@scxrytxles ; ask Alice begins to poke the pointy peaks of her fangs. Now that Xander mentions it, she guesses they kind of are. Huh! She'd never really thought about it. "Chunky-" She half-garbles, mouth full of hand. A pause as she realizes her words are getting all tangled up talking like this. Bleyah- she ejects her hand, immediately wiping it on dark denim. As soon as it's dryish, she leans forward, taking a grip of Xander's jaw and encouraging his mouth open. "You had some sharp chompers though, it remembers! At least six..." The sooner you open your mouth, Xander, the sooner she'll be done.
Xander crouches down and peers into Alice's mouth--as best he can around her hand, anyway--head tilting as he tries to get a better view. "Yeah, that's a good word for it." Alice's teeth are no delicate vampire fangs, that's for sure. He wonders if they were always like that; did she even have baby teeth?
He's about to ask when her hands are on his face instead, squishing his cheeks and lips. "I dunno, I don't think they're that sh--ough." That was definitely, absolutely, Alice's hands in his mouth. He adjusted his tongue--she tasted strangely of salty cherry--but otherwise held still, mouth open, awaiting her judgement.

Desperate and trembling were two words Xander would never associate with being in a fight. Hearing this, he's not altogether certain if Kai has ever been in a fight, or if he's only experienced being beaten. A fight was a conversation, and the message was his fist in his opponent's face. It conveyed what words couldn't. If anything, it was like music like that.
"That's--" What the fuck is he supposed to say to any of that? "fan-fucking-tastic, for you, I guess." He regretted arranging this. Where was Jeremy when you needed him? His brain stalled out, trying to think of something, literally anything, to change the subject to. "Random question, you got any--pets?"
Terrible. That's gotta be the worst anyone's ever done it. He doesn't even like animals.
One burning brown eye watches Xander move, a little smile on his face. It disappears- vanishing like a whisper on the wind as the bottle slips out of his hand. Kai lets out a small, bemused hum. "Yo--u just don't get it. Haven't y' ever been in a fight? Ever thought about the intimacy of violence? No one else will see you like that- see the inside of you, the physicality of flesh against flesh, how desperate and trembling you are."
A laugh bubbles out of him and Kai pulls himself upright. "Tell me how that's any different from sex, hm? I think y're just jealous y'don't have a girl like mine who can do it all. She's hot even when she's stalking me across the street." There's all together too much fondness in his voice- too much blood beneath it all. It stains him to the bone, seeping out of his scars and his mouth. "I've written so many songs for her. She makes m' sing like no other-- sh' deserves a ballad or two after everything."

@virtueofsanityx continued from x
It had been just a moment, really, a lucky one, that Xander had been close enough to watch her feet go from under her, to see what was coming. He had reached for her, glad he was close enough to grab her, too, but not thinking he'd actually be able to make the save. Then, there he was, Prince Fucking Charming, with both hands on Daisy's hips and her feet firmly planted beneath her. And were they having a moment?
His lips parted as he opened his mouth to speak, but nothing useful came out, just a few little sounds which made his cheeks burn hot before he internally said fuck it and leaned in to kiss her, his lips pressed against hers for a beat or two before he broke it, leaned back, tried to gauge her reaction. Had that been the right thing to do?

Location: Breaking Glass Bar Starter for @shadowedxcat
"How about for every game we watch you get to teach me more and more about your research? I'll even take notes." Xander was trying to show he was grateful that she had let him drag her along to the bar to watch March Madness games. "I also have money on a few of these games so I'll use some of my winnings to treat you. Maybe I don't know, get you a really fancy pen or something." Xander hadn't always considered himself the best friend to have. Sure he was reliable, loyal even but he had never really been good at the whole nurturing thing that it took to really make friendships last. To be someone who cared not just in actions. But since his recent birthday, he had realized that if kept letting his fear of everything ruin his connections to other humans, he was likely to be alone forever. Something he once thought he'd be okay with.
"Also I gotta tell you about one of the calls we responded to this morning. Gnarly. But after this last two minutes, this is the game I put the most money on," he admitted and pointed at the screen in front of them.

