Why I was banned from r/curatedtumblr: a very belated explanation/apology post

Before migrating here from Reddit, I used to be a regular participant in r/tumblr as a commenter, then r/curatedtumblr when r/tumblr became unusably bloated with repost bots, and the useless mods did nothing because Reddit's leadership system is dumb and broken. Hence the name, curated tumblr; an r/tumblr replacement that was actually moderated. All of the regulars, including me, migrated there, and now r/tumblr is like 90% karma-farming bots endlessly upvoting each other, presumably so the accounts can later be sold for advertising or political astroturfing purposes. Happens all the time.

I explain this because it's important to understand that a) I was a part of the community for quite a while, and b) r/curatedtumblr was heavily moderated, so as to avoid the mistakes of its predecessor. Fine and dandy.

I was a high schooler at the time, terminally online and working a shitty fast food job to save up for the PC I'm typing this on. Thus, I'd spend the days endlessly interacting with the people on r/curatedtumblr, and the evenings working at a Taco Bell, unable to use my phone until breaktime.

One day, I forget the exact context, but the subject of r/FDS came up, which for those of you who are unaware is a hive of femcels. Named as an acronym for Female Dating Strategy, the sub was infamously sexist towards men, going on about things like "high/low value males" and how men below 6' were inhuman scum and basically doing everything incels do but with the gender roles flipped. And just like incels, everyone there was unaware the real reason The sub featured a nauseating glittery pink colour scheme a la Claire's, and everybody there talked like a popular high school girl in a Nickelodeon movie, all "yaaaaaass queen" "you go girl!" and shit like that.

So this sub comes up, and if memory serves we were shitting on it, or at least I was? Again, the context has been lost to memory, and since the sitewide search tools you used to be able to use to find multiple year old comments have all kicked the bucket, and the Reddit UI for finding old content is stupid and requires you to trudge through the entire histroy of a user chronologically until you find what you're looking for with no option to jump to the desired time period, I'm probably never going to be able to find it. I was making fun of the kind of shit they said on that sub, and I said something like "yass kween dump his low-value ass he only makes 800k a year ur worth more gurl," and then went to work.

Now, I didn't know it at the time, but as I worked, somebody saw the comment and thought I was mocking AAVE. They accused me of being a "4 Chan Nazi." Things kind of snowballed from there. Now, and this is embarassing and I've been hesitant to admit to it, but I'm here to explain and apologize, so:

when I was in high school, I did not know what AAVE meant.

I took offense to being accused of being a Nazi, and I forget what my reply was, but it was snarky towards the accuser, which made me look like a POS. Since I did not know what AAVE was, I did not refute the claim that I was making fun of it, and this made me look really, really bad to anybody who did.

I was then banned for this alleged racism. I looked up what AAVE was, realized I totally did look like a racist in that situation, but rather than fight the allegations, me, being an anxious teenager, instead eternally procrastinated on doing so, afraid of further anger directed at me.

It was a dumb choice to make, because now I'm afraid anybody on here from r/curatedtumblr who remembers those days might still think of me as "that guy who turned racist out of nowhere and then ran off." It's been eating at me for years, so I've decided it's time to rip the bandaid off and finally clear the air. I should have done this a very long time ago.

tl;dr, I made a string of bad decisions that made me look like a racist piece of shit. I could have easily undid this by immediately explaining the situation, but being an anxious, then-internet-inexperienced kid at the time, the sudden social rejection scared me, and I hid from the problem.

I'm sorry. It was a bad move. I never intended to mock AAVE, nor appear as if I was doing so. It's a valid English dialect, it's culturally important, and I respect it and those who speak in it. I apologize to anybody I may have offended by accidentally appearing to imply otherwise.

I hope anybody from those days who still remembers me can find it in their hearts to forgive me. Or they can choose not to, as is their right. I'm not here to beg for forgiveness, I'm here to finally explain things and put them to rest. This is what happened, I am sorry, and I hope you also see it as a poorly-handled misunderstanding and nothing more. I just needed to finally move on from this.

