Mina’s role is his little sister, if he knows about yuta jr then obviously that’s his son but idk why he kidnapped y/n? did he grow some sick obsession too? or does he think she’s the answer to his mommy and daddy issues? also what about the other girls? what was the point? were they not playing their roles right so he went after the real thing? 1/2

but knowing that yuta jr exists scares me😭 also makes me suspect kun bc wouldn’t that mean he delivered the baby? he said yuta’s baby momma was one of his first patients so he would know about the birth but why didn’t he mention that? unless he’s helping the mom keep the baby a secret. but again why even mention it to begin?

The Devil Judge: Episode 10

I just finished The Devil Judge and something about this show compelled me to take copious notes - it had emotional intensity and layers of mystery. These are long and rambling, so they're likely not of interest to anyone else, but since I spent all that time writing it I decided, why not post it. Perhaps someone will find it interesting.

Below are my moment-to-moment reactions, predictions and analysis as I watched episode 10.

This is cleaned up only slightly. I followed the spelling given in the Viki subtitles. I mostly don't explain what I'm reacting to, so this will probably only make sense if you've seen the episode recently. Occasionally I give timestamps.

Have I mentioned how much I love Seon-Ah’'s theme music?  red dress, red necklace (drops of blood around the neck that Y choked)

I feel like it's not just Cha and Seon-ah's clothes? there is more and more red being sprinkled in everywhere?  that bamboo spear guy's shirt, these chairs in the president's office. or maybe i just didn't notice it before

Ga-On planned this whole tactic,  I wonder what it's going to be?  I assume he's the one who decided to isolate the bamboo spear guy from his followers, from anyone he can whip up. and calling him by the name he hates. seems like a good strategy with a wannabe demagogue 

I mean, the thing about this sort of fascist in real life, is they're never talking to the court, they're talking to their followers, they’re painting themselves as persecuted as part of a conspiracy.  and this dude is in fact being persecuted as part of a conspiracy. I think in real life this would be the worst mistake - give him a national platform.  because to everyone else he sounds ridiculous and evil, but to his followers and those that could be radicalized, they're going to be whipped up.

oh well actually... both Ga-On and the show may be cleverer than i expected... Yes! fucking defang the fasicist!

1:02:00 and yet again, Ga-On asks the question on my mind.  I'm starting to trust this show on the political issues?  At least a little?  maybe i've been stockholmed*  Or maybe now that they're not trying to keep judge kang so mysterious, they're freer to be more coherent about the politics.

Also, Yo-Han is always seductively stretching across furniture when he's near Ga-Onn.  Ga-On is usually contained, standing or sitting.

right after that “monster”  line, we cut to Seon-Ah doing yoga in her glass house

She's framed so vulnerably here, exposed to the outside.

oh! Minister Cha is here. oh! It was a surprise to Seon-Ah too.

She's actually a good actress, I think.  I mean, I'm not surprised, but it was hard to tell for sure since she almost always has on her mask.  she didn't even really have to take time to adjust her performance of self when Cha arrived.  

but her face when Cha threatens her with her past (1:04:56) and her real fear and anger she lets show after cha leaves

cha getting a hit in by humiliating her by referencing her past as a maid? that would have parallels to bamboo guy.  but perhaps she's just scared that cha has dug so deeply, or that kang has revealed.

oh fuck.  no, she's so angry because she feels humiliated.  her past as a not powerful person is deeply humiliating and shameful to her

Is she actually going to try to kill Yo-Han?  we have 6 episodes left, we're at the 63% mark

Not to bring up the distasteful teenager memory of Twilight LMAO, but yall remember that part of the story where it is revealed after Rosalie turns into a vampire she goes and devours every single one of the men who r*ped her.

Fierce Corpse!Qin Su coming for Jin Guangshan’s life.

JIGGY was always looking for ways to make a fierce corpse wasn’t he? Well consider this.

Madam Qin confronts JGY, but it was already too late. Qin Su was already pregnant. JGY, being the dumbest smart person, realized he has fucked up, but what to do? It’s not like he can tell Madam Qin he knocked up his own sister accidentally. Unknowing of this, Madam Qin then went to Qin Su to tell her the truth. Surely even if that degenerate won’t stop this marriage, once Qin Su finds out they are related, she wouldn’t go through with it.

Well, little did Madam Qin expect, once Qin Su finds out, she’s so overcome with disgust she takes her own life (canon compliant, I think? idk what that episode was about to be honest. I always assumed Jiggy drugged her to keep her quiet, but Qin Su was the one to take her own life. Jin Rusong is at best a ball of cells at this stage and abortion is a staple trope of cdrama don’t @ me. I take no criticisms.)

