Would like to gauge interest in Remix this year. Assuming it runs during July, please provide your feedback on the following:

What is Remix? Remix is a challenge where you rewrite someone else's X-Men story or redraw someone else's X-Men art the way you would have written/drawn it if it were your story/art.

What is X-Men Remix Main? X-Men Remix is when you sign up, you will be matched with another participant in the exchange and be asked to remix their work. Someone else in the exchange (not the person you write/draw for) will be remixing one of yours. Remix is a GIFT EXCHANGE i.e. you will get one of your works remixed.

What is X-Men Remix Madness? X-Men Remix Madness is when you sign up to give anyone permission to Remix any of your works (you may list safe stories which can not be remixed). You do not have to sign up if you only want to remix others but don't want anyone to remix your works. Remix Madness is a PROMPT CHALLENGE i.e. you are not guaranteed to have any of your works remixed. For those new to the X-Men fandom or have not participated in Remix previously and would like more information, please visit the Remix Collections linked above thank you.

Hi Anon,

You can post fics now! Just go to the prompt that you want to fill and hit the 'claim' button and then the 'fulfill' button and post your work!

Works will be revealed on Aug 8 (i.e. they can be read) but will remain Anonymous until the end of the Fest on Aug 15. You can post fics ANYTIME between now and the end of the last day!

Yes absolutely! We are madly trying to keep up with all the excellent fics that have been posted so far - 22 fics/art in the main collection and 13 in madness!!!

What is Remix Madness? Madness is a variation of the Main Remix Challenge; instead of remixing an assignment from the Mods you simply remix whatever fic/art you want from the people who’ve signed up to participate!

What are the dates for Madness?  Sign-up Opens: Now Works Revealed:Thu 08 Aug 2024 12:00AM EDT Creators Revealed:Thu 15 Aug 2024 12:00AM EDT

I want to let people remix my fics for Madness! Simple! Just go to X-Men Remix Madness 2024, first read the rules, and then sign up to participate!

How do I sign up? Go to the Collection homepage and select ‘Prompt Form’ from the left hand menu. Copy and paste and then answer the short list of questions there before clicking submit.

I want to remix other people’s fics - do I have to sign up for Madness too? You only have to sign up for Madness if you want people to remix your fics. You do NOT have to sign up for Madness at all if you only want to remix other people’s work.

Can I remix fic/art from other X-Men verses? Yes! In addition to remixing works based on the X-Men Alternate Timeline movie verse, you can also remix works based on the comics, animated series and original movie trilogy etc in Remix Madness.

Any word count minimum? What about art restrictions? No minimum word count and artwork can be sketches!

When can I start filling prompts/posting works? Anytime! You can start posting works now until Madness officially ends on Aug. 15.

What is a ‘safe work’? When you sign up to allow others to remix your works, you may designate certain ones as ‘safe’ and therefore off limits to others for remix.

Do I have take into consideration the original creator’s preferences when I remix their work? In a word - no. 

When can I start filling prompts/posting works? This is not a gift exchange, so you are not required to acknowledge the fic/art you receive if it is not to your tastes/contains content you don’t read/is offensive to you. There is not, and never will be, any penalty for not commenting on/kudosing/linking back to the fic or art you receive.

In light of the above, you are still expected to be civil to your remixer or recipient, regardless of the circumstance.

Question re: X-Men Remix Madness 2024

Guys, I can't believe we are 3 days out from the end of Remix! There's currently only one fic posted in the Madness collection, and I'm not sure if it's a summer vacation thing or lack of interest which is the reason for this poll - does anyone want me to extend Madness by a week? (Remix Main will still be revealed on Aug 15 as planned, with Madness potentially extending to Aug. 22)

Authors for X-Men Remix 2024 have now been revealed! A great big thank you to everyone who participated in the challenge this year and for our pinch hitters; your support is greatly appreciated!

A reminder that you have the option to post-date your fic/art now that reveals have gone live (i.e. change the post-date to today vs. when it was originally posted) so more people can see your work. :D

Author reveals for Remix Madness has been extended for one week. You are welcome to post works to the Madness Collection until end of day, Thursday August 22 at which point Remix will officially end for the year.

Note re: post-dating your fic/art:

As a general reminder, it is perfectly acceptable and even encouraged for you to post-date your fic/art. Post-dating means that you edit your work to give it today’s date instead of the earlier date it was posted. This allows more people to see your work during the anon period, versus few people outside of the exchange seeing it if it’s buried further back in the tag. All we ask is that you limit post-dating to once during the anon period and once afterward after reveals, so that you are not constantly leapfrogging over the other participants…so if you have not already post-dated, that is an option that is available to you. :)