Taeyoung: Deep down inside he loves your innocence and playfulness, but he’d have to get used to it, which would make him seem cold and irritated. He might soften on the inside, but it would take a long time before you actually saw it, so cherish it when you do. Most of the time he’d be glaring at you and being rough. 

“Glares You know I only play rough, kitten, I’ll destroy you. You can barely handle my light punishments and yet you want to play around with me? How brave. I don’t mind you dancing for me but, if you break anything, I’ll bend you over my knee and spank you- nothing in this house is cheap. Yuta: He loves it a little too much. Your energy instantly cheers him up and makes him forget his troubles but he’s still sick, though, so he’d also want to destroy you- it’s like has cute aggression or something. Most of the time, though, he’s right there with you, laughing, dancing, being silly and playful, but, on occasion, he’d switch from being funny and adorable to dominating and demanding, really quick. Remember, he’s a bit sadistic, so he’ll definitely love ruining you in the best ways as he sees this side of you as teasing at times.

Jungwoo: You know this ball of yandere floof will be right there with you acting silly. So much so that he’ll most definitely get himself hurt and, if you wanna score major brownie points, you’ll bandage him up and give him cuddles to make him feel better, uwu. Taeil: He’s a quiet and calm yandere, so he’ll just watch you have fun but will whole heartedly enjoy every moment of it. Just don’t get hurt or he’ll become more controlling like Doyoung. He’s also an old soul that needs to conserve his energy but, shockingly, has a lot.

“Wow, you’ve got ton of energy. That’s the benefit of being so young pout. Ah, don’t worry. You’re so cute, y/n. Having fun? You must be thirsty after all that dancing and playing, huh? Let’s take a nap afterwards cuzz you look sleepy. Drink your water and then we’ll go have a nap, ok? Also, try to be more careful. I know you haven’t hurt yourself yet, but I worry sometimes. Can’t have you getting yourself hurt.” 

Ten: Sometimes he’ll engage with you in laughing, dancing, singing, whatever else you’ve come up with but, sometimes, he’ll get tired out and want some peace and quiet. 

“Goodness, you remind me of Yangyang from time to time- I hate it and love it sometimes. Of course, I love it because it’s you, but damn, chill out for a bit, y/n. Rest for a while and then we’ll play my way. Playfully squeezes your butt It’ll be my turn to tire you out and have you begging for a break. Rest well, cuzz you’ll need it.”

Jeno: Will go along with it and manage to outlast you. You’d be pooped out and he’d still try to play with you, but it’ll get darker and darker until you become worried. He’s got a thing for having you pushed past your limits, being exhausted and at his mercy. Even so, you can tell he’s holding back something. He always is. 

“Oh, you’re tired already? It’s only been two hours, though. Let’s play some more, I’m actually enjoying this. I said let’s keep playing, y/n. Actually, lay there, I’ll take it from here. He’s still learning his strength, though, so he might become a little too rough with you.

Jaemin: He’d go from 100 to 0 and back so fast. One minute he’s being just as energetic, even chaotic, and the next, he’s just chillin as you jump around the house like a crazy jellybean. He’d watch you the entire time, though, taking pictures and recording you for when he can’t be at home. 

“Don’t stop, babe. You look amazing, keep going. Yaaaaaass, perfect! Pose for me! moves from position to position trying to capture you from every angle. Ahh, so lovely. Let’s take some together and have a dance battle afterward! I’ll show you some moves I learned the other day; I know you’ll look amazing doing them!

Renjun: Doesn’t mind at all. He’ll go along with whatever it is that you do but will definitely shut it down once he’s gotten tired and wants to do something else. Best to just go along with his wishes and see what else you’ll end up doing. Most of the time it’s something like video games or watching a movie/youtube/anime/etc. while eating delicious food. 

“Alright, I’m hungry. Let’s watch something and order in. What would you like to eat? Cool, I’ll have sushi, it’s been a while since I’ve had it. No, you can’t order the food. Don’t think I’ve forgotten the little stunt you pulled. I don’t care how long ago that was, you’re not talking to anyone else. Deal with it, y/n, or you’ll spend the night in the closet.”