Well shit, now Qin Su is half a step away from death. Jiggy discovers this first, and is like O.O oh feck, but also... opportunity????  He recruits evil gremlin extraordinaire Xue Yang, and beginner’s luck takes them to a successful resurrection.

*cue Mary Shelly shaking her head from beyond the grave or... in the future....technically.*

Qin Su is rightfully like wtf JGY, but Jiggy is like aight sis i know you’re mad, but hey now that everyone knows what’s the deal here, I think we have a common enemy: Jin Guangslut. Should we kill him or should we kill him?

Xue Yang: yo so .... you still gonna get married or what?

Qin Su: if you even think about getting married i swear to god -

JGY: ....okay, how about “fake” marry. Once dear old Dad is dead, we can...idk have an amicable separation. I can even set you up on a date with a guy I know in the fierce corpse community. His sister is still in my basement come to think of it -

QS: what

QS: you are a fucking nutjob, Jiggy, you know that? I can’t believe I was attracted to you.

Jin Guangyao and Qin Su spend many nights in the secret chamber plotting together. Apparently the Jin crazy can both be inherited and developed. Qin Su decides her second life is rather nice, and having power is nice too, but she’d rather have some friends. 

*Jiggy and Qin Su’s Ten Step Plan to Un-Fuck the Cultivation World*

Aka Jiggy’s illegal but necessary emergency U-Turn. 

Step 1: Start playing some nice music ffs, and maybe when NMJ is in a better mood, the venerated Triad can be the venerated Triad. ;) 

Step 2: start treating MXY better. He could be useful as a loyal brother. 

Step 3:  Sic him on Nie Huaisang. They seem like they could do well together. Also, the easiest way to get through to NMJ is through his little brother.  

Step 4:  Make Jin Guangshan disappear.

Step 5: Speaking of little brothers, they’re gonna have to eventually deal with Lan Wangji. Even Qin Su’s 78 year old grandma with cataract can see he’s just a liiiiittle hung up on Wei Wuxian, who is unfortunately....dead. 

”How do you suppose we fix this particular problem?” 

”Isn’t there some cultivator prisoner found guilty punishable by death in your single minded cleansing of your political enemies?” 

"Of course. Go on I’m listening, mei-mei.” 

”So while you were off being shady, I did some research. There is a spell. I think a potential trade off could be made if we bargain right. Their soul, which was forfeit anyway, in exchange for a lifetime of protection and financial stability for their families.”

Qin Sun, “Just make sure they’re not too hard on the eye. Lan Wangji doesn’t seem to be the shallow type but one never knows.” 

Step 5: Jiang Wanyin needs an emotional laxative like... last year. Look into resurrecting Jiang Yanli. Once she’s alive, all that Yunmeng Bullshit will resolve, and you will also have a Lotus Pier forever grateful for Jin Guangyao and Qin Su’s kindness. If that doesn’t work...idk get Jiang Wanyin a dog. 

“Okay, hooow are you going to get a woman to give up her soul to -”

“Can we fierce corpse her? Wei Wuxian had a bunch of undead ladies hanging around right?” 

“........worth looking into.” 

Step 6:  Jin Zixuan. Yikes -

JGY “I didn’t kill Jin Zixuan. Wei Wuxian did.” (note: CQL washed WWX of any responsibility for the deaths of others by making it so that the Song of Turmoil caused him to lose control. This, in fact, is not what is written in book canon. WWX did lose control by himself without external influence. I can cherry pick the plot points I want to keep.) 

QS “..........but you sent him to his death.” 

JGY “..........”

QS *Deep sigh* “Who can we throw under the bus this time for Jin Zixuan’s death, Jigs? Someone that won’t be missed...got it. Su She.” 

JGY “He’s loyal to me, he’s an ally -” 

QS “Listen here, once you resurrect Jiang Yanli and Wei Wuxian, you will have the eternal gratitude of Yunmeng Jiang and Gusu Lan. Who gives a shit about Su Minshan that simpering turd.” 

JGY: True. *he’s understood by now that he could get rid of those who would talk shit, belittle, and disrespect him...but he could always do more with a couple of important influential people who would spread words of his goodness. Stubborn righteous cultivators like the Jiangs, Nies and Lans.* “Also Jin Zixuan’ll be an undead, not able to inherit. We’re safe.” 

QS: “Exactly.” 

Xue Yang: eating candy......... *eye roll* 

Step 7: Because Step 6 didn’t work out, forget about Jin Zixuan. 

JGY: “you know... maybe Jin Zixuan moved on.” 

