The Owens Valley in Eastern California contains a perplexing diversity of terrain. Crammed between two mountain ranges — both possessing 14,000-foot peaks that shoot up into the sky almost vertically — the entire region is an off-road riding dreamscape. Here's a quick glimpse of some of the fantastic terrain and incredible landscapes we encountered astride the legendary ‘86 Honda XR600R, on our ride through the Owens Valley.
#wheeliewednesday A HRC kitted XR650R that was so playful I decided to do the esses at Winton on one wheel, rather than two, cause I could….have a five shot sequence of this somewhere… I think it’s the only photo of myself I’ve ever had printed. So worthy of a re run. #honda #xr650r #supermoto https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch64ltQLxe5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
#XRNation 📷: @keith_liebe Today was another reminder that I spend way too much time in an office chair, and not enough time on the pegs. #XR650R #WLFenduro https://www.instagram.com/p/B3sLNgFH-uw/?igshid=jw39bl590q7z
We had a blast riding our 1986 Honda XR600R project bike in the Eastern Sierras at the Lone Pine 300. Revived on a small budget, the legendary XR held its own with several modern bikes in our group (e.g. KTM 500 EXC, Beta 430 RR-S and Honda CRF450RL), riding on a range of challenging tracks. Moreover, it did it on a set of budget-friendly Dunlop D605 tires that cost about $100 a set. Just goes to show, you don’t need a lot of money to get started in this sport, and as far as style points, hands down the XR600R won the day! Check out the full story: https://bit.ly/xr600revival
