctance. "I won't lose you."
You both stood awkwardly there, not knowing what to do. Noritoshi didn't want you to leave yet, wanting to bask a bit more in your presence. His mark cooled down as his hand slipped into yours.
But you stepped and turned away from him, ignoring how his fingers desperately clung onto the hem of your shirt. "I'll go then… Don’t want to intrude... "
"Would you like to stay for dinner and talk?" He called out hopefully.
"Thank you for the offer, but I'll be with Hiro-nii in my room." You purse your lips.
"I love you." He said once more. There was no room for hesitation in his voice.
You paused, temples throbbing heavily from the onset of a headache. Too many thoughts raced through your head and not all of them were good.
"I don't know what you heard the other day, but I will never take in any concubines. You're my one and only, Angel."
You only half believed him right now, his words going in one ear and leaving through the other. ‘People can lie. He is capable of lying.’ your shitty brain just makes every situation sound worse each time. This type of negative line of thinking was so unhealthy.
He must have understood your thoughts.
"My love please," he's begging you now. You turn to him, face full of confusion and hurt. You opened your mouth, and thought better.
This wasn't the best time to run your thoughts.
"I’m sorry for being in a really bad headspace right now. Are you willing to wait for me?" This time it was you who asked him this. Noritoshi studied your face before nodding. “That’s okay. As you have with me, I will do the same with you.”
You sucked a deep breath, eyes watering. “I’m scared.”
“It’s okay to be scared, we are just kids. We aren’t supposed to bear the weight of saving a nation this early on.”
“I don’t want to lose anyone anymore.”
“You won’t. We won’t.”
“I’m sorry for being such a pain. I know we need to talk about all of this, eventually.” You couldn’t help the whimpers that came out of your mouth.
“I love every bit of you. Even if you're like this… No... Because I understand how you feel. You have a right to be angry, because I held back a lot of things from you. But that doesn’t mean I don’t miss you or love you.” He carefully put out a palm facing up, allowing you to make a choice. You slowly put your hand over his.
“For real?” you whispered so quietly, he had to strain his ears to hear you.
“For real. Since when have I lied to you?”
‘Not once.’ you numbly thought.
Who knew a man could be so delicate. He held your hand lightly, not daring to squeeze it. Just a sign of openness and faith. He lowered his head towards you, eyes hooded.
You shivered as his lips brushed against the back of your hand. Soft, warm and plush. Like the first time he kissed you on the cheek. Shaky yet loving.
"Get some rest then, good night." You left the room.
He wondered if you still loved him now. Gone were the nights you soundly slept in his arms. He could barely pull himself together as he readied himself for dinner and bed.
Back in your room, you sobbed into your pillow. It hurts so much, because your faith in Noritoshi isn’t what it used to be. You wish for yourself to trust him like you did before. It’s frustrating.
There are times you wish you never heard that conversation. But that means staying ignorant to his familial affairs which won't do you any good in the long run.
Love is painful. Love feels like you've filled your lungs with water and you can't breathe. Sometimes it's like that icy inhale of the cold morning air on the winter solstice.
But it also keeps you going. The warmth of being in Noritoshi's arms earlier was more than enough to convince you to stay.

Chapter 19: Stay With Me
You remain silent.
"No answer, hmm??" The Kitsune grinned. But deep inside she was pissed. Another technique of hers lies in knowing who you'd prefer to save and manipulating you into hesitating so that you’d lower your guard down.
You are the largest threat to them here in Kyoto after all. But you didn't trust so easily. Especially the words of a Special Grade curse who obviously has something planned.
You carefully took in a deep breath. And in less than a split second, you turned and ran towards Noritoshi, with one hand pointing behind you towards your cousin.
Your barrier activated around Hiroki while you moved to position yourself in front of Noritoshi. You whipped out your blades, ready to parry her thorns.
As soon as your feet moved from position, the magic circles flared and activated their sequence.
Both boys realized what happened after a few seconds, the Kitsune's attack and your movements were too fast for them to follow.
She had launched her thorns in your direction. You tried to block as much of them as you could, but some got through your openings.
There were too many, and it was much faster than you expected. It was hard, not fighting with a guard around you.