Chenle: Being the type of yandere to not typically have lots of energy means he’s less likely to partake in your games. He’s mostly a serious yandere and he becomes more and more so as time goes on. Though, this doesn’t mean that he’ll shut you down every single time because he understands that this is your thing. When it becomes too much, he’ll just ignore you until you get bored.

“Hm, you’ve calmed down now, huh? It’s about time. I was starting to think that I’d have to drag you over here and hold you down for a while. You’d probably try to make me chase you, though, and I’m honestly not in the mood for all that. Wanna play video games? That’s something we’d both enjoy doing and it isn’t so chaotic.”

Lucas: He’d love the wrestle around with you and you always end up pinned in the most suggestive positions ever. If you’re feisty and don’t give in easily, this’ll be all the more fun for this yandere. He’s sadistic, so he’ll hurt you on purpose just to hear your beautiful whimpers and pleas. So, long as you’re playing in this aspect, he’d never hurt you too bad that’ll cause long lasting pain, but you’ll definitely end up with bruises and marks all over your body. 

“Haha, you really think you can get out of this, y/n? I’ve got you in a lock that’d allow me to pop your shoulder right out of its socket if I really wanted to. Be thankful that you’ve been a good girl recently or else this would hurt even more. Hendery: He watches you and enjoys the view from where he’s sat. He’ll join you sometimes but, other times, he’ll just kick back and relax while watching you entertain yourself. He doesn’t always enjoy inflicting pain upon you, sometimes he’s perfectly content with watching you do your own thing, so long as it doesn’t go against any of his many rules.

Xiaojun: He’s also not for games but he does understand that you have to have moments like this to prevent yourself from slipping into insanity. Seeing you like this reminds him of how you were before he took you, when you were full of life and happiness. It’ll frustrate him if he isn’t a part of it somehow, though, so make sure to include him if you want to continue your fun. Also doesn’t like inflicting pain 24/7, especially not to you. 

“Why don’t you come over here and dance with me? Sure, I know how to dance. I know how to sing as well. Maybe if I’m pleased enough by the end of this, I’ll sing a song for you. Winwin: He’ll laugh and smile at your playfulness and energetic personality. This is one of the many things that led to him falling in love with you and he’d be over the moon if you two had playful tickle wars, so long as you’re the one being tickled- he doesn’t like it too much but won’t complain too much cuzz, well, you’re willingly and happily touching him. He feels so lucky!

Yangyang: Ok, playing around with this yandere will get crazy. He’s wild and savage with a lot of energy himself, so he’d have no mercy when it comes to games, no matter what it is- which he always wins, might I add. He’ll out-dance you easily and poke fun at you for not doing it right, but he’d love to teach you everything he knows. 

“You look silly doing it that way, hahaha! Ok, look, it’s like this, see? Easy. Well, I’ve had more practice, but we’ll work on getting you up to speed. You’ll never be as good as me, though, but you’ll still look amazing. You catch him off guard with “tag you’re it,”. He just catches you with one hand and pulls you back to him Too slow, y/n, that’s how I was able to catch you the very first time. Let’s try that again, but this time, I’ll give you a five second head start.”

Kun: He’d watch you with amusement as you dance around the house. He wouldn’t join you, but he’ll let you do your thing since he considers this a better alternative to you being locked up and unable to move freely. Just don’t break anything in the house or you will be locked up for it. As far as being playful, he’ll be annoyed at first but then quickly melt at the pleasant attention he’s getting from you of your own free will and he’ll reciprocate it if he’s in the mood. If not, stop.

“You like the playlist I made for you? I comprised it of all your favorite songs. Now, I don’t mind you dancing around or anything, but keep in mind that, if you break anything, you’ll be punished for it after you’re done cleaning it up. I can’t play right now, I’m busy making dinner. Maybe after we eat, we can, but we’ll see. Until then, stay out of the kitchen- I’m almost done. 

Shotaro: He would be shy about engaging with you in dancing around the house and playing. He’d play along with you, though, but don’t be surprised if he then instead fixates on you and watches you the whole time, practically drooling. He’s a young baby yandere.

