Social media is going nuts for this giant ball pit 'beach' for grown ups

It's not easy to impress the internet. But every now and then, a simple idea can win them over big time. Most of them anyway.

For evidence, just look at the social media response to "The Beach," a massive installation created by New York-based art collective Snarkitecture.

The globe-trotting art piece has been designed to resemble a seaside getaway made up of an impressive 1.1 million white plastic balls, and has already been displayed in the National Building Museum in Washington D.C., as well as the Amalie Arena in Florida.

The piece is currently in Australia as part of the Sydney Festival, and locals have taken to the gigantic hang-out with aplomb.

The social media accounts of every visisting grown up have essentially become the expression of their excitable inner child. It's quite a sight.

5.Contemporary art and design often looks at the idea of constructed binaries, such as man/woman, soft/hard, straight/gay, dirty/clean, organic/synthetic. Considering the history of these ‘pairs’, how can art and design interrogate these binaries and offers new insights?

 Binary means: relating to, composed of, or involving two things.

More elements on binaries:

-       Plants and animals

-       Life and Death

-       Good and Bad

-       Light and shadow

-       Male and Female (Sexism)/ Gender/ Identity

 Exploring the ideas of how binaries can offer new insight

-       Good vs Bad  :

 E.g.) Hitler.  We all know that Hitler was a terrible man, but does that mean his artworks are also considered bad? Nor the person who painted a portrait of him?

 Eg) Graffiti (Graffiti as Vandalis)

-       : There are pros and cons on Graffiti’s and there are different opinions on whether graffiti are appropriate in public. In this contemporary society, graffiti’s can be seen mostly anywhere. On streets, bus, walls and trains. The fact about making Graffiti may be seen ‘bad’, or as a ‘crime’ but just by doing graffiti, would that be considered bad? Even though its art? The binaries between good and bad and acceptance in public is seen in the new society. The art theory behind graffiti are what interrogate designers to explore new insight into the contemporary society.