You numbly stared down at your open wounds, feeling the pain in a distant manner. She had cleanly pierced through your ribs. While her other large set of thorns had bounced off your barrier, protecting your cousin.
The magic circles beneath both boys disappeared, as did your warp around Hiroki.
“Y/N!!” Noritoshi stared in horror. Your back was still to him, but he could see the protruding blood-stained thorns. Time slowed down as blood gushed from your lips.
He catches you as you fall towards the ground. An insane heat spreads throughout your body. Something was very wrong.
She laughed maniacally at the scene unfolding before her. "Jujutsu Sorcerers are so weak. So easy! You all crumple at the sight of your most beloved ones in danger."
It's scary isn't it? Putting your life on the line for your comrades. Will you die today?
The Kitsune launches an attack at the both of you, but Hiroki quickly steps and defends against her. She is forced further back as Mechamaru shoots out a laser beam from a distance.
You were trying to use your reverse cursed technique, with no avail. Your hands and legs can't move. It's a temporary paralysis. So you couldn't pull out the thorns and then heal your wounds.
"Love! Talk to me! What's wrong?"
You couldn't even answer him or move your mouth. Blood continued seeping out of your wounds.
You slumped as Noritoshi gathered you in his arms. How unlucky. There were barely any curses anymore and yet this had to happen. But you had no regrets.
You looked up at Noritoshi with so much love in your eyes. But his own were filled with agony, screaming at you to hold on while blood was pouring down the side of your mouth.
Tears streamed down your face. You were happy, because you had the power to save the ones you love this time.
But you really wanted to grow old with Noritoshi. See the wrinkles line his face. Experience everything with him. You'd take him back in a heartbeat and tell him that he owned you and your heart since the day you met. That you loved him even when you thought he put on a farce to be with you.
Even if he were to love or be with another woman. Even if it pained you to think of him as a distant person in your life, being by his side was the happiest you've felt in your entire life.
He pressed his lips against yours, trying to give you more air. His hands trembling against the thorns embedded inside of you. Your blood was spilling everywhere, and he didn't want to look down to see his hands covered in red.
'There's so much blood,' he thought to himself, panicking. It was staining both of your clothes, dripping onto the pavement.
"Your reverse cursed technique! Use it!" He yelled hoarsely. In smooth movements, he ripped out the thorns one by one and applied pressure onto your wounds.
His heart plummeted as nothing happened. But he didn't lose faith. If you were paralysed, it was up to him to save your life.
Noritoshi did some quick thinking, remembering the content in the Gojo family records of Soulmates. He bit his thumb and forced his blood into your mouth.
"Drink my love, please drink it." Turns out you didn't have to do much. The blood hit your tongue, and he activated his technique on your blood.
Usually this would be impossible. Blood Manipulation only works on the user's own blood, but the power of soulmates isn't one to be taken lightly.
He read through your vitals, RBC (red blood cell), platelet, and WBC (white blood cell) count, and saw the rising blood pressure and temperature. He did his best to stabilize your vitals.
It worked. Your head cleared, and even while paralysed, you quickly managed to seal your wounds. You continued activating your reverse cursed technique, not stopping for a moment.
If it was any minute longer, you would have died. But Noritoshi worked way too fast out of desperation to keep you alive.
"Stay with me, angel. Good, your wounds are finally sealing." He leaned down and continued applying pressure onto the open punctures.
He continued to scan and manage your blood pressure, and found something. It was a foreign substance in your blood. Something like a black tar, attacking your insides and messing with your nervous system. Alongside with it was a poison slowly seeping through your blood.
"What on earth is that? Is that the technique of the Kitsune?" He furrowed his eyebrows.
But with complete hold over your blood, he was able to manipulate it into leaving your body by going outside one of your wounds.
It was so painful, more tears fell down the sides of your face, while you were still in paralysis.
"This will end soon, I promise. Hold on."
Noritoshi blocks out everything else. Completely ignoring Todo and Mechamaru who are facing the fox behind him.
As soon as the black substance was out, you finally could move, trembling and heaving out more blood.
"No, calm down. Calm down! Y/N!" He pressed you back down onto his lap as you tried to sit upright. “Love, please!”
