It’s such a magnificent image which perfectly reflects the story within its pages. This book is a Afrofuturistic YA set in a dystopian New York that has been ravaged by climate change. The rich get to live Up High and continue to thrive while those left on the ground have to fight to survive. Working extremely hard to perhaps one day have the opportunity to join them for a better way of life. This is a powerful read that weaves important issues so relevant in society today into its fantasy coming of age story. Climate change, class issues, racism, drug use and poverty are just some of the hard hitting subject matters. As the protagonists discover they have emerging extra-ordinary powers it makes them question why and how best they should use them. They discover more about their ancestral past in the hope it will empower them to fight for their futures. ✨March Wrap Up✨ QOTD: how was your reading month? How are you? ✨Please remember, you are loved by someone and that if you’re going through a hard time, you can lean on them. Even if you don’t normally do that. They’re there. Sometimes you need to ask them to just listen or distract, sometimes you don’t. But either way, you’re loved and cared for. Every situation you face, can help make you a stronger person. Unfortunately, it’s not always pleasant situations. So, if you’re having a hard time, you’re swamped with a million things. When you have some time (or make some time) light your favorite candle, wax melts, turn on your essential oil machine. Your favorite song or in silence. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and another deep breath (let them go. 😂). You will take your next step when you are ready or when you know you need to, but taking it one at a time, it may be hard, but it is definitely possible.✨ ✨ On a lighter note, I definitely have this color them going on and I had no clue! 😂 Y’all, my love for the hunger games, omg! 😭 I forgot it. Like I always remembered I loved it, but reading it again. It’s blossomed anew. 😂 Queen of Shadows!!!! Omg sooo much better than Heir of Fire. In QoS we see Celaena/Aelin being the total bad boss babe she is and I loooooove it! A Torch Against the Night!!!! Ahhh yess. I haven’t finished it yet and I hope my finishing doesn’t change my thoughts but I’m halfway through, I plan on finishing it today, and I just yesss. 👏🏼 Laia is growing I love it! Elias is growing as a person too, yay! Helene, I’m not sure if she is necessarily growing but we are seeing her side so I don’t hate her as much! I’m really loving this book so far.