QS: “Would explain why we couldn’t call his soul back the way we called back Jiang-gu’niang.” Qin Su glances back at Jiang Yanli’s soul-infused clay body in the process of being reanimated (lifted this idea straight from Inuyasha - ahem- kikyo.) “It’s probably better this way. I don’t like the thought of sharing the control of Lanling Jin with more people.” 

JGY:  “Ah, blood of my blood you are indeed.”

Step 8:  Reveal Jin Guangshan’s evil deeds. Once they kill Dear Ol’ Dad, they can just blame EVERYTHING on him and have him be the disgrace of the entire cultivation world, and them the unfortunate children left to do his bidding and trying the best they could to salvage what they can from his trail of ruins.

To say you were bored was an understatement. Since you were staying at Jiyoon's house and she was extremely hustled with work, you were isolated in her pink bedroom scrolling through Youtube and taking random quizzes. Even if she was there to accompany you, you still weren't in the mood to do anything.

After Eunwoo finally declared that he would leave you alone, there was a heavy feeling in your heart. It was silly, you told him to go away and to stop caring and he obeyed. But because he did comply to your demands, you couldn't help but feel disappointed. You hated yourself for acting like those girls who play hard to get and when the boys finally give up they start crying.

You tried texting Rocky but he was also overloaded with his own affairs. Seeing your employed friends actually having a living and working made you feel inferior and feel like a bum. Thus, you took out the resume Eunwoo gave you and filled everything out.

After making sure you sounded professional and good enough, an hour passed and you were ready to turn it in. You called the company and mailed the resume using Jiyoon's address. Now the last step was waiting for them to call you back for a job interview.

In the midst of your working, your phone lit up to indicate that you received a notification. It was a text from Rocky.

(Y/N), I'm back from work! Wanna grab dinner with me? I'll pay :)

You read the text and pumped your fists in the air. Free food is always great!

After sending Jiyoon's address, you changed into a casual outfit which consisted of a denim jacket and leggings with a random shirt. Your phone lit up again.

Hey that's really close to where I live! I'll be there in a minute.

You headed outside and waited for Rocky to show up. As you rubbed your cold hands together for warmth, your mind instantly flashed back the memory of Eunwoo holding your hands, radiating heat that could replace any sweater in the world. The memory brought your mood down but you tried to ignore it by shoving your freezing fingers into your pockets.

A car pulled by and you saw Rocky's head sticking out from the window, smiling at you. "Hey!" He called and you ran over to the passenger's seat and smiled back.

"Where are we eating?" You asked while simultaneously buckling your seatbelt.

"We're going to eat at a ramen place that I found recently!" He excitedly answered while driving forward.

After conversing for a while in the car, the two of you finally arrived at the store. The moment you got out of the car, you instantly recognized the ramen place.

It was the same place you and Eunwoo ate at. The same dim lighting and empty tables. Memories flooded in your brain as different sweet moments bubbled up reminding you of everything. You remembered the argument you two had about showering in the morning or night. You remembered spilling your heart to him about your fucked up family. You remembered his tight grip on your hand when you felt a tear threatening to spill out of your eyes.

All of it was too much to handle, but you tried covering up your panic by just offering a small smile to Rocky. He overlooked your obvious uneasiness and dragged you inside with him.

When the two of you sat down, you couldn't help but flicker your eyes frantically at the same table you and Eunwoo sat at and ate huge bowls of delicious ramen at. Rocky noticed this and asked you if you wanted to sit there. In reply you quickly shook your head and pretended to look through the menus although you already knew what you wanted.

"This place is really great. Have you eaten here before?" Rocky asked you.

"Ah... yes I have." You admitted which made Rocky look a little disappointed.

"Oh, sorry... I wanted to take you somewhere new..."

"Ah it's fine!" You shook your hands at him and gave him a reassuring look. "This place is amazing!"

"Well, as long as you're satisfied!" Rocky beamed.

After taking your orders, you felt a little more uneasy since it didn't feel right eating with Rocky there. It shouldn't be, it was just a casual hangout with friends... right? And it's not like it was a holy site that only you and Eunwoo should eat together at...

As you and Rocky talked a little more, he finally brought up what you were trying to avoid the most.

"So... how's the jerk?"

You winced at how he called him a jerk. Although you did tell him to call him that, you felt guility about it.

"Oh, I forgave him. You can stop calling him a jerk now."

"Oh? So what should I call him now?"

You considered it for a moment. "Well, I suppose you can just call him by his name: Eunwoo."

"Eunwoo?" Rocky stirred the straw in his cup. "Are you talking about Cha Eunwoo?"

You almost, ALMOST, fell out of your chair. "Yeah! Do you know him?" You asked a little bit too quickly.