Hiroki was fighting the Kitsune with tears running down his face, screaming bloody murder as he striked and aimed at it.
It seems as though the magic circles require a ton of cursed energy. The Kitsune doesn't seem to be activating them anymore. She was now on the defensive, not having expected reinforcements. Still, it was clear she overpowers them all.
A red symbol appeared on your right eye, a cross identical to Noritoshi’s red flowing scale mark. You bent over to the side and started puking out a blue substance mixed with your blood. Moving to kneel down on all fours, while Noritoshi held you.
“Get it all out, love, faster.” He was frantic like he’d never been before. Pressing a palm against your neck and forcing you to remove this new poison right away.
An alarming amount of blood came out of you and pooled on the concrete. Even though he knew you needed to force it out of your system, you were still losing blood fast, and it wasn’t good. Your skin slowly turns into a sickly pale shade.
Thank goodness for Noritoshi, who could help push out the poison with brute force. If you were stuck with anyone else, you'd be dead right now.
As soon as the poison is completely out, he pulls you up and away from the bubbling blue liquid on the ground. “Close your wounds. That’s enough. Anymore and you’ll lose too much blood.”
The mark on your eye disappears.
Noritoshi cradles you in his arms. Both of you were drenched in blood, the blood of the enemy and your own, but he didn't care as he held you close.
“Steady darling. Stay steady. You’re okay. You’re with me.” Tears continuously fell from his eyes. You tried to reach up, wanting to comfort him, but your arms could barely move. 'Don't cry Toshi. Please don't' You thought.
"I love you, please don't leave me alone. I can't live without you." He choked. With one hand on your wounds, Noritoshi did his best to ensure you didn’t lose any more blood. He tried to make it stay within your system, circulating properly.
You looked up at him with blood and tears running down your face. 'I love you too, Noritoshi, it's always been you. It has to be you,' you thought out loud.
You took deep breaths, grunting at the pain. The pounding headache you’ve had for a while slowly started to clear. You were now able to completely seal your wounds, trying to do it carefully to prevent scarring.
Noritoshi placed a hand over yours as you healed yourself. You turned to look at the Kitsune that was preoccupied with other sorcerers. They were going to die at this rate.
You feel light-headed and your eyes keep fluttering. It was hard to stay conscious at this point. Noritoshi slowly lifted your hand to kiss your knuckles ever so softly. “Stay with me, my heart.”
You will. If it was the last thing you’d do, you’d do anything to stay with him.
The reverse cursed technique activated and the wounds sealed tight and clean.
“I think I’m good now..." You tried to sit upright, breathing heavily. He worriedly looked over at you.
"You saved me, so I now owe you my life. Not that it's never been yours in the first place. Thank you for that Toshi," You heaved yourself up to stand, spitting out another mouthful of blood onto the ground.
“You saved MY life, darling. And what do you think you’re doing? You’re still hurt. Let’s bring you to the clinic. Come.” He beckoned you there.
"I didn't lose THAT much blood. It just looks really bad. Maybe a pint or two at most. I'll manage."
"No, you stay back. You need rest." He tried to push you to the direction of the clinic but you held fast.
Noritoshi stared into your eyes. They reflected the light of the fires behind him, making them look like glowing orbs of flame. You were his Phoenix, he realized. And he was utterly entranced by your charisma.
"I can still fight."
You knew your limits well, having trained all your life for a situation like this. Even now, your reverse cursed technique was activated in the background, simultaneously with your combat techniques.
Now that all the poison was out of your system, you only had to worry about the physical injuries.
"I don't want to lose you," Noritoshi whispered, broken.
"You won't. Because I'm much stronger than this, I promise you." You grabbed his wrist, "So stay with me. You said that just now right? I’ll stay with you, I promise."
“I can’t ever keep you down, can’t I?” He bitterly smiles to himself as he presses his forehead against yours. Eyes filled with pain, because he knew you were right. Jujutsu sorcerers always fight to surpass their limits.
“No, you can’t. But you already knew that since before, didn’t you? After all, you’re the same as I am.”
Noritoshi couldn't do anything else, but to kiss you. You returned it with just as much passion. It tasted of dirt and blood, but to both of you, it was like a breath of fresh air.