“Y/n-ah, you’re so pretty! Y-you want me to dance with you? He begins dancing but stops as soon as you start, getting distracted uhh…huh? Oh! Sure, we can play..depending on what you want to play, though. Nothing that include you going outside, just remember that. Sungchan: He’ll pretend to be cool and unaffected by your behavior but, deep down inside, he’d want nothing more than to pull you close to him and dance against you/with you. Being playful wouldn’t help either. He’d desperately want to get all cutesy and cuddly with you, but he’d settle on playing more adult games to prove himself in a way. He’s also a young baby yandere and he doesn’t want you underestimating him, thinking that he needs your love and affection. Give him time.

Good things (amidst the bad)

I had a good day at the island school!

Favorite kid spent his usual 45 min before school BOUNDING into my room to talk to me

Favorite kid and other talented artist begged to do lunch in the art room to continue working in their oil pastel paintings. I finally relented and let favorite kid play the piano in the room and he played some fucking BANGER jazz tunes for me. He’s a bit of a piano. It was so relaxing and great.

I let one of my tougher non neurotypical kids nerd out about standee valley to me on my planning and it made him really happy. He and I have come a long way. He can still be a jerk sometimes, but he’s really trying to be more polite and considerate to me this year. We have some great conversations about video games and it was nice to see him beaming and explain what he’d learned about the games.

Fourth grade (who can sometimes be assholes) was fucking rock solid, all super engaged in their MATH CROSS CURRICULAR mandalas when IN WALKED THE SUPERINTENDENT yaaaaaass!

Kinder and first rocked their first experience with model magic.

Mike is on a work schedule at the newspaper that is basically 2 am - 2pm and it’s bullshit. To hurting him and wrecking him physically and it makes me so mad they haven’t solved this issue for when carriers up and quit without notice, because this is not his fucking job. He tries so hard. But 5 hours of sleep a night and intermittent naps is gonna leave him sick.

The newspaper bullshit is also wrecking my sleep schedule.

The guidance counselor asked to use some of my time to do an anti bullying craft and story with 2nd. The kids need to hear it but oh my god it was so below their level and boring compared to what we usually do. They legit glued labeled print out parts to a paper bag and i was a good coworker and helped with it, but I could tell my kids were quietly like “???¿¿ why? This? When is Real Art Time?”

I need to do my budget for next year faaaak

I would like my dad to call me/reach out to me more lately and he hasn’t. Sigh.

1, 2, 3... awwww! Mc & Lisse really love to hold each other's hands. It's one of the sweetest things that we often squeal about in this fandom but knowing our otp's innermost feeling towards the deed definitely spells a different level of euphoria. Yes, friends. It's better to know the depth of the most meaningful gestures in the world instead of just enjoying what we simply see on the surface. They hold hands not just for the sake of skinship or giving the press a good material and a reason to hit the shutter. They hold hands because it gives them a sense of security, comfort and courage-- courage to face the world and do anything as long as they're together.  O-kay, this revelation deserves another “awwww” reaction!

2. “Kaya po nila yakapin ang mundo nang hindi pumupunta sa outerspace”

Gone are the days when we were all about bitin hugs and awkward to-hug-or-not-to-hug situations.  Now, we get to feel the embrace of the sweetest reality eveytime McCoy and Elisse wrap their arms around each other. The OPM song says, “You hug me like I'm the one who's precious, I hate to break it to you but it's just the other way around...” It's easier to agree with Rico Blanco than to blame him. They say, the world needs love but sometimes, we fail to realize that “Love” also needs “a world” where it could stay for good. You're lucky if you have met “that world” where your love has chosen to live permanently. Right, McLisse?

3. “Kaya po nila mandamay sa kilig habang kinilkilig sila sa isa't-isa”

This is the kind of trouble that won't really make you ask the question “Bakit nandamay ka pa?” even once. McLisse always puts us in deep trouble everytime they're on the hotseat. Saan kami pupulutin after all these kilig feels? McCoy and Elisse have their own way of making people happy without being aware of it. They're naturally happy whenever they're together and that certain kind of happiness exposes more of their genuine feelings and honest thoughts which make us feel kilig without prior notice.

