the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

very quickly: the expectation that jgy needs to be some kind of working class hero is :/ to begin with, and condemning him for “buying into the system of oppression” is really telling when that’s not a criticism made of anyone else

but the idea that jgy personally is refusing to use his power to uplift the common people is mind bogglingly dumb

i cannot emphasize enough that his primary project for the last decade has been trying to figure out how to get all of the other sects to do their fucking jobs—the jobs they were supposed to have been doing the whole time—so that poor people are less likely to be fucking murdered by monsters.

a concept, if you recall, that was so controversial, nobody questioned that a guy would kill his political opponent’s child over it.

this society balked at “do the jobs you signed up to do,” but it’s somehow jgy’s fault that change is going so slowly? fellas he’s the only one doing anything.

anyway, if Meri's never been in love till Abel, Nephele is always in love with someone. Although..... after meeting Abel, Nephele cant get him out of his mind!! its like no other romance he's felt before and needs to make Abel his, even if he's 'committed' to Merihem

I love the family get togethers:

2nd prince just casually shoving crown prince and then catching him. Like "never forget I can save your life or end it you little prick."

Fan Xian just hanging out outside. Bixia is not amused. 1st prince is highly amused. 3rd prince thinks his cousin is super cool! crown prince isn't sure how to take this. 2nd prince is done with all their shit.

Multiple assassins. Fan Xian the hero. First prince highly competent and helpful. 3rd prince trying to dodge and protect at the same time in a highly incompetent way. 2nd prince taking a shot which at least is better than crown prince who slipped and fell on his ass.

Edit: Also did Bixia take care of the assassin pretending to be a eunuch? Because FX was busy with the one in white and first prince was busy with someone else.

I love Fan Jian so much. He sees his son running down a cliff and what does he do? Panic, immediately burst into the "top level" of the pavilion where the emperor is, doesn't stand on ceremony, doesn't say anything other than:

"WHY IS FAN XIAN RUNNING AFTER THE ASSASSIN ALONE"

Bixia: aren't you worried about me?

Fan Jian: Sure fine. BUT WHY IS MY SON RUNNING AFTER AN ASSASSIN ALONE!?

Ok so I have a thing for grumpy power bottoms that act tough and make a habit of calling their special someone "annoying" and stuff, BUT are actually the greatest sweethearts and immediately go soft as soon as there's a little bit of intimacy, also get super needy when their partner isn't there for some reason, but they're too proud to say " I miss you" so they act annoyed and leave them on read lol

I think Old Xian deserves an award for the most successful edge-r in human history lol. The potential 19 Days had that disappeared into thin air as soon as she made the side characters the main ones is so disappointing.

Have been following the Manhua since 2015, TWO THOUSAND AND FIFTEEN, that's nine years ago. No development whatsoever for the sweet ol' main couple. I thought she'd eventually get back on track oh I don't know after a year or two or three or four or five, I was gravely mistaken. It started out so well now it's just a ???? Wrapped around some ¿¿¿¿.

Here is a message to Old Xian, please give me some closure before my fiftieth birthday. I beg you. We were all rooting for you I swear lol. I have very very little rooting left to give but please, get it together.

PS: my 50s are still a bit far but not sure I'll make it with all the smoking.
