do you come up with all of your acbm headcanons on your own? you have so many! you could write a book with all of the lore you have

dude fr LMAO i’ve been in the fandom since like 2011 (tho I was shy to speak for the first handful of years) so it’s been like a decade of developing characters and creating/collecting headcanons

but honestly, no I don’t come up with it all on my own tbh. I love to incorporate the headcanons of some of the talented writers around me into other characters to give them more depth. The agents are all complex different individuals so I really love that other minds can speak and move them amongst the story, in ways I wouldn’t think of. It adds zest to my art and personifications of characters in it.

Only Malfatto, Joe, William, Verulo and Ilario are by my own design, which i’ve been building them off of research and years of dedication ongoing — others characters like Lupo, Fillan, Fiora, Rodrigo, Lia, Cahin, Baltasar, Rocco, Caleb, etc etc. are from people like @ardentfew & @larosafatale and some others who I talk to outside of tumblr rp. Those two are still just as dedicated as I, seeing as they’re still active in our year 2023 almost 2024 lmao

It just feels like a little world me, my friends and the community as a whole have created and studied, exchanging interactions and discussing history and timelines (like me and rebel have full sheets dedicated to exact dates things happen alongside canon AC events) that it helps solidify everything.

I love even just playing the base game, on the side of Ezio and the assassins, and thinking about where the opposing side resides and what good and bad they’re committing at the time. I love the templar agents agh

The do‘s and don’ts of fic reviews

Because a friend told me she never knows what to write and then never comments, but wants to learn how to do better, I thought I’d compile a list, and maybe it will help someone else as well!

As always, this is unofficial and just from my personal experience writing and reading fic, and talking with other fic authors.

What to comment

Honestly, authors love friendly comments, no matter how small. Here are some ideas for short comments you can write to pretty much any fic you enjoyed:

If you want to write something a bit longer, you can for example

Tell the author where you have been reading the fic or what you were doing while reading it

Tell the author what you should have been doing instead of reading fanfic (and that it was worth it to read the fic)

Copy a passage (or several) from the fic you particularly enjoyed

Did the author write a note at the end or beginning of the fic? Maybe even ask a question? Sometimes you can reply to author’s notes in your comment

How did the fic make you feel? Happy, made you cry, made you laugh, made you jealous of a character, or made you want to punch an antagonistic character’s nose in? Write it in the comment!

Is it your first fic in a fandom or with a ship? Your favorite fic in a fandom, or with a specific character? Did you read it in one go? Did you savour it slowly reading over days or weeks? Have you enjoyed every update of a multi-chapter? Do you wish you could read it again for the first time? Write anything you want to let the author know about your reading experience!

Is there a character you particularly enjoyed in that fic/chapter? Tell the author you think they wrote xy character really well!

You can always start or finish your comment with one of the suggestions from the short comments to make sure the author knows you liked it :)

If you really don’t know what to write, or are reading fic in a language not your own (though authors usually don’t mind you commenting in your native language) and aren’t comfortable commenting in either language, you can also leave emojis as comments, for example variations of:

Don’ts

There isn’t much you can do wrong when writing comments on fic, but there are a few things you should keep in mind:

don’t criticize (unless negative critics/what they can do better has been specifically asked for by the author, and then stick to the kind of criticism asked for, and best try to include something positive too to soften the blow)

don’t demand more/ask for updates - you can tell the author you’d read it if they wrote more, but don’t put pressure on them, you don’t know what’s happening in their lives right now and for what reason new entries might have slowed down, and they don’t owe you regular or any updates!

don’t tell them what to write (unless the author is taking prompts, and in most cases the comment section is not the right place for prompts, check what the author specified)

Remember: Fan fiction are free, from fans for fans, so etiquette is a bit different than in the Amazon reviews of books you paid good money for! Fic authors don’t have to cater to you, just enjoy that there are fics shared with the fandom :) If you don’t like something, or don’t like a part of something, either close the tab or quietly ignore the issue and just enjoy the parts you do like.

And in general, to end this on a positive note:

Yes, you can comment on older fanfics!

Yes, comment on several fics in a row if you’re reading through fics by one author!

Yes, comment on as many chapters of the same fic as you like!

Yes, you can make art for the fic and tell the author about it!

Yes, absolutely tell the author if you’re still thinking about a fic hours/days/years… after reading it!

Yes, send authors asks on tumblr/other sites talking about how you love their fics, if they link these sites in the author’s notes! (But also comment on Ao3)

Yes, you can comment/review even if you don’t have an account (at least on Ao3 and ffnet)!