Rocky gave you a small smile and sipped out of his straw. "I can't believe you fell in love with Eunwoo. At the same time I'm not surprised either."

You couldn't believe it either.

"Yeah, I know him. We worked together before."

"Really? For what?" You always knew that Eunwoo never really liked mentioning much about himself, but you thought that it was just something he didn't like steering the conversation to. Now that you two were on a break, you were more inquisitive than ever.

"I never talked about this but... I rap and he sings."

Your jaw fell when you heard that. Eunwoo... he can sing?! Before you could say anything, the waiter walked towards you two and served the two enormous ramen bowls. Rocky smirked at your shock at started to slurp the noodles.

"W-what? He can sing?"

Rocky nodded while sipping the soup.

"Why doesn't he like talking about it?"

"Well... you see... some issues occurred and we had to stop working together. Ever since then I guess we both left those careers behind."

"What kind of issues?"

"Well, some dude named Oscar who came from a super wealthy family sued us for 'stealing' his song ideas. He reported it to our company and we ended up getting fired." Rocky used his chopsticks to pick up a piece of kimchi.

"O-Oscar?" That name sounded so familiar.

"How dare you treat my little sister like that!!"

"Oscar. I don't fucking care about your sister. You can stop defending her now, just think of what I did as a favor. Now, she won't ever associate herself with men!"

Your memory clicked as you remembered where you heard the name from. Oscar was the intimidating body builder who almost sent Eunwoo to the ER with a punch if it hadn't been for you interrupting them.

“Hey, don’t worry about it. Oscar just has a long grudge on me because of some stuff that happened before.”

You recalled that Oscar held a long grudge on Eunwoo but Eunwoo never clarified it further. Eunwoo gave clues about his past that you ignored and felt were insignificant.

"You know Oscar?" Rocky curiously inquired while taking another bite of noodles.

"Yeah... doesn't he despise Eunwoo?"

Rocky deeply sighed and put his chopsticks down. "Yup. Ever since he got us fired for something we DIDN'T do, there's been a rivalry between those two."

"What about you?"

"Honestly, I still loathe Oscar. He crushed our motivation and careers. It happened such a long time ago that I learned to stop caring. But Eunwoo couldn't. Eunwoo never forgets. So I don't really have a rivalry with Oscar, but Eunwoo still does."

"But... Eunwoo still has a future. He's immensely wealthy and he'll be taking his father's position as CEO too! There's no reason he should still be mad or feel distressed."

After taking one last bite of noodles, Rocky wiped his mouth and chuckled at you. He looked up at you.

"(Y/N). Singing was Eunwoo's dream. It was the only thing he loved. Have you ever had something you love being taken away from you?"

You pushed past people standing in the hallways and ran everywhere, searching for Eunwoo. When you found that he was standing with his friends next to a couple of classrooms, you sighed out of relief.

Just when you were about to sprint closer to him and hug him tightly, your foot suddenly hit another person's leg which sent you flying to the floor. A loud thud boomed when you collapsed onto the cement. You winced out of pain and rubbed your knee that got scraped. Everyone continued doing their business, not bothering to help you or even notice that you were crumpling on the floor. When you looked up you saw that Eunwoo merely glanced over you carelessly and went back to his conversation.

Later on at lunch, you tried scouting for him again. When you saw a group of boys hanging around behind the school, you immediately recognized that Eunwoo was there. You made your way to them, ready to drag Eunwoo away. However, a large looking man stepped in front of you to halt you just in time.

You sighed out of frustaration, "What the hell do you want?"

"You aren't allowed here." He crooked his eyebrow at you. "What are you even doing here anyways?"

"I need to talk to somebody." You rolled your eyes and attempted to push him out of your way. Despite your efforts, he managed to literally carry you bridal style and throw you back onto the campus. You screamed and kicked at him but failed horribly. When you looked back at Eunwoo to see if he would help you, you found that he didn't even bat an eye at you the whole time.

Finally, you decided that this would be your last chance. If Eunwoo rejected you again after school, then you would stop trying. After taking deep breaths, you made your way to him in science class just when the bell was about to ring.

"Eunwoo."

He looked up at you but didn't bother to take his earplugs out of his ear.

"We need to talk."

Eunwoo took an earbud out. "What?"

"Let's talk."

He looked at you weirdly in a way that made you feel like a stranger to him.

"About what?"

You tried your best not to rip all of the hair off of your head. "Don't act like you don't know me Eunwoo!"

"Remember I said that I would stop caring about you? I mean what I say."

