just saw ur “txt as your younger brother” but now i NEED a “txt as your older brother” please đŸ«¶đŸ»
a/n: hehe thank you for the request! i hope the little brother post was good. again...i am siblingless so i am going to try my best to make this realistic :D as always, requests are open!! please enjoy!!!
yeonjun
he is so incredibly protective as a big brother! i just wants to protect his little sister no matter what. it doesn't matter is you're 5 or 70, big brother yeonjun will come to the rescue. he is also the type of brother that will whine when you talk about boys because he cannot fathom his little sister runnig around with guys that probably aren't even worth your time! he always does his best to make time for you, especially when he becomes an idol. he always makes sure to go all out on birthdays and special occasions like graduations. oh my god...if you graduate from uni...baby will go all out and buy you a FUCKING CAR??? a fancy one too because 'only the best for my annoying little sister!'
soobin
he's mildly protective but that's only because your dad made him promise to always protect you. he has intentions of making god on his promise. you two are only a year apart but you two are basically twins because of how inseperable you are. as kids, you'd always play together outside and when you would get hurt, he would drop everything and run to you. he is also a big brother that would give you his share of something if you really wanted it. for exmaple, if your parents got you both ice cream and he got the one you wanted, just say the words and it's all yours. as you grow older, he makes sure to take you out and makes sure you know he cares even if he can't spend lot's of time with you. when he reveals his sistee to moa, they're all in love with you and he's scolding them, 'yah! that's my baby sister! she's mine!'
beomgyu
I know i always make beomgyu the silly one but he takes his big brother duties very seriously. like...so seriously that you questions wether he's your dad or big brother. when he becomes an ido, he spends a good chunk of his first paycheck to send you to study abroad because you'd told him you'd wanted to do that while at college. he constantly checks in on you and makes sure you have everything you need. he's also a very affectionate big brother and doesn't care when you're shoving him away, 'don't kid yourself! you love me, little sis!' and you do. in your childhood, he would always get in trouble for hanging off of you even though you were smaller than him. he still get's swatted with thenkitchen towel when you both visit home for the same reason.
taehyun
more protective than your own dad. not in a bad way but you know what I mean. he is there for you through everything. when you're sick, he brings the food your mom makes you and stays in your room to keep you entertained and to make sure you eat it all. when you’re on your period, he always comes to your room and makes sure you have all the chocolate and hot drinks you could possibly need. he’s also the type of brother who would prefer to drive you wehter you driving yourself. even if it’s for a date, he drives you and makes sure to meet the guy. you two have a look that he gives you if the guy seems like bad news. he’ll stay behind and make sure you get home safely.
huening kai
a built in best friend. huening seems like a really sweet big brother and most definetly is a protector. he knows that as an idol, people online will criticize you and his older and younger sister but he always stands up for you three. he’s the type of brother that also says his friends are off limits but in reality, would probably prefer you date one of them because he alreay knows them well and trusts them. he makes sure you and his other sisters are always taken care of, especially if you decided not to persure a career in entertainment. if you’re the sibling who goes to uni to study, he will glady pay for all of your tuition and materials. he wants his little sister to be supported and cared for.

summary: you had been so glad when your brothers had taken you under their wing with the experience that they’ve already had, that you felt like it was your duty to do the same with txt
a/n: just a very short and fluffy piece (in which I added a little bit of shipping bc all of you are at fault for making me continue this whole yoongi thing lol)
Tumblr media
“Yah.. they're so handsome, don't you think?” you were standing at a window in the BigHit building, overlooking how a bunch of photographers were taking TXT’s arrival pictures, with even more fans standing at the side screaming their lungs out because their favorites had just arrived.
“Why?” Jeongguk furrowed his eyebrows, not looking at them, but at you, “Aren't you a little too old for them?”
You snorted, “I'm only two years older than Yeonjun, that doesn't make me too old for them.”
“So you admit that you like them?” he was fishing for answers that he wouldn’t get.
“You're so childish,” you rolled your eyes and walked towards the elevator, “I just want to make sure they’re okay, that’s it.”
It was true what you said.
You and the members of TXT had a bond that none of your other members had with them. With you, it was a lot more casual, whereas they treated your brothers with a lot more respect and were quite careful around them. Not that the younger boys didn't respect you, it was just.. your brothers were like legends to them and while you were a part of that too, you acted more like an older sister to them that wanted to help them through their stressful career. That made your relationship easier with them.
“My, my.. you guys are really out there getting the attention of every single fan page,” you chuckled, gently patting Soobin's cheek, “I'd almost be jealous if I weren’t so proud.”
“Don't say that. You know if you were to walk out there right now, they'd be all over you,” Beomgyu said with a sweet smile.
“Yeah, yeah,” you shrugged, “Have you eaten yet? Probably not, right? I'm sure your managers just pushed through with the schedule without planning lunch, correct?”
Of course they did, from the looks on their faces.
You ended up ordering food, whatever they wanted – on you, of course – and then all ended up having lunch together in one of the meeting rooms, with them telling you about their day.
Happily and proudly.
Ah, you loved those moments the most, when you could tell everything was going great and they were doing okay.
You had been worried at some point, TXT got a lot more attention than people expected them to get and with them being a rookie group and – despite having been trainees for a while – being new to all of this, what it would do to them.
But they were handling it well.. maybe because of the guidance they received, but as long as they were okay, you were fine with it.
“I'm sure you guys are tired,” you put the napkin down on the table after they had finished telling you about their day, “You should rest.”
“Our managers wanted us to practice some more today,” Kai mentioned.
Yeah, you got that sentence a lot too.
“Let me worry about that. Finish eating, alright?” and so you walked out of the room, only to return fifteen minutes later with a big smile, “The car will be here in ten minutes to take you home. You have the night off, but you'll have to get up early tomorrow.”
“How did you..-” Taehyun’s eyes were wide.
“’They’ll work harder when they’re well rested’ and ‘If you push them too hard, one of them might get hurt and then it’s on you’ cards always work,” you shrugged, grinning from ear to ear when all of them got up and started hugging you.
That’s how happy they were to rest.
Kind of sad, actually.
They almost would have kissed you if it weren't for Yoongi walking in with a warning expression on his face.
“I'm glad you're having so much fun, but we have a meeting, (Y/N).”
“Ah right.. almost forgot about that,” you still hugged each and every single one of the younger boys individually, “Rest up, alright? I'll see you tomorrow.”
“Thank you, (Y/N),” they all said in unison and you just bowed like a queen, making all of them laugh.
They really loved you.
Every single person in this room.

Chapter 19
Tumblr media
Words: 2.2k
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
ïž»ăƒ‡â•äž€ ♄
The Magic Shop reopened, and Bella was stocking up the shelf behind the bar, her silver hair tied into a ponytail, and she wore a fitted black dress that hugged her figure in all the right places.
"Testing," Yoongi droned into the mic, which screeched and hurt Taehyung's ears, prompting him to cover them while wincing with discomfort. "Sorry," the older male chuckled and fixed it.
"Let's hope the customers come back," Namjoon said as the lights outside the cabaret went on. "I wouldn't blame them if they're a bit shaken from what happened though..."
"And we don't know if Neullie is coming back," Jungkook said as he took the chairs off the table and set then down. There was melancholy in his eyes and tone. "What if we don't see her again?"
"Then we'll have to report that Sehun guy to the police," Jin answered. "We aren't letting him keep her to himself."
Jimin frowned at Jin's words, "I don't think he's as bad as you make him out to be... I'm sure he's taking very good care of her."
"I agree with Jimin," Hoseok said as Dawon added last minute adjustments to his suit. "You're probably jumping to conclusions. And who knows? Neullie might come in today."
"Yeah, don't lose hope," Dawon smiled at them, pulling away from her younger brother. "I'm sure she's doing a lot better than we think she is. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if she's been living a life of luxury since that guy decided to take her in."
That was when the doors opened, and Taehyung was ready to greet the first customer that entered The Magic Shop, but instead, he was greeted with an employee—a familiar face he had missed for the longest time.
Haneul stood before them, wearing another short black dress and a cropped blazer over it. On her ears were dainty silver drop earrings, her bag on her shoulder, her hair falling down her back and her makeup light but pretty. On her feet were black laced heels. "Annyeong." She greeted her friends.
"Neullie!" Taehyung choked, and he walked toward her, inspecting any sort of injuries she may have sustained while living with Sehun, but there was absolutely nothing. "Gwenchana?! You're not hurt, are you?! Did he do anything to you?! How did you escape?!"
"I-I..." she stammered, clutching the long strap of her bag tightly, unsure of how to answer here. And then, Sehun entered, his very presence rendering the cabaret in silence.
"Annyeonghaseyo," Sehun bowed before them, and when he stood up, he found the faces of Haneul's friends full of suspicion and uncertainty with the exception of Yoongi, Namjoon, Hoseok, Dawon, and Jimin.
"What is he doing here?" Taehyung asked with a bit of hostility.
"He wanted to drop me off,” she explained to him, giving him a reassuring smile. "Nothing happened, don't worry."
"She's right," the raven-haired male bowed his head. "I never laid a finger on her. Like I promised, I've been taking good care of her. I don't want her being alone or feeling like she's a prisoner in my home. I'm okay with her working here as long as she comes home." He faced the brunette and gave her one of his eye smiles. "Call me when your shift is finished. I'll come and pick you up then."
She stared at him for a moment, her cheeks growing a slight pink and her heart skipping a beat when he spoke to her, but she answered quickly with a nod, smiling back at him, "I will. Have a good day at work."
Bella dropped her shoulders, sighing with relief. The more she looked at him, the more she realized Sehun wasn't as bad as she initially made him out to be. His eyes were sweet and kind as he looked at her friend, the initial cold exterior she had seen back then almost dissipating before her eyes. He was a big softie at heart, it seemed.
"And you as well," he chuckled, stroking her head before leaving The Magic Shop and taking a seat in his sleek black car, driving away toward the Kim Estate.
"You're finally back!" Jungkook exclaimed, running toward the girl and throwing his arms around her. Haneul staggered for a moment, feeling him tighten his hold on her ever so slightly, and he began to tremble. "I was so worried about you..." He broke into tears, burying his face in her shoulder, and she wrapped her arms around his midsection, comforting him.
"Don't cry," she rubbed his back. "I'm okay, really. Sehun's been taking very good care of me. I know he looks cold but he's very kind and gentle. He and I have become friends."
The slightly older male pulled away, wiping away his tears with the back of his hand and sniffling, "He's your friend?"
"Yeah... it's funny, isn't it?" She chuckled to herself. "I was afraid of him too, but he was very patient with me nonetheless. He's a big sweetheart. You all have nothing to worry about."
"We're so glad you're back," Jimin walked up to her and took her hand. "Let's get ready for our next performance and have a good time, alright?"
She gave a single nod, and everyone was beginning to get ready for when the customers arrived. Haneul made her way toward the back like she used to, touching up her makeup and hair and placing her bag down, hanging her blazer over the arm of the couch. While she did so, Bella and Dawon entered, and they noticed the slight flush in their friend's cheek and the little dreamy smile she harbored.
"Just what is going on between the two of you?" Dawon questioned, her arms crossed as she teased the brunette.
"What are you talking about?" Haneul asked.
"Well," the older woman hummed. "You're looking happier, and you were staring at Sehun with that twinkle in your eyes."
Haneul began to stammer, and Bella entered the room with a giggle, "Unnie is right. If we didn't know any better, the real reason he's become a big softie is because you brought it out from under the cold scowl he usually wears."
"And not to mention he's sexy!" Dawon commented with a smirk. "Like who pulls of black that well? Why, if I wasn't his noona, I would be all over him!"
"Unnie!" Haneul gasped with horror, her cheeks growing even more pink. "It's not like that at all!"
"'There may be something there that wasn't there before,'" Bella quoted quickly, folding her arms over her chest. "Think about it: pretty girl lives with big scary guy and he turns out to be a big softie. Then they fall in love!"
"We're just friends," Haneul denied quickly, thoughts of what transpired this morning crossing her mind, and she tried desperately to forget how quickly her heart was beating that moment. "Please don't make Disney references early in the morning," she was flustered now, making for the door to get to work, but someone stood there, his big eyes resting on her, and Haneul stopped herself before she could bump into him. "Soobin!"
"Noona!" He cried and called out to the others. "Guys! Haneul noona is back! Come and see!"
"She's back?!" Beomgyu gasped.
"Noona's back!" Huening Kai cheered, followed by Taehyun and Yeonjun, who all came running toward her. The five boys were thrilled to see her again since it had been a long time.
"You're okay," Yeonjun sighed with relief. "We're so happy to see you again."
"Looks like what Yoongi hyung said is true," Taehyun said. "That Sehun is taking good care of you."
"You look happier too," Soobin chuckled. "Welcome back, Noona. Let's work hard today."
"Yeah, let's," Haneul agreed as she looked between the younger boys, her smile growing wider. "Let's make the customers feel safe and happy. Let's give them something good in exchange for the bad they've experienced." She was happy to be working with her friends again. If there was one thing she missed while she was away, it was singing and playing the piano for those who came into The Magic Shop.
ïž»ăƒ‡â•äž€ ♄
Sehun pulled up beside the Kim Estate, exiting his car and locking it while he walked inside. He figured Junmyeon had already heard of what had transpired at Jeju Island, which meant there had to be a new assignment ready for Sehun to tackle. He only wondered what it could be.
"Sehun-ah," Xiumin exited one of the rooms, wearing a white suit with a navy blue button down underneath, greeting the younger male. "You're here."
"I am," he bowed before the older male. "I'm here to talk to Junmyeon hyung."
"He should be finished with his phone call with Yixing right now," Xiumin accompanied him toward Junmyeon's study. "How's the girl doing?"
"She's doing well," Sehun answered with a soft smile, his thoughts wandering toward Haneul and how pretty she looked today—she became prettier everyday, in fact. "I just dropped her off at The Magic Shop for work."
"I see you've taken a liking to her," Xiumin caught the little smile on his face.
"Much more than a liking," the hitman spoke sincerely. "You could say... I'm in love with her."
"Jinjjah?!" The older male gasped, grabbing his shoulder and giving him a playful shake, the widest grin on his lips. "Yah, you cheeky bastard! You really love her?!"
"Of course!" Sehun answered. "I wouldn't make that up, especially when it comes to something strong like love. Neullie is... perfect," his lovesick smile grew bigger now. "She's kind, beautiful, and when she sings, it's like she becomes the center of my world..."
"Wow... She really struck you in the heart with her love shot," Xiumin teased, and a voice up ahead groaned at his corniness.
"Kim Minseok... just... don't," Kyungsoo was standing there, unimpressed by his choice of words. "You're not the one who is supposed to be making those jokes. That's Kim Junmyeon's job."
"Sehunnie's a fool in love!" Baekhyun popped out now, giggling childishly, his eyes bright and mischievous. "I knew there was a reason why you were so willing to protect her!"
"They do make a good pair, don't they?" Chen asked, his hands tucked into the pockets of his slacks. "I'm all for it. I think this might be good for the both of them."
"No wonder you're smiling more," Chanyeol remarked, grinning devilishly. "Irene noona told me everything, by the way. She even punched you in the gut!"
Sehun raised his eyebrows before he turned and cursed under his breath. He was going to have a talk with Irene at some point. It seemed his cold image was compromised, but at the same time, he didn't really mind it. If Haneul had made him into a fool in love, he was okay with it. "Remind me never to put you and Irene noona in the same room."
"We have a new assignment, everyone!" Kai said, walking toward the others to join them, and behind him was Junmyeon, he was still talking to Yixing over the phone, but it wasn't long until he ended the call. "Junmyeon hyung said it's important."
"Kai is right," the leader of their syndicate put his phone away, looking between his brothers before speaking. "The FT Clan has heard of what happened in Jeju Island. Wonbin has grown afraid and he's willing to negotiate."
"What will you have us do?" Sehun asked.
"We're hosting a party here at the estate," Junmyeon answered. "I've invited all the other syndicates, which will make it harder for FT to attack us. With more witnesses, they wouldn't dare do anything to us. However," he frowned, his gaze downcast, knowing he would regret his next words. "Haneul needs to attend as well."
