     wu xi is sitting too far away to hear them clearly, but as he watches the scene play out between gu xiang and cao weining, he thinks he can suppose pretty well what is happening. he’s said something well-meaning but foolish; she plays at annoyance, the high, taut drawstring of her voice rising across the courtyard, admonishing him; he ducks his head, easily admitting fault and acquiescing to whatever it is she’s decided to remind him of in no uncertain terms; she gesticulates a bit more and then turns and flounces away, apparently in a huff but hiding her smile until her back is turned.

     it amuses wu xi to see. they are different, and yet not so very different, from another pair of teenagers that had once been: one pretty and well-bred and fashionably-inclined, spouting poetry, the other wild and fierce and uncouth, a stranger to the culture but determined to pursue him anyway, despite not understanding half of what comes out of his mouth. though perhaps beiyuan would not quite appreciate the comparison, given that even wu xi can tell that cao weining’s verses are rarely in the right order, or even from the same poem.

     still, he can’t help but enjoy watching their flirtations play out, his smile tinged with reminiscence. when gu xiang heads his way, he raises a hand to gesture to her, the small snake wrapped around his wrist stirring at the slipping of his sleeve. “guniang,” he calls. the tea set in front of him has enough for two, and beiyuan is taking a nap. wu xi smiles, inviting her approach. “you are fierce in an argument. what did he do to offend you?”

1 .    zhou   zishu   knows   they   are   not   too   close .   but   she   is   wen   kexing ’ s ,   so   she   is   his   by   extension ,   too .   he   never   says   it ,   but   somehow ,   somewhere ,   the   switch   clicked ,   &   he   came   to   consider   her   as   his   as   liang   jiuxiao   was .

2 .   he   calls   her   brave .   he   knows   a   girl   like   her    does   not   really   demand   to   be   called   pretty ,   or   be   given   shiny  things .   besides ,   she   can   get   all   of   that   from   cao   weining .   no ,   he   calls   her   brave ,   &   strong ,   &   teaches   her   how   to   punch   harder . 

3 .   he   will   sit   next   to   her ,   &   share   his   wine   pouch ,   not   talking   ---   listening   if   she   wants   to   talk ,   but   in   truth ,   first   &    foremost   offering   his   shoulder   for   support .

4 .   in   the   winter ,   when   they   make   snowmen ,   even   if   so   many   years   have   passed ----   zhou   zishu   makes   one   for   zhang   chengling ,   but   he   also   makes   one   for   gu   xiang ,   too .

5 .   he   goes   to   visit   her   alone ,   without   wen   kexing ,   &   he   always   burns   paper   money ,   sits   next   to   where   her   name   is   carved   &   offers   a   drink .

The boy ran up to his mother, hugging her leg with all the strength of a six-year-old. He watched her long enough to get bored, and the sun was already setting, casting weird shadows all around them - but he wasn't afraid, his mother was with him. "Can you teach me too?" He waving one hand around, imitating her movements best he could without loosening his grip on her. "I want to be strong like you!" With wide hopeful eyes, he looked at the person who was his own personal sun.

  ⚍☯��� She had just been sliding her sword back into the sheath on her back when she felt a pair of small arms wrap around her leg, causing her to stagger ever so slightly. She gazed down at the boy with a flutter of dark lashes, not having realized he was watching on the outskirts of the training courtyard, thinking he was picking up some of his father’s habits of sneaking up on her; she would have to be careful with that blade.

  His earnest gaze made her smile, a hand coming to rest atop his head with an affectionate stroke. “Of course — you’re my son after all,” she reasoned, squatting down so that she could look him in the eyes more properly. “I think you’re just about old enough to begin. But once you start you’ll have to practice hard every day, over and over. Sometimes you’ll want to quit, but you’ve got to keep going,” she cupped his cheeks, giving them a small smoosh. “Think you can handle that?”

  She had been about his age when she first properly began her training. She recalled how arduous it had been, and how impatient she had felt at first. The frustration would be hard on the young boy, but he had a willingness and passion in him that reminded her of herself, and any son of Xie Yun’s was sure you be far too clever for his own good; she felt certain he could handle it. ⚍☯⚎

Ahhh the lovely, the talented Rhys~ Can I just say how in awe I am of your portrayals? So far I’ve written with ... three of your CQL muses? And every one of them has had such a distinct and incredible voice that sets them apart in a really impressive way. It’s hard to run multis and manage to keep portrayals fresh like that and you do just such an amazing job. Also I need to personally thank you for the absolute sass-brigade that is Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji doing anything together. As well as the absolute heart-wrenching love from Wuxian for his mess of a drunk husband, and Xichen for his stubborn little didi. I feel it all so deeply in my chest and it’s such a pleasure to get to write with such excellent renderings.  I adore you, and keep up the excellent work <3

Psyche! Hello my love! You and Huaisang are such lovely rays of sunshine and it’s wonderful having you both in mine and Wangji’s lives. I live for plots where characters have known one another from young ages, deepening ties that might not have been in canon and giving our bbies stronger roots and support networks. I have yet to delve into your other characters so deeply, but Huaisang is a beautiful, elegant soul and they light up the narrative beautifully. I also want to applaud you for your inclusivity in gender and sexuality/romantic expressions with your characters. It’s very brave to take these approaches with canon characters and push for representation, and I think you’re absolutely wonderful for doing so. As a fellow enby, Huaisang has all of my love and support, and so do you. Keep up the amazing work and I look forward to writing with you much more in the future.

