Honestly one of my biggest hopes for reactions and attitudes of new fans once Definitive Edition releases is that people are just generally more accepting of having a player avatar. That Cross isn't really the protagonist in the sense that Shulk or Noah is admittedly a bit of a hurdle that you need to mentally get around, and isn't that ideal writing-wise. But I always get such a kick out of people expressing themselves with their Crosses, coming up with their own designs and sometimes even backstories and the like, and I really hope to see more of that sort of thing - they're really kinda like the player character in Splatoon games, in that sense.

A demigod is going on a rampage and turning cities into glass for the lols and Addam gets tapped by the pope to stop this by becoming the retainer of another demigod that’s exactly the same type of entity as the first one except this time its a teenage girl who can only tolerate the lightest of provocations before threatening to activate her orbital space laser (the one that can turn cities into glass)

There are honestly countless supposedly "bad design decision" in Xenoblade Chronicles X that I will defend to death.

But one thing that I will never ever defend about it is this weird-ass decision to have the same gear look radically different between male and female characters.