Sehun's eyes widened a bit, watching his older brother, wondering if he had heard him correctly, "You want Neullie to attend this party?"
"I know it's dangerous and she wants no part in the world we live in," Junmyeon explained solemnly. "But we have to make it a point to the FT Syndicate that she is under our protection and if they or any other syndicate try to hurt her, they are hurting us. They know we have the most power among them and the Cho Syndicate was not only our ally but just as powerful."
Sehun didn't like this idea. He knew it could end one of both ways: either the FT Clan capture her or they kill her. They are the ones responsible for her grandmother's death, and the last thing Haneul needed to was look upon the faces of her killer. However, he understood where Junmyeon was coming from and she wouldn't be in any danger as long as she stayed close to him. No one would dare harm her unless they had a death wish. "Alright," he spoke after a moment. "Neullie can come but I will not leave her side the entire night."
"Good," Junmyeon nodded. "I don't want to use her but trust me, this may be good for her and all of us. Her name holds so much power and knowing she is with us will put us at an advantage when it concerns the FT Clan."
"I agree," the raven-haired male replied. "I'll tell her as soon as I pick her up from work." But first... I have to find her a dress.

Loose Lips, Sink Ships
Summary: Secrets, secrets, never tell . . . Secrets, secrets, just as well. Sometimes secrets are harmless, like the fact that Roman has a chronic case of losing the remotes and they don’t actually grow wings. But for Virgil and some of the other heroes, they’re a bit more serious. Too bad the Jims have no sense of the words: “keep out”.
A/N: No ships were harmed in the revealing of secrets. Just Virgil’s peace of mind. ALSO! Just wanted to put it out there I’m really glad I didn’t commit to a name for Deceit, might come out with a bonus fic this weekend for Deceit, cause I’ve got Sanders Sides on the brain.
Marvin would always swear up and down that it was an accident.
The magician had always been good at brewing potions. They took time, and Marvin prided himself on the fact that he could succeed where others failed, or even weren’t so good at. So of course he could make about any type of potion that wasn’t necessarily “above board” to make. I.E: love potions and truth serums. Both of which didn’t last nearly as long as fiction liked to say they lasted for.
However, when the Jims walked into a relatively packed common room with a huge grin, everyone knew something was up with them.
Eric, Patton, Virgil, and Randall were all watching a movie, a little bit of downtime before Patton and Virgil stepped back out. King was in the kitchen arguing about the coffee maker with Ethan and Roman. And Jackie, who was just watching the room, took one look at the Jims and thought, “Oh no, what are they up to this time?”.
“Party’s in the house!” RJ screamed and threw the glass potion he’d been hiding behind his back onto the floor. It smashed into pieces and quickly began to fill up the space.
A silvery smoke instantly flooded the room, more smoke than could have possibly fit inside that little glass orb.
Everyone in the lobby area began coughing, the smoke physically forcing them to breath it in. Jackie used his super speed to open the door and force the smoke out into the open air.
“Fook!” Jackie coughed, “what was that?”
“Not a glitter bomb,” RJ shrugged.
“I thought the label said it was a glitter bomb,” CJ agreed.
“Yeh fookers are mad,” Jackie spat. “Where’d you even get it?”
“Marvin’s study,” CJ answered. “He was working on something else.”
“Then why’d you take it?” Anxiety shouted. “What even was that thing?”
Both of the Jim Twins looked at each other, and then shrugged at the same time.
“Helpful,” Virgil glared at them.
“Okay, so we gotta figure out what it does,” Patton added. “Do you think it’s going to hurt anyone outside?”
“Nah, it was starting to dissipate when it hit the air outside,” Jackie said, zipping over to check outside for a second “Yep, coast’s all clear.”
Patton let out a sigh of relief, “Okay, that’s good.
“Maybe we could ask Marvin,” Randall asked.
“Good idea,” the Jim twins began at almost the same time. “We’ll go find him.”
Then they looked at each other with confusion.
“Nah uh,” Ethan walked over. “I don’t trust the two of you with shit. I’m coming with.”
Once the three of them were gone, Roman commented, “What if it only works on twins. Oh no! Will I be forced to share a mind with Remus again.”
“Shoot me,” Virgil groaned.
“No, you don’t really mean that do you?” Patton asked in concern.
“Of course not,” Virgil said. “It just slipped out.”
Patton looked relieved, and then tears started prickling his eyes, “Oh good, I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
Then Patton raced over and wrapped his arms around Virgil, the more anxious Side stiffening up like a cat that had been suddenly picked up.
“Come on, Pat, let me go,” Virgil struggled.
“Why don’t I ever get a hug from you?” Roman complained.
Jackie had his head in one of his hands, his phone starting to ring for Marvin. He was getting impatient, even more so when Marvin didn’t answer him. “Come on, we need to figure out what we got hit with.”
Marvin walked in with Ethan and the twins, and Jackie immediately stomped over to him.
“Hey Marv, what the hell?” Jackie spat. “What’d they steal?”
“I can’t tell just by the color ‘a smoke,” Marvin defended heatedly. “Has anyone suddenly tried making out.”
“No,” Eric said. “I ha-ve a b-b-oy-friend now, and . . . I don’t want to cheat on him. I’ve . . . I’ve never had a boy-friend before and—”
“Eric,” Marvin called out. “Breathe.”
“Is it Illy?” Roman’s attention hyper focused on Eric. “Did he call back? Tell me.”
“Illinois?” King balked. “Why the hell you are dating that asshole?”
“He’s not an asshole, he’s a sweetheart,” Eric began tearing up.
“He put slugs in my bed,” King dismissed. “He’s a nut job who got crazier the older he got and the closer he got to Dad.”
“Is it the same Illinois that works for Dark?” Virgil spoke up. “King’s right, he’s crazy.”
“He’s not!” Eric began crying.
“Hey, quit making ‘em cry, assholes,” Randall shouted back.
Magic suddenly seized all of them, Marvin taking control of the situation. “Hey,” Marvin called out. “Okay, it’s either a truth potion, or someone aerosolized my supply of Whiskey.”
“What were you doing with a truth potion?” Jackie demanded. “Did you give it to those two fookers?”
“No,” Marvin scoffed. “Those two would steal the clothes off my back if it meant pulling a prank.”
“We totally would,” CJ smiled, fist bumping with his brother; both of them which huge proud smiles.
“Doesn’t mean you didn’t try something,” Jackie reminded.
“I didn’t drug yeh, an’ it’ll wear off anywhere from an hour ta about a day, ‘pends on the dose.”
“A whole day!” Jackie was practically screeching.
“Depends on the dose,” Marvin answered. “But as long as no one’s got some deep dark secret you all should be fine.”
Anxiety let out a nervous scream.
Kay laughed nervously, “Everyone already knows mine.”
Patton began sobbing, whatever he was saying almost indecipherable.
“Well that’s great,” Marvin groaned.
“Why did yah even have that potion?” Jackie asked, still glaring at Marvin. “Probably didn’t mean for us ta get it though.”
“I made it ages ago an’ didn’t want ta risk it by flushing it down the drain,” Marvin spat. “Just get e’eryone comfortable, I’ll see if I can whip an antidote up.”
“Thanks, asshole,” Jackie spat. Then he looked a little surprised. “Dammit, that was supposed to stay in my head.”
“Well ‘til the potion wears off, it’s not. Keep everyone who was affected here,” Marvin sighed. “I’ll make some calls.”
Jackie nodded, thanking Marvin in-between cursing at him.
Keeping themselves in the lobby they tried not to insult each other the best they could. Eric was mostly calmed down, only  snapping at King who snapped back. It was fun for everyone to see the normally timid Eric snapping at someone.
However Patton was lying in the middle of the floor, staring at the ceiling. Virgil and Roman were on either side of him. King and Jackie were on the sofa and both the Jim’s were piled into a bean bag chair. Eric has gone to his room to sleep everything off, Randall taking him there.
“Do you ever think that your life’s a lie?” Patton mumbled out loud. “That no matter how many times you fuse, and how hard you try to be a good person, someone can just scoop out everything that makes you a good person and put in something else.”
Roman stared at him. “Like what?”
“I think I was replaced with another Patton, that your Patton is in my world, and I’m here,” Patton began to ramble. “But I wanna be a good person, I wanna be a good person so bad it hurts.”
“You are a good guy, Pat,” Roman said, cuddling up next to him.
“No, I’m a bad person,” Patton said in-between sobbing, his voice choking up. “I worked with Dark, I’ve watched people die.”
“You never worked with Dark, you’re been with the other Sides the whole time,” Anxiety told him. “I would have recognized you.”
“Then why do I have all these awful memories in my head that won’t go away,” Patton sat up, looking desperately at Virgil. Whether or not he was looking for reassurance or someone to validate his claims was unknown. “They only go away when I fuse. When I was Thomas last time they went away for months.”
Anxiety seemed to be thinking on Patton’s words, “It must be Arthur, he must be doing that to you. He’s forcing you to think that way.”
“Who’s Arthur?” Patton asked.
“Arthur’s dead,” King interrupted. “He bled out on an operating table in front of me. How many times do I keep having to repeat that.”
“What do you mean he’s dead, he can’t be,” Virgil responded. “He’s been keeping Dark from taking over the base.”
“Nah that’s Host and J.J, the two of them keep Dark out,” Roman bragged. “Dark’s always been trying to get into the base but it wasn’t until the Host joined that J.J got some help.”
“I knew he was a liar!” Anxiety shouted.
“Who?” Roman asked. “Dee?”
“Dark!” Anxiety answered. “Oh no.”
“He lies about a lot of stuff,” King agreed. “He once told me we couldn’t get a pet, and then he got himself a cat and named it after himself. I just wanted a puppy.”
“That’s so sad,” Patton told him, rolling over to prop his chin up on his palms. “Least you got a kitty.”
“For a couple days,” King dismissed. Then he paused, “Hey Vee, how’d you even hear about Artie? Everyone in the network uses nicknames.”
Virgil felt the words coming, like an out of control freight train with broken brakes. He grabbed at his throat. “He told me to look for him.”
“Who?” King asked. “Artie?”
“I don’t want to do it, I have talked with him since,” Virgil said, everyone was staring at him.. “You have to believe me, I didn’t believe it, I’m not spying on you, I promise!”
“I believe you,” Patton told him. “You don’t have to talk to him ever again.”
“What kind of spy doesn’t report on the people he’s spying on?” Jack agreed.
“You’re not mad?” Virge asked, daring to hope that somehow he was getting out of this alive. “Even if I was a bad guy?”
King laughed, “You think that’s bad, I’m hiding out from my old man because he would probably kill me if he ever saw me again.”
“Who’s your dad?” Randall asked.
“Dark,” King said, before slapping his hand over his mouth. “Oh no, Host’s gonna kill me.”
“What!?” About half of the heroes in the room shouted. Virgil stared at King.
“You’re not Arthur,” Virgil said out loud, his filter completely destroyed by the truth dust.
“Nah, that’s one of my siblings,” King was staring at his hands. “Host, Bim, Yan, me, Illy, Yancy, and . . .”
Then he stared at his hands, “Huh, weren’t there seven of us?”
“Was that Arthur?” Virgil asked.
“Nah, I already counted him,” King dismissed, waving at Virgil’s direction. “Sides, Artie’s kinda dead, except in the ways that probably matter. You all lucked out, you guys didn’t have to babysit him.”
RJ, who was almost falling asleep with CJ snapped away, almost dragging him and his camera over to have it almost pressed into King’s face. “This sounds like a story.”
King stared at the camera in fear, “Is that live? Please tell me it’s not live.”
“The Jim Twins should make sure it doesn’t see the light of day,” the Host announced himself.
“Host, there’s a truth spray in the air!” King called out desperately as the Host walked closer.
“Even if it was still the air, the Host’s narrations have him dictate his mind anyways,” the seer reminded.
“Oh yeah,” King’s mouth formed a thin line. “You really got the short end didn’t you?”
The Host just stared at him. “The King of the Squirrels should take a nap before he incriminates himself any further.”
“What if I did?” King somehow looked halfway between apologetic and not even a little remorseful. “Like, what if I messed up, bad?”
“The Host noticed,” the seer frowned at him.
“Nah, it was bad,” King frowned. “The one thing you told me not to do, I did it.”
“The Host can see the future, he doesn’t need a replay,” the Host reminded curtly.
“Do you hate me?” King asked sadly. “You probably do, right?”
The Host sat down on the couch next to his adopted brother, his expression softening, “The Host has never hated King.”
“Did Artie?” King was staring at his hands.
“No the Author did not hate King either,” the Host told him “He was angry and dangerous, but he did not hate his adopted family.”
King looked sad, “Oh, that sucks. Cause you were an asshole and I always felt bad about not being nicer.”
“King should save his sympathy,” Host decided. “The Author did not deserve it.”
“You did,” King told him. “You were in there, an’ I should’a been nicer.”
“So you’re Arthur then?” Virgil asked, narrowing his eyes in concentration. “Probably should have called that.”
“King and his friends should sleep,” Host told him, as his words began to curl around the room and people began dropping one by one to sleep. “Everything will be better after you sleep.”
They slept, making it easier for the minds to clear even if each of their dreams were a little more unusual and potion-fueled than usual. Marvin was able to lift the spell by the time they woke up, leaving an uncomfortable atmosphere in the potion’s wake.

What Do You Have to Prove
JUGENEA FAN FICTION
Tumblr media
December 1951 Manhattan, NY Gene Kelly felt a warm sensation fill his heart as his cab rolled through the snowy streets of Manhattan. It had only been a week and a half since he was away from New York and already his favorite city had been transformed into a Christmas wonderland. He had left to start pre-production on ‘Singing in the Rain’ and spend Thanksgiving break with his daughter back in LA. It was home there, but it felt more like home here.
As the cab pulled up in front of the Ritz Carlton, Gene’s sentimental feelings started to turn into pleasantly anxious ones. Judy wasn’t expecting him for a few more days and he was excited to surprise her. Her phone call yesterday morning was positively depressing. Now that Liza was back in LA with her father, Judy said she was lonely. Kay was in town but busy working and Judy was also drained from her extended run at The Palace.
Currently off her medication, she was usually okay when she had that support system from him, as he wouldn’t leave her side, but without it, her mental and physical state went totally weary.  She wept saying she missed her best friend before she hung up. He quickly made arrangement to come back sooner than scheduled.  Not only was he excited to see her, it would also be the first Christmas season they’d spend together as a real couple, their divorces having been finalized.
Gene walked into the suite at the Ritz Carlton that he and Judy were sharing and tossed his fedora hat on the coffee table and set his small suitcase down.
“Hun?”
When there was no answer, and he heard no radio going- Judy always had a radio going - he knew she must be out.  He plopped down on the couch and closed his eyes with jet lag. Laying his head near a throw pillow, he gently smiled when he got a whiff of her perfume. It had only been a week and a half that he last seen his girl and yet he missed her as if he hadn’t seen her in a month. And unfortunately, it had been nearly that since the two made love. With her back-to-back shows seven days a week and him going back and forth to LA; the couple had been utterly exhausted. Of course, it was more so on her part, but he was a patient and understanding boyfriend. Hell, he was there in the wings every show; he saw how much energy she brought to that stage. She was magnificent. He was so proud and she was so damn happy and elated. He hadn’t quite seen her that happy before, not in that way at least, and he wasn’t about to ruin her mood by urging her for sex when she wouldn’t be fully into it.
But he did secretly hope his surprise would excite her to that point. He fucking missed her.
Gene sat up and checked his watch confused at where she could be. Usually at this time, she liked to nap and relax before a show. Placing a cigarette between his lips, he got up and walked to the nearest phone. He lit his Philip Morris smoke as the phone rang. “Yes, Plaza hotel, please. Thank you.”
Kay Thompson shook her fur coat free of snowflakes as she walked across the lobby of the Plaza hotel.
Behind the concierge desk, a desk clerk held a phone receiver to his ear, but did a double take on Kay as she made her way past the desk.
“She’s actually right in front of me, Sir. Let me see if I can catch her. One moment,” the clerk held the phone to his shoulder and politely called out for her, “Oh, Ms. Thompson.”
The elegant blonde stopped short in her tracks, “Yes?”