Those words bit you on your ass as you started to regret acting so cold towards him. I guess I’m getting a taste of my own medicine. He put his earbud back in and walked outside the classroom door although the class hadn't been dismissed yet. That didn't let you stop him though. You chased after him and clutched at his sleeve when you finally caught up at his speed. Eunwoo lifted his head and looked up at your hand and gave you an annoyed glare.

Before you could start confessing to him, both of you hear a loud shout from behind. The both of you look backwards and see that some teacher was shrieking. "Get back here both of you!" The teacher yelled.

"Or else I will give you two demerits!" The angry lady added which caused the both of you to look at eachother in fear. As if a magical connection sparked in both of your minds, the both of you bolted away from her.

The two of you scampered out of the school grounds together as you two panted heavily but still kept a steady speed. When you both managed to make it outside in two pieces, the two of you collapsed out of exhaustion onto the floor. For a couple minutes you two were just panting and not exchanging any looks or words to eachother.

"Eunwoo." You grunted while taking a swig of water from your bottle.

"What?" He finally answered as you handed him your bottle which he gratefully accepted.

"I'm sorry." You gulped.

When he didn't say anything, you felt your heartbeart grow louder and louder in your chest. You decided to continue.

"All this time I thought you had everything. I thought that you were the luckiest person on Earth and I envied you. I'm sorry I didn't know that your dreams have been crushed..."

You sniffled but still managed to restrain those tears. When you saw that Eunwoo wasn't holding you back, you scooted closer to him so that the both of you were sitting in front of eachother. His face was bowed down so you couldn't see the weather in his eyes.

"Rocky told me everything. I want to let you know that I regret all of those times I've ever said that you had everything and that you were perfect compared to me."

You shyly took his hand into yours which he didn't resist. "I'm sorry for not paying attention to you. All this time you were protecting me which I wasn't thankful for. This time, I will protect you."

He finally looked up and you saw that beautiful face of his which you could never get over. Before you could examine further, Eunwoo seized your face and leaned his lips into yours.

His soft, warm lips glided against yours perfectly. You decided to list this as one of the top best feelings in the world. Although he had done this before, it still felt new and unfamiliar. You’ll just have to get used to it since it’ll be happening a lot now.

When he released your lips you felt a small drop of water fall onto your face. When your eyes lifted up you saw that Eunwoo was staring at you warmly with glossy eyes and tears surrounded the brim of them. It was such a beautiful sight just looking at Eunwoo.

"Do you know how hard I try to resist kissing you every single day I’m with you?" Eunwoo finally asks while tightly hugging your body.

You laugh into his chest and hug him back, thankful that he forgave you.

"Eunwoo... I want you to tell me everything."

Now you two were laying on his bed comfortably while cuddling in eachother's arms. You were dressed in the same hoodie you've stolen from Eunwoo and kept for a couple days now. Your small body compared to his was wrapped in his long arms. You decided to list cuddling as your second top feeling in the world.

"I loved to sing, (Y/N). It was my only passion." He softly said into your ear as you listened intently.

"I would go to the recording studio with Rocky many times a day and write different pieces with him. Just when we were about to release our first song that I was ecstatic about, it was immediately cancelled. Oscar, the douchebag artist who worked in a different company, accused us of stealing his original tune or something like that. Although Rocky and I were innocent, he still managed to win since he was way more wealthy than the two of us combined."

"At that time, you weren't rich?"

"Not at all. So ever since I started attending the same school as him, we would try stealing eachother's girlfriends, getting eachother in trouble, doing those sorts of childish things. I guess those playing times are over now. I've moved on, I guess. Now that I’m rich, I guess I don’t have to worry anymore.”

Although you couldn’t see his face, you knew that his eyes were filled with wonder and regret.

"(Y/N). I absolutely enjoyed singing. It was more than a hobby. It was my dream."

He sighed loudly and held onto you tightly.

"Eunwoo... why are you speaking in past tense?"

"What do you mean?"

You pulled away from him to stare into his mysterious eyes. This time it was sparkling. It was a new weather this time. Instead of having a specific climate, it just looked like stars caping the midnight sky. You decided that this was your favorite weather out of all the ones you have seen before.

"I mean, you keep on saying that singing WAS your passion. Why can't it still be your dream?"

"It's just a silly idea. I won't become a singer, I'll still have to take my father's position and ditch those plans."

"I think you can do it."

Eunwoo laughed sarcastically. "Ah... it's such an old obsession though. I'm over it."

"Sing for me." You demanded while squeezing his soft cheeks.

"Ah! That hurts... okay I will." You let go of his cheeks, satisfied, and snuggled into his chest again to hear him.

He cleared his throat and started to sing anything that came to his mind.