4. “Kaya po nila mag-breakout nang hindi tumatakas”

Congratulations McLisse for winning PEP's Male Breakout Star of the year and Female Breakout Star of the year! The fanmily's hardwork paid off once again. Bongga. PAWERRRRR! The effort of the whole fandom truly helped the awards find their way home. They have found home in McCoy and Elisse's hands and just like what real parents would do, they would surely take care of them and see them as inspiration in the long run. McCoy and Elisse deserve this recognition more than anyone else. Their achievements and unexpected success have a lot more to say than the haters, so, just ignore their drama. They are called “Breakout stars” because they have a potential-- a potential to create more breakthroughs and make more award-winning performances in the future. Labaaaan!

Pennywise is running out of Red balloons. Yaaaaaass.

McCoy cooked something special for us and for his partner once again! IT was fearless. IT was unexpected. IT was sweet. He went out of his way again to  prove that we won't have to wait for another Twenty-Seven years in order to see another surprise coming from him. This time, he did it one by one, step by step. The “Red balloon series” woke our senses up and got us since the very first balloon. I. ALWAYS. GOT. YOU. 

McCoy's really good at this! What's with September that makes McCoy pull out lovely surprises? Fall in love with McLisse, you'll float too.

We're not just talking about revelations here but more on the development or status of their relationship. The coolest part here, is not the answer but the little things they do that leave us with something bigger than the word “YES.” 

You know, Elisse have killed us again when she answered “LabLab” as their label if the world would require one. WE'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW THE ANSWER BECAUSE IT WAS JUST FOR TITO BOY BUT ELISSE DIDN'T EVEN WHISPER IT TO HIM MR. NO RIGHT!?? OTP JUST KILLED US. It's really the little things McLisse, it's really the little things.

There are questions that you don't really have to ask because some are too generous in giving the answers right away. They may not be in the form of words but they're still considered as “answers”. There are also answers that don't really have to be given out just to address every questions asked. We just have to be open-minded that our chosen OTP is part of an industry where the answers see no time. What we don't know is that, it has always been there, it's already there and it will always be there. *wink!

The (very troublesome) unification of Vere/Akielos

@exy-king @time-limit what is politics LOL,,, Im just going to answer this relatively paragraph by paragraph to keep it simple and I’ll also point out im not familiar with Australian history so if anything I say clashes then my bad lol

Delpha would definitely have to go under independent rule for several main reasons: 

Like you said, Vere and Akielos need to compromise and hold Delpha equally so there isn’t an underlying power struggle of “well THIS country has more land” blah blah blah 

Delpha is an area that has already dealt with forced intermixing (if im remembering correctly) So the people of Delpha would probably accede to the idea of independence rather than secede back and forth between the two countries. 

^^This means the people of Delpha appreciate their King’s independence which leads to one less civil war having to be worried about

I see Delpha as the beginning of city-states in Akielos and Vere especially if it will still be under rule of the King’s just advised by a council

(^^Nikandros will probably be put in charge of this council. Not only would it make sense because he is definitely one of the more higher ranked men in the kingdom, has served at Kingsmeet and as a Kyroi, and showed substantial loyalty to the King of Akielos it is the only fair political move that I can see being made for Nikandros? Like, yes Nikandros loves Damen but realistically after all the bullshit he was put through to have someone else be given that power.....BIG YIKES. Because we gotta remember Nikandros is a born bred noble/politician, loyalty to a king can really only be pushed so far)

The more public intermixing of cultures would be very healthy for other areas of the two countries to see, plus the fact that Delpha is a more wealthy land would show strong trade and power. With the right address, Laurent/Damen could make it seem like Delpha is so powerful because the kingdoms/people are combined

Avoiding Mutiny 101

Laurent and Damen would both have to immediately address the insurrection of both The Regent and Kastor:

The Regent: Pretty simple honestly? He has done a lot of damage but many veretian (and akielon) soldiers/nobles and the council witnessed the evidence against The Regent’s betrayal. Laurent would just have to have it written in the books (history/veretian newsletter??) What happened and the evidence behind it. Once it is made absolutely public that The Regent is the reason King Aleron died, and his mutiny against Crown Prince Laurent, like almost anything he has said will be put to deep shame along with anyone who still agrees to it. “Did you hear prince Laurent did this-” “That’s just what The Regent wanted us to believe. He also said Akielos was the cause of our King’s Death.” So now not only is Laurent in the clear (for the most part, it will always be a gradual step-by-step) but Akielos is no longer being held responsible for the death of their king. So basically what Laurent is gonna need to do is exactly what The Regent was gonna do to Laurent: shit talk the fuck out of him. (Honestly?? Yaaaaaass) 

Kastor: A lot of people are gonna be like “damen would never crap-talk his brother bc Kastor was family!!” like....thats great and true and all but politically that’s not going to work in Damen’s favor and knowing Laurent he is gonna wanna get this done asap. It will need to be made public that Kastor attempted to kill Damen (The originally plan seemed to be: Damen is framed for Laurent’s murder (if he doesn’t actually attempt to kill the surly fucker), and is then put on trial and killed for treason). That’s definitely murder/treason by proxy. More people sway to Damen side, let everyone know he killed King Theomedes (who everyone seemed to respect) and Kastor’s supporters diminish by quite a bit. 

Running a country is all about keeping the lower/working class people in a desired group mindset and you usually do that by having a hero, a victim, and a villian (having the reg ppl be the victims earns brownie points)

In the beginning both countries are going to to have people who dislike their own rulers, and then have the other monarch to top it off. So while the real work is slowly getting done, the first few months would have to be complete slander towards those who opposed Laurent/Damen (think of an Ad Hominem type of politics) 

Delpha flourishes and Marlas...gains a Palace??

First of all...........idk WHERE the money comes from so i’m just going to assume that both Akielos and Vere have no money issues whatsoever (im SHOOK,,Vere literally just lost a war and land like 6 years ago so???????)

YES Laurent and Damen are canonly building a palace in Marlas (see: The Summer Palace). I’m gonna shoot for the stars and say that it will be similar to what King Louis XIII did when he built Versailles (WHICH WAS VERY EXPENSIVE so that’s why I’m confused because it seemed that maybe a year at most had went by and Damen/Laurent were already building a new palace that would have to include both Veretian and Akielan style/aesthetic, I can’t imagine that being cheap and so I assume the people if Vere/Akielos could become angry at this. Seeing new Kings, one of them you probs dont trust, spend a bunch on a palace?? YIKES) BUT, it has been done before in history.

Already having the funds to build it

Using the building of the Marlas Palace to have artists/architects from Akielos and Vere work together

It creates jobs for the people!

The Palace is a good idea dont get me wrong. Mixing architecture, having a Palace in the middle of the two countries, and showing off both countries wealth is great for morale......But to do it within a year of power? *long whistle*

But hey i guess if Delpha is working out and they use most of the economic stability being granted from that city-state? Not to shabby

King’s Rising? No! Emperor's Rising!!

If you look at European geography, countries with monarchies are SMALL! The more bigger countries that had monarchies didn’t even really carry that title (Austrian-Hungary Empire)

Akielos and Vere uniting would make WAY to large a country to run, two King’s or not it would be way to overwhelming in a country where the people still didn’t totally get along. 

It’s difficult bc unfortunatley iphones dont exist, and, imagine an enemy country having their troops fight a war on opposite ends of Vere and Akielos: communication is going to be so important and having a messenger travel back and forth like 500-1000 miles for news?? Lmao thats hilarious

Fast communication is essential during war. Its a main reason why the first form a telecommunication was created (see: American Civil War Morse code telegraphs)

Vere/Akielos would def need to become an empire. 

I can see this working best by removing a monarchy and switching to an empire form of ruling while then creating city-states (This is how The Roman Empire and Ancient Greece worked--lots of city states--but Laurent/Damen would have to make it work under one rule.