📱SMS--> Angelo
Xander: Hey, I hope you're doing well today. Xander: You got some time to kill? I'm a break at work, figured we could chat a bit if you're not busy. Xander: Telling me to fuck off is a perfectly acceptable response, by the way.

xander had learned his very first lesson at cambridge university: he greatly overestimated his tolerance for liquor. he'd had a measly cocktail and one beer at some welcome party. it wasn't his scene at all, and all he could think about as the shitty music nearly burst his ear drums was that he wanted to go back to his dorm and watch scary movies with his roommate who was so handsome it was maddening. so that was what the redhead did. he staggered his way back to his dorm hall and somehow managed to make it up the stairs. xander struggled with his key in the door but finally came out triumphant. he sloppily pushed his way into his shared room. there, sprawled out on his bed, was the statuesque alfie with not a stitch of clothing on, hand wrapped around his cock. xander swallowed hard, his face turning a bright red shade. he could feel his own cock stirring in his jean shorts. "uhh, hi, alfie," the redhead hiccuped. his hands dropped down to cover the tent in his shorts. he should've known to tear his eyes away, that it was rude to stare... but his inhibitions were far and few between. "d'ya want me to, uh, give you a second?" xander questioned. "don't stop on my account. we all gotta do it sometime." / @kitbogart

( i keep writing to you, )
--//-;; closed starter for @dcymcres --//-;; xander + larissa

The sight that left Xander's lips was heavy, annoyed, and to be honest... a little dramatic. What was supposed to be an easy start to his January -- his parents had finally left town after extending their holiday visit, his sister got off his back about his career, and his boss promised him a big story next month -- was turning out to be challenging in ways he couldn't have imagined. "Larissa..."
He leaned forward from his spot on the couch, his arms coming to rest on his knees as his hands folded together. Eyes held his gaze on hers, but he couldn't quite vocalize what he really felt on the inside -- which was panic. So, so much panic. On the outside, Xander kept a neutral façade (hilarious in its own right, if you know him), his brows only ever so slightly raising. "What do you mean, you're psychic? Like... how? Do you see ghosts?" Clearly, he didn't understand.

forced myself to finish this book even though by the last hundred pages or so all i was doing was picking apart the post-catholicism of it all. bc i feel like it's important to read shit you don't gel with . just because. even though the whole way through i was like they HAVE to prove it's not real. they HAVE to. so not the point of any of it but i was desperate for them to Find The Body etc. and of course instead they have mystical time travel experiences and all that because that is the kind of book the actual star is but i was desperate for them to realize that the star you see is the actual star. and then it wasn't
#the actual star#like i me? personally? am a staunch and firm believer that the star you see is the actual star#i dont cotton to the concept of 'higher levels of consciousness'#or 'transcendence' or the concept that the world is not the home#like. do i think people can put themselves in altered states of consciousness? sure. but none of those states are higher or better#it's just drugs or whatever. hallucination. sleep deprivation. really good/bad mood. brainwaves#i like aggressively dont believe that shit#but the book and the characters here DO. and i had to go with it while trying not to nitpick it too hard the entire time#not my favorite experience but one i was determined to have anyway just to see the thing through to the end#i think my favorite timeline was a tossup between the 1012 and the 3012. but the 3012 mostly in the beginning when it was all worldbuilding#by the end it was getting more mystical and i had too many issues with the future society that weren't going to have time to be resolved#which was very clearly also not the Point Of The Book which is a big one for loose threads and 'decoherence of meaning'#the 1012 plot was more engaging on a throughline level. i enjoyed it beginning middle to end just wish ket had been there more#she was sort of a decoy protagonist she got a couple chapters and then it was all the twins lethally misunderstanding each other#this is also a book which really really gets into entropy which#well first of all its scary. entropy. but secondable it's not as big of a noticeable deal as youd think it would be#what the fuck ever you're alive#who cares if everything is going to fall apart in eight billion years#there's a bit in the last xander chapter where he's like oh i HATE everything i HATE the earth!!! ok and you're about to have#the most formative experience of your life and build a cult around it. on the foundational idea that the earth isnt as real as heaven is#babeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the catholicismmmmmmmmmmmmmm#this book. more than anything. made me think about all of the 3012 jewish buddhist etc ppl living in sedente communities like#watching all of this from the sidelines wondering when Christianity 2 is going to fall apart under its own weight#now THAT'S entropy babey

@desertfragments = ask "Hey, Xander?" Her voice is soft, shrouded by dark exhaustion. Jay shifts on the ground, pulling her blankets up close. "Are you awake? I can't sleep." Of course she couldn't. Not when her head keeps spinning with the memory of Xander- limping bloody and wounded towards them empty handed; Jeremy- tired and empty. Jay swallows her guilt and tries not to think about it. She should've gone with them. "Do you," he hesitates. "Do you wish you could go back? To before all this?" Sometimes he does. Sometimes he wishes that he wasn't alone. That he had a family still. That he didn't have to lose anyone. Jay sinks further into the blankets. "Miss her," he mumbles.
Xander stared at the ceiling. Not asleep, but not awake. Exhaustion muddied his thoughts, yet his mind buzzed with static fuzz, pacing without purpose or clear form. His bones ached. His body ached. Jeremy, though, slept soundly--thank every god out there for that. He was nestled against Xander's side, head on his shoulder and arm across his chest. So long as Jeremy was there, Xander wouldn't be moving, no matter how sore he got.
Jay's voice was a blessed relief from the boredom, no matter how difficult it was for his brain to decipher the words. He dropped his other hand off the edge of the bed, an offering for her, if she wanted the contact. "Yeah, I miss her too."
"I..." His voice trailed off as he struggled for words. "No, no, don't think so. This... fuckin, sucks. Yeah. The worst. But I wouldn't wanna do it again. I couldn't have just... let her go. Even knowing this is how it ends, and I got everyone hurt. Couldn't have done it. Would've felt even shittier."