Yes, please let the author know if you’re reading a fic for a second time, even if you just write ‘re-read kudos!’

The best comments are also written directly on the site the fanfiction got posted on (so usually ao3/ffnet and not tumblr/discord), both because it makes the note count higher, and because then the comment won’t quickly get buried under unrelated messages or posts.

If you want to leave long comments about different parts of a fic or chapter, you can also make use of the floating Ao3 comment box! It allows you to type your comment while you're still reading, without having to leave the page!

This completely covers why boy moms are so aggressive towards other women, too. Ich hatte immer viele Gedanken zu Klaas bei WSMDS. Hätte man mich heute morgen dazu gefragt, hätte ich gesagt, es ist noch zu früh. Wenn Klaas im Panel, dann erst in ein paar Jahren.

Heute Abend sehe ich das ein bisschen weniger skeptisch. Ich habe nie daran gezweifelt, dass es super unterhaltsam und sehr besonders wird, sie in dieser Show gemeinsam zu sehen. Aber einerseits ist der Punkt des „untergehens“ neben JK ein sehr valider. Die AZ Berichte von heute sind da ja zum Glück sehr positiv; scheinbar hat sich Klaas auch große Mühe gegeben, nicht zu viel Aufmerksamkeit auf sich zu ziehen.

Generell finde ich die Panel-Konstellation total spannend und kann mir gut vorstellen, dass sie da eine gute Chemie finden. Der Fokus wird nur ganz klar für viele von uns auf JK liegen und da hatte ich in der Vergangenheit immer ein bisschen Sorge, dass dadurch das Panel, aber auch die ganze Show in den Hintergrund rückt. Wenn JK in ihrer Bubble verschwinden, hat oft nichts und niemand eine Chance.

Inzwischen ist WSMDS und auch Joko in der Show aber total angekommen und auf eigenen Beinen stehend. Wird es sich trotzdem ganz anders anfühlen, Klaas statt Promi xy im Panel zu sitzen zu sehen? Auf jeden Fall.

Aber ich freue mich auf die Aufzeichnungen und bin mir sicher, dass es mir sehr gut gefallen wird, sie in diesem Kontext nochmal ganz neu zu sehen.

Auf was ich mich besonders freue: Klaas‘ Stolz, aber auch seine Aufregung, hoffentlich eine Klaas Show und damit einhereingehend ein Joko vs. Klaas Finale. Das kann nämlich nur fantastisch werden 🖤

PS: Glaube Klaas wird es sehr genießen, seine Aufmerksamkeit fÜR diE SHoW ganz auf Joko richten zu dürfen

Hey Birdie! I've noticed that almost all (or perhaps all?) of your fics are round-number word counts (500 words, 4,000 words, etc.). How do you manage to do that? Whenever I try for a specific word count I always drive myself mad. XD

I think I stole that format from @argyleheir a year or so ago - in all honestly i was simply curious if i could pull it off. Once i started, it kind of became addictive. I just love the extra challenge it poses, like a puzzle, fitting all the needed words together to a final count. I also got the feedback that switching to a fixed word count helped me get a better flow and pace for my chapters/oneshots/fics. It also allows for some cool easter eggs. Take Ladybugs - each chapter is exactly 500 words longer than the one before, as Jonathan's attempts to save someone turn more desperate. Also, it is just damn satisfying, seeing the sharp round numbers and stats. But I don't think i could do the same hassle for a multichap fic longer than, say, 50k, tho. That would take the fun out of it, doing it over and over for the same story.

As to how I do it.... that's a good question. I feel like i developed a pretty good feeling of "how much writing is XY words, and how much plot has to happen over that time" but still, I pretty much always have to adjust the words in the end into one direction or the other. Usually I prefer to go over the count and then cut back, instead of stopping a few dozen words short and then having to stretch some sentences on or add perhaps redundant detail to make it to my desired count.

Either way, it is a fun challenge, and I'll rec it to anyone to at least having tried it once! Thanks again for the ask 🖤

Okay so I just wanted to say this cause most transphobes get it confused. Sex is biological, and it is based on the XX & XY chromosomes. Gender, however, is psychological, and sometimes the sex we're born with gives us dysphoria aka discomfort. People who are trans or enby don't feel comfortable with their sex, so they use things like chest binders, estrogen and testosterone, and/or have top/bottom surgery just so that they can feel happy in their skin aka euphoria. There's also a third sex called intersex, where an individual is born with both male and female genitalia.

In summary, there aren't only two genders. Gender is not the same as sex. Sex is biological, and gender is a psychological spectrum. And even biologically, there are three (3) sexes.
