Daily MCO Drink #628: BITTER IN BRAZIL, made with 45ml Yaguara Branca Cachaça, 22.5ml Cointreau, 22.5ml Eiling Lim Private Selection “Shun” Single Cask sweet vermouth from La Cuesta, 1 barspoon simple syrup, 1 barspoon Fernet Branca, stirred over ice and strained over fresh ice block from @isipadu_icecompany. I haven’t had many cachaça drinks I didn’t like, and this one is another winner for me. Daily MCO Drink #536, MCO Day #538: CACHAÇA MARTINI, made with 60ml Yaguara Ouro aged cachaça , 10ml Dolin Dry vermouth, stirred over ice and strained. Today is the Independence Day of Brazil, and 13 September is National Cachaça Day, so I decided, what the heck, let’s open this lovely bottle of aged cachaça . I’ve been told this particular Ouro makes a great Martini, so I was curious to try it. Cachaça has been one of my favourite go-to spirits lately, and this aged version is just yummy – all the sugarcane sweetness of a good cachaça, and mellow elegance at the same time. Daily MCO Drink #511, MCO Day #513: PINGA CON MEL, made with 35ml Yaguara Bianca Cachaça, 15ml lime juice, 10ml honey syrup, shaken over ice and strained into a shotglass. Yay shots! This cachaça shot is popular in Brazil, and that cachaça + lime combo is already familiar in the caipirinha. Daily MCO Drink #432, MCO Day #434: CANEFLOWER, made with 2 parts Yaguara Branca Cachaca, 1 part Aperol, 1/2 part Giffard Elderflower Liqueur, stirred over ice and strained. Adapted from a recipe by Jeffrey Morgenthaler, this is a lovely cocktail in terms of both appearance and taste. The cane sweetness of the cachaça os drawn out beautifully by the Aperol’s bitter herbal notes, and the elderflower adds a floral note that just makes the whole thing bloom like a flower. Lovely. Daily MCO Drink #126, MCO Day #127: SEX ON THE BEACH, made with 1 part Snow Leopard Vodka, 1 part Yaguara Branca Cachaça, 1.5 parts orange juice, 1.5 parts cranberry juice, 1/2 part Joseph Cartron Peach liqueur, shaken with ice and strained over fresh ice. . More like Sex on a Brazilian Beach, tbh, cos I decided to add a shot of cachaça in there instead of following the original recipe which is only vodka. . And what do you know, it actually works pretty well.