Both of your red strings slowly crept out into the open, invisible to everyone else except the two of you. The broken ropes reattached and you felt your mark burn for the first time in weeks.
But there was no time to celebrate.
"I've got this bitch to kill. Just watch the other curses in the area. I've got her."
He let out the biggest sigh you’ve ever heard. “Okay. I’ll be right here. Cleaning up the rest. Right behind you.”
Your eyes zeroed in on the Kitsune who turned to you, shocked that you had survived her poison.
She quickly pushed out another palm with the same insignia flashing in blood red. But you were faster, moving past Noritoshi's arms and in an instant, shoving both of your blades into her gut.
“Get back!” You yelled to everyone else. There was a reason as to why you were most effective when you did your missions alone.
She tried to pull away. Flames suddenly engulfed the both of you. But it didn't matter, because you've got a hold on her.
You didn't hesitate to choke her and wrap your legs around her waist.
"Fucking bitch," You spat out.
Her eyes flashed a brighter gold and the flames surrounding the both of you went even hotter. Burning the lamp posts and pavement in the vicinity. The ground warped and started flowing a bright red.
Noritoshi was forced back from the insane heat. The other curses and poor unprepared Jujutsu sorcerers closer to the both of you burst into flame and disintegrated.
You couldn't see anything at all. Just the Kitsune, and a wall of fire. You thought about the damages distantly, and automatically used your technique to fly high up in the sky with her still in your chokehold.
"We curses deserve to rule this land. Just as we did thousands of years ago during the Heian period. What makes you think you're any better than us? You pathetic Jujutsu sorcerers are slowly dying out while ignorant weak humans stay protected by their ignorance. What are you doing this for?" She hissed.
"I don't care about any of you curses," your throat closed up, anger rising at the thought of innocent sorcerers dying in the middle of combat.
"You could join us and be stronger!" She pleaded.
Fury was evident on your face. You gripped her throat tighter, your fingers wrapped in your spacial barrier to prevent you from her fire.
"Or you can shut up and die right here." You snarled.
The Kitsune saw that you were going for it. She raised her hand and the flames turned blue. If you weren’t fast enough you’d melt. This flame was far more than what you were used to handling.
What is stronger? Flame or ice?
You set Niflheim to the lowest setting you could.
"Absolute Zero."
Immediately the flames extinguished and turned to cold smoke. Ashes and steam billowed in the air, making it hard for anybody to see anything.
The Kitsune under you screamed as she slowly froze over. But she was still moving. Not enough?
You released your technique and the both of you did a free fall from the sky.
You took a leaf out of Satoru’s book and slammed her down hard on the pavement, simultaneously releasing Goldenrod with a proper activation at over 3000 volts. You've been perfecting this attack with Hiroki for weeks.
A loud crack of thunder with a flash of lightning shot out of your hands, incinerating her on the spot. Not a trace left as the curse disappeared into black smoke. The remnants of her final screams echoed in your ears.
You placed your palm against the still hot pavement and activated Niflheim to cool things down within the area. Steam fizzed out as the flames were put out.
You crouched down low on the ground to catch your breath, those last two attacks took a lot out of you and you were running low on cursed energy.
You have a lot. But it wasn't unlimited, unlike how Satoru could regulate his to an insane extent. Even now, you can feel some pain in your chest and try to heal yourself further.
You felt omnipotent. There's no other way to describe it. You say you hate fighting, but the rush of defeating a powerful opponent is like no other.
This side of you that enjoys beating down curses is rising, you couldn't stop smiling. But you felt a soft hand bring you slowly back down to earth.
"Darling?"
You looked up at him, still grinning. Ignoring the blood running down one side of your face.
"Darling."
Ah. That steady presence. The beautiful person whom you live for.
"My love, let's clear up the remaining curses. Celebrate later."
"Mmmm." You smiled at him, feeling yourself come back down.
You squeezed his hand. Noritoshi could feel your elation. It was almost electric. That ego rising up too high. Pride.
He didn't mind seeing you like this, but you tended to get overconfident in battle sometimes. Not that you didn't have any good reason not to be. This side of you was very much Gojo Satoru like, he thought to himself.