“Phone for you, ma’am.”
Kay walked up to the desk with a mischievous eyebrow, “Call me, ma’am and I turn around for my mother,” she teased.
“A Mr. Eugene for you, miss.”
Kay made a mental note that is was Gene on the phone, as he always used Eugene as an alias, and she giggled as she took the receiver from the smiling clerk, “That’s more like it. Hi, Gene, how are you, baby?”
“I’m good, sweetheart. How are you doing?”
“Oh, peachy keen, jolly bean.  How’s the weather over there?”
“Oh, it’s precisely 31 degrees and snowing.”
“Bullshit,” she giggled as she observed her manicure, “I bet its 72 and sunny and not a cloud in the sky. I tell yah darling, as much as I love this city I miss the California weather during winter.”
“So do I, but it’s good to be here during Christmastime.”
“I do agree on that. Wait, what do you mean, here?”
Gene chuckled, “I just got back a little while ago.”
“Oh, you really weren’t bullshitting me then.”
“Nope.”
“I thought you weren’t coming until Friday.” “Yeah, I was but Judy sounded so depressed on the phone yesterday.”
“I had drinks with her last night after the show.”
“Oh, you did,” he said gleefully, “That’s good. I bet she needed that. How was she?”
“Uh, ok
” Kay trailed off.
“Why do you sound trepidacious?”
“Well, because she was acting just like that last night. She seemed nervous and she didn’t talk much, not about anything other than work related. Her mind kind of seemed elsewhere.”
“Eh, she was upset that morning on the phone. She was probably just in a mood. And I guess that answers my question, I was calling to see if she was with you. I was going to surprise her.”
“Oh, no, I’m sorry, she isn’t here.”
Just then Kay looked up and saw Judy standing across the lobby signing an autograph for a little girl and her older sister.
“Oh, I lied, she just walked in. She’s over signing autographs. What do you want to do?”
“We’re you guys meeting up for lunch or something?”
“Not that I can recall.”
“If she’s there to spend some time with you, see if you can get her to come back here or something.”
“How?”
“I don’t know, but you’re good at that stuff. Please,” he whined, “I want some alone time with her before her show tonight.”
“So, really, you want me to come up with a scheme to get her back there so you can get laid?”
“I can only hope,” he mumbled.
“Hey, who am I to stand in the way of a fu
” Kay stopped short when she saw a familiar looking man walk up to Judy and give her a big hug, “What the hell.”
“What?”
“Is that
” Kay’s mouth went a gap when she realized who the mean was and then she watched Judy slip her arm through his as he ushered her towards the Oak Room, a lavish cocktail lounge just off the lobby, “Oh, shit.”
“Kay,” Gene then whistled to get her attention, “What’s going on?”
“Well, Judy’s definitely not here to see me. That’s for sure.”
“Why? Who’s she with?”
“Gene, you won’t even believe me If I tell you.”
“Try me.”
“Artie Shaw.”
“Artie Sh-that’s not possible. Are you sure they didn’t just bump into each other or something?”
“No, it definitely looked like they were meeting up. They just went into the bar together.”
“There’s got to be something else going on. I mean, Judy is a person who doesn’t hate anyone
” he then chuckled, “
but she hates him.”
“Yes, I know. Why do you think I’m so shocked? What do you want me to do? Do you want me to go say hi and see if I get any signal from her?”
“No, no. I’m just around the corner. I’ll come by.”
“Okay.”
Gene removed his coat and hat as he walked up to the coat check girl to the side of the Oak Room. He smoothed his hair as he walked up to the host stand where a blonde girl, who didn’t look more than 21, stood. Her face expressed shock as he walked up with his cheeky smile.
“You’re Gene Kelly.”
“I am.”
“Mr. Kelly, I am a huge fan of yours.”
Gene chuckled to himself at her flattery, “Well, thank you.”
He looked up past the girl’s shoulder looking for Judy when the gawking girl leaned in, whispering with a wink, “Judy Garland is in there.”
“You don’t say,” he said with an even cheekier grin.
“Is it true you two are dating?”
Gene looked a little uncomfortable as he never discussed his personal life with fans, “Um, well
”
The girl cut him off as he looked both ways to make sure her manager wasn’t looking as she handed him a cocktail napkin and a pen, “Will you autograph this for me, please? I’d be tickled.”
“Sure thing,” he said and suddenly he heard Judy’s unmistakable laugh. Just the sound of it gave him a hard on. “Here ya go.”
He pinched her cheek before walking past her into the lounge. He saw Kay standing at the bar with a fresh martini in her hand looking conspicuous.
“Spying,” he said with a raised eyebrow as gave Kay a kiss on the cheek.
“I wanted a drink
and I’m nosy,” she said as she took a sip.
Gene turned to spot out Judy. They were in a booth by the potted palms and laughing together. She looked beautiful in her black fitted cocktail dress, her hair was in a French twist away from her face and her red lips were luscious. Then there was that idiot, the forty-something womanizer.
“She, ah, she doesn’t exactly look uncomfortable, does she,” Kay asked a bit slyly. She looked at Gene who bit on his lower lip looking as if he were now a tad bit uncomfortable himself and she continued, “But, she is the greatest actress in the world so it could just be a front.”
“Could be,” he murmured.
In mid laugh, Judy mindlessly looked over their way. They watched as she did a double take on them and her smile faltered before she stared at Gene in shock. Artie noticed this and looked their way as well.
Kay wiggled her fingers at them as Gene stood with his hands in his pockets smiling genuinely at his girl.
Judy cleared her throat a tad bit embarrassed, “Well, it seems I have an audience.”
“You’re dating, Gene Kelly, right?”
Judy nodded and giggled nervously, “He wasn’t supposed to be here for a few days.”
“That’s Kay Thompson, isn’t it?”
“Yes, she’s staying at this hotel. Will you excuse me for a minute, darling?”
When Judy approached them, she wore a forced smile that both could see straight through, as they were two people in the world who knew her better than she knew herself.
“What are you doing here?”
Even though she spoke through a smile, her tad bit irritated tone took Gene by surprise and his own smile disappeared.
“Well, hello, to you, too, darling.”
“I’m sorry, I just wasn’t expecting you until Friday,” she said giving him a kiss on the cheek but it didn’t lift his disappointed expression.
“Is it a problem?”
“No, of course not. I just, ah, I made plans.”
Gene’s eyes widened and he practically hissed at her pointing his direction, “With that cocksucker?”
Kay’s mouth formed into a tight ‘o’ before she took another sip of her vodka.
“Gene, will you be quiet?” Judy said whispering just as shocked by his behavior that he was of hers.
Gene ran a hand through his hair and sighed, “Forget it.”
Judy watched as he walked towards the exit and she looked at Kay with an appalled expression.
“Well, what do you expect, Judy? The man came here to surprise you and then finds you over there flirting with your old boyfriend,” Kay whispered.
“I was not – “
“You were,” Kay cut off and motioned for her friend to go after Gene.
Judy looked over towards Artie, and when he looked her way, she put her finger up as if to give her a minute and she walked out the exit.
Gene was standing at the coat check getting his coat and hat when she walked up and put her hand on his arm.
“I’m sorry.”
“I’ll see you at the room.”
“Gene, I’m happy to see you, I am, I just made plans and I wasn’t expecting you.”
“Seems more like you were caught red handed,” he said as he plopped his fedora on top his head.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You look guilty as hell and you’re acting like it’s such an inconvenience me being here.”
“Here in New York, no, here in this bar where I’m meeting up with an old friend, yes.”
“Friend?”
“Yes, friend,” she repeated putting her hand on her waist.
“You hate his guts.”
“That was before.”
“Before what?” Gene looked at her skeptically and took a step forward, “What exactly happened for you to change your mind about him?”
“Well, definitely not what you’re implying and I don’t appreciate you thinking that.”
Gene smiled, a wicked one, “Tell me what I’m thinking.”
It was Judy’s turn to laugh now, but with a ridiculous sing-song tone, “I’m not doing this with you here.”
“Then come back to the room with me.”
“That would be rude to just leave. I did make a date
” Off his look she quickly reiterated, “
made plans with him.”
“Mind if I join then?”
“Well, I don’t know, darling. You did just call him a very colorful name.”
“Doesn’t mean I can’t have a cordial drink with him.”
Judy hesitated a moment before speaking, “Will you promise to be nice?”
“I just want to spend time with you, alright?”
Judy nodded. After he gave the coat check his coat and hat back, the two held hands as they walked back into the lounge. When they passed Kay, she winked at Gene, and she watched as they made their way to the booth.
Gene placed his hand on her tush as they approached Artie, who stood up to greet them. Judy nudged his hand off, “Artie, this is Gene Kelly. Gene, Artie Shaw. I don’t think you two have met before.”
“No, haven’t had the pleasure,” Artie said extending his hand which Gene shook, “I’m a fan of your work.”
“Likewise,” Gene said waiting for Judy to sit down before taking a seat himself. As she did so, she gave him the side eye. She knew he didn’t own one of Artie’s records.
“You don’t mind him joining us, do you darling?” she asked.
“More the merrier, right darling,” Gene said answering for the other man and slurring ‘darling’ for her benefit. She called everyone affectionate names but to Gene’s ears it sounded sour. He felt Judy tap his leg and he smiled.
“Yeah, sure,” Artie answered, “What are you having/”
“Scotch,” Gene looked at Judy’s near empty red wine glass, “Another for you, baby?”
“Yes, thank you,” she said as he reached for his wallet.
“I’ve got hers,” Artie chimed in and motioned for the waiter.
Judy saw Gene’s look and she put her finger up to her lips as to keep him hushed and calm. He clenched his jaw as he put his wallet back in his pocket.
After Artie ordered a fresh round of drinks, he leaned back and smiled large, “So, Gene, are you in town to see Judy’s show?”
Judy stifled a giggle and looked over at Gene who sat up straight, “Well, considering I’ve been to most of them, yes, I’ll be there again tonight. But that’s not why I’m back in town. I’m partially living here with Judy.”
“Oh? You two live together,” Artie said a bit surprised.
“We’re staying at the Ritz around the corner. Gene helped get my show up and running and he’s been traveling back and forth to LA since,” Judy said appreciatively.
“So, you’ve been together for a few months now, huh?”
Gene laughed but when he saw that Artie wasn’t joking, he quickly stopped and looked at Judy who looked a little uncomfortable, “He isn’t kidding.”
“I’m sorry?”
“You must not read the papers.”
“I don’t read.”
“I’m not surprised,” Gene mumbled but Judy heard it and gave him a dirty look.
“At least not that crap. I just stick to my music notes.”
Judy smiled, “If I could read music, that’s all I would read, too.”
“You can’t read music?” Artie said surprised.
“Nope.”
“Yeah, you can. You’re shitting me,” he said playfully pushing her arm.
Judy laughed and playfully pushed him back which made Gene frown at her flirtation.
“She’s not shitting you. She can’t read a note. But she can hear a melody once and play it by ear on the piano,” he cut in.
“I do remember that,” Artie said smiling ear to ear at her, “When we’d meet up at Ciro’s years back, she’d hear a brand new song of mine and be able to sing it like she’d been rehearsing it for months. Even as a teenager, she was very wise for her age.”
Judy smiled and looked down bashfully and Gene watched as Artie’s eyes quickly darted to her prominent cleavage before meeting her face again.
“Ol’  Tin Ear is what I called her ‘a few years back’ as well, you know when we first got together during our first picture,” Gene bluntly stated.
“Summer Stock wasn’t it? That was what, only a year and a half ago” Artie asked Judy more than Gene.
Judy opened her mouth to speak but Gene answered first, “That was actually our last picture. We were in three total but I’m referring to For Me and My Gal, 1942. That makes it, how long darling? Almost 10 years we’ve been together.”
“Gene,” Judy giggled nervously, but it was more of a warning to him.
Artie chuckled, “You’re joking.”
“Why would I joke about something like that?”
“You two were married to other people, weren’t you?”
Judy cleared her throat and took a large gulp of her wine.
“Yes. It was an on and off type of thing. But we just kept coming back to each other.”
“Are you still married?”
“No. My divorce and Judy’s from Vincent’s came finalized few months back.”
“I’m sorry to hear that for both of you. But everything happens for a reason, isn’t that what they say? Though from what I heard, you and Vincent had a good thing going.”
Judy looked over at Gene who looked at the man like he wanted to punch him, “Uh, I don’t really want to discuss that subject if you don’t mind.”
“Oh, no problem, kid. I just always heard Judy Garland and Vincent Minnelli were Hollywood’s ‘It’ couple.”
“That wasn’t Hollywood it was MGM,” Judy corrected.
Gene sat unfazed, his eyes glued to the other man, “How many times you been married, Shaw?”
“Can we change the subject?” Judy asked the two men but they ignored her.
“Oh, about a soccer team full, Gene.”
“See, I do read the papers. 6 isn’t it?”
“About to be 7. I’m getting married next year.”
“Oh, I didn’t know that. Congratulations,” Judy said gleefully.
“Thank you. Her name is Doris Dowling. She’s a great gal.”
“Do you know of her Judy?” Judy once again opened her mouth to reply but Gene turned back to Artie, “You’ve married quite a few of Judy’s friends, haven’t you? The first one being Lana Turner
”
Both men were a bit startled as Judy stood up a bit harshly making the table shake.
“I’d like to see you for a moment,” she said with venom before walking past him. Gene followed her out. The minute they were exactly at the same spot they were before hand, she hissed through her teeth, “What the fuck!”
“No, no,” he said taking a step to her so their chests were almost touching, “What the fuck are you doing meeting up with him?”
“I don’t feel I owe you any explanation after the shit you said in there.”
“Oh, you don’t owe me an explanation?”
Judy laughed, “Not after you were acting like you were in a cock fight in there.”
“Were you not at the same table as I was or were you too blind to see he was doing the same?”
“Cut it out.”
“And he stared at your tits. What’s with that dress, huh? How come I’ve never seen it?”
“Cut it out,” she repeated lifting her chin to him.
Gene took one more step so his nose was almost touching hers, “He wants to fuck you.”
A few couple passed the celebrity duo and did double takes as the two stood very close but had the most enraged looks on their faces.
“Go screw your self,” Judy said with a calm front as she stepped away.
Gene’s eyes followed her as she walked back in the restaurant. When she disappeared, his eyes landed on the hostess girl who stood there eyes wide and her mouth a gap.
“Shit,” he whispered to himself before he head out.
Gene was lounging on the couch with his feet up watching the twinkling of the small Christmas tree by the patio window that Judy most likely put up with Liza the day after Thanksgiving. He tapped his feet to the soft Christmas tune on the radio, and had just finished only his second cigarette, when he heard the door open behind him. Without looking, he just sat there knowing her eyes were burning into the back of his head. She came sooner than he expected.
When the door slammed shut forcefully, he did close his eyes a moment, but they opened again when he heard her spiked heels walk up behind him. He could feel her energy before he even saw her shadow.
Leaning her hands on the back of couch on each side of his head, she lowered her mouth towards his ear, “You have some hell of a nerve,” Judy said bitterly.
“The feelings mutual, doll,” he said as he sat up and picked up his half glass of scotch that was on the coffee table. He went to take a gulp when all of a sudden Judy grabbed it from his hand. She dumped its contents on the floor beside him before throwing the glass on the table. The heavy glass cracked but did not shatter.
Gene sighed and finally turned to look at her, “Isn’t that a bit dramatic? You don’t think I’m not going to just get up and pour another glass?”
“Dramatic?” She looked at him determined before turning on her heel.
Gene knew that look and it alerted him, “What are you going to do?”
“I’ll show you dramatic,” she said as she went to the mini bar and grabbed his bottle of Macallan scotch whiskey. It was an expensive bottle that Roger Edens had given him as a gift the night of Judy’s opening at the Palace as a thank you for helping them get the show together.
“What the hell are you doing?” Gene said with alarm. She looked at him with a raised eye brow as she walked across to the kitchenette. “Ju – “ Gene stopped short when she dumped the nearly full bottle down the drain and threw the glass into the sink which made that glass shatter.
“That’s dramatic,” she said proving a point.
Gene licked his lips trying to stay calm, “That was a $300 bottle of scotch.”
