Honestly one of my biggest hopes for reactions and attitudes of new fans once Definitive Edition releases is that people are just generally more accepting of having a player avatar. That Cross isn't really the protagonist in the sense that Shulk or Noah is admittedly a bit of a hurdle that you need to mentally get around, and isn't that ideal writing-wise. But I always get such a kick out of people expressing themselves with their Crosses, coming up with their own designs and sometimes even backstories and the like, and I really hope to see more of that sort of thing - they're really kinda like the player character in Splatoon games, in that sense.

Last summer Uniqlo ran a line of Final Fantasy T-shirts and I went to get one of the FF16 ones. Then at the store I fell in love with a FF14 one as well. I was still not very far into A Realm Reborn then so I had a bit of a breakdown over if I should even get a shirt if I didn't know the character on it. Then managed to convince myself that that was bullshit and "pretty Amano art is pretty" is more than enough reason to buy a shirt. Now that I am a lot farther into the game (level 61 MSQ section of Stormblood) I got curious about what is actually printed on my beloved shirt. Which was a lot harder than you'd think. Cause it was listed as Warrior of Light. And, of course, googling ff14 warrior of light is gonna return the generic trailer guy and not this specific af piece of artwork. Finally found at least some context tho: a reddit post of the artwork that lists it as 5.3 spoilers. So I guess this little sprout has been wearing a post-Shadowbringers shirt all this time XD

A demigod is going on a rampage and turning cities into glass for the lols and Addam gets tapped by the pope to stop this by becoming the retainer of another demigod that’s exactly the same type of entity as the first one except this time its a teenage girl who can only tolerate the lightest of provocations before threatening to activate her orbital space laser (the one that can turn cities into glass)

Him telling her to cool it or to back down sometimes because she absolutely needed a guiding hand in this regard is not what gave her PTSD! 😭 Her brother goading her into a dragonball z fight that caused grievous collateral damage, killed her ugly surrogate brother-figure, and sank an island did that

There are honestly countless supposedly "bad design decision" in Xenoblade Chronicles X that I will defend to death.

But one thing that I will never ever defend about it is this weird-ass decision to have the same gear look radically different between male and female characters.