You helped clean up the remaining curses. Not much stronger ones were left. Noritoshi watched every movement of yours, staying right beside you to support you.
You staggered after seeing that your areas were clear. Noritoshi quickly wraps his arms around you, “You’re coming with me to the clinic. And I am not accepting any answer other than Yes.”
“Yes sir.” You leaned into him as he lifted you in his arms. Some of your wounds had reopened, due to your reverse cursed technique weakening. The adrenaline coursing through your body was too much that you failed to feel the pain. Which means you failed to realize that some wounds were still bleeding.
He entered the clinic and quickly put you down on one of the empty beds. One of your uncles came to check on you. Running over with an IV stand in hand. They hooked you to one of their regular Balanced Saline solutions to help with your blood loss.
Hiroki came in, battered with a bruise on one temple, but still very much alive. He was now off combat duty and on healing duty. Quickly coming over to press a hand against your chest to activate his reverse cursed technique.
Noritoshi sighed in relief, seeing your bleeding come to a halt. He winced upon feeling a sharp pain in his right arm, turning to look at the nurse that was dressing his wounds. He didn’t even notice them, being too focused on you.
He had fewer injuries than you did.
“Hemorrhagic shock sis. You scared the life outta me back there.” Hiroki groaned as he let his head fall forward.
“I would never have forgiven you if you died on me too.”
“You’re such a loser bro. I won’t die.”
“Keep talking shit like that and you might,” he pinched your side making you hiss at him.
“No fighting with the sick!” Your uncle smacked him upside his head.
“We need Hiroki! Life support emergency please!” A nurse from the other side of the ward yells. Your cousin worriedly looks down at you, “I’ve done what I can. Can you manage?”
“Yep. Go. You know how I’m fine now.”
He nods and leaves you with Noritoshi, who was still staring at you. Now with his wounds fully dressed and cleaned.
He kneels down in front of you, looking up with such a soft expression. He stayed like that for a while, feeling your vitals stabilise further. His technique was still linked to your blood somehow, which gave him a deeper sense of relief, knowing he can help you if anything else were to happen.
You felt absolutely horrible. The man had shown you time and time again that he loves you and you doubted that.
"I'm sorr-"
"Are you-"
You both spoke at the same time, eyes widening.
He motioned you to go first, but you shook your head and let him go first.
"Are you feeling okay?" He whispered.
You smiled. "I am. Just need to sleep it off. It's not the worst I've had."
He ran his fingers through his hair, seemingly distracted, before reaching over to link your right hand with his left one. "Good, good."
“Are you okay Toshi?”
“I’m fine. Hardly a dent in me today. Thanks to you.”
You gave a shy smile, quietly relieved.
“Toshi… thank you…” you whispered.
Noritoshi shakes his head, “You save me and I save you. That’s how we work. As soulmates.” He holds up your hands, marks burning brightly.
He could feel your emotions once again. It used to be this numb feeling, where you once were. But now, he can sense all the negativity in the back of your head.
Regret. A lot of sadness. Guilt. But also, a deep love for him. You never stopped loving him.
"Toshi," You started again with a bit more confidence. He looked back into your eyes, smiling and nodding.
You have to apologize. Go do it. The words were on the tip of your tongue, but somehow you were still tongue-tied.
"Noritoshi, I really owe you a proper apolo-"
"Hey," You both looked to the right to see your mom approaching you.
"Mom!"
Noritoshi jerked into a standing position, body stiff as he bowed a full 90 degree angle towards your mother.
"Ah, it's nice to meet you. I'm Kamo Noritoshi and I'm y/n's- " He froze, not knowing what to say.
You weren't dating anymore. As of now.
"Soul-"
"Boyfriend and soulmate, mom. He's my boyfriend." You smiled up at both of them.
His heart warms itself at your words. A humongous invisible weight lifts from his chest and shoulders.
She smiled and reached up to pull him into a hug. "You've made my baby girl so happy. Thank you. Call me 'Okaa-san' too."
He felt his throat tighten, "Not at all. She's been such a blessing to me. Uh- Okaa-sama."
“I need to bring my baby girl home now. Do you want to come back to the Tsuchimikado estate with us? We can oversee your recovery as well.” She offers.