“Well, now it ain’t worth shit.”
Gene stood up angry, “What are you even doing here?” Off her inquisitive look he continued with exaggeration, “You told me to go screw myself. I was just about to do that and I’d like some privacy.”
Judy let out a chuckle rolling her eyes as she head back out of the kitchen area, “You’re disgusting.”
He walked to the other side of the couch, resting his hips on the back of it, as he crossed his arms watching her pour herself a glass of water, “You know what I’m baffled about
”
“Tell me,” Judy said sarcastically before taking a sip of water.
“
why you decided to see him in the first place. You still haven’t answered my question.”
“And I still don’t think you deserve an explanation after how you were acting.”
“It’s just a simple question, Judy.”
“It’s not simple, it’s complicated, and it’s something you wouldn’t understand so will you just lay off me?”
“No,” Gene replied quickly stubborn as hell.
“You’re such a child,” she spat with repulsion.
‘Don’t you dare start calling me names,” Gene pointed yelling.
“Oh, ‘child’ is nothing compared to what I could call you.”
“Bitch,” he mumbled softly, turning his back to her.
Judy banged her water glass on the counter top staring at him wide-eyed, “What did you say?”
Gene spun and walked straight up to the other side of the bar top, leaning over it to look her square in the face, “I said bitch.”
Judy quickly gave him the middle finger in his face but he just as quickly smacked her hand away from him, a little too hard, and it fueled the fire as she gasped and pushed his arm in retaliation.
He caught both her wrists and held them tight on the counter, now both leaning towards each other, “If you don’t answer why then at least tell me how you two met up?”
“Gene, let me go,” she said as she tried getting her hands out of his grasp.
“No.”
Just gave up and answered as if she were tired, “He showed up at the show last night and we talked a little bit and decided to catch up.”
“He saw how phenomenal you are, realized how much of a dick he was with you all those years ago, knew you were just divorced, and asked you out,” Gene said with assumption.
“I asked him out,” Judy said staring him in the eyes.
Her confession was enough for him to let go of her and his voice softened, “After what he did to you, why would you do that?”
“I told you, you wouldn’t understand.”
Gene saw it in her eyes, like she were a heartbroken teenager again, and he had sudden suspicions as to why and it hurt him and pissed him off that she wasn’t communicating with him.
“What did he say about the show?”
To Judy it seemed like a general question, but to him, it was manipulation to get to his assumptions.
“He loved it. He said I was electric and loved how I bantered with the audience and that my voice was stronger than ever. He said I glow under the spotlight
and that I’m more magnificent now than I’ve ever been.”
Gene had no doubt what she was saying was true, because it really was true, she was everything like that on stage, but the fact she said it with such spite in her voice, to purposely make him more jealous, just angered him further.
“I’ve said all those things to you before.”
“I know.”
“So why does it seem more important to you when he says it?”
“Gene, I’m tired, ok? I’m going to lay down for a little,” Judy said as she came out from behind the bar and crossed past him but he stopped her by taking her arm. Whenever he was right about something that she felt guilty about, she would try to change the subject.
“Why are you doing that to yourself, Judy?”
“What do you mean?”
“Do you feel you have something to prove to him?”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” she said trying to free her elbow but he had none of it.
“You’re finally free of the chains of the studio and you’re more confident and you’re ready to show the world that you’re Judy Garland, and hell you should, because you’ve better then you’ve ever been. But, that doesn’t mean you need to prove anything to some asshole that yo-yo’d with your vulnerable emotions, lead you on, then tossed you out like yesterdays garbage. And for what? For a marriage to a blonde bimbo that lasted only 6 months.”
Judy grit her teeth, “Shut up, Gene.”
Gene looked at her incredulously,” You were fishing for his attention weren’t you? You were trying to show him what he what he missed out on, tried to make him feel guilty about it.”
She continued to try to free her elbow, “Stop it!”
“Just because he was giving you compliments on your stage performance, doesn’t mean he sees you the way I do, Judy. He doesn’t know the real you. He may have told you once upon a time you were going to be a star and built up your ego, but he never told you how beautiful you were, did he? He never told you that he loved Frances Gumm, that he loved you as a person, did he?”
“You son-of-a-bitch!” she shouted with tears in her eyes as he grabbed her arms as if trying to knock some sense into her. She was currently re-living the past but she needed to be smacked right back into the present.
“Baby, don’t waste your fucking energy on a 6-time divorced man who only sees tits instead of brains.”
He let her go and she stood there, breathing heavy, tears in her eyes and it hurt him to see he wasn’t still getting through to her.
“Face it, honey, to him you’ll always be a teenage girl with braids, a homey-looking kid with stars in her eyes for a man she can’t have.”
Judy smacked him hard across the face that made his head turn. When he looked back at her, with such rage in his eyes, she took a step backwards as if she were afraid. He took that step forward and tried to gather her in his arms but she immediately started pushing his chest in more of a fit of anger than for protection.
“Stop it!” Gene said as he pushed her shoulder to hold her at arms length.
“Get off of me!”
“Then stop fucking hitting me!”
Judy stopped and placed her hands on her hips breathing heavy through her nostrils but her pent up emotions were still very strong.
After a moment, she took a step to him, very calmly and stuck her nose up at him, “Remember who you’re speaking to, Eugene. This teenage homey looking girl in braids is the reason you became famous. Without me, you’d still be a New Jersey vagabond nobody, playing for minimum wage on Broadway.”
Gene ignored her inevitable, verbal retaliation. He knew she was hurting. Instead, he grabbed the back of her head and kissed her hard. Judy moaned in protest and pushed his chest away from her breaking contact.
“I think I’ll leave now so you can go screw yourself,” she turned to do just that but he grabbed her arm and pulled her roughly up against him that he knew she secretly liked. A little force was always a turn on. The pleasurable whimper she gave off as he did so, confirmed that.
When their lips met again, she tried fighting him off, but he was stronger and instead she found herself moving closer to the couch. Gene felt her tongue against his but then she would withdraw and struggle again. When Judy’s back hit the couch, and he was on top of her, she struggled even harder but his actions were creating a painful arousal between her legs and she didn’t want to stop.
The two got caught up in a wrestling fit on the couch and they still looked angry as ever. But the heavy breathing and little mews each gave off with the struggle, secretly turned each other on. Gene finally got close enough to her face to kiss her, but when he did, she pulled on his hair and bit his lip. He moaned in pain and quickly grabbed her wrists and held them above her head  as he roughly maneuvered his body between her legs as she tried kicking.
Gene feverishly kissed her neck as he pushed his lower section into her. Her wiggling only excited him more. Judy closed her eyes and tilted her head back in ecstasy as he sucked a spot on her neck he knew she loved.
“Get . off . of . me.”
“You really want me to stop,” he mumbled against her neck, “I bet you’re wet already.”
Judy gasped and was able to get a hand free and smacked him again, though this time not as hard. Gene groaned in distaste and quickly pinned that wrist again. Face-to-face again the two stared at each other, their hot, heavy breath against each others lips. He saw her chest heave more as her eyes became clouded and suddenly she slightly whimpered with anticipation and lifted her hands. He let them go and groaned with satisfaction as her fingers started undoing his belt in a hurry, as if her life depended on it.
When she got his zipper undone, Gene tossed her hands away and reached under her poofy, black skirt to pull off her panties. He threw them to the side and climbed back between her legs as she scrunched up her black skirt in her hands so he could reach her. Gene pulled himself out of his pants and became level with her again so he could stare into her eyes as he slid inside of her once again. When he did, it was a bit rough, but he went in smoothly and quickly with no resistance on her part. The action made a groan rumble from his chest and she let out that little sound of hers.
Judy pulled his head back to hers and they kissed hard and deep, like this thrusts. There on the couch, fully clothed, the couple put all their frustrations into their lovemaking and it didn’t take long before each were moaning and groaning with relief of being with each other again.
Gene felt her black stiletto’s digging into the back of his thighs for a moment, but the feeling of himself being tugged at by her warm body numbed that slight sting.
“It’s been so long. You feel so fucking good,” he spat out with each thrust. Judy placed her hands on his lower back urging him for more.
“I missed you,” she breathed as her hips tried meeting up with his. A beginning orgasmic rush burst from her tummy and shot up to her breasts and down between her legs and she cried out softly, “Oh gosh.”
Gene felt her climax rising and he slowed down his pace, and brought his body closer to hers, his pubic bone rubbing against bud with each slow thrust. Judy gasped and held her hand on the back of his neck for support, “Honey,” she could barely cry out. Gene groaned deep again as her body tightened and her face scrunched as a strong orgasm rolled like waves throughout her core before bursting against him.
When her grasp on him loosened, he leaned back and picked up his pace again until he himself experienced a strong climax and seemed never ending.
“Now, ladies and gentleman, before we go any further, I’d like to bring out a man that all of you know. He’s my favorite leading man and he’s been a great help with putting this show together for you all. Gene Kelly. Let’s make him take a bow for a change, come on.”
Gene stood in the wings as Judy stood center stage and urged him to come out and say hi to his also adoring fans. As the audience clapped and cheered with excitement, he shook his head ‘no’ to her shyly. It was her time to shine. But she had none of it.
“Come on,” when he still didn’t come, she whined, “Come onnnn.” Judy walked over and grabbed his hand bringing him into view, “Come on, come on,” she giggled.
Gene waved and smiled as everyone cheered even louder. “Lights, lights!” she shouted to the stage hand controlling the spotlight to have it on him. When it did, he did one last wave before walking back off.
“Aw, awww,” she said giggling at his embarrassment, “They want to see you, too, you know,” she said in a darling voice.
Gene blew her a kiss and motioned for her to go on with the show.
“Alright. Let’s have some more fun tonight because this is a particularly wonderful night for me. Now then, what are we going to do? Palace?” she asked her friend and orchestra leader Hugh Martin.
“You want to do Palace?”
“Yeah, let’s do that. Here we go.”
As Judy went into one of her most prominent songs of her engagement, ‘At The Palace Medley’ Gene watched her with admiration. When she started hitting certain notes, Gene tapped along with the notes as if he were apart of it.
“..so I hope you’ll understand my wonderrousss thriiiiiiillll,” she belted out loudly, “ ‘Cause Vaudeville’s back at the Palace..” she giggled as she caught Gene intently involved from the wings, “And I’m ---- On ---- The Billllll!”
As the audience clapped with her incredible long finish, she looked over at Gene and smiled.
The End.
*ps: if you haven’t listened to Judy’s At The Palace soundtrack from 1951-1952 I would suggest it. She talks a lot in it with the audience, very goofy, laughs a lot and I did take a few sequences for this ending from those tracks*

“They aren’t seriously going to make him do this, are they?” Zoey worriedly asked Changkyun.
They were standing on top of the Macau Tower, watching as several employees attempted to prepare Wonho for his bungee jump.
And the poor boy was absolutely terrified.
In hindsight, this would probably be hilarious. Who wouldn’t love watching a grown man scream and cry because he was scared of heights. But right now, in the moment, Zoey was not having it. She thought that all of the boys were taking this far too lightly, and their production staff didn’t seem nearly concerned enough.
Plus, the man who was actually trying to hook the crying boy up to the bungee jump was laughing at him.
“Yah!” She shouted, momentarily silencing the boys. “Wonho-Oppa, are you okay?” She called over to him.
“Yes!” He wailed, looking everything but okay.
Hyungwon snorted from laughter, and Zoey stomped on his foot.
They started to shuffle the boy towards the ledge, and the crying only got worse. Zoey felt her heart break into little pieces, and didn’t understand how she was the only one who was actually disturbed by how terrified he was.
“Wonho-Oppa! Do you want me to switch with you?” She offered.
He shook his head, tears running down his face. “This is stupid, I’m switching.” She declared.
She turned to their manager. “Can I jump for him?”
“No!” Wonho cried as he realized what was happening. “I can do it!”
Zoey took a deep sigh. “Okay, Oppa. I believe that you can.”
He took another shaking step forward, and the man helping him gave a little chuckle.
“Hey!” She said in heavily accented English. “Stop laughing at him!”
Changkyun pulled her back. “Sorry!” He called to the employee.
“Zo - please don’t yell at the people. They’re just doing their jobs.” Shownu counselled her.
“They’re being mean.” She insisted. “And so are all of you.”
She was pulled away from the conversation as Wonho knelt down to the ground, still sobbing.
“Can someone calm him down?” One of the employees asked. “He can’t jump like this.”
“I can.” Zoey hopped around the gate quickly, not even noticing as the employees scrambled to attach her harness to the wire. She knelt down in front of Wonho, holding his face between her hands and wiping his tears away.
“Oppa, are you sure about this?”
“I can do it.” He insisted, trying to choke back his tears.
“I don’t mind switching with you.” She promised. “I can do it.”
Nevermind the fact that she was actually just as terrified of heights as she was, but she didn’t like seeing people in pain, and this was way too much for her. Watching her usually strong group mate break down in complete terror was not something she enjoyed.
He pulled her into a tight hug. “Just let me do it. They’ll laugh at me if I don’t.”
“I’ll beat them up if they do” She promised, referring to both their teammates and the employees. “But I know you can do this. I’ll meet you at the bottom, kay?”
He nodded, and stood on shaky legs. She was quickly ushered back behind the safety bar, and they got Wonho in position to jump.
“Gosh, you’re such a mom.” Minhyuk whined.
She glared at him. “And you’re all grounded.”
“We’re older than you.” Jooheon protested.
She rolled her eyes. “Doesn’t matter. You’re all being assholes. No TV control for a week after we get home.”
“But Zoey-” Shownu complained.
Kihyun smacked him. “You’re the leader!”
“Hush.” She said. “Support Hoseok.”
They watched in anticipation as he prepared to jump, Zoey kicking the boys each time they laughed at him. She had to close her eyes at the last minute, because even standing this high was making her a little nauseous.
As soon as he had jumped she turned around and headed back inside the building. “I’m going down to meet him.”
“You don’t want to watch us jump?”
Zoey looked at them, sure the disgust showed on her face. “I’d rather hang out with people who aren’t going to act like bullies, thank you very much.”
“How were we being bullies?” Minhyuk asked. “It was funny.”
“If I was the one about to jump, would you laugh like that?” She asked.
That shut them up, as they realized what point she was trying to get across.
“Besides,” she continued. “You’re big boys, you’ll be fine. Wonho needs a hug.”
She hurried to the elevator, followed by a single cameraman. She made sure to close her eyes as they descended, feeling her ears pop from the change in air pressure.
The second they hit ground level, she took off at a run, not caring whether or not the camera was following her. It was easy to find the landing pad for the bungee jump, and almost easier to find the shaky boy surrounded by cameras.
“Oppa!” She called loudly, hurrying towards him.
He opened his arms to catch her like he usually would, but was so shaky that the movement almost pushed him over. Zoey wrapped her arms around his waist and he buried his face in his hair. He was smiling now, but he looked like he might be in shock.
“I’m so proud of you!” She cheered. “You did it!”
“I should’ve been cooler.” He said sadly. “I cried a lot.”
“Crying is okay.” She promised. “I think it was brave of you to go, even though you were scared.”
He rocked her back and forth, feeling his control of his body coming back. “Thank you for offering to jump for me. I know you’re scared of heights, too.”
She shrugged. “I’m going to pretend you would’ve done the same for me.”
He shook his head furiously, pulling back to look at her. “I’m serious, Zo. I will kill for you, but I will not do that ever again.”
She laughed. “Sounds fair.”
He looked back up at the top of the building. “You didn’t want to stay and watch them jump?”
She shook her head. “It’s too high up there. I just needed to see you jump.”
He heaved a deep sigh. “You grounded them, didn’t you?”
“They were being mean.”
“You know that you’re the maknae, right?”
She raised an eyebrow. “And am I supposed to pretend that you guys don’t do whatever I say?”
He shook his head quickly. “No, ma’am. You're in charge.”
She grinned, tucking herself under his arm so that he could lean on her. “Good. That’s the way we’re going to keep it.”

