Okay, I wrote this really quickly because it’s officially @aveline-the-dragon-slayer‘s birthday today and I wanted to get them something!! So a post ME3 short fic, featuring Dalila Shepard, Xavia Hale (their OC whom I love very much), Liara T’Soni and their daughter Heidi. I hope you like it, AJ!!! <3 <3 <3 

Everyone forgot about birthdays while Dalila and Xavia were recovering. Dalila had just recuperated her ability to speak, and Xavia was now able to walk around a bit, with some medical help. When Xavia’s birthday came up, she was not expecting anything to happen. Technically, she had not even given that information to her girlfriends. However, she had noticed that since Dalila could talk, she asked what day it was, as if she kept forgetting it—or she was preparing something, making sure she did not sleep past the day she was awaiting.

On the day she knew it was her birthday, Liara walked in with their daughter in her arms, her great green eyes scanning the room and the people in it, a party hat on her head. Liara was wearing a matching one, and so was Dalila—although without the string around her neck to avoid damaging restoring tissues.

“Wh—what’s going on,” Xavia said, not even as a question.

Heidi reached out for Xavia to hold her. Liara stepped closer to her bed, and while passing their daughter to her, pressed a kiss to the top of Xavia’s head.

“Happy birthday, dear,” she said. Dalila echoed the wishes in a rougher voice, but a smile just as bright. Xavia stared at them all, with their dumb party hats and could not hold back her tears.

“I told you she’d cry,” Dalila said.

“Oh, don’t be smug now, darling,” Liara replied. “It’s hardly the time.”

Heidi wiped the tears on Xavia’s cheeks with small, adorable blue hands. “How did you even know it was my birthday?” she asked.

“I’m still a Spectre,” Dalila said. “I managed to get access to your file for…an important mission. I know it’s not much, but it’s hard to organize anything when we’re both in the same room pretty much all the time.”

Xavia laughed through her tears, “It’s perfect.”

The door opened, revealing Frieder and Kaidan coming through, wearing the same party hats, and respectively holding a cake and small gift bags.

“Kaidan had to pull a few strings to get this in,” Frieder said, referring to the cake, “but I knew they’d make an exception for Spectre Hale’s birthday.”

“He said ‘pull a few strings,’ but I really just had to ask to the reception… Really no big deal,” Kaidan added, lightly jabbing his husband in the ribs.

Xavia could not wipe the smile of her face. So many birthdays before—most of them, really—had gone unnoticed or flat-out ignored, but the most important people in her life decided to throw her a birthday party although no one was really in shape to celebrate anything. For once, she was speechless. She hid her face behind Heidi’s head, covered it in kisses.

“Aw,” Dalila reached for Liara’s hand. “Look honey, she doesn’t know what to say.”

“I just—” Xavia sharply inhaled. “Love you all so much.”

Liara smiled at her fondly. “We love you too.”

"What's wrong with you?" for the ot3? ;)

After a long wait, here it is!! Xavia Hale belongs to @aveline-the-dragon-slayer, Dalila is my canon Commander, and they are in a polyamorous relationship with Liara. Here’s some Shadow Broker angst from ME2 ;)

Xavia helped Dalila up after her fall, watching Liararunning to catch Tela Vasir. Dalila was clearly in pain, but Liara had not evenlooked behind her to make sure that she was all right. Xavia looked at hergirlfriend, who nodded at her signaling that she was fine, before chasing Vasiras well, Garrus not far behind them. They reached a balcony, just in time tosee Vasir escape in a stolen car and Liara still shooting at the vehicle. MoreBroker agents arrived but taking them down was not a problem. When everythinghad calmed down, Xavia decided to confront Liara.

“What’s wrong with you?” she shouted. “Dalila fell fromabout three stories and you don’t even stop?”

“She’s been through worse; a fall was not going to killher!” Liara argued. “Vasir was our target, and she ran away.”

“She’s your girlfriend, ourgirlfriend! You didn’t see her in two years and you barely acknowledged her!”

“I didn’t see you much in the past two years either, Xavia,”Liara replied, cold and hurtful.

Dalila put her hand on Xavia’s shoulder. “Let’s not forgetwho our enemy is,” she said. “I’m sorry Vasir ran away, Liara. And I’m sorrythat our reunion had to be this way.”

“We don’t have time for this. We need to go after Vasir,then find Feron. And kill anyone who tries to stop us.”

“That’s it?” Xavia asked. There was still frustration in hervoice.

“That’s it,” Liara confirmed. She walked to get a car withoutlooking back at Xavia or Dalila.

Once Vasir was dead, Liara rushed to go back to the Normandyto find the Shadow Broker’s lair and find her friend Feron, again withoutmaking sure her girlfriends were not injured. Xavia got tired of it. Shegrabbed Liara’s wrist and turned her around.

“Would you stop for a second?” Xavia insisted. “We’ll bejumping several lightyears, there’s time to talk.”

“About what?” Liara hissed.

“About us!”

“Xavia, listen. I’m glad you and Dalila are here, I truly am—”

“You’re worried you might have terminals you need me tohack?” Xavia fought back.

“That’s not fair! Dalila died, and you left me alone togrieve!”

“I came back,” Dalila interjected. “And I found Xavia.”