Noritoshi’s eyes widened. “Ah, I’d love to. I just have to check on with my father-”
“I’ve already talked to him. A pleasant man he is, the head of the Kamo clan. More than I thought.” She had a bit of a wary expression when she said those words. Clearly still unfamiliar with Noritoshi’s family.
“If he said so, then yes please. I’d like to stay with her.”
After that, it was a blur of activity. Your mom makes sure you’re both stable enough before bundling the both of you in a car back to the estate. Noritoshi quickly shoots a text to his father to confirm things, and was actually surprised to see a jovial reply.
No doubt trying to help him patch things up with you. He closes his eyes. For now, he’ll take this as a solid win. It was working in his favor anyway for his father to so strongly support your relationship.
You squirmed uncomfortably against him, patting him to get his attention.
“Do you need anything, love?” Noritoshi nearly tosses his phone away in his haste to turn back to you. But you shook your head.
"I love you so much, Toshi. And I’m sorry for hurting you." You whispered. You were unsatisfied; it was far from a proper confession. But for now, exhaustion overcomes you. His eyes widen, but you fall asleep against him just as you see him open his mouth to reply.
He looks over the top of your head and checks your condition. You had fallen asleep. It was a miracle that you even stayed conscious for this long. Noritoshi was prepared to catch you in the middle of battle, but you held on the whole time.
Still, he was happy to hear those few words, not bothering to hide the biggest smile on his face as he tucks you into his side.
Authors notes: Guess whose form the Kitsune took on when Noritoshi looked at her as he was put under hypnosis.

Chapter 17.6: Glass Mirrors
Both you and Noritoshi had just finished another mission together. You went back to campus afterwards, washed up, and then had dinner with him in his room.
"Oh my gosh, that Korean drama an elementary school friend recommended to me? You need to watch it!" You blabbed excitedly.
Noritoshi smiles and listens to you. Your voice and presence had a soothing effect on him. He could feel his stress melting away.
He must have zoned out, because the next thing he knew, there was some coconut and mango cream on his nose. He flinched back in confusion as you laughed out loud.
"Wha-"
You cut him off as you licked the cream off his nose. "Mmm that's really sweet." It was the dessert you had prepared for him. Some mango and coconut sago, as you had found out he has yet to try sago and Taiwanese bubble tea.
"Y/n, you know you're incredibly obnoxious at times." Noritoshi shook his head.
You beamed up at him, grinning mischievously. It was one of your rare open mouthed smiles. He loved it so much.
Suddenly, a sharp pain raced across his head. He blinked his eyes. Something wasn't right.
You looked a bit fuzzy.
"I feel like I'm forgetting something." He said worriedly. You smiled, throwing your arms around him. "Toshi, you're overthinking again."
"You're right. I must be." He let you smother him in kisses. Soft touches and nose rubs along the sides of his cheek.
He felt like he was drowning in your warmth. You lifted his left hand and pressed a deep kiss on the space below his inner wrist.
It was smooth and clean skin. His brain fog slightly cleared.
Clean?... his soulmark was gone. He started panicking, rubbing furiously at his wrist. Where is it?
"Toshi baby, what's wrong?" You asked worriedly. He looked up at you.
"It's gone. Our soulmark is gone, darling." he said in disbelief. You tilted your head and lifted your right hand, showing the inner wrist.
Blood dripped down from the jagged Phoenix mark that was crudely carved onto it. It looks like someone did it with a sharp knife. He winced as you pressed a finger into it, making more blood ooze out.
"Gone? But Noritoshi, you were the one who broke our bond, weren’t you?"
You disappeared.
He woke up in a cold sweat, left hand stretched out towards the empty space, on the bed, beside him. The space that was reserved especially for you.
Tears streamed down his face as he gasped aloud. Heavy breaths echoing in his room.
His Phoenix mark burned like crazy, a bright red aflame in the dark.
It was just a dream. You weren't there with him. The smell of your shampoo was long gone. Your warmth non-existent. He grit his teeth and shut his eyes, trying to ignore the pounding in his head.
He held his left wrist close to his heart as he curled further into his sheets. The only lingering connection and warmth he shared with you.
You weren't really with him. It was just a dream.