Redamancy Pt4
Tumblr media
Pairing: Baekhyun x reader x Jongin Length: 3k
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 9 | Part 10 | Jongin pov | Part 11 | Part 12 |
You rub your eyes as you sit up. You could have sworn you heard someone sitting next to you, but when you looked around, there was no one there. With a small yawn you exit the room and slouch into the living room. Delicious scents immediately made you open your eyes wide. All kinds of different fruits, veggies and meat were laying on the table. Kyungsoo was standing in front of the stove, his back turned to you.
“Soo! This is way too much. Are you kidding? It’s like we are feeding an entire army
And why are there two whole roasted chickens on the table?!”
He turned around with a wide smile, which made his lips into a heart shape.
“You have not seen Jongin and Sehun eat yet.”
Speak of the devils. Both guys walked around the corner at that moment, with smiles on their faces.
“I think you forget to mention that you could give us a run for our money too, Soo.”
Sehun grins as a frown appears on the shorter male.
“Hey, princess, what about you, hungry?”
Jongin appeared by your side and gave you a hug. You chuckle and nod while letting out another yawn and give Sehun and Kyungsoo a hug as well. As you all sit down at the table, with Kyungsoo giving everyone some scrambled eggs, Sehun looks around the room.
“Yah! Pan! Food is ready!”
Peter came out of his room with a big yawn and sat down opposite Sehun. He rubbed his eyes once before glancing around the table. He looked at you for a second before glancing down to your legs and sighing.
“Don’t you have pants?” He mumbles, but then stuffs some food in his mouth. The table was awkwardly silent for a bit, before Sehun and Kai started playing around and throwing grapes at each other. You just smiled as you put another bite of egg in your mouth and groan.
“Kyungsoo! This is sooo~ good! You should teach me your secrets too. I love microwaving ramen but it does get old sometimes.”
Kyungsoo just chuckles and nods before continuing eating. Then, Sehun spoke up.
“So, Y/N, you didn’t get to tell us yesterday what you do for a living.” He asks, pushing some more food in his mouth.
“Oh, yeah. Uhm- I just work in a flower boutique, really cute and pretty during the day. And after that, I’m a bartender at a local cafĂ©. It’s a lot of fun and I get to pay off the debts a lot more with two jobs.” You reach across the table for some bacon and stuff it in your mouth.
“Wait. What debts?” Kai is now looking over at you.
“Oh- j-just nothing. You know, some money here and there, it’s whatever.”
“Y/N, you are a terrible liar. What debts?”
The whole table goes silent, and even Peter, who was looking at his plate the whole time, now looks up. You look at Kai and Sehun once and smile.
“Just
 when I was left alone
I had to sell the apartment
but it stayed for sale quite a while and so I ran up a lot of debt. It’s no big deal though, I only have a couple of years of work left to pay them off.”
Peter lowered his gaze, but you could see a frown on his face. Kai was looking at you for a while, but it was Kyungsoo who speaks up.
“Because Peter left.”
You sigh.
“Yes.”
Suddenly, Peter stands up and walks out of the door without a word.
“Peter! Baek!” You shout out, but the door is already closed.
“So he left you with a broken heart and debts on top of that?” Kai asks, a deep frown on his face.
“Guys, please. I told you it is not a big deal. He couldn’t have known and I agreed that he should go back as well, alright?”
You stand up and run after Peter, closing the door softly behind you. You knew where he would be, that boy couldn’t hide from you. After years of living together, his secrets had become yours as well. You sigh as you run around the side of the house and climb up the ladder leading to the roof.
“Peter?”
You hear a grunt in return, he wanted to be left alone, but you were not having it. He should know by now that you were a stubborn person. He was sitting on the edge of the roof, his legs dangling down. You sat down next to him in silence. After two minutes, he spoke up.
“How old were you?”
“Peter I told yo-”
“How old?”
“Sixteen. I was a year younger than you, when you left.”
“I don’t know why I asked. I knew that.”
“Don’t beat yourself up over it. It’s fine.”
“No it’s not. I promised you I would protect you no matter what and- and in the end I chickened out.”
He looks over at you one before facing the view again.
“Losing your immortality is scary.”
“Baek. Stop. It’s fine. I wasn’t mad then and I’m still not mad now.”
“I- I’m -”
“Y/N!!”
You look down to see Sehun waving at you, signalling you to come down.
You smile and give Peter’s shoulder a squeeze before winking at Sehun.
“Catch me.”
Sehun’s eyes widen and he looks like he is about to say something, but you don’t wait for it and jump down with eyes closed. You open your eyes again to see Sehun with wide eyes, his arms around your butt. He carefully puts you down on the ground.
“You are insane. What if I hadn’t caught you.”
“Oh please. I knew you would never let me fall.”
He groans in return and pushes you lightly, making you grin. Kai and Kyungsoo run over to the two of you with smiles on their faces.
“Come on. We have something to show you.”
You nod and follow the gang as they walk away from the house. You throw another look back, but Peter has already left.
The boys call at you and you run up behind them. The edge of the woods around the house looked like a green wall, because of how dense it was. You grin as you see Sehun shifting his weight from left to right, clearly excited. The lost boys were
adventurous to say the least. They had lines all throughout the forest, so that they could glide around the place. You however had never done it before though. Not because you were really scared of the height, but more scared of falling and breaking something. That’s why you preferred flying over whatever stupid things they did.
“Get on.”
Sehun is holding out his arms behind him so that you can get on his back.
“What?! Are you insane? No way in hell am I getting on your back like that.”
“Ah come on Y/N. It’ll be fine.”
“No.”
“Please?”
“NO.”
Your discussion is cut short when Kyungsoo walks over and lifts you up, putting you on Sehun’s back before you can say no.
“Soo!”
“It’ll be fine, Y/N. Sehun is the best out of the three of us.” Kyungsoo ensures you, so you grab on to Sehun’s neck tightly.
“Since when is Sehun the best out of us, I’m pretty good too.” Jongin whines and Sehun gives him a cocky grin.
“I swear to God, Sehun. If you drop me, I’ll break your neck.”
He laughs as he grabs on to your legs, pulling you up a bit.
“So mean.”
“Shut up.”
When you are sitting securely, the guys start running towards the forest. You had to admit, seeing them climb was always very impressive. They were basically monkeys. Sehun lets go of your legs and starts climbing jumping higher and higher in the tree, swinging between branches until he jumps to the platform. kyungsoo goes first, followed closely by Jongin. Sehun grabs the last metal rod before looking back at you.
“Just hold on tight. I didn’t drop you before, I won’t drop you now.”
He barely finishes his sentence, before jumping off. You close your eyes and hold on to his shoulders so tightly that you think he might break. You probably look like a baby koala right now. The glide is not too long, maybe two minutes before you can feel Sehun jumping off and landing on the ground, putting you down carefully. You hadn’t even noticed how hard your legs were shaking until you were back on the ground.
You open your eyes and look around for Sehun to give him a kick, but you stop halfway as you see where you are. The forest behind you, in front of you a giant wide meadow with grass waving in the wind. A little further, you can see little huts, in a circular formation, around one big white tent in the middle. The tribe. You had seen the village a couple of times while flying past, but you had never been to the village itself. The tribe was pretty closed off when it came to outsiders.
“What are we doing here?”
Jongin smiles and throws his arm around your shoulder as you walk closer.
“I know you’ve never seen them up close before and we had some business here so I thought
”
“I don’t know Nini. I don’t think I’m welcome here.”
“You’ll be fine. Trust me.”
He turns to your with a grin.
“You do trust me right?” He gives you an amused look.
“Yes.”
“Good. So, let’s go.”
You nod as you get to the edge of the village. Kyungsoo knocks against the wall of one of the houses and a very tall guy walks out.
“Hey. We brought a friend.” Sehun declares happily, already walking past the guy, following Soo.
The guy was pretty young, probably a bit older than you, and was looking down at you with a stern brow and a serious face. Then, his face suddenly lit up and he smiled wide. If you thought he was intimidating before, he suddenly made a complete one-eighty. He took a step forward and started excitedly shaking your hand. He quickly turned to Jongin and asked him something in a language you didn’t recognise and Jongin shook his head. Then the excited puppy looked down at you again.
“Hello. I’m Chanyeol. Welcome.”
You wanted to say your name, but you were already being dragged with him, to the center of the village. You look back to see Jongin looking at you with a smile and following you with a distance. Chanyeol dragged you on until you were in front of the white tent before letting go.
“This is
 hold on. JONGDAE!!”
You heard some noise from inside the tent before someone came walking out. A guy with probably the biggest grin you had ever seen. He looked at you in surprise.
“This is Sehun’s friend. She’sprettyright? Socooltoseesomenewfacesaroundhere.”
Chanyeol blurted everything out so fast, you were not sure if Jongdae had understood anything at all, but he still gave you a hand and shook it harshly.
“Yes, Chanyeol. It’s really nice indeed. So, what is your name?”
Chanyeol gave you an apologizing look but you just smiled at him.
“It’s Y/N.”
“Nice to meet you, Y/N.”
Jongdae gave you a smile before looking over your shoulder.
“Excuse me, I have to go help.”
You nod as he walks past you, before Chanyeol was already dragging you with him again. He turned you around and started walking towards the side of the village Kyungsoo and Sehun had walked off in.
“Chanyeol.”
Chanyeol stopped and turned around confused. Jongin was jogging over to you with a smile.
“You can let go of her arm. She won’t run away.” He chuckles, and Chanyeol looked down before realizing and letting go.
“Sorry, just excited.”
You giggle as you straighten up.
“I can tell. It’s okay.”
He smiles and starts walking again, motioning you to follow him. Jongin falls in step next to you with an amused grin on his face.
“You’re making all the boys on this island crazy already.”
You push him, trying to hold your laugh.
“Oh shut it. They are just not too used to girls.”
“So you’re not denying it?”
You turn to him as you walk on.
“Am I making you crazy?”
His eyes suddenly widen and his cheeks flush, but he keeps looking to the front.
“I- I don’t-”
“I was kidding, Jongin.”
He now turns to you and smiles, making his entire face light up. You suddenly decide he looks really good smiling.
“What business?” You decide to ask.
“Huh?”
“You said you were here for some business. What business?”
“Oh. The tribes have been trying to figure stuff out for the whole aging dilemma. They have this
goeroe or something, who might be able to see more.”
You nod as you arrive at the place Chanyeol was showing you.
He motions you over with a smile. You walk over to him and he leans over you, pointing to a big campfire inside one of the huts.
“Jongdae is the translator of the ancient language, he’ll help you guys understand what Mama says.”
“Mama?”
“Our oldest woman is called the Mama. She’s very old and very wise. Come.”
He grabs on to your hand and takes you closer to the fire. Jongdae was sitting on his knees, next to an old woman. Her hair was long and grey, falling over her shoulders. She was talking in the language you didn’t understand again, and Jongdae was translating everything she said to Kyungsoo and Sehun, who were sitting next to him on the ground. You were suddenly worried. Why were you here? This was clearly an intimate gathering, you shouldn’t-
Your thoughts were interrupted by a poke in your side. Jongin came standing behind you, his head resting on your shoulder while he wrapped his arm around your waist. You couldn’t quite remember if he had always been this clingy or if that was a recent development, but you decide to go with it.
“Just sit down next to Sehun, it’ll be fine. You are just as welcome here as we are.”
You sigh as he starts pushing you forward, towards the four people seated on the ground.
You get there but the old woman doesn’t even look up at you, so you silently sit down next to Sehun. Jongin was sitting next to you, and Chanyeol next to that. The woman seemed to be talking directly to Jongdae, but she was looking next to him. You almost gasped as he looked at you, but managed to hold it in.
She said something to you, and Jongdae quickly translated.
“Mama welcomed you.”
You nod and look back at Mama. You notice that her eyes are an icy blue color, and you then realize that that is not normal. She was blind. You didn’t have time to respond, before the woman was already talking again. Jongdae did his best to explain everything as clearly as possible.
“The moon is rising higher and higher. Mama thinks that the pirates might have something to do with the change in ages. Here in the village, young children have been aging more quickly as well.”
So the children here were also immortal. But then why was Mama so old? And Chanyeol and Jongdae? You’ll have to ask that later.
“She says she can feel trouble coming. A war is on the way. Mama says that maybe we should ask the help of the other residents of the island. The fairies are with many and more powerful than most.”
Before you can stop yourself, you cut in.
“Wait, fairies?”
There is silence in the room, before someone behind you speaks up.
“Yes, fairies. We’re here. Sorry I’m late.”

Mystery Crush
Summary: You are a trainee from JYP. You’re visiting your brother Kai at his dorm that he shares with his group mates. It’s your first time meeting them and you’re super excited but also super nervous! Espescally to finally meet your crush!
Genre: Fluff, protective older brother Kai, silly boys, etc. blah blah.
Length: 2,246 words
I know I’m no expert or anything, just wanted to write a little something something. Didn’t proofread either so sorry if there’s any errors... Enjoy!
________________________________________________________________
You stood nervously in the elevator as you continued to ascend higher and higher into the earth’s atmosphere. Your stomach starts to do somersaults and you feel a bit dizzy. You were already nervous enough before about meeting your brother’s group mates for the first time, now you also have to worry about being simultaneously sucked from a hundred story window after a bird flies into it causing it to break and the strong winds from being so high up and plummeting to your death thousands of feet below. Why didn’t Kai tell you that they were so high up. He was always not so great about disclosing important details such as this. 15. 16. 17. 18 fucking stories high and the dings just kept dinging and dinging.
You closed your eyes and imagined being on a beach. A deserted beach, just you sitting on the dry sand watching the water. Watching the fish jump in the water and watching the crabs walk like their walking sideways. This was the only thing that could soothe your nerves when you were in high places. Your brother taught you that.
Knocking you out of your happy place, you finally feel a jolt and hear the elevator opening. 27 stories high. Buildings this high should be illegal. Relieved that the mobile horror show was over you excitedly step out of the elevator and walk down the long white hallway. Instead of the mild somersaults, your stomach starts to do a whole olympic level gymnastics routine performed by Gabby Douglas and your head feels like it’s oozing fragments of your brain. You needed to calm yourself before you even made it to the door. Leaning back against a door, you take a few deep breathes and fan yourself with your hands. You can do this. You can do this. They’re just guys. Guys. 8 incredibly insanely beautiful guys. Men. 8 incredibly insanely beautiful sexy men. You stop fanning yourself. I can’t do this. I can’t. I’m leaving. I’ll just tell Kai that I forgot that I had singing lessons today or something. Just as you were about to balance on your own two feet the door behind you swings open and you yelp as you feel yourself falling further and further behind you. This is it. You think with your eyes closed. A thousand feet to my death. Before you feel yourself hitting the ground you feel two strong arms stopping you.
“Yah! Y/n! What are you doing?”
You look up into familiar eyes.
“Big brother!” You exclaimed excitedly and turn around to give him a hug. You haven’t seen him in person for months, you we’re both really busy, him with his comeback and you with your trainee training but somehow you were lucky enough for this little get together to even be possible.
Kai hugs you back. “What were you doing standing out there for so long? You a made a lot of noise when you were leaning against the door, I thought someone was trying was break in!”
“You were always an irrational scaredy cat.” You laughed as you thought of the equally, actually more irrational thought of being sucked from a building and falling to your death. You both laughed as you released each other from the hug.
“You’ll be the scaredy cat when you finally meet your “future husband”. Kai puts up quote signs as he’s saying this as a fit a giggles leaves his mouth.
“SHHHH! Someone might hear you!” You say as you press a finger to your lips.
Kai uses his best stereotypical girl voice imitation, “Oh the man of my dreams, my knight in shining armor, the father to my children - “ just before he announces the name of your crush you cover up his mouth just in time as some of the members back their way into the entry hall, probably wondering what was all the noise about.
“Hi!” You say over excitedly as your hands continue to cover up the mouth of the man that is laughing hysterically now.
“Hello!” Chen says matching your enthusiasm. “ You must be Kai’s sister, y/n.” He says now in his regular voice. Such a sweet, soothing voice.
“Yes I am.” Taking your hands away from a still giggling Kai, you bow to him and Sehun and Chanyeol who entered with him.
“Ah.. I should have known just by looking at Kai, that his sister would be very pretty. I should have braced myself better.” Chanyeol says shaking his head.
“You’re right, hyung.” Sehun says with a shy little smile.