“It’s not that easy!” Liara looked away, tears in her eyes. “Youcan’t just come back and have two years of mourning and heartbreak suddenly vanish.I—I can’t do this. Let’s find Feron and we can discuss this after.”

“Fine,” Xavia unhappily conceded. She took Dalila’s hand inhers and pulled her ahead of Liara to reach the Normandy before. Their heartsstung; the initial glee from finding Liara again gone to an unpleasant andbitter disappointment to the person she was now.

“Xavia…” Dalila started.

“We have to get you checked out by Chakwas,” Xaviainterrupted. Dalila lowered her head in understanding and dropped the subject.She would have to keep a close watch on Xavia to make sure that she would notreach for a tequila bottle once she was alone. That conversation with Liara hitthem both harder than they thought it would. Dalila hoped that they would makeit better once they found Feron and everything settled down.

Exhausted Parents Kiss

Just a little drabble with my oc, Xavia, and @gaysparkler's oc, Dalila for oc week

According to the clock hanging on the wall, Xavia and Dalila had exactly 53 minutes of sleep when their new baby, Anderson, began crying for the third time that night. Xavia did her best to hold in her groan when she realized that it was her turn to check on him.

They adopted Anderson only three weeks ago, and it had been a hell of a ride since. None of their daughters had been this unruly when they were babies—and Xavia, Dalila, and Liara took care of them from the womb and on, unlike their son—and Xavia just hoped that Anderson was an outlier and none of their future children would be as merciless as him. Xavia just wanted one full hour of sleep, was that too much to ask?

“It’s your turn,” Dalila murmured, and Xavia sighed.

“I know, I’m getting up, just give me a second,” Xavia said. Oh, she didn’t want to leave the comfort of their bed…

“When did Liara say she would be back? Anderson is kicking our butts with just the two of us here,” Xavia whined. That was probably another reason she thought Anderson was so much worse than their other children: Liara had been gone for almost two weeks on Shadow Broker business, and their usual three mom rotation had been cut down to two. Now, not only did Xavia and Dalila have to manage three school-age children on their own, there was also a screaming baby with absolutely no idea what being awake and quiet was like. Xavia didn’t think she could last another two weeks and still maintain her sanity.

“Um, she should be back in a day or two, I think?” Dalila said, sleep still thick in her voice. “You’re right, though. We may have saved the galaxy from the Reapers, but we are no match for Anderson Hale T'Soni Shepard.”

Xavia chuckled. “I don’t think the Crucible can help us with him.”

Dalila murmured something else, but it was too quiet for Xavia to understand, meaning Dalila was already almost back to sleep. Xavia only briefly wished it were her before she ripped the covers off herself and sat up. She quickly wiped the rest of the sleep from her eyes, then summoned all the willpower she had and slid off the bed and onto the cold, hardwood floor below. She walked down the hall of their apartment—after their third daughter, the three parents decided to move into a bigger house elsewhere on the Citadel, and Freider, Kaidan, and their two daughters lived in the old apartment Captain Anderson gave Dalila.

Xavia opened the door to the nursery, and she picked up the still-screaming baby. Singing and rocking him was usually enough to put Anderson back to sleep after fifteen minutes or so, but once he was laid back in his crib, he would immediately begin crying again, which would mean another fifteen minutes of singing and rocking. It took Xavia nearly an hour to get him to fall asleep then stay gods there be that Anderson would sleep through however many hours there were left in the night.

Xavia nearly passed out walking back down the hallway, and the happiness and relief she felt to be back under the covers of their bed was beyond her own comprehension. She could write sonnets about the joys of laying under a nice, heavy duvet, warmth radiating off of one of her wives as they slept next to her. Oh, what a relief it was!

Her joyous inner ramblings were only increased in intensity as Dalila turned and Xavia was able to bask in the wonders of her wife’s face. Dalila smiled sleepily, and Xavia grinned back.

“So, he’s finally down, then?” Dalila asked, and Xavia nodded. “Ah, yet another battle we can count as a win.”

“For now, at least,” Xavia said. Dalila chuckled, then she closed the space between the two of them and kissed Xavia chastely on the lips. When she pulled back, they were both smiling like idiots, despite how tired they both were.

“We’ve already done this three times, we can do it a fourth,” Dalila said. Xavia leaned in for a kiss again, this time significantly less chaste as she held Dalila’s face in her hands.

“And a fifth, and a sixth…” Xavia said between kisses.

“Hmmm, we’ll see,” Dalila laughed, though it was muffled by Xavia’s mouth. “We’ll have that discussion after Anderson can walk. I’m not having another set of kids just a year apart, and I’m sure Liara will agree.”

They pulled back again, though this time for good. They said goodnight for the fourth time that night as they snuggled together, eventually falling asleep in each other’s arms.

Twenty-two minutes and forty-five seconds later, Anderson began crying again.

I am actually! I started working on it the other day. I’ll probably just do my Dragon Age OCs for now because I have them more developed, but I’ll try and get the pages up asap. Until then, my tagging system is not the best, but I do tag every oc in posts involving them, and I tag “my ocs” and “the slayer’s ocs” on any original posts with them. If you want to read any of my fanfiction (I only have fics for Jaras Lavellan, Venowen Tabris, and Xavia Hale rn), then I have an AO3 too, by the username of dragonsofarlathan!