Money is definitely the first thing to address. It is what makes the world go round fam. Its why servants work. Its why Akielos had slaves: to save money

again if slavery was abolished than Akielos just lost a lot of money and therefore where did Palace money come from? Delpha? A large loan they took from banks? did they tell their people they took that loan? If the palace starts a deficit Laurent/Damen are fucked

Training soldiers together is a great way to intermix the people. I think building multiple training grounds across Akielos/Vere and forcing the soldiers to interact and work together. 

What’s really good for an economy, forces soldiers to fight for each other, and also could destroy nasty internal nationalism? A WAR!!

Laurent and Damen are gonna have to pick fights with other countries outside Patras/Vask (and do this after they stabilize alliances with Patras/Vask

Let me tell you about M.A.I.N.

To unite their people and start and win a war they will need to:

Glorify the military as a way to draft more soldiers (Akielos already seems to have a glorified military so wee)

Showcase Alliances: “Vere and Akielos will protect each other!” “Our alliances with Patras/Vask are stronger bc of Vere/Akielos uniting!” Obligation to fight if allied nation does, shit like that

Imperialism: steal land for trade?? idk this one isnt that important unless you can think of how it can be useful

Nationalism!!: THIS IS A BIG DEAL!!! Nationalism is and always will be a current issue. Nationalism and Religion are the two main big reasons a war happens. Vere/Akielos both suffer from obvious nationalism. (Please keep in mind that Nationalism in M.A.I.N. is not friendly competition. Its a very unhealthy and intense devotion to a country and leads to xenophobia). By having a war, Vere/Akielos can be like “Look at this other country we are fighting. We are much better than that stupid, pathetic, country. Let’s unite and fight and take!! (there’s the imperialism!). 

Language of the people!

this is some shit that won’t be fixed immediately 

Veretian and Akielon will both have to be taught (do they have schools?? im pissy again) 

People will have to learn the languages in their own way. 

If soldiers are forced to intermingle and fight together it will quicken the learning

The common people will be the reason new phrases and words will combine and a new language will be created

If the kingdom/empire tries to prioritze a language it will piss a lot of people off (cause nationalism) so common people mixing the language into creating an entire new one for the united country is the main way I could see this working out

Marriage and Heirs!

I know you said this was a whole other bag of cats but its a VERY IMPORTANT bag of cats

Uniting in marriage is a very common way of uniting/creating alliances. 

It doesn’t always bring the people together BUT if the marriage works and the politics move swimmingly and the heir becomes beloved (in our world, if it was a male heir it was like FUUUUUCKK YAAAASS QUEEN) it can create a really strong bond!

If you have an heir

Smudge that idea away all you want it is the main reason for marriage alliances. 

Im not kidding if the couple didn’t produce an heir the alliance could collapse 

i can’t stress this enough like not just politically this was/is a HUGE deal to the common people too

So Damen and Laurent get married. Now they have united their kingdom through marriage, yay! Step one complete

Now they need an heir. 

NOT JUST ANY HEIR

The point is to mix Country A and Country B

so let’s look at it this way:

Damen has an heir. It can be from Jokaste or a Vaskian woman doesn’t matter 

It has to be Damen. Maybe Akielos won’t care who the mother is bc that’s their culture but we need to worry about Vere’s culture too now. 

If Damen chooses an heir that’s Akielon or a Vaskian, it will probably be more of an insult to the Veretian people if anything. 

There’s...no Veretian bloodline...where is Vere’s stability?? 

This means, going by history that if Damen doesn’t have an heir that’s half Veretian........the marriage is honestly kind of moot 

Damen will have to eventually have a child with a Veretian woman (noble, most likely). That doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll have to marry her. I think They could get around that by claiming the baby as “not a bastard bc the mother is a surrogate” 

BUT YEAH heirs are super important so that’s honestly how I see it needing to go

YEP its long sorry about that. My main knowledge of history is Ancient Greek/Roman and French history (Which was before i read capri believe it or not) so that’s what this stuff is heavily based on along with other histories too of course.