You blushed at their complements. “Yah! Don’t get any ideas about my little sister. I already know she’s pretty and so does she, that’s all that matters.” Grabbing your hand, Kai pushes past the boys and goes into a living room full of more members. You see Kyungsoo and Suho in the kitchen. Xiumin and Lay sitting at the dining room table with a laptop. Baekhyun sitting in front of the TV with a PAUSED screen displayed. They all look dead in your face as you enter the open concept living space.
There’s a few seconds of silence. You feel your cheeks heat up as all eyes are on you.
“Hello y/n! Welcome to our home!” Suho says as he exits the kitchen space and bows.
“Why so boring hyung?” Baekhyun says chuckling as he gets up from the floor and walks over to you, pushing Suho out of the way. “Hello y/n! Welcome to our home!” Baekhyun says while doing exaggerated aeygo and doing a little dance that included shaking his butt.
A few seconds of silence.
An eruption of laughter coming from all mouths in the room, including yours.
“Wow this guy is embarrassing!” Xiumin says as he clutches his stomach.
“That was priceless!” Lay says clapping his hands like a seal.
“I think Suho’s greeting was better!” Kyungsoo says in between breaths.
“That was so cute!” You say wiping tears from your cheeks.
“I’m glad you appreciated it!” Baekhyun says stepping to your side, poking his elbow out for you to hook your arm into his. “Y/n! Come play video games with me.” Baekhyun says leading you into entertainment space. “You can have Sehun’s controller.”
“Yah! Why does sh - “ Chanyeol gives Sehun an nudge. “Don’t be rude to our honored guest.” Chanyeol says as he follows behind you and Baekhyun, grabbing his controller, leaving behind a pouting Sehun.
Within several hours, you’ve played and dominated various shooter and hand to hand combat video games with Baekhyun, Chanyeol and Sehun. Ate some delicious food prepared by Kyungsoo. Caught up with your brother Kai. Exchanged witty banter with Chen. Watched funny EXO cracks on youtube with Lay and Xiumin. And took mental notes of being a good leader with Suho, with sutle giggles and chuckles in the background. Now it’s the end of night and you were all playing drinking games and having a great time. By this time you were all extremely drunk.
“Ahhh! I think that I’ve finally found the girl of my dreams. Y/n please marry me.” Chen slurs as he downs another shot.
“No no no no no. She doesn’t want you at all. I’m her type. Y/n marry me instead.” Chanyeol says extending his hand to you for you take.
You just laugh and laugh, not really understand what was currently happening. Man were you super drunk.
“No! I would never let my sister marry anyone of you guys. She’s too good for all of you.” Kai says while pouring himself another drink. “Besides,” He downs his drink. “Neither one of you is who she’s crushing on anyway.”
A few moments of silence. Even the side conversations had ceased. Eyes dart from you to Kai to different members around the table. Damn it. Kai and his big drunken mouth.
“Whaaaaaat?” Suho exclaims, mouth a gape.
“Who is she crushing on?” Kyungsoo asks with wide eyes.
“Is it me?” Sehun asks pointing to himself, looking straight into your eyes, your soul.
“No! It’s me!” Baekhyun says, jumping to his feet pointing to the heavens.
All of this yelling could be heard on Mars. Your dizziness starts to creep in again. Gabby Douglas has also retaken the stage in your tummy. You feel your cheeks getting hot, hotter than ever before.
“It’s obviously me.” Xiumin says, as he downs another shot.
“Sorry hyung but it’s me. We’ve been exchanging looks ever since she stepped in our dorm.” Lay says patting Xiumin sympathetically on the back.
Kai rubs his temples slowly as the commotion gets louder and louder. He looks over at you and sees how uncomfortable you’re becoming.
“Alright! Alright! Everyone shut up!” Kai yells, louder than anyone. The arguments cease, but the frowns do not. Kai turns to you. “Y/n, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to say that, it just slipped. I know I always make fun of you because of your crush but I would never try to expose you like that.” You smile at your brother’s sad eyes. “Oh big brother. You’re always so extra emotional when you drink.” You chuckle and look at the other boys as they awaited your answer. You grab the bottle of alcohol in front of you and gulp down it’s remains. You’re going to need to be really extra drunk for whats about to happen next. You slam the empty bottle down on the table and gaze over all the extremely handsome faces. One in particular.
“You really want to know? The name of my crush?”
You see 8 heads nod frantically.
“Well how about I tell you who it’s not. We already know it’s not Chen or Chanyeol thanks to my big brother over here.”
Chen and Chanyeol give you pouty faces.
“Sorry boys, I think you’re both handsome and I like you but just not in that way.” You give a shrug. “My crush is not someone who was in EXO-M.”
“Aww man!” Lay says, looking defeated. Xiumin pours himself another drink, head hanging low.
“My crush is also not apart of the beagle line.” You said lowering your head as the truth slowly makes its way to the surface.
“Noooooooo!!” Baekhyun says, clutching his heart dramatically. “Y/n. I thought we had something.” Baekhyun says while pretending to wipe tears from his eyes.
6 eyes stare intensely at you as they await your next clue. You feel sweat start to form on your forehead.
“My crush is not a maknae.”
“Ahh. So this is what heartbreak feels like.” Sehun says as he leans back in his chair.
4 eyes. Gabby Douglas is also accompanied by Simone Biles at this point, and they are performing a special, complicated duo routine for the fans all around the world.
“My crush is not the main singer."
A few moments of silence. You close your eyes as you begin your thousands of feet descend into the abyss.
“Suho???”
“The boring guy?”
An eruption of questions fill the room, as objections and confusions are thrown at you. You glance at Suho, who hasn’t said anything during all of this. You can see a small smile and a hint of red on his cheeks.
“Alright everyone it’s getting late. Y/n needs to go back to her dorm.” Kai says standing up, looking at his phone for the time.
“Maybe she should just sleep in Suho’s room.” Baekhyun said with a sly grin.
“You little!” Kai says as he throws a piece of leftover shrimp at Baekhyun, which he annoying catches in his mouth. Suho gives him a subtle pinch on his arms, making Baekhyun make a face full of pain.
You help the boys gather up all the trash and dirty dishes and make your way to the entry hall with Kai.
“Ah! It was so great to see you little sis.” Kai squeezes you a give hug and gives you a kiss on your forehead.
“You too big bro.” You felt your phone vibrate in your pocket. “My ride is here.” You said looking at your phone. “Until next time!” You said opening the door but something spots it from opening it all the way.
“So. Now that you’ve finally met your future husband, what do you think about him?” Kai asks with a curious smile, as he holding the door.
You blush. “He’s perfect.”
Kai smiles at your adorableness and lets you out the door. You walk down the long, hallway back to the hellevator when you hear someone running behind you. Probably Kai with a plate of leftovers. The person finally catches up to you and you turn to see the face of Exo’s leader.
“Y/n.”
You just stare at Suho, not sure what to say. All you could think about is that you’re alone with him.
“Y/n.” He says again. “Here’s my number. Call me sometime.” Suho extends his hand with a small piece of paper with some numbers on it. You take it out of his hand, slowly, like a zombie and couldn’t do anything else but smile like a clueless little girl. He gives you charming smile and walks back toward the dorm, hands shoved in his pockets.
The ding from the elevator and whooshing doors snaps you out of your trance, but only a little. You back into the elevator, still watching Suho walk back to his dorm. You look down at the piece of paper in your hand and smile dreamily.
“Perfect.”

Words: 3342

Pt 2
You had never been the most popular girl, but things changed when the hot jock Kai, quarterback and class vice president of your high-school decided to put his eyes on you even though not in the way you would've expected...
"Y/n Wake up, the breakfast is ready, I'm not going to ride you to school, so don't be late the first day for God's sake!" your mother was screaming down from the kitchen as you looked yourself in the mirror getting your uniform right in place. You had never considered yourself a pretty girl, sure... You had a good body and your friends always bragged about it, but that's it. You were not a pretty face, just an average girl from an average family.
It was your first day as a senior student, the last first day of high-school, you didn't really care about getting on time to school at this moment, you were feeling all the emotions of being in the last year, being rebellious and careless or so you wanted to be, but you knew deep inside you cared about your grades and getting to a good University. You had good grades, not the best of your class but good enough to be accepted in a good University. You gave one last look in the mirror, straightening your hair a little just to keep it on place.
You rushed down the stairs to the kitchen grabbing a toast and sipping a little of coffee as you stuffed your school stuff into your backpack. Your mother furrowed her eyebrows and before she could scold you, you already were leaving the house.
It was a 20 minutes’ walk to the school and at this pace you were not going to get on time, as you were walking down the street you heard a horn and instantly looked up with a big smile, knowing the sound so well. It was Baekhyun your childhood friend, you haven't seen him all summer because he had been to his grandmother house for vacations, so this was the first time you were seeing him after two months.
"Hey you loser get in" Baekhyun had now his hair an ashy blonde, the last time you had seen him his hair was a deep and strong red. You puffed a laugh and got into the car.
"That’s how you say hello to your lovely best friend who hasn’t seen you in ageees?" you emphasized the last word as you put your seatbelt on. He rolled his eyes as he bent down to give you a quick hug. You weren't much affectionate with each other, you both thought it was awkward, you were in fact always mocking and cursing the other but in a friendly way.
"So
How has your summer been? you asked at him "I can see you have changed your hair... Again
Seriously you are going to be bald in a few years" he laughed as he kept the eyes on the road.
"Yah! Don't say such a thing, I will always have a beautiful hair and face" you howled with laughter, he was always like that making you laugh and smile, that's way he was your best friend after all. "It was fine, but it would have been better if you were there, grandma told me to take you the next time"
You talked all through the ride to school, catching up of everything you both did in the summer. How you spent it with your girlfriends going to the lake and drinking every weekend, nothing special really and how he spent his days with his grandparents.
When you noticed you were already on the parking lot of your school. You exhaled big; thinking that there was never gonna be another first day of school. Baekhyun closed the car and gave you a nod as to say you were ready to come in. You walked together to the entrance, as you too went through the doors, the bell had not rung yet meaning you had a little time to see your friends before classes started.
"Hey I will see you later, I have a few things to do before the ring bells" Baekhyun gave you a smile and turned away, God knowing what he had to do. You didn't mind though, you wanted to see your girls anyway.
"Y/n!!, there you are, we thought you were not gonna make it on time" a tall blonde girl talked first, she was really a beauty only if she loose a little weight. She was one of the girls boys were crazy about, but she had a dorky personality and was a little shy. Always worried about what people would say, about what they would think, if she only knew people would love her anyway...
"Yah Hyo, I told you I was gonna make it on time... You have such a little fate on me" you put your hands on your chest pretending to be hurt but laughing the next second. “Really Y/N... How did you get on time? We know you are always late on purpose just to see Kim Jongin in the entrance before class" now a dark long haired and pale girl talked.
"WHAT? Are you fucking kidding me Yuna? Who would want to see that asshole getting all horny with his brainwashed girlfriend?" Kim Jongin
The heartthrob, vice president and quarterback of the high school team. He was fucking hot you will admit it but he was an asshole and so was his girlfriend Krystal, the most popular girl in school.
"Baekhyun gave me a ride that's why I'm on time, please don't make me think about that stupid egghead and his plastic girlfriend, it makes me wanna puke" you made a sign with your fingers as you wanted to puke before the bell rang and you had to enter to class.
The first period of school went easy as it was the first day teachers didn't really have anything to teach yet. It would take a few days to get the routine back on track. The bell rang and you head to the cafeteria to have some lunch. You sited with your friends in the same table you have been siting for the past 4 years.
Baekhyun arrived a few minutes after you were all sited looking strangely happy.
"Yah, what happened with you? I haven't seen you this happy in school since Mr. Jong had to run to the bathroom Because of a stomachache"
"Nothing, I'm just happy to be a senior, it feels good to know this is the last year, it gives you a sense of power, I don't know" he didn't want to talk about it as he devoured his food quickly before you could ask him something else.
Suddenly you heard a commotion, someone had burped into the cafeteria and said something out loud which you couldn't hear, people started to get up of their sits and head out of the cafeteria. So did you and your friends, curious about what could it be. You followed the people who were ahead of you, guiding you outside the school to the parking lot, and that’s when you see it.
Krystal was sited in the front of a black convertible with a man holding her waist with one hand as it other hand was holding a cigarette. The man had black Raybans on and his hair was pulled back, he had light ripped jeans and a black t-shirt. He seemed older than you.
"He is a college boy, his name is Jaejoong and it's one of the most popular and influential guys of the local college. His parents are the owners of a big industry apparently" you heard from a guy whose name you didn't know but was in your biology class.
"But wasn't Krystal going out with Kim Jongin? June asked to the boy. "Rumor has it that they broke up in summer when Krystal met Jaejoong in a college fraternity party" he replied. Sure the news traveled fast in a little town as yours and even though the new guy was handsome and from a wealthy family so was Kim Jongin who in your opinion was hotter than Jaejoong.
You shook your head hard. What were you doing defending Kim douchebag Jongin? He was an asshole and probably deserved it. You looked up to the boy himself in the entrance of the school looking at the show his now ex-girlfriend was giving. He smiled and rolled his eyes as he talked with his friends Sehun, Junmyeon and Jongdae, friends from his football gang. If he cared or was hurt hell it didn't seem that way, he was good at hiding it or he really didn't care.
When people saw that he didn't respond in any way they just headed back to the cafeteria before the lunch break would end. And as you were doing the same you saw Kim Jongin looking at you when you went through the door, passing him by. Your heart stopped for a few second until you shook your head. You excused your friends and went to the girl’s bathroom. You entered and instantly washed your face, what did just happen? Kim Jongin would never look at you. You felt so stupid for your reaction. You washed your face again as you convinced yourself that it had to be just a coincidence. You couldn't be so affected by Kim stupid Jongin. You cursed yourself and went out the bathroom to your locker. You were grabbing your books for the last class of the day as you felt a presence behind the door of your opened locker. You closed it hard to know who the fuck was standing there and you almost lost your breath when you saw who it was.
Kim egghead Jongin.
You stood there a few seconds to get your brain to work again, Kim Jongin or Kai as his friends liked to call him was standing in front of you with a little smirk on his lips. You were about to say something but he opened his mouth first. "Hey y/n how has your summer been? I saw you at the ending summer party in Suho's house the other day"
You felt your face heat as he talked. Of course you have been to the best and last party of the summer, everyone was invited and you didn't wanted to lose the opportunity to have a few drinks with your friends but you would've never imagine that Kai or any of his friends would acknowledged you. You were just not into his friends circle, not even in his party circle. The football gang had the reputation of passing by all the groups of girls from school but your group of friend never made it to have an invitation to their well-known gatherings, either you were their friends, their girlfriends or just a hook up for one of them, that were the ways to get into their circle. And your group had never been any of that.
The only times you went to their parties was when they organized a huge one and everyone in town was invited.
"Ah... Yeah I went to the party but I'm afraid I didn't see you, I'm sorry I just don't pay attention to things I don't care" you were trying to seem like you didn't really see him but of course you did.
"Hmm, what a pity, I would had liked to talk to you that night, I liked your black tiny dress" he was making fun of you; it had to be a joke. You put the best poker face you could to hide your embarrassment. “Yeah, what a pity, I will remember to never use it again" you then put your bag in your shoulder as the bell was about to ring but Kai stopped you grabbing your wrist. The touch sent chills to your body.
“Hey wait, do you want to go out sometime?” He was very confident in his words, always so cocky, always so on point, but you had to resist his charms, someone as Kai would never invite you to go out, you weren’t stupid.
“Is it a joke? Please if it is stop it I don’t want to do anything with y
.” but before you could finish he say; “No, no it not a joke, why would you think that? Don’t you trust me?” He now put a worried look in his eyes. Wow this guy was good at convincing people to doing what he wanted.
“No, I don’t, now excuse me I have a class to attend” The bell rang and you rushed to the classroom. The next 2 hours you just couldn’t pay attention to anything the teacher say, your mind was coming back again and again to the scene you had witness earlier, everything had happened so fast you didn’t know what to think. Gladly the bell rang once again meaning the end of the day; you stuffed your things in your backpack and run to the hall where your friends were waiting for you already.
