anyway do y’all ever experience it where like... your only experience with certain bad takes or fandom drama is people making posts complaining about them?

like,, I haven’t really seen anyone complain about the writer’s strike affecting their shows, but I have seen like a billion posts calling out people who do that.

I’ve never seen someone complain about filler episodes for TV shows, but I do see claims that these fun-hating people exist.

idk, I find it interesting how sometimes your only exposure to a certain type of discourse can actually just be discourse on the discourse. and I also sometimes wonder if it’s not just Make Up a Guy and Get Mad at Him disease.

AuDHD is so funny sometimes like what do you mean my hyperfixations/special interests will last for years on end or possibly forever but they will cycle out every month or two with absolutely no transitional period or warning. like i will think about the same topic every day obsessively for 46 days in a row and on the 47th day with no visible cause adhd brain goes "ok! bored of that now" and autism brain goes "dw i got something queued up for ya" and i blast into full blown obsession on some other topic whose mental file folders haven't opened in 9 months. brain's out here treating hyperfixations like a crop rotation. once the dopamine runs out it cycles in another one but once something's in the rotation it never ever leaves. last summer we brought in one from when i was 11. it's so funny to me but frustrating too bc like. i cannot stress enough my inability to predict or control this. or how completely abrupt and random it can be

I like sheogorath. I think the daedra are an interesting concept and especially there being a god of madness and insanity, in all forms not just the mania that is typically associated with the words. What I don't like are the people who are REALLY into him. It just... it feels like they've never interacted with an insane person. It really really does. And it makes me hugely uncomfortable. The same with Cicero super fans. It feels like they're being reduced to these uwu caricatures of mentwal iwwness. Which, duh, they are poorly written fictional characters in a hugely successful video game franchise. But it still just makes me uncomfortable knowing that these people would not keep this energy if they interacted with someone like this in real life. Not that that energy would be wanted. It's pretty extreme.

I, of course, could be wrong. And this isn't directed at my fellow autists who're fixated on the games. More just some of the posts that give a weird energy which I know definitely could be imagined to some degree.

As much as i love Dungeon Meshi, i do think that given Ryoko Kui's attention to realistic worldbuilding there ought to be a companion series called Dishes Meshi where they spend 2hrs washing and drying and packing away. Alll the goddamnfuck dishes they just made

Can I just say, I really appreciate how Critical Role plays the Devil trope straight. There's been this phenomena in a lot of modern media (I'm not going to mention specifics but I'm sure a few examples pop up in people's minds) where Hell and the Devil aren't scary or malevolent forces. Hell is portrayed as being basically the same as our world just "edgier", and the Devil is a pretty decent guy actually. Heaven are secretly the real bad guys!

But Critical Role doesn't do that. In Exandria, Asmodeus *feels* like the Devil. He's malevolent and manipulative and terrifyingly powerful and he hates you, personally. We never see that type of portrayal anymore! And it's amazing! And he still manages to be sympathetic and tragic without losing his edge!

And the "Good Gods" are portrayed as flawed without being secretly evil or something! Like, actual nuance? In my Heaven/Hell dichotomy? What!?

It's just such a breath of fresh air after so many "The Devil was right, actually" stories. So props to Matt and Brennan and the cast.