Listen, I know it’s kind of our destiny to just hurt each other over and over again, but I’m here to give you some sof feelings. Iron, you got some of my first posts on this blog and you’re still here writing with me —I’m incredibly grateful and lucky for this. Thank you so much for sticking through me figuring out my disaster of a son, and for giving him such a loving and supportive brother to help him figure out life as a new dad. Writing the posts between Xichen and Wangji through various points in their lives have been one of my favorite sets of interactions here so far, and it’s really been invaluable to helping me establish a sense of my character and how he interacts with his family and those around him. Not to mention his dynamic with his poor husband who can barely get him to rest long enough to heal up — what a saint.  You are such a gem of a person and I really treasure the time and effort you’ve given me, and can’t wait to bring you more sweet sweet pain cherish your friendship with sof and respectful things that don’t hurt at all <3

Sometimes I see your tags and you seem so sad, and it hurts my heart to think you might not know how incredible of a person and how talented of a writer you are. Those are not empty words, I genuinely mean them — I am in awe of you and everything you write, and read your posts over and over when you send them to me. You care deeply about your muses and it shows, and you also care deeply about your friends and I feel it. Getting excited with you over things has been one of my favorite experiences, and seeing you on my dash is always cause for joy, even if you don’t have the energy to write at that time (which is 100% valid and okay, btw. We all have to be kinder and more patient with ourselves about this.) Thank you for being my friend and writing partner. Wraith and their Xingchen are just flawless. Everything from aesthetics to verbiage to just how wonderful and kind they are as a person, it’s all so incredible to behold. Our interactions sort of started out with Sinday “eh sure why not” shenanigans (like they do) but honestly one of the most sincere and beautiful relationships came out of it that I’m just floored by. You give Xingchen such a grace and beauty that is palpable and inspiring, it’s impossible not to love and admire you both. HEADCANONS ABOUT OUR MUSES

They  officially  met  at  Cloud  Recess  (because  I  am  sure  they  had  seen  each  other  previously  in  conference  and  such)  and  probably  developed  a sort  of  understanding  as  they  both  cared  a  lot  about  her  brothers,  but  were  helpless/powerless  to  help  them.

Given  the  time,  I  feel  Huaisang  and  Yanli  both  could  have  helped  each  other  to  see  beyond  their  limitations  in  the  cultivation  sense.  She  could  have  teach  him  way  to  better  take  care  of  those  he  loves  through  cooking  and  caregiving.  And  he  could’ve  taught  her  how  to  face  others  without  needing  physical  strength.

I  also  imagine, of  everyone  around  them,  they  are  both  the  only  ones  of  similar  strength  and  endurance,  so  the  would  be  ideal  sparring  partners.

I  do  believe  no  matter  how  much  time  they  spent  together  Huaisang  probably  offered  his  brother’s  hand  in  marriage  to  her  AT  LEAST  once.  He’s  better  than  the  peacock,  he  promises!

     PAN!! Nobody is intimidated by Wen Ning!! You’re doing it wrong 🤭 Personally I find the chains very anime-badass-sexy. But I guess if I met him without knowing him I’d be a little scared as well 🤔 He only needs to open his mouth and say one word to expose himself as the fluffest fluff alive.

yeon sat on the porch of the building, the light came from the torches inside the court as well as her dim lit room behind them. next to her seon ho. it had been silent between them, just enjoying each other’s company while looking up at the stars that shone brightly in the night sky. a rare moments these days but yeon enjoyed it either way.

when he spoke her head turned, a warm smile already grazed her round features as she looked at him. “ do i ? -- ”  admittedly, she was curious, her voice was melodic as the words rolled over her lips. the youngest of the three had known him for a long time not as long as hwi did know him but she was glad he was their friend. “ will you finally lean on me and tell me what you keep bottled up ? --- i am very good at keeping secrets. ” yet, she could not help teasing a little while still remaining joyful and curious. --- a tad childlike.

  ⚍☯⚎ It was always this. Debates between the empress and his father over who was better suited for the crown — him or his younger brother who now sat beside him, quiet, supportive. It wasn’t the debate over the position itself that wore on him over time. Honestly, he’d always expected it would be Xu Feng to take the throne once their father stepped down. He was well-loved by the people, the military, a glorious prince in shining gold that had fire running through his blood. Such were the makings of a strong ruler, one that Runyu would stand by proudly for the duration of his reign.

  No, these were not the things that had him sitting sullen, dejected. It was the attack on his character — the assumption without proper evidence that he would put his brother in the way of harm for his own gain when he had been nothing if not an adoring, doting elder sibling to the male. It was the implication of his half-nobility, born to a woman not even a proper concubine who showed shame in knowing her son was born of the great dragon ruler instead of pride. It was so many little things that tailed him through his lifetime, always nipping at his heels, reminding him of his inadequacy and one-down position that wore on him over time, making him stoic and avoidant.

  He turned a somber face to the male that sat beside him — a boy he’d grown up with, thicker than even the blood that ran through their veins; true brothers no matter what anyone would have them believe. The younger’s smile was infectious, bringing one to Runyu’s lips as he exhaled deeply, his gaze returning to his lap as his head ducked in a simple nod. “I know,” he reassured him quietly. “It’s never you I’ve doubted, Xu Feng — I know I have your support, and you know you have mine.”

  He leaned back, folding his hands in his lap and gazing up at the sky, sinking into his thoughts. “If only it were enough for them.” ⚍☯⚎