You told your friends everything that had happened, the conversation with Kai, the way he looked at you in the entrance after Krystal show, and how you had avoided him.
“What the fuck, really? Oh my god and what are you going to do?  I mean
what if tries to take you out again? You can’t avoid him forever” Hyo was now talking and you could sense she was a little bit worried, she was such a good friend always caring for everyone, but she also knew you didn’t take shit from no one.
“Listen, don’t worry, you know I would never fall for shit like that
of course I had made mistakes in the past but I have learned from them and this time
this time I won’t fall for it again, I can’t do that to myself” Your mind was now thinking about a few months ago, you had gone out with an upper classmate that now was graduated, his name was Yoongi and he was kind of a bad boy, he was always late for school, ditching classes, taking you along with him to the back of the school to make out and smoke a joint. You didn’t even know how you had kept your grades up last year. You knew that what you had done was not good, you weren’t against smoking weed from time to time but not in school that was just not correct. But you let it happen again and again because you wanted to be with him, he made you feel so special, all those nights you spent with him in his backseat, in your room when your parents weren’t home, and even though you were not going out in a sense you weren’t his girlfriend you had gotten attached to him in little time, he was funny and smart when he was with you, you’ve always had a thing for bad boys, the idea of him being a bitch with everyone else but you made your heart tremble.
But as the saying goes
easy come easy go. When school ended and summer began he disappeared, he didn’t talk to you as much as he did, every time you tried to make a plan with him he would just make an excuse, you didn’t want to force things moreover the fact he wasn’t your boyfriend, and you hated that. You hated that you had spent all that time with him and still you were just a “friend” for him. Until one day you decided it was better to call it quits, you stopped messaging him and he didn’t write to you again.
A month later you went to a party and you saw him with another girl. He looked at you as he was making out with this girl but you didn’t even flinch, your friends were there to distract you, so you spent the night with them drinking and laughing. Baekhyun danced with you all night trying to make you lose yourself a little, he had told you from the start that Min Yoongi was bad news but
the heart wants what it wants, right?
 “Hey
we know that you are strong but we don’t want you to be with another asshole again, I don’t know what you have with fuckboys really” Yuna tried to make things lighter with a little giggle, and you laughed along with Hyo. “I know I know
I don’t fucking know either, I have a magnet for fuckboys” And with that last words you went to your locker to put your things in.
You were outside the school now, Baekhyun was not in sight and that surprised you a little, he always gives you a lift home or you end up crashing in his house to watch Netflix and eat snacks. You just supposed he had something else to do.
“I can give you a lift instead if your friend has forgotten about you” You heard someone said behind you and as you turned up to see who it was you had already had an idea. Kim fucking Jongin. Your friends stepped a little to your sides to “protect you” but you stepped forward closing the distance you had with him.
“What makes you think I would accept sitting with you in a closed car?” You sounded confident and that made him smirk. Fuck. He was so handsome when he did that.
“I don’t bite I promise, c’mon Y/N I just want to talk to you, I’ve been trying all day” You rolled your eyes hard, he was making things difficult for you to bear, he was an asshole but he was so hot. “Whatever you want to talk about you can do it here”.
“What if I give you all a lift? Would you accept getting into my car if your friends are with you?” Hyo and Yuna were about to reject his proposal but curiosity took the best of you. “Ok, hurry up I don’t have all day” You started to walk to his black Wrangler Jeep, a smile in his lips.
He took Yuna first whose house was nearer, then Hyo who gave you a sign to call her after he would deposit you and as soon as she stepped out of the car he started talking.
“So
you didn’t answer me earlier, how has your summer been?”
“Fine, normal, nothing special really” You growl in between your teeth. “Yours?” You added. “It was good, but It could had been better” He answer with a smirk again, he did that all the time and it was starting to make you mad. You supposed he was talking about his break up with Krystal but he opened his mouth again. “You don’t know how bad I wanted to talk to you at Suho’s house the other night”
“And why didn’t you? Oh
 let me guess
you are not used to have a real conversation with a girl other than a few words before your tongue is inside their mouths” You knew he had been with Krystal for about two years meaning he hadn’t been with other girls in that time but before Krystal you had seen tons of girls in his arms and it was always the same; a smile and a few words from his mouth before he had his lips attached to them”
“Actually you are right, I didn’t know what to tell you, I know you are not like them and I didn’t know what to say for you to not run away so I just let the opportunity slid from me” The confession startled you a little and before you realized the car had stopped and you were in front of your house.
“Why don’t you go out with me next Friday to Jongdae’s house? You know is the senior party and it’s going to be good, your friends can go with us if they want to of course” You didn’t say anything because you were thinking a way to reject him but he took your silence as a yes before you could babble an excuse. “I would pick you up at 8” and with that he bent to open the door for you.
As soon as you entered your house you run up the stairs to your room and closed the door, falling into your bed the next second, your friends where going to kill you. #]lïżœ"

SERIAL KILLER (PART 2)
Tumblr media
CHARACTERS: KAI, OC GENRE = HORROR TRIGGER WARNING = mentions of violence, rape and murder
GIF (credit to original owner.  Not mine)
The wind blew softly as i walked to bus stop. There was a coolness to the air that portends the coming of winter. Soon the land will be blanketed with snow. For now, it is still warm enough to walk without the heavier clothing I will have to put on for winter. I met a wonderful man today. His smile lights up the whole room. Dimples in his cheeks makes him appear younger than he truly is. Most importantly, he asked me out on a date. His name is Yixing, Zhang Yixing.
I was lost in my thoughts and was startled when a hand grabbed my arm from behind. Without thinking about it, I produced the blade hidden in the wrist of my other arm and swung behind and down. Kai easily deflected my blade and hugged me tightly to his chest. He was laughing softly like a damn psycho.
Unfortunately, I am the only one who can hear it. Worse, to the passerby who glanced at us dispassionately, it looked like we were two lovers hugging each other in the middle of the sidewalk.
“Yah! Let go!” I bit out between clenched teeth. I moved to try to kick his legs but Kai was faster and danced teasingly out of my reach. He was smirking.
“Temper, temper, temper!” Kai wagged a finger at me. He was grinning widely.
“What the fuck did you do now?” I whispered furiously.
“Nothing, I was just following you. I saw you panting after that little chinese runt.”
I clenched my fists as i desperately tried to reign in my temper. Not Yixing. He is mine. He is the one.
Kai sauntered towards me and threw an arm across my shoulder. He bent down to whisper in my ear. “Does he know?”
I was shaking with anger but I cannot let Kai win. Yixing is mine. He is the one. The only one so far who gave me this feeling. He will be my first. My first lone kill. I can practically taste his blood, his eventual realization of who I truly am. The dawning horror.
“Dammit it Kai! You had yours, and then some. Yixing is mine!” I glared at him before i turned on my heel and quickly walked to the bus stop where thankfully my bus was just pulling in. I watched Kai through the windows as he leaned on post giving me a mock salute. As the bus pulled away, I saw him turn his handsome face to a young schoolgirl who had been shamelessly eyeing him for the last few minutes.
Well that should occupy him tonight. Her screams will be music to his ears for the next few hours. If she’s lucky he’ll kill her tonight. If she’s not, then she’ll be tortured for a few days before she joins all the girls that Kai had collected.
So far he has eight heads in a duffle bag. That one will be number nine. At least this year. When you have a serial killer for a brother, it is hard to keep track sometimes.
I arrived home first and quickly went to my room making sure to lock my door this time. That’s probably useless but It should warn me if Kai tries to get in. I went to the bathroom and opened the medicine cabinet to look for some Advil for my headache.
Briefly I glanced at the eyeballs floating around in a small jar on the counter. It would have been nicer if Kai also got Luhan’s lashes when he dug those eyes. It wasn’t his eyes that were pretty, rather it was his long lashes that any girl would envy that made his eyes so remarkable.
Still it was the thought that counts. I have to give Kai Oppa an A+ for effort.
The entire bathroom is now sparkly clean. Not a trace of blood could be seen. I snorted when I remembered how long Kai and I had to clean the grouts. That will teach him.
I heard Kai’s truck pulling in the driveway and looked out the window. Sure enough, there’s the jerk and the dumb girl. She was giggling and practically molding herself to his side. The schoolgirl was gone instead a disheveled hot mess was in her place. Her school uniform was unbuttoned all the way down, an inch of gap between the two sides of her blouse leaves little to the imagination. Her ample breasts were barely covered and its obvious that she’s not wearing her bra. Kai flicked a quick glance at my window knowing I was probably peeking down at them. Surreptitiously he winked and held up a hand, white cotton panties twirling on a finger.
He led her to the back of the house. To her, it probably looked like a bachelor’s pad on top of a garage. Which it is on top. But down below, where the walls are thick and the earth will swallow up her screams, is our slaughterhouse.
Have fun, I mouthed at him before I winked back at him. Kai is my brother after all. My twin brother. There are bonds that cannot be broken.
I hummed softly as I prepared for a long soak. It is times like this that I miss Luhan. He was good company. Always fun to talk to. I wish I can remember where I buried his body. I fell asleep and Kai was driving when we disposed of his body. At least I know where we buried Kris and Tao.
I turned on the video feed and plugged in my earbuds before I lowered myself inside the bathtub. Maybe I can pretend Luhan is behind me cradling me as we soaked in the bathtub like we used to. What is wrong with me? Why is it I tend to gravitate towards chinese men? Chanyeol has been after me for a long time. I’m pretty sure he will be an excellent lover.
The screams started. I looked again on the small screen of my iPad. Nope. Slut’s not bleeding yet. She’s having an orgasm. Kai was looking directly at the screen, her screams of ecstasy the only sound I can hear. He grinned widely before he pulled a large knife out and stabbed her on the chest. Her screams of ecstasy quickly became screams of pain, horror and futility. He plunged the knife over and over again until the only sound filling our ears was the sound of Kai panting from his exertions. He threw aside the knife and pulled out his dick from inside her lifeless body. Excitedly he pumped his cock a couple of times and ejaculated a stream of cum on her now lifeless face.
How old were we when we got sold into that brothel? Ten? Twelve? It seems like a lifetime when everyday is pure hell. We both begun to service men and women before we were old enough to even know what rape and prostitution meant. We learned that to survive, we need to pretend enjoyment, to seduce and entice.
I was raped by an Chinese businessman looking for a virgin before I was old enough to have my first menstrual period. Kai danced for old biddies looking for a boy toy. It took years but suddenly we were free. In one night we managed to kill an entire room full of degenerate fucks. We grabbed all the money, jewelry and cards we could. The police will take sometime before they discover the bodies. The brothel moved around a lot.
We emptied the cards of all the cash we could get, bought fake IDs, new identities and never looked back. This remote farmhouse came into our possession by sheer luck. One of the brothel’s patron had a BDSM kink and used my name to secretly purchase it. Kai and I are putting it to good use.
Kai made his first lone kill the night he turned legal adult. We went club hopping to celebrate our birthday. A slightly older female went for him like a cougar when Kai was having fun dancing on the dance floor. He smiled sexily at her and let her paw at his body. I was the only one who saw the evil glint in his eyes as he twirled around grinding his hips to her backside.
I lost him in the crowd sometime later. I went home with Chen that night. Lucky for him he was not really chinese and is sweet as can be. I kissed him as he slept before I slipped out of the house. He doesn’t know how dangerously close he came to losing his head that night. Literally.
I came home and nearly died when I walked in on Kai naked from the waist up, sipping coffee at the kitchen table. He had blood painted in sprays across his chest and face.
“Where did you go last night?” Kai asked casually between sips of coffee.
“You left first? So none of your business?” I threw back at him.
“Had to. Bitch was groping my dick in the middle of the dance floor.” He grimaced.
“And?” I raised my brow in question of the blood.
“I gave her an orgasm she couldn’t forget.” He laughed and laughed psychotically. I waited for him to run out of breath.
“So to ask the obvious question, where is she?” I asked drily.
“Slaughterhouse” was his short reply.
Tired of his cryptic answers, I grabbed his hand as I dragged him along while I marched to his quarters and down the stairs. The bitch was spread eagled and naked on the bed in the middle of the room. Her dead body was still warm to my touch as i reached over to pretentiously check for a pulse. Her mouth was gaping wide open. She had cum filling her mouth and drying on her face.
“Oppa did you do this?” I asked softly.
“YES!! I killed her! I killed the bitch! I will kill all those fucking bitches! Those dirty whores! I will kill all those mother fuckers who raped you. I want to hear them scream and beg like you used to

.” Kai was agitatedly pacing and pulling his hair.
“Oppa! Oppa!” I waved my hands in front of his face to get his attention. Dejectedly he stopped pacing and looked at me.
I gave him a brilliant smile which startled him.
“Good Job!” I threw my arms around him and hugged him.