Where: Kens home studio Who: Ken and Xander (@allwiredwrong)

Ken had his own wing at home, it was better this way living in the house at as Victor. He didn't mind, he was out of town more than anything so he rarely saw him anyway these days. However there was something about his studio that felt more comfortable than his living room. "I feel like its been ages since we talked, what did I miss you know other than the fact that you moved to my home town. Should I Worried? are you my new stalker?"

If this had happened months ago, Xander would have reveled in the victory. He had been right all along; he knew it; they should have listened. Instead, he twisted his palms together, rubbing his thumb under the backs of his gloves as he leaned heavy on his knees. Not an ounce of vindication remained.
If he hadn't pushed so hard--if he'd been more thoughtful--if he could be more like Jeremy--
His skin crawls with their airy joy. It's not right. The last time he saw them at his show, it was awkward, but at least they seemed like themself. They weren't his friend to worry about, not anymore, but the thought of them going even further, like this, sat green and sour in his stomach. "Where are you going?"
❛ i ruined it . i fucking ruined it . ❜ Xander
Keerin hums. "You didn't ruin anything. I left. And my decision had nothing to do with you, or what you did or didn't do." They gently blow on their tea, sipping the drink between long, delicate hands.
"I was," they pause. Do they want to say it? Keerin is silent as the words crystallize. They sigh. "I was chasing something that was never mine to have. My family were never going to care for me- and I do wish that I had listened to you. You were right about them. But I hoped."
They laugh, small and shy and genuinely joyful, as they tuck a strand of hair behind their ear. "But I suppose it doesn't matter now, hm? I'll be leaving soon."

@aeviterncl // For Xander
Ellie hadn't been on campus since she was granted the ability to do her classes online, something that was only given to her due to the Dean assuming she was mute, maybe even deaf. She'd never corrected him, it wasn't worth it, and things probably wouldn't have gone her way if she had.
Today, though, she roamed around the grounds trying to remember where the library was. She was careful to be there after school hours, not wanting to deal with too many students, and especially not those that had bullied her in her first few weeks here. She shuddered at the memory, reminding her way too much of high school, and instantly she'd known she'd made the right decision to transfer to online classes.
After several minutes, she walked up the stairs to the library, pushing the door open without looking and successfully hitting a red haired boy in the face with it. Her eyes widened as she rushed inside around him, letting the door close with a thud behind her, and gripped his arm. Looking up at him with concern, trying to make sure he was okay, she stood on her tippy toes and leaned in so she was as close to his face as her legs would allow her.
"I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" She asked, still gripping at his arm. Her voice was just under a whisper, there was a chance if he wasn't paying attention, that he wouldn't hear her speaking at all.

Location: Xander's Apartment Starter for @hearthandhallows
Xander took a moment, even taking another bite of cake before he said anything. He thought about messing with them and making a sarcastic joke before telling the truth but from the way Felix had presented the cake, he felt like it was only right to take it seriously. "That seriously may be the best cake I've ever had, Felix. And I'm not just saying that to say that. Like," he paused and took another big bite both to prove his point and because he had been craving it almost immediately after his last bite. "The guys at the firehouse would go wild for something like this." He finally sat back and put his fork down, patting his stomach gently. "Thanks for that, needed something good after a day like today. Hey, I got something I need your nerdy opinion on though," he told them. Xander didn't always consider himself the smartest person. He didn't want to be but he knew he could probably read more and fill his life with more culture. He at least was interested in music but beyond that most of his hobbies were related to fitness or maintenance related work.
He got up from the chair in his living room to retrieve something from his bedroom. "I figure I should try to I don't know, read more, see what's going on out there. And like, comic books count, right? But I bought these at some yard sale recently, no idea if they're worth it," he told Felix and set the comic books down on the table. "Uh I think one is like X-Men and the other two are something called Watchmen. You ever heard of it? I don't know, my younger brother was always into this more than me."