Ayato Drabble #2
His grandfather’s motivations are so thinly veiled that Ayato doesn’t know why he even bothered coming along with him. Well, no, that’s not right. He very well knows why he agreed to come along despite not wanting to, namely for two specific reasons: One: his mother had taken an urgent flight back to Japan for work-related reasons, leaving him alone in Russia with his siblings, cousins, and useless uncle, so he couldn’t rely on her to stay with him; Two: while said useless uncle would be around at his grandfather’s house, it wasn’t uncommon for him to bring back ladies Ayato had no idea even existed prior to his grandfather temporarily leaving his uncle in charge of watching over the place while they were gone. So, yes, he knows why, but it’s just that he’s now wondering if dealing with the strange women his uncle loves is worse than dealing with the strange people at the “party” (it’s more a gathering if anything, full of other rich families doing rich family things) his grandfather so obviously brought him to in order to introduce him to the host’s daughter who’s “cute” and “only a year younger than him.” He doesn’t want to meet her. There’s no reason to, especially because they’ve already met before, followed by him complaining to his grandfather who’s conveniently forgotten by now how Ayato had clearly explained to him that Vera Volkov is dense. Stupid. Annoying, loud, and so on. Ayato doesn’t like dense people. “Dedulyaaa,” he interrupts, prying into the conversation between his grandfather and the owner of the house. His efforts are met with no rewards, just a few pats on the head that he knows is Dedulya talk for “Yes, yes, I know, now go away.” He leans away from the touch, scoffing (which, of course, also goes unnoticed). Fine--he’ll go away, but not to talk to that annoying Vera. He decides that he’ll instead make a point by standing near one of the tables, which has been carefully layered with treats for the guests, with his arms folded over his chest. This, in theory, is a perfect plan to show his distaste for his grandfather’s lack of consideration, but in practice is very hard to pull off when his grandfather isn’t even in the room anymore. At least, though, he’s apparently attracted the attention of someone. “Heeey,” says a boy who looks suspiciously like Vera Volkov, now standing in front of him. “You look like a dog took a piss on your shoes.” Maybe if Ayato ignores him, he’ll go away. Maybe he won’t say anything else. Maybe-- “I made it worse, huh,” he continues, still very much there. “Wrinkling your nose like that
Hey, I take showers like everyone else, okay? I don’t smell.” “Eh?” Ayato blinks, not even having realized that he was showing such obvious distaste. Oops. Either way, it hadn’t worked, so he has no choice but to acknowledge him. “Um
Okay.” Clearly, he absolutely knows how to get his point across. “You don’t have to sound like you don’t believe me
” The boy in front of him sounds a bit dejected, which is surprising. Ayato thinks that he must be a little bit older than he is, judging by his height, but not old enough that he has any kind of atmosphere that demands respect, thankfully. “Not like that,” Ayato says, fully aware how clumsy his words sound. Ugh; he hates speaking in Russian, and the fact that both of his grandparents knew Japanese fluently had made him lazy in learning, which sucked, because his sister was already so far ahead of him with it. He wishes she were here now, so she could speak for him, but she isn’t, so this boy will have to deal with his shitty Russian. “Holy crap, your Russian really does suck.” Or not. “What?” “Vera told me you suck at speaking Russian, so I wanted to see for myself, and you really do.” He doesn’t suck so bad that he can’t understand what this kid is saying in full, unfortunately. Ayato suddenly wishes he was worse at something for the first time in his life. “You suck,” he says, indignant. Vera’s brother might be right, but that doesn’t mean he has to take it. “Yeah,” the guy responds, to which Ayato furrows his eyebrows, getting a grin out of him. He looks stupid when he smiles, just like Vera. “Hey, come with me.” He grabs Ayato’s wrist before he has the chance to protest, tugging him toward a hallway, then some stairs, then even more stairs. He’s lucky Ayato’s feeling generous and that he finds the living room full of strangers more annoying than one stranger. When they finally reach the attic, which is surprisingly clean for an attic and not full of spider webs like he had always imagined attics to be, he’s prompted to sit down on a nearby wooden box, which he reluctantly does after making sure that there’s really no dust on it. The ceiling in the attic is low, not so much that he has to crouch, but if his grandfather or anyone taller than the older boy came in here, he knows they would have to, which is probably why the attic looks like it’s been taken over by said boy. There’s various magazines piled on other boxes nearby, notebooks, and other stuff that he recognizes as something he’d find in Sousuke’s possession sometimes, too. “Sacha,” the boy says after pushing some magazines off the other nearby box so that he can sit across from Ayato. Ayato frowns at the sound of them hitting the floor, hating how messy this guy was turning out to be. “Okay,” he says, huffing. It’s not like he’d asked, right? He has the right to be dismissive. Still, it’d be annoying to be known as “the guy who sucks at Russian,” so he gives in for now. “Ayato.” “Okay, Aya.” “Ayato.” “Aya.” “Aya--forget it.” It’s not like he’ll ever see Sacha again after this, so it doesn’t matter what he calls him. “What
” he trails off, biting his lip as he tries to think of how to say what he’s thinking in Russian. “What is this?” “An attic? You don’t know what an attic is?” That’s not what he meant, and he has a feeling Sacha knows it. “You don’t know Russian, and you don’t know what an attic is. Wooow.” “I know Russian,” Ayato snaps back. “I know an attic.” Or at least he does now, having added the word to his mental library after hearing Sacha say it in Russian. “Huh, I was wrong. You know everything, don’t you, Aya.” He’s being looked down on, and he hates it. Ayato fights down the immature urge to get up so that he can try to fight him, mostly because he can tell he’d probably lose against him in a fight. “Annoying,” he says instead, folding his arms over his chest again and looking off to the side. When he looks back, Sacha’s in front of him, having moved from the box in order to invade Ayato’s personal space. For some reason, Ayato thinks that he wants to die. That’s probably what this feeling is. “I’ll teach you Russian,” Sacha says, catching Ayato off guard. He doesn’t need a teacher. He can learn on his own, he wants to say, but he isn’t sure how to say it properly, or at least not with the right attitude he wants to throw back at this guy for being annoying. “Don’t need~” he settles on instead, leaning away from Sacha and his lack of respect. “Yah, you totally do. You suck. Like, you’re the worst ever.” Ayato’s offense must show on his face, because Sacha laughs. “Besides, you’ve got nothing to do at places like this anyway, right? I think you’re funny, so let’s be friends.” He doesn’t think he’s said anything funny this entire time, but it’s the first time he’s been called something other than a kid with a stick up his butt, so Ayato decides he’ll let it slide, even if it might be Sacha bullying him again. “Whatever,” he says, leaving it at that because, honestly, Sacha’s right; whenever his grandfather makes him come to places like this, he always ends up feeling left out due to his lack of experience with Russian, and he’d rather deal with her jerk of a brother than be forced to try to have a conversation with Vera Volkov ever again. “‘Kay. I’ll come find you whenever we’re both at one of these places, so just stand by the wall like an awkward loser again so you’re easy to find.” Ayato suddenly hopes that their first lesson on Russian can be about how to defend himself when accused of committing murder that he may have actually done. He doesn’t say that, of course. “Whatever.” “Yeah, whatever,” Sacha agrees. “Hey, do you like
” Eventually, in the distant future, Ayato will come to realize that he happened to like whatever Sacha decided to bring up those days they spent together simply because Sacha was the one to bring it up
but hey, when he’s eleven, he doesn’t have to worry about gay crisises yet.

Lost Pages Ch. 1: A Very Scary Book
Summary: Silver and some of the heroes face off against some of the most dangerous members of a very dangerous gang. Even if these two don’t really look the part.
A/N: For Silver’s birthday. This arc along with other things will be having an undercurrent of Dream SMP characters and them messing around with what the heroes are doing. There’s a bunch of the actual canon I had to chuck in the bin to fit the AU but fortunately Skeppy and Bad being BFF’s got to stay completely unscathed. This means that while I will spoil some of the SMP you do not have to be caught up to know what these characters are doing.
Chapters: 1, 2
“So what was taken?” Silver asked as Marvin was reading through the large magical tome with a terse frown on his face.
“Looks like some dusty old nonsense,” Chase commented.
Silver, Marvin, and Chase were inside of a small, cramped office at an auction house. Abe was outside getting eye witness testimony for the record.
“Where’dyah[1] get these?” Marvin closed the book and took his leg down from where he’d perched it on his knee.
“A retired police captain in Brighton, we get weird stuff all the time,” the auction house manager answered.
~::~ Five Hours Earlier ~::~
The auction house was bustling with people. Lots of high society people who were willing to pay a fortune for things that looked nice, but that they didn’t actually care about.
It was a charity event that doubled as a suit and tie occasion. It made two of the attendants stick out like sore thumbs. One because he was in a red in-lined black cloak over his black suit that helped him hide various distinctive features, and he physically towered over 99% of the other patrons. And the second was because of the light blue suit and a tuft of blue hair amidst dark, black hair, he was a little bit over half the size of his companion.
People were staring and some of the braver patrons tried to make small talk and they acted pleasant enough during the meet and greet and silent auction portion of the event.
Everything at the party was going well until the actual live auction portion began. Bidding over one particular item became fierce between the distinctive duo and two different collectors.
When the duo were unable to keep raising the bet and subsequently lost, the patron in the blue suit threw down some kind of vial and smoke filled the auction hall. The crowd became a stampede as a pair of blood red eyes glowed from the smoke and there was a flurry of wings before the display case was attacked and in the chaos of smoke and screams the tall patron stole four of the five books. The fifth only being spared when an auction house assistant reflexively tried to pull the case back and the old book flopped onto the ground, bending some of the pages in the process. But in the smoke and the chaos, the assailants managed to blend in with the crowd enough to escape outside where they disappeared with their stolen books.
Police and ambulances were called immediately and Abe arrived on the scene. When traces of magic were found, Abe called in some of the heroes to help.
~::~ Present Time ~::~
“So they must’a[2] known what these things were,” Marvin carefully set the book back on the desk.
“What is it?” Chase leaned closer to get a better look at the book.
Marvin stood up and took the book away, helping an assistant put it back into a protective case. “Dark magic. That book is one ‘a[3] the nastiest I’ve seen in a while. We need ta[4] find the others, people don’t just accidentally steal dark magic books.”
“So like necromancy?” Abe asked.
“Oh no, necromancy is the tip ‘a[3] the dark magic ice berg,” Marvin corrected. “Any mage with their head up their arse[5] can do necromancy.”
“Hmmm,” Chase nodded and hummed, but didn’t offer any other comment than that.
“What?” Marvin gave him the stink eye.
“Nah, nothin’, keep goin’,”[6] Chase insisted.
Marvin glared at him a little bit longer.
“So,” Silver stepped in to distract the conversation, “we know anything?”
Abe didn’t look happy. “One of the individuals was in a black cloak and super tall, another had blue hair and they were acting all nice until they lost the bidding war. Then they used some kind of smoke bomb and then they stole the book.”
“We got any names?” Silver asked.
“Not that anyone could remember after the panic they caused,” Abe sighed. “Fortunately this isn’t the first time we’ve dealt with at least the tall one.”
“Career thief?” Silver asked, they’d dealt with those types of people before, magical or not.
“No, the opposite, in fact,” Abe set his hands on his hips as an officer raced in to give him a thick file. “Oh, thanks.”
“So, a while ago, something like twenty years, I was working on a case to help bust up some cult,” Abe took a deep breath. “The cult went by the name of the Eggpire and they operated just outside of Egoton’s east forest, and usually if the authorities left them alone they left people alone. All they would do was vandalism and just do the whole “end is nigh, accept it” thing on the street corner.”
“What changed?” Marvin asked.
“One person in the cult was a double agent,” Abe reported. “He reported they were abusing the children in the cult and died to help bring the police in. I lost a partner that day. I’d managed to bury the case in the back of my mind until I heard reports of one of the guys who stole these books was described to me.”
“Was he part ‘a[3] the cult?” Chase asked.
“No,” Abe asked firmly and took several pictures out of the folder he had. “He was one of the kids.”
There was one group picture of seven kids, and seven individual head shots of the kids. Five boys, and two girls; all of them had fierce red eyes that almost seemed to glow with unearthly brightness. One of the boys, clearly the eldest but even he looked very young, probably no older than five or six. He was in almost all black clothes with black hair and skin even darker than midnight. The youngest child was a girl who didn’t even look old enough to walk.
“Not really the type of person who blends in with a crowd, is he?” Abe commented.
Jackie looked at the group picture, trying to come up with some kind of joke to lighten the mood, because they desperately needed one. “Did Dark adopt one ‘a ‘em when we had our backs turned?”[7]
“Actually, if I heard my sources correct, he did,” Abe admitted and pointed to the older of the two girls. “Apparently that’s Yan.”
Taking a deep breath, Jackie responded, “I was tryin’ ta lighten the mood.”
“Fook,”[8] Chase cursed. “Geez, when Kay told us their lives were shite b’fore they got ta Dark, he wasn’t jokin’ around.”[9]
“Okay, yeh[10] can give the bastard ‘father ‘a[3] the year’ later,” Marvin spat at Chase, the two glaring at each other for a bit.
“Anyways,” Abe continued. “When the arrests happened all the kids we found were seized by social services and most of them were able to go to extended family, except for Yan who only had family in the cult and had to be put up for adoption. After a while she just disappeared from the system and that must have been when Dark took her under his wing.”
“Seems like it,” Silver agreed, studying the picture still in Jackie’s hand, “can we get a copy of this?”
“Yeah, give me a second,” Abe told him and a copy of the group picture was quickly printed and handed to Silver as the Septics turned their attention back to talking to the manager again.
“We’ve already gotten three threatening calls to turn over the last book,” the manager warned.
“Tell them we have it,” Chase told the manager. “Maybe we can bullshite them fer a little bit, until we figure out what ta do.”[11]
“I’ll do you one even better,” the manager said and put the case right into Chase’s hands. “No book is worth my life, we’ll tell the dude who won the auction that it was damaged or stolen as well or something. The payment wasn’t even finalized.”
“Yeah,” Marvin agreed, reaching for the book before Chase pulled it away.
“Nah, I don’t think so,” Chase pulled it away. “I don’t want yeh to be able ta raise another teenager from the dead.”[12]
“Let that go, Average,” Marvin ordered. “What are yeh e’en gonna do with that thin’?”[13]
“Keep it away from yah[10]?” Chase told him, then turned to the manager. “Can I get some gloves or somethin’[14]?”
“Yeah,” the manager pulled out some gloves for him. Chase took the gloves and quickly popped open the case and leafed through the book a little bit, frowning.
“We need an expert fer this thin’,”[15] Chase decided.
“I am right here,” Marvin reminded, blatantly offended.
“I meant fer[16] the weird symbols in here,” Chase corrected firmly, glaring at him. “I think I saw King working on some ‘a[3] these a while back. So he probably knows what these are.”
“Oh,” Marvin seemed to forgive Chase a little bit.
The heroes left to go and find King, Abe staying at the scene of the crime. However, for once King wasn’t at his park or the base. So their next guess for where he might be was with Dark. Who was a little harder to locate but Marvin began dowsing to find Dark’s aura trail.
The demon was in her red soul form with Yan, which Silver immediately decided that this was a great time to ask Dark where King was and to ask Yan how much she remembered.
It would probably amount to nothing, but it was always worth a shot.
Dark, of course, saw them coming and was waiting patiently with her aura curling around her and Yan.
“Another fight, heroes?” Dark smiled, fingers drumming on the table. They two were outside of some cafe, Dark always perfectly in the shade, Yan smiling in the warm sunlight as it warmed her skin, her sunglasses shielding her eyes.
“We actually wanted to talk to Yan,” Silver told them.
“Me?” Yan asked, pointing to herself, sitting up before Dark held out a hand.
“Whatever questions you have, you can ask it from a distance,” Dark warned.
“Yeah, we can do that,” Silver held up his hands, feet touching the floor. He pulled the copy of the photo he’d gotten from Abe. He held it out for Dark and Yan to see. “Have either of you heard of the Eggpire?”
“Am I supposed to know who a bunch of children are?” Dark asked, her aura plucking the photo from Silver’s hand to examine it closer.
“Yan’s folks were part ‘a[3] them,” Chase told Dark, keeping his hands in his pockets.
Dark went completely still, her echoes screaming and ringing shrill before it deafened and she passed the photo behind her to Yan. Yan looked at the photo in confusion. “I don’t . . .” She looked up at Dark, “I don’t know who anyone in this photo is.”
“Are her birth parents trying to get in contact with her?” Dark asked and Yan had a look of panic on her face, her hand curling into fists into her skirt.
“No,” Silver answered. “We’re just dealing with some of the other kids and we wanted to ask on the off-chance Yan knew something.”
“I don’t know anything!” Yan yelled immediately, a hysterical note to her voice. “I don’t want to talk to them! I don’t want to go with them.”
Chase took a step forward, mouth opening to start trying to calm Yan down, but Dark beat him to it, cocooning her only daughter in aura like a blanket.
“You’re not,” Dark promised, using her aura to dry her eyes. “You’re not going anywhere you don’t want to be.”
Yan snuffled and leaned into Dark’s aura.
Dark turned to the heroes, planning on dismissing the heroes and tossing the offending photo their way.
Chase was quicker.
“Abe was on some case a long time ago,” Chase cut in, taking another step closer. “The feds were busting up some demon cult, the kind that — fer once — worshipped demons. They had some kids that they had ta separate from their folks an’ one ‘a them had ta go inta state care. Probably wouldn’t be good fer these guys ta talk ta Yan again with how they probably treated the kids.”[17]
The Entity nodded “Yes, you understand our reservations, the last time one of Wil’s children were contacted by a family member, Yancy was put in prison.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Chase agreed. Then to the other heroes’ alarm he walked up and showed Dark the book.
“So yeh can’t keep this,” Chase prefaced, taking the book out of the case and flipping to the symbols he had seen while Marvin was reading it.
“Average!” Marvin balked.
Dark tried to take the book but Chase pulled it away, “Nah, I don’t think so.”
The Entity gave him an amused little smile and Chase couldn’t help but mimic the smile a little.
“No,” Chase smiled, “yah[10] don’t get ta[4] keep it.”
“I won’t,” Dark chuckled a little, leaning closer to get a better look at the book.
“Yeah right, like yah’d[18] give up the chance ta[4] get a book like this in yer[19] collection,” Chase couldn’t wipe the grin off his face. He would realize it until much later, when he was back home and replaying the scene in his head that he shouldn’t have been . . . he hadn’t meant to . . . he’d been teasing Dark in front of her own daughter and his teammates. “I’ll be holdin’ onta it.”[20]
Dark ripped the book out of his hand, “You think you’re much more clever than you actually are.”
“Hey,” Chase couldn’t wipe the smile off his face. “Give that back.”
The Entity opened the book to a page or two, ignoring Chase pointedly for a second before actually handing it back to him. “Do everyone a favor and burn it.”
“Is it that bad?” Chase chuckled.
“I have no use for the senseless ramblings of a bunch of children, and I’ve certainly seen worse,” Dark told him.
“Yeah, well we’re lookin’ fer King so we can get it translated,”[21] Chase told her.
“Oh, yes, I saw him and Lunky earlier,” Dark began to explain, her hand already moving to open up a portal before she startled and threw her aura in front of Chase as a crossbow bolt would have hit Chase directly in the chest but Dark protected him.
Down the street there were the two thieves, the dark one in the cloak and another in a blue hoodie with his blue tuft of hair. The blue one had a crossbow and was pointing it at Chase.
“We’re going to need that book,” the blue one ordered, a steely look in his eyes.”
